Ron Taylor
Good, brother. Appreciate it, man. This is a nice setup you guys have here. I appreciate it, Ron, man.
Rory
Thank you.
Mall
We trying to do a little something, man, you know, before they cancel us and we have to go back to the stock room at Whole Foods.
Ron Taylor
But, you know, no, you guys have come a long way. Even I know lav mics.
Rory
You can get it done at Whole Food.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah.
Mall
Great content away.
Rory
We unload boxes.
Mall
We can do a whole box.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
Just let me with my laugh. If I got to go back to 9 to 5 and get the streaming going from. From my job. But how you feeling, man? How's New York been treating you, man?
Ron Taylor
You know, it's been pretty dope. I think any place is more enjoyable when you get some money in your pocket. Oh, man.
Rory
Yeah, yeah.
Ron Taylor
There's some places that you get to enjoy the.
Mall
The air smells different. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You go sightseeing a little bit.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
You appreciate the culture of the city or.
Ron Taylor
And you just a little bit less scared?
Mall
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can stay in a nicer place. Yeah.
Ron Taylor
All that, like, access. Two places I've been with no money, just, I don't know, haphazardly. And it made me kind of really not like those places. And that's Chicago and New York.
Mall
Well, if you ain't got no money in Chicago.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah.
Mall
That can. You can experience a different part of Chicago that you've never seen. Micha. Jordan never saw this part of. Jordan never seen this part.
Rory
They went crazy with the redlining in Chicago. It's literally just a line.
Mall
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But New York has been good to you, man.
Ron Taylor
It's been great. You know, came out here, did the Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Mall
Shout out to Jimmy Fallon. Good guy.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Got to see the seller. I had went to the cellar years ago, and I don't think they had as many rooms as they do now, but just like, three, four rooms at the cellar.
Mall
When did that happen?
Rory
I've been to the cellar for probably a year ago.
Ron Taylor
Y.
Rory
It's not just the main one in the basement.
Ron Taylor
Correct. There's, like, different rooms now. Apparently they just bought a McDonald's and they're going to make like, a fifth room.
Rory
Oh, the west fourth McDonald's probably next to Village Underground. Oh, okay. So that. All right. So that. That McDonald's on West 4th was legendary. Like, iconic. Like, that's where all the would fight at, like, 2:00am no, I'm not making this up.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
That is the most iconic McDonald's. Like, when that shut down, that was like. That was like pulling the Empire State Building out of New York City. That's an iconic McDonald's, that West 4th one. Now, at least it's going to good use, though.
Ron Taylor
Like, why would. Why would lesbians fight there of all places?
Rory
You'd have to talk to the lesbians. I was just there for the show.
Mall
God, they probably just bombed at the cell.
Rory
But, yeah, comics. Other owns Village Underground, which is right next to that McDonald's, which is also iconic spot outside of comedy for music. The Village Underground is great. The Blue Note. Just that whole area that, like, L block is iconic. Not just for fights.
Ad
Yeah.
Rory
But for art.
Mall
Yeah. The art of the city. Not the heart of the city. The art of the city.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
And iconic basketball courts. Right. Like, yeah, it's just a cool block.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. I've been seeing all that stuff, too. Like, the best. I don't know, maybe just this Go around this trip. Like I said, my eyes were more wide open, like a sort of basketballs. Like, oh, there's probably a young Kyrie there right now. You know, I see the hot dog people and I say, I'll try a hot dog.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
When I was last year, I was like, I ain't spending nothing.
Mall
Different budget.
Ron Taylor
These kids need to get the out of my way playing basketball.
Mall
None of y' all gonna make it.
Rory
I love Ron's budget. Now that he has money, he said, I'm gonna buy a hot dog and I'm gonna watch a free basketball game.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Yeah. That's how you do it.
Rory
Stepped it up. Crazy.
Mall
Budget is wide open. I can get a Hot dog.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
Ketchup and mustard.
Ron Taylor
It's just enough money to not be angry. I've been angry a lot, bro.
Rory
Listen, trust me, you know, nothing goes hand in hand like poverty and anger.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
Oh, boy. It makes sense now. When you go to certain cities, like, I get it. I understand why these people are upset and angry.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Like I said, Chicago, I was like. I was there with no money. I was like, yeah, I want to kill people, too. Everybody who look like me, where they at? So I had to get up out of there. But I'm gonna go to Chicago next. You know, I've got a budget of all my bills are paid, and I've got $200.
Mall
Oh, it's life. Life is. Life is great. As long as your bills are paid, life is great.
Tony Ayo
Yeah.
Rory
You get deep dish P now in Chicago.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Yeah. But there's the place that everybody is like, tells you not to go in Chicago. So I would imagine New York has a place like that. Right.
Mall
Not to go to Chicago.
Ron Taylor
It's like, oh, don't go there. That's the tourist pizza.
Rory
Uno's or some like that I think it's called is the Taurus Deep dish one.
Mall
But where you were at west for Joe's. Joe's is a good spot. That's a good New York slice.
Rory
Yeah. John's a Bleecker's, one block over. Yeah, there's real good.
Mall
People pass. He's a little further uptown in Manhattan. Harlem. Well, not Harlem. The Patsy's is Harlem, right?
Rory
Technically, yeah. At this point, for gentrification purposes nowadays, Linda Street.
Mall
Linda street is probably the best slice in the city right now. They're right up the block.
Ron Taylor
Linden Street.
Mall
Linda Street.
Ron Taylor
Linda Street.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Okay.
Mall
It's probably one of the best slices, actually. Yeah. Yo, Ryan, we gotta get. Make sure we get him a slice before he leaves.
Ron Taylor
That'd be wonderful.
Ad
Yeah.
Mall
So New York, we always got a good slice, but New York and Chicago, we've had this rivalry of best slices for a few years, and I still think we have the best slice, but, you know.
Rory
Okay.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, no, the best pizza I've had. And this is just. Personally, I can't say.
Mall
Don't say jets.
Ron Taylor
No, no, no, no.
Rory
I like jets.
Mall
I love jets pizza, though.
Rory
No, those that don't know Ron is from Detroit, so.
Ron Taylor
Well, I mean, apparently Detroit has great pizza.
Rory
They do.
Ron Taylor
Which I didn't know until, like, a few years ago. Some list came out and I didn't even know there was Detroit style. I thought we just did pizza square for Some reason. But Detroit style is apparently, like, middle. Between the middle of deep dish and whatever. Yeah, but the best pizza I had was near the Comedy. Not Comedy Store, the Cellar. Some green place is just. It's probably just a random pizza place, but it's, like, right on the corner.
Mall
Bleecker street pizza.
Ron Taylor
I just know the. The. The motif is green, and it's right by the Cellar.
Mall
Yeah, probably. Is that it?
Rory
Oh, yeah, yeah. Bleaker street is good.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. That's the best pizza I ever had.
Mall
Bleaker street got a good. They got a good slice.
Rory
Just that whole area. Yeah, it's good pizza street. But I've noticed, like, the last three or four years, the most pizza spots I see opening in New York are Detroit style. Like, that's becoming a theme in New York.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
Big ass sign, Detroit style pizza.
Ron Taylor
I wonder. I mean. Cause it's all right to me.
Rory
Yeah, well, you guys stole Coney island from us, so I thought we had to return. We had to return the favor.
Ron Taylor
I don't think that was a theft. I think that was some white people doing some stuff with some things.
Rory
You know, we were migrating.
Ron Taylor
Well, so. So y' all don't even have a Coney Dog, right? There's no Coney Dog in here.
Rory
Well, we have Coney island, which is Nathan's.
Mall
We have a Nathan's. The first race, the original Nathan's is in Coney Island.
Rory
But the Coney Dogs in Detroit are based off Coney island, though, right?
Mall
I'm not sure.
Ron Taylor
I don't know. I just know. But y' all don't put chili and Nathan's does he.
Rory
Onions.
Ron Taylor
Onions and mustard.
Rory
That, yeah. Nathan's does that. Nathan's the original, huh? Coney. The Coney Dog.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
Well, yeah, I'm sorry.
Ron Taylor
More. You know, I didn't know that, man. You know, the first time I went
Rory
to Detroit, I was like, why is Coney island everywhere?
Ron Taylor
Yeah, I mean, I thought that was weird, too, for the Longest House. But, you know, you. You don't question Detroit gangsters. You just let them.
Mall
No, let them do what they want to do.
Ron Taylor
What they gonna do, you know?
Rory
Thank you for having me.
Mall
Y
Colin Coward
salute to.
Rory
Trick. Trick.
Mall
Right.
Rory
But for those that haven't seen the funny AF series, how does the comedy competition stuff work?
Ron Taylor
So you mean this competition or just in general?
Rory
Well, this and in general.
Ron Taylor
Well, normally a competition will take place, and whether you win it at the end or not, nothing really happens. You know, it's just another thing you did. At best, you'd win some money. You Know, and that'd be this one. And I've been saying I don't think anybody, maybe Kevin Hart, if that. I don't think anybody knew that this show was gonna be as big as it ended up being for a few reasons. Number one, there's no comedy competition we've ever seen that was unfiltered. Right. If you watch what was the AGT or whatever that was filtered comedy. So this is the first one of
Rory
its kind, last comic standing. Very, very filter.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, right. This one. I mean, one of my last jokes was about dicks or something, you know, just something you wouldn't normally. Gotta get it done, you know, Dick jokes, brother. That's, that's, that's what we got. Bills, you know. But this one at the end, it pretty much. Not pretty much. It absolutely gave, at the very least, the top four a brand new entire career. Right. So I got the call or the email about signing up. You know, you send your tape in which all of these things I had done a thousand times right up until winning. Even winning I've done a bunch of times. And it's normally just some prize money. Yeah, this one, it wasn't no prize money, it was a whole career. But you sign up, they say, yeah, come do that in front of us. And I did it in Chicago. And then they say, hey, you did great. We're going to move you to la. And I did it in la. And then after that point, it was the rose, it was the roast, the topical, the semifinals and the finals. And it was, it was hard, man, because everybody there was. Was great. We had been burning material throughout the entire course of the show.
Mall
That's what I wanted to ask you. I wanted it for a comic because with the Internet and things like that, we talk about all the time how rappers used to go to a radio station and have 40 bars to spit, but they would take that same 40 bars and go all over the country with it and spit the same thing over and over before the Internet, where they could post a clip and everybody would hear the verse.
Ron Taylor
Red roof, white ceiling.
Mall
Right, There you go. There you go. How was it?
Rory
Every market loved it.
Mall
Yeah, no, every market loved it. But how is a comic, how difficult is it to move into these different cities in a competition and have these, these judges or these people in front of you and keep coming up with different material?
Ron Taylor
Well, in this type of competition, which again, first of its kind, but in this type of competition, I don't think anybody's coming up with material in that competition. Maybe somebody can do that, but I don't think anybody would have wanted to do that in this one because everybody was so seasoned. Okay, so if you're doing brand new jokes and somebody else is doing, you know, tried and true jokes, you might not make it. Now, of course, we're talking about reactions, audience reactions. If you make something up on the spot and it's the funniest thing ever, then so be it. Do you want to run that risk?
Jeff T
Right.
Ron Taylor
But to answer your question, it's like as a comedian, it's your job to come up with material, Right. And. And try to make people laugh different ways. But as a comed, your jokes are a tool. The point is to make people laugh. The jokes are just a tool to get that done. So however you go about getting the job done, so be it. But these tools we call jokes normally work like they're your most reliable tools. So I don't think people are. I don't think anybody would come up with new jokes for that competition. But you definitely want to keep writing because you never know when you have to do a special.
Jeff T
Right.
Ron Taylor
You know, you never know when doing this 30 minutes is going to have you win a competition. So keep writing.
Rory
What. What was the American Idol type moment on that. That finale when you were standing on stage?
Ron Taylor
Okay. What do you mean by American Idol type?
Rory
When Kev was announcing the winner, how nervous were you?
Ron Taylor
I wasn't nervous at all.
Mall
Really.
Ron Taylor
Right.
Mall
Come on.
Rory
Did you already know? Like, Ron, this is life changing.
Mall
You gotta be a little nervous up there at this point, because I think
Rory
there was the rumor that the Clay Aiken r. Like, they knew the results already.
Ron Taylor
I don't know about that. But you said it's life changing. That's the point. That's why I wasn't nervous, because in my mind, two things. One, I didn't think I was going to win. Yeah. The whole competition has been Osama. Oh, they. They are chanting this man's name while they're reading Osama. Yeah. So I'm just.
Mall
We got rid of him a few years ago, didn't we?
Jeff T
Okay.
Mall
No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Ron Taylor
No, he's back and he's hilarious as ever.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Listen.
Rory
And doing MVP chants.
Tony Ayo
Yeah.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Mall
Look at the world.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
They're chanting his name. Right. So there's that. That's number one. Number two again, I don't know what's going to come after this.
Mall
Okay.
Ron Taylor
You just at. In my mind, after this, you just win a special. But, like, you know, I know a bunch of people who gotten specials. And it's, it's a job in my mind.
Mall
Gotcha. Okay.
Ron Taylor
So there's that. I didn't think I was going to win in my mind is. I don't want to say just a special, but it's a special which, like we're all going to get if we keep doing comedy.
Mall
Okay.
Ron Taylor
It wasn't until Kevin Hart announced it and I don't know how I missed him the whole time, but I'm seeing all my friends and whatnot in the crowd and people standing up, clapping and kind of crying and stuff. And I'm hearing Kevin Hart voice kind of crack. I. What the fuck is this? Yeah. Is it that I miss something? And then, then I almost, you know.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Because of just the, the love of what was going on. But at no point did I understand the gravity of what was going on when I won that. Which was what? May 5th. What month are we in May? March.
Rory
Got to June.
Mall
Just got to June.
Ron Taylor
What was last month?
Rory
May.
Ron Taylor
May, May, May 5th. I didn't think I was going to be here earlier that day. May 5th.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Mall
Gotcha.
Ron Taylor
You know what I'm saying? So it's still sitting in. So I was not nervous. Only because none of this was gonna happen. Right, right. But hey, it, I'm glad it did.
Mall
It definitely happened, man. What were some of the things that you got to talk to Kev about like along that way, like as another black, arguably the most successful black comedian of all time and you now winning his competition. Did y' all ever, you ever had much one on one time with Kev to just kind of like pick his brain a little bit?
Ron Taylor
No, I had too much one on one time. But you know, interestingly enough, I've been around them a few times just from being in the industry. What he said to me and us during the competition or kind of what he displayed was just like, he's a workhorse. Yeah, absolutely. Anybody who like thinks that they can get what they, what Kevin has just by. No, he, he has a work ethic that like you, some people wouldn't be able to comprehend, let alone do.
Ad
Right.
Ron Taylor
Like he's non stop moving when he's. At least in the time that I spent with him, when he says he's going to do something, he does it. And then like so just that by itself. That's a whole like gift and skill by itself. But like, I've been around Kevin quite a bit. Matter of fact, I was a door guy at the Comedy Store. Yeah, right. And he came into The Comedy Store. And, you know, he had his Riderhead chicken and all this type of shit in the back. And the door guys, like vultures. We were just waiting for him to leave because there's no way there's gonna take all this stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right? And Baron Davis was back there with Kevin Hart. And I had just did a project with Baron Davis, okay? So now all of the door guys looking at me like, yo, go back there. Yeah, come on, man, let's get this. And I'm not doing shit. Finally, they leave, and we just swarmed. We just, like, took all this alcohol and chicken and stuff like that to, like, little things like that. Kevin has just been around helping people, you know, I'm gonna leave.
Rory
It's not advice.
Mall
Kevin Hart is not gonna give you advice. But he's gonna get you drunk and full of chicken.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, man. You know, if you're vulturous enough, you know, you go out there and I still got the. The box somewhere. Yeah. Hennessy privilege. It was empty, but I took the box and.
Mall
No, probably leave that on purpose. Like, I'll leave these for the peasants. Let them.
Ron Taylor
Let them feast. Yep, yep, yep.
Rory
Also, I'm not aware. Does Baron Davis do a lot in
Ron Taylor
the comedy scene he has over time? I don't know about this moment.
Rory
I'm just not familiar.
Ron Taylor
Oh, yeah, brother. Baron, he's great. He did a show that I was a part of called wtf. Baron Davis. Okay, Baron. Baron is pretty funny. Yeah, a lot of these NBA players are funny, to tell you the truth.
Mall
I mean, Baron is funny, though. Baron is very funny guy. He's done a lot of. Of things throughout the years in California, throughout the city. Like, he definitely is somebody that gives back to the city and does things. So shout out to bd.
Rory
He was on Neil and Moshe's podcast talking about being abducted by aliens between Vegas and la, and it was the funniest story I ever heard. So I. I hear y'.
Colin Coward
All.
Rory
Baron Davis is.
Mall
That's. My God, man.

Ron Taylor
2026 Nissan Rogue. Built for all of it.

Mall
So. So what? What's. What's next?
Rory
Now you did Fallon post the Root show, too?
Mall
Post the Root show. The Roots picnic. How was that for you? How was. How was doing Fallon?
Ron Taylor
Oh, you mean Roots. The whole Jay Z thing.
Colin Coward
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Oh, right, right, right. Fallon was great. I don't want to say luckily or fortunately. Let's say fortunately. Fortunately. I had just seen the Roots at the Kevin Hart roast. Yeah, right. So from winning the thing, I got to go to the roast. And that was cool. So I was like, oh, yeah, I remember. You probably didn't, but it's cool I was there. But Fallon was great, you know, for reasons I didn't. You know, I kind of felt in the moment like, oh, man, this could have went a lot better. But when I saw it, I was like, no, that was. That's what it was supposed to be. But, you know, just as a comic, as a performer of any sort, you like, you want everything to be perfect. And so that was. That. That was great. And then seeing it, you know, I was glad of the outfit choices I've made, because I definitely was gonna go another way. And I probably would have wore this. So it's like suits always play well.
Rory
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
That was just the only color they had at Men's Suit Warehouse.
Mall
Okay.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, it was a side bright blue.
Mall
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you made it work.
Ron Taylor
But all of that was wonderful. And then Brother Questlove came up to me and said some nice words afterwards. Hey, you know, good stuff. And apparently all of the Roots are like fans of comedy.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
I mean, I know for a fact Quest is a super, super stand up fan.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that. That was wonderful, man. And I mean, at some point I' ma realize what's going on and probably have a heart attack like Jesus. But right now I'm in it. Yeah, you Know, So even to be on this couch, not stumbling and sweating and stuff, it's like.
Mall
Is a mirror, man. This is a very easy environment.
Rory
And we have centralized.
Mall
Talk shit, man.
Tony Ayo
Yeah.
Mall
We have central air. We got you some water, got you some Coca Cola, what. Whatever you need, man.
Rory
I mean, not to say that I could speak to like any crazy level of success, but that's usually how it goes.
Mall
You.
Rory
The things happen and you live in the moment and you don't ever actually realize it until the next one.
Mall
Well, you've been moving then.
Rory
It continues since the win. Since you're just gonna. You've been moving and it's.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rory
I mean, I guess there won't be a heart attack moment. Well, it'll just continue to just be like, oh, this is life now.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah. I mean, getting noticed and stuff like that. Picking up because like I said, Ron, how's the man?
Rory
How has thing.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, like, how's the.
Rory
I mean, that's where I was. I was trying to be nice meter at right now.
Mall
Where are we at right now? We have Tank. Where are we?
Ron Taylor
That's a good question. Yeah, yeah.
Rory
And respectfully, if that's what everyone's into, it's pride month and.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
I just thought. No, I want to be. Include everyone.
Ron Taylor
Okay.
Mall
That's your special. You win in May 5th.
Rory
My birthday, May 4th.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, that's funny. What would you say if. If the pussy meter went up, but it's all old pussy. What's that? Where's that land?
Rory
They know how to move. Yes. Old pussy has less expectations. They've been through the. They know what time it is. New is looking for reasons to say, hey, we're to the public.
Mall
Yeah, but old you differently when it's success, though. When you successful.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
They start doing things for you that you ain't never had them do before.
Rory
And they a lot of successful people.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
So they know what time it is.
Ron Taylor
I don't think the ones that I have a lot of successful people I might be.
Rory
Oh, you just mean in general old. Yeah, I mean, I thought you meant like old that chases famous people.
Ron Taylor
Oh, no, not old in age.
Rory
Oh, okay.
Ron Taylor
From the past. Past. Yeah, yeah.
Rory
I thought like old groupies.
Mall
Oh, no, he talking about the women.
Rory
Like the bitches have been going to the comedy sellers since the eight.
Mall
No, he talking about his.
Ron Taylor
No, no, no, not them. I mean girls from my past. I ain't ran into no new ones. I probably. I ain't really got the energy. I don't think I got the Testosterone to deal with some new ones right now.
Rory
But I feel you.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, I'm not proud of it. I need to do some push ups. I need to eat right, cuz I can feel it in my mind. It's like I remember like, I found an old notebook of mine. Like, when I started comedy, I started at like 18. And I'm looking at the jokes in there and I'm like, what a horn dog. I was like, yeah, I was. I was like the Incredible Hulk.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
And then I look at those jokes and I think about life now and it's like, get out of here. Move it. Why Tonight we just yesterday again. I'm not proud of it because I was. I felt like I was a better, smarter, faster person when I. But I ain't got it, though.
Rory
Yeah, no, my testosterone, that area is completely gone. Maul won't fans because of moral reasons. I won't them because I don't want to ruin the image that they have of the show.
Ron Taylor
What?
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Ridiculous
Ad
at all.
Ron Taylor
What do you. First of all, what do you mean, moral? Moral what? Moral to who? Based off of what? And you the image of the show ain't the show for pussy. Like, that's. That's what life is about. Success is for bitches, not for more.
Rory
Yes. Strange pussy.
Ron Taylor
Look, y' all know more than me, so I can't tell you nothing. But. Yeah, like I said, somebody getting. It just happened to be people from the past. Yeah, yeah, y'. All. Tomorrow, y' all ain't nobody. No.
Rory
So as the old said, like, yo, I always believed in you. Is that now they don't even.
Ron Taylor
They just saying, like, yeah, that's what's up.
Rory
You know, this is my ticket.
Ron Taylor
I thought.
Rory
I thought you was cool at a seven mile.
Mall
Yeah, I thought she was funny.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah. You know, but I was dating a young lady, let's see, last year, and she dumped me. And, you know, I've ascended to some degree. She still don't give a shit, which I can commend her for that.
Rory
That's the one for you.
Ron Taylor
She's standing strong. Yeah, that. I don't want to say all that. Whatever. That bitch, she's not gonna watch this.
Jeff T
She.
Ron Taylor
She don't even watch tv. This bitch wanted to go out and do it. This bitch just. Her. Her mind don't work right.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
You know, she can't even understand, like, oh, I could use this guy to get what I want her, you know,
Mall
she can't put that together.
Ron Taylor
Her brain, it don't work right. Yeah, but you know, you're trying to
Rory
convince a girl that you're a trick is the funniest thing in the world.
Jeff T
You would.
Rory
You know how dumb of a girl you gotta be to convince her that you.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, but she got all the special stuff with the mind, you know, taking all the bed.
Rory
Beautiful. Part of the spectrum.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, Spectrum. There it is. Thank you. Yeah, she just the. Just.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Hey, but, you know, more power to her. She's gone. So now I'm. I'm all the other ones. And they. I've been getting calls for money, which is wild because it's like, who told
Mall
you I got my money, right?
Ron Taylor
Where y' all get this from?
Mall
How y' all just assume that I
Ron Taylor
didn't have one, ask me for money, like, can I borrow this? And then before the repayment day, borrow more. I said this. Basic math. You can't do that.
Mall
She ain't pay you back with the
Ron Taylor
money she just borrowed, man, she ain't paying that shit back.
Rory
You won on May 5th. This what, June 2nd.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Yeah.
Rory
People don't understand what net 30, 60 and 90 is. We signed our serious deal five years ago, and there was a report of how much money we made and the amount of text messages I said. I said, serious is a net 60 company. I'm broke. Can I borrow some money?
Mall
Oh, my God.
Ron Taylor
Well, you might net 30 or 60. I got net nothing. There was no money attached to this show. This is the prize. I get to be here. You know, I get to hang out.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
All the clothes I wore, like, that was part of wardrobe because of the cab. I took a lot of them, but,
Mall
you know, keep that shit.
Rory
Oh, no. You have to steal from wardrobe.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mall
Kev got it. Yeah, he'll be all right.
Tony Ayo
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
So to answer your question, yeah, the hoes, they from the past, and I'm happy that they're back in my life.
Rory
So you're spin the block guy. Yeah, I'm spin the block guy, too.
Ron Taylor
Now. I am.
Rory
I don't really like new people.
Ron Taylor
That's my thing. I got dumped by the. I thought I was going to be with. And her reason was like, well, this was her reason for real. She said, well, what if it did end? It would be so sad. She ended it because it could end now.
Mall
She should win the next season of Netflix Kevin Hart funniest. She might be funny.
Rory
Someone that has gaslit in women before. I need to steal that. Wait, break that down again.
Ron Taylor
It could end, right? And that would be sad.
Mall
So we should end now.
Ron Taylor
We might end it now, you know, what are you gonna do? Yeah.
Mall
What's your response to that, Ron? How do you. How do you respond to that?
Ron Taylor
If she was normal, I'd probably cuss her out stuff. But like I said, like, you know, there's times she manic.
Mall
Yeah, yeah.
Ron Taylor
You know, like this don't even understand. Like, I got money now.
Tony Ayo
She don't.
Ron Taylor
She got no concept for that. Like, if it were me, I'd be like, all right, let me just act like this to get some bills paid. She just out gallivanting, probably speaking in a. A megaphone at the beach to nobody. She does that.
Rory
That everyone has their journey.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
To get a megaphone and just yell at people.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
At the beach.
Mall
How did you meet Haran?
Ron Taylor
The Comedy Store. That was probably the issue.
Mall
Okay.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. They're all not. Well.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Myself included. But, you know, bus was fire. What are you gonna do? You know, it was.
Mall
Sometimes that's all it is. Sometimes that's all it is.
Rory
I'm gonna. How do I ask this in a non messy way? Way? Because I don't want to know names.
Jeff T
All right.
Rory
The same way with any industry, whether you're at work in corporate, whether you're doing podcasts, whether you're working a music label, everyone's everybody. That. That happens naturally. It's like prison. You're in the same place. People are gonna.
Ron Taylor
Right.
Rory
With comedians, because all of you have very interesting brains.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
Oh, my God, I can only imagine how messy it gets when comedians fuck. Comedians within a green room. It has to be way different than Wall Street.
Colin Coward
Yeah.
Rory
Or any other job. Because you guys all have very interesting chemicals in your brains.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Yeah. Like anything else, it's like. It's how you go at it, Right. Who you deal with, how you navigate throughout life. Now, I've tried to go throughout life, you know, relatively cautiously. And with this last young lady I remember, I was like. Like, say what?
Rory
Where'd you get the megaphone?
Ron Taylor
Where?
Ad
What?
Ron Taylor
Okay, we both in this world. What comedians?
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Have you been with. I'm not telling you that. I said, what comedians? Yeah. We in here now.
Rory
They have to intro me, right?
Ron Taylor
Yeah. I'm not telling you that. I said. All right, fine. It don't matter.
Mall
Right.
Ron Taylor
Long as it wasn't this one. This one, this one, this one. I had a short list of five.
Mall
Right.
Ron Taylor
As long as it wasn't these five, I don't really care.
Mall
Yeah.
Colin Coward
Time.
Ron Taylor
Go on. We get close. You know, I'm starting to love this. Yeah, Right? Yeah. Out the blue. She's like, hey, remember that list of five? I might have been with one. I said, no, you. No, you didn't.
Rory
I might have.
Ron Taylor
No, you didn't. Yeah, I asked you.
Mall
I asked you specifically.
Ron Taylor
I asked you about this.
Rory
Mida is funny.
Ron Taylor
I asked you about this five.
Rory
Mida is hilarious.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I might have had the. You better make sure.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
And when I asked her, she said no. I didn't say no. I just didn't say nothing. So when I said, as long as it wasn't this five, she just stayed silent, which. All right, bitch. Yeah, fine.
Mall
You play the games.
Ron Taylor
I think after that, it was probably never going. It was probably never going to work.
Mall
Yeah, it's the best thing. I just think it's funny that Ron is talking to her like that and he dresses the way he dresses. There's definitely some pimp shit going on.
Rory
I. I just think it's funny. He wanted truth out of the megaphone girl.
Mall
You yelling, everything else.
Rory
Some accountability may need to come on your side of like, it was the megaphone girl.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, that's fair.
Ad
I.
Ron Taylor
That, that's fair, man. But, you know, it was just. God damn, my brothers.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Like, you got to think I know a lot of people in comedy, right? If I said, long as you ain't this five, right. These got to be people close to me.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
I'm like, well, they didn't mention anything when you was falling in love, when you were standing next to her with another megaph. With her.
Ron Taylor
No, they didn't know. But I say all that to say, you know, you can run into situations like that when it comes to, you know, comedy and love and all that type of stuff. And like, anything, it'll get messy. But the more precautions you take, the better off you'll be. Like, if you married, then you probably. You're great. Like, just get out the game. You know, if you got your long term girl just. Or guy, just get out the game. But, you know, it's no different than from school.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
You know, or. Or athletics. Everybody the same one.
Rory
You only see the same 30 people.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rory
Eventually everyone's gonna start fucking.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
Just human nature.
Ron Taylor
And I'll be real with you, brother. With my newfound success, you know, there will be people who try to come into the fray, and I'm letting them.
Rory
I'm not much afraid, you know, just
Ron Taylor
trying to get in and. Oh, Ron and I. I'm. Come on. I've wanted you for a decade now.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Mall
I had my eye on you.
Ron Taylor
Go ahead, let's.
Rory
I don't care if the, the reason why you now like me. I'm fine with that.
Ron Taylor
I don't care. What's your price?
Mall
Okay, let's get this out the way.
Rory
Because once I got a bit of notoriety, I was like, you don't have to like me.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Mall
Coming off of the Kevin Har. Kevin Hart comedy Roast, there was a lot of, like, little pockets of, you know, people feeling some way about some of the jokes that were told and things like that. Did you have any, like, feelings leaving it, leaving the roast? Like, oh, people are definitely not going to like this. And does any of that make sense to you? Because it is all, at the end of the day, comedy.
Ron Taylor
It makes sense to me just because I'm aware of how, how people operate when it comes to and react.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Comedy or anything for that matter. There was nothing that I heard that my brain registered while there that I thought was too crazy. Other than the dead husband stuff. Sure.
Mall
Onto it.
Ron Taylor
Right?
Rory
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
But then again, you know, at the same time, like, I'm. I know how these things operate. So I know they actually called each other. If it's all right with her, then. It is what it is. But the biggest thing was the Tony Hinchcliffe, George Floyd joke.
Mall
Yes.
Ron Taylor
And the crazy part about that one is I didn't realize. He said looking up, which is such a little thing, but it changes everything. So he said, George Floyd is in hell, which as a writer, brother, bravo. I mean. Cause it just, it went right over my head and it changes so much of the joke show. But that's, again, that's what Tony does. Tony is a. I've known him for a long time. You know, he's given a lot of people opportunities he can. I mean, his show killed Tony like every other week.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
He's given a whole nother person a career.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Right. Now, whatever you think about him or the people he gives a career, that's a whole different story. But they asked Tony to come on that show and be Tony.
Jeff T
Right.
Ron Taylor
And asking to do a backflip.
Jeff T
Right.
Ron Taylor
You know, so it was what it was. But you know, I've said this a few times, like it's. It's fine. It's easy to get mad at Tony for joking about something that wasn't real.
Mall
Right.
Ron Taylor
What about Derek Chauvin?
Mall
Right? Right.
Ron Taylor
This nigga did it.
Mall
Right?
Ron Taylor
Right. What about all the other people that's like kicking ass out there? This skinny, effeminate, you know, gay looking dude is just making jokes about. I Don't even know if he believes in God.
Mall
Right.
Ron Taylor
So what does he care about heaven or hell?
Jeff T
Right, Right.
Ron Taylor
But it's, you know, again, we enjoy that. We enjoy attacking people. And when I say we, I mean just society, period. Like, if there's something we can go at, we'll go at, when the last time you called into the radio and said, I love that song.
Jeff T
Right.
Ron Taylor
Never.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Right. So people call in to say what they dislike. Which I understand. Yeah.
Mall
But I mean, it just didn't. Because again. Oh, shit.
Rory
Goes to what's viral. With podcasting, I could talk about all the things I like. None of that is going to go viral.
Ron Taylor
Right.
Rory
When I say I dislike something. Numbers.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. I mean, and that, that's how it goes.
Rory
Which is fucked up.
Ron Taylor
But long as one is aware of like, of that, you know, aware that talking about what you don't like and then maybe even being able to do it in a positive way, you know, I don't know.
Rory
I didn't like how Chelsea Handler handled everything afterwards, but I really enjoyed her set. And to your point of Toni being perceived as the feminine, man, I think she smoked that whole. You guys had Trump on your podcast and. All right, go fight the fucking war then, guys. Why are we sitting here? I thought that was like, I thought everyone kind of got their, their jokes in. It wasn't one sided to me. So that's where I feel like it is what it is at that point.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, I didn't, I didn't get some of the stuff that Ms. Chelsea did afterwards. But, you know, what do I know, right? I'm just, I'm the newest guy there. But I do know that people's reaction afterwards was an opportunity for like a second win of some type of virality. And maybe that is what she felt on the inside. But to me, it's like nobody who said anything on that roast made me feel, like, uncomfortable the way I'd feel uncomfortable with somebody in real life having actual issues with these people. I've had had issues with people. This just a bunch of people whose goal and hope was to make somebody chuckle. Right now if Tony was really like, you know, kicking people in the ass or if Chelsea was really like, you know, being homophobic or something like that, then we got an issue. Yeah, but they just, it's just jokes. They telling jokes, man. So when I was there. No, now all them Cheryl is black things that, you know, it make you want to be like, all right, enough of that. Just as just. And that just me.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
But I wasn't like offended. It was just like, all right, let's team up, you know?
Mall
Yeah. What was the.
Rory
I was there with those. You would just have to make good jokes. Like, when you get in, though, I. I can be upset at jokes that are just not the topic. It's just not funny. Like, now you're just making jokes about that, and it's not.
Ron Taylor
I mean, they just.
Rory
Shitty jokes.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
Like, they're lazy, shitty jokes.
Ron Taylor
I can go with that. I can go with lazy. I can go with shitty.
Mall
I.
Ron Taylor
And this is just me. I find it difficult to say what's funny and what's not. Right. Because who's the mother of funny? So I. I might not find it funny. Somebody else might find it funny. So, you know, I guess funny is. Is relative and subjective. But, like, to me, the Cheryl Underwood jokes, it's not that they were unfunny necessarily. It was just like, wait a minute, y'.
Mall
All.
Ron Taylor
All y' all feel like this, you know, just the crispity, crackity, crunchy things, like. And low key. This might be out of line, but if you look at Cheryl Underwood on Deaf Comedy Jam, Miss Cheryl Underwood. Wonderful now. Beautiful. Now. You look at her from back then, she was.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
She was not to be played with. Yeah. She was built up, so that's how I'm seeing her. Yeah. And they calling all this black and all, you know, but. Yeah.
Mall
What was the room like when. When Cat Williams came up?
Ron Taylor
I don't think anybody knew. Yeah, right. Well, somebody had to know. Right. But I didn't know. I didn't realize when they were. Who was setting that up? Was that Regina King?
Mall
Regina Hall.
Rory
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Regina Hall.
Mall
Regina hall, yeah.
Ron Taylor
Was setting that up. And then you just hear his voice. It's like, I'm the last one. I didn't know that was going to happen.
Rory
I thought it was a joke while I was watching it live. Like, someone just played a Cat Williams.
Colin Coward
Yeah.
Rory
No, like the Roots hit a button and just.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Now he came out. And it was interesting because a lot of. I think everybody was reading a teleprompter, but from what I remember, it didn't necessarily seem. And he's a professional. It didn't seem like Cat Williams was doing a teleprompter. It felt and seemed like some of this stuff was just what was on his chest.
Mall
Oh. Cat has had a lot of things he's been wanting to say to and in front of Kevin Hart for a while.
Colin Coward
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
So I don't think he needed a teleprompter.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Nah, he read it like everybody else. But I don't know, be it just the professionalism or whatever, it was like, nah, Kat, he did his thing. Cat the Rock. That was crazy
Mall
to me. The Rock telling Kevin Hart to sit on his lap and suck his nipple was what I wanted to have outrage about. Everybody went to Tony Hitchcliff. I was like, the Rock told Kevin Hart to sit on his lap and latch onto his nipple. I thought that was the crazies of the night.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
Was he.
Rory
Was he on the prompter the whole. Like, that was the longest set by far.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, it w. He was on the
Rory
teleprompter the whole time.
Ron Taylor
He was. He was. And it's the.
Rory
I thought he went rogue, like, cuz he's the biggest A list actor ever. So I just assumed he.
Ron Taylor
That's interesting because. And we were talking about this. Some comments were talking about this. Like when he's got the mic in his hand, he's.
Colin Coward
He's.
Ron Taylor
He's the Rock. You know, this is. He's back in his arena. Yeah. But when he's at the Teleprompter talking like this, he's Dwayne Johnson. Yeah. Right. So he was vacillating between the Rock and Dwayne Johnson and. And. And I don't know. It made for an interesting performance. I enjoyed it. But no, he was definitely reading what was on the teleprompter. But I would not be surprised if there's like, yo, I'm gonna be here. If I'm gonna be here.
Mall
Let me riff a little bit. Let me go.
Ron Taylor
I want to do as much jokes as I want to do. And I'm not sitting through two hours of people telling jokes because people like, oh, he wasn't there at the beginning. You think the Rock was going to sit there for two hours?
Mall
That's not gonna happen.
Ron Taylor
So he came out with the fire, which they've done.
Rory
It Rose. Like the Justin Bieber roast. Will Ferrell came out as a anchorman and then left like, yeah, no, Will Ferrell's not about to sit for a whole Justin Bieber roast.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Tiana Taylor, she came and went, man, she was. All the women were pretty prettier than, I don't know, just very pretty in real life. I'd never seen Tiana Taylor. It's like, wow, she looks like.
Rory
No, she's like one of the most beautiful human beings that's ever existed on earth.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Yeah. She doesn't even look real. Yeah. And then the Williams sisters. God damn, they was big. I know. I. They are.
Mall
So you didn't think Serena and Venus Williams were. Were.
Ron Taylor
I didn't know.
Mall
They was two of the greatest athletes ever.
Ron Taylor
Like that. Just big.
Tony Ayo
Big.
Rory
One of the most accomplished athlete of all time.
Ron Taylor
When I say big, I mean like even. Like what do you call the. The shoulders? Just wide. Like they just. A lot of human being. I had no clue.
Rory
I don't like for Mal to repeat stories, but I would love for you to hear this. This this pride because you didn't have one on one time with Kev with how to handle fame or whatever. Maul got to be in the same area as Serena Williams and blew it.
Mall
Yeah. This was before. She was like. She was. She was. She had a name, obviously. She was a huge celebrity at the time. But this was like 2001, and we were in D.C. at the All Star Game. It was All Star game in Washington, D.C. and we were in the sky. We had a skybox at the game, and we all sitting, watching the game. And I happen to turn around and look, and Serena Williams is standing in the skybox, like, looking at the TV by herself like, nobody else is paying. I'm like, bro, that's Serena. She's just standing over by herself. So I'm a Serena Williams fan, right? I'm like, I'm gonna just go say hi. But then me and Serena also have the same exact birthday, same day, same year. So I'm thinking about it, like, that's gonna be my angle, like, to just. That's my icebreaker. That's all I'm thinking. I'm not just going up there. I'm like, we're basically like brothers. She's been waiting for that moment, waiting
Rory
for somebody with the same birthday to come by.
Mall
We're the same person. You know what I'm saying? So walk up to her, introduce myself, and I'm like, yo, you know, we have the same exact birthday. She's like, really? I'm like, yeah, same day, same year. She's like, wow, I met somebody that had. We're born the same day, but not the same year. She was like, that's cool. So now I'm thinking, she says, that's cool.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
I'm thinking, we got a conversation going now. Now there's some rhythm, right?
Ron Taylor
I'm following.
Mall
I start talking, talking. I'm getting into my whole spirit. She was like, do you mind? Like, I was watching this tv. Like, this is the Simpson episode that I'm in. And I turn around, look at the tv. The episode of the Simpsons, one of the biggest shows in TV history, is on. And at the exact moment, it's her and Venus on the Simpsons. I'm like, I am the dumbest fucking God. You know, not one time did I think to turn and look that she was standing there watching tv. I'm thinking, the game that we're all watching right here, the All Star Game is playing on the tv. The Simpsons with the.
Ron Taylor
With the way, brother, that was not your fault.
Mall
That was God, that Was God telling me to sit down.
Ron Taylor
Who in the world would just assume that whoever they talking to is on the Simpsons is on a cartoon?
Rory
Like, what's the biggest cartoon of all time, bro?
Ron Taylor
The craziest.
Mall
That is. I'm talking about the crate. That. That story's so crazy, people thought I was lying. And then somebody online, thank you to that guy. He looked up that episode when it aired, and it, in fact, aired the same day as the all star game in February 2001. I'm like, I cannot make this up. Like, I was talking to Serena and I was fucking bothering her while the. One of the greatest accomplishments moments of her life outside of winning Wimbledon, she's in the episode of the Simpsons that. It doesn't get bigger than that for anybody to be in the fucking Simpsons. It was crazy.
Ron Taylor
No, man, she engaged you, right? She could have been like, beat it.
Mall
Exactly.
Ron Taylor
But she opened the door, she said,
Mall
oh, that's so cool.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
Mall
Brain turns on conversation time. No, sir, Just say what you say and keep it moving. I'm on the Simpsons, but.
Ron Taylor
And now you got the story. Yeah, right, because either way, she already did the episode, whether she watched it or not.
Tony Ayo
Right?
Ron Taylor
It was still coming out. You know, now she ain't really needed after. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now you got the story.
Mall
I got my story. You know, she know we got the same fucking birthday. That's all that matters.
Rory
Yeah, I'm sure she still thinks about it to this day.
Mall
To this day.
Ron Taylor
Come on.
Rory
She can't.
Mall
She can't not think about it.
Ron Taylor
Now. When you saw her, was she big as shit?
Colin Coward
She wasn't.
Mall
So this was too. She was. Obviously. She's always had, you know, a frame. She was. She's one of the greatest ever. Yeah, but she. Throughout the year, she definitely did put on more muscle. In 2001, she wasn't as muscular as she is now. She obviously, you know, had a great, great, you know, physique for. You know, she's an athlete.
Ron Taylor
Looking at this, this just looked like a. A. A girl that run track.
Rory
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
When I saw them at the roast, I was like, oh, these are two Amazons that, like, can have their way if they want.
Mall
Do whatever they want to you.
Ron Taylor
Ron, man, look, and I.
Rory
And I, I. You said anything can happen, brother.
Ron Taylor
I used to have a. A psp. Remember that?
Mall
Yeah,
Ron Taylor
I was. I was a young, young man, man. Full of things. Yeah, I remember Serena Williams was on there. I used to love her. Remember Hoops from Flavor of Love? Absolutely. Oh, God, what a cutie.
Mall
Pie.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, I had that on there. Yeah.
Rory
How do you not have Delicious, though? That's, that's. That's homegrown.
Mall
No, I just.
Rory
We call her delicious over here.
Ron Taylor
I mean, I love her, you ask. You asking me about my 13 year old self?
Rory
Yeah. And your PSP? It's not my PSP.
Ron Taylor
You know, it's a woman with a big giant butt.
Mall
Yeah, yeah.
Ron Taylor
You know, I needed something different, you know, hoops and. Yeah. And Serena. That's what I had. And Stacey Dash before she went crazy.
Mall
Oh, my God.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah.
Mall
Wow.
Rory
Did she go crazy or Stacey Dash? Always been that way.
Mall
I don't know. Cause we never heard a lot about Stacey Dash. She was just a pretty cute girl. And we loved Clueless, obviously, like, but we never heard her speak much back then.
Ron Taylor
You know, through some of my experiences from 2020 forward, I would not be surpr if she had some light version of some type of mania or. Or ever had bouts of psychosis, because there's a spectrum of like, mental health that you'd be surprised how many people are on. You know, I don't know if she has any issues, but like, you know,
Rory
I don't care about her politics. What made me laugh was rest in peace of dmx. Like, six months had passed and she was on IG Live.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, she went, yeah.
Rory
Wait, DMX died?
Ron Taylor
See, that's like, whoa, that's crazy. You know, and there's people walking around like that dog. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rory
And they find you was in the video.
Mall
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ron Taylor
And they fine as hell, so we don't say nothing. But I think that's how they continue being crazy people just trying to fuck. And it's like, yeah, yeah, I love
Rory
me an autism thing, man.
Ron Taylor
Look, brother.
Rory
Oh, dude.
Ron Taylor
And then she. How'd you turn?
Rory
Just the way you just shifted. Nah, no, we here.
Ron Taylor
How'd she turn?
Rory
Let me Chisholm ting.
Ron Taylor
When did that happen?
Mall
Yeah, I think she had a skin. Like some. Some type of disorder with her skin.
Ron Taylor
I think, man, look, more power to her. Like, she reminds me of Nicki Minaj. Or maybe Nikki reminds me of her. With which your boy Jay Z went in pretty hardcore on everybody. Yeah.
Mall
How'd you feel about that?
Ron Taylor
Well, you know, I saw Dame Dash talking, which. I don't know, man, I love Dame. I met him a few times, but some of the stuff he talks about, it's like, man, why are you. What are you talking about, brother?
Mall
What you mean?
Ron Taylor
Why are you talking about his outfit? Who the gives a what he's wearing.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
You're both old, right? Right. He's making fun. He was making fun of his hair. Like, he's like, yo, Jay got. Got that silly hair. What are you talking about? Silly, right? You still got hair. To have hair, period is a good thing. Like what? These are all cuz. I think he could talk some real shit about Jay, but he's talking about his outfit.
Mall
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
And his hair. Like he's in the fifth grade. Like, damn, grow up. Yeah, but I. I actually liked his hairstyle. I thought the shit was cute. I thought the outfit was nice. You know, the raps. I enjoy the aggression that he displayed in there. Like, the rap that I like. I like for it to sound a certain way, not just be good words. If I wanted to just hear good words, I'd listen to poetry.
Mall
Right?
Ron Taylor
Right. So I need the right energy in Maya. I'm a big fan of Kendrick, because even if I didn't understand English, I like, oh, this nigga mean whatever he talking about, right? Jay Z was doing that and that, you know, he was. He was. I could feel, like, the energy and the passion behind it. But what his plan or point is, I mean, I don't know, like, what now do you come out with an album?
Mall
I think so. I think it was more so. You know, Jay has been experiencing things, going through things the last few years, and obviously he's a rapper, so his way to respond would be through the music, through his lyrics, through his bars,
Rory
did his whole career.
Mall
He's always done things like that. But I think that he's been, you know, for the past few years. He doesn't do a lot of interviews. He's not gonna, you know, have many opportunities to address things. So I think that was his first time being on stage, solo set. And why? Cause he's come out on tour, on Beyonce's show a few times. But his own solo thing, 4:44. Yeah, it's been that since the last time was 444, 2016, almost. Yeah. 10 years ago. So I think he used that moment to kind of just like, you know, I'm gonna respond to things that obviously I've gone through and that everybody that was there has heard or read about. So I think he just used that platform to just address a lot of the shit that's been on his mind. And, you know, that's. That's. To me, that's what it's for. It's supposed to be for a rapper, for artists. It's supposed to be through the art, through the music.
Ron Taylor
But does an album come afterwards?
Mall
I think we get, I think we get an album. I think we get a Jay Z album this year. I think that, you know, Jay, he's, he's very intentional and he's not gonna do anything unless there is a full plan ahead. So I think even to, you know, the shows at Yankee Stadium being however many years since Reasonable Doubt and the blueprint, things like that, I think that he's obviously in, your know, his creative circle and I think music, new music is definitely, definitely happening this year.
Ron Taylor
Well, I, I wish, I wish they weren't beefing. I was never a fan. But who's beefing of Jay Z and Drake?
Mall
They're not beefing though.
Ron Taylor
I mean, but he was talking about him, wasn't he?
Mall
It's, I mean, it's just, it's just, it's like, like we spoke about it. It's just that's rap, little jabs here and there. But it's not a beef, though. Like, I don't think Jay Z is, is getting into a beef with anybody musically at this point in his career. I think he'll always have little jabs and little, you know, little bars here and there. But that to me, that's cool. You know what I'm saying? That's part of the art, that's part of the sport of hip hop, is to say little slick things here and there about other MCs or your peers and things like that. But a beef though. Jay Z is not. He's not beefing with any rappers at this point in his life. No, that's not.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, apparently he's got maga ops. Yeah, that's what he said. You know, whatever. I don't know nothing about that.
Mall
He does have maga ops. I'm pretty sure he has maga ops for sure.
Rory
I mean, the whole Kevin Har roast was maga ops verse everyone else.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, I mean, I guess I'm not into politics like that. I was listening to who was breaking that stuff down.
Mall
Van Lean?
Ron Taylor
No, all. Jesus Christ. I think you guys probably have beef with him. Academics, okay, Listening to, you know, that be broken down on his channel, which it's very funny to be a fan of all these things. And then there'd be little beefs on the inside. So you guys are fine enough now. But you know, apparently Jay Z's got cahoots with Maga people and all that stuff.
Mall
Well, when you're a billionaire, I mean there you're to going to be in the same room with some people that other People probably are not big fans of that.
Ron Taylor
Makes sense.
Mall
It's a very small club. The billionaire.
Ron Taylor
I guess when you're a billionaire, like, you kind of got friends and enemies with everybody.
Mall
Yeah. Oh, at that. At that point, absolutely.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
Like, do I think when ROC Nation was trying to bid for Caesars that they didn't have to go around Jared Kushner? No, of course not. Like, Yeah, I get that.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Jeff T
Y'.
Mall
All.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, man.
Rory
Do I think they're friends or they agree with politics with each other? Absolutely not. But when you get to that level, you start to realize, not to get too deep, that there is no Democrat Republican Party at that point.
Mall
No.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, like that.
Rory
That's what I'd be trying to. So I hear you with the AX stuff and. And this and that, and I get it because it's Internet fodder. And that's funny. You could see. You could find Jay at a table and Jared Kushner, who's Trump's son in law, is right there.
Ron Taylor
This is.
Ad
And that.
Rory
If you try to bid on a building in New York City now, if he was Drake.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
You got to deal with the Kushners.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah.
Mall
At that point, it just has to happen.
Rory
This is not a. Like, politics is not involved in this.
Colin Coward
That.
Rory
That's billionaire. That I don't even understand. Like, I would never understand what it's like to bid on that type of thing. You got to deal with. With people that are insane.
Ron Taylor
Yeah. Maybe that's the money that we don't need to see, you know? I don't know.
Rory
Well, I mean, I guess the question is there.
Jeff T
Do you.
Rory
You not with it because you don't believe in the politics of the people that have already controlled it for the last hundred years? Or do you try to be a representation in it? I. I say that's where I think things.
Mall
Yeah, yeah.
Ron Taylor
Get your money. I think it's your money. I agree that if you're gonna be in that stuff, if you got the br. It's like what I was saying about brother Kevin Hart earlier. If you got the brain power to comprehend and deal with all that stuff, then go for it. Go Jay Z, you whoever. If you can do it, do it. You know, I'm over here trying to get this to stop screaming in a megaphone. So I got different problems. You know what I'm saying? I'm over here.
Rory
You should put her in front of the ROC Nation office. You will crumble.
Mall
I'm over here trying, but no, I
Rory
mean, with that type of stuff. Like, I think even with the HOV and the casino, the opportunities. And Kev, too. Like, I see Kev get a lot of slack.
Mall
That.
Rory
That I think is so unwarranted. Again, this is me outside looking in from business and from cultural. Look at my lack of melanin. If ke. If Kev could get in there and make sure everyone is represented, that's a start. No.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, if.
Rory
If Caesar's palace, which. I have my disagreements with casinos, but if you have HOV being one of the owners of Caesar's palace in Times Square, and he can make sure you get booked. Everybody gets booked. And they could do residencies every year here.
Ron Taylor
Yeah, yeah.
Rory
And he's. And he's also a businessman. His whole life doesn't have to be dedicated to what the culture is going to do. What the is wrong with that? I just don't see the problem with that. If you can make sure everybody around you, any talent you like, you get a residency. You get a residency. You get a residency.
Ron Taylor
I think, like. Like I said, man, some people just. They gotta find something to. To complain about that they don't feel right unless they get something to complain about. Like, there could be nothing wrong. Wrong. And then it's like. But I gotta complain about something because there. There is no angle of anything where it's like, all right, this is the rightest way. Nobody has no objections to it. So somebody is always gonna object. But I feel like the. The more success one finds or, you know, the more winning a person does, you know, the more some people wouldn't just be like, hey, I don't like this. Or this is bad because of whatever. Like the.
Jeff T
The.
Ron Taylor
The hate that Jay Z gets. A lot of times it's like, for what?
Mall
Right?
Ron Taylor
Because Kev.
Rory
I think Kev gets the same slack for no fucking reason.
Ron Taylor
And I've seen Brother Kevin go into that, like, you know, Jay Z, whatever. A long time ago. At least I didn't see him ascend. I saw Kevin Hart ascend from Soul Plane to. I'm a grown little man, and I've seen people enjoy him. And then I've seen people grow to hate him simply because, I don't know, the. Was wearing a nice shirt or you see him next to Oprah or something. They don't know nothing about his politics at this guy. Especially this one girl dated in Detroit.
Mall
This.
Ron Taylor
Think everybody worse to the devil if. If they got.
Rory
I've dated that girl too.
Mall
This.
Rory
This thing definitely dated that girl too.
Jeff T
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
Illuminati. That's what it Is. Yeah, she's well. Oh. Because I know what happened when she
Rory
found YouTube, because, boy, was that crazy. When I dated the Illuminati chick.
Mall
Oh, my.
Ron Taylor
Apparently I had got her when she had got out of the rabbit hole of YouTube.
Colin Coward
Yeah.
Ron Taylor
But she hit me up since and be like, yo, like, you're gonna get invited to Illuminati party now. And it's like, oh, yeah, you just want.
Mall
You just won Kevin Hart funny as. Yeah, you part of Illuminati.
Rory
I dated the Illuminati chick specifically when the Rick Ross Jay Z Freemason song came out because she was trying to tell me was a Freemason.
Ron Taylor
Yeah.
Rory
And mind you, I had never met Jay at this point at all. But I was like, I think you're overthinking some of this a bit.
Ron Taylor
Of course.
Rory
So to this day, I'm still cool with her. Like, we don't date. But, like, I talk to her from now and then she has legitimately asked me. Okay, so when they gonna ask you, like, to be gay? I'm like, are you still on this shit?
Ron Taylor
That is my issue is just the confidence with the wrongness. Like, you just know. Just without a doubt.
Rory
So when you're like, yo, I tried to tell you before you met all these people, I'm like, I promise you, we've not had gay sex. I promise you.
Ron Taylor
The fact that I don't know who I could tell this to, but the fact that people think gay sex is something that wild anyway, it's like, what's wrong? Like, that's the end all be all. Nobody say, kill babies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nobody is just a little. But, like, it's not that big a deal, man. I've never done it.
Rory
But, like, killing villages and oil pipelines are way crazier than men. Fucking men.
Ron Taylor
It's like, come on, man. This is not the people that worship the devil. The devil. We're in June. People butt each other all month.
Ad
This month.
Ron Taylor
It's not that wild. The Illuminati gonna make you suck dick. That's it. That's the worst thing. Then I get to meet the aliens.
Rory
I get the world secrets off a dick.
Ron Taylor
Suck. Wow. Some people don't Month of June, everyone would know. But, you know, more power to them. The Illuminati, all that good stuff.
Mall
Ron, let the people know where they can find you at, man.
Ron Taylor
Good people. You can find me on all social media at Comedian Ront. I got my website that just launched. That's comedian rontaylor.com. you can get all of my tickets to the tour. I don't know what we gonna call the tour, but Ron Taylor's on tour Tour

Ron Taylor
Beautiful, beautiful.
Mall
Definitely come and check out Ron. Ron, we appreciate you. It was a pleasure meeting you, my man. Looking forward to your ascension. Looking forward to everything that you're doing. And next time you're in the city, man, gotta come by and kick it with us some more, man.

Release Date: June 25, 2026
Guest: Ron Taylor
Theme: Fresh off his big break, comedian Ron Taylor joins Rory and Mal to talk about his comedy journey, the oddities of fame, his win on Kevin Hart's “Funny as F***,” and why he’s (probably) not Illuminati. Packed with insight, irreverence, and a hilarious look at the realities of the comedy grind and success.
