Welcome to Newts World podcast on the iHeart podcast network. I want to talk first about this California hospice care fraud case. I mean, California has more fraud stealing money from taxpayers in more ways than anything you can imagine. Earlier this year, the California Attorney General's office filed charges against 21 people tied to a $267 million MedCal hospice fraud ring. The defendants were accused of buying stolen personal information on the dark web, enrolling those identities in Medi Cal through covered California, and running 14 Shell Hospice companies that build the state Friend of Life Care. The patients were not dying and many of them did not even live in California. And the specific examples are hysterical. You cannot believe that the state of California is run so badly that it was sending out money the way they were doing it. But it's something they've done before, most notably when the criminals in the California prisons actually stole $20 billion using the prison computers during COVID You can't make this stuff up. It's just one more example why California is decaying and why the idea of the governor of California running for president is somewhere between a joke and a disaster. Now let me give you another example how the world's changing. There's been an enormous shift in West Virginia away from the Democrats towards the Republicans, towards the West Virginia Secretary of State Chris Warner reported that 68,235 voters have changed party affiliation since January 31, 2024. 16,910 switched from Democrat to Republican. 20,000 went from being unaffiliated to Republican. So The Democrats had 12,229 more people leave the party to become unaffiliated, while The Republicans only lost 7,559 to become unaffiliated. So the result is this is a state when I was young that was totally Democrat. Remember that West Virginia historically was totally Democrat, but as of April, data shows 519,000 registered Republicans against 327,000 registered Democrats and 301,000 registered independents. That is an enormous break. And by the way. If you read the work of Seth Keshel, who I think is the smartest single student of voter registration in America, he'll tell you that in almost every state the migration is toward the Republican Party and away from the Democrats. Coming up, Carl, I'm joined by Carl DiMaio, California State Assemblymember representing District 75. We're going to discuss the California voter ID ballot initiative that he is leading and which is now on the ballot. I am really pleased to welcome my guest, Carl DiMaio, California State assembly member representing District 75, which is north and east San Diego County. Carl also serves as chairman of Reform California, a statewide grassroots political movement dedicated to taking back California from far left politicians and special interests. There's so many things going on out there. Carl, I'm so excited that you're here. Let's just start with the governor's race, which with swell will stepping out under rather powerful duress that seems to have shaken that race up. But what's your sense?
