B
Oh, come on. This is way higher than anything. That would be low. This is Julius Randall's part of a 3:3 team deal. I'm excited about this one, Trey.
A
Let's take a look at it. An all star power forward was traded tonight. By draft day, it went down like this. The Minnesota Timberwolves shipping out the number 28 pick in this year's draft along with Julius Randle going to the Nets. The Nets are sending Nick Claxton to the Bulls. The Bulls are doing nothing and they're just seeing Nick Claxton fall into their laps. And then the Timberwolves also get the number 33 pick in this year's draft using their first round pick to salary dump Julius Randall to the Nets. I don't know where you want to start here task. Are you starting with what are the Timberwolves doing? Are you starting with the genius move? That the Bulls just made. Are you saying tell me everything about Michael Porter Jr. And Julius Randle United. I don't even know where to start.
B
I start with the Timberwolves because I'm most excited for them. Getting rid of Julius Randle, meaning they're putting Nas Reed into that starting lineup, getting rid of a lot of money, meaning they're going to be doing something else with that money. And also just switching it up. They needed to with their second round exit this postseason after going to the conference finals two seasons in a row. They definitely need to change it up. And Julius Randle out there as a ball stopper, wasn't able to move the ball, wasn't shooting the three ball well, wasn't helping out on the defensive end. I think this is, dare I say it, an upgrade. Literally being able to start Naz Reed. I know Julius Randall is a very talented guy and they're gonna lack some depth here, but after being able to move on from this money, 33 this coming year, 35 the following year for Julius Randle, that means you can do something with that money. And I think it was clear watching Minnesota Tim rules, they needed to go in another direction. They needed to move somewhere else. And they're putting a lot on Nasrid's shoulders. He was able to carry that very well this postseason. On those shoulders, he can shoot the three. That helps Rudy go bear offensively instead of cramping all that space up with Julius Randle. And Nas Reed's a better defender than Julius Randle. So I think you've made a good move here. I know it sounds a little nuts, but they got off the moody the money to try and go and get something else, whether it be beyond IO Dumu or it's just IO Dumu to give him some of that money. Is it crazy for me to say that this is a more well put together team this postseason? If we're. If we're saying this is now the 27 postseason Minnesota Timberwolves, and you've got Anthony Edwards and Dante DiVincenzo alongside Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert with IO Dumu coming off the bench, I think that's just more of a squad trey. Is that nuts?
A
Yeah, that's nuts, man. You're telling me literally, if they don't do anything else, that their team is better just shipping Julius Randall out? No way. They're better. I agree. Nas Reed a better fit in the starting lineup. I agree with everything you said about Nas Reed, but they're losing talent here. So I give this an incomplete because they have to do something with all the money they just cleared because as people are mentioning here in the stream team, the Wolves are going to be $52 million underneath the first apron. They now have moves to make with this gigantic trade exception. This was a cardi b money move, 100%. They need to do something with all of the space they cleared. Otherwise it's bad. You could still have Nas Reed and Julius Randle. You could put Julius Randle on the bench. Naz Reed was there for a couple of years. So unless they do something, which I think they will, I think this has to be a prelude to something coming in the future. What are they doing is the question. Are they going to try and get in on Jaylen Brown as a backup plan? Are they going to try and trade for Kyrie Irving coming off an injury? I don't know what it's going to be, but it's going to be a different co star next to Anthony Edwards, plus Naz Reed in the starting lineup. Then we can talk about the Timberwolves looking better. But if they just cheap out here and stay this far underneath the first apron, which isn't going to happen, I don't think that's going to happen. But if that's what they decided to do, this would be a major downgrade because they just gave away Randle for literally no reason. I agree the team needed a change up, but they could have changed it up anyways. So let's see what they do. For me, an incomplete right now, the
B
first thing they're going to do is pay IO Dusumo a decent amount of money to stick around. Yes, restrictive free. He's definitely going to be sticking around and I just think this changes the locker room now with Nas Reed in the starting lineup and Julius Randle, who honestly was again after last year's good postseason turned this postseason was just a bit of a ball stopper and not good defensively. Now, again a lot on Nazride shoulders but also on Jaden McDaniels. So of course they're going to want to go get somebody to this is all this is.
A
This is. I mean this is still honestly for me, all on Tim Connelly's shoulders because look at who they're chasing right now. This team, like you're saying, was a second round exit in the Western Conference. They couldn't hold a candle to the Thunder in last year's conference finals. The Thunder lost to the Spurs. Those are the teams they're Chasing and a team built of Anthony Edwards, Nas Reed and Jaden McDaniels, that's not good enough to get it done. So they need to get a legitimate second co star. And that's why they made the move. Because gearing up like this, even as if it's bringing back IO Dasumu, which they're going to, which they should, that's just not good enough in the Western Conference.
B
No, but I still think they're a better team in terms of who they're running out there. That squad that we mentioned.
A
But do you think they're.
B
Do you think they're.
A
This doesn't make a contender at all. Until they do the next move. They're. They're not better today. They might make more sense, but they're not good enough to win. And right now, Anthony Edwards is going into his prime. They need to be building for this guy. So let's see what they do next.
B
And that's why right now, to say
A
they're better now is. Or it now is. It just doesn't matter, really, if they're better now.
B
Well, because they're not good enough. You have to please your superstar, and you're pleasing your superstar by moving along, moving on a different direction from what they were yesterday. They had to. And that was a smart move to move on from Julius Randall. And you're trying to please a guy who is shaking hands early in the fourth quarter with the San Antonio Spurs. You needed to switch it up to be something different than they were the last two years. So I think it is a smart move. Of course they need to get deeper, but I think just this squad with an undrafted dog in Nas Reed and what he's become starting rather than Julius Randle, who honestly stopped the ball way too much, that was a big issue with them. Are they better today? Are they a contender? I think they are a better team, better squad in there than what Julius Randle offered this past offseason. And again, he's in his early 30s and he had to. They had to do something. You could definitely criticize Tim Connelly from moving on from Carl Anthony Towns 2 years ago. If we want to go back in that direction, for going to get Julius Randle, that was all about money and. And this definitely about money as well, but it's also just about the locker room and the chemistry there. So they had to move on. And I think it's a smart move.
A
I think it'll be a smart move if they do something. And I'm interested to see what they're doing because they've been chasing after this second legitimate co star next to Anthony Edwards. It has been Kevin Durant was a guy they wanted in the past. They tried to get into the Giannis sweepstakes. It doesn't seem like it's happening, but clearly they've got their eyes on somebody and that's kind of exciting for us. Emergency podcast wise, who's next for you? The Nets are the Bulls.
B
Well, what does that mean? The. Obviously, Nas Reed has got a big role now to fill in, but Jada McDaniels does as well. When Jaden McDaniels was able to to eliminate the Denver Nuggets in that closeout game, I know you, you gave him the connection to Kawhi Leonard in that game and he looked right in that one game. Yeah, yeah, I think. Are you more likely to say Nas Reed can take a bigger step for this team or Jaden McDaniels can take a bigger step for this team?
A
It has to be McDaniels, honestly. I mean, Nazri needs to be a better defensive player. He needs to rebound next to Gobert. But they need McDaniels to take a step forward as a score and they need Anthony Edwards to take a step forward as a playmaker because that's something they're going to really miss out on with Julius Randall. He was maybe their best creator for others in the starting lineup. So I don't know. Like, like I said, I don't think that the core that is left behind is good enough to compete as is in the Western Conference. Throw in Jalen Brown if they can get in on that, maybe. So throw in Kyrie Irving, maybe then we're talking. I don't know. But as is, that's like maybe a home court advantage team.
B
Yeah, obviously the Thunder and the spurs are definitely. They're the crown of the crop.
A
Yeah, sure. But I mean, like, exactly like I'm like, the, the Nuggets have a solid starting lineup, you know.
B
Yeah. The scary, the scary thing is they, even with DiVincenzo coming back, they still need another creator because DiVincenzo isn't that guy. Anthony Edwards still needs somebody to be that second star. And it looked that way for a second with Jaden McDaniels. And as much as Anthony Edwards pushes for him to be that second guy, it hasn't happened consistently. So it's on both McDaniels and Reed. But they do need more depth. There's no doubt about that.
A
They need more star power and that's that's the thing to me, because clock is ticking. Best thing that could happen to the Timberwolves is they get moved to the Eastern Conference very soon once expansion comes on.
B
But smart for Connelly not to do this exact same thing when your superstar is trying to be your superstar. And he would just be annoyed by it.
A
So what's next in your order of things you want to tackle? Is it more like the Bulls or the Nets here?
B
Well, the Bulls is more fun to talk about.
A
Yeah, they got Nick Claxton. We got Nick's Claxton for. Apparently the other Mo Gay is going to be going to. Somebody in the stream team is saying to the Timberwolves. Not even the Atlanta Hawks. Mogade, the former Toronto Raptor. Mogate, the other one. You gotta trade something to get in on this.
B
Yeah, this is a couple years of Nick Claxton money here, a descending contract. So it's cheap going to a team that is been cheap and that they don't have a lot of money assigned to anybody. The Bulls aren't paying a lot. So now they've got Nick Claxton to come in there and take up some of that money. So they're taking a chance. I know you've been down on Nick Claxton, Trey, and hey, it has. He hasn't paid off, he hasn't looked great, he hasn't been solid. But Thiago Slitter is going to say, hey, you know what I did when I was a member of the San Antonio spurs and they called me at the top of the key? I was dishing, I was passing it. Nick, can you do that? Nah, probably not. But we're going to try. They're going to try it for a couple of years. I mean, they don't give up a lot and they get him to play around with for a couple of years and see if Diego Splitter can motivate this guy who is super young.
A
He's Semi Young. He's 27 years old.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Super young, I guess is a strong way to put it. They got to pay somebody, they got to play somebody. Do I hate it? No. But will he live up to anything now? Will he be better than Patrick Williams? Of course. He's going to be your starting center.
A
Yeah, well, the Bulls literally didn't have a center, so this is good. Getting him for nothing. 23 and 21 million when you're paying basically giddy Patrick Williams and rookies like you can afford this. On Nick Claxton, who I'm with you. He is not been very good for the Nets, basically since the Durant, Irving, James Harden trio broke up. That was the last time we heard from Nick Claxton. He hasn't been a great center since. But the Bulls were playing Nick Richards, Gershon, Yabu Selle, Zach Collins, like some of the worst centers that are sticking around in the NBA. So they get this guy at 27 years old, set a screen, roll to the hoop. Giddy's a good setup man. He'll get you some easy dunks and be at least a defensive interior presence for a team that had literally nothing inside at the end of last year. They gave up nothing to get in on this. Very cool, good job by the Bulls.
B
Yeah. And they still have $30 million in salary cap room, so they can go sign another player if somehow they're attracted to the Chicago scene. But it just feels like it's going to be what you just said with Gideon Patrick Williams. I shouldn't even say Patrick Williams. I mean, that's not. That's not the excitement.
A
Oh, he's still going to be there. He's still going to be there. Don't you worry. No, it's going to be. The exciting parts are Giddy Boozelis and draft pick. Who is that draft pick going to be? Nick Clocks can run with those guys. Bulls might have, like, the skinniest team in the league at this rate. Bouzelis has no fat on his body. Nick Claxton has skin and bones. Caleb Wilson, he's got a little bit of girth to him, but not a huge guy. And Giddy, you know, he's. He's solidly built, I suppose.
B
Yeah. This is going to be a. A season of hope for the Chicago Bulls fans. And, I mean, they're gonna sell. They're gonna sell that. It's gonna be sold as that. You got a number four pick coming. You have Montes Bozellas. And, you know, beyond that, I mean, it's. It's a. It's a couple. It's a couple guys to say, hey, go do this. And that's all it's going to be. I say that there's 30,000, $30 million in cap room, but I don't think they're going to make a big splash at all. And the names aren't incredibly big anyway. I highly doubt they're overpaying for somebody to come along and save the day. That's the team.
A
And the team you're describing to me sounds like maybe the 8th to 10th worst team in the NBA. And I think that's completely the plan because that's where you get the most lottery balls now.
B
Yep. Draft time.
A
Yep. So good job by the Bulls. They have a competent guy who plays center now. That's exciting and it feels like they're making all good moves right now. I'm getting a little bit too excited about Bryson Graham. He hasn't messed anything up yet and I don't think it's going to happen starting tomorrow either.

B
It's so funny with them, he's automatically there. 1a, 1b player. They also have to pay guys like the Bulls. They're way below the salary cap floor. Even. So why not take on some talent? This is different for the Brooklyn Nets because they just wanted to have first round pick after first round pick after first round pick. They did that. It didn't work out. So they're bringing in a guy to help up. Do I like it? You know, are they going to be better than the than the Chicago Bulls? Probably. I mean, is it a lock? I don't know.
A
Interesting. I mean, okay, the Bulls got to 31 wins last year, but they were trying in the first half of the season. Nets got to 20 wins. It's going to be pretty close. I think you're gonna. It's gonna be pretty close. I think you would have to Favor the Nets, I think they'll have a higher over under. But yeah, the Nets, their first round pick is swapped with Houston for next year. So they don't have a lot of incentive to be the worst team in the league. There's also less incentive to be the worst team in the league now. And the Nets, even when they were tanking their hardest, couldn't get to worst team in the league status thanks to Jordy Fernandez. He was too good of a coach. They had to trade every good player away. But now they got a couple of guys who can at least win them 25 regular season games and that's good enough. And hopefully you can start getting close enough to the Rockets so that it's not super embarrassing when you have to swap picks with them next year. But at least they're getting some other picks in trades as well. And they got the number 28 pick. Maybe they'll be able to find somebody interesting late in the draft tomorrow.
B
Yeah, we're talking. Yeah, I think I would favor the Nets over the Bulls after, you know, last year the Bulls had IO for so long and Vuch for so long and Kobe White for so long before getting rid of them. So this is different. I think I would take a Michael Porter, Julius Randle duo over what the Bulls have right now.
A
You think kids will be going crazy for that when they're playing NBA Jam 2026 to play with Michael Porter Jr. And Julius Randle together. One guy has a 10 on threes, the other guy has a 10 on. Pushing actually might work.
B
I think Nets fans should be pretty upset that they didn't trade Michael Porter Jr. When his trade value was at its highest four months ago at the trade deadline. They're, they're. You know, his salary is interesting because it's just one more year of $40 million and somebody's going to be asking for him because he's a super talented dude. I wonder if they move on at some point just to get something. But they definitely could have got more four months ago.
A
Yeah, well, or maybe they couldn't because I'm sure they tried. And if the trade would have been there, if it would have been to their liking, they probably would have done it. But like, what's cooking in Brooklyn probably, you know, like, literally what are they trying to build right now? They picked five first rounders last year. None of them are like standout guys. Now they got Julius Randall, now they got Michael Porter Jr. It's just an odd brew.
B
Very odd.
A
And I think this is it. Pretty interesting. To think from David here in the Stream team are the Nets about to pick Mara at six now? A die Mara, the giant man from Michigan. Six seems like high for him in a draft con text, but maybe they would trade down. There were a team that was rumored to be hoping like the Kings would want to trade up with them or something like that. Maybe another team is interested in one of these guards and they think they can get Mara a little lower down because he does make sense to me for them as a big center prospect. Interesting.
B
Yeah. Hey, we were all down the nets a mere five seconds ago, just talking Porter and Julius Randall. But then. Yes, you threw in that comment about a Dai Mara. Yeah, it's starting to get a little more exciting. But they, you know, it would help if they had a.
A
You're a freak.
B
Capable. No, it's crazy, man. They need the. I can't. I'm not even that crazy. They need somebody who can create and after, you know, the, the Igor Droman experiment with Seraph and all the guards, you know, I thought maybe one of these guys would. Would pop and they're still young.
A
Maybe they could, you know, maybe, maybe.
B
It's super early. It's super early. But I'm more excited about the prospect of a die Mara then frankly. Anybody on that roster who, who, who can you really be super excited about on that roster at this point? It's not a lot for me.
A
They're still building, man. They're still on their way back. What did you think about Julius Randle being sent back to New York during the summer when the Knicks won the championship? People are saying it was going to be a sad moment for him.
B
Yeah, it is kind of dirty for him to go back there,
A
but man, they'll celebrate him. They'll love him. Knicks fan. Knicks fans will love this guy. I know it ended kind of poorly with New York, but you saw the outpouring of support for literally every Nick who ever played for the franchise, from mom, Donnie on down through the entire franchise. They're celebrating everybody. Julius Randall will be included. So welcome to the party, big guy. Who won this?
B
You can shoot. And Julius Randall, the biggest thing that he'll be excited about, he'll get his love and then he'll be able to shoot 20 plus times a game.
A
So that is nice. Yeah, get some shots. That's for.
B
But we're gonna.
A
We're gonna give some winners and losers here. And by winners, I mean we're just gonna give a winner. Who do you think won the deal task? The Nets who got Julius Randle and the 28th pick in this year's draft? The Bulls. Who got Nick Claxton or the Minnesota Timberwolves, who got a lot of salary cap relief and the number 33 pick in the second round?
B
The Minnesota Timberwolves won this trade. They have pleased their number one guy in Anthony Edwards. I think he will be much happier with that starting lineup with his dogs with him. They're going in another direction and they're not just running the same thing back. That didn't work last year in the postseason and they tried it a couple times before that. I mean, one time really before that. But it's time to change something. So I think they are the winners. Trey, what is the other one's just, you know, they make me feel pretty meh. There's nothing that's really a sell on me on in either way. So I think the Minnesota Timberwolves did the right thing as far as their front office goes. That was management. What do you think?
A
That was management. Well, look, you make a good case for the Timberwolves. And I can't say they're a loser until we see what they do with the space they're given. But if they do something, I think they can come out of this deal as a winner because I'm with you. The fit with Randall was never perfect. He can be upgraded and if they're able to upgrade, they definitely get the winner. But obviously the Bulls are a winner here. Getting Nick Claxton for free. Do you know he once finished ninth in defensive player of the year voting tasks. Nice. Nick Claxton. One time he finished ninth and now he's the starting center for the Bulls and they got him for virtually free.
B
Yeah.
A
So I'm giving them the winner. But for some reason, apparently the vote isn't going that way. The Bulls last in our poll here and the people are with you saying the Wolves are winners at 40 plus percent. I can't believe that. Do they know about Nick Claxton finishing ninth?
B
That must have been the year I loved him. Was that the year he led the league and field goal percentage at 70.5? Yes, it was.
A
Yeah, you're right. He did lead the league and field goal percentage and finished ninth in defensive player of the year voting in the same season. Free for the Bulls many years later. Seven seasons.
B
Yeah. Much higher paid, but again a descending.
A
Colton, thanks for coming by the stream. Thanks for saying hi. See, I'm like, I'm liking to see a lot more number two votes coming in here. If we stay on longer tasks. I think we can get the Bulls to winners because we're just going to roll back defensive highlights From Nick Claxton's 9th place finish in defensive player of the year voting. Remember, it was 20, 23. He was switching on the perimeter. Oh, I'm gonna drive by him. No, you're not. He's gonna meet you at the rim. He's gonna smack it away. That's a block. Kevin Durant got beat. Back door. That's okay. Nick Claxton's there. Ninth, baby.
B
Man, you're reliving your dreams from back then. You must add some great memories. That must have been the year. I loved him. I loved him, too, because. Yeah, you would think. You would think. So you said that was 23. That was his fourth year in the NBA. You think he would be ascending. But that didn't happen for Slick Nick.
A
Well, I mean, he ascended all the way to ninth. Not much higher. You can go only a few more spots. But speaking of spots, we're gonna be watching some spots tomorrow. Draft spots. Come and join us for the no dunks watch party. We're gonna eat food. You know, someone said pizza, someone said bargers.
B
That's the hot rumor. Food will be eaten. Do you ever watch any of those videos where people show you that they're eating something from somewhere? It's just. It's just a hot thing. It's been going on for a while, but it's just like. You mean like eat this thing, Have
A
a meal in a car from.
B
Yeah, usually it's a car or could be anywhere. And you just hear. You just hear somebody smacking on something and I hate that. It's gross, but it happens. Are you a fan? Because maybe we can do tomorrow on the live stream.
A
Oh, we're gonna be eating on stream for show.
B
I think. We're not like, who was that? Was that Christian Winfield? Am I saying his name wrong?
A
Who ate in brought wings into the press conference? It might be us.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we kind of back away from the mic. We don't just.
A
Yeah, we're polite eaters on stream for sure. You want to go savage mode tomorrow?
B
Yeah, why not?
A
Yeah. Gross. Eating tomorrow for the draft in suits and. Yeah, we are still waiting for the honest trade. Bill Simmons said it was going to happen tonight. Come on, man. Or tomorrow morning. He said. What do you think? Call it right now. Task. It's 11:28pm Eastern Time. Will we be heading into the classic factory tomorrow? When we wake up tomorrow, will we be going into the classic factory.
B
We will not know the unsteady Kobo trade. So, no, we won't be going in, I think. Here we go. You know, a tiny bit of a conspiracy theory. Everything is getting pushed. Everything is getting pushed back as far as the honest trade goes to minutes before the drafts. So it can be a hot, hot topic during the draft and people will tune in even more. So people are tuning in for the draft, but then you get the Giannis juice. Yeah, why not? Why not do it tomorrow?
A
Biggest draft ever is what it sounds like to me.
B
It's going to be a long night. I'm going to stock up on energy.
A
Stock up on energy. Because it's going to be a long night tomorrow. We're going to be eating like crazy. Giannis is getting traded during the pre drafts show. The Bulls are drafting whoever the next person is that's going to lead them to championship number seven. It's exciting night for everybody. Join us tomorrow. Literally. What time is the draft? Is the draft at 8 o'? Clock? That's too late.
B
These boys are young, eastern.
A
They're all about sleep now. I've seen it in some newsletters. These young kids are about getting good sleep. And you're telling me these 20 and 21 year olds are going to be out until 11pm on a Tuesday? That's ridiculous. The only guy I want drafted is the kid who says I'm skipping the draft because I gotta get to sleep.
B
Well, it's only the late picks that have to stay. Like the good picks are. They're gone by like 9:30 or something.
A
Wow, that's a great point. Good incentive to be good.
B
Yeah. And you get to go to your bed.
A
You can go back to sleep.
B
Your local Brooklyn hotel, they probably sleep in a nice hotel.
A
I bet they sleep in a beautiful hotel with a big bed.
B
It was like circular beds, like four, four players on them. That'd be weird.
A
Super weird. That'd be super weird. Okay, so for sure, draft party tomorrow. Tass is saying no trade tomorrow. But maybe save it for the watch party. Otherwise we're on emergency podcast Watch and Clipper Bros. You heard it here first. Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys. Awesome.
B
Thanks for joining us. And remember, you guys had the Wolves, the Nets and the bulls at about 33% as winners of the trade for a while. But then I started talking and I think I, I think I influenced some people out there and that, that made my night. So even if Giannis gets traded for a, a, a gyro and a pastizio and some tzatziki on the side. I'm going to bed happy tonight. I don't know why I'm naming Greek foods just because I had to rank all five Greek foods. Jackson got me and he got me with the hot dog at the end.
A
Yeah, hot dogs so bad. You got hot dogs so hard. I've never seen somebody get dog like that. Not for a long time. Embrace the night people on plus nicotine
