Tas Melas
Yes.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. Had to excise some guys.
Tas Melas
I didn't mean it to sound so.
J. Skeets
Beautiful, but we have a wedgie. First wedgie, number 34.
Julian Edelman
That's a quickie.
Tas Melas
Very, very real quickie.
J. Skeets
Jalen Smith sticks wedgie 34. Sticky Boy in Houston to second wedgie of the year, guys.
Julian Edelman
Really?
J. Skeets
For goggles. Yep.
Tas Melas
So, good stuff this one was. Yeah, I mean, we say every wedgie is a snowflake. This is not a snowflake to write home about. Just stuck it from the left wing like usual. Both broadcasts were just like wedgie. That was it. The game was too close to really go into the intricacies of what happened.
J. Skeets
Yeah, I'll probably be giving that half a wedgie on the Ralph Lawler wedgie scale when I get to grading them at the end of the week, because there was no even fanfare from the broadcast, really. I mean, wedgie was said, but at this point, that's like the bare minimum. I need more than that. So it's half a wedgie. Maybe one wedgie. You know what? One wedgie. Because it's his second wedgie of the season. That's something. That's something.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Okay. You all right?
Julian Edelman
I'm good. You know, whenever you see somebody with goggles, fire a wedgie, I wonder, can he see? Is that why he missed him? Missed the hoop?
Tas Melas
Great question.
J. Skeets
Possibly. Let's get into last night's games because we had the defending champions responding to three straight losses to the spurs with the 119,98 home win Tuesday night in the latest rematch of the top two teams in the West. So OKC gets it done. Shay Gildrich Alexander scoring 34. And they ran away in the end, but a massive, massive third quarter to blow this game open. Test.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, and I thought Jalen Williams was the difference. I think he is their X factor in general. I Know, it's not satisfactory for people to say the second or third best player on their team is the X factor, but I think he is. And I think this was his best game of his season since coming back from his injury where he's just decisive, making the smart decisions. Seeing Victor Wembanyama coming out on defense to wards Chet Holmgren. So he goes the other direction. I'm going left and get able to get past Justin Champagne. He liked going at Justin Champagne last night. He sure did. Also just, just really, really smart. Wemby's in the lane. Oh no, I'm pulling back. I'm getting the heck out of here. Making the right cuts that we saw all last year in the finals, man is a cut machine. Making that exact right timing to receive it in the middle and then most likely try and lay it up or find somebody with his passes. I thought his passing was really great, his defense was great. And I just think that guy is the guy that sets them apart from every other team because I know their defense is going to be there every single season, every single game. Shea is going to be there, but he is that, that second guy to really make it work. And it's the cuts, it's the fast breaks. He just knows that precise timing. I thought it was the difference. And that's why Jalen Williams, it's kind of under the radar that this guy has been injured most of the season because you know, Chet was awesome, this whole team was awesome and Jalen Williams was just a guy coming back. But he is really, really important to this team and he was the one who put them over the edge last year. I thought, you know, when he started to click, you know, he had a bad second round game. Game six of the Denver Nuggets series, Game seven. He was friggin awesome. Or am I getting the game's mistaken? There was a game 5 to game 6. Either way, it was the, I think what makes them best offensively. So it's great to see him back.
Tas Melas
Yeah, J Dub was awesome. He's going to have a really up and down season. It feels like this year coming off a shooting wrist injury, he's got this fancy glove that keeps his hand warm. You look at his game last night, I agree with you. He played really great. And I thought the quick decision making was kind of the difference for the Thunder going against the spurs last night. But he didn't take a three pointer, didn't make a shot that wasn't at the rim. But he was also getting to the rim all the time. I think the jumper is kind of going to be a struggle for J Dub this season. He's kind of said the same. He's like, this isn't the sort of thing where you get your hand fixed and instantly it's back to the way it was before. It's going to take some working through and obviously that's still happening. But when you start talking about Jalen Williams, I wasn't even sure which one you were talking about. They were both awesome last night. J A Y L I N J Will was really solid off the bench. 11 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, hit a couple of threes and I thought the three point shooting was important for OKC last night as it always is. They only went 11 from 30 from 3, which doesn't seem great, but it's the first time in six games that they've even been over league average. Like I said, Williams J will hit a couple, but more importantly, Kayson Wallace hit 2 for 3, Alex Caruso hit 2 for 4. These are guys that are being left open right now. They've really struggled with their shot recently, so knocking them down really put OKC over the top. Cause to me, even though the defense was good for the Thunder yesterday, I thought they won it. On offense, possessions were about the same. You know, both teams forced about the same number of turnovers. They got beat on the offensive glass by the spurs, but free throws were about the same. Shot attempts were about the same, but OKC has been 13th in the NBA in offense in their last 15 games. But last night, 56 points in the paint, they shot 70% with Wemby defending. I thought they were just really smart at the way they were attacking him and not being scared to actually go at him. He's got to block your shot sometimes, but apparently you can still score over him occasionally.
J. Skeets
Yeah, it was awesome that they wanted this win too. Obviously, having been beaten three times by them, it sounds silly that a team that was what, 33 and 7 going into last night's game, they are the defending champs. It sounds stupid to say this was a must win game, but like they sort of approached it that way. Like hey, we can beat them. They're not our kryptonite. We can figure them out. And you know, that was still missing a couple of their key guys in Lou Dort and Isaiah Hartenstein. But you guys said all these other guys that stepped up and AJ Mitchell being back too because he missed the previous two Thunder spurs games. As many noted. Nice to have another guy that can handle the Ball a little bit can create either his own look or for others or even just get to the free throw line to stop the bleeding. When the spurs did make a couple comebacks. So I think it was important to have him back too. Just another guy. Because when you're playing the spurs like they have a lot of elite defenders on the perimeter and you can, you can play aggressive with Wemby Roman behind you. You need a guy that can sort of beat somebody off the dribble. J Dub was doing that shake and do that. And there's not a whole lot of other guys. But AJ Mitchell I think is one of those guys. Reggie Miller was loving him on the broadcast. Oh my God, he is a certified bucket getter. So it was nice having back.
Julian Edelman
I think Reggie gets excited to see left handed guys. I don't know why. I think he just got a thing for left handed guys. But this team look like OKC of last year because AJ Mitchell produced, because the other Jalen Williams produced. To have three guys that were in double digits off the bench, plus an Isaiah Joe that was splashing, had eight points himself. They run deep. And so when everybody's hitting from all sides, especially Jalen Williams, the bencher, the big guy to come off with Hartenstein out to play against Wembanyama was key. They needed that depth. And you know, we didn't even mention Aaron Wiggins who didn't have a spectacular stat line. I thought he was really good too. Most of the night everybody was going at Wemby, but smart enough to stay away from him when they had to. But to kick ass in the points in the paint department with a man like that on the other side is important. 56 to 40. So they scored 28 buckets in the paint. That's a lot of buckets.
J. Skeets
40 to 24 in that third quarter when OKC blew the game open. And I think you said it there, that was the most the Thunder have looked like the Thunder in a long time. In at least a couple weeks. If you've been watching a lot of games. That was the. The Thunder of old or the Thunder of earlier this season that, that third quarter especially. And look, the Spurs. I thought the game was over at one point. Spurs suddenly ripped off like an 110 run to get right back into the game. But of course the Thunder did it again. It was cool to see SGA talking some shit too. This guy's obviously pretty level headed when it comes to playing and his emotions. But even he hit that one three near the end of the third Quarter. Did his celebration to the crowd, and then looked like he was talking some to Castle there, which is awesome. And then Ken Williams hit a three. And you know, he contributed as well. Kenrich Williams playing Wemby.
Julian Edelman
Yes.
J. Skeets
Put the smaller guy and just get up and under him and try and tire him out and just hit him as much as you can. That's the game plan. Or that's what they did.
Julian Edelman
Everybody. They threw everybody at him. Awakens, obviously. Yeah. J Dub, Caruso, they. All of them.
J. Skeets
Yeah. And. And Chat tried to play him, too. And felt like Wemby was dunking on him. Every time Chet was on him, he did.
Tas Melas
I guess the first two times that he really touched the ball. Right. He had the face up on Chet, gets to his fingers, probably hit the rim. I don't know. It was close enough to a dunk. Then the give and go. Alley oop from the corner with Stefan Castle. That was ridiculous. Throwing an alley oop over Chad. It's crazy that Chet's like. If you're picking a guy, just looks wise. Who's like the best matchup for Wemby, it's probably Chad. And he got lit up the most by of anybody on the Thunder. But they have enough options. They could do it. I thought their small ball in the third quarter was kind of the difference. It was when J Will was out there, when Ken Rich Williams was out there, J Dub was getting to the hoop as well. The space was definitely given the spurs problems. And, you know, Wemby slowed down, at least I thought, in the second half. These two teams feel like they don't like each other. But Reggie was trying to tell us this isn't a rivalry. It's not a rivalry until they play each other in the playoffs.
J. Skeets
He's right. Yeah.
Tas Melas
And I think maybe it was J Will post game said, if you have to ask if it's a rivalry, it's not.
Julian Edelman
Okay.
Tas Melas
I mean, thinking about it, we're five times this season.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
And we're.
J. Skeets
We're projecting for it to be a rivalry because they're both young, they're both awesome. We hope we get postseason matchups, like, I don't know, like three or four times in the next half a decade here. Right. That's the plan. Whether it's in a second round or conference finals or whatever. It is like they should run into each other because they look like they're going to be awesome for a long time here.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
So hopefully it's that. And they have, you know, obviously some hate for each other, too. Which is great.
Julian Edelman
It's fantastic. But they are level headed guys. It doesn't feel like they're just going to fly off the wheel where they're just not going to be good anymore. So it does feel like they're going to be in the same arena every April or May. Reggie, don't worry. We're getting a rivalry. It sure feels that way. I thought, you know, wemmy could have brought it a little bit more offensively. I thought he tried to throw an alley oop when he could have gone and scored himself.
Tas Melas
I don't know.
Julian Edelman
Listen, it's all right when you win three or four games against this team. I mean that's, that's pretty damn good. So they're. The Thunder are now 34 and 7 midway through the season, on pace for 68 again. I guess if you, if you look at it, you know, on pace for 68 wins.
J. Skeets
And we've been like, ah, what's wrong with them? They're not that good right now. Why are they struggling against good teams? Sort of funny.
Julian Edelman
And I thought that too watching it. Alex Caruso in the first quarter when he missed that layup that Harrison Barnes got a piece of and then he was at the other end where there was an airball by the spurs and it just went off Caruso's hand and out of bounds like, oh, we're getting bad Caruso night. Then open three, splash. Then he alters his shot on the defensive end. So he contributed too. We haven't mentioned his name, but you know, this team has too many fricking guys to mention. They literally have too many guys. I will say Stefan Castle on the other side. It's just so fun. I love him. He's so fun.
J. Skeets
I love it. He's all about the smoke too, you know. I love it. It's great. It's fantastic. I hope, I hope, I pray when they, they see each other in a postseason. Yes.
Julian Edelman
He is so precise, man.
J. Skeets
He's good. He's very good. I wanted to ask you. Now you're a foot shorter than Wembanyama, but you are the tall guy in most leagues or runs that I play with you. Is there some truth to the smaller guy being more of an issue? Maybe the stout, stronger guy than another tall guy playing you? What's your opinion?
Tas Melas
100%. I hate a smaller guy guarding me. Dating back to Nelson. Remember Nelson?
J. Skeets
Oh, yeah.
Tas Melas
Gave me problems.
J. Skeets
He was a physical guy.
Tas Melas
He was a physical guy. He could mess with my center of gravity. I couldn't lean on him and Push him over. Same thing with Paolo on Thursday nights. There's just certain guys, they're smaller, they're stronger. I think referees give those kind of players a little bit of leeway against a taller, skinnier guy like Wembanyama. So, like I said, like, Chet was getting some buckets dropped on him by Wemby, and it just seems like it's a harder to attack a smaller, stout guy like Kenridge Williams in this game. Like we've seen, Julius Randle had an effect on Wemby. The Suns did the same thing with Royce o' Neill guarding him. So this does seem to be at least one of the tools you have to have in your toolbox going against the Spurs. You gotta have a fire hydrant to go against a fire hose.
J. Skeets
You took the words literally right off my page. I was gonna say it's more important to have a fire hydrant than a fire hose. To put out a fire like Wembanyama.
Tas Melas
It's a great point.
J. Skeets
Incredible. But I saw you say fire hydrant for Julius Randall in the substack power rankings the other day, and I thought last night, I was like, I guess Chet's the fire hose. He is in this weird metaphor we have going here. Okay, you need the fire hydrant.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, no doubt. This is the time of the year where we're looking for nicknames. I feel like they start to get more and more creative. Like watching Luke Cornett and hearing the Shakespeare quote that he dropped, apparently from the sideline report. Am I misremembering? He said he had, like, a shake. Was it a Shakespeare quote? Maybe I'm misremembering watching Luke.
J. Skeets
What did he say?
Julian Edelman
Ah, it's. It's already out.
Tas Melas
Out damn spot.
Julian Edelman
Maybe all's well that ends well. I don't. Oh, now you're just going.
J. Skeets
To Stevenson saying this?
Julian Edelman
She did. It was early in the game, I thought. Missed it, I guess. Yeah, I thought she mentioned it when. And then he pulled out when he was grabbing every offensive rebound. He was celebrating himself, and he went to the sideline and did a little thing. I don't know if it was a motorcycle. You know, we're starting to think of nicknames. Stefan Castle the conductor is what I think of when I watch him. Now, I'm not trying to go like, alliteration, like Castle the conductor, but just watching him orchestrate everything. The lobs, how he's able to stop whenever he has a ball and. And do anything he wants in full control. He's the conductor for me. Okay, well, that role. Probably not. Will that be the last time I mention it? Maybe. But I feel like watching him, that's what he does. Otherwise he's just Stefan Castle. He's never. I don't know if he'll ever.
J. Skeets
Cool name.
Julian Edelman
It is.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Yeah.
Julian Edelman
It's good enough.
J. Skeets
Very cool name. He's got a cool look. Yeah. I may not have to mess with it that much. That was a cool play when Wemby gave it to Castle and then Wemby did the. Yeah, I love that when he's like. He's at the three point line. Just chuck it up, man. And he's like, okay, I'll throw it up. And he threw down the dunk. Anything else from this one? I thought the SGA block on Wemby helping out. Yeah, on that.
Julian Edelman
Cool.
Tas Melas
SGA had a decent game.
J. Skeets
Yeah, 34.
Tas Melas
Like in passing we're mentioning this guy.
Julian Edelman
I know.
J. Skeets
And he started poorly. Like, poorly. Right. He couldn't hit a shot to begin. It's like. It's okay. Don't worry. He'll get it going. He'll continue to attack. He'll continue to get to his spots.
Julian Edelman
He'll get there.
J. Skeets
He'll draw some, obviously fouls. You know, he did bang knees with Wembanyama. Wembanyama went through it last night. He was on the ground a couple times.
Public Ad Host
That one.
J. Skeets
You know, that was just accidental where SJ is driving and then his one knee just bangs into Wemby's. He's like.
Julian Edelman
Ah.
J. Skeets
Can see it on the side of it. Then he's like massaging it with his crazy long fingers on the side. See that shot?
Tas Melas
So crazy.
J. Skeets
Too long. Yeah. He was awesome. He's the mvp, I guess. Probably again here right now with Jokic being out.
Tas Melas
Yeah, seems to be. So I also think it's kind of funny to start a Coast to coast Tuesday with the most middle team in the NBA. OKC is like the most middle. Far away from any coast possible. It ain't really coast to coast.
J. Skeets
That's fair. But it's a great game. You got to put it.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Plains to coast doesn't hit quite the same.
J. Skeets
Nope. Anything else? All right, we'll move on because we got to get to this story. Giannis booing his own fans last night. Milwaukee. So the Bucks were down by 30 points heading into halftime last night. This is against the Wolves, who are playing without Anthony Edwards. Rudy Gobert serving his suspension. So they're down two of their best guys. They're getting waxed on their home floor. Well, Milwaukee, they boo the home team as they exited the court. Well, Giannis sat in that locker room stewing all halftime. Cause he comes out, he scores the first basket of the second half, and he got knocked down as an and one. He's on the ground. He decides, two thumbs down, I'm gonna boo your ass back. So he boos the Milwaukee crowd. We've seen him do this on the. That makes a lot more sense. When you know the opposition is booing you, you boo back. Hadn't seen this before where he booed his own fans. And he was asked about it after the game. He had a lot to say. I won't read the whole thing, but he said, whenever I get booed, I boo back, and I don't care if it's the home team. So, look, there's some frustration is what we're getting at here from Giannis and how his team played in this game.
Julian Edelman
He is a mad man. That is for sure. Doesn't mean he wants to be traded over the next three weeks. But he is angry. He's angry at his own team, he's angry at himself. Now, when he was fouled with three seconds left in the first half, he went clank, clank from the free throw line and then walked into that locker room. Yes, steaming. And then he came out and had that N1 where he freaking hit the ground hard. And so, yeah, from his butt, he boos the fans on the baseline. Then he gets up and he turns to the sideline and Doc Rivers sitting in front of that going, what. What am I supposed to do with this guy? Am I supposed to pull him off the floor? Am I supposed to talk to him? You know, they just let him be. He's just mad at his team. The way they came out, they stunk. They were horrendous from the get go. Doc river said yesterday, I think we kind of had dead legs. Somebody asked Yanis about that. He said, nah, nah, they had the day off. Yeah, he did. And he said, I'm never going to say I. I don't have legs. I'm never going to say that. I. I'm going, sorry. I'm going to say that I could do things better. This guy's just always, just always positive. And that's what he's going to take from this. I think he said. He literally said in his post game, I love it, I love it. Then he likes people booing him for the first time ever at home. He feels like he was asking reporters. The first time.
Tas Melas
So the first time, do you remember me being booed at home. How dare they boo me? But I'm the leader in every category.
J. Skeets
Yeah, I was about to say you didn't have that part, that he was like, I've been here 13 years and I'm basically an all time leader in everything. So, okay, your choice to boo me. But, yeah, you know, he was mad. He was a little pissed.
Julian Edelman
He's a little pissed. Not to the level that he's saying, I'm done here in the next three weeks. Now, six months from now, when it's the off season and they still stink, that's a possibility. But this team was just super, super bad yesterday. Very bad.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Minnesota had five dunks in the first half, hit 13 threes in the first half. It was not a good effort from the Bucks, but unfortunately for their fans, there's no way to convey to Giannis that we're booing the team. Not you specifically. You're the one who's actually playing well right now. We're booing everybody else and also Doc Rivers. But Giannis was also looking pretty sad on the bench late in this game. Some say he was crying. Who knows? He was definitely shaking his head, rubbing at his eyes. I thought he was a little bit of adverse, a little bit adversarial post game. It's just a stressful time for the Bucks right now because every loss is just going to bring more and more questions about what is the future of Giannis there in Milwaukee. And right now they are in the midst of a pretty tough stretch. They lost to the warriors, they beat the Lakers, lost to Denver without hardly anybody playing. Lost to Minnesota last night. No Edwards, no Go Bear up. Next they've got on the road against the spurs, on the road against the Hawks, then home against the Thunder, and home against Denver again. That takes us through next Friday. Like, the Bucks are not playing great right now. That could be a 2 and 6 stretch. And then it's just more and more questions for Giannis about what's going to be happening here. So I don't know. It's just tense times all around in Milwaukee. Every loss is like the sky is falling.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, yeah, that's totally true. And from the other side, they're off. They're the John Horst, and all of them have to be deciding, are we going to make a move and trade a future draft pick, essentially, because I think that's a big part of the package going out of Milwaukee, the biggest part, because no one's extremely appealed at. Bring it on. Kyle Kuzma. Or others.
J. Skeets
Bobby Portis.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, that's the way it is.
J. Skeets
There's not a lot, not a lot on that roster besides Giannis, really. I mean, Ryan Rollins is a young, talented guy. In theory. You'd want to keep him if you're on then, yeah, it was. They got destroyed. And the fire hydrant himself, Julius Randall, he was good. He was a monster game. Was sort of flirting with a triple double. I guess he was a little bit off in a couple of the categories, but good game and just a dominant win. And then it was like garbage time and got to see a bunch of Wolves guys you don't get to see play all that often. My guy, Leonard Miller cooking in limited minutes.
Tas Melas
Joe Ingles played eight minutes.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Yeah. I mean that's how bad it was.
Tas Melas
Yeah. That's gotta be his longest stint of the season. I would have to imagine.
J. Skeets
Probably.
Tas Melas
I don't know, it looks like he's got another eight minute game here earlier.
J. Skeets
He's good for Joe Ingles. All right.
Julian Edelman
Just quickly to go back to Luke Cornett. I believe he told Sora Stevenson that the Spurs Thunder are not a rivalry. They are not a Shakespearean rivalry. And he said Capulets and Montague is Shakespeare. So that's what he was talking about. And that's what Zora brought to the table. She gave her sideline report and Luke Cornett's not ready to call it a Shakespearean rivalry.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, cool.
J. Skeets
Fair enough.

Let's go quickly to Miami Heat. Bam Adebayo scored 29. This guy one of his best games of the season without a doubt. Now the Heat did blow a 20 point lead but they rallied at the end when they came back to top the Sun. So these are two good teams. Obviously Miami and Phoenix and Bam scored like was it 13 straight there down the stretch and then it was Norman Powell taking over with Jaime Hawkez Jr. Setting up both of those buckets. Had a nice little flip to Norm in the paint for the one little jumper and then he found him in the corner For a three. Those were big as they got a good victory here and I think again with Bam playing really, really well. Any thoughts on the. The victory from Miami?
Julian Edelman
Yeah, Jaime Hawkez has developed as a playmaker. He is their secondary playmaker. He assists on a quarter of the team's buckets when he's out there. Davion Mitchell leads him, but he is pretty important. Yeah, those two assists to Bam who was splashing threes. This was splash time for Bam to hit two back to back buckets. Now, he's taken the most of his career this season and he had four in this one. That's tied for second most of his career. He doesn't hit a lot of threes, period. So that was a big factor. Yeah, we give up this lead and I'm going to help us solidify a win so he hits that second one and then he went into a, a celebration with his hands behind his back, like, like a relaxed thing. Like, okay, I interpret that as there's going to be an All Star game, but I'm going to be relaxing on the beach because I'm not going to be invited. I mean, that's the way. I don't know. I don't know if him and Asia Wilson, they got a celebration that they do or something. I don't know. I don't know what that was. But 29 points for him. That was his second. I mean, you know, I'm not reading into anything. That's the relationship.
J. Skeets
I'm laughing because if that's his celebration with AJ oh, we're cool. D' Angelo music video Sorry.
Julian Edelman
But he looks good. He looks good. Obviously 29 in this game. That's the second most of his season and he just had to come back and save the team. It's going to be interesting what they do. We'll get to their trade deadline and if they add something around that guy. But a good win for, for them just to save the day at the end of the game.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I thought it was a much needed win for the Heat. They'd come in having lost three straight. The Suns were rolling. I think maybe they had one three straight. And once it flipped to Phoenix after the Heat blew the lead, I was like, oh, this could be kind of a crisis for Miami. But basically Bam checked in, got a steal right away, started making plays, hitting three pointers and then Powell brought him home. Even though the Suns had looks for Grayson and Dylan Brooks to tie the game could have made. I mean, the Grayson Allen one was a little deep, but Dylan Brooks I thought was a pretty solid look from the corner. It does feel like the Heat are starting to run pick and roll more often, especially with Tyler Hero and Bam. They've been playing together for what, I don't know, five seasons now at this point, so they got the chemistry, and it's a good wrinkle that I think the Heat need. You know, there's a reason that the pick and roll is the most used play in the NBA for every other team besides Miami. But that was Bam's first 20 plus point game since December 15th. The guy's been struggling for sure. Right now. The Heat's fortunes have kind of followed alongside Bam's struggles here. So they needed that win. Bam needed to have a game like this where he goes out and looks like an offensive weapon.
J. Skeets
Good work by Phoenix to get back in the game and even take the lead in the fourth. But they did have some brutal turnovers down the stretch, too. You had Mark Williams, he had some happy feet under the rim, got called for the travel. Then you had Grayson Allen stepping out of bounds on the sidelines when they were inbounding the ball in front of the Miami Heat bench there. And then Dylan Brooks, he brought up that three point attempt from the corner. It was a good look. I think he was a little too concerned with maybe trying to draw the foul instead of trying to hit the shot as he airballed it. And then he got called for the flagrant foul as after he releases the shot, decides to like sort of hit and pull down Wiggins. I think it was in the corner. And then that was basically the game. Only Dillon Brooks could somehow get a flagrant foul while he's the one shooting the three point shot in the corner. This guy, man. But yeah, just a couple bad turnovers there down the stretch.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, it's hilarious with the camera angle. You see Dylan Brook's hand, the way he, you know, releases the ball. It's so funny just seeing the front of a hand. It's just such rare, rare form on that guy. And Grayson Allen, I thought he almost was. He was feeling it, man. Like he had six threes last night. We were. I thought we were going to. We might get the best Grayson game we've ever had. I mean, he is. He's had a few of those games where he gets on fire.
Tas Melas
He had a 40 this year, right?
Julian Edelman
Yeah. Was it 40?
J. Skeets
Was that this year? Yeah.
Julian Edelman
That's a lot of points.
J. Skeets
A long time ago.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
So I heard Eric Collins call him kabooms, Kabams. And Kapows.
J. Skeets
Eric Reed.
Tas Melas
Eric Reed, yes. Not Eric Collins. Can you imagine him yelling kaboom? I can actually kapow. That one made me laugh. I think he also called. I think he called Andrew Wiggins. Mr. Pogo man on a put back. Hey, Mr. Pogo Man.
J. Skeets
Other games last night, Jimmy Butler scored 16. Curry had a bunch of assists. Warriors beat the Blazers. No Denny Abdia Duran had 28. Chengun double double. Rockets beat the Bulls in a high scoring affair. Jamal Murray, Peyton Watson. Awesome games. Nuggets beat the Pelicans in a close one. 122, 116. And LeBron flirted with the triple double. He just missed the triple double. Lakers crushed the hawks. Sad kaka. 141 to 116. Any thoughts on any of those four games?
Julian Edelman
Well, I'll start with that game where LeBron was awesome. JJ Redick, press conference post game was asked about LeBron. He's. And he. He just kind of went off a little bit. He got mad. He said it's unfortunate how much he puts into it, how much he cares and how certain people talk about him. I don't know if he was calling out somebody specifically, but it wasn't no dunks, that's for sure. Because we talked about his patch that he's wearing on his jersey yesterday and we praised him for what he's done to achieve that patch those 23 seasons. Because Reddick was saying, this guy's already in the ice tub. He's already trying to get better for the next game. That made me want to get in the ice tub again because I haven't done it in a while. Probably when Grayson Allen had a good game where he scored 42 is the last time that I've been in an ice top. Probably two months ago now thinking about it. But Anyway, they win. LeBron looks great. I will say my man D. Anthony Melton looked great for the Golden State Warriors. That ACL injury is starting to repair. 23 points in 18 minutes. That guy, he belongs in the rotation. And to see him sort of as the go to guy off the bench helped out because Curry's got a bad game. Jimmy Butler's hair looking good. But you know, they needed something. And I just want to Note Michael Porter Jr. On the courtside. You guys see the videos of him recording himself watching the Denver Nuggets play. So he just happened to be in New Orleans watching the Denver Nuggets play New Orleans Pelicans. He's like, he looked. Flip the camera. He's like recording himself. He's like recording the game. He's like, oh, p wat peton Watson takes it to the hoop. That kind of thing. It's like, whoa, this guy's a multi camera shoot here by himself. But he was there to support his former team. No other reason. You know, people can speculate he's getting trade, but yeah, I think he just likes his old teammates. Okay, that's about it.
Commercial Voice
That's about it.
Julian Edelman
And you know, good, good camera awareness, I think on his part. Didn't. Didn't see that coming. Just didn't know he had in his game. I thought his podcast is recorded by others and he just sits there but curious.
Tas Melas
Mike is a multi platform superstar.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, he's curious.
J. Skeets
He was curious. How does that camera work exactly?
Tas Melas
It turns around.
Julian Edelman
How does it do that?
Tas Melas
Oh, the swirly one.
J. Skeets
Cool. Any takeaways?
Tas Melas
Yeah, I mean some games are a tale of two halves. Warriors vs Trailblazers was a tale of one half. Warriors were up by 26 at halftime and never really threatened in the second half. Portland got back into it, but the warriors were just too good. Last night. Blazers were trying to get the ball out of Steph's hands. He said okay. Had 11 assists. Golden State assisted on 34 of their 42 makes 21 players in this game hit a three pointer NBA record between the warriors and the Trailblazers. Every single Trailblazer that played hit a three. Hit a three.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Wow.
Tas Melas
That's pretty crazy.
J. Skeets
I didn't see that.
Tas Melas
Yeah, so that was interesting. And also Rockets Bulls was just a fun game. 35 lead changes, 19 ties. Rockets biggest was 9. Bulls biggest lead was 4. It was close the entire time. And Houston out executed the Bulls, I thought in the fourth quarter. And that's kind of been a bugaboo for Houston. Shout out to Destiny's Child. It wasn't last night.
J. Skeets
Yeah, it was. They needed that win.
Julian Edelman
In all honesty, I, I do hope for Hanson Young's head to be all right. I mean he got hit Young Hansen. I like call them both because we call them both. He got hit in the head by a knee and he had to leave the floor in that Portland game. You just reminded me of that Trey when you, you mentioned every single Blazer splashing including Hanson Young.
Tas Melas
One for three.
Julian Edelman
Do up wreath splashing. Didn't see that coming. A lot of splashers.
J. Skeets
Back to the Lakers game for a second. I hope JJ Redick read Tom Ziller's newsletter this morning. Oh, because Ziller noted three active players in the NBA who made their league debut before 2007. Here are their points per averages per season. Here are their points per game averages for this season. LeBron James, 22.4. Chris Paul 2.9 and not playing, and Kyle Lowry 1.0. And Zillow went on to say, lebron is, of course, the last player standing from the 03 draft. No one left in the league from the 04 draft. Chris Paul, the last player standing, I guess, from the 05 draft. Lowry, the last player standing from the 06 draft. And then four guys from the 2007 draft. Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Mike Conley, and Uncle Jeff Green.
Tas Melas
He's on a team.
J. Skeets
Right. And so his point, Durant, the only one from this group producing at a level like LeBron still is. And KD entered the league four years later. Pretty wild. There you go. JJ Redick.
Tas Melas
That's nice.
J. Skeets
Yeah, that's very nice. It is absurd. It's wild.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. And that's why it feels like he ain't done this season, because he's too good. Then you can argue the other side. Maybe he wants to end while he's really good and have some good stats. Maybe he doesn't want to have minuscule stats next season, But I don't know if he'll ever have minuscule stats because he's in the cold tub. Staying fresh.
J. Skeets
Let's go to some news. Ja Morant remains the hottest name in trade speculation. And yesterday, NBA insider Rachel Nichols said she heard that Ja would love to go to Miami and go play for the Heat. Of course, Ja Morant may want to go to Miami. The question is, does Miami want Ja Morant? Trey, we've talked about this a little bit already. The theoretical package that the Heat could put together for Ja Morant. Now, it could be centered around like a Tyler Hero or an Andrew Wiggins. Could be. That could be centered around maybe Terry Rozier's expiring contract. We're still a little unclear on that.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, we don't know.
J. Skeets
The league allowing that. We don't know. Okay, but. And then they have some other, you know, younger rookie scale contract guys that are maybe enticing to the Grizzlies. They do have draft capital, too. I don't know if it even will take any to get John Morant. We saw what Trey Young went for. But any thoughts on this? Nichols, I guess, report that maybe this is one of the places that John. John Morant wants to go.
Tas Melas
You can definitely see it happening because like you're saying, the Heat have a lot of different ways they could get this deal done. Depending on what the Grizzlies decide they want to do, post Ja Morant. Like if they want to try and rebuild around Jaren Jackson Jr. Probably the Tyler Hero centered trade is the smartest one to make. You know, you can do Hero for Josh straight up. I don't think that's what it would be. But you know, the contracts work out. Heroes 31 million this season, 33 million next season. You can see him stepping into the lead ball handler role for Memphis. Or if the Grizzly decide this is going to be a complete tear down, they could do Wiggins or Rosier, either of those contracts. Fontechio, maybe they get a pick in that scenario. That's kind of similar to the Trey Young return, you know, two expiring contracts. And if they get a pick, it would be better than the Trey Young return, which maybe that's the case since Jaws got a little bit longer on his contract. But the Heat do seem to be the team that is in the lead right now, I suppose, for the Ja Morant sweepstakes. And if he's trying to push his way there, then maybe that tips the scales and I don't know. I can. I can definitely see it happening.
Julian Edelman
I think the Heat are definitely the leader in the board or the team that looks like they may be willing to bring in John Morant and polish him off and say, we've got a world class organization, world class training staff. We've seen them take guys like Jimmy Butler obviously is the best example, but guys from other franchises where, you know, maybe they weren't doing so well, bring them in. We can make him look great. And so there is definitely. Look, it looks like the Heat would want. That being said, it's a long time that he's under contract, so maybe they're not. Maybe they're. Maybe they don't want two and a half years of John Moran knowing that the guy's not going to play 60 games, which is being optimistic. But that's what he does, you know, and throughout the beginning part of his career. So I don't know. They've got a great health staff. Maybe they do see a package of Rosier, Davion Mitchell and a first, possibly depending. Like maybe the Memphis Grizzlies say we need a point guard who's really great at stopping the ball. You could see him and Bam Adebayo work in Miami. Him and Jaren Jackson Jr. Could work in our organization, but maybe that's not enough to get it done. Yeah, other packages, I threw one Together of Rosier. Let's hope he's tradable. Fontechio and Jaime Hawkez. Just that. Just that.
J. Skeets
See? Yeah. So Zach Lowe's said recently and you know, he's pretty plugged in what.
Julian Edelman
What is the max that they're gonna get for John Rant? That's the question.
Tas Melas
That's what I'm saying. The Heater saying no, it's that one. They're not including three players.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Low said he saw fake trades.
Julian Edelman
He's not a player.
Tas Melas
Well, but they're not trading.
Julian Edelman
Hawk is the guy.
J. Skeets
Oh, yeah, yeah. So Zach Lowe was like, he's seeing fake trades like Wiggins, Hawkez, two first round picks. And Zach Lowe's like, what are you smoking? He's like, there's no way that's gonna be. To be the sort of return.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
For potentially John Moran. He thinks it's more likely it's hero and dead money and not much more than that. You're right, though. Maybe it's the Rosier and Fontechio and.
Julian Edelman
Then I think would be the guy, the only guy in that trade that they'd want. No disrespect to Fontechio, but essentially it would be, yeah, Moran for az.
J. Skeets
The Grizzlies asked for that and they counter with no Yakochonis or whatever. Like. Right. He'd say no, Take one of these guys instead. Probably not Pell Larson at this point. Maybe Jovic, but he's got. He's under contract. Yeah. So. But it's not where I don't think it's going to be.
Julian Edelman
Hawkeye Jr. Yeah, he's been great.
J. Skeets
It's not going to be good, whatever it is. No, I still think he is making his way to Miami. I've been on record saying that, but I guess I'm a little reluctant because I also thought for the longest time, well, Damian Lillard's going to Miami. That's a lock. And like Michael Scotto said. Yeah. He sort of do this. Right. They're the weird guy in your auction. They're like always in the auction, but. But never actually offering all that much. They're always low ball offering. So they're always in the discussion or start the auction. $1. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tas Melas
Okay, fine.
J. Skeets
So.
Julian Edelman
But maybe it's the.
J. Skeets
But I think it happens.
Julian Edelman
Maybe it's the time where teams are offering less. As we saw for Trey Young. Maybe it's a good time to be the Miami Heat, to be that low ball offer type of team.
Tas Melas
Definitely.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
And like, if the Grizzlies can get Tyler Herro back. I mean, it does depend on what's their direction, what's their plan here. Here. Are they really ripping everything down and that means Jaren Jackson Jr. Is gone, then maybe you don't want a hero. I get that. But yeah, if they still want to be competitive, I mean, you can do a lot worse than Tyler hero as a main piece coming back for a disgruntled John Morant.
Julian Edelman
Oh, yeah, right. So definitely.
J. Skeets
Maybe they want the expiring money instead.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. I would be so interesting to see John Morant with operating in that offense of Eric sponsor because they do need more pick and roll. As, as you mentioned, Trey, like Jaime Hawkes would be the guy that they wouldn't want to send back because he's been so good in that role. What offense is Eric spoiler running with Morant and Adebayo?
Tas Melas
That's the. That's the funny thing because they're running the Grizzlies offense from last year. Yeah, that Ja hated.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. With. With the coach nuts bolster. But with the coach that made it happen there. So that's weird. That'd be weird for John Morant to go there, I guess.
J. Skeets
Final note, Rachel Nichols on the podcast talked about the misconception of Heat culture, too. And she said, quote here, it's not that Heat culture is some boot camp for wayward souls. I love that line. It's not, oh, gee, don't worry. The Heat will clean them up. Heat culture is, we are tough, we are disciplined, and you either play by our rules or you leave and you go home. We are not here to babysit you and hope you get up to our level. And that is why players who have worked there have really worked. That was a good point from her, you know, because we have some fun with the Heat culture. It's like, oh, I don't know, John Moran in South beach, that could be a disaster. Look, it maybe could, could be.
Julian Edelman
Oh, yeah.
J. Skeets
But their whole point, like, we don't babysit you. It's like, come on, man, act professional. Let's go. And are you on board or not? And I think he needs a fresh start. I think most agree with that with John Moran. I think it's going to happen in Memphis. So it's somewhere else. And he needs to, like, turn his, like, career around here again. And I think he will. I do have faith in him.
Julian Edelman
Still keep the main thing. The main thing. That's what they always say in Miami. And the question is, will their health staff be able to just bring that guy's knee body back to anywhere close to what it was. I mean, he shows it from time to time here this season. But they do believe in their world class conditioning staff.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Julian Edelman
So maybe it's that.
J. Skeets
Yep.
Julian Edelman
Maybe it is that.
J. Skeets
Anthony Davis got a little update on him. He has opted against surgery on his injured left hand, refuting a sham's report from earlier in the day that the ailing big man would have a procedure and miss multiple months. But AD's hand was working good enough to fire a tweet or two to Sean.
Julian Edelman
That was so good.
J. Skeets
Get your facts right.
Julian Edelman
Lies.
J. Skeets
So, look, but the point is, AD's not returning anytime soon.
Tas Melas
I mean, it's still gonna take a long time.
J. Skeets
He's still gonna be approximately six weeks even without the surgery. So again, we've already talked a lot about this and whether he'll be moved still or not now and all that, but it's gonna be a while.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. Six weeks to be reevaluated. Especially when it comes to any reevaluation. But especially when it comes to Anthony Davis. You think six weeks plus a reevaluation? Whoa. We're talking the whole regular season. He still could be out. So it was interesting to see AD call out Shams. Boom.
Tas Melas
Lies.
Julian Edelman
Y' all better stop listening to these lies on these apps. These apps are full of lies, my man. It is unfortunate. We all see lies. We see lies every day. Very true. I couldn't help. I couldn't help but look at this other tweet and laugh. It says shams. Today, Anthony Davis needs hand surgery. Anthony Davis won't need hand surgery. Doctors have cut off Anthony Davis's hand. Doctors have not cut off Anthony Davis's hand. Doctors have cut off Anthony Davis's uninjured hand by mistake. Anthony Davis isn't a real person. Jeremy Cohen. That was a good one. They got me. Yeah, they got me a real person. So.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Julian Edelman
Do other teams want a guy that's being reevaluated in six weeks? I think they still do, but I.
J. Skeets
Still believe Anthony Dave is going to be traded here at the deadline.
Julian Edelman
His hand is going to be traded?
J. Skeets
Yeah. I'm guessing which team gets the hand and which team gets the rest of Anthony Davis?
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Which one would you rather want?
Julian Edelman
The package is not going to be good. Which one would you want?
J. Skeets
Okay, hypothetical. You take off both of Anthony Davis's hands. Very important to basketball. All right. Would you rather have the hands or the rest of Anthony Davis?
Julian Edelman
Huh? Give me.
Tas Melas
Give me body. No hands. He can still Be an effective rim protector.
J. Skeets
Interesting.
Tas Melas
Not blocking shots, but deterring them.
Julian Edelman
Okay.
J. Skeets
Yeah, I disagree. Give me the way. Tough. All right. Any thoughts on this besides where we're going with it?
Tas Melas
He could still be traded for sure, but it's tough to figure out the team that can give up enough salary to get Anthony Davis on his large contract and stay afloat while he heals. This six to eight weeks like that, to me, means the Hawks have to still be in the mix because Chris, that's Porzingis, he doesn't play just like Anthony Davis doesn't play. Like, what are they missing out on? The Clippers, I think are kind of in the same boat because they have so many guys they could do. Like John Collins. Love to see him back in trade rumors. Brook Lopez, Bogdan Bogdanovich. Like guys who are in their rotation but that they at least have replacements for while they wait for AD Then I would even throw in the Charlotte Hornets as a surprise team. They've got just so many random veterans. They've got the Mavericks 2027 pick, which would be huge for Dallas to get back. I don't know that AD Would want to be sent to Charlotte and sign an extension there. That's the big question.
J. Skeets
But the.
Tas Melas
There are at least enough pieces in Charlotte to get it done.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. That's why I think Atlanta is still doable, because the main part would be Kristaps Porzingis going back to get the numbers there. He hasn't played a lot this season. I know you'd say the same thing about Anthony Davis, but Anthony Davis, at least you believe he'll play for most of it. Add on to that a Luke Canard. Plus the pick is what we used to say when Anthony Davis was not injured this season. And what they give up with that pick is the key part here. It doesn't necessarily have to be a really good pick. It could be the Cavs pick this season. There could be some, you know, whether it's 1 to 20, protected or something like that. We're talking Kristaps Canard and some sort of protective pick. I could see that happening.
J. Skeets
What, you got the guy with pots or the guy that's injured, like 50 parts of his body over his career? I'm barely exaggerating with that, I don't think.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tas Melas
He's hurt a lot of parts of his body.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, yeah.
J. Skeets
So which one?
Julian Edelman
This is the operation game.
J. Skeets
Your starting center. You want the pot center or you want the Mr. Glass?
Tas Melas
I want Mr. Glass.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, give me the Glass. I agree. Give me the glass. I totally agree. Because Chris Epps just literally leaves the floor and it's a condition that he may not be able to play the same way for a long time. And it could just happen like that. I say that and AD Is the exact same in a different way. But yeah, give me the glass.
J. Skeets
Okay, let's take a break. And when we come back, the top 10 trade candidates we haven't talked a lot about.
Julian Edelman
When it comes to betting on your favorite NBA players, nobody does it like FanDuel. Like wagering on D' Anthony Melton scoring over 20 points in fewer than 20 minutes. I don't think that's a line that FanDuel has, but if you're a hardcore melting head like me, you knew it was coming. From points and rebounds to threes and assists, FanDuel is the best place to build your player prop story. Combine your favorite picks into a same game parlay or track every stat live all in one easy to use app. And right now is the perfect time to join because new customers get $150 in bonus bets if your first $5 bet wins. So bet on the players you love the way you want. FanDuel, official sports betting partner of the NBA.
J. Skeets
All right, if you're just joining us right now on YouTube or if you've been here from the jump, hit the like button. Subscribe podcast listeners, five star ratings and reviews. Okay, tk, you got a fun list for us? Like I've said, these. These trade candidates that we haven't talked a lot about. You got a list for us?
Tas Melas
Yeah. I was hogging in the troughs, going through all of these rumors to see the slop that our beautiful farmers have been providing for us. But names that we won't talk about. Trey Young. He's traded John Moran. We talked about him. Lamelo Lowry Market, mpj, Jonathan Kaminga and Trey Murphy. I'm cutting those guys. We've talked about them a lot for weeks. Yeah. I also only wanted one player per team.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melas
Though I fudged it once because you'll see why. But my number 10 top 10 trade candidate, we haven't talked a lot about. Jeremy Grant. You mentioned him. Tas as a potential Milwaukee buck. I think that he has been linked to the Bucks. As Michael Scotto told us, everybody and their mother has been linked to the Milwaukee Bucks. Jeremy Grant's almost 32 years old. He's got 32 million for the rest of this season, 34 next year, and then a player option for 37 during I guess that would be the 27, 28 season. Jeremy Grant hasn't played, though, since December 18th. I don't know if he's really hurt or they're just holding him out so that he's not actually hurt at the trade deadline. I think it's Achilles tendinosis.
J. Skeets
Yes, that's what I thought it was. Yeah.
Tas Melas
So I'm not the biggest Jeremy Grant fan, but teams can talk themselves into him, I do believe.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. Yeah. Especially if the Blazers aren't expecting a lot to come back in a trade. And we're seeing what like the. The Hawks got for Trey Young in that maybe the Milwaukee Bucks can give up a couple players without having to give up a first round pick. So literally, it would be the Blazers saying, okay, we're done. We made that monster, monster of a contract deal with Jeremy Grant. Now it's time to just cut the cord here. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Cap relief would be the thing for the Blazers.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, exactly. So when we're talking the Bucks, it's in comparison to guys like Zach Levine, which you'd probably have to give up more for. You know, I don't, I don't know what the Kings, where the Kings are, does it have to be a first round pick? And what other bucks am I forgetting?
Tas Melas
Oh, I got one for you.
Julian Edelman
Okay.
J. Skeets
Yeah, but Jeremy Graham, man, he makes 34 million next season, and then he makes 36 and a half million the season after that. That's a player option. Yep. To quote Ryan Rosillo, I think he's gonna pick it up. Yeah, that's a lot of money for a guy. Look, he can still hit threes. Obviously would be a vet on your team. He'd have to go to the right team and play a diminished role and all that. But like, yeah, he also just doesn't play. I mean, go back and look at his games played over the last four or five years. This is like half these, half the season.
Julian Edelman
So he plays.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
J. Skeets
I mean, he could be had, but I don't think it's gonna take a lot.
Julian Edelman
But yeah, he plays both ends. And for the Milwaukee Bucks, they need basketball players that play on both ends. And that's why the Zach Levine one is not a go in my head. That being said, you know, I'm just being optimistic when I say he can play both ends. He may not even be able to play one end right now. But you, you squint and you look back to his time with Nikola Jokic, and that's why he got that deal with the Pistons, and he can maybe, perhaps. But it would be a gamble. That is for sure. A big gamble.
J. Skeets
Jeremy Grant, when it's all said and done and kudos to him and his agents, is going to have made over $200 million in the NBA. That's.
Tas Melas
That's ridiculous.
J. Skeets
Pretty well. Like, he's a clutch guy.
Tas Melas
Is that right?
J. Skeets
Never an All Star, obviously. Never all NBA, never to that level. He's good on you.
Tas Melas
Close to an all Star.
J. Skeets
No, I know, I know. Like, he's. He's.
Tas Melas
I actually don't think he plays both ends anymore. Yeah, I think he gave up on one end once. He went to Detroit and tried to become the man.
J. Skeets
Yeah. And he's like one of these random guys that does score 20 points per game. Again, he misses half the season, so take it with a grain of salt. But. But yeah, he's the perfect sort of definition of like. Well, there's a lot of guys that can score 20 points for game, and he is one of them. He can hit the three. He can still hit a pretty good percentage from three. He lets it fly. But. 200 million plus.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Here's another clutch client at number nine, Dejante Murray. Remember Dejounte Murray?
J. Skeets
Barely.
Tas Melas
He hasn't played since January 31, 2025, coming off a torn Achilles. He's 29 years old. He's got a big old contract as well. 30.8 this year, 32.8 next season, 30.7 player option in 27 28. But I was surprised to see Jake Fisher linking the Bucks to Dejounte Murray, saying the Bucks would be interested if Murray makes his debut sometime in January. Fisher continues. I'm definitely expecting Dejounte Murray to be available for trade if and when he comes back. I had completely forgotten about this guy. And now he's in trade rumors for the Milwaukee Bucks. That's desperation mode.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Dejante Murray. It's not even on the court. No, there's a lot of these guys were like, hey, he doesn't play. At least they've gotten like 15 games in.
Julian Edelman
You would expect him to come back pretty soon considering his injury was in January of last year. It's at the end of January, so 12 months to unfortunately tear his Achilles. He could come back.
Tas Melas
That's a weird one. I couldn't believe that he was a name we're seeing in slop right now.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. I would put Jeremy Grant at a higher probability of the Bucks getting than Dejounte Murray because you really, number one, you don't know what you're getting. With the guy who hasn't played. But also that's a lot of money. That's a lot of money. That's a lot of money.
Tas Melas
Dejante money. Number eight, DeAndre Hunter. He just showed up in rumors starting yesterday. Matt Moore threw him in some slop. Chris Fedora, maybe Fedor Cleveland.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Beat reporter have him mentioned in rumors apparently Clutch sports. Another clutch sports. This is an all clutch trade deadline team. Basically. Matt Moore kind of hinted that his representation might want him out of Cleveland. Of course, Cleveland did trade for DeAndre Hunter. Last trade deadline they sent Karis Lavert and George Niang here to Atlanta. They tried Hunter as a starter to start the season and realized this guy is a sixth man. All he does is score and sometimes he doesn't score. So they got him coming off the bench and that's probably not what DeAndre Hunter imagined, but he seems the most likely non core piece to be traded for Cleveland. And I just don't know if another team's going to be suckered into this guy.
J. Skeets
You know my feelings on DeAndre Hunter, he sucks. So I will be giving a D grade or F grade to whatever team of the deadline talks himself into trading for DeAndre Hunter. But no, he this is like would be obviously selling at the worst possible time. He's having a garbage season. He can't hit a three. He's playing poorly and the Cats are struggling too.
Julian Edelman
So yeah, coming off a season where he got plenty of six man of the year votes, he was fourth in voting. He looked great going from Atlanta to Cleveland, new team coming off the bench. He was a machine that way. Then we go into the off season. Kenny Atkinson said our best player if I'm not mistaken was the quote was basically that guy has been on another level. He could be our best player this offseason. And so Kenny Atkinson inserts him into the starting lineup, which the Hawks did year after year after year. And it didn't work somehow because of injuries with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Max Struus being out a big part of it. Why DeAndre Hunter was probably put in the starting lineup but it was a big mistake and so I can understand why his representation is unhappy because DeAndre Hunter is probably unhappy. You know, his role is changing but still I don't know. He was excelling last year in that role. So I think he should be back in that role. They still aren't healthy. Max Truth is still not back. I think he is there by far and away their best option at the three give it to Streuss. If he can come back from injury. It's just a weird season all around for the Cleveland Cavaliers. But Hunter's been bad. Yeah, he's been very bad. He's shooting his worst three point percentage by far in his career at 30%, a flat 30%. But last year he was at 40%. So it's a different team. I don't know what Kenny saw in him in the off season. Not sure. But it's not the same guy.
Tas Melas
At number seven, Colin Sexton. He's on the Hornets and I swear I didn't do this on purpose, but he's also a Clutch Sports Guy. 27 years old, $18.9 million. How is rich, Rich Paul going to be able to keep doing podcasts when he's got all of his players up for trade?
Julian Edelman
Yeah, how's he going to do it?
Tas Melas
He just trades them on the podcast.
J. Skeets
Yeah, they're all going to be associating.
Tas Melas
With Max Kellerman, but Colin Sexton's had a really solid season, I think for the Hornets. He's on an $18.9 million expiring deal. He feels like he might be following in the John Collins path here where we're always going to talk about Colin Sexton as a trade rumor. I could see a team like the Timberwolves, Wolves or the Pistons being interested in him as another ball handler who's not going to cost you a whole bunch of money other than, you know, maybe a second round pick and matching salary or if you have a trade exception, he could fit in there. But, you know, I think that Sexton could be had. He's never played in the playoffs before.
J. Skeets
Wow.
Tas Melas
So that's a big risk to be willing to take. But a team could talk themselves into him because he competes on both ends. I don't think he's actually a good defender, but he tries on that end. He can score. Decision making is pretty crazy. He will go haywire a lot of times, but he's not going to be a huge piece for whoever gets him. But he could be a decent bench guy.
J. Skeets
I think he goes haywire because his nickname's Young Bull.
Tas Melas
That's right, man.
J. Skeets
So he plays red, but he's the best player on this list so far this season, which is pretty wild to say, but he's played better than obviously Grant, who's out. Murray hasn't played. And DeAndre Hunter. Again, not good. So Colin Sexton. Yeah, that's an interesting one. Could he help a team? Obviously a more affordable contract than these other guys, too. Yeah. And He's a name that hasn't come up a lot. So good inclusion.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I thought that was a be interesting. At number six, Daniel Gafford. Now we're getting into players who are good 27 years old. He's got a really attractive contract. He signed for the next four seasons topping out at 18.9 million four years from now. I wonder if this could be a guy that the Hawks pivot to if they decide they don't want to do Anthony Davis because the price for Gafford is going to be much, much cheaper. But the Hawks I think should be interested Pacers maybe. We were told earlier this year that they're looking for their center of the future. He would be a nice roll man alongside Tyrese Halliburton next year. The Lakers should be interested, the warriors should be interested. And I wonder if the Raptors might be a Gafford team as well.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, it is interesting with the Mavs because of Anthony Davis being out, because of Derek Lively being out. Whether or not they just want to hang on to a guy who's at a really good deal for several years and Daniel Gafford, you might just want to hang on to him because that's your only big who plays. Dwight Powell is old and that's all they have. Yeah, that's really all they have.
J. Skeets
I like all the teams you listed. I also wrote down the Raptors. I'd love to see them there. I don't think it's likely. I think these other teams, if they really wanted them, could make a a more enticing package. But oh, if he found his way to the wraps in some sort of three team deal or something like that, they got involved, be a great center for them.
Tas Melas
Naji Marshall and Klay Thompson also I would have to imagine potential trade targets for other teams as well. But at number five it's Anthony Simons. He's 26 years old, making 27.7 million on an expiring for the Celtics this year. He's had some good moments. He's just kind of fit in there. But the question for me more so is like what's the plan for Simons? Because when they traded for him in the off season it was kind of the Celtics could go one of two ways. They could keep them around, sign them to a longer term deal, maybe in the summer at a lower number but for more years or if they wanted to duck the aprons. He was kind of candidate number one to be shipped out. Him or Sam Houser could be cap casualties. So I Just wonder if the Celtics are going to be buyers or sellers and how Simons kind of factors into that.
Julian Edelman
Right. Doesn't seem like he's going to be there for a long time, but when it comes to the trade deadline, it's $27 million that he makes. So to match it up with something that they would want, it's not going to be easy. I. I don't think, because I don't. I don't know if another team says Simon's going to be our guy coming off the bench forever, or I. Or we believe that he could be a lead guard. I'm just not sure if there's a match out there. This could be a situation where the Celtics say, we're hanging on to him because we're gonna let him go at the end of the season. Essentially, it's all dependent on what comes back, but I don't see them hanging on to and free Simons and being a part of their future. I think the. The trade for Jrue Holiday to Portland to get this guy was just about moving on from the holiday contract, and now it's going to be moving on from Anthony Simon's contract, really, to, I.
J. Skeets
Guess, say the exact same thing Scotto said on yesterday's podcast. What the Celtics do here or don't do leading into the deadline is all sort of dependent on how they feel about Jason Tatum may or may or not returning. Right. I think he's right there. What do they know? How confident are they he comes back, how he's going to look, or if that even happens, that's going to determine sort of where. Which direction they take here in terms of trying to bolster the roster because they're like, whoa, east is wide open and we're adding Tatum. Jesus. Maybe Simon stays. Or is it the opposite? It's like, all right, clean up the books a little bit more. Avoid any sort of repeater tax down the line. Do that. And. And then obviously trade somebody like Simons who is, you know, can still obviously shoot the rock. Fill it up, guys. A great three point shooter still, and he's one of these guys that can easily hit like eight or nine threes in a game, catches fire. So, yeah, we'll see. I think it is dependent on what they know and how they feel about Tatum.
Tas Melas
You can definitely see them using Simons in some kind of a package to get a more established center than Keita and Garza. Those guys have been pretty solid, but maybe they would take their chances. Like, I mean, maybe even Dallas makes sense for some while trying to get their hands on Gafford. We shall see.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.

At number four IO Dasumu he plays for the Chicago Bulls. He's almost 26 years old. He's on a seven and a half million dollar expiring contract, one of the best contracts in the league right now. Played really great against the Rockets last night. He's like 50% from the field, 40% from three this season, averaging a career high I think, I think 14 points. I put them ahead of Kobe White, Kevin Herder, Jalen Smith as other trade targets for the Chicago Bulls. Just because I think the fact that IO at least gives some sort of an effort on the defensive end I think makes him an easier fit for a lot of teams and maybe a more enticing playoff player. So teams like the Rockets, the Timberwolves, the Knicks and the Lakers I think should be after this guy. And I mean his contract is so small that you're going to have a fungible player you can throw into the deal. And like, I mean in a Bulls fan's dreams, they're getting a first round pick for this guy. I don't know if we're going to be seeing those fly around, but if a team is like, yeah, we'll give you a top 20 protected first round pick, Chicago unfortunately should take it.
J. Skeets
Yeah, the Bulls, I feel like have quieted in a lot of trade rumors. I know Kobe White's name comes up still from time to time, but like obviously Vucevic used to be at the top of all these trade rumors lists. Haven't heard a lot on that.
Tas Melas
No, he'll be out. He'll be high on the buyout guys list.
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah, exactly. But yeah, IO. I mean good player. He's only 25. Like you said he was born in 2000. You like to see that when you go to Basketball reference. Not a 90s guy. I like him. And yeah, again you would want to see him go to a good team, a playoff caliber team that he would think he'd Be able to help on both ends of the ball and help you win in a series and obviously try and guard some other. Your. Some of the other best players on the other team.
Julian Edelman
Team.
J. Skeets
But that's a. I didn't know he made that little.
Tas Melas
Yeah, it was a second round pick. Yeah, but so they developed him up and got him on a great deal. Which is why I mean they would have gotten a first round pick if they traded him last year. Yeah, he's from Chicago. I have dose trace.
Julian Edelman
Bang, bang, bang.
Tas Melas
It'd be sad to see him go.
Julian Edelman
But those trace, you know, they should, they should.
Tas Melas
I'm sure the balls will get ripped.
J. Skeets
Off if they trade this guy. Probably.
Tas Melas
Exactly.
Julian Edelman
I see the. The Nuggets may be sacrificing a future first round pick with some protections for this guy just to have somebody off the bench because they need a. They. Ideally they just have another ball handler off the bench and he's freaking good. But the Bull should just keep him and sign him to a good deal.
Tas Melas
They can only offer him so much is the problem. Like he'll probably make. I think they can offer him like $14 million or something like that. Like mid level exception. He could possibly get more.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, right, right.
J. Skeets
He feels like a 20 million type guy. Ballpark, maybe so more than 14.
Tas Melas
Yes.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Okay.
Tas Melas
At number three, Herb Jones. He's 27 years old, plays for the New Orleans Pelicans. This is my only team that had duplicates because I think Herb Jones is different from dejounte Murray. But 14 mil for herb this season. He's got a long contract. 15 million next season, 20.8, 22.5, 24.2 player option. I think that must be for the 2930 season. That is a long time from now.
J. Skeets
Yeah, it is.
Tas Melas
Pelicans don't have to trade this guy. But I also do think if some team comes call and with a great offer involving some draft capital, they gotta take it. Like he's less essential to me for a rebuilding team than Trey Murphy is. Given them the shooting and the offensive creation. So teams like the Lakers and the Sixers, I would have to think, think. Gotta be calling about Herb.
J. Skeets
He's definitely been linked to the Lakers for a long time here. I don't know if it happens, but you could see why he would help. They could use some defense and that's the one thing Herb Jones is at least going to give you, perimeter defense.
Julian Edelman
It would make sense. And the question is for me whether the Pelicans, you know, start to veer a Little bit more into a air quotes rebuild. You know what are they getting rid of? He would be the. A primary guy because the rest of their team in Zion, Jordan Poole, Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy who would get a lot, get a lot in it in a package. It could be that guy or Herb Jones. I mean those. There's gotta be a point where they start to look at that off ramp and friggin get on that thing. I mean they got to at some point everybody that I just mentioned essentially could be traded. This trade deadline. It's just what the package is coming back. So I don't know if they're willing to give up Trey Murphy but I think he would be the guy who gets back the most probably. So while Herb there's. There's so such a duplicate type.
J. Skeets
Herb plays for the Pelicans. So he's always injured too is. I mean he played 20 games last year, played half the season this year. It's unfortunate but true.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
With him.
Julian Edelman
So I could see him going for sure.
Tas Melas
How about this from the Shively show and the stream team. Herb Jones is emergency podcast worthy.
J. Skeets
Oh he's. He's right on the line.
Tas Melas
He's got an accolade. I think it was an all defense player.
J. Skeets
Yeah. A couple years ago. It almost depends like which team he's going to and what's coming back to me in the emergency podcast factor. Right. He goes to the Lakers. Okay. It is the Lakers.
Commercial Voice
Yeah.
J. Skeets
The sirens go off. I don't know. He gets traded to the Kings. Are we doing an emergency podcast?
Julian Edelman
No.
Tas Melas
No. Or not? No.
J. Skeets
He has to go to a team obviously big market or like championship status type team.
Julian Edelman
Like that's my opinion. Reminiscent of Dorian Finney Smith being traded last year. I know it's not the exact same type of player but it's the same type of, you know, skill set. When he went to the Lakers. I don't know if that was.
J. Skeets
We didn't do a separate emergency podcast for that.
Julian Edelman
That was. I mean that was just during the.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Julian Edelman
During the season. Whatever time.
Tas Melas
It was all about timing.
Julian Edelman
Yeah. It is about timing.
Tas Melas
Timing and team.
Julian Edelman
But I can see Herb being called by JJ Rack to play 48 minutes every freaking, you know, play hard, man. I don't know. I don't know what happens there in. In la because Rui Etchemur is going to come back and he is going to be playing more.
Tas Melas
He played last night.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, he played last night. Didn't play the first night of back to back. Like will he be Back to normal brewery. Maybe. Maybe you try Herb Jones? Maybe. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Welcome to the All Star portion of the list. At number two, Demonta Sabonis. Remember him? Almost 30 years old. He hasn't played since November 16th. He's rehabbing a knee injury. He's like maybe returning in February. He's got 42.3 million this season, 45 next season, 48.6 after this or after that. The Raptors, the Hawks and the Bulls are the teams that mostly to Mattis Sabonis. It feels like we're getting a boner in our lives here, guys. I guess he could work his way to the warriors, but it's pretty complicated. Three teamer. That would need to happen, but I don't know. Sabonis definitely feels like a guy that a team would be like. This is a major acquisition at the trade deadline. He is a multiple time All Star. He puts up great numbers. He is a great rebounder. At the very least, he's a floor raiser for your team. I don't personally want the Bulls to trade for him, so I'm happy to see he's less slopped to them. But it does feel like the Raptors are maybe in the lead for the Sabonis sweepstakes.
J. Skeets
Really? You know, don't love it. Don't love it. It depends what it would be for. But he's just like we've. It's like he raises your floor but caps your ceiling. Obviously not the most elite defensive sort of big guy. And he gets paid. Yeah. Ballpark, he'll be up making close to 50 by the end of it. So a decent percentage of your cap ain't gonna rebound. He's gonna obviously flirt with triple doubles. He is a good player. You can run an offense sort of through him. But I do think there's limitations. And he's just getting older and now he had this injury. Yeah. I don't want him on the no dunks trifecta of teams. The Hawks, the Bulls and the Raps. But he probably will be.
Tas Melas
He's a playing kind of guy.
J. Skeets
Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
Julian Edelman
Can't disagree with anything you said, Skeets. I could see them. They're Toronto rappers specifically. Yeah, I could see them doing it. You know, just because he will align with everybody else who moves the ball inside the three point line doesn't shoot the threes at all will be undersized. They need somebody to protect the rim rim. That ain't this guy. So they could just say him. Colin Murray Boyles. Will be starting beside him playing center. That bull of a man who's undersized again. They just will never have a guy who defends the rim, it seems like so I could see them doing it, but. But at the same time, they shouldn't. Bobby Wester shouldn't. Auntie Sally and the Atlanta Hawks shouldn't. And I don't think they will. I think they are. They're playing their cards a little close to the vest. A little more short term than Sabonis in two years of guaranteed. A guy who hurt his knee here. Yeah, this is nuts. May not be a minor injury. So leave it. Leave it for the Kings books. You deal with it. And that's what they should be.
Tas Melas
Yeah, the Kings are acting really funny right now because everybody throws them into a trade. If there's like somebody that doesn't look like they're going to have a big market around the NBA. It's all it. You kind of default to. Well, they could trade them to the Kings. They'll do it. The Kings right now just have to be like, we are not interested in any of these guys.
Julian Edelman
Okay?
Tas Melas
We don't want Trey Young.
J. Skeets
We don't.
Tas Melas
We don't want John Morant. We don't want Yaka Pertle. We don't want Emmanuel Quickley. We're not dumb right now.
Julian Edelman
No Jonathan Kuminga.
J. Skeets
That's the one guy they.
Tas Melas
We're smart now.
J. Skeets
I think they do want.
Tas Melas
We got carry. Honestly, I like the way they're carrying themselves.
J. Skeets
Don't call us idiots.
Tas Melas
We're not idiots right now. Number one, it's Jaren Jackson Jr. No surprise. 26 years old. This guy would. If he actually becomes available, would be the best name for sure. And we will know quickly. I think with the drama rant trade, especially if it happens with Miami. Like we were saying, if they choose Tyler hero. Jaren Jackson Jr. You're sticking around.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
If they choose the expiring package. Expiring contracts package. Jaren Jackson Jr. You're available. Teams would be chasing after him like crazy because his contract is large. But it ain't too bad, especially for a young guy at 26 years old. 35 million this year. Which makes him. Makes it easier to get to his number because after that it's 49. 50 and a half. 52, 53 and a half. So I think should JJJ become available, Lakers would be after him. We know Rich Paul likes the trade. With Austin Reeves involved. Celtics I think would have to be after him. Be a crazy fit in Boston I do believe. And the Pacers again would kind of be like a wait for next year sort of deal. But would be good to get their center of the future in as well.
Julian Edelman
Yeah, those are big numbers that you threw out there. Four years guaranteed of large dollars after this one, you know, circling around 50 mil.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Julian Edelman
That being said, he plays and he's still young. So if he's available, everybody would want him. I don't see the Grizzlies doing it. I see them attempting to keep him around should keep him happy. And that's what this John Morant trade is partially for. We like you, we gotta move on. We're centering around this team that moves the ball. Thomas, he's a low. That's what we do here. This is a fun place to play. Right. I think that's what the whole thing with Jaren Jackson Jr. Is.
J. Skeets
All right, good list there.
Tas Melas
It's a nice list.
J. Skeets
It's a nice list of guys we haven't talked a ton about. Yeah. Wink it up.
Tas Melas
Wink it up.
J. Skeets
Fuzzball. Jeremy Grant, Dejounte Murray, DeAndre Hunter, Colin Sexton, Daniel Gafford, Anthony Simons, IO Dosumo, Herb Jones, Demontes Sabonis and Jaren Jackson Jr. How many of those guys will be traded by the deadline? Putting you on the spot? 10 guys named 10. I'm gonna set the line at two and a half. You're taking the over or under. I just put it up on FanDuel.
Julian Edelman
Oh, it's. That's a good line.
J. Skeets
Thank you.
Julian Edelman
Did you think that through? That's really good. That's where I am. I'll go under. Yeah, it's gonna be a two. It's gonna be close though.
J. Skeets
I think you're right. I will say two of those guys are traded.
Tas Melas
Okay, I'll go over. Okay, I'll go over for sure.
J. Skeets
Good list. T.K. yeah. Of the night. Sponsored by Simon Kirsch. And he's not selling anything to us. Just. I want to sponsor this. Thank you, Simon. Thank you. I'll tell you what. You got a tough one for me to pick. Which guy was getting. Woah, boy. I just want to run through a few of the nominees. Jamal Murray had 35 and nine and Peyton Watson had 30 plus points. Both good games. Bam. Fantastic all around game from Miami.
Julian Edelman
We.
J. Skeets
We talked about it. LeBron flirted with a triple double. He's 85 years old. SGA had 35, 5 and 5 with four blocks in finally a win against the Spurs. But you know what's cooler than all of that mad efficiency Tre Jones gets. Woah Boy of the night. He plays for the Chicago Bulls. In case you didn't know, he scored a career high 34 points in a loss to the Rockets. But he shot 11 of of 12 from the floor. I had to put it on the whoa boy. Graphic. His field goals made and attempted. He went five of six from deep, seven of eight at the charity stripe. Team high seven assists, two boards, one steal. Did all of this in 27 minutes. Trey Jones, a surprising little boy of the night for Simon Kirsch.
Tas Melas
He was doing a lot of his damage against Amend Thompson as well. Yeah, like Trey Jones was looking quick against Amend Thompson. He put played awesome. So you know, not a win for the Bulls, but they got a wedgie and they got a whoa boy. Yeah, two W's in a different way.
J. Skeets
That's exactly right. All right, Tass, pick em for tonight. You and I got the victory last night, taking OKC to cover the what seemed to be a bit of a big line. But they pulled it out in the end. So Trey took a rare l. We're both 6 and 2, me and Trey, you're 3 and 5 as Tas tries to get back in this. Where are we going?
Julian Edelman
We're going to a battle of the second tier in the Eastern Conference. Who is the better team between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. We were debating it yesterday which team was going to be able to specifically the Sixers, whether or not they're going to be able to grow and win that Eastern Conference. Well, this is a team that they're playing that won it last year. What a weird, weird thing. In the regular season they were great. They've been up and down. But I'm taking them tonight in Philadelphia. I think Cleveland can do it. Why I'm taking them, I don't know. It's such an up and down team.
J. Skeets
Yeah, they are Jekyll and Hyde, man. You don't know what you're getting.
Julian Edelman
But I think they will bounce back after that embarrassing loss against the Utah Jazz. Embarrassing for them. They shouldn't have lost like that. It's basically a pick on Philadelphia's favorite by one and a half. So you guys have them to win by two or more.
J. Skeets
Yeah, I'm confident. Yeah, I think it's. I actually when you put this line in or this game, I was like, ah, the Cavs, man. Yeah, I hate that's like a tough line too. It's like, I don't know, like the cast could easily win by 15 tonight.
Tas Melas
Yes, they could.
J. Skeets
They could blow them out.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
They could get spanked. And the Sixers have played better. That was my reasoning. Just looked better recently. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Embiid has been pretty solid for the past three weeks. Really? And he could take it to the Cavs inside and. I don't know. I just. Just like Philly's vibes.
Julian Edelman
They're good. They're good. I didn't know what to do. I went into my drawer, my desk, grabbed a coin, a Canadian quarter, and I flipped that.
Tas Melas
Wow.
Julian Edelman
I didn't know what to do.
Tas Melas
Which was. Which. Like. Which was heads, which was tails.
J. Skeets
Heads.
Julian Edelman
Moose was Cleveland Cavaliers.
Tas Melas
Nice.
Julian Edelman
The queen head was the Sixers. Yeah. Yeah. Just so you know.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Julian Edelman
So I flicked it the first time, dropped it. I'm not gonna. I'm not trying to catch and flip yet. And I'm not calling it. What? It's on the floor.
Tas Melas
Doesn't count.
J. Skeets
What's your.
Julian Edelman
I got such a good flip, but my catching skills, lacking my hand. Ior.
J. Skeets
So your preferred way to flip a coin would be on the thumb, Boom, up in the air, catch it, same hand, and then slap to the back.
Julian Edelman
Like I'm an NFL referee.
J. Skeets
Which side you want? Okay.
Julian Edelman
Actually, they let.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Because you can't be messing with it.
Commercial Voice
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Slight of hand. Magic Man.
Tas Melas
Yeah, Hockey.
J. Skeets
He's got all the tricks he hides in his bicep. Okay, so you got the caps. The coin says you have the caps.
Julian Edelman
That's correct. Yep.
J. Skeets
We got the Sixers. Okay. We'll be back tomorrow. Tonight we learn of the. I think we do. Right? Of the All Star starters. Like the official 10 names. We're not just learning the fan returns because that's been done.
Julian Edelman
I don't know.
J. Skeets
I don't know. I literally don't know.
Julian Edelman
I'm not checking Twitter because Anthony Davis said there's all lies on those apps.
J. Skeets
Okay. We learned something tonight about the All Star starters. It's either just the fan returns. The final fan returns, which is weird because then we still need to hear from the media and the players, or we get the actual 10 starters tonight, which is what I thought we were getting. I don't know. Okay.
Tas Melas
NBA announced that voting for the All Star game concludes January 14th at 11:59pm Eastern.
J. Skeets
Oh, okay. So we're not learning anything. Never mind.
Tas Melas
I don't know, man. I don't know. I can't. Honestly can't.
J. Skeets
They're messing with our All Star format. All I know is three hall of.
Tas Melas
Famers are among the 2026 Castrol Rising.
J. Skeets
Stars coaches Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady. And you know, we got Austin Rivers in the mix too. That's right. He gets the G League team. I guess Riverbane doesn't, I assume.
Commercial Voice
Sure.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
J. Skeets
All right. Well, we were gonna plan on maybe doing some all star fun tomorrow. We might just pick our teams. I mean, why not? Yeah, I think we have a pretty good idea who the starters are gonna be anyway. And then we can pick the rest of the starters. So we'll probably do that on tomorrow's show live at 10am Eastern. Hope to see you here on YouTube. Embrace the day, Pete. Nope, don't embrace the day. Clipper, bro.
Julian Edelman
You heard it here first.
Tas Melas
Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys.
Commercial Voice
Awesome.
Julian Edelman
Thanks for joining us. Yes. And remember, it's a caribou on the Canadian quarter, not a moose. Specifically, it's says a caribou bracket reindeer. I was called out by some medi KB on the stream team. Also, you Canadians think I have two Canadians here. You couldn't call me out that it wasn't a movie. I thought.
J. Skeets
Don't think I knew it was a character. I was about to chime in, to.
Julian Edelman
Be honest, but I thought, I don't want to be that guy. Let somebody in the stream team be that guy. Thank you. So thanks for being that guy. Yep. Appreciate it.
J. Skeets

Podcast: iHeartPodcasts
This episode of No Dunks dives into some of the NBA’s biggest recent storylines:
The banter is sharp, the analysis is in-depth, and the vibes are classic No Dunks—fun, basketball-obsessed, and peppered with inside jokes.
[04:36–14:42]
Notable quote:
“They threw everybody at him...you gotta have a fire hydrant to go against a fire hose.”
– Tas Melas on defenders matching up with Wembanyama [15:11]
[12:44–14:36]
[19:01–24:14]
[27:58–32:03]
[33:00–38:03]
[38:25–45:45]
“It’s not that Heat culture is some boot camp for wayward souls…We are tough, we are disciplined, and you either play by our rules or you leave and you go home. We are not here to babysit you and hope you get up to our level.”
[44:26]
[51:33–80:14]
Trey Kirby’s List—discussion on fit, contract, likelihood of movement. Notable for deep-dive trade talk junkies.
The list:
Hosts wager on how many get traded:
On defending Wemby:
“You’ve got to have a fire hydrant to go against a fire hose.”
—Tas Melas [15:11]
On Giannis booing the fans:
“Whenever I get booed, I boo back, and I don’t care if it’s the home team.”
—J. Skeets paraphrasing Giannis [19:59]
On Heat culture (Rachel Nichols):
“It’s not that Heat culture is some boot camp for wayward souls… We are not here to babysit you and hope you get up to our level.”
—[44:26]
On LeBron’s enduring value:
“LeBron is, of course, the last player standing from the ‘03 draft. No one left in the league from the 04 draft. … LeBron’s the only one producing at a level like this.” —J. Skeets [37:46]
On the OKC–Spurs dynamic:
“If you have to ask if it’s a rivalry, it’s not.” —(J Will, via Tas) [12:45]
The show is full of classic No Dunks energy—blend of sharp basketball insight, lighthearted humor, and rapid-fire banter. The hosts bring multiple viewpoints, challenge each other, and keep things moving with memorable metaphors (like fire hydrant vs. fire hose).
The episode is a must-hear for any NBA fan heading into the trade deadline or looking to keep up with the season’s evolving narratives.
