Hello.
D
There he is. Here we are. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Hello podcast listeners. Everybody play your part. Hit the like button. Subscribe five star Ratings and reviews. On today's show, we will once again build the pyramid raking the Eastern Conference teams today. We did the west yesterday. We're doing the east today. But first, let's talk a little bit about last night's games and last night's news. We're going to divide them by conference wins. Let's start in the west, then we'll get to the east batch. But three games in the west, three wins for Western Conference teams. Kawhi scoring 45 in a Clippers romp over the Wolves. Yokich another triple double. Huge second half as the Nuggets blew out the Rockets in the third quarter. In the second half it was close until that second half. And then Murphy and Murray led the pelicans to the 122111 win over the Raptors in Brandon Ingram's return to Nollins. Of those three wins, what was the most impressive Western Conference victory last night?
A
I would say the Nuggets is the most impressive. Let's start though with the Timberwolves because they are the greatest mystery in the NBA. Losing to Kawhi Leonard, as you said, pot in that first quarter yet 18. Not quite the Bam at a bio pace, but that was awesome to watch. The Timberwolves are the biggest mystery because watching this I had to think is this the Clippers amazing defense getting out and running or is this a lot of the Timberwolves just being sloppy? Because that's who they are. They have been down in the last seven games by 10 or more points. In the last three games they've been down by 20 or more points. But watching the Clippers defense that they they've perfected at this point now with Chris Dunn who is one of the best defensive guards in the NBA and Derrick Jones Jr. Who looks like he's health at his healthiest this season along with handsy Brook Lopez to go along with Kawhi Leonard and Darius Garland in the backcourt. I mean they started turning the ball over and that's why Kawhi got hot. It started with two fast break buckets that he just had to lay in. Yeah dunks because Don had a nice turnover that he created and then Dante Divincenzo like just gave it up. So then Kawhi started I'm going right at Rudy Gobert and look and Austin. I haven't also hitting threes at the same time so that's how he got up to 18. But they the wolves turned it over 24 times in this game. So it's a little of which side is it? Is it this athletic team now with Jordan Miller that they're getting just regular minutes from off the bench? Isaiah Jackson and Benedict Matheran? Or is it just the Timberwolves just being real, real sloppy? It's hard to say in that, in that game. I think they are the biggest mystery here going into the playoffs on both sides, whether it's the east or the West.
B
That's why I had Minnesota fourth on the pyramid yesterday. Just not very trustworthy. Every time it feels like they get things rolling, they have a tough patch where they're losing games and looking bad doing so. The Minnesota Timberwolves turned the ball over five times in their first six possessions yesterday. Sixteen steals for the Clippers. And like I talked about earlier this week, that has been kind of the Clippers MO since the trade deadline kind of coinciding with Derek Jones Jr. Returning to the lineup, their fifth and opposing turnover rate since the trade deadline. Before that they were 22nd. So I think it's a combination of the Timberwolves like to give up the ball and the Clippers are good taking the ball away and it just makes their offense even better. But Kawhi Leonard is on a another level right now. He's playing so well I had to check his awards availability, availability. He's got a chance. He's only missed 14 games this season, so he's got to play in 14 of the last 17 for the Clippers. So of course you got to check the back to backs. They only have three of those left. He could sit out all three. But guess what? Kawhi has played in both legs of the last five back to backs for the Clippers. He should get MVP votes like fifth. He should be on the first team. He's been one of the five best players in the league since coming back from his injury at the beginning of the season. 28, 6 and 4 this season on 50% shooting from the field, 38 from 390 at the free throw line plus two steals a game. He's eighth in scoring this year, third in steals. Hit a 63 last night. Clippers play by play yelled out an out of hard drive experience. I thought Brian, Brian Seaman.
A
That's his name. That's his name.
B
Simple Seaman. He was on fire last night. This guy called a great game. Jordan Miller had a big dunk. He yelled out hello nasty. One of my favorite records from high school for sure. But Kawhi has been really, really good. I mean him missing the first chunk of the season is part of the reason the Clippers were in such a big hole, but now they've completely dug themselves out of the hole. They're the first team to start under 15 games, 15 games under.500 and get back over.500, which they did last night after beating the Timberwolves. So now the question is like, can they get to seventh? Maybe they're playing better than Phoenix is for sure. I think 6th is asking a little bit. But you know, Clippers do have a really easy schedule coming up here.
D
And then you wonder like if they're the seventh or the eighth seed, like get into the actual playoffs if they win one of those games, like are they going to scare any of those teams at the top of the Western Conference in the Thunder or the spurs who are likely to be 1, 2 and would potentially play the Clippers? I mean, look, they're not your normal sort of come through the play and type of team that are like, okay, they're like a.500 team. We're not too concerned. They maybe take a game. But this is different with Kawhi because that's the thing. Kawhi at this level, like you said, well, whether he's at the end of the MVP ballot where you have him on the all NBA teams, he's making one of those. If he qualifies, like we've seen it for many teams before, where the guy's just invincible and is enough. And then you pair it with the defense. Done. Brooks starting Derrick Jones Jr. You're right. I'm glad you brought him up. He's been awesome. I think he gets like, he gets overlooked when we always talk about like the most athletic guys in the league. He's there, man. Like, I mean we, you know, he's a dunk contest winner, all that. He just makes plays that you just don't see from other guys out there in the most like, you know, physically impressive league in the world. He does things where like I don't think many people could do that. Like they had that crazy save last night, an awesome tip out rebound that got another chance for the Clippers. Hit a three. He's impressed. So I don't think they'd beat the Thunder of the Clipper or the Thunder of the spurs, but I don't think they would get waxed with the way they're playing right now. And I hate the Clippers. They're winning me over, man. They're dropping 153 here. Having fun, the broadcast and, and Kawhi's scary when he's in Terminator mode or Aimbot Mode.
A
Yeah. And we're all not reluctant to say that Kawhi is going to play in the postseason. Maybe that's us being stupid, but maybe Kawhi is just being healthy. Maybe the Clippers medical staff deserves some awards. I mean, Kawhi looks healthy, extremely healthy. I think Derek Jones Jr. Coming back from two right MCL injuries, right knee MCL injuries, that's difficult to do. And he looks great. I mean, it's. It's all on him. But to pair with Kawhi Leonard, who's. He's a killer against the Wolves. I mean, he'd love to see the Wolves and the last two games against them, 45 and 41, so pretty damn good. But that team and a Ty Lou team always gets it going in the second half of a season. That's what he does. So, yeah, they are extremely scary.
D
And these new pieces, man, what like, great starts here for Garland. Good game last night. You know, hit five threes, 21 points at the point guard position. And. And Benedict Matheran, it's like the guy just lives at the free throw line. It's like Kawhi gets there when he wants, and then you get this guy off the bench and he had another, you know, 10 free throws made, got there 12 times. Matheran did, scored 22. Gotten a little involved in a little tussle at the end of the game. He really wanted the game ball.
B
Give me my ball.
D
For who? Was it Sean Pendula?
A
Yeah.
D
The Clippers scored his first bucket ever, so want to get that for him? And then that's when we had the jostling and the pushing, and that's when Kwai's like, hey, a fight. Literally what he said. He was talking to Joe Ingalls. Turn around. Hey, a fight. You know, a fight. Not much happening, but pretty funny. Anyway, those guys have contributed tk.
B
Oh, yeah. And it's completely changed the way the Clippers play, which we talked about earlier this week. They are fast now. They're quiet as, like. I mean, Lopez as well. He's a slow guy, but like everybody else basically can get out in transition. And then when things slow down, you've got one of the three or four best ISO scorers in the league in Kawhi. When he's. When his jumper is on, which is often right now, there's no way to stop him because he's so big, he's so strong, and his handle is so tight.
A
Benedict bathroom was involved in that other ball that they wanted to grab. After the Pacers play the Bucks that year. Yeah. Yeah. He always gets into it.
D
He takes it very seriously. We thought that was all Giannis, you know. Yeah, it's maybe it's math written that has like an, you know, an affinity for game balls, I guess.
A
So he's had some strange moments when you package them all together. Like he had that weird moment where post game, it wasn't. It was a different game against Giannis where Giannis kind of cupped the back of his neck and brought him in real close. And Benedict Matheran was an avid. Didn't like to be grabbed by the neck. And he had that weird tech where he went to talk to Giannis and got hit with a tech at the free throw line. Just. Just another really weird. He just had some weird moments in his very young career.
B
The chip on the shoulder guy, for sure.
D
Oh, yeah.
B
And he's playing for a contract. That's good.
D
Yeah, but he's all about peace.
A
He's playing for ball, but he's all about peace.
D
He said he's all about peace. That's what he said.
B
With violence, we all need peace.
D
Okay, so we picked that one as the most impressive. Let's talk a little bit, though, about that second half domination from. From the Nuggets as they killed the Rockets.
A
Yeah, the Nuggets need a third and fourth piece. We always talk about Aaron Gordon, but. But he went scoreless in this game, and he wasn't needed offensively because their fourth piece, whether you call him Christian Brown or Cam Johnson. Cam Johnson to me, is just. Just important as part of the rotation. I thought this was his best game of the season. He was just assertive when he got the ball. He was putting it on the floor a little bit. And those minutes when Jokic was sitting on the bench, they didn't get destroyed. They were only a minus 4 with Jokic on the bench. And then when he came out, Cam Johnson and him played the little handoff game. Jokic's big body give you the ball. Cam Johnson wanted to give it right back to the guy a lot of the time. But he was also splashing threes. He had 17 points in this game, so he was putting it on the floor.
D
I thought he was a game at least since, like mid December. It'd been a very long time since Cam at least looked aggressive coming around those Jokic picks and hitting some threes.
A
This is an important time for him to be extremely good. So I think it's his best game of the season. Just because it's March and they're trying to get Warm for the postseason now. He's always going to play good defensively. Had two really good recovery blocks on Jabari Smith in this game. But there's going to be times when he's not playing well. If you. If the last four months are any indication of the playoffs here and they need and will have Peyton Watson, I assume, to take his minutes, but it's nice to be able to depend on him and then go to the bench and get minutes from guys like in the similar role, like Spencer Jones. Zero points, doesn't matter. Playing hard. Bruce bound plus 17 in this game. Playing hard in the handlebars. Had had a steal. I don't know why the box score doesn't indicate a steal. Really weird. I don't like that either way. Tim Hardaway having his best season like this was an indicator of the Nuggets being a championship contender with all these guys playing well.
D
Exactly.
B
This was two different levels of teams. One team is tier two, one team is tier three, and it completely looked like that. Most encouraging thing for the Nuggets is they only gave up 93 points last night. That's their third fewest allowed this season. They got 12 steals. Maybe it should be 13 for Bruce Brown. Six combined threes from Brown and from Johnson and the bench played well. This was like a perfect game for the Nuggets. Jokic went for a triple double and it's just kind of like thrown aside as, like, oh, yeah, by the way, he had a triple double because it was pretty easy, I thought for Denver.
A
Yeah, this was not fun from the Rocket side. I mean, they just played bad.
D
Oh, my God. They shot 4 of 33 from deep. Okay, there's that. That's bad. They also shot 5 of 14 at the free throw line.
A
Yeah, Shingoon, brutal.
D
Yes. They've not. They're not a good free throw shooting team. I think they're one of the worst in the league. But five of 14, they're not that bad. And Durant, quiet night for him. Like, not only scoring like 11 points, but shooting. I think he only shot eight times. That's got to be a season low for him. But yeah, I'm with you guys. Best defensive performance we've seen from the Nuggets. Yeah, Rockets are just missing a lot of shots. I get that. But they were like, they were blitzing and they're trapping like, a little bit harder, especially in that second half. And it was creating turnovers. That's something the Nuggets just don't generate a lot of to get some easy Points going the other way. They have a great offense, but they don't generate a lot of turnovers. I think they're dead last in the league at creating them. So they got some last night. So, you know, good sign for them.
A
Yeah, they want the fast break points. 24:12 Kicking butt there, but a bet. Just a bad game from the Rockets. Ime Udoka trying to send a message in the fourth quarter to his team. Basically yanking all the starters he played. Isaiah Crawford, 12 minutes in the fourth quarter. That seems like a fake NBA name if I've ever heard of one. Isaiah Crawford.
B
There were some good guys playing last night. Crawford, Sean Padula, nor Chad was out there. Rocco Zakarski got minutes.
A
Oh, that's a great name. Yeah, it's.
B
It's time.
A
Solid name. That's almost a starting five of fake names.
B
Yeah, there's probably. I'm sure there's another deep cut on in the Utah Jazz game. A random fella.
D
Do you have any thoughts on the Pelicans beating the Raptors?
A
No, I mean, we're going to get into the Toronto Raptors later on.
D
Sure.
A
That's when you.
D
I'll shit all over them.
B
The Pelicans are 9 and 7 since the start of February.
D
Yeah, their guys are somewhat healthy and they're obviously not trying to tank because they don't have their pick.
B
It's kind of like the healthiest they've been. They're motivated to at least play. Spoiler a little bit. Like, I know Dejounte Murray was talking about making a play in push. 9 and 7 isn't going to cut it to actually make any sort of advancement in the. In the standings. But they're playing veterans basically. Like it's. Derek Queen doesn't play a ton anymore. Jeremiah Ferris comes off the bench. They're playing their older crew in Zion Murray, Trey Murphy, and guess what? Those guys are actually still good. Unfortunately, they missed the first 2/3 of the season, so it doesn't matter at this point. But I think Murray has looked pretty solid since coming back. Like his shooting percentages aren't that good, but he gives him some tude for sure. That was sick.
D
You want to get into that now or. Let's see.
B
I'm glorifying the Pelicans. I know the Raptors stink, but the Pelicans look good last night and that was one of the fiercest trash talk moments of the season. Yeah.
D
For those that didn't see it, Dejounte's been feeling himself all game. And the Pelicans are Playing well, like you said, and against a team that they are not scared of by any means, in the Raptors. And I guess Dejounte Murray sort of got into his dribble package. I think he thought he was, like, grabbed or held by Shed, who sort of stumbled. Yeah. But then Dejounte hits a shot and seeks out Shed, who has fallen on the ground and steps over him and screams down and sort of flexes over him. And the Raptors. There's his teammates. Shed teammates. They did basically nothing. Quickly. Quickly sort of came in like he wanted to have a talk with Dejounte Murray. Nobody else did fucking anything. This team has no fight. It's pretty embarrassing. I think their leadership, like, not a bump, not a shot. I'm not saying, like, you got to punch the guy. Like, somebody's got to, like, step, get
B
him out of the way.
D
Come on. You're getting clowned here. And their season. I mean, look, I wrote off the Raptors a long time ago. I do not even. I can't believe I'm saying this. I don't even want them in a postseason because I don't want to see them get swept because I just have so little faith in them. They're in the play, and now they've fallen all the way down to seventh. It's brutal, man.
A
Ever since Jamal Shed didn't make team infrastructure on no dunks, he's falling apart. And he is supposed to be. Their attitude, and he. He is generally their attitude.
D
Somebody's got. Come on. Somebody has to step up.
A
You have to step up. He's been cold recently.
D
And you had Ingram out there. You had Barnes out there again, quickly, whatever. He came over. I wasn't all that impressed with what he did, but at least he walked over to him. The Pelicans, was it Herb Jones. He pushed Dejounte Murray harder than anyone on the Raptors did. Now, that was a celebratory. You're the man type of push. But, like, that's embarrassing. That's. I'm sorry. Like, again, you know, I want to throw around soft, but that's. There's no fight at all. Yeah.
B
There's literally no fight.
A
No.
B
Yeah.
A
Surprising when it's Brandon Ingram's original team, the team that, you know, where he made a name. I thought there'd be a little. Little juice. No Juice. No Juice.
D
No. He's pretty chill guy.
A
He's a chill guy. You got to do it for him.
B
He's not the guy.
A
He's not doing it.
D
No.
B
They don't have the guy you would think would do it, he was on the ground.
D
Yeah, exactly.
B
Yeah. That's the problem.
D
Yes.
B
But Murray. Murray's a great trash talker. He had that moment with Paolo Banchero during the summer. He almost fought him as well. So that's good to see him back. Bringing the tude.
D
He does. Oh, man. This was, like, not the only time in this game where he's barking and yelling at guys and stepping to them. So, yeah, he's feeling himself, but nice to see. It would be nice to see somebody on the Raptor stick up for shot after he got, you know, clowned. Guy's standing over him, screaming, yes. Seeked him out. It's wild that nobody did anything.
B
All right, nine and a half games. Nine and a half games out of tenth for the Pelicans.
D
No, there's no chance. There's zero chance. But, like, I thought about you, though, when you were saying a couple weeks ago, you're like, you gotta trade Zion this summer. Like, you gotta trade High. He's playing well. And what did I say to you? I was like, I don't know, man. I'm a little worried they're gonna play well here over this stretch because their guys are back and they're gonna go run it back, baby. We could be good when our guys play. And like, yeah, you sort of can, but you just. Then you'll start next season and somebody will get hurt and then another guy will get hurt, and you're just gonna be back at square one. So that's the worry. Let's show you the Western Conference standings as of Thursday morning. Here they are. Thunder, spurs, up top. And then look at the log jam. We got four teams at 40 wins. They're all separated by half a game. It goes Rockets, Lakers, Nuggets, Timberwolves. I should have noted that Denver now holds the tiebreaker over the Rockets after winning last night. They have The Season Series 3 1. So, you know, that's why we got this bunch up there. But that could play a part. Like I would say, at this point, we probably have a tiebreaker coming into play, Right? Like a potential season series deciding a seed or two here and then. You see there, Sun 7, Clippers 8, and then warriors and Blazers. We had some.
A
Yeah, those four teams. The run in the 44, four teams trying to run to the end. I mean, it is a good race. 40 and 25 for two teams and 40 and 26 for two teams.
D
Awesome.
B
You think we're getting some last week shenanigans? You know, we're trying, like, avoid it. We don't.
D
We don't want.
B
We'd be happier being six than their third. We're going to arrest our guys. That happens.
D
Yeah, it does. It does.
B
That last week of the season is a weird one.
D
Yeah, it is. I guess I will say, though, like, your, you know, your 4, 5 matchup or your 3, 6 matchup. No, I guess. Yeah, you might want to be three, six, like, if you don't want to see the Thunder in the second round. Like, if you have, like, plans that you can go quite far. Yeah.
A
Yeah.
D
The answer to your question. Yes. There'll be something.
A
Yeah.
D
And then we'll all go, oh, that's bulletin board material for Team X. But will it matter? Probably not.
A
Yeah. The last night they've tried to circumvent that. Right. Because they've tried to schedule it perfectly where all the games essentially start at the same time for the Western Conference teams, the Rockets, the Wolves, and they start at the same time. The Clippers. But I guess they're not all playing the Nuggets also. So the Nuggets, Wolves, Rockets, all start at the same time. What's the team I'm missing here?
D
Some scoreboard watching will be happening. There'll be an assistant coach. That'll be his only duty.
A
Yeah. The Lakers. The Lakers. That's right. Yeah. All three for six. They all start at the same time. That's right. Yeah. 8:30.
D
What day is the last day of the regular season?
A
Sunday, April 12th.
D
Thank you. A month today.
A
Wow. Correct.
B
Wow.
D
Incredible.

news about Golden State Warriors. They've ruled out Steph curry for another 10 days with persistent right knee issues. This is going to stretch Curry's absence at least five, maybe six games because of their schedule, I think it's six. He has missed the previous 15 for what they call runner's knee, which is typically swelling pain around the kneecap. So not good here. TAS warriors have lost three straight. I mean, they're losing to the Bulls and Jazz at this point without Curry. So I guess they're just, maybe they're just looking at the standings like we just showed you, and they're like, well, we're not going up. We're so far behind the seventh, eighth. Like we're gonna be the ninth or tenth team. We, we have no real fear of like falling out of the play in because of the teams behind them. Let's just get Curry as healthy as possible and try it that way.
A
Yeah, right. Yeah. The unfortunate part of Steph expected to come back around the All Star Game and here we are nearing a month later and I guess there was a reason Steve Kerr kept saying we gotta reduce the schedule. I mean, he's, he's always said that, but he's been saying it a lot recently. And I, I think it's based on Steph and trying to get him as healthy as possible and not as injured as possible with the old runner's knee, as it's being called. Because the unfortunate part, he came back again expectedly around the All Star Game to try and get a feel for things like he was working out, but he just never was able to overcome. Just didn't materialize it didn't. He didn't recover. And so that's the scary part here, a month later.
B
Yeah, he's basically said, I've never had my body respond this way and it's completely unpredictable. So it wouldn't surprise me if he's done for the season. There's no reason. Get him ready for next year.
A
Yeah, yeah, it's a good point.
D
It's possible. Like I said, there's six games what I think it is behind the Suns in seventh spot. So, like there's like 17 games left for them.
B
It's very likely these games that he's going to miss. They've got the Timberwolves at home tomorrow on Friday and then they go for a six game road trip. Like he, there's no way he's going to go play any of those games. Maybe he's back for the Nets at home on the 25th. But at that point, why.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, except to get to playoff gate money, like obviously gate money. Well, maybe make your way through the plane is my point. But yeah, yeah, no, I'm with you. And look, I have a lot more confidence in the Clippers putting up a fight in a potential first round series against the Thunder or. Well, I guess it would be the Thunder as you would be in the eight spot. They're not doing anything even with Curry, if we're being honest.
A
Yeah, they're not that good. And I'm sure their medical staff says, yeah, we can try and push you back. We'll see. But then Steph has to say, I don't know, we're not going through the Clippers. So Kawhi may have ended Steph Curry's season because you can't get through the Clippers. I mean, that's. How are they going to beat the Los Angeles Clippers? The way the Clippers are playing? I mean. No.
D
Well, they could beat the Blazers. We agree with that in the game
A
one of the plan.
D
And then could they not beat the Suns? If the Clippers beat the Suns.
A
If the Suns beat the Clippers.
D
No, I'm saying if the Clippers beat
B
the Suns and clippers are in seven, eight right now.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So the loser seven doesn't play a
D
game plan, seven doesn't play 10 and eight doesn't play nine.
A
That's disrespect to the Phoenix Suns, though.
D
I'm just. They could beat him in one game with Steph Curry. They could. Yeah. But then, then the point was. Okay, then what? I mean, yeah, you're just, you're just putting more wear and tear on his body here. For what? Really?
A
Yeah. If he can't recover two home playoff games like this. It's been, it's been a while. That's the unfortunate part. We've never seen, you know, biz in Steph Curry's career where he's just unable to come back this has been a long time.
D
Yeah. Let's go to the Eastern Conference. Let me chuck all the Big east wins last night. Desmond Bain scored 35 to help the Magic beat the Cavs 128, 122. We have the Knicks coming back against the Utah Jazz. Ended up dominating them 134, 117. But they were down big early. They ended a little two game losing streak. And LaMelo Ball scored 30. Hornets beat the Kings 117. 109. Trey, we'll start with you here. I mean I think we know the answer, but. Most impressive Eastern Conference win.
B
You're thinking Hornets over Kings, right? That's right. Definitely no.
D
Hey, the Kings had already we run a one game win streak.
B
Hey, I think the Kings have won four of their past nine after losing 16 straight.
D
Light the beam.
B
Keep it on the beam. Yeah, light the beam. 50 Cent. No, it's the Magic over the Cavs. This is a great win I thought for Orlando and a really fun game. A wild ending. Like it looked like the Mavis or the Magic were going to get home pretty easily. They had like a 10 point lead. And then the last two minutes between the Cavs and the Magic. Five straight made three pointers, culminating in Desmond Bain hitting that right wing three pointer off of a sidelines out of bound play. It was James Harden and Wendell Carter Jr. Right on the. On the right sideline they were trying to enter the ball to Carter. Brutal pass by Desmond Bain. Harden says he didn't touch it. You can see him saying to the
D
ref, on my life, on my life,
B
I didn't touch that ball. But the Cavs had no challenges and when they slowed it down, I don't think that the Cavs would have won that replay anyways. It seemed like not enough evidence. Maybe it was off Carter, maybe Harden touched it. You just could not tell.
A
But we need a hawkeye.
B
We need a hawkeye for that. You gotta go Hawk mode. But they couldn't do it. 8 and 3 though. Post all star for the Orlando Magic. They got some good wins mixed in there as well. They beat the Clippers, the Lakers, the Timberwolves, and then last night the Cavs, which I think was was their best win. Here's a new award I would like to propose to you in season. Most improved player. And it goes to Desmond Bain. Because this guy was brutal through 20, 25. 19 points per game, 44 from the field, 34 from three in 20, 26, 22 per game, 55 from the field, 44 from three. He's awesome. He's the reason they won this game last night. Hitting threes, getting downhill, creating for others. And then he hit the dagger that put him over the top to beat the Cavs. He's been really, really good. You throw in Paolo playing with better efficiency during the second half of the season as well. The Magic look all right right now.
D
I was going to say they might be 1, 2 in your hypothetical made up award of like in season improvement, but Bain leading it. I also just checked Desmond Bain. He should be at least on the odds for NBA clutch player of the year. Nowhere in sight. Guys had a lot of clutch buckets. He has, he has. But it's Shea as the favorite. Then it's Anthony Edwards, Maxi Jokic, Murray Cunningham. I don't, I don't even see Desmond Bain at/4000 tasks and I'm upset about it.
A
Have you checked the clutch stats?
D
No, I haven't. I'm just going on feel on this one.
A
Yeah, he seems to be the guy that they go to when they need a play at the end of the game. Whether or not he should have been eligible to shoot that three ball, it's a good question. Did it go off Harden beforehand? But they got there in part because Desmond Bain and yes, I guess Paolo Bonchero, who gets the second votes for most improved during the season because he looks like a different player. He looks like the game has slowed down for him. When he gets into the lane, he ain't just forcing things. He can get two feet into the lane and then make the right pass or he can just slow it down and say, I'm bigger than you. I can pump you until you move a little bit and get that bucket. He has been so, so good since the All Star break. He is up five points per game. He is up five field goal percentage points, four three point percentage points, one more rebound, one more assist since before the All Star game. So six per game. So he's making things happen out there. It looks like an entirely different team. They're cutting, there's ball movement, there's body movement. They do look great. So they got there to the end and yeah, Desmond Bain takes over when Paul Bunchero sits down. Tristan Da Silva was really, really good in this game. And even Wendell Carter when the Cavs throwing the zone out there, Magic said, all right. Oh, Wendell, you get to the elbow and we'll give it to you and you make some plays. And he did that. Boncaro did that. They still got Franz to come. This team is a shocker. It's surprising how hot they've been recently. They look like, again, a different team after half. And that's why after the All Star break specifically, and that's why, you know that article that Mark Spears dropped about Paolo Bonkers gonna bring that up.
D
Yep.
A
Feels real because Bank Arrow looks like a different guy again. Him and Bane are hand in hand and Suggs as well as leaders on this team, but he, again, different guy. So he gets votes for most improved during the season too.
D
He told Mark Spears. Bancaro did. I looked in the mirror first over the All Star break. I watched a lot of film over the early part of the season. I just wasn't happy with what I put out. Some of that had to do with me being injured and coming back, but talked about having this better mindset and yeah, must have watched the tape. I'm like, oh man, what am I doing out there? Because we were talking about it earlier in the year like he was forcing things seemed harder. The blinders on just. He was not in any sort of rhythm. But yeah, it's gotten going here in the second half of the season or this last stretch and we could have this matchup that they played last night. Four, five again. I mean we've seen these two teams play before. Was a bit of a dog fight in. In the playoffs. So maybe it stays Cavs Magic once again. Yeah, you know, obviously different team, especially in Cleveland there with Harden who had a pretty good game and Mitchell did too, but didn't get a lot from the small forward position last night. Almost a problem for the Cavs, I think. Dean Wade Deener Stinker.
B
00 for Dean go for.
D
Was he.
B
Yeah. And no, no Jared Allen as well. And that guy's very, very important for them. We'll talk about the Cavs a little bit as well, but the question is like Franz Wagner theoretically is coming back. They don't need him right now. The Paulo Franz fit is part of the reason the Magic struggled at the beginning of the year. And look credit to Paolo for looking in the mirror and realizing he wasn't playing the way he needed to be. But it's also very evident that the two of them on the court occupy the same places a lot of the time and do a lot of the same things. So I think it would kind of throw a wrench into things to bring Franz back at this point in the season. But also he's maybe their best player. So are you going to do it? Or is Desmond Bain their best player? Or is Paulo Boncaro their Best player uncertain, you would like to know going into the playoffs and it's getting late.
A
Yeah, they just seem to find a way to play off each other. So Tristan De Silva was in the corner a lot of time. You can see Franz doing that. You can see Paolo Bancaro doing that as he was yesterday. I think they can swap basically, is what I mean. They can because the. The four guys, plus one Del Carter Jr. You know, Suggs, Bane, Franz and Ben Carroll will lead the way. Plus one Del Carter and yeah, Tristan De Silva can be that guy off the bench. And Anthony Black, who also not playing right now.
D
Any.
B
I mean that's.
A
Look, a lot of guys, they've taken
B
out two of their starters and gotten better. Yeah, that's weird.
D
Yeah. I mean, big part, no doubt. Suggs is huge. That guy has to play for them to be good. Like as he sets an identity on the defensive end and. And can right now can shoot a little bit. So. But you're not wrong, TK like maybe they just have too many of the same things and you remove a couple and it works a little bit better. The flow of the offense and the packing order and all that. Yeah, it seems to for sure. And some of these are impressive wins. Like they've beaten some crappy teams here, but some quality wins here. Any other must share notes on the Knicks or the Hornets beating some bad teams?
B
I mean, not must share, but the Jazz were up six against the New York Knicks. Keonte George tweaked his hammy and Utah was outscored 55 to 29 the rest of the way. Good job by the Knicks. Waiting, just waiting. Just wait and you can pull it out at the end. The only other thing I thought that was interesting is Lamelo Ball had a great game against the Kings. Had a 3 in front of their bench and said something to Malik Monk and Russell Westbrook that actually made them both laugh. Westbrook's not a guy that likes to be trash talked.
D
No.
B
So whatever Lamello said must have been pretty funny.
D
Good for him. Got Westbrook to smile while playing. Yeah, that is impressive. Let's show you the Eastern conference standings. Detroit still number one. Three and a half game lead over the Celtics. Two there then it goes Knicks, Cavs, Magic, Heat. Yes, the Miami Heat are in the six seat. You know, very similar record there to the Magic. And then Raptors have fallen into the plan. Oh, by God. Sixers right behind them. And then the Hawks and the Hornets. We're going to talk more about these teams when we get into the Pyramid ranking of the Eastern Conference. Let's take a quick break, and then we will do such a thing. Fanduel is giving all customers a profit boost every single day through March 15th from now till that final 68 is revealed. It's time to rank the Eastern Conference. Trey Kirby got out the rulers, he got out the the pencil crayons, and he got to work ranking.
B
Yes, I did. I was very thankful to see that my Western Conference pyramid, if you simply layer a sheet of paper over it, works as a perfect blueprint.
D
Excellent.
B
So the lines are crispy, but I'll say the Eastern Conference, way harder to make a pyramid for. For two reasons. First and foremost, a lot of similar color schemes here in the Eastern Conference.
D
What's the most popular color. I know we'll see it at the end, but what's the most popular.
B
Most popular color, I would say is red. We got multiple red and blue teams. We got three red and black teams that are in the playoff picture. That's not even including the Bulls.
D
Yeah, right.
B
You know, like, you don't think of the Hawks as a red and black team. Yeah, but they were. They were black uniforms. Yeah, quite a bit.
D
And you got the Raptors. You got. The Sixers are red and blue. The Pistons are red and blue.
B
Obviously red.
D
Yeah. Jesus.
B
Yeah, I was. I was having to ask the guys,
D
which color do I go for?
B
Which team? The important questions. Also something that makes it a little harder is these teams are a lot closer in quality, I think, than the Western Conference. You got a top four that is pretty similar, and you got a bottom six that I think is fairly similar. So we'll start in tier four.
D
Okay.
B
Unfortunately, I go to the Atlanta hawks at number 10. They've won seven straight. Only one of those was against the winning team. It was against the 76ers, who had no Joel Embiid, no Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey went down with his finger injury there in the clutch. But big credit to the Hawks for getting over 500 for getting a positive point differential. And I guess all of those stats about over the last 2500 games, they're 1250 and 1250 or whatever it may be, they're a little bit over right now.
D
Yeah, they're screwing up that. Okay.
B
Longest winning streak in the league right now.
A
Yeah. To me their X factor is Dyson Daniels. We know their backcourt, CJ McCollum and Nikhil Alexander Walker and then their front line of Jalen Johnson and Yaka Kongwu and Dyson Daniels. Look, there's going to be production, but I think Dyson Daniels, the guy who's gotten them to these seven wins, he's been balling 50 assists, only four turnovers over these seven games. And I mentioned him, even though the stats aren't there, he could be nominated for that award. You mentioned Trey and in season most improved player, like he has still stunk from the three point line but he's gotten better at getting into the lane and deciding how to help guys again. Those are great numbers. Doesn't turn it over. So, so they're going to try and get him on the offensive glass as they've done, you know, because he's like a corner guy. He's going to jump in on those offensive boards and he's going to make other plays, plays for other guys. So that's what can win you playoff games. And so that's going to be important in the play in game and then the playoffs. I think he's, he's really the guy.
D
Be interesting to see the Hawks in a play in game without Trey Young. It's going to be weird.
A
Yeah.
D
But I, I've enjoyed watching the Hawks recently a lot more than I can say I have over the last coup seasons. Yeah, there's, there's some fight to them. I, I love Jill and Johnson. Like he had that credible start and, and then I think he had a stretch there. Maybe it was injuries involved. It cooled off a little bit. But he is attacking defenses right now. That Sixers game, man, I, I, I brought it up the other day like I was there. He just kept dunking, he's kept driving and dunking and there was not a lot of resistance from the Sixers who were short a lot of guys, but it was impressive. Kaminga coming over here feels, you know, feel. Have they lost since Kaminga's played? I don't, I don't know. But he's barely played is the other thing. I think he's only played three games for them.
B
Yeah, he's lost a Lot of time
D
he's looked solid when he's been out there. And then he said the defense, like Dyson Daniels. Hell yeah. He locks in and so does Nikhil Alexander Walker, who then can score and is having a nice little stretch here. So they'll, they're, they're, they're rolling. Right. It's the best they've looked in a long time. The way they played hasn't been the most amazing competition. So we'll see when they play better teams. But could they get into the playoffs like through the plan? Yeah, because you having them 10th here. I got, I got teams that I would have in that position. I'll just say that right now. So I would have them a little bit higher, but you got, of course, in the right tier.
B
Thank you. Number nine. My biggest regret. Maybe I made the pyramid too early. Maybe I built them too early.
D
Too premature.
B
The Orlando Magic, I got them in ninth. They're third in net rating in the last 15 games, plus the best defense in the league in those 15 games. I would hear arguments for them being fifth, to be quite honest. But I also have watched the Magic in the playoffs the past couple of seasons, so that's why they've ended up here for me.
A
Yeah, they have to prove it in the playoffs, but they're better than they were last year, record wise. Feel wise. I mean, they're 36 and 28 at this point through 64 games last year, they were 29 and 35. And yeah, they got the vibes where they are moving the ball and they're moving their bodies. It's just way different than they were in the first half of the season. It looks like a different basketball team. So could they. You're vaulting them to fifth, potentially. That means, you know, they'd be higher than a Heat or Sixers or obviously the Raps. Yeah, it ain't stupid.
D
They're better than the Raptors, I'll tell you that. They're probably better than the Sixers just because, I mean, who the hell's playing.
B
Yes.
D
Like, their main guys are out. The Heat is where I go. Ooh, I don't know. Because they're both playing great right now. So that, that's the coin flip to me between the Heat and the Magic. But Toronto should not be above this team. This team is better. They are. They play with a little purpose. They have a defensive identity. I mean, I know the Raptors sort of do, too, but then, you know, I trust their guys to actually score a little bit more. And they're just. They're clicking right now.
B
They're clicking.
A
They are and they're. The Heat and Magic are in a similar boat where they got to throw in one of the guys that they use all the time because he was injured. Franz Wagner is huge and Norman Powell to go along with Tyler here who just came back and was playing his best ball. So there's that added little hurdle in the next month here. They're both in the same. Same similar boats, I should say.
B
Yeah, actually. I mean, we'll get to the Heat later, but I was picking between Miami and Orlando who was going to go fifth and I picked Miami and I don't know why that meant I went ninth for Orlando. But yeah, Pyramid, man. A lot of questions are unanswered when it comes to how did they do that? Build such a structure. Really makes you think. At number eight, the Charlotte Hornets. People are going to say this is too low, but I got questions. Will this style of play work in the playoffs? They're great at offensive rebounding. They get a lot of great shooting from con canipple. Lamelo is a big time risk reward guy, but plays. I think he's been playing great this season. Had an awesome game last night. But teams can focus on the offensive rebounding. We've seen shooters be taken out of the playoff series when it's game plan mode, so I wonder if Khan will have quite as much space. I still have confidence that he will knock him down. And Lamelo, like, how long are you going to live with him chucking up crazy shots in clutch time? So I got him eighth. I hope they make it into the real playoffs.
D
I was just going to say that of all the teams in tier four, like, this is the one I do want to just see get in there through the play. I just want to see them like even if they got swept, I just want to see them and I want the city of Charlotte and their fan base who have like started to rally around this team because they're obviously playing better basketball. Like there's a bit of a vibe I would say in that place now, which is good. I think it would translate well to an NBA TV series or whatever they are. But still it'd be fun. So I hope they get in and I think you have them in the obviously the right tier and probably the right spot too.
A
Everyone loves the kids and that's what this comes down to. These are all young guys, so they win the fun new team at the dance award. You know, we're excited to see Lamelo Ball in the playoffs. The guys never play in the playoffs.
D
And Miller.
A
Yeah, and Brandon Miller, he's just one of the more fun offensive players to watch. And yeah, it's intriguing because, yeah, they're new. Never done this before, but also they've got, like, intriguing guy in con canal who, if he can do this in his first year, I think that bodes well for a playoffs appearance. And what they're going to do in the playoffs, they're not going to get smacked. They're not going to get swept, I think. I think because they're like, we got
D
nothing to lose sort of mentality too, which can work. Yeah, yeah. Can shock a team the way they play.
A
Yeah, yeah. But they. They also play older than they actually are in terms of their seniority here in NBA playoffs games. They don't have a lot, but I think conquer nipple especially, you know, that kind of stability will help lead guys. And we're going to see lots of highlights like Musa Diabate doing stuff that'll get people excited on the tweeters.
D
I'm with you. If they make it into the postseason, they're not getting swept. I'm with you. They shoot too many threes and they hit too many threes. They'll win a game just on that alone. They play the Celtics. Get ready for a million three pointers attempted between those two teams in that series. But I'm most excited to see your pyramid, whether you went with Cho or Cha.
B
Do you want me to give you a spoiler now or do you want to?
D
Well, I hope you went the correct way.
B
I would never in my life. Right.
D
Cho. Thank you.
B
It looks terrible.
A
Why do we do this?
B
I hate there. I have a couple of concerns with basketball reference and the way they abbreviate things. I think Cho is bad. I think faux for Phoenix is bad, though. I do love nachos and I do love pho.
D
Yeah.
B
And I think BRK is bad. I don't know. I think it should be bkn.
D
I'm with you on that one, too. How do you feel about Portland? Do you like a PDX or do you like a Porsche?
B
I actually like plr.
D
Okay.
B
Yeah, Just me. It's not an airport, you know.
D
No, it's not.
B
At number seven, the Toronto Raptors. But from what I'm hearing, maybe they should be ninth or 10th, the Toronto Raptors. I thought I was going to be stirring the pot with you guys, putting them in the bottom tier, but I think you like this team even less than me.
D
I do. I do. I Put the Bulls there.
A
They got playing.
D
They got Leonard Miller at least.
A
Who would they be a above.
D
That's the, this is the 10th.
A
If you, if they, if there's a reason to prop them up into tier three. Who would they be above?
B
That's the problem with, with this team, Philly. Maybe they're. They're a fake team right now.
A
Yeah, yeah. That's the only, the only team they would be above is a team that's extremely banged up. This is a regular season team. You know, in the playoffs, defensive teams are going to take away your first action on a floor. That's going to happen. And you see it at the end of games. That's exactly what happens. They get there to close games at the end and defensive teams take away their first action and they cannot adapt to hit him with the second action. They don't get into the lane enough. They're just not moving defenses east to west. They don't. So when the playoffs start, teams are going to play good defense. And that means the Raptors are a regular season team.
D
They haven't not been a very good team in a long time. The raptors were like 14 and six after 20 games. And you know, they're probably. That leaves them at least like that's around 500, I guess since then they just haven't impressed. Like you said, they've split the season series with the Charlotte Hornets. They did take care of business against the Heat at least so far. They've played well against the Hawks, though. I think they have a couple of games left. And then right now, as we've talked about a million times, they can't beat a good team. And last I checked, most teams in the postseason are good teams.
B
Most of them.
D
But that's going to be a problem. If they're there. I would have them 10th. I'd have them in the bottom right hand corner of the pyramid because I actually just. I hate this team. I do not like watching them. I've watched crappier Raptors teams where I have more joy and like the fight and how they're sort of constructed than I do this.
A
Yeah.
D
I don't know. And maybe people are gonna be like, oh, you're a Debbie Downer. No, I'm just not convinced in this team at all.
A
No.
B
Well, the good thing is they got most of these guys locked up multiple seasons afterwards.
D
Exactly.
A
Yeah. It hasn't been. Overall season wise, it hasn't been extremely disappointing. Just record wise, you know, they're there. But when you watch an end of Game, It's. It's easy to see that they can't execute. The record is bad against good teams. And so how could it possibly change in the off. In the postseason? It's not. Again, the end of game execution, not so good. I brought up going to Brandon Ingram and where he used to play basketball in New Orleans. I thought they would just have a fight. They gave him a tribute video. You know, we got to do this for our guy. Like, there's.
D
Why would you think Brandon Ingram would have any fight?
A
No, no, no, no, no, no. They're guys for. There. For him. Something. Anybody who. I mean, they're a scrap.
D
Scott, he's done a good job carrying the defense. He's done a good job, but they
A
don't have these guys. I'm gonna keep talking while you talk.
D
That is right. They got no dogs, man. None.
B
No dogs. They don't come on.
A
Coming into the season, we all said, I guess their defense off the bench. They had scrappy guys and they have those guys, but they don't have an offense. And. And so at least fool us with that same scrap level that you had earlier in the season, because you're not going to outscore teams, but at least fight, right. They didn't have that.
D
Okay, they're in the bottom. I can't believe they're sevens, but it's fine. Yeah.
B
I mean, they got one of the corners. It's one of the most important pieces
D
of a pyramid pillar.
B
Yeah. At number six, tier three, major projection. This is Team Ifman, the Philadelphia 76ers. If Maxi's healthy, if Embiid is healthy, if Paul George is healthy and in rhythm, the Philadelphia 76ers can make for an exciting first round playoff series. Could they win it? Depending on the right matchup. Yeah.
D
Yeah.
B
I can squint and see as a world where the Sixers win a first rounder.
A
Yeah. It wasn't that long ago. Like a couple weeks ago when we saw him beat healthy, you start to think, okay, yeah, they could win a series. It wasn't that long ago. No, Maxi was healthy, too. Oh, yeah.
D
Paul George coming back, their best opponent. If, like you said, if. If these guys are somewhat healthy and can play, who do you think you could be? Like the. Yeah, they could. They could upset them.
B
Interesting, because we say that, but they
D
are gonna have to play one of the top four teams.
B
Okay, well, I mean, if they. Yeah, I guess they are gonna have to. They couldn't get Miami, right? I think they take their chances. Maybe Detroit. I think that's the team that lower seated playoff teams would want to play just because of the lack of creation outside of Cade and the experience factor, I guess.
A
Are the Cavs included in that group of better teams?
D
Four.
A
Yeah, it's them. I think it's the Sixers.
D
Yeah.
A
Well, again, there's. There's so many questions. It's an oblique for mb. This ain't even his knee. But yeah, I. If they're all healthy, and that's pretty important because Tyrese Maxey is their best player. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise as. As you guys said yesterday, he plays the most minutes in the NBA, but now he can sit and get some rest. But it. There's, you know, multiple things here. It's him. It's also Embiid 100%. He has to be playing. And that's a huge question mark. You know, the. Paul George has come back. March 25 is supposed to be back. That's, you know, a good few weeks, I guess. That's. That's good. But, but, but, but. There's too many buts.
D
Yeah. Cavs have beaten the Sixers four times this year now. I don't know how many games have been missed. I know he missed the last one. Maybe he missed a couple others without going through them, but Cavs have done okay. Well, they change their team, so things are different. They played earlier in the year a couple times, so I wouldn't think they'd beat Cleveland, I guess Detroit. I get your reasoning, but I'll be taking Detroit if we get a 18 matchup.
B
I mean, I would pick against Philadelphia and basically every playoff series.
A
Yeah, but we know that Jared Allen doesn't play all that well in the postseason. We haven't seen it yet. So there's that factor. I mean, you just start knocking guys off the cast potentially here. The Wings, they got some injury problems, but it's. Yes, again, I wouldn't pick them over the Cavs right now, but I think Phil or Joel Embiid's nickname comes in handy right here. He's got a weird nickname, Duo180. That's his nickname, Duo1 8. It was one of his basketball reference nicknames. So you could do a 180 on this team and the prognosis of this team, if they're all healthy again, you
B
could do a 180.
A
I could do a 180 because I did one a few weeks ago when Bede was playing. But then an oblique. That's no joke, abs.
B
That's true.
A
Ouch.
B
That's a bad one.
A
Yeah.
B
The Philadelphia 76ers, that's who they are right now at number five, the Miami Heat. You got a top five defense. They're experienced, having made each the playoffs each season. The last six seasons since Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo have been around. You throw in Andrew Wiggins, he's got a ring. Throw in Norm Powell, he's played in a ton of playoff games. And of course Bam could go for 80 plus any night. So this is why I had him so high.
A
Norm's got a ring.
D
Yeah.
A
Lots of rings.
B
Norm's got a ring.
A
Yeah. What do you think about the Heat?
D
I think this is the right spot.
B
Sure.
D
Yeah. I mean, look, there can't be beat. If Bam goes for 83, that's always going to be a problem. Undefeated matchup. But yeah, I think you got him in the right spot. The Zombie Heat. It's like you've become one of these teams. As Simmons always saying this, like, who wants to see this team? Probably not a lot. Like if you had to pick in a lot of your postseason matchups, like not them Spoels, just too smart. They do have an identity. They are playing better. Yeah. So no, I wouldn't want to. But they're not better probably than these other four teams ahead of them. So you got them in the. Right. In the what? Basically the middle of this damn thing.
A
Yeah, yeah. The timing of when we pick this pyramid or when you pick this pyramid tray is important here. You know, Bam just scored 83.
D
That's true.
A
This team's on a six game win streak. And I think a big factor is Tyler Hero and the way he's looked over that six game win streak other than when Bam scored 83, he was sitting for that one. They have been the second best offense in the NBA for the last six games. Hey, now, there's lots of, lots of duds that they played in there. The Wizards, a couple nets in there. But they beat the Hornets, Pistons and Rockets in there. And so they also have to throw in Norm Powell when he gets back and Andrew Wiggins, the two ring holders, because they're injured. And so they have to fit some, some puzzle pieces there. So this bottom of the pyramid could be like a puzzle piece. You could be switching those around a little bit. But we're riding the six game win streak for the Heat and they do fight. But again, the offense has to be entirely different. I shouldn't say entirely different, but it will be different with Norman Hero. It's not quite the Magic and throwing Franz in there because Powell could come off the bench, as you said, along with Jaime Hawkes. But that is something because Hero hasn't been playing much this year, and so he hasn't played with these guys.
D
Yeah.
B
You think, though? You think Norm will be a bench guy?
A
I don't. I don't think so initially, but. But maybe. I mean, it's taking. Pelly Larson would be the guy who'd go to the bench for Norm, which makes sense. But Pelly Larson's a good connector guy.
D
Yeah.
A
Norm on the bench and just being that score as at last year, he was starting for what, 50 games and then went to the bench at the end of the season for the Clippers. So that could happen again.
B
At number four, the Cleveland Cavaliers. They're core four right now. Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jared Allen. How many minutes have they played together?
A
Not a lot.
D
No.
A
They were saying it on the broadcast yesterday and I've already forgotten.
B
Is it 31?
D
That's it.
B
I was going to get 31 minutes together. It's been like Harden was out with his thumb, Mobley was out. Allen is out right now in those 31 minutes. They're massively positive, but we just haven't seen it altogether yet for the most part. And it's a little hard to ignore the Cleveland playoff performances of the past couple of seasons coupled with the James Harden playoff performances of the past couple of decades. So that's why I had him fourth, though. If people wanted to pitch me on them being a Tier 2 team, I could understand.
D
Yeah. But there is no more team in the NBA than the Cavs than. I'll believe it when I see it. That's where they are right now. Have been for a little bit. We know you're good in the regular season. We just have to see you string together a couple of these in a postseason. Some of these guys, that's it. That's all where I'm at. I hear you. Tier two, tier three, it almost doesn't matter to me. They're good, but can they make a deep run? I mean, in this conference, you could. If it shook out the right way. There's an injury or two, you get a little luck. Your advantage, I mean. Sure. But I like where they are.
A
Yes, this is a good spot for them, and their first round matchup will be a good one if it's Orlando or Miami. But I would take. I would take them in. In a series against. Yeah. Whether it's Miami or Orlando or whether it's Philly could. They can't get up there. But yeah, they do look good. But it is a. We'll see what James Harden can do in the postseason. More importantly, I think we'll see what Jared Allen can do in the postseason because Evan Mobley, as much as I love the guy as your 5 without the support of Jared Allen is is a question mark and he's trying to do his thing with Jared Allen out, who is supposed to come back really soon. So, yeah, this is a good spot for them. And again, I would take them in a first round series and then potentially seeing them against the Detroit Pistons in round two would be a good one.
D
Two years, two years ago, I definitely took the magic to upset them in the first round. Upset them. I think it was a four or five matchup actually two years ago. And that went seven.
B
Seven.
D
I mean, it was close. Did the Cavs destroy them in Game seven? Does that sound familiar?
B
Anyway, that does sound familiar.
D
I feel like there was a real big dud at the end. But anyway, I was close with that prediction, but we could get it again like we said. But I sort of. I side with you. I would think I'd take Cleveland, but I think it would be a close series. I don't think they would destroy them. You know, last year, the Casino number one seed and they destroyed the Heat, who they took in the first round. That was a sweep, I think. So they're going to have a bit of a test, but yeah, it'll be how these guys, especially Harden, Allen and Mobley, you know, Mitchell's fine. You know what you're going to get from Mitchell in the postseason.
B
Okay. I know he's going to lose in round two. Well, yeah, I think his conference finals are bust for Cleveland.
D
Oh, sure, sure.
B
And I mean, really, they want to make the finals with how much they've invested in this team and how much this is their team at this point.
A
That's what makes this Eastern Conference playoffs fun because you got them as an Eastern Conference finals or bust. Exact same thing for the New York Knicks. At the very least, being that they were there last year and then, yeah, other teams could disappoint.

Speaking of the Knicks, they're our first team in tier two. At number three, it's the Knicks. They are very similar to me, to the Wolves in the Western Conference. They have good wins and equally as dispiriting losses. They got some conference finals continuity. They do have the second best defense in the last 15 games, as we've talked about. Landry Shamut has been a huge find for them after barely getting into the rotation last year. He's helped the team. Jose Alvarado has helped the team. I think we're kind of getting the best interplay between Brunson and Towns that we've seen since Cat came to New York. But I've seen so many bad losses for the Knicks that it kind of just leaves a sour taste in my mouth at times, which is why I have them at three rather than two.
D
Yeah. Looking at their schedule, the Knicks should, and I say should because they play down to their competition at times. They should win their next six games. They play garbage teams. They play the Pacers, they play the Warriors. Sorry, Without Steph, they're bad. They play the Pacers again at home. They play the Nets, they play the Wizards, and they play the Pelicans. Okay. Who are at least fighting a little bit here because they, you know, not tanking by any means, but that's. That should be five or six and obviously could help their chances to move up in the standings. The Knicks. I know I'm making excuses for them, but they feel like a team that is like, just like, can we just start the postseason already? Like, that's not good. I don't want that from a team that has plans to go far. But, like, I can understand it a little bit. It's where they are. That's what I see from them, like, because that's why we get these amazing Performances in some of the bigger marquee games. And then these duds, they're just like, let's go, can we just flip the calendar to April, whatever The playoffs start 15, 16, 17, whatever it is. And I have more confidence in them is my point. Like I think that once we get there, you know, and then these are big games and stakes are high, I think they're still one of the top two, probably best teams in the Eastern Conference.
A
Oh. So I would, yeah, plop them over Detroit.
D
I think so. Yeah.
A
They got a terrible draw in the playoffs because their second round matchup would be Boston, which they did last year. But this time it's also on the road.
D
Right.
A
Which it wasn't last year. And so they'd have to overcome that. That stinks.
D
That's why, that's why this six game stretch here, I mean they could win all those games and you could jump the Celtics.
A
Yeah.
D
And, and try and get the two.
A
Yeah.
D
It's a play them.
A
It's a two game difference right now. And so they've got three more losses than the Boston Celtics. That's something they got to overcome. That's, that's tough now. They should win the first series, first round series. Whoever they play, they should. But the second round series is tough and then it's disappointing. That's when the headlines come out. This team fired tibs for this to fall back in the playoffs. Yeah. Last year they overcame the Pistons, then the Celtics. This is different. This is should, should be a different Celtics team. Especially now that they don't have home court advantage like they did last year.
B
At number two, it's the Detroit Pistons. They just smoked the Nets but lost their previous four. We were talking about Cade looking a little bit run down. They're getting him some rest and definitely had a rough patch here. They got a little experience having that great first round series against the Knicks last year. The question for me is who's better between Detroit and New York? And I sided with the Pistons.
D
Okay.
B
Yesterday.
A
Yeah, I agree. They have to be above the Knicks. They've smacked them three times this, this season. They played them three times. They've won three times by an average of 24 points.
B
That's a lot of points smacked them.
A
And so it feels every time that they play, they're trying to avenge last year's playoffs loss to the Knicks and it seems like they will. Like they are that hard nosed team coached by JB Bicker staff. They ain't going to lose. It feels like they would beat the Knicks In a playoff series, even though, you know, as I said, the timing is important when we make these pyramids, it doesn't seem all that great for Detroit. I still think in the postseason I would take them over the Knicks. It just feels exactly like that. The story that you write, when a team has taken their lumps from a squad, you know, they've taken it from big brother, as Reggie Miller will say on the broadcast, they go and smack big brother. And will they be able to overcome that? Now, Reggie doesn't say that, but I think they, they. They can avenge those lumps that they took from the Knicks. So this, I think this is the only spot you can't put them below.
B
And they killed them exactly 3, 0.
D
Yeah, but there are instances where that has happened before and, and it, it should matter because otherwise what are we doing? Like the regular season games in the
A
series, but like 24 points average.
D
Yeah, but I always think of it was the Suns Wolves a couple of years ago. They had swept them and we were like, well, that's got to mean something. They got their number. You know, I was picking the Suns. A lot of people were picking the Suns and they got embarrassed. I'm not saying that will happen. They're completely different squads and all that. And there's like the, the revenge factor. And they played last year. A great series could have gone either way. I get it. But I'm just saying sometimes, sometimes it actually means very little. And I think again, I sort of feel Knicks are going through the motions here. I think it'd be a hell of a series if we get it again. I think I would take the Knicks over Detroit if they play again. I hope we get it. I hope we see it.
B
Can I see it?
A
Can I see it?
B
I would choose a meteor hitting the arena, but we'll see.
D
Okay.
B
No offense to these two teams that I hate at the top of the pyramid in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics. I'm buying it. I'm buying Jason Tatum. I'm in. They're already great at the possession game. They're a low turnover team. They don't force a ton of them, but they at least don't give the ball up. They do rebound on the defensive end. They're great offensive rebounding, though. Like I said earlier with the Hornets, that doesn't always come through in the playoffs. But I like that they're second in offense, so they're making these extra possessions count. They added a top 10 player in the league in Jayson Tatum, assuming he gets into rhythm, shakes Some of this rust off here. And of course, they've got a pedigree of making the playoffs, winning in the playoffs, going to conference finals, winning finals, losing finals. They've done it all with Tatum and Brown in the side court. You know, one of them's a guard, one of them's a forward, I suppose, but they got a lot of guys who have done a lot of stuff in the playoffs. I like this team.
A
Yeah, I can't argue it, especially when Tatum comes back. He's only three games back, and in that last game, they put a lot of pressure on him. Or. Or they. They allowed him to just carry the team with Jalen Brown out that game after getting tossed, plus Peyton Pritchard was out. And so to see him operate like that, like old Tatum again, five days into his NBA season, because he played three games in five days, he's questionable for tonight with conditioning. He had a day off in between. So I don't know why they do that. That would be four games in seven days, but I don't know. You see that and you say, okay, Jalen Brown's an MVP candidate, and then you put Tatum beside him, and Derek White and Peyton Pritchard are for real. You know, we. We all question their. Their center spot at the beginning of the season, their depth. But then you get a Shireman and a Sam Houser and Keita, how he's performed, and then a Vuch will eventually come back. Like, this is. That's the recipe for a championship team.
D
Yeah, I think you got them in the right spot. They're basically, to me, like, they're the Nuggets of the east, but they have a defense, like, an elite defense at that. And Joey Maz, man, he's plugging all these guys in. They've got reps. I think it could, you know, play a part in these postseason matchups. One of these. Two of these guys, be it Baggin, Bilbo Baggins or whatever we're calling the Shireman himself or Gonzalez or whoever, like, they could have a moment, and we could. We will. We shouldn't be surprised when they do, because they've got a lot of opportunity. And part of that was Tatum missing basically the whole season, but that can play off in a series that, you know, they need them. So you got them in the right spot. I was wondering, did Jillian Brown get fined for his first social media tweet that, you know, didn't say the refs, but was about the refs after he got ejected there for the two technical fouls? I hadn't heard yet, so I don't see. Maybe. Maybe he'll avoid that one. Yeah. So good for him.
B
He didn't specify anything. He just said this.
D
I know, I know. It's true.
B
He had a slow upload speed on his twitch stream.
D
I don't know. Could have been anything.
B
You know, at half time of the game he was ejected from. Could have been anything.
D
Yep.
B
Take a look at the pyramid.
D
Let's see it.
B
Yeah, let's see it. I'm gonna do it top to bottom this time. At the top, it's the Boston Celtics alone in tier one. Tier two, we've got the Pistons, followed by the knicks. In Tier 3, it goes Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers. And down at the bottom, in the lowest tier, I would change almost every single one of these. I'm looking at it. But right now it goes Raptors, Hornets, Magic, Hawks.
D
I would go Orlando Hornets. So I'd go Magic, Hornets, Hawks, Raptors.
B
I think so. Yeah, me too.
D
But anyway, I think you did a better job on this one. I love the colors. They're really popping.
B
Well, thanks. Thanks for saying that. Here's what I'll say with regards to the construction of this pyramid. I went out of my way to make sure that the points lined up and they look nice.
D
Yeah, they're very nice.
B
I made sure for you, Skeez.
D
You scanned that?
B
I scanned it perfectly. And then I edited on my phone with the grid to make sure that the bottom line was perfectly perpendicular. Very, very good. It was parallel. Sorry, it was parallel, yeah. However, my brickwork on the bottom tier. What's going on with this corner piece of the Toronto Raptors? I knew you would notice.
D
Oh, I was going to say, why did you make this decision to take a chunk out of the pyramid with the L? That line should be going.
B
The Hawks L. Yeah.
D
Shouldn't the pyramid line be going through said L?
B
There is a place where I can connect. Absolutely.
A
There is, but.
D
Oh, I didn't really even notice the. I mean. Yeah.
A
Okay.
B
We got one small brick there. That's where the Pharaoh enters.
D
Yes, yes, yes.
B
So you just can't see the door behind the tombs.
D
Okay. Otherwise, man, I like it, man. I like it a lot. Thanks.
B
It's fun to draw. Just nice to draw something every now and then.
A
Yeah.
B
And, man, if you. If you get the right Instagram algorithm, you can see some amazing doodles, new ways to draw stick figures. If you can draw a triangle that's half shaded, guess what? You can draw a landscape. All I can do is make letters. But I also do watch some, like, graffiti tutorials. So nice with the bevels. Now I'm trying to set my art drawing game up and this is step one.
A
It is fun. My daughters brought me each a sheet yesterday where you're supposed to recreate a shape into an animal. So just joining with the circle. Yeah, I just made it the face of an owl. But it's fun. It's fun. Well, then I. Yeah, I screwed up with. It's this trace of a. Anyways, I'm not going to get into it. It was a dumb. I picked a dumb. A dumb route with my other one. But it's fun to draw. You're totally right. I like the colors you picked. Would you. You sent us a message about Raptors versus Heat. They're red and black, but which team is more prominent? Red. You made the right choice, I think with the Raps versus the Heat went all black. No doubt. But. But I do a little disrespect for the Raps. I would take the Raps over the Hawks in a play in. And I really hope they play each other. I really hope they play each other. And then we'll be down at the Fortress and then your L will make sense. It'll. They'll have a. It'll have a role because they are going to get the L if they play the Toronto Raptors. And it very well could happen for. For the eighth seed, baby. Right now. Right now. You know, let's say the Sixers are healthy. It would be rap Sixers in one matchup in the plan. Hawks, Hornets in the other one. So you could see the wraps. Yeah, actually, no. The Hornets are gonna beat the Hawks. I take that back. Either way. Either way. Wraps are not at the bottom of the pyramid.
D
Well, yeah, they are.
A
Well, like at the bottom corner of the pyramid. They're at the bottom. Yes, but not at the. The bottom. Bottom, bottom.
D
Great pyramid work. If you enjoyed those two segments yesterday, today you hit that like button, you subscribe, you say something nice to Trey Kirby in the comments. You say, good coloring, good color.
B
Young boy, you did a good job on that project.
A
Give him a sticker.
D
That's your sticker that you're giving.
B
I got to use the, like, the maroon pen for the Cleveland Cavaliers. First time I've uncapped that one.
D
These were. These were pens.
B
These were not pencil crayons, like a felt tip marker. Oh, yeah.
D
They almost look on the screen to me like pencil crayons, but okay. Maybe the scan job you got A good scanner at home?
B
I don't know. Oh, I have a scanner.
D
I do too.
B
And I don't.
D
I don't. I don't have a good one though. It does its part, but it's not good.
B
I. I probably have an entry level scan.
D
Yeah, I do. For sure. You probably. We got a nice scanner at home. Just cuz Danny maybe would have it for DPIs. I feel like you got a better one than me.
A
No, I don't.
D
Stop bragging about your scanner, man. Jesus.
B
This guy's always.
D
Never shuts up about his documents I copied, right?
A
Yeah.
D
Of the night sponsored by Trey Mouder, who wrote in. Here's to Bam's 83 points and 20 years for the podcast. Thank you, Trey. Really appreciate that sponsoring woboy. Here a couple nominees. Desmond Bain, great game. 35 filled up the box square. DeMar DeRozan had a great game. Awesome game for the Kings. He was in under consideration. Consideration. But Kawhi Leonard gets it. 45 points in the Clippers win. Very efficient. The Aimbot as we call them. 15A 26 and 9 from deep. 9 to 10 at the line. 5 rebounds, 5 assists and he had 2 steals. He did all this in 32 minutes too.
A
Was this more impressive than Bam Adebayo's 83 points?
B
No, it was a little bit more than half as impressive.
A
Okay, whatever.
B
45 divided by 83.
D
Will you be doing worse of the week tomorrow on the Drop podcast? Well, I asked because I'm wondering if any of the Bam discourse will make worst of the week because there were some pretty insane takes, in my opinion.
A
Oh yeah, that's the NBA. Just curious fandom for you. Yeah, yeah, sure. Okay.
D
Pick them tonight. I'm two and six. Task six and two. Trey five and three. Where are we going?
A
We're going to OKC where Boston is visiting. It feels like we have a potential finals preview every single night in the NBA. They're emulating the NFL late in the season. You know, just some good scheduling right there. Okc favored by big one. Six and a half. Feels big.
D
Feels big. Who's not playing for the Celtics for that line to be that big?
A
Tatum and Derek White are considered questionable.
D
Okay, that makes a little more sense if they don't.
A
Tatum, you know, it's conditioning. It's also his right Achilles. Conditioning for his Achilles. So you know, Derek White, his knee. Pritchard should be back. Vuch is out as. As we know.
B
Jalen's like this then.
A
Yeah, for sure. Maybe they saw Vuch Jr. As you call him on the Washington Wizards. Tristan Vukovich get destroyed by Bayman Bio Hartenstein and Jaylen Williams are out. So that's why.
D
So Chet's back.
A
Seems big Chad's back.
B
He was out with an illness, I think for their last game.
A
Yeah. Yeah, he should be back, I imagine.
D
Well, I got the thunder, but they got to win by seven. And you guys are teaming up here once again taking the Celtics and the points.
B
Yeah, like those points.
D
This is. This is a top of the pyramid game. I just realized.
B
Wow. Pyramid versus pyramid.
D
That's cool. Very, very cool. Pharaoh. We'll be into this one.
B
Yeah, they'll be watching
D
the Pharaoh. Would that be a cool nickname for a guy?
B
Yeah, that'd be really cool.
D
We're in the era of no dogs where we say something, we go. That'd be a cool nickname. Would be a cool doctor Sauce. I saw like you had some fun on. On social media and people suggesting guys that could be Dr. Sauce.
B
A lot of votes for Jared McCain.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
I don't love it.
D
I like Keonte George as Dr. Sauce. Okay.
B
George Sauce something.
D
I like that. Why not Fit him for some reason, the way he plays to me.
A
But like the game. Like his on court game.
D
Yeah, a little bit.
A
There was Kyrie Irving thrown out there. You know, guys can't handle. Yeah.
D
But you almost need. We need a like a newer player I feel like to bestow Dr. Sauce on. Yeah. Like a new Uncle Drew ain't gonna suddenly be a doctor. It's too late to go to schooling.
B
Yeah. It's never too late to learn. Kyrie Irving seems like a lifelong. I'll say that. But we would like to. To get in early on a Kyrie Irving for a doctor Sauce. Whoever the next guy is.
D
I think we're good. Here's what I'm going to say. I'm going to call this right now. We are going to find our Dr. Sauce this postseason.
B
Great.
D
Because that's when you make a nickname.
B
That's the mission.
D
Right. That is a good mission. I did say you weren't here, so I'm going to say this dumb idea I had. I told Trey before we went live because we were talking about Jared McCain. Wouldn't be cool if he hit a three right. And then with his. I think he's right handed. So he shoots a three and then he throws out the three like this. And then he goes for the podcast listener. I am painting my three nails on the three ball because he's always painting his nails.
A
Yeah.
D
Everybody doing that.
B
He has his own polish.
D
I think that's a pretty good celebration.
B
Yep.
D
Try it out.
A
It's pretty good.
D
Somebody tell Jared we should be consultants. Hey, schlecht, tell Jared McCain he needs to paint his nails after a three pointer.
B
NBA Branding Consultants, we'll give you nicknames. We'll give you celebrations. Yeah, they might be bad, but we'll
A
give them to you.
D
We got a million ideas.
A
He's got all of the celebrations, man. He pulls them not on the court, but on the top dances. Yeah, he was doing it with Richard Jefferson. Impressing him. Impressing everybody.
D
No buffs. Episode three of Survivor 50 coming up later today, 1pm Eastern. We go live over on no bus on YouTube feed, its own podcast feed, so make sure you subscribe to that. Perfect time to get in. Bit of a tribe swap early.
A
Oh.
D
It's in the hands of the fans and they want chaos. So, yeah, we switched it up last night. We'll talk about that. How these teams or tribes broke down and what happened and who went home. And Jeff Pros was rapping TAs. I don't know if you caught last night's episode, but, oh, yeah. One of the cringiest moments in Survivor history, and that is saying something. Jeff Probst, he literally asked everybody before setting up a challenge. He goes, hey, hey, can I get a little snap?
A
Oh, no.
D
Everybody start doing this.
A
That's why JD Shared the snap.
D
And then he rapped. Yeah, a little boom bap. It was something.
A
And they aired it.
D
It was something. And they aired it. And they aired it. That's a great point. It wasn't live. They could have taken it out. He's like, put that in. That's good stuff right there. So we'll talk about that and a whole lot more. We always have a blast breaking down Survivor with Nora here in the classic factory. So join us again, 1pm Eastern. Otherwise, we're back tomorrow. It's Friday. It's the drop. I assume we'll talk a little Celtics Thunder if the, you know, game lives up to the hype and whatever else happens. But we're also going to do our NBA Oscars. We've done this for a couple years running now. Best, you know, best highlight, best supporting actor, best player, stuff like that. Well, you know, an NBA spin on the Oscars, which are this weekend. And I want to hear from TK And JD And Taz, too, But, like, your opinions on the actual Oscar race, especially best picture with the 10 nominees. Yeah, yeah.
B
We were talking best picture at the dinner table last night for the girls. And I was using as a way to say, what's your favorite movie you've seen in the past year? And then they were asking about the real Oscars and they're like, well, what's going to win? I was like, well, it's between one battle after another and sinners.
D
Yeah.
B
So they asked what it was about and I gave the worst explanations. I was like, it's about legacy. It's about the failures of revolutionary politics and what we leave to our children. And they're like, I lost track of what you were saying at it.
D
Yeah.
B
It's about a dad finding his daughter and vampires.
D
Yeah. Those are the two movies. Yeah.
B
That much more straightforward.
D
All right, Well, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the movies and our NBA Oscars. We'll go through nominees and who we pick and all that. Always have a fun show doing that. So join us tomorrow at 10am Eastern. Till then, Clipper Bros. You heard it here first. Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys.
B
Awesome.
A
Thanks for joining us. And remember, the 5 second backdown rule in the NBA still exists. Happened last night. Alpern Shen Good. Got called for putting his butt into a guy for five seconds. Can't do that.
D
It is. That is one of his moves. It's been a while. Started the three point line.
B
Yeah. He would kind of be the guy
D
that would think I was. I don't remember it, but I was going to guess, but I'm glad it was him. Okay, good. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Embrace the day people.

No Dunks – “Kawhi Aimbot Activated, Magic Rising & East Pyramid Rankings”
March 12, 2026 | iHeartPodcasts
Hosts: J.E. Skeets, Tas Melas, Trey Kirby, JD
In this lively and insightful episode, the No Dunks crew recaps a busy NBA night featuring headline performances from Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic, and Desmond Bane. The hosts analyze key games and unveil their carefully debated Eastern Conference Pyramid Rankings for 2026, stirring up debate over tiers, team potential, and playoff readiness. The episode is peppered with hearty banter, memorable moments, and characteristically sharp basketball analysis.
“Kawhi has been on another level… He should get MVP votes, like fifth. He should be on the first team.” — Trey Kirby (06:19)
“Kawhi’s scary when he’s in Terminator Mode or Aimbot Mode.” (08:46)
“Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s done for the season… Get him ready for next year.” — Trey Kirby (28:21)
“Banchero looks like the game has slowed down for him… another guy.” — Tas Melas (34:06)
“Maybe the Clippers medical staff deserves some awards. I mean, Kawhi looks extremely healthy.” — Tas (08:58)
“This is different with Kawhi… not your normal play-in team.” — Skeets (07:27)
“This team has no fight. It’s pretty embarrassing… leadership, not a bump, not a shot.” — Skeets (17:51)
“‘Most teams in playoffs are good… if they’re there, that’s going to be a problem.’” — Skeets (51:00)
“They’ve taken out two of their starters and gotten better. That’s weird.” — Trey (37:33)
“They win the fun new team at the dance award… not going to get swept.” — Tas (47:16)
“Team Ifman, the Philadelphia 76ers. If Maxey’s healthy, if Embiid is healthy, if Paul George is healthy…” — Trey (52:51)
“No more ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ team than the Cavs.” — Skeets (59:23)
“If you can draw a triangle half shaded, guess what? You can draw a landscape.” — Trey (75:25)

The episode balances serious in-depth basketball discussion with the hosts’ signature wit and camaraderie. The focus is heavy on team identity, chemistry, and the weird edge cases that emerge this late in the NBA season. There’s frequent self-deprecating humor around pyramid drawings, “fake name” players, and the nuances of abbreviation conventions.
Listeners are left with a clear sense of both where the league stands and how “vibes and fight” down the stretch (and into the playoffs) mean as much as raw win-loss records. The Clippers—and Kawhi Leonard’s form—are considered game-changers. Raptors fans are cautioned against having hope. The Magic, Hornets, Heat, and Hawks’ stories are framed as the most intriguing among the East’s second-tier squads.
This summary captures the heart, energy, and analysis of a loaded No Dunks episode—an engaging listen for any NBA fan navigating this season’s home stretch.
