D
Podcast listeners. This is for you.
A
Next to him is my top shot
C
hot boy, Trey Kirby Ayo.
E
Hey yo.
A
And over yonder making the magic happen, super producer JD Hello. There he is. And we got a special gu joining us off the top this morning. You're going to hear his name called next Tuesday night early during the NBA draft is Houston Cougars point guard Kingston Flemings. Kingston, good morning.
E
Good morning. Thanks for having me.
A
Appreciate you joining us here. I'm sure these last couple of weeks and months have been a little bit crazy. You've had the draft combine, you've had the workouts, the interviews, the media. What do you plan on doing your final weekend as a non NBA player? Anything lined up here this weekend?
E
Yeah, I mean tomorrow, tomorrow I leave to go to to New York. So after that when I'm down there, just get ready for the draft, do anything I can do down there and just get ready to hear my get prepared to get my name called and
A
talk to us about that Tuesday night. Like what emotions are going through you right now. That's the first part. And then do you have the suit and everything, the fits all ready to go on Tuesday night?
E
Yeah, gotta have a suit. I would've got the suit this late. That's Crazy. Yeah, but I got the suit down. I mean, Tuesday. I'm just excited for it. I mean, I gym this as a kid, so I mean, being there, being in a green room, hearing my name called is gonna be surreal.
A
Do you want to tease us at all with the suit? Either the color or any accessories? Like, what are we talking here?
E
It's just like she's a calm suit. I mean, no, see on draft day.
A
Okay, Okay. I had to ask you though, for sure.
C
How competitive has like the pre draft process been for? Because you know, you're trying to prove yourself and what you're going to bring to these teams, but you're also trying to show that you're better than everybody else that's in the draft as well. Guys you've played against, I'm sure for a long, long time. What's that like going through this process?
E
Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think just going to every single workout with the killer mindset, you know, trying to do the best you can, you know, whether it's a group workout, you're playing other people, or a solo workout, you know, doing the best you can to impress these coaches. At the end of the day, it's just kind of trying to prove yourself right, you know, the work you've put in to get to this point. I mean, everyone here in this job has put a lot of work in. They wouldn't be otherwise. So just doing that every single time you're on the court and hopefully you get a good draft choice.
A
There is a lot of point guard depth in this year's NBA draft and you know, probably the most we've seen in several cycles here. I guess five of the top eight prospects, including yourself, lead guards at the next level. What's the Kingston Flemings like? Elevator pitch. As to why Team X should take you over all these other talented guys like Acuff and Wagler and so on. What do you sort of say in these?
E
I think just winning and then adaptability. I mean, I think there's a lot of different teams in the NBA, but I think you put me on any team, I can adapt to how they play and put my game in that way. So I mean, I get two feet in the paint, like the best of them get two feet, draw two. So you're never gonna be able to guard me with one guy. So I'm gonna create, I'm gonna create offense for a lot of our people.
D
My teammate, you're being compared to de' Aaron Fox, other speedy guys like John Morant. I'm not saying that to ask you who you should be compared to. I'm asking that bring that up to ask you, do you despise being compared to NBA players? Like do you just want to say like I'm Kings Flemings, you know, dude, do you hate it?
E
No, I wouldn't say I despise it. I mean I think it's kind of, it's hard to compare two players. I feel like no one really plays truly the same. You kind of compare more off like people compare off measurements but, or like athletic ability but everyone thinks the game different. So it's kind of hardly hard to get a direct comparison. But I mean I've been been compared to great names so yeah, definitely excited for that.
D
Yeah.
A
Yeah. Task mentioned a couple I've, you know, Maxi's been thrown around Tyrese Halliburton. I can sort of see some similarities in your game or some of your skill sets. Who's your favorite point guard of all time though? Who do you like?
E
Yeah, Derek Rose. Yeah, that's why I wore number one. And yeah, that's for sure my favorite point.
C
When you're in these like group workouts, you're playing against these other draft prospects, are there anybody that's like stuck out to you but like, oh, wow, I didn't know you had that in your game.
E
I mean I kind of expected everyone to be pretty good. I mean I've played against these guys, I've watched them play in college. So I mean just going out there and competing really for sure. But I mean all of them have shown different talents in good ways. So I mean it's a really talented draft and I'm excited to see where everyone goes.
A
Is there anything, Kingston, that you've read or seen about your game from these like so called draft experts that you think they have wrong or they're just like off base on what they're sort of talking about or writing about. When it comes to your game, when
E
you look at the draft experts or whatever they, I mean they kind of, they don't really know everything. I mean they don't know how much work we put in. They don't know what we do good. They don't know what our teams wanted us to do. So I mean they're looking at us on a play as a player on that. But I think my shooting ability, I think I'm a really good shooter and people kind of talk down on my shooting ability a little bit. But it's, it's fine. I don't really care because I mean I go out there and I, I score, I do what I need to do. So I probably say shooting ability.
A
Yeah, yeah, I've seen that for sure by these so called draft experts. But that was like more of like a high school knock and then the numbers were pretty damn impressive at Houston and I just don't. Why wouldn't that continue to translate? Because it's from what I've seen and read about you, bit of a gym rat as well. And this idea of just trying to like work on your game every season for sure.
C
What'd you learn in your year at Houston?
E
Yeah, I mean, I think it's just, I mean, putting your head down, hard work for sure. But control the controllables. I mean there's a lot of thing in life, there's a lot of thing in basketball you can't control. So I mean, just doing what you can to do the best you can whenever you're on the court. So if I, if I'm leading my team, if I'm leaving myself in a good way, people are most likely to follow. You know, some people won't. But again, just control what you can control.
A
Kingston Fleming's joining us from San Antonio here this morning. Can you talk a little bit about training with George Hill, obviously former NBA player, great NBA player.
E
Yeah. I mean, George helped me a lot down here in San Antonio. I mean, working out. He texted me, he just texted me the other day, you know, just congratulating me about the whole process kind of being over and getting to the draft. So I mean, it's been, it's been really helpful. I mean, a guy that's been in the NBA for a long time, you know, it's not easy to do that. So having him be down here and help me was definitely, it was definitely great.
C
Did you grow up a Spurs fan?
E
I didn't grow up a Spurs fan. I mean, I was a fan of basketball. I didn't have a team growing up. But like I said, I was a D. Rose fan. So I really like, I really like players. I like players a lot more than just teams.
A
Right, right. I've heard in a couple interviews you mention how teams have like recommended. All right, Kingston, you got to get stronger. Right. You know, you got to maybe bulk up, whatever to take like on the grueling NBA. Is there a game plan? I'm always fascinated, like a game plan to like trying to gain weight and bulk up. Is that something like you and your team is like approaching now or does that just come as you get older?
E
Yeah, I Mean, you definitely approach it now. I mean, I think it'll be easier, you know, being in the NBA. I mean, they got a lot more resources, they got a lot more research into it. But I mean, again, it starts now for sure. I mean, the work starts before you get there. We can't start when I get to the NBA. So, I mean, yeah, just continuously working on getting stronger, you know, learn how to use my body in a better way just so I can, you know, last 82 games and be an effective player.
A
Do you have any, like, vices when it comes to food? Like, I picture you just trying to gain weight, like eating ice cream nonstop or something like that. So what's going on?
C
It's just.
E
It's just like the times you got to eat. You got to eat like a time of the day sometimes. Like, you only like the food sometimes. You know, you just got to. Just got to get down and just go eat it.
D
Yeah, fair enough.
E
Fair enough.
C
It can't be all basketball all the time. So what do you do away from the court? Like to keep calm during a stressful process like this or when you just want to chill out?
E
Yeah, I mean, I think video games for sure. I mean, I play with my family. I mean, I'm down here in San Antonio, my family right now. So whenever I hang out with them, my friends, I like playing pickleball. I kind of learned to start playing pickleball when I was in Houston, so. So that I enjoy doing that. So those are some things for sure.
D
Well, if you get drafted by the Hawks, we love video games. And there's a pickleball player here, J.D. who plays all the time.
A
I was gonna say our producer perked up when you said pickleball, Kingston. He was like, oh, this is my guide out here.
F
Hell yeah.
A
What, what video games are we talking here?
E
Madden. I play 2K. I play Valerie Randall. Six Siege. When GTA 6 comes out, don't hold your breath.
A
You'll probably have three championship rings by the time that comes out.
E
Yeah, November. That's what I heard.
A
Okay, excellent. Anything else here for Kingston?
C
Has anybody asked you like a question that really took you aback during the pre draft process? Like, we hear stories about, you know, front offices asking players crazy questions, trying to get sort of the insight into their mindset. Has anything like that happen with you?
E
Yeah, I mean, while at the combine and we were meeting with teams, the team asked me if I could, if I could punch any person in the face, who would it be?
C
Did you have an answer or is that A pass?
E
N. I was a pass. I didn't really have an answer. I don't know.
C
Feels like a trick question for sure.
A
That's incredible. Over the last few years, I think we've seen a lot of rookies come into this league and they impact winning, like, sort of right away. I mean, look at Dylan Harper this year with San Antonio going to the finals. What skill sets, Kingston, do you have that you think could translate right away to like a. A winning basketball or to a team right away?
E
I think my ability to attack the paint, I mean, I think. I mean, the name of the game is creating advantages. So if I can attack the pain, you know, draw to and just make them have to help on me, it creates advantages for the rest of my team. So I think I make it. I make it much easier on my teammates when I'm on the court. And then defensive ability, I mean, I think being able to guard your position, you know, being. Being aggressive, being disruptive, you know, you can always. You can always play if you're a defender on the court. So I definitely say I was, too.
A
Who are you looking forward to playing against the most? Maybe guarding, trying to, like, shut down when you step onto an NBA court next season?
E
Yeah, I mean, all the players I saw growing up, I mean, obviously the players in my class, but you got. I mean, Tyrese Maxey, you know, Casey Wallace, Kate Cunningham, Fox Curry. I mean, all those Texas guys, for sure. I mean, Curry's not. But the rest, yeah, Texas guys. So I'm just. Just excited to watch. Watch him play against all of them. I mean, I grew up watching them, so it's gonna be crazy actually playing them.
A
And I know you'll not be able to actually answer this, but do you have a good idea of where you're going, you think on Tuesday night? Do you and your team have a feeling of we might be going to that squad? Like, promises, I guess, from some franchise.
E
I mean, you got to have an idea like your range. But I mean, anything can happen on draft now. I mean, trades happen crazy. Like, no one can really, like.
A
Oh, true.
E
Like, map out what the trades are going to be and things like that. So, I mean, you kind of have like an idea of your range, but literally happen on draft night. That's why it's so crazy.
C
It's going to be exciting once you get up there on the stage. Kingston, thank you so much for joining us. I don't know if anybody else got questions, but we're looking forward to Tuesday for you. We got a new Guy to root for.
F
Sure.
A
Yeah, man. Like, look, if, if the Hawks. The Hawks have the eighth pick right now, if Kingston Flemings is still on the board, we're going to be pissed if they don't take you guys. And look, you know, good luck, obviously, on Tuesday night. Enjoy it as much as you can. And yeah, don't be a stranger. Come on back to no dunks wherever you land.
E
I won't.
C
Thank you.
E
Thank you for having me.
A
All right, everybody on YouTube right now, hit the like button. Make sure you subscribe for Kingston Fleming's gonna be called. Yeah, look. Feeling like top 10 at least on Tuesday night. Can't wait to see where it is.
E
Hot.
D
Eight for the Hawks is hot.
A
Could be. Could be one of the spots. We will see. All right, we got tons still to get to here. A little bit later, we're gonna talk about our top 12 NBA free agents. Why 12? That's a weird Bill Simmons, like, number you're picking. Well, we're going to do a draft and do a couple rounds of drafting, you know, the most intriguing, maybe free agents and we'll discuss that. But we got to start with the Knicks celebrating their NBA title.
D
Yeah, you are. You were so excited for this.
A
I watched a lot of this.
D
You love the parade.
A
Well, it apparently brought every New Yorker there was out onto the streets.
D
Pretty busy.
A
I think they're saying, like close to 2 million people maybe were out there during normal working hours. I'd like to add nothing getting done in New York on Thursday, but the mayor spoke, the players spoke, Alicia Keys sang, For crying out loud. Did you have a favorite moment from, from the Knicks championship parade yesterday? There was a lot.
D
Listen, as somebody who enjoyed the parade for my team with the Toronto Raptors, I liked the dieheartedness of the Mayor Zoran mob. Danny, naming old Knicks. I mean, you got your, your Lance Thomas. He mentions Iman Shumpert. He mentions Tony Douglas when he tied the record for nine threes in a game in 2011, that he was in the upper bowl watching that game. So that was pretty neat. I mean, that's the same thing I did when the Raptors won a championship. I just named Derek Dial and every single guy in the past. So that was, that was pretty cool. I had to go back to see Tony Douglas at nine threes to tie. Yeah, well, I, I just wanted to make sure he said tied the record or got the record. But he did tie the record with Sprewell and Starks who did it. Since there's been guys who've passed Him. But I thought that was. Oh, that was a real, real Knicks player.
A
That was incredible.
D
Our Knicks fan, I should say.
F
Yeah.
D
As I love that the mayor of
A
New York City basically did a. What about this guy?
C
Yes. Just want to name guys. Yeah, they want.
A
And he was. He was knocking out of the park.
B
Yeah.
A
Just retracing the arc of the Knicks history. And then I thought he spun it nicely into the. What, the 96% sort of when they were, you know, I guess they had like a 0.4%, I should say.
F
Yeah.
A
To come back in that game for it. But anyway, that was. Yeah, it was pretty epic.
C
Lance Thomas was the one that got me too. I was like, wow, what a deep cut.
D
I mean, he did pronounce Iman Shumpert slightly incorrectly, but that's okay.
A
No one can do it like you.
D
No one can say Iman Shumpert like me. Yes.
F
But he.
D
He was literally up in the upper bowl watching Tony Douglas because he's been in the upper bowl recently. So he is a real fan. So, you know, the real ones, they get some love. But there are lots of real ones there yesterday. Lots of celebs.
A
Well, we got our answer. We got our answer to that. Would the celebs be involved in this parade? Yep, they were on every float. It felt like they sort of like sprinkled them around. Same with all the Knicks alum guys and stuff like that. What about yourself?
C
There was a lot to like, but I just love that who Let the Dogs Out Is becoming the official theme song of this Knicks team. Mike Brown was doing it like up with the Fans. Then he did it again once he actually got to the podium and gave his little bit of a speech. They even played the Baja Men. You could hear it in the background as well. Then Jalen Brunson comes up. He's like, I told him he's got to stop with that shit. He's never going to stop. No, it's going to be who let the dogs out? From now till the end of time when it comes to this team.
A
Do you think the Baja Men will perform on opening night next season? Ring night.
B
Wow.
C
I hadn't thought about it, but they should. They absolutely should.
A
I don't know how many of them will be available to come perform.
C
You can get one or two men. I think so. I think I like Tyler Colic getting busted by the cops because they thought he was just some dude.
D
Yeah, yeah.
C
And he looks like just some dude. He's also wearing a Knicks 1993 NBA championship.
A
Yeah.
C
T shirt. They didn't win the championship in 1993. That's pretty funny.
A
I think he got that from Mr. Throwback. He did, yeah.
D
Yeah. I think that may have been a dig at the governor of New York, who referred to the the Knicks as NBA champions in 1993. Maybe. I don't know.
C
Maybe, maybe.
D
Who knows? But luckily, it was quick. A stop by the police. Like, it wasn't long, right?
C
Just a quick stop and frisk.
D
Frisk. It was just like, hey, hey, don't go there. And then they got righted and they let him go. It wasn't a push like Masai Ujiri. It was just quick.
C
That's a little white guy. Is he an NBA player?
A
Oh, okay.
F
He is.
C
Then I saw there was a clip of Kolik on his Instagram live with the NBA cup trophy specifically. And he's like, this is my trophy. Because he actually helped out winning this one. He tells Brunson. He's like, you guys won that one. This is my trophy. Funny, I'm happy to see somebody really cares about the NBA Cup.
A
Yeah, I, I, I, I popped as well.
C
I heard, Nice, man.
A
I first saw somebody else had it and they were walking around the crowd like, oh, oh, my God, it's the cup. They respect it. Thank God. What else you got?
C
What else do we got? Josh Hart's wife thumbed as Jimmy Butler. That was pretty funny. These guys can't resist putting thumbs in each other's butts. Even the wives are involved in it.
D
Jalen, Brunson, Elmo, they're bumping and grinding for a while. Josh Hartness.
A
Yeah.
C
And then I saw, he tweeted afterwards. He's like, yeah, I got up in that tonight. He said, 10 weeks ago, I'm having sex for 10 weeks straight now. To cancel all that out, they put all the Knicks jersey numbers up on the building and they gave Dylan Jones number 33.
A
Yeah, that was a big whoops.
C
Whoops.
A
Apparently that 33 was on, like, NBA.com's like, roster page, like, incorrectly. It was fixed, but whoever made that probably went to said page. And then, yeah, I was like, oh, I guess he's number 33. But obviously that's Patrick Ewing's number number one, I think. Right. But it's also up there. It's like, you can't. I mean, it's there.
C
No, it is up there. He's the most famous 33 we've ever seen for the Knicks.
D
You just can't let go 33. When you think nicks, there's 33. So they know they screwed up. Not the name they screwed up. They just. We put 33 up at every. Every event. So let's put it up again.
C
Mitchell Robinson was driving himself in his truck.
A
Yep.
C
Pretty funny.
A
Yep, he was for a bit. And then he was in the back of the truck. Somebody took over.
C
Yeah.
A
Gave the keys to somebody else.
C
Yeah. I thought Cat looked cool.
A
Cat had a Jeff Hamilton on hat on the.
C
Jeff had on the champagne goggles as well. Had a cigar. Not just for the look. He lit it as well.
A
Right.
C
He was enjoying himself, and I was happy to see it for him.
B
Yeah.
D
Walking through City hall with. With the NBA championship trophy with Larry o' Brien and all the kids got to touch it. Yeah, that was a good move. Good move.
A
My only other note was, you know, we talked about the Knicks alumni base being out in full force, like Ewing and Starks Mellow and Alan Houston, like, all of them. They were basically, you know, again, they were sort of on a. Spread them out across a lot of. A lot of the floats. And they were on one in particular, but Clyde Frazier, who's the star point guard, Obviously, of the 70 and 73 championship teams, he led the parade. I thought that was very, very cool. In a 1952 Chrysler Imperial Parade Phantom. One of three ever built, apparently, these cars. And they keep one just for parades.
F
What?
C
Yeah, they built three of them, and one of them is strictly on parade duty.
D
Yes, exactly.
A
And that was Clyde, obviously, sitting in that. And I was just like. I mean, I really was like, that's pretty freaking cool that Clyde obviously stayed with the franchise, is beloved by the franchise, brought them titles in the 70s, and then they go 53 years without one. But he's there to experience it still. And I'm like, sort of like, that'd be like, you know, 50 years from now, basically, Kyle Lowry's like, in the parade. If The Raptors win 50 years from now, and it took that long, I was like, wow, that is pretty insane. Saying, a very cool moment. So that was my other final thought.
F
It was.
A
I mean, I watched a lot of it. They were having a blast. I don't know how the air quality was, but looked like it didn't affect anyone.
D
No, it looked okay.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah, it looked nice out.
A
It was a little rain, I think, at first, but at first seemed to clear up.
D
Yeah, it seemed all right now. You know, some people complaining that they didn't get to see a lot. Oh, yeah, some of that.
A
Well, they. They closed down, like, the viewing pens, as they call Them something like two or three hours before the parade even started. The NYPD were like, we're packed. Don't come. Of course, I didn't stop people from coming. And you're right. I think a lot of people, unfortunately couldn't. You just couldn't. Like the way they. The. Where they do it down that Broadway. You know, maybe that's a. It's obviously history and there's a reason they do it there, but it's probably not the best route for as many people as possible to see it because there's always like, pinch points and just like, people can't really get to it.
C
So.
A
Yeah, that part would suck.
D
Yes.
A
If you went down there.
D
Yeah. And then couldn't see and showing up and not being able to leave very much like New Year's Eve at Times Square, you know?
C
Yeah. Do you think people wearing diapers.
A
Wearing diapers? Wow.
D
I think so.
C
If you were there from 4am until the parade was over, you're gonna want a diaper.
D
Yeah.
A
I mean, there were some porta potties I saw. I don't know where they were dispersed.
D
Get a catheter if you can. It's not fun having a catheter.
A
But just stay home. At that point, just watch it on T tv.
C
People were convinced Michael Bridges was in a Dear and Fox jersey. And I was like, ooh, that's a. That's a serious troll. It was. It's just a Paco jersey that he turned around backwards so that people realized it wasn't just a Dear and Fox New York Knicks jersey, which you've seen going around on the Internet. But guess what? He picked four for a reason. I mean, it wasn't a Fox jersey, but it was a Fox jersey.
A
Okay. And his dog was there.
C
His dog was there.
A
His son. Excuse me, his son. He calls his dog his son. And I can respect it. Sunny.
C
Really?
A
Yes.
F
Good.
A
So they had a blast. And yeah, you can go check out all the highlights, of course, on NBA.com. anything else? All right, let's take a break and when we come back, we'll Talk free

From the show last night to this drive, why is it never chill?
D
Because this is our live backstage on the road. It's loud, messy, real.
A
And that's the best part. Whole crew, no plan, just moving. Good thing Nissan builds for that kind of chaos.
D
Not just test tracks, real life scenes, late nights, road trips, all of it.
A
That's why it holds up. Nissan was ranked number one in initial quality among mainstream brands by J.D. power. Yeah, you can tell. 2026 Nissan Rogue. Built for what really happens for J.D.

All right.
D
Excellent.
A
Excellent.
C
What would you do if somebody just texted you the words Flo Baligan?
A
I'm not sure.
F
Huh.
C
Question mark. Reaction.
D
How about that Canada win? Huh?
A
How about that Canada win? First win ever in World cup history for Canada.
D
That's cool.
A
Six nil.
D
Very cool.
A
Unfortunately, the one guy broke his leg, that was the not cool part.
D
Ishmael Kone. Yeah, not cool. That was very, very, very unfortunate.
A
But, yeah, team. Team was racking up goals and chances of going on to the. To the knockout stage.
E
Looking good.
A
I think we just got to draw Switzerland. Yeah, that's it.
C
Yeah.
D
I was enjoying yesterday's games. I saw Krechi, not vite for the Czech Republic stop a goal centrally. I mean, as a defender, I was really. Nice move. Although they were saying on the BBC broadcast that the lights in the Mercedes Benz stadium, also known as the Atlanta Stadium during the World cup, can get in the eyes of people. And so there was an opportunity with a minute into the game, and they're basically saying, yeah, the lights here kind of throw guys off because the. The player wasn't able to receive it. He didn't receive it on his chest. Well. And so he kind of messed up because the lights.
A
Blaming the lights.
D
The BBC broadcasters blaming the lights immediately, the minute in. And then they say as soon as the hydration breaks happen, they. They say, oh, no, this isn't the game. I love. This is not the game. I love calling it out immediately. Although they don't go to commercial on the BBC. They just.
A
Telemundo doesn't either.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Only.
A
Only the old, good old Fox broadcast goes to commercial.
D
Does this happen just during the World Cup? These hydration breaks?
C
This is the first World cup that's ever happened. Right?
A
Yeah. Yeah. But like in other games, you're saying, I thought there was a thing if the temperature was over a certain degree, that maybe they used to do it. I don't know. I mean, I'm talking to my ass a little bit, but this mandatory every game. Yeah, I think like Trey said. Yeah, definitely a first for this. Hydration breaks.
E
Yeah.
A
Okay, it's enough football talk for now. I'm sure we'll have more a little bit later when we get to rapid fire. But NBA free agency, let's be honest, it ain't what it used to be, boys. And you can thank the past several CBAs for that. But there are still plenty of interesting players on the market. So we're going to go through some of the top free agents this off season and we're going to draft either like the best available players or the most interesting is another way to look at it. Unrestricted free agents, restricted free agents, players with player options, players with team options. I think they're all eligible here. Open. Open floor. Quick trivia question, though, to decide who picks first. It's becoming the favorite part for me just seeing if you guys know these trivia questions. Okay, so it's just going to be between you two guys here.
D
JD's not picking.
A
JD's not picking. No.
D
He's not picking kicks and flying Flemings because Kingston loves pickleball. You just. You would just be picking him.
C
Pickler.
A
One of the biggest free agency moves over the last five seasons was the Knicks signing Jalen Brunson in the summer of 2022 to a four year deal. With this season now in the books. 25, 26. So I'm including it. How much money has Brunson made in his career? Okay, so one of you can set the line and the other can go over under. Who wants to take a stab at it? Maybe there's some strategy even to where you set the line. You know what? I'm gonna go with you, Trey. You're gonna get to set the line and then TAS will decide if it's over or under. Unless you nail it. Exactly.
D
Okay. To the dollar.
A
To the dollar.
B
Yes.
A
Okay, this is according to basketball reference. Okay.
C
197 million.
A
Okay.
C
Dollars.
A
Okay.
D
I think it's way under that. I'm not wrong. It's under.
A
That is your.
D
Yeah.
A
Prediction.
D
Yeah. It's 150ish, something like that.
A
You're correct to go under 120 million is what he has now made. Obviously he has more coming. That's going to get you closer to what Trey's saying. But I'm not including that because he's made dollars in his bank account is what I was looking for.
D
Because he's made the four years that he signed with the the Knicks for, which is 105. I don't know what did it end up being? 108. Okay.
A
Plus he has just made over just over $120 million. When you include this last paycheck obviously for the season. All right. Tasks. That means you have the number one pick. Trey, you're going second. I'll go third.
D
Right.
A
How about it?
D
Oh yes.
A
Who you drafting?
D
These free agents available. I mean LeBron stands out at the top. He stands out as number one. Am I going with him because I'm just partial to LeBron James? Yeah, yeah, I'll take LeBron off.
A
Okay.
D
This is going to be so interesting as to where he goes because it sure feels like it ain't going to be la, but is it to me
A
you don't think so?
C
Wind Horse is saying yeah, he thinks it'll be la.
D
Yeah.
C
I thought that was surprising.
D
Yeah, that is surprising to me. Just because if to at this point it feels like there's. He's going to give it one more shot, one more year and is he going to do it in LA where it's unlikely at this point. If you say I'm signing in la, that that team is a contender at all, period. So I would think he takes. I'm going to go on a limb and say he takes the non taxpayer mid level exception way cheaper than he deserves. Like super, super, super cheap. Yeah, like a fourteen million dollar contract like essentially nothing for him in comparison to everything he's made. Is it Cleveland? I mean that is even a reach to me at this point. I don't think he goes back, but maybe there's another situation that he sees one year championship run. He signs that mid level exception for a one year plus a player option when he can say, okay, I'm not coming back if we win or I'm done kind of thing. So I see that as, as the possibility.
A
But you think going to Cleveland helps his chances to win a title more than just staying with Luca and the Lakers?
D
Yeah, I think so. I think so depend the Lakers or what are the Lakers going to be?
C
Yeah, I mean I think there's a better chance Cleveland makes the finals than the Lakers.
D
Yeah, yeah, it's, it's your. You're playing against whether it's the Spurs, Thunder, whoever, but yes, I think The Cleveland has a better. Better hope.
A
Well, the guy's still good. Incredibly. I mean, exactly. An all star in his 23rd season, and he averaged 26 and seven for a third straight year. So he basically still feels ageless here.
D
Yeah, very good.
A
Lakers can offer him up to anything, up to his max. I mean, we don't think it'll be a max because they have other things to do here, but. Yeah. Will or would LeBron compromise to return to LA? That's. That's the other part. Just like, what's the dollar figure?
D
Yeah. I could be wrong. And I guess there's a chance that he signs and then sees how the first few months go and could be okay being traded. It seems odd to say LeBron's being dealt here at 42 years old. So I think he'll pick. I think he'll pick where he deems it.
A
And if you're a bet, man, you don't think it'll be a lie.
D
Yeah, that's my. That's my guess right now. You know, I think he likes to take chances. This would be taking a chance. This would be very different than what he's done for a long time. But it's very hard. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe wrong. Maybe they have. If they're able to add pieces around him and Luca, then it's a different conversation. But, I mean, that seems like a reach, especially in today's cba.
C
Yeah, they need a lot. The Lakers do. They got swept by the Thunder and they didn't even make the Finals. So Lakers are far away off, but it's hard to imagine, like, LeBron on. There's only three teams I can really imagine him on. The Cavs, the Lakers, and the Warriors.
D
Yeah.
F
Yeah.
C
I was playing with Steph.
A
Yeah.
D
Yes. Yeah.
A
Trying to picture them anywhere else is very tough.
C
Yeah.
D
Yeah.
C
Like, we're not seeing LeBron play for the Pistons, I don't think.
D
No, no. It would be the Warriors. Exactly. If it's not the Cavs. But even then, they're not a championship team. As soon as they sign Brahms, they're an interesting team. Yeah.
A
It sort of just comes down to, like, how much he truly cares at this of, like, competing for another title.
D
Yeah.
A
Like, he's chasing, obviously, MJ's ghost and all that, but, you know, you'd have to win a couple to obviously even get to that level. And it's like, he might just be like, he loves living in la. All he does is golf now. It feels like son is on the goddamn Team, you know, he might just like, you know, I'll just run this back and whatever the compromise is on the contract, we'll see. Unrestricted free agent.
F
Okay.
A
LeBron off the board. Good one. You have the Next pick here, T.K.
C
yeah, LeBron, the number one pick. To me, he's probably. I mean, he's probably still the best player that's going to be a free agent in the. That's crazy. He's 41 years old. If LeBron was like 38 years old and he was 21, 6 and 7. What he is like. Yeah, you'd be thinking that's a steal for the mid level exception.
D
Oh, yeah.
C
I mean, I don't believe.
A
I don't think. I don't know.
C
He's been underpaid on every single contract he's ever had, so why would that discontinue at this point? My guy I'm choosing, though, he just declined an option and became a free agent. That's surprising. Trae Young now suddenly a free agent for the Washington Wizards. Though there is is a semi expectation that he will still be back with the Wizards. We've heard of some of their negotiations and the offers that they've presented to him, but now that the Heat consider him a potential backup plan, it kind of seems like Trey Young's representation hit the gas on. Wait a second. He still might be a max player here or at least trying to extract a little bit more money out of the Wizards. So I think most likely he ends up back with the Wizards. But at least compared to the beginning of this week, it feels like Trey Young is in play for other teams now, and he's still good. Like, he barely played at all this season, but Trey Young is still a productive player when he plays. I don't know how far he can necessarily take you, but the Wizards are trying to take the very first step going forward, so they don't really care. So I'm curious if a team is going to try and go over the top of Washington and lure Trae Young away after playing a handful of games.
A
Yeah. Unrestricted free agent now. Widespread expectation when he did get traded to Washington, though, was he was just going to sign an extension. Like it was going to be. You know, there was a lot of Talk of like, three years, 120 million, three years, 130 million, let's say, which would be less than obviously that player option that he turned down. But yeah, now there's all this buzz of these other teams that are maybe or maybe not like, going to strike out on Giannis or pivot from Yanis, like, whatever. I'm with you, TK. I think he stays in Washington here and this was just probably smart, smart work by him and his team here to drum up maybe. I don't know whether it's real interest or not, but to get more dollar values out of this deal, this extension. But I think he's staying there. He is still a one man offensive engine. He just is now a lot of, obviously, liability on the defensive end and how far can you really go with him as your main guy? But the guy's damn good at setting up teammates and scoring. I mean, he's third all time in assists. He trails Magic Johnson and John Stockton, like, career sis.
C
Per game?
A
Per game?
C
Yeah, yeah.
A
I mean, it's like nearly 10 per game. It's not nothing. So I think it's.
C
Yeah, he had. He has the ball 100% of the time.
A
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
C
So, like, he is an offense to himself, but if Trey Young is your offense to himself, your offense is okay.
A
Yeah, but okay might be good in Washington.
D
Totally.
A
Yeah.
C
Washington. I don't care if Washington maxes them out, right. They have nothing. They're. They're starting from the very bottom and trying to make a pretty significant jump just to get into the play and tournament. I'm talking about other teams, like if, if the clippers offer him $200 million, just a random team, like it matters more for them. I think Washington, you're happy for him to sop up every possession and every
D
dollar max out for Trey, you'd say you'd be okay with them saying, we'll give you the max, man, because they don't have anybody really signed up essentially other than. Other than young players. It's interesting to see how much he gets because the critics will say turning down 49, it's a lot.
A
Oh, my God.
D
But, but in this market right here, right now, we're taking them in our draft pretty high. So maybe that this is the time for him to be a free agent. So that's understandable. We'll see who. Who bids, you know, a few years for 100 mil max, I think. I mean, I, you know, it depends if there's a team that's. If it's the heat that say, somehow we're giving them the money that we would be giving to Giannis at this time, that kind of thing. Like paying him more than anyone else would pay him, I imagine.
A
Well, what do you think he's going to make per year?
D
Yeah, like 33 no more.
A
Way more.
D
I don't know.
A
I think way more.
D
And today, in today's NBA, I guess,
A
I guess I don't think you're turning down 49 if you're not even coming somewhat close to it. Obviously the years will be at.
D
I, Yeah, I think it'll be more. Yeah, maybe I'm wrong.
A
All right, my first pick, you guys took unrestricted free agents. I'll take our first restricted free agent. I'll take Jalen Durham. Okay. He can make up to 30% of the cap. That would be 287.1 million across five years from Detroit. But after that disastrous playoff performance where I think we said he was dropping coins like he was Sonic the Hedgehog after each game, he's going to lose a lot of money. And you know, I guess in a weird way that could be great for Detroit here. Oddly looking at it like a discount because I saw Bobby Mark stinks. He's looking at probably like 5 year 180 million. Now. That's a hell of a drop off if you know, he had played at an elite level in the playoffs and we're like, oh yeah, Max guy, no doubt. I mean he's not there and you shouldn't do that. So I don't know what it will be. I think he's staying with Detroit. But he did have the third largest scoring decrease by an all Star from the regular season to the playoffs in NBA history. It was bad. We were there, we watched every minute of it and it was rough. But he is still a good player and you're just hoping that was, you know, get that out of your system type thing and obviously continue to grow. He's still young and he was important to a bunch of regular season wins. So I don't know what number you have in mind. You think Jalen Duran or even the idea of obviously a team trying to
C
get him, he's probably a $40 million player. And I think other teams would offer Jalen Duran because like you're saying he's young, he is still good. It wasn't good in the playoffs, it wasn't good in the playoffs last year, but. But guess what? The regular season matters as well. And he was a great regular season player. And also Detroit has literally no way to replace him. So they're going to have to match basically anything a team offers him. Otherwise they don't have any sort of center option outside of Duran. So I don't know. I think he's still good. He just, he just looked bad in that Series. It happens.
D
Yeah. I think the ballpark is. Yeah, about 200.
A
Yeah.
D
For the five. So exactly 40. Something like that will happen.
A
Well, and again, I mean, this could work out for in Detroit's favor in a weird way, him having a pretty crappy playoff performance where you're like, okay, well, I don't know about Max. Max.
D
Yeah.
A
You know, you save money and help your team be able to grow and add a player or two.
D
So it was a little roller coaster. Makes the all NBA team. He can now make 30%, which is a lot of money, as you said. And then there was a value.
A
Gives it all back.
B
Yeah.
A
All right. Jalen Duran, it sounds like we all agree that he will be staying though,
D
probably with Detroit, I think. So they might. They might slow play it and give somebody else a contract offer before they give it to Duran, just so they can squeeze somebody in to be that third option on that team. Because they need one. Tobias Harris is a free agent. Kevin Herder's a free agent. Not that he was high on the list on their roster, but that's a lot of money coming off the books. So it may squeeze in a wing A Wiggins, perhaps. We'll see what he.
F
They need.
D
They need somebody there. So before they give it to Jalen, they may give it to some. Gives part of it to somebody else.
A
All right, you have your next pick here. Fourth overall.
D
Wow, this is tough. This is tough because how are we. How are we picking guys? For me, I'm just picking talent, hope, potential here rather than a lot of established players. I'm going way down the list. I'm paying Peyton Watson, some big guy.
A
I mean, I have them. I have them high on my list. Maybe not this high, but okay, yeah, give me a reason.
D
I mean, he's a perfect modern player. The guy is super young. He's a great defender, and offensively he looks spectacular. When Jokic was out, we know he was really, really good. 22 points per game, but overall this season he was just really good too. This is his coming out party in year number four. I think they've slow played it perfectly. He was there for the championship when he barely played, but now he was 49 from the floor, 41 from 3. 11 shots per game against the defense. I would put him up against to guard any, any incredible player on the, you know, the best player on the other side because he's that good. He did get hurt. Scary. But I'd be overpaying. I think the Nuggets are going to overpay. I Mean or match because he is a restricted free agent. Whatever, somebody else is going to overpay. So I'll take Peyton Watson, hope the bot is okay, hope he's healthy. But TBD on that we shall see. But I like the potential and again he just, he's. He's got the legs to be able to run forever. And so I think it fits. Fits well.
A
Thoughts on Peyton Watson here.
C
I wonder if he's gettable just because the Nuggets are kind of a cheap franchise and they seem to be very money conscious with most of the moves they make during the off season. That's why The Michael Porter Jr. Trade went down last summer. They paid Christian Brown not encouraging his first year after signing a big deal because it seemed like at the time we're choosing between Brown and Watson. At that time Brown was ahead of Watson. He's a starter on the championship team. He regressed a little bit this year whereas Watson took a step forward. It's bad for the Nuggets to lose him, but I'm not totally sure that they will match if an offer gets really, really high because I think Peyton Watson, like at worst he's the third best restricted free agent like during number one. I've got Eason number two, but Watson's right there with Eason just ahead of probably Kessler and Matheran in my books. So I wonder if a team could steal this guy because he's helpful around stars playing defense and being like a third score if you need him to.
A
Yeah. A couple of things to add to that. Nuggets are $18 million over the luxury tax, 2.2 million above the second apron. And like Trey said, this is a franchise that like to try and keep the books clean. Bon temps. Our guy doesn't do just weather reports. He said that the Nuggets may need to move Cameron Johnson or Christian Brown to create enough room to pay Watson in the, you know, salary range that he might be looking at. And I'm excited to see what this guy gets because you guys are right. Like it was pretty obvious early. Oh guys, an elite defense, a defensive player. I mean he's got the length, the athleticism, he tries hard, but it was always going to be. And but is he gonna have enough offense to match that? And he did show that. I thought like he said 41% from 3 average, about 15 points before the injury and all that. So it looks like he's like now a legit two way guy. What are we seeing here in the NBA, these teams that go to the Championship rounds and stuff. It's like, oh yeah, you need those like Bridges, OG type guys that, you know, in theory he could turn into as he is so quite young. So what's he looking at here for like, what do you think? Four years, 90, something like that, right? Yeah, four to 92 for him, I think.
D
Yeah, that'd be a good deal. But as Trey said, somebody could overpay him even more so than that.
A
Yeah, they could.
D
I could see, yeah. If, you know, we'll get to Austin Reeves. But if the Lakers say, okay, Austin, hold on a sec, we gotta go get pay somebody a ton of money. It could be this guy, man. Maybe that brings LeBron back because Payne Watson is just a damn good defensive player. They need defensive players, so that could be a situation there. But as you said, the Nuggets most tradable contract to keep Peyton Watson around is Cam Johnson. He's only got one year left. Wow. That Christian Brown extension hasn't even started. This is the year. So five years of that. I always said watching Aaron Gordon play who was their best defender forever, that guy just can't stay healthy. So I, I'm more concerned about that in three years of that for, for the Nuggets payroll. Now that's not, I don't know if they want to trade him away, but I, I, I'd be more likely to think, oh, Peyton Watson's going to be good for a long time. Well, Aaron Gordon, he's just struggled with health this year and last year, so I don't know, I don't. You're right that they're franchise doesn't spend a lot of money, so they got to make some picks. There's no doubt.
A
All right, Trey, your next pick.
C
This is an interesting guy. Give me Isaiah Hartenstein, who actually has a team option. He might not even be a free agent if the Thunder decide, hey, we're just going 28 and a half million dollars. But when they signed Hartenstein, it was like we know towards the end of his contract, it's going to be. The Thunder have to start churning through players if they're trying to keep sga, Chet and J Dub all together. The role player guys could change. They drafted Thomas Sorber last year. He got hurt immediately, didn't play. People are speculating that maybe the Thunder take a center in this year's draft. But then you also go through the way the Western Conference finals went down. Isaiah Hartenstein was their best Wemby defender. They tried other guys on Wemby early on and it really was beneficial to the Thunder to put the strength and the size that Hartenstein had on to Wemby. Wemby's going to be there again next year. We're expecting the Thunder and the spurs to run into each other time and time again. Hardenstein is still on the young side of things as well. Only 28 years old. Like he's worth keeping around the way he is. Just an additive player. Like he rebounds, he finishes at the rim, he moves the ball outside. I think the Thunder need to keep this guy. I wonder if they would decline his team option and see if he could go for, I don't know, maybe we give him three years, 75 million, you know, a little bit less annually, but keep them around for longer. Get Sorber or whoever they draft this year up to speed and then start the churn factor. But I don't know. Other teams would be excited about Hartenstein as well. Like he was awesome for the Knicks a few years ago. He would be a great Celtic if they can find a way to swing it money wise. The Bulls are a team that need a center. Like they're are teams that would definitely be interested in Hartenstein if the Thunder make him available. But they shouldn't.
D
No, they should not. They need him for sure. Yeah. I think the question is contract. Do we say, all right, let's sign something else like you just said, or
A
just stick with that number Hartenstein off the board. Okay. I can't believe this guy slipped to the sixth spot here in our draft of free agents. I'll take Austin Reeves here, player option. I think he's going to decline it. Guys, what's he make, like $15 million right now? So he has definitely unquestionably outplayed that contract that he signed with the Lakers in 23. So he is due here for a hell of a pay increase. Now he's going to be eligible for a five year contract that starts at 25% of the salary cap. So that could pay him a projected like 240 million. So it's a lot of money, right, to say with the Lakers if he goes all the way up there and this is the question here and they've got other pieces to figure out. But also couldn't you see a team coming over the top? Like maybe the Brooklyn Nets come over the top and like, man, this guy scores 25, 26 a game. Like he is really good. We should make a move on that. That would be a nice piece to try building our team around so that could happen. He does have defensive questions. Durability questions to some extent too. But I don't know where you guys think Reeves ultimately lands. Probably stay with LA, but how much of that 239.3 do you think he actually extracts here from the Lakers?
C
Well, the Lakers made the Luka Doncic trade looking ahead to summer of 2026 when they're supposed to have cap space. They've got so many guys coming off the books though, like we're talking about now. It wouldn't be surprising to see LeBron come back. Certainly wouldn't be surprising to see Reeves come back. Luka loves playing with this guy and basically is like, pay him whatever he asks for. So I imagine he'll get whatever he asks for. They can't afford to lose Reeves. They can't afford to potentially lose LeBron as well. Luka ain't getting any younger and the Lakers, like we're talking about, aren't very close to the championship right now. You can't lose your second and third best players and I think more importantly is losing the second best guy. So Reeves to me will be a Laker and he might be a guy that when we finally see the number come down, we're like, whoa, yeah, paying the premium to keep the team together.
D
Yeah, I don't know what the number is, but it's got to come down. That's too much. That's just because they, yeah, they need to get those parts around him. What, what is the number?
C
Is it 200?
D
Wow, that's a lot of money.
C
Everybody makes a lot of money.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
It's just how it is.
D
I mean, he's very capable.
A
I'm not the biggest Austin Reeves fan nor have I ever been. I feel like he gets maybe a little, you know, the, the LA bump and maybe is a little, I don't know, overrated, I guess. No one wants to use that word. I feel that at times a little bit. But he is good is my point. He is really, really good and he's proved it here when healthy again, that scares me. But you know, it's one thing when the guy's a 14 million dollar player and another when he's, yeah, like a 40 plus million dollar player is like, okay, now you better be out there for 70 games and giving us 25 and shooting and obviously. So yeah, I think he's going to stay in LA here. But I wouldn't be shocked if a team gets aggressive to make them match on, on a potential contract.
D
Yeah, I can see that.
A
All right, two more rounds.
D
Let's go young because we got some oldies, some good oldies, but I'm not in the mood. I'm going to take IO to Sumo.
A
Oh, yeah.
D
Unrestricted free agent because there's some talented players out there. There's no doubt, But I'll take IO. But it wasn't a ton of minutes that he played in the playoffs, but when he was out there, damn, he was good. And so, you know, maybe it's a little recency bias, but when he was able to be thrusted into that role and Dante DiVincenza went down, he was really, really good. So this is the time if you're another team, to get IO low because as you said, unrestricted, but he had a low contract coming into this off season. He wasn't given a starting role in Minnesota. And so I think he can be thrust into that type of role. So it's time. It's time for him to get a role from somewhere. Where do you guys think he gets paid from?
A
Minnesota wants to. I think he stays in Minnesota. I think he has them over a barrel here, so to speak, because they. They're an expensive team and they can't really sort of lose him. They saw what happened when to kill Alexander Walker, when he turns into the most improved player, obviously a key piece. Like, I don't think they want to go through that again. They obviously made the trade for him. So, yeah, I think. I don't know what type of deal he's going to get. I'm fascinated by that. Like, I don't know, 18 mil per.
F
That's what they.
C
That's what Walker got, right?
A
Yeah. Yeah, good. Good point.
C
They're very similar players.
A
Yeah.
C
So Walker's like 14 to 15 million. I think IO's about the same there because he's in the exact same spot. He's like their third guard sometimes. He's a starter.
A
Yeah.
C
Mostly he's going to come off the bench because I think they want to keep DiVincenzo shooting, though he's going to be coming off an Achilles injury, so probably IO starting for the Timberwolves and he had a 43 point game in the playoffs. This guy's good.
A
Yeah. Minnesota did acquire his bird rights in the trade, so they're allowed to sign the guard and still exceed the luxury tax and apron. So he's eligible to sign a three year, $52.4 million extension before June 30th. So, yeah, he's going to be probably. What do we say between 15 and 20, I think is what we're getting out here. Do you have any other teams that would love to obviously make a move for IO if he doesn't stay in Minnesota?
B
Yeah.
D
I didn't think through teams, but there's
A
got to be a ton back to the Bulls.
C
We don't need him.
D
Yeah, he's not. He's not going there building the whole
C
team out of forwards.
D
No. The Wolves definitely want to keep them. He'll end up going back there, I imagine.
A
Who do you have as your next pick?
C
How about Kobe White? If you're taking aisle, I'm taking Kobe White because I wanted to take them together. Remember Kobe White? Remember the play in game? Remember that?
A
Yeah.
C
Remember how exciting the Charlotte Hornets were?
D
He was good.
C
We talked about the Hornets a lot this year.
A
Yeah, man. Remember that. That starting five or unbelievable record.
D
Yeah.
C
And then Kobe White was their best player in the playing game. They got to pay this guy they traded for him. He's a perfect fit there alongside Lamelo or coming off the bench to run bench units. He's hardly made any sort of money during his NBA career. He's coming off a 12 and a half million dollar contract basically and I think you could probably get him for like the $15 million range as well. Kobe White is a good player and I assume he will be a Hornet at the start of next season.
A
Who's going to be the most notable name that moves in free agency, like actually moves?
D
If LeBron does move, it's LeBron.
A
Well, yes, I'm going under the assumption that he does under this.
D
Otherwise. Yeah, somebody over pays Peyton Watson, he guess he could leave there biggest boring free agency.
A
I think in terms of movement. Yes, yes.
D
There'll be trades. There'll be trades. But yeah, might be like Mamu.
C
It might be Mama. Might be Anthony Simons.
A
Yeah, like. Yes. I think it's very possible. Okay, so you took Kobe White. I took Kobe White and I'm with you. I think he stays in Charlotte. I'll take a guy that I. Well, which way should I go here? Let's get this guy off the board. We already talked about him a little bit, but. Walker Kessler, restricted free agent.
F
Yeah.
A
He missed most of last season due to injury. He only played in 58 games here before that. Maybe some of that was like, hey, take your time buddy. A little lean into the tank a little bit. But when he plays, he, you know, despite still being very young, is one of the league's best shot blockers. He has an insane 8.3% block rate for his career and he's one of the best offensive rebounders in the league, too, when he's out there. So he is a good player. Feels like in this Wemby era of basketball, you might want size, you might want rim defense, so those are his skill sets. But reports indicate that Walker Kessler is not happy with how the Jazz are negotiating last year and again this year. So maybe this is the guy. Maybe he's the classic sign and trade guy. That's a. That's a possibility I could see here at this free agency class. But, yeah, you know, they have a bunch of bigs. How much money does he want? They might get scared by the. The sticker price that he's asking. So, again, we don't need to spend too much time. We already talked a bit about Kessler, which I like. Now I'm going to start calling him Kessler.
E
It's gonna.
A
This is gonna be like a real Melis with some names. You know, when I start using the last name, but it feels like it's his first name, then I get confused that he's Kessler Edwards. No. Anyway, I don't know what's going to happen with this guy, but he's asking for a lot of money.
C
He's asking for a lot of money.
D
Yeah. And they still have a draft pick to boost their roster as well. And so maybe they're thinking, okay, we don't want to pay Kessler. Walker. Walker Kessler any money. I mean, lower than what he wants. He is a very, very good player. So you're right. Maybe somebody just gives him a bag.
A
Yep.
D
And they don't match.
A
At a certain point, there's going to be a number that, like, okay, we got way too many bigs, and that's way too much money. Yeah. So we'll find if there's a team that's playing ball like that that really, like, makes an aggressive offer.

Bro, from the show last night to this drive, why is it never chill?
D
Because this is our live backstage on the road. It's loud, messy, real.
A
And that's the best part. Whole crew, no plan, just moving. Good thing Nissan builds for that kind of chaos.
D
Not just test tracks. Real life scenes, late nights, road trips, all of it.
A
That's why it holds up. Nissan was ranked number one in initial quality among mainstream brands by J.D. power. Yeah, you can tell. 2026 Nissan Rogue. Built for what really happened for J.D.

A
Newer models may be shown one more round.
D
Yeah, baby.
A
Lots of names. Lots of names that won't be moving.
D
Yep, this one's interesting. You mentioned him earlier. Trey is up high on your restrictive free agents. Tari Eason has got to go. Really, really talented player up and down in terms of the way he shot for the Rockets. There was that span where you missed plenty of threes, but hustle guy plays great defense, plays really hard and can score at times. So that Rockets whole situation is question mark for me. Where do they go? What do they do? Because last year did not work out so well, I suppose Fred comes back healthy next season to be their leading point guard, so it'll be a different roster. But Tar Eason is just an important guy on that team, so I wonder how much he gets paid.
A
Yeah, cbs I thought was spot on with their assessment of Eason. They were like, he's sort of like Peyton Watson in the sense where he's awesome as a defensive player. You know that. That's not a question. But unlike Watson, he hasn't really shown the offensive part of his game yet. I mean, decent efficiency from 3 on, decent volume. But Watson seems a little step ahead of him, I think, on the offensive end compared to Eason. But maybe you're hoping that that can still obviously mature into that and be like an elite three and D guy. So, yeah, with all that said, like, if we're saying four years, 90 to 100 for Watson, it feels. Feels like less for eason, I think four years, 80.
D
Yeah. So put it on the floor.
A
Yeah.
D
He showed he could. Eason, that's not him.
A
Yeah.
D
So there's a difference. There's a big difference.
A
You had Eason, you said on your list here he's intriguing to you.
F
Yeah.
C
I don't know who I think's better between Eason and Watson. I mean, we're given a lot of faith to the one month that Peyton Watson had where he was the number one option. And I'm like, tari Eason led the league in three point shooting for the first half of the season.
F
Yeah.
C
Does that count as much as Peyton Watson's 15 games? I don't know. They're both good at times and they're both just guys. Yeah, at times. So Tari Eason is a guy I want on my team, but I also like Peyton Watson. So who knows? I think Easton's best skill is energy. He's a great offensive rebounder and sometimes he can shoot it.
A
And so you think what I was saying, like 20 million per type thing for. For Eason, I will be a little
C
less like 15 to 18.
A
Okay. I mean, that's what teams are going to want him and his agents are not. So somewhere probably in the middle. Who's your final pick?
C
Yeah, I'm picking a guy that I think. I think could change teams.
A
Okay.
C
I think Robert Williams, the third.
E
Wow.
A
You're going Deep, deep in the back.
C
Well, like literally every other player I have, I'm like, I'll probably stay with this team.
A
Yeah.
C
McCollum, Porzingis, Tobias Harris, Norm Powell, Rui Kaminga is a question mark.
A
Yeah.
C
And then like, like we said, Simons Mamu and Robert Williams are the questions for me. I'm like, I saw some good Robert Williams moments this season go on. He played 59 games. That's not very many, but it's the most he's played since the 2022 season. He looked explosive again. I don't think he's necessarily part of the long term plans. In Portland, Clingan is their starter. They drafted young Hansen last year. Who knows if he turns into anything, but more than likely the Blazers will at least invest in him. See what they've got though. The guy that drafted him is now working for Dallas, so maybe, who cares at this point? But I think Robert Williams is a guy that another team could get for probably a cheap deal. I think he was like on a $12 million deal this year. There are definitely injury concerns with Robert Williams. I'm talking about 59 games as playing a lot for this guy, you know, so maybe you get him on a really, really good deal. But he's the kind of guy that is a good backup, big, and if you need him to be your starter for 10 games, that's awesome.
D
Risky with the bot, that's for sure. But he, it. I was, I was surprised, I think we all were. To see how many games he played this year because you said it wasn't a lot, but for Robert Williams, it was a lot.
C
Yep.
A
All right, final pick. I mean, lots of names. You just ran through a couple. A lot of player options of like sort of some older guys. James Harden, he's probably staying in Cleveland. They'll come to a new term. Van Vliet, you brought up him. I think he'll stay with Houston there. It's a possibility, though. Player option, Draymond Green, Porzingis. Sounds like the warriors and Porzingis are coming to an agreement. Maybe soon. Andrew Wiggins, player option there in Miami. So I'm going to leave those ones. Here's some unrestricted free agents. Quentin Grimes. Maybe Quentin Grimes is the big name that gets moved. I mean, he had that part of the season where he was like scoring like 25 a game. Could another team talk themselves into, like, oh, yeah, give that guy an opportunity. He could be our lead guard. Probably unlikely. Mitchell Robinson. You saw James, you saw James Dolan. Yeah, basically sort of Crapping down the idea we're running it back with the entire team just paying everybody what they want. Okay. So he could be available, obviously a key player for them in their championship run. John Collins, CJ McCollum. You already mentioned Norman Powell. I can't believe you haven't mentioned Colin Gillespie. How do you take him? Number one?
D
I'm shocked.
A
So who of those should I take here is. I almost want to ask you guys for help here. Is it. Is it Quentin Grimes? Is Mitchell Robinson? Because I want to take somebody that actually maybe moves
C
Grimes, I guess.
A
Yeah, yeah.
C
But like nobody wanted to offer him money last year.
A
I know. That's what I was thinking.
C
That was the area was coming off the whatever he was destroying Mickey Mouse march. But he showed up in the playoffs. He was pretty good for him in the playoffs. I think he's like a good fourth guard.
A
Yeah.
D
Yeah. I think after firing Daryl Morey, the guy who comes in can't just let his talented players go. So I think they resign him.
A
Okay.
D
Just because after what happened there, they just gotta keep who they got after. After they traded Jared McCain.
A
Yeah.
C
You can't do this.
D
You can't do this.
A
Okay. Okay. Yeah. Another Laker. Somebody did mention at one point Rui Hachimura is an unrestricted free agent. So, you know, we went. That would be three Lakers we'd have selected here. I'll take Rui just for the fun of it, to close this out, but the guy has turned into like a goddamn absolute sniper from 3. Like his numbers are incredible from deep over the last three or four regular seasons at this point. They get even better in the postseason. His percentages, he can create some of his own looks too, because you got to respect the three. So he like puts it on the ground a little bit and then can hit that pull up jumper. Shu had a crazy number. He's like one of the best in the league on pull up twos. A lot of those, you know, kicked out to the three point line. They close out too hard and then he just can get to that low, comfortable spot. But you know, this guy's six, eight, can barely rebound, like for a power forward at least defensively gets lost. So yeah, I don't know what type of deal he's looking at and how many of these Lakers are going to be back because they had the way they have to do all this. The LeBron factor, the Austin Reeves number, Rui and other things too. So we'll see. See how much of the team they keep together here.
C
Yeah, he's another guy. I'm like, you can't lose Rui.
A
Yeah, I know. He is good. And like, all Luca talks about is like, I want shooters. I need shooters. I need a big man that can run in the rim, that I can throw. Oops. And I need shooters. So, yeah, Rui has proven that he is a goddamn good shooter.
D
He's the modern Nicola Batum. For me, he's gonna play forever. It feels like he's gonna be super healthy. Yeah, he's never gonna be a star, but it fits around Luca. So how can you let him go? That'd be weird.
A
All right, we have our teams here. Tess has LeBron James, Peyton Watson IO and Tari Eason. Trey has Trey Young Hartenstein, Kobe White, and Time Lord. And I have Jalen Duran, Austin Reeves, Walker Kessler, and Rui Hachimura. There you go. You tell us who we miss there in our drafting. Yeah, you know what? All I want to know. Tell us right now. Call your shot. What is gonna. Who's gonna be the biggest name changing teams during this free agency period? That's what I want. Okay. Yeah.
C
Via free agency.
A
Yeah.
C
Giannis doesn't count.
A
No, no, no, no. Just free.
C
No traders.
A
No, no. All right.
D
The show.
C
What do you think Alan Cumming would be worth on the open market?
A
Big max deal. Honestly.
C
Wow.
A
He's pretty incredible.
C
He's old, though.
A
He still has it.
C
That's his prime.
A
I would say he's hit a second win here. I mean, it's unbelievably. Jd. Come on, back me up. Alan Cummings max contract.
F
Absolutely. Yeah.
E
Thanks.
A
Thank you.
F
Come on. He could do traders for the next ten years. Easily.
E
Easily.
F
Guy's gonna be in a Marvel movie coming up. He's got it. He's still. He's at his peak. He hasn't even reached his peak.
A
What's he playing in Marvel or who's he playing in Marvel?
F
Nightcraft.
A
Oh, yeah, right. I always forget that's Marvel.
C
Yeah, it is now.
F
It is now.
A
It is now. That's why. Okay. I like.
F
Well, let's be honest. It's always been Marvel, guys. If you read the comics. Hello. Hello.
A
Nightcrawler. The ability to like, teleport. Teleport.
B
Yes.
A
That's what I'm looking for.
D
Thank you.
A
Yes.
C
Would be one of the best basketball powers.
F
Yeah. Could pass to himself.
E
Wow.
A
That'd be cool. Wow. You think they would go in the. In the books as an assist?
F
Yes.
A
Wow.
F
Yes, I do.
A
Damn. He'd be a problem.
E
All right.
A
Night Crawler. Would be a problem out there, man. All right, it's Friday, it's the drop. So let's end this bad boy with some rapid fire fun. Taz, you got the questions this week?
D
First one, Devin Booker is changing his Jersey from number one to number 15, honoring his USA Basketball uniform in the college large number of his father. Melvin. Thanks for the info, Shams, because you gave us our first question. If you were honoring someone with the jersey number of your choice, who and what number would it be? Skeets, I, I, I noted in here on our Google, Google Doc. It doesn't have to be basketball. You know, it doesn't have to be a basketball player. Like, you know, like you're.
A
Oh, I am not honoring another basketball player with my number.
D
Didn't want that.
B
That.
A
I'm doing a real Mikhail Bridges here. I'm honoring my dog. So here's what number I'm going with. Here's my thought process. Follow me. Luna. My dog's name translates to the moon in Latin. The moon is round, just like a circle.
C
Yes.
A
So give me the jersey number 0 from a sweet Luna girl.
D
Is it going to be a 0? 0? Is it going to be a moon? Like, is it going to look like a moon?
E
I don't know.
A
Maybe you can, I can put a moon as my number.
F
Number.
A
Moon.
D
A moon donut. I guess, you know, you cut out the middle a little bit. You know,
A
I thought I had to go with an actual number, so I went with the one that looks like a moon.
D
I'm imagining the jersey, but yeah, zero.
B
Yeah.
A
Zero. Zero from a sweet Luna girl.
D
Trey, what do you got?
C
If I was a race car driver, I would be number five because I would want to honor Fast and Furious as a franchise. And for me, Fast5 is the best.
A
That's the best.
C
Fast5, also a cool nickname for a race car driver. And five, apparently is a huge number in NASCAR circles. A lot of greats have worn it. Terry Labonte.
A
Oh, I know that name.
C
In the cornflakes car.
A
Oh, yes. That's what I was watching. Yeah, man.
C
I think maybe a Jeff Bodine.
F
Okay.
C
A couple spins around the track in the fast five, but that's what I would want.
A
That's good.
D
Five is a good one.
F
JD Yeah, I struggled with this one because I want to go with 99. Gretzky. Great one, you know, But I'm more interested in the walk up music with 99 because you got 99 red balloons, you got 99 problems. You got this song 99 by Toto. It's actually banger. A little bit soft, but I think it would be fun to walk out to that music.
D
Okay.
F
You know, so. Yeah, why not? It's. I'm filled with Canadian pride right now because, you know, it's the World Cup.
C
Yeah.
F
So, you know, you got to be naturalistic. You know what I'm saying?
C
There have been a lot of songs written about the number 99.
F
Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
C
Kind of surprised you were going through it.
F
Yeah.
C
I mean, more than one is a cool number.
F
Yeah. Oh, 1999, I guess.
C
Close enough.
F
Yeah. Sure. Thank you.
D
99's a good one. Okay, next question. The Voice at Lakers games. Lawrence Tanter is retiring after 43 seasons as the public address announcer. What's something you can do for 43 years, Skeets?
A
This.
D
Okay.
E
Yeah.
A
Podcast. Halfway home. I mean, hopefully the Voice holds up. Oh, yeah. Halfway home. You're right. I mean. Yeah. 20 plus years now. So can I do this for a whole other 20 plus? Yeah. Yeah, I think I can. I still enjoy doing it, so why not?
C
You think we'll see Trey James in the NBA by then? This is Bronny James's son, who will be LeBron James III. They'll call him Trey, certainly.
A
Wow. That'd be amazing. I thought. I was like. Because we had Kingston on. I was like, like, do you think we can last Kingston Fleming's entire NBA career? That's a weird way to. Kingston kid's 19 years old. Born in 2007.
F
In this day and age. I mean.
A
I mean, modern medicine.
F
Modern.
E
Yeah.
A
Like, we can just. At least for all we know, at that point. Yeah.
F
Kingston is younger than my son.
A
I know.
F
That's crazy.
A
Yeah, it's pretty. Don't start. Don't start. Started doing that yesterday and doing a little prep. I'm like, oh, this is weird, man. 07.
F
Holy.
D
Yeah.
B
When.
D
When Jackson was on who's not Older in Kings of fl, when he did our. Our short the other day, and people were saying, which is that JD's son. And people are like, yeah, it is. I don't know. That just started messing me up, too.
A
Sure, man. Next generation is here. It's here both on the court and in the podcast game.
D
Trey, what's your answer for this one?
C
Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna ever forget how to do The Macarena. We're 33 years in.
F
Yeah.
C
Since the Macarena came out, I could remember it if you wake me up from a dead slumber.
F
Wow.
C
18 hours of sleep. Wake up and do the Macarena, no problem. So another 10 years easy. But I really don't think I'll ever forget the steps to the Macarena in my whole life.
D
That's weird. Yeah, it is weird, cuz young kids are doing it.
A
I was gonna say, has it had like a resurgence? Is that what's going on here?
C
I think it has been in the end of some random movies like a Hotel Transylvania or something like that. But I mean, okay, I don't think it's out there.
D
That's why.
A
Big of a deal.
F
But it usually breaks out at weddings, right?
C
Sure, yeah.
A
Yeah. But I haven't seen it at the last couple weddings I've been at, so. Yeah, I think that's why I was asking that. It's exactly why I was like, oh, that's such a wedding song. Totally, very much. But the last couple I have been to, they haven't played it.
F
I don't think I've ever done the Macarena.
A
No.
D
No.
A
Do you know the steps?
F
This, this, this, this something. And this little.
C
You got to end with the hits.
D
Little swirl and then turn.
A
And then you turn 90 degrees. Like a line dance.
F
90 degree turn.
D
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
F
Fake my way through it.
D
J.D. what's something you can do?
F
My answer was this as well. I don't know. I'm running out of time and I'm running out of activities and my body's breaking down. I was gonna say pickleball, but there's no way. Oh, so you know, I guess podcasting sitting here for the next 22 years.
D
What if they play like four players aside in pickleball where you don't have to move one day.
F
Interesting.
C
Wow.
F
Be pretty crowded.
C
Four players just all standing side by side, holding. And if Kingston Flemings ends up on the Hawks, though.
A
Oh, wait, I'm excited. I mean, we're obviously he came on our show, so now we're the biggest Kingston filming in the world. Awesome. Great kid too. And I think he is going to be good. But yeah, he lands in Atlanta. We. We're gonna talk about him every day on this show.
C
More like Kingston Flemings. Nice.
D
I love it.
A
Nice pickleball reference.
D
Okay, last question here this week. When talking about who should be on parade floats, I questioned whether actor John Torturo was a longtime Knicks fan and whether or not he'd be on those floats. Hey, I was wrong. I was wrong. I thought it was just a recency bias. Thought he was just there for the last couple months. I was wrong. He's been there For a long time. He did some dancing yesterday at the parade. He did. What's something you've been wrong about recently, Skeets?
A
Well, I've been wrong about the idea that I was not going to pay for World World cup tickets, because I did. Wow. I'm going on Wednesday. Morocco, Haiti. See you there at the Atlanta Stadium. Now. Now, it worked out a little bit here because a friend reached out and said, hey, before I put these up on the market, does anyone who want to buy them at face value, I was like, yes. I was like, look, I'm not gonna get a better deal than that.
D
Yep.
A
Because I keep checking every day and they ain't going down no matter who these games are or whatever. So I pounced on it. Got him at face value. So I'm pretty excited. And I got World cup fever, baby. What can I tell you?
C
Morocco's good, too.
A
And Morocco's very good. Yep, Morocco's very good.
D
So is that a worry? Are they gonna crush Haiti?
A
I don't care.
C
I, I, I want to see goals.
A
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
D
But I want to see, like, a fairly even match. I don't want a seven zip match.
A
I thought that too, but I was like, I don't care. I want to go to experience it. And everybody that I've seen so far over these last whatever week or so that have gone to a game here in Atlanta, at least, like, they're like, you gotta go. It's awesome. So I'm going.
D
If they win seven zip, are you paying $100 a goal? Is it $700? Basically what I'm, I mean, I'll tell
A
you what I'm paying. I'm paying 410 for my one ticket.
D
That's face value less than I expected, for sure.
A
Yeah. And like, to get in still was like 890, $900 for that game at least.
B
So.
A
This is a good deal, man. I showed to my guy, Stevo. Thanks, Steve O. Stevo, yeah.
C
From Jackass.
A
No, not that one. This guy's funnier than him.
E
I don't know.
A
I don't know.
C
He must be funny.
A
He's funny.
C
Steve O, though. The real Stevo, he's good.
A
The real Steve. Oh, Steve Orticello.
D
Everybody knows.
A
But anyway, I'm going, so come on. Goals now. Morocco. I'll be cheering for Morocco. Our buddy John. John's Haitian. I don't know. You tell me who my cheer for on Wednesday. Can't wait to find out.
D
Trey. Something you've been wrong about recently?
C
Yeah, mine's World cup related as well. We picked our teams we were going to be cheering for. And when we were doing that, I called Spain Winger Lamina Mall. I called him Yamin Lamal. And I'm gonna make that mistake so many times.
D
Yeah.
C
Those are two names that I don't know. And they both sound good both ways.
D
Yeah. Yeah.
C
That's a Janice Dankins situation.
A
Exactly. Oh, no.
C
Yeah, it is. Lamine Yamal. I don't like a name where I have to think about it the entire time I'm saying it. That's tough for me.
D
Lamine Yamal. Yep. Because you said it wrong the first time, but then you corrected yourself like, a few days ago. But, you know, I could be. I had to say it just now, just because I was unaware.
A
I didn't jump in. I didn't jump into correct. I wasn't 100%. I don't know. Trey knows more about this than I do. Must be right.
D
Yeah. Yeah. I'll mess up. I'll. I'll mess that up because I got a friend named Amin. I'll call him Yamin. No doubt. No doubt. Jd.
F
Yeah, it was just the other day, my son Jack was in here doing a short filming you guys answering trivia. And I thought I was trying to be helpful. And the question was, what was the best selling album of 1973? Yeah, and I thought I was being helpful. I. You were stuck, Skeets. And I. And I said, it's the best selling album of all time. Then Jack's editing it and he's like,
D
you were wrong, dad.
F
Yeah, I was like, yeah, I knew as soon as I said it I was wrong, but it wasn't very. It didn't. It didn't affect your answer?
A
No, no, no.
F
But it's actually. Well, it depends on what you check, but according to Wikipedia, wouldn't it be Thriller? Thriller is number one.
E
Okay.
A
Yeah.
F
You want to fill out the top five? According to Wikipedia, I made Dark side
C
of the Moon in the top.
F
Dark side of the Moon is number four. Queen Wayne is not on this is
C
Rumors in top five.
F
No, hers is eight, I think.
A
Okay.
B
Okay.
A
Yeah.
F
I'll give you a hint. One of them is the greatest hits.
A
Oh, I thought Queen. No.
C
Abba.
A
Oh, ABBA Gold.
F
Nope, nope. Think more California folky rock.
A
The. The Eagles.
F
Eagles. Greatest Hits, 71 to 75.
C
Let's actually just take it easy.
A
Yeah, yeah.
C
On repeat 18 times straight.
F
Okay. The number two is a very hard rock rock band from Australia, AC DC back in black. And I would never have guessed this one, Beach Boys. This is a soundtrack. And it's not Saturday Night Fever. Number three.
C
Oh, brother, Where Art Thou?
A
Oh.
F
As mega, mega star. It has one of the most. Yeah, it's got one of the best covers of all time.
A
Oh, my God.
F
Which is made Dolly Parton very.
C
This is the Bodyguard.
F
The Bodyguard, that's right.
A
Good one.
F
Anyway, apologize for steering it wrong there, Skeets. That's all right.
A
I wasn't getting there. Yeah, I wasn't getting there. Yeah, I mean, well, you know, we got there when you said rainbow and then it was like.
F
That was. Yeah.
A
Okay, there we go. Rainbow on the COVID Yeah. Pink Floyd. Dark side of the Moon. That was fun. Go check out that short that Jackson put together us with the 1973 trivia because of the Nick winning the championship.
F
All right.
A
Rapid fire. Semi rapid. Sort of this week. Thank you so much to Kingston Flemings for joining us off the top of the show. Good luck to him next week. Come on. Hey, man, come on.
A
I'm seeing. I'm seeing possibilities high as 5. Clippers could be interested, but there are that. That glut of guards, so. Yeah, I mean, is it somewhere between 5 and 10? Probably cool.
D
Probably. Get on. See Saleh on the horn. We gotta convince him.
A
All right, call him up.
C
You gotta take this guy. We're talking.
A
We talk.
F
Fifteen minutes.
C
Seems good.
D

D
They're pushing back Giannis's date apparently. Could be July. We got time.
A
I did see.
B
Yeah.
A
Somebody said because this idea of like, well, it's going to happen before the draft or during the draft because they'll want said picks, the Bucks. But then someone was like, they should let another team do the drafting because the Bucks have not been good at drafting. So let them take whoever they want and then make the deal. Thought that was pretty funny.
D
That is funny.
A
But yeah, we'll see. So we're here if there's an emergency. Otherwise we'll see you Monday till then Clipper Bros. You heard it here first.
C
Have a great time. Turn up.
E
Love you guys.
F
Awesome.
D
