Good morning sweet world and welcome to the no Dunks podcast presented by FanDuel. It's Thursday, June 11, 2026. I'm Jay Skeets here in the classic factory and alongside me as always, Tas Melas.
Tas Melas
Fans of Heartbreakers and Heart Makers. This one's for you.
Jay Skeets
Next to him, it's my top shot hot boy Trey Kirby Ayo. Hey yo. And over yonder making the magic happen, super producer JD There he is. Here we are. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Hello podcast listeners. Holy shit. What a game. Game for the NBA Finals. We gotta jump right into us. This could take a while. The Knicks pulled off the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history last night. That's what we watched. The Cardiac Knicks trailed the spurs by 29 points in game four. Came all the way back to win 107, 106 in regulation at Madison Square Garden. I'm still in shock. I'm sure you're still in shock. Everybody joining us in shock. Legit bonkers. The hero OG Anunoby tipping in. Jalen Brunson's missed three with 1.2 seconds remaining to complete the rally. Give the Knicks a 31 lead here in the finals. And now three cracks at winning the NBA championship. They're calling it the Hand of OG he also came up with a huge block which we'll get into on Fox just prior to that. Yeah, but I don't know where you want to begin here. Task. Do we just start right at the end with these huge plays from OG Anunoby?
Tas Melas
I think so.
Jay Skeets
What A play. What a tip.
Tas Melas
With OG Anunoby's tip. I. I was debating should Mike of Breen called a bang or a triple bang, should it have been his first bang?
Jay Skeets
Bang, bang on a tip.
Tas Melas
Yeah, there is.
Jay Skeets
He decided not to.
Tas Melas
There's not that anticipation, the build up of a shot in the air to get a bang from. So that's why it's odd to hear it, right?
Jay Skeets
Yeah, I don't think you can bang a tip.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I don't think you can see.
Trey Kirby
Hard to wedge it in there like that. You know, it's a quick, quick play that happened. What an incredible play by OG Anunoby. Back to back. Incredible plays by this guy. Obviously the tip to win it. But before that, the crazy decision by Dear and Fox to shoot the layup on the fast break. But OG got back and made a play of it.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
And then just awesome. You hear it all the time on a broadcast. The most dangerous man is the inbounder, right. And he almost never plays a factor. But guess what? He was the most dangerous man on this.
Tas Melas
And he was calling for it to be. To get it at the three point line at first because Brunson, because Fox
Jay Skeets
went over to, to help Wemby of all guys on Brunson. Probably, probably regret that decision, of course. And OG got to scream right in there. I mean he's a big guy as it is, has what, 30 foot Runway just to leap higher than everybody but then to perfectly get his hand on it and tip it in. And the slow mo replay here we're showing you on YouTube is just, it's, it's a work of art. It's one of the best shots we've ever seen in finals history.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, Mike Brown called it the best shot in Knicks history, I think.
Jay Skeets
I mean, I can't deny it, like right now it's probably just won them a championship. So yeah, you know, we'll see. There's still, still game five and potentially game six and seven.
Tas Melas
But yeah, yeah, I loved hearing Brunson talking about it post game with the ESPN guys, talking about how high he had to get it up. And he was still thinking that. I thought that was good. He thought that was going in, it was just short. But OG even from that angle that we just showed you on YouTube, had to reach so far back to tip that thing. It wasn't just that. Oh, it's right here because it was a three point shot. There was a big bounce off when
Jay Skeets
I was looking for the thumbnail of the game winner here from OG Last night, late last night, I kept looking at the photo going, well, that can't be right. There's no way he tips that. I kept thinking it was another like weird rebound or play. And I kept looking at it like, nah, there's no way because like, yeah, where it is, it just doesn't seem like his hand's going to be able to reach back to then not only tip it, but to tip it perfectly in it. It didn't hit rim, didn't hit backboard, didn't get a lucky roll. It just like perfectly swished in and yeah, they came back from 29 points. Yeah, the spurs were 27 and a half. And then the Wu Tang Clan came out and said, hey, Nixon, five as Method man left the court. Yeah, how does he do this? This guy knows the future.
Trey Kirby
Unbelievable. The Knicks love getting down by double digits, but they took their comeback fetish to another level last night. This is an insane kink they have because getting down by 29. The ultimate tale of two halves in this game. The spurs were on fire in the first half. It looked like they were getting a wide open 3 whenever they wanted it. If it wasn't a 3, it was something at the rim. They went 14 of 26 in the first half, broke the record for threes in the in a half for the final. So you think, of course they're going to start missing eventually. You can't shoot 14 for 26 in both halves. There's no way. But you didn't think it was going to be as bad as it was for San Antonio in the second half. They just went 8 for 39 from the field, period. They went from getting perfect offense for 24 minutes to having absolutely no clue it was Chuck A3. And if that wasn't working, we're just going to try and throw it to the rim for Victor to try and draw a foul on some sort of an alley oop. The other offensive play they had was like Castle trying get some free throws.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
But other than that, they had no clue what to do. The Knicks just said, we saw you make 14 three pointers in the first half and we're not even going to guard those guys. That was amazing. The balls to actually be like actually sag off them more, pack the paint more. And it completely worked for the Knicks to flip the game.
Tas Melas
They missed. They, they screwed up in so many ways in the second half. I mean, it takes a village of screw ups to do what they did to give up 29 points. Darren Fox is four turnovers in the second half. That's a lot of turnovers. Three from Dylan Harper and two from Stefan Castle to give them nine after only having two.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
In the first half. So there are three guards gave them that nine and multiple times in the last couple minutes you mentioned. Yeah. Dear and Fox shooting that shot for no reason.
Jay Skeets
Oh my God.
Tas Melas
You just dribble that thing out.
Jay Skeets
You just circle through, you kill more clock. They have to foul you. You go to the line, you know, then you're giving yourself a chance to be up 3. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Running away from the defense as they're trying to catch you. Fouling looks like the most fun thing that could possibly happen on a court. Exactly. Like that was never my role. I was never the guy to try and run away way. They're like easy, easy to catch this fast. But Darren Fox, like you're a fast guy who makes free throws. All you need to do is run around. There's a clip of Manu Gili doing it against the Pistons just running around.
Tas Melas
It feels like he, he thought about it. Am I going to stop here? But then I kind of look like I have an open layup. So he starts and OG kind of comes out of nowhere. There may have been some contact, but whatever, it's clean.
Jay Skeets
Bl they're never calling that in that.
Tas Melas
They should not. They absolutely should not. But it's also two minutes after another play where it looked like Fox was giving away this game when he literally passed it to Josh Hart on that breakaway with two minutes left. Josh Hart had a breakaway, a free lane breakaway and missed a layup which was.
Jay Skeets
I thought about dunking it and then he was like, oh, I guess I'll try and lay it in. And it was like a two hand layup at the front of the rim.
Trey Kirby
So the dumbest play of the game for about five minutes.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
And then it wasn't.
Tas Melas
Yeah. And so the spurs have a one point lead after that. But then Wemby misses two free throws. Yeah, I mean just a bunch of. He did bunch of flubs and then, I mean then yeah, we can go on and on about the mess ups but took a lot of them and we will here.
Jay Skeets
I think like you said, they were up what, 27 at the half now. Okay. You're thinking a lot of people are probably going, okay, wow, we're going back to San Antonio tied to too. I was thinking of Trey Kirby on yesterday's show saying, I think we're due for a blowout here in the finals, unfortunately. Well, this looked like it was going to be that. All that said though, you're like, okay, at some point, we've watched a million basketball games. The Knicks will make a run here. They'll put a dent into this. Like, but like, how close will they get? So they chipped away a little bit. Okay. But it was still a 20 point lead with like 9:30 to go. There were so many times where I was like, well, that's it. Valiant effort, I guess, but they're gonna come up short here and it will be all for naught. Yep, of course. And like, oh my God, I'm looking at my notes here. How many times did I write off the Knicks in that game? 4. I have at least six different times I wrote them off. Let me go through them. When Castle was throwing an alley oop to Carter Bryant off a Knicks made basket. That's not good. That's not good. Now, it was very early, of course, when Jeremy Sohan checked in for the Knicks, I was like, oh, that's not good. That's really. And then it suddenly kicked off like a Dylan Harper run of his own. I was like, okay, that's bad. Then the Knicks, when they sort of had made a run of it in the third quarter, they started the fourth quarter ice cold. McBride missed a wide open three. Shamet bricked a wide open three. I think Bridges missed a wide open three. They didn't score for like the first three minutes of the fourth quarter until Jose Alvarado hit a corner three that like somehow fell in it hit like all rim hit backboard and went in. I thought that's when they had blown their chance. Josh Hart, you said Tass blows the fast break layup. I'm like, oh, my God, this guy, this guy. What are you doing? And then even when Castle crashed the offensive glass, hell of a play from him late. Josh Hart fell asleep on that.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Got the two free throws. This guy's ice cold at the line. Like, unlike Wemby hit them. I thought it was over. And then, yeah, when the. When the rebound got poked ahead, dear and Fox, we've said for years he's probably the fastest guy in the league. You know, ankle injury and all. He beats everybody to the ball and he decides to shoot it. And just like you said, like, why didn't you just circle it out? And I would add to that. Okay. Yeah. He's thinking, maybe I'll just get the two points here against. Anybody else chasing you down, maybe not. Og, who, how many times in this finals already has denied a guy on a fast break opportunity he's done it like three or four times.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Through the finals.
Tas Melas
And he denied us a good interview after the game. It was such a boring OG Interview after the game. Cause that's what OG Why would you expect anything? Well, I know that's what OG does.
Jay Skeets
I actually thought that was an amped up OG the way he was.
Tas Melas
Yeah, but bas. Yeah, basic stuff. Stuff. So, yeah. Hard breaker. Yes. It's.
Trey Kirby
I, I. It doesn't matter if it's anybody. It only puts you up three. It could have been Earl Boykin chasing him down. You shouldn't shoot that.
Tas Melas
No, you should, you should not shoot it. You should not.
Trey Kirby
He gets to the ball at 13 seconds. He's got it. He got minimum two seconds more off the clock and then make free throws. But this is not the first time Fox has like passed up at, I know. Free throw attempts. He did it in was this game two where he cat. Or maybe it was game three. Catch. Passed it away immediately. He was quaking in his shoes. I mean, he scored once in the fourth quarter. He hit that three. It was a terrible possession for the Spurs. But Fox was bad the entirety of the second half. Dribbling off his own feet. Turnovers, just throwing it to nobody. Like the heart. One that he had one as well earlier in the half, in the third quarter where he just throws it across court to nobody.
Tas Melas
Yes.
Trey Kirby
Fox was selling it out there.
Tas Melas
Four turnovers. Three of them were a two. No, one. They were, they were literally bad passes. You know, one was trying to give it to the, in the pocket to Wembanyama. But when Yama wasn't looking for it, then he tried to go across the floor. No one was looking for those three passes to no one other than Josh Hart. I guess you can call him someone going the other way. So we have four big flubs from him.
Jay Skeets
I thought he had redeemed himself a little bit, though, when he, the Knicks had cut it to four. The place is going absolutely mental. And they come out and Fox hit a huge three. And then they followed up with a Wemby jumper. And it was like, okay, maybe they adjust, you know, a good timeout finally there for Mitch Johnson. Sort of like quiet the crowd, get back in control, you know? But then of course, there's all these other mental mistakes that both had. Because if you're divvying up the blame pie here, I don't know. Are you going, Are you going? A third for Fox, a third for Wemby with his shot selection and missed free throws and maybe a Third for Mitch Johnson or who's getting the pieces of blame.
Trey Kirby
Fox has taken the biggest, biggest slice for sure, but Wemby is eaten a fat slice as well. Those two missed free throws are the biggest shots of his career, and he missed both of them. And a lot of credit, honestly, goes to Fat Joe. I don't know if you noticed, but he's sitting basically parallel to Wemby, right. Right in the right side of his vision. Free throw line extended. He goes to the line Wemby does, and Fat Joe is doing like Bushwhacker.
Jay Skeets
Up and down, up and down, up and down.
Trey Kirby
Wendy misses the first one.
Jay Skeets
Fat was loving it.
Trey Kirby
He's like, this worked. This actually works.
Jay Skeets
Second one.
Trey Kirby
Arms again, misses the second one. I think Fat Joe gets a little bit of credit. Pie. Wow, free throws last night.
Jay Skeets
The Bushwhackers referenced here. So did he do Luke first and then Butch when he was doing it, or Butch and then Luke?
Tas Melas
Oh, maybe. Maybe Bush was Fat Joe and Luke was Spike Lee, because he's basically opposite.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
And he always gets up immediately when the free throw shooter goes. Now, I wasn't watching Wemby in particular, but, yeah, he's trying to get in his peripheral there to. To mess him up. So maybe that helps.
Jay Skeets
But it's not just the missed free throws either. This guy was settling.
Tas Melas
No, he was. He was not locked in. Coming out of the locker room, you could see him pointing to his head multiple times because of his shot selection. I thought nine minutes left in the fourth quarter was a. A weird one where two alley oop passes to him didn't work out. One was Jose Alvarado. Kind of took out his leg a little bit, and they said, oh, it's on the floor. So they tried another one. Missed. And he's running back and. And he's tapping his head looking at somebody. I think it's the referee saying that was a foul. Instead of going back and blocking what was a run by the Knicks and Mikhail Bridges got a layup and Wemby missed it. I mean, if he's. If he's.
Jay Skeets
And he did react to that, too. He slapped the stanchion.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I mean, it seemed upset with himself or whatever.
Tas Melas
He wasn't locked in in that second half, but still, it came down to just. Just a couple of plays. I thought a big heartbreaker was 124 left when Brunson gave them the first lead of the game. And he hit that runner, which was right at the end of the shot clock. It was incredible defense by the spurs to play for 24 seconds. Castle was on his shoulder, but when he lets it go, Vasile could just jump and block because you. You're right at the end of the shot clock. You don't have to go back. But he didn't. Vasile really didn't do anything. I know I'm. I'm picking it weeds here, but when it comes to anything, I mean, I think Vesal could have helped out there, but either way, then Castle goes, hits the two free throws. I didn't think Castle was hitting those things, hitting. He hit those big ones in game three. Yeah. Then he has an interview with Malika Andrews. Sit down. They talk about. I thought, okay, maybe you're getting in your head a little bit, you know, but nope, that didn't matter. Those were huge. Huge, huge, huge. And then the. Then the deer and then the og. We haven't even mentioned Carl Anthony Towns stopping that Stefan Castle inbound attempt.
Trey Kirby
That looks like the play was gonna work.
Tas Melas
That was gonna work. That was gonna be a dunk. Yeah, that was a duck. It was all.
Jay Skeets
Everybody thought, probably it's going to Wemby here. He can get off any shot. You know, maybe it'll be at the rim or even just a jumper like he had in game two. Yeah. But, yeah, it was a hell of a play call, actually, from the Spurs. And you're right. If Cat. I mean, good call by Mike Brown to put Cat on the inbound pass and have Robinson out there on Wemby.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Does it.
Tas Melas
Somebody does you need somebody taller. I don't know if that matters, but you can. You can see the referee before the play saying that Cat, here are the rules. You got to give a little. Give a little space or whatever. But Cap played it perfectly. Yeah. If he usually could see Dylan Harper kind of look into the three point line to try and throw off Cat, and then, bang, here comes the pass. It would have been a huge dunk for Stefan Castle. There was nothing. It was a perfect play because he was, as you said, right by when
Jay Skeets
Heart's like stumbling and bumbling too there. Coming around the pit.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
If.
Tas Melas
If the Knicks lose Josh hard. The compilation of missed, missed shot. Then the missed box out because he, you know, he was. He was going through it. It sure felt like. And then that one, which was won by Carl Anthony Town's fingertips.
Jay Skeets
He.
Tas Melas
He tipped that thing. Still has it on camera.
Jay Skeets
We only know he tipped it because of Ben Stiller's footage. I feel like the broadcast did a poor job of. Actually,
Tas Melas
we did not say one replay.
Jay Skeets
I mean it came up so short that you were like, he must have tipped it. You know, I don't think Har, the
Trey Kirby
timing looks super weird, but yeah, great play by Cat to get his fingers on that. He scored in the fourth quarter. Like looking like the absolute disaster Carl Anthony Towns game where everything that was positive said about him in games one and two was going to go by the wayside. Cause he gets two files in the first minute of the game. We're seeing Huck 40 minutes. We're seeing so ham minutes and it's caused Cat could not stay on the floor. But then he finally gets his baskets in the fourth quarter. He had that like twinkle toes three pointer. I couldn't believe he like stepped back far enough to actually get both feet behind and then he had that tough drive through Wendy on the baseline. A couple of huge plays from him after a disaster. 24 minutes this quarter start.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, and then let's show love to Jalen Brunson here because it's sort of getting overlooked because of the pandemonium of this game and OG's heroics. But like they're not there without Jalen Brunson. Even, even the shot itself, of course for OG to tip in. But he scored nine of his 35 he had in the fourth quarter, including big, big shots. He said that one there task, that floater jumper, whatever, a couple threes. I mean he just hit some huge shots to get us to the, to the OG block and then tip in. He's one win away from becoming, you know, I don't know where you're going to put him on the all time greatest Knicks list, but one of them, if not the number one with this achievement. But they got to win one more. But what a game from him. I just thought even times, even when the spurs were up huge, there were instances where Brunson was just like, I'm not letting go of the rope here. I'm not letting go of it. I'm just going to keep going and going and try and just keep this manageable. Even though it looked like there's no way they're coming back from 25 plus, but. But they've done this before too. They obviously have the confidence in them that hey, we can do this. We're down 20, it's okay. And they had it to 15 by the end of the third quarter and obviously had it to with basically a two possession game with like four minutes to go.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
Tas Melas
The chipping in by the Knicks started with Jalen Brunson there's no doubt. And they felt it, as Brunson said post game, when it was 15 at the end of the fourth quarter, like, okay, we gotta hope here. But it was his just stand locked in, hitting those threes when Wemby wasn't coming out. At times, just open shots. It's all on Brunson. Kudos to Jose Alvarado,
Jay Skeets
Mike Brown there.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Because we've seen earlier in this series at times you need some help for Brunson at the end of the games. Trey talked about it just to have somebody else to help him out. But the worry about Mikhail Bridges on the floor is you're going to give it away at some point like he did Game two. One minute left, bad turnover. Wemby brings it in and it's an an one on the other side. Jose Alvarado ain't going to that. Played the last nine minutes of this game, hit three shots, did it with five fouls. Most of it, you know, six minutes left, he had five fouls. Huge, huge three with three minutes left. Big time, big time from that guy that they acquired at the trade deadline. And we'll throw you in here at the end of Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Awesome.
Jay Skeets
I heard Bill Simmons on the podcast last night say, or, or bring up the idea of like at the trade deadline, when guys get traded, what do we always do? We're, we're all guilty of it that people are in the content game. Jose Alvarado, he can win you a quarter. He can win you a half. Whatever we say. Right. We always say that. Or we like debate it. Like this minor trade to a good team, could it win him x amount of minutes in obviously an important game. And he, he did. He hit some absolutely big baskets there in the fourth quarter. And a hell of a, you know, a trusting job there for Mike Brown to go to him over McKill bridges.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, and it was the right move and the spin move. What a crazy play by him right in the middle of the lane. Things were actually spread out a bit. He just kept the ball moving, hit his threes when he needed to. Gave him a, a big emotional boost. And then just being a ball handler out there I thought was huge. Cause he made a lot of plays off of Brunson getting double teamed, this kind of stuff. I also thought it was like really big in the third quarter. Castle picks up a foul early, he gets subbed out. And that was when the Knicks really went on their first run. Brunson feels pretty confident against anybody that's not Castle. I mean, I do think Harper does a decent job on him as well. But Vasal I think he sees as easy enough to score. But you're right, it was. It felt like the whole night is like, is anybody going to come along with Brunson and OG and the answer is not really. Really didn't need a third guy, but Towns had a couple of buckets. These plays by Alvarado were just enough to get him over the edge, based on Brunson and OG Just hitting amazing shots. Like when you watch this thing back today, like you're just living in the moment last night, but you watch it back and you're like, these are insane shots. Like you're never seeing OG Anunoby go between his legs twice. Step back, hit a mid range jumper that goes front rim, back rim, backboard front rim, and it's dropping in. I mean, he's been making shots all postseason, but he went to another level last night. So many of Brunson's shots seemed impossible. Yeah, the three over Wemby, that was crazy.
Jay Skeets
That place was shaking.
Trey Kirby
After he felt like Paris all over again. Steph Curry shooting over Wemby, I was like, is this ultimately Wemby's destiny in the NBA to be on the victim side of massive three pointers? I don't know because it looks so cool when you shoot over him from the perimeter.
Tas Melas
Maybe I felt like I was high, but I felt like we did have the camera shaking at some point.
Jay Skeets
Oh, I think it was.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Not even, not even from the main camera, but sometimes, you know, there's something along the baseline just capturing the bench or whatever. The cameras were shaking.
Jay Skeets
Oh, yeah.
Tas Melas
And maybe I was just feeling. Wanting to feel a shaking camera. Like, yes, I think it's shaking. Or maybe that's just me.
Jay Skeets
I don't think that was in your head.
Tas Melas
I think there was some shit. It was at one point. Yeah. Well, I don't know if it was the main camera, but yes.

Also credit to Mike Brown. You know, gave him credit for playing Jose Alvarado over Mikhail Bridges. I thought putting OG Anunoby on dear and Fox was huge in this game too. I mean basically whoever OG is on at this point is like, well that person's not doing anything and he went to that and you know we were giving Fox a lot of blame and he should be the vet on this team and he made a lot of boneheaded plays. But also that was because of OG starting to guard him and just the spurs completely abandoned their offensive principles as the game got on and it started to get Away from them. And it was like, oh, my God, is this happening? Is this happening? So this is another great coaching move. Mike Brown has coached his ass off for the most part in this Finals.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, the spurs dominated inside like, they were making threes for sure last night in the first half. But the reason they were getting threes were all of these spray plays. When they're getting two feet in the paint, kick it out, get a wide open 3. It was working perfectly in the first half. And, oh, yeah, like I said, Mike Brown was like, who cares? We're packing the paint even more. That's why Wemby wasn't scoring inside. That's why he wasn't getting these free runways or chances to attack closeouts like he got in the first half. When he's getting these buckets around Mitchell Robinson, anytime he's rolling, anytime anybody's handling, they're at boxes and elbows. Even off of, like, Vassell, who was shooting the ball incredible last night. They're like, okay, we just can't get beaten side with dunks. That's the main key here. That's how San Antonio wants to score. If they hit threes all night, they hit threes all night. They knew they weren't going to make as money as they did in the first half. But I don't think it could have gone better according to plan than it did for New York to be like, okay, we're not guarding anybody on the perimeter, and they actually start missing like crazy. But as soon as they started missing, it was like they kept trying and trying and trying. Like, you mentioned the flagrant
Jay Skeets
elbow or whatever.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, Wendy elbowing cat right in the beard. Immediately after that, it's like the spurs felt so tight. They're chucking up threes, and the Knicks are getting a little bit of confidence. That was a big turning point for sure. And they just didn't have the wherewithal to keep playing the way they had.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, that sparked, I believe, a 130 Knicks run that really, like, got them back in the game. And it wasn't a. It wasn't a 130 run that happened, like, in 90 seconds or two minutes. It took a while, but, yeah, the spurs were definitely, definitely settling after the Wemby flagrant. It took forever to replay that one, too, and review that one. And, yeah, I. I thought it was almost hilarious that it. It oddly ended up benefiting the Knicks. But, yeah, that was a. That was a big turning point, too. And now this guy. I mean, we should say this. He does have three total flagrant points. Unless it's rescinded. I don't see why it would be right. One more, you know, and he would miss a game. So, like, let's say the spurs win game five and something happens where he gets another elbow up, he pushes somebody a little too aggressively, gets under somebody. I don't know. It's not out of the realm of possibility, but we'll see what impact that has on him.
Trey Kirby
Like, this was just a random play. Yeah, just a random play.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah. I'm glad. Kind of glad that happened. Or. Or the fact that the Knicks won and we're not talking about fouls. Cause there's a bunch of things in the first half where Alvarado's goaltending that should have been called the goaltending.
Jay Skeets
They thought it was a new.
Tas Melas
But which I thought at first. It looks straight short, right? It looked way short. Wemby had an offensive goal tip that wasn't called over the cylinder, but one. You have that long arm in front of that thing. Maybe the referee can't see it from his angle. He lost the ball and the spurs got it. But, hey, Jose Alvarado with that over the back. Over and back. That wasn't an over and back. That was so close with seven seconds left. And Fox fouls him. Was it Fox?
Jay Skeets
Yeah, yeah.
Tas Melas
That was amazing. Because his body's over, but the ball stays behind.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
Tas Melas
And he passes behind. Good. No call.
Jay Skeets
Good.
Tas Melas
No call by the referee.
Jay Skeets
But in real time, where you like me. I was like, what are you doing?
Tas Melas
That's.
Jay Skeets
Or they missed it. It's over and back. Then you're like, oh, actually, yeah, it's not. It's not. Yeah, it was crazy. Like. Like legs on the broadcast in the first half, he's like, oh, the spurs are in a rhythm. And I was like, yeah, that's a bit of an understatement. Like, they had 11 three pointers made in like the first 15 and a half minutes of the game. Everybody, it wasn't one guy. It was like every spurs guy stepping into looks, banging them home. I thought the Knicks looked completely rattled. Of course you had. You had. I know we have the clip in random notes, but, like, Vick was in Mitchell Robinson's head and you had Jose Alvarado, like, literally leg tackling Wemby underneath the rim. Spurs just compiling all these assists. They didn't have a turnover for what felt for, like, for a long time. Whatever. 20 minutes of game time, and they're up so huge at the half. And it all. It all Goes away in a second. Still seems fake in a weird way. Like the game feels like a dream.
Tas Melas
Yeah, it does. Yeah, we're. I don't know if you're with Nora or you're with Laura because Danielle went to bed at half. She said, I'm done. This is over.
Jay Skeets
Well, hold on. We should get JD's story, or I guess a lesson that he had in the house last night. You want to share that? Jd, you're watching this game?
Tas Melas
Yeah, I was watching with my son and I was saying, you know, I'm tired. I gotta go to bed. I hope Trey is right. I hope this is a blowout. Either way. Doesn't matter. It looked like a blowout. And then Jackson's like, dad, go to bed.
Jay Skeets
Oh, wow.
Tas Melas
I was like, I can't do it. I can't do it. Well, you'll see.
Jay Skeets
And I was drunk inside, you genius.
Tas Melas
I've been doing this for 20 years, Skeets.
Jay Skeets
That's right.
Tas Melas
Hey, gotta do it.
Jay Skeets
That's right. And look, I know it's easy to say now, but this is the one inexperienced team, young team, in the San Antonio spurs blowing another game, unfortunately for them in the Finals. And in a Knicks team that just keeps doing this like the stats are insane. New York is 10 and 9 when trailing by double digits over the last two postseasons. They're 16 and 18 when trailing by 10 plus in the playoffs since Brunson became a Nick, which is like not bad record, they're basically 500 when they get down, like by a decent amount. So that's the most double digit comeback playoff wins in that span, thanks to Keeks for that.
Tas Melas
And they're 2, 0 when Method man performs that half in this postseason. Method man was so good a couple weeks ago, they brought him back with Wu Tang this time.
Jay Skeets
And he literally said when they were down 27 at the half, as the set wraps up, goes Nixon5. He says, Nixon5. He's like, Ah, we got it, don't worry. And then they come back and we'll see if they can actually do that.
Tas Melas
Yes, yes.
Trey Kirby
Well, did they have. I didn't actually see who everybody was there for the plan.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, Ghost.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, I'm just looking now.
Jay Skeets
There's a lot out there.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, the roses out there, it looks like they had like five or six. That's a good percentage.
Jay Skeets
Very good percentage.
Tas Melas
You know what? This percentage surprised me. Even seeing the stat that seven out of the last eight years the winner of Game four has won the NBA Finals. I was like, that seems High.
Jay Skeets
Sounds like a important game.
Tas Melas
Yeah, quite important. And the only, the only loser who won was the Mavs against the Celtics. But they already. Yeah, it was already done. Anyway, so this game four, a huge
Jay Skeets
critical, crucial, maybe pivotal or just. Just important. Just important. Game four.
Trey Kirby
Oh, man, the spurs, they could literally be up 3, 1. They had the ball going to win with under 10 seconds left in two games.
Jay Skeets
They have led all four games of this series with under two minutes to play. They got outscored 11 to 0 in the final 150A game one. Wemby passed it off Castle's back and missed the buzzer beating jumper in game two. They won game three in a close one and then they blew a 29 point lead in game four with. Yeah, Fox could have dribbled it out obviously. Wemby could have hit some free throws. One other guy hits a shot, whatever. Yeah, I mean, I think you could say, I think you could make a case they just swept the finals. I don't know what Kenny Atkinson is saying this morning. Analytically. Spurs win.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
But yeah, it's, it's super tight and I don't. Okay, well, let's ask this now. How do you feel about their chances?
Tas Melas
Metaphorically, I think they won their championship in the Western Conference finals and didn't come out ready to play. That's definitely how it feels. That's what essentially felt through Wemby's body language. And they weren't ready and they came back.
Jay Skeets
In both those games. You took spurs in five. So you weren't feeling.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I wasn't feeling it. No, I wasn't feeling it.
Jay Skeets
But he did address that. You're right. After one of those games. Did you watch his postgame press conference or see any of his clip? Man, he was a sad boy.
Trey Kirby
He a sad boy.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, no doubt.
Trey Kirby
Even he's like, he's been doing a good job for the first three games. Being like, yeah, we can turn it around. We can use this as first fuel. And right now he's like, this is a, this was a bad game.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Hopefully I can find out how to
Tas Melas
turn it into a good game.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, that's right.
Tas Melas
That's right. I guess they're happy they have two nights off because I think the more time you have off, the better for them to kind of forget it, clean it, wash it away and rinse. It would be awesome for them if they had a week off. But it's only two days off.
Jay Skeets
Well, they might get a summer off here soon.
Tas Melas
Yep.
Jay Skeets
But what do you, what do you think of the chances for the spurs to. To get this back, let's say to Madison Square Garden or to do the very next to impossible. Not impossible. Saw the Cavs do it against the warriors. Come back from 3. 1. But I don't know what percentage do you put that chance at?
Trey Kirby
A3.1%. It could happen. It could happen. Like the. The spurs have played well enough to have won any of these four games. They won one of them. But also when the same thing keeps happening, it's like, why would it change? One team is going to be more composed if it gets to a clutch game and that team is going to be the experienced team. I guess experience still matters.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Yourself. You think this is.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I think it's over as a series. Can they come back to New York? Yeah, I think there's a chance, a good chance of that. That the spurs win game five.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, they gotta do the whole thing. Like, we haven't won a finals game in front of our home crowd. We gotta give the Jackals a win. Right. Just look at game five.
Trey Kirby
Is that, you know, give it for Spurs Nacho.
Jay Skeets
That's exactly right. That's exactly right. For the alien guy. Big Red Spurs. Nacho of Big Red Y. That's what you got to do. You got to give them a win. You don't even got to do like, oh, just to stay alive. Do that. And then obviously then you'll get into game six and whether you can do that. But I, Yeah, I, I do have a little confidence. These games have been so close, like we just said, like, why. Why couldn't they win game five and two plays a game on. What would that be? We got Saturday night, game five, and then Tuesday, I guess, game six. If we have.
Tas Melas
If necessary, then you'll have the Knicks fans with. With their chance. My mayor is Muslim. My bagels are Jewish. My shirt. Stevie Nicks. Nicks in six.
Jay Skeets
They've switched.
Tas Melas
Well, that was a John Hollinger edit of the original.
Jay Skeets
We'll get into those shirts. By the way, John's version.
Tas Melas
John's version. Yeah. Cuz listen, the one before the series was good. Oh, yeah, that was. That was good.
Jay Skeets
The Knicks in four.
Tas Melas
My mayor is Muslim. My bagels are Jewish. My Christian. Dior Nixon. Yeah. To be out there like you're the. Yeah, the Wild Knicks fans. They can still do it for game six. This was their first real home game. Right. Without the President causing security problems. Well, yeah, sure felt that way. Like, it felt. It felt real. More real than game three.
Jay Skeets
I mean, they Just.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, eventually it did.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yo. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
MSG was dead for 24 minutes.
Tas Melas
Oh, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Jerry Seinfeld, like the saddest place you've ever seen.
Tas Melas
Yes.
Jay Skeets
It was a morgue there for a little bit.
Tas Melas
Yeah, that was good.
Jay Skeets
I mean, I almost felt like it was coming through in the broadcast from Mike Breen, noted Knicks fan, obviously his entire life and calling their games. Even Richard Jefferson, who I thought played for the Spurs. But anyway, I thought he sounded sad. Maybe they just wanted, like, oh, we're gonna have, like, a blow up. But, yeah, they were almost like. There was disappointment in their voices.
Tas Melas
No doubt.
Jay Skeets
Though Breen did call it. I shared the clip on my socials. Somewhere in the second quarter, when the spurs are up, like, 25 points, he does bring up the fact, like, you know, this is amazing for them, but lot of time left and teams sort of change how they play. Sometimes when they get a big lead, he literally sort of calls it. And then Jefferson even says, like, you know, yeah, it's on Mitch Johnson to keep the. Keep the team having their edge and stuff like that. And I thought his inexperience maybe showed a little bit, too. I know we were given the blame to Fox and Wemby. There was some like, what are you doing here, Mitch? Even just shots of him, he looked a little rattled and trying to stop maybe these runs and trying to manage the game a little bit and some decisions that were made. But, you know, that's me nitpicking now here, too.
Tas Melas
Yeah, maybe. Maybe it's maybe a tiny, tiny, tiny slice of the pie. But it goes to Fox and Wemby, I think, in the second half, primarily.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, well, yeah, Mitch is not out there, but it's who you're putting out there and.
Tas Melas
Yeah. But also, tell your guys, stop leaving
Jay Skeets
OG And Anobi in the cor. The guy doesn't miss right now. He doesn't miss.
Tas Melas
He's a special guy right now, especially
Jay Skeets
when he's in the corner. Don't leave him. Julian Champagne. There was one instance he'd, like, completely left og. It was sort of a semi transition. He left him to, like, go help Josh, like, on Josh Hart on the other side. Like, what are you doing? Don't leave him. So there's stuff like that where that's. That's on the coach. Yeah, Like, I. Like. I really do believe it's always the blame should go in a. In a meltdown like this or a choke, whatever we're calling it, the coach, the star player and the point guard, who, by the way is also the vet. Like it's. Those are the three I always turn to in situations like that. Those are like those are the three most important really on the basketball floor. Your star player, your leader, your point guard, who's sort of your leader and then. Yeah. Your coach who actually is your leader.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. And I mean coaching wise, I would say the main thing was he should have taken the ball out of Fox's hands. Yeah, Castle was more effective. Just Castle was. He wasn't like scoring efficiently but he was willing to put his head down and go draw a foul. That was huge. And Harper, he was turnover prone in the second half, I thought as well. But he was, he played a great game.
Jay Skeets
Amazing.
Trey Kirby
First was making his open threes as well. And just the confidence in Fox after the way he was booting the ball around in the third quarter. I don't know how you kept going back to him to initiate the offense. So that would be a question.
Jay Skeets
I would have had Dylan Harper played so well. He had Ron Harper showing Knicks fans, hey, I am wearing a Spurs shirt underneath this blue shirt. Thank you very much. I guess Shumpert was there beside Shumpert in his. In his Knicks Shumpert jersey. Jersey, yeah. Just in case he was going to be called upon from Mike Brown. Shump also hit the streets after. I don't know if you saw that out with the Knicks fans. Pretty cool.
Trey Kirby
So I heard this take last night. I was out watching this at a watch party.
Jay Skeets
Nice.
Trey Kirby
Is this the greatest finals game ever? I mean it's tough to say. It's a caught in the moment type thing, but I mean this was awesome entertainment for 48 minutes even in the first half. Knicks fans were sad for sure. But it was crazy to see the spurs shooting as well as they were making as many threes. They set the record for threes.
Jay Skeets
Wemby shit talking was fun. Totally. I mean it backfired, but it was fun.
Trey Kirby
It was cool. Like it was a great first half. And then in the second half we get the biggest comeback in finals history and what's going to go down most likely as the signature win for the knicks in their first title in 50 plus years. Yeah, I mean like this is an instant like one of the 10 best games in finals history. I would have to think of like
Jay Skeets
MJ's final game for the Bulls and the championship was awesome. Now it's not in Chicago, so it's not at home. He's got the OG like thing though, right, where he has the defensive play, the strip on Carl and then the game winner on Byron Russell. But yeah, it doesn't have a 29 point comeback. It doesn't have, you know, in Madison Square Garden, it is the Mecca for basketball and that crowd. So, yeah, I mean, that, that bumps it up for sure.
Tas Melas
Yeah. As far as a full game, I think OKC Indiana last year was more of a. Whoa, what's going on here? When Halberton gets hurt and they're still winning at half and they can't hold
Jay Skeets
it on the game seven.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, this, this is definitely going to be remembered before game one.
Jay Skeets
Halliburton game winner is pretty huge.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, and. Okay, excuse me. Golden State, Cleveland, game seven, that's ahead for sure. That's ahead. Game seven.
Trey Kirby
Game six, 1998 is ahead for sure. Game six, 2013 is ahead of this. Oh, yeah, probably, I would say.
Tas Melas
Yeah, probably.
Trey Kirby
It's like right there with it.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Leads to a game seven, which everybody forgets.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
It's up there, man. It's up there. But, you know, I guess you still see what happens here. I mean, I know, but it'll be remembered.
Tas Melas
It'll definitely feels like that this is the one that's going to be remembered from this series.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Tas Melas
If the Knicks pull it out, obviously, if the spurs somehow win 5, 6, 7, it's a different story.
Jay Skeets
Jesus. Jesus.
Tas Melas
That's hard work.
Jay Skeets
Okay, let's. Let's get into some random notes here, JD we don't need that. We'll just go to the random notes.
Trey Kirby
Somebody could say it.
Jay Skeets
Random. Yeah, random. Well, you already addressed it, but we had a celebrity row struggle montage when the Knicks were getting waxed, which was pretty epic. It was one for the ages here of just all the sad celebrities from Spike to, you know, Knicks alum there, Adam Sandler, Calipari, Ben Stiller doesn't even have his phone out at that moment. Poor Chris Rock. Oh, look at the woman beside him. Oh, my God. Incredible. And then we got, you know, there was the ones where they were elated later on and like running on the court.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, it's very funny to like to see the game go to zeros and they just start showing reactions from everybody. You're like, oh, nice. These are all my favorite comedians. They're having a great time out there. Great job. Adam Sandler, he's happy now. Jerry Seinfeld, he's happy now. That was the celebrity. Celebrity watching in general, I thought was pretty crazy because as the Knicks get back into the game, obviously everybody is standing on their feet. So you're literally watching, like, Larry David react to Josh Hart blow the layup. And he looks like an episode of Curb youb Enthusiasm. Like he's having a heart attack on the sideline on this crazy play. Or like, we'll. We obviously saw Taylor Swift quite a bit last night, but even when plays are happening, you can see her and Maritzka dancing and jumping together arm in arm. And you're, like, seeing these people you see on big screens just having fun as a normal basketball fan. That was amazing.
Tas Melas
Yeah. To go from that first half to that second half, I mean. Yeah, that's just a great juxtaposition because the first half sucked. Did you see Jerry Seinfeld's clip where he said this was like a game about nothing? You know, he was disappointed. Okay. He didn't say that. I just made that up. But Stefan Marbury, you know, he takes the. Takes the tie off in the second half. He went tireless because he was into it. Yeah, it was.
Jay Skeets
I keep thinking John Starks is going to get a technical foul called on the Knicks for, like, his, like, antics or whatever, his involvement on the base. He's on the record one where Castle, like, maybe I. Did we ever see a really good replay of him stepping out anyway, where Hart actually did prevent him and sort of use the baseline and they called it out on Castle. John Starks is like. He feels like he's in the play. Yeah, he's like, up under the rim. Like, you're out of bounds. You're out of bounds. Like, I mean, I don't know. Do they have to tell him, like, all right, man, you gotta stay back a little bit. Yeah, he does it. Everybody gets into it. It's great.
Tas Melas
But, yeah, he's right there.
Jay Skeets
Maybe cross a line. Literally across the line. A couple other random notes here. I laughed. We don't have a clip for this, but I was laughing. In retrospect, Mike Brown's pregame locker room speech was, quote, at the end of the day, it's about our starts. No, it's not.
Tas Melas
Again, one more time.
Trey Kirby
No, it's not.
Jay Skeets
No, it's not. At the end of the day, it
Trey Kirby
ended up being the finish, actually.
Jay Skeets
It's actually about the finish. Made me laugh so much. They just get killed in the first quarter.
Tas Melas
Yeah, that's why I made a note with Cat on the bench, and he came back and they're only down 13. I made a note, get down double digits in the first quarter, every game. All good. Here's a good thing for the Knicks no problem. I mean, then they got down 29.
Jay Skeets
We had back to back defensive. Three second violations called late in the first quarter. Mike Brain was dumbfounded. It's like, I don't think I've ever seen that. Very rare. There was both ends.
Trey Kirby
The first half was a lot of whistles, a lot of reviews. They were getting their calls in, I think, you know, with the Wemby, Jalen Brunson incident from game three, like, everybody was on high alert. We're calling it tight to start the game, which is why you're seeing these three seconds. You're seeing moving screens and yeah, we. We saw guys go into the review board a lot. Yeah, a lot of flagrant views. I couldn't believe the Alvarado one wasn't a flagrant, where he just.
Jay Skeets
I was a little shocked.
Trey Kirby
For a single leg takedown on Wemby. Basically, he lifts it up and sits him down. Just a weird play.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was very weird.
Trey Kirby
But I mean, I definitely thought Zack Zarbon was perhaps going to be assaulted last night, the way the first half was going. And it felt like every review was going against the Knicks as well.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, the only good thing for the officiating when, you know. Yeah, there was some, you know, questionable calls, again, going against the Knicks was then it just turned into such a lead. It was like, what are Knicks fans gonna say, man, you're just getting killed. Also, you're the ones with all the free throws and they're just hitting threes on your. In your eyes. So. Yeah, in the end, you know, in the end, it didn't have any impact.
Tas Melas
No, they didn't.
Jay Skeets
I don't think on it. I mean, again, that castle one, did he step out of bounds? I wasn't 100 sure he actually stepped out of bounds, but I didn't think there was a good replay. And then we were just moving on from it.
Tas Melas
Well, I guess the thing that would prove that is Adam Silver's AI that he talked about. That's what it is, right? The. The tennis court line, soccer goal line.
Jay Skeets
No, Adam Silver's AI is actually just Ben Stiller on his iPhone. We now go to Ben Stiller's. You up close shot here.
Tas Melas
Thought you were gonna say it's Pat McAfee. Whatever's happening on the Altcast, stuff is happening. Stuff's happening everywhere.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, it is.
Jay Skeets
I laughed at Jalen Brunson trying to hit a deep three before the spurs could hack a Mitch.
Trey Kirby
That was good.
Jay Skeets
When he knew it was coming and he just, like Fired it up, I think it went in, didn't it? And he's like, that should count. That should count. And they're like, no, no, no. They did. They were wrapping them up. Kirk Herbstreet, NBA slime, noted. He was sitting courtside, or he was standing courtside at this moment there when the game got pretty close. And he was without his dog, Peter, which is pretty rare. This is emotional support dog. And you don't see Kirk without the dog all that often. Oh, there we go. And I was like, oh, yeah, you don't here. Of course. I saw this tweet after I saw the next one from Quigs where there was a dog, and I honestly thought this was real. And I was like, wow, I missed this during the broadcast.
Tas Melas
The dog is huge.
Jay Skeets
What do you mean the dog's here? That's air, bud. Man, ain't no rules that a dog can't watch basketball.
Trey Kirby
But, yeah, we've seen an occasional courtside dog.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
But I would agree, never one the size of Peter.
Jay Skeets
Yes, Peter.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, you have to have a smaller dog, usually courtside. But I hadn't seen that until pre pro in the Classic Factory this morning. And I was like, what?
Jay Skeets
Trey thought it was real, too. I didn't see that dog last night,
Trey Kirby
so maybe I just missed it.
Jay Skeets
I'll admit, when I saw it, the first tweet, like, I said the dog tweet, I was like, what the hell?
Tas Melas
If there was a Scooby, maybe I'm buying it. But you gotta. Gotta be teeny tiny.
Jay Skeets
He does take that dog everywhere, though.
Tas Melas
Sure. Okay. I'm unaware of Kurt's status.
Jay Skeets
I like that. I do like the. Even though it's a Photoshop, the. The dog Peter looking at the other dog in Jalen Brunson. He's admiring that.
Tas Melas
Admiring him for sure.
Jay Skeets
That's what my Luna does when she sees another dog. We talked about Vic trolling Mitchell Robinson when he drew a flagrant foul. And he was doing the. I mean, your head. And this is what it was going great for the San Antonio Spurs. And when man, Yama is like, wow, he is. They are. We're going back two, two. And it's going to be a best of three, all momentum with San Antonio. But, yeah, obviously.
Trey Kirby
And look, I think at that point, he was probably right. It looked like the Knicks were going out of their way to take it to Victor in this one. And, you know, probably that's part of the reason Towns picks up his fouls. He was. Mitchell was not playing him very well at that Moment in time. But then, you know, the head game switched up.
Tas Melas
Yeah, he was in Mitchie's head, that's for sure. The whole cat thing with the. The grabbing of Wemby's arm, that ended up being overturned and being Cats foul.
Jay Skeets
Huge.
Tas Melas
God, I hated. I hated watching that because everybody's gonna grab arms.
Jay Skeets
Cat does that all the time.
Tas Melas
Yeah, that was.
Jay Skeets
I mean, he did. Yeah, he did grab him.
Tas Melas
He did grab, but it did not affect the play whatsoever. Wemby could easily get back because he got let go. He let go of his. Yeah, Wendy could have stayed in front of Cat. I just. First call against the Fox. Against the Fox. Against Fox. The defense. That's a foul. But that. That one was. Yuck. The pushing Luke Cornet's back. Sure.
Jay Skeets
Dumb.
Tas Melas
It was stupid. It was stupid.
Jay Skeets
I thought these were all dumb cat fouls, if I'm being honest. No reason for you to do the. The hook on him there. But he always does it.
Tas Melas
Yeah, they both do it.
Jay Skeets
This guy must have played hooky in high school all the time, man. This guy's the king of the hook. Captain Hook, Captain Clutch and Captain Hook.
Tas Melas
But there was a challenge was that it was a minute.
Jay Skeets
In a minute, and it worked and it was amazing. Yeah, exactly. Taylor Swift and the two Heim sisters sit in courtside in their Puntastic Knicks shirts. Now, they had a ball. I got to give it to them.
Tas Melas
Yep, they did.
Jay Skeets
Even when the knicks were down 20 and, like, chipping away, they were going nuts. They were having the time of their lives. But, you know, you see the shirts there. So we have a Nickelback, obviously, Nicks related pun. Stevie Nicks on Taylor and then Nicole Kidman. And I didn't like this because, you know, you got two artists and then you got an actor. Like, what are you doing? Yeah, like, see the bit out, you know, all go with Nick Pun's artists. You know, like, there's so many, too.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, exactly. You either gotta. I think you gotta switch out Nicole Kidman.
Jay Skeets
I'm with you.
Trey Kirby
Or switch out Nickelback for something that's not music related.
Tas Melas
Related.
Trey Kirby
Stevie, Nick's the perfect shirt.
Jay Skeets
That's a very good. That's why Taylor was wearing it. Exactly. I'm taking the best.
Trey Kirby
The best one. Bring another one for Maritzka. There's a photo of Maritza Hargitay just wearing a black T shirt at the beginning of the game.
Jay Skeets
I know.
Trey Kirby
But also there's video of Heim sister walking and carrying an extra shirt. So did they bring it for her on Purpose.
Jay Skeets
Yes.
Trey Kirby
That's really thoughtful.
Jay Skeets
That's very nice of them. But she put it on, I don't
Trey Kirby
know, like, I don't know, another musical artist that I would sub in for. Nicole Kidman.
Jay Skeets
Can I give you some options?
Trey Kirby
Please?
Tas Melas
Listen, they're supporting her in her divorce. Nicole Kidman going through her divorce.
Jay Skeets
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
Tas Melas
Yes. I think. I don't know if it's connected in somehow to Tennessee, where Taylor Swift is from, because it was a Tennessee filing. Yeah. No idea on that. On that side of things. Does she know legally what's happening
Jay Skeets
the Charlie Day?
Tas Melas
Like they're supporting somebody. They're supporting her, and they're enjoying themselves. They're jumping in high heels. They're jumping.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. No, but there are. There are. There's a lot of other options I think they could have gone with for the third Knicks pun on a musical artist. Nick Jonas.
Trey Kirby
Simple, Simple Nick.
Jay Skeets
Daddy said a trick Daddy. If you want Slick Nick. Nick Cave in the Bad Seeds. Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees. Cheap Nick, or. I think I would have gone with this one. Sir Nix A Lot. That's not bad.
Trey Kirby
Sir Nix A Lot is really.
Jay Skeets
That would look good on the shirt. I think it's better than Nicole Kidman. I'm sorry. She's going through a divorce. Divorce.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Possibly filed in Tennessee.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah. Looks like it was filed in Tennessee. I don't just make stuff up. That's. That's your guy. Tom Cruz. Nicole.
Jay Skeets
Tom Cruz. My God.
Tas Melas
Keith Urban.
Jay Skeets
Definitely not my guys. My guys, nor Nicole's appear on Tom Cruise.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Can't believe Nicole and Keith Urban are getting divorced.
Tas Melas
They are. Yeah. This is recently. That's why it.
Trey Kirby
That's sad.
Tas Melas
It makes sense. Makes sense for Taylor because it's definitely. That's a couple months ago. Sir Mix A Lot was just not a good podcast.
Jay Skeets
I do believe Sir Nix A Lot is pretty good. Come on.
Tas Melas
That was Rick. That was Ric Flair. You missed your friend Ric Flair. Yeah. You missed your. You love Ric Flair.
Jay Skeets
I do.
Tas Melas
He was on the Finalis podcast live. They did a live show. It wasn't a live show with Rick.
Jay Skeets
What?
Tas Melas
Yes.
Jay Skeets
Incredible. Incredible. Any other random notes, guys?
Trey Kirby
I think it's random that you're claiming Ric Flair is your guy, but not Tom Cruise. You're like, no, not Tom Cruise.
Jay Skeets
Yes. Way more of a Ric Flair guy than I am a Tom Cruise guy.
Tas Melas
What?
Jay Skeets
Have I ever talked about Tom Cruise?
Tas Melas
I guess you reference him.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, he runs funny.
Trey Kirby
Wendy did have some funnies offensive rebounds in this Game. Oh yeah, he had a, he had that play where they threw a lob
Jay Skeets
to him and he tipped it to
Trey Kirby
himself and then finished on the other side. That was pretty crazy. And then the one offensive rebound he had where he was standing underneath the basket and just reached back and grabbed it in front of everybody else. That was cool.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, he had, he had. I guess it was RJ mainly twice in this game I feel is like only he can do that. Well, maybe him and Jokic. There was a lot of talk about like the, that type of maneuvering with the ball, the sort of the, the water polo vibes of, of at least Jokic. But yeah, those were some pretty, pretty incredible plays that only, probably only Wemby can do. And maybe you'll get ya.
Tas Melas
Yes. And I've forgotten because the next one.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Yes.
Jay Skeets
I have one more thing I wanted to share. My buddy TST tweeted this last night and I was like, damn, there's a lot of truth to this hero. We just witnessed one of the greatest NBA Finals games ever. And it was an NCAA game. Way too many reviews and timeouts. Chaos and dumb plays down the stretch. Choking away a huge lead due to poor execution played at Madison Square Garden. Coach Cal on the sidelines. Villanova with the win.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I was like, wow, that check, check, check, check, check. They did have some March Madness like scenarios happening in this game.
Tas Melas
Totally. Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Good tweet.
Tas Melas
They're making me have basketball dreams, that's for sure. When I Woke up at 7:30 today, Chris Paul was in my dream. I don't know what he was doing. I don't know why, but every. What was he doing? I don't know. I couldn't tell you. I'm not going to tell you my whole dream, but Chris Paul was in it. All I'm saying is, you know you got these late, late game, late night games. Oh yeah, they're, they're just, they're just with you.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. The pulse today. It was like that game last night was like watching Uncut Gems. So I was like, that's pretty good too. Just like the, all the anxiety.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
On edge the entire time as they're coming back. Anything else?
Trey Kirby
I love, I love to slap a chair or something when a big shot happens. Isn't that cool?
Tas Melas
Thank you.
Jay Skeets
Right.
Tas Melas
I like your honesty like in the moment. Well, how you, how you're feeling?
Trey Kirby
Like, like I'm thinking like even like Vesel, I think like hit a pull up three to maybe like get the spurs lead back up to 20.
Tas Melas
Just right.
Trey Kirby
That just feels so good when a. When a momentous moment happens. Hard slap. Nothing better than a hard slap.
Jay Skeets
To. To answer your question that we didn't address early on, you asked, I don't know what your wives were doing, but Nora was asleep. She had gone to bed. What I like to do is I go wake up my wife and say, oh, yeah, the Knicks came back. Yeah, OG Anunoby. Our boy OG because she's obviously a Raptors fan. He's the hero. Unbelievable play. And she wasn't mad. Nora seems to be cheering for the Knicks in this series. She said, good. She's like, trump wasn't there. Right. That was the first thing she said. I'm like, he wasn't there. That's right. She's like, that's why he won't.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I hear you.
Jay Skeets
Yep.
Tas Melas
Same thing happened to me. Danielle woke me up and she said, what happened in the game? I told her that the Knicks won. She said, what? She was upset. She wanted. She wanted to see a comeback. Well, don't go to bed.
Jay Skeets
Stay up.
Tas Melas
Don't go to bed. And then I had to tell her about OG Anunoby. She said, who OG OG Been doing a lot of things for the Toronto Raptors for a long time. He was an NBA champion. Okay. He didn't really play in the championship, but he is a champion. Maybe times two.
Jay Skeets
Potentially. Potentially. All right, let's take a break, and when we come back, we'll. We'll talk quickly about ratings, and we'll do well. Boy.

Trey Kirby
The biggest stage in world soccer starts today. And every goal changes everything. It's my favorite Lauryn Hill song. Every goal changes everything. And now fandom is giving you a reason to root for every single one they're introducing. Every goal pays. Bet on a match and you get bonus bets for every goal scored in that match. We have one today.
Jay Skeets
That's right.
Trey Kirby
We have a match today.
Jay Skeets
No, we have two.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, in four hours. We have two matches today and one of them is Mexico versus South Africa.
Jay Skeets
It's the first one.
Trey Kirby
Do you know who the favorite is on the board to score a goal?
Jay Skeets
You don't know Jose. I'm just going to take a wild stab at it. Am I right?
Tas Melas
Oh, man, come on.
Jay Skeets
You're all thinking it.
Tas Melas
Yeah, that's exactly who I was thinking.
Jay Skeets
Raul.
Trey Kirby
He's a plus 440. But I like this. No goal scorer is a bet you can make.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, no, that's not happening.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, but there's got to be some games.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
I mean, come on. Home nation hyped up.
Jay Skeets
It's going to be a. It's going to be a movie, man. Cinema.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I'm excited. I'm legit pumped. Watch this. For sure.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah. When you say movie, that's. That's who I was thinking. I was thinking of Coco. The guy could score here. Remember me, Coco? That's what I'm gonna say.
Jay Skeets
We are going crazy. You can tell we were up way too late.
Tas Melas
But I actually thought of that when I saw a Mexico World cup soccer shirt because they've got the. The cocoa vibes. You know, the Mexican art vibes. Anyway, yeah.
Jay Skeets
Aren't you going to like. I guess it's a World cup related concert tonight. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Going to see my. My good friend Big Boy do some songs.
Jay Skeets
Big Boy putting on his show.
Trey Kirby
That's why I wore this hat today. I want to support Big Boy.
Jay Skeets
Nice.
Trey Kirby
I'm wearing an Atlanta Braves fitted to see Big Boy.
Jay Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melas
That's true. That fine with you got to wear it. You get same hat you wore this morning as the one you're going to wear at night. What time is the show?
Jay Skeets
Oh, it's like seven o'. Clock. You're right.
Trey Kirby
I have this hat on a long time.
Jay Skeets
Why is that weird? Why wouldn't he wear a hat all day?
Tas Melas
Well, same hat. You're gonna wear it, right? It's like he's wearing it now.
Jay Skeets
Is this a thing? I don't wear hats.
Tas Melas
I was a hat now to support Big Boy at night. Where's the Big Boy?
Jay Skeets
Might be watching. I think that's the reasoning.
Tas Melas
That's an A for Big Boy.
Jay Skeets
Will guaranteed have a hat on tonight.
Trey Kirby
That's what I'm thinking.
Jay Skeets
He always has a lot of the time.
Tas Melas
Times that will Andre show up?
Trey Kirby
No, no, I doubt it. No impromptu reunion.
Jay Skeets
Little flute drops.
Trey Kirby
A little flute hat on. He won't wear a Braves hat.
Tas Melas
No, he'll wear like he used to
Trey Kirby
wear a Braves hat.
Tas Melas
Wear like a big, big hat. Like a beret sort of. Right. Or a big old, big old knit.
Jay Skeets
That's right. Big Boy and Big Nit might be performing tonight. Sorry. Go, go. Yes. Get through this ad.
Trey Kirby
That's right. More goals mean more bets.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, more.
Trey Kirby
More goals means more bets.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
No, no, no.
Jay Skeets
More goals means more bonus. Oh, yeah. Okay.
Trey Kirby
And all you have to do is turn on your token. Visit FanDuel.com to get started. Now. Let there be goals on FanDuel.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, let there be goals. I think. Okay. Didn't Mexico and South Africa start a World cup before? Is that crazy? Maybe in South Africa. That would make sense.
Trey Kirby
Interesting. As a host.
Tas Melas
As a host.
Jay Skeets
I think so.
Tas Melas
That makes sense.
Jay Skeets
I think they started it off. Maybe running it back here in. In Mexico, though. That'll be fun.
Tas Melas
All right, Diagelos, Muertos.
Jay Skeets
We got it.
Tas Melas
Someone's dying.
Jay Skeets
Okay, let's talk quickly about this. Game three of the NBA Finals drew the largest television audience for a Finals game in more than a quarter century. Averaging 23.8 million viewers on ABC and ESPN platforms, the matchup became the most watched finals game since 98, when the Bulls faced the Jazz in Michael Jordan's final championship run with Chicago. This thing peaked at 26.3 million at 11:15pm Eastern, according to figures released on Wednesday. This is good. This is great. People tuning in for this. You know, I don't know if it's. I guess it's a couple things, right. It's the Wemby factor has to play a part. This sort of global phenomenon, the next big thing, people want to see it. That's cool. And then, of course, New York City's population, their die hard fan base trying to win a championship for the first time in 50 years, all comes together. In addition to these contests being extremely close and very exciting competitive games, I think that's probably how you get to a. A huge number like this, which you just don't see all that often anymore. At least, you know, I mean, super bowl, sure. Football, yeah. But this is big.
Trey Kirby
That's long.
Jay Skeets
It's a lot. A lot of millions.
Tas Melas
That's a lot of millions. A long time. I guess the wimy factor has to be a big part because I also saw this stat released from the NBA Game 2, the most watched NBA Finals Game 2 since 2018. So, you know, nearly a decade, there's been some big names in between then and now. So the Wemby factor has to be a big.
Jay Skeets
The Wemby would be. Absolutely. And the idea that these are really close games, I think helps.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
So that's good to see.
Tas Melas
Well, I mean, nice exposure right there.
Trey Kirby
I was thinking great exposures.
Jay Skeets
What will, what will the. The rating say for Game four?
Tas Melas
Because, like, going to die off.
Jay Skeets
I know. I was like, is it going to be lower? Yeah. Is it going to be totally lower or will there be a higher P? I don't know.
Trey Kirby
I mean, I think you would have to. You can't deny Game three also had a certain person in attendance.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
People certainly would have tuned in for. To be on either side of watching him get booed.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
So that certainly factored in. And you know, game three was the first finals game that Knicks had had in 30 years, basically. So that's part of it, but I was impressed. Largest televised audience since the Super bowl on February 8th. Now, I guess Olympics opening ceremony was prior to February 8th, but that means it outdrew everything else Olympics wise after the super bowl, which was kind of surprising to me.
Jay Skeets
It's a good sign regardless of the reason. Let's hope we keep going up, up, up and maybe we get some more games here. Of the night sponsored by Orlando. Juarez Vitella wants to shout out his older brother Francisco for his birthday on the 12th, which is tomorrow. He's an OG basketball Jones listener and the one who made made Orlando a starters fan. And he also writes I am also 100 down to send y' all some coffee beans from my buddy's roastery if you'd like.
Tas Melas
We're ready. We're ready.
Trey Kirby
Orlando, give us your beans.
Jay Skeets
We'd love those coffee beans.
Tas Melas
Thank you. Happy birthday to Francisco. Orlando didn't even promote his website. Juarez Vision. He just cares about Francisco.
Jay Skeets
Respect to you, his brother, man.
Tas Melas
Excuse me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
But his buddy's roastery.
Tas Melas
His brother buddy's Roastery. Yes.
Jay Skeets
We'll take you up on those beans. We love beans.
Trey Kirby
Buddy's beans.
Jay Skeets
OG Anunoby is your woah boy. Winner for last night. You know, Brunson obviously got there with a lot of points, but come on, a playoff career high 33 points including the game winning tip in to give The Knicks the 3:1 lead in the finals. Incredibly efficient. 10 of 15 from the field, 7 of 9 from deep, 6 of 6 at 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Contributed Four boards, one steal and that one block on deer and fox in 41 minutes played. I had to triple check this this morning too. That was OG's first offensive rebound of the finals. The one where he comes screaming in from the heavens. Tip it in.
Trey Kirby
Timing is everything.
Jay Skeets
Exactly, exactly.
Tas Melas
He's a monster at getting back. He always gets back and he does a great job of that, that's for sure.
Jay Skeets
He does indeed. Can I give you also an insane stat about og? I saw this from CBS Sports. OG and Anobi joined Steph Curry, Kobe Bryant, Reggie Miller and Klay Thompson as the only players in NBA Finals history with at least 60 points and 10 threes in a two game span. OG's name on that list with some of the greatest three point shooters this game has ever seen is pretty remarkable. Yeah, Curry, Kobe, Reggie clay and now OG. 60 points, 10 threes over a two game span in the finals after being
Tas Melas
hurt earlier this postseason, comes on back.
Jay Skeets
Good point.
Tas Melas
Five threes in the second half. Yeah. Step back is mean. You know, they're not just open shots. He's not just catching shots too.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. He's now second on odds for finals MVP on the duel plus 250 behind Brunson.
Jay Skeets
Wow. I mean I think it's. Yeah, it's still up in the air. It's pro. You know, obviously if you think the Knicks are going to win, it's going to be one of those two guys at this point.
Tas Melas
Oh yeah.
Jay Skeets
Brunson or OG you know, I think Kat's obviously probably falling off a little bit. That's fine. Who has a, you know, can OG maintain sort of what he's done here? If they want in game five on the road again, does Brunson have another huge game in them? Yeah, that's a, that's a bit of a coin flip to me. Even though like we said OG was like plus 6000 or whatever he was at the start of the series. Like ah. Is that like a nigga dollar possibility? A young Kawhi possibility? Yes. The answer is yes. It's in play. Can pull it off.
Tas Melas
Yeah. I still think it goes to Jalen Brunson. Just because there isn't. You don't think of, oh, he just shut down one player like Iguodala did against LeBron, even though I didn't shut him down. But that type of thing.
Jay Skeets
Well, we, we said. When I was saying, hey, that's a nice pick there for OG for Finals mvp. A part of the narrative was OG shutting down Wemby, which we thought we might see a lot more of.
Trey Kirby
Right.
Jay Skeets
And that is something obviously they really haven't implemented. Now. He's been great defensively, all these chase down blocks, what he did on Fox.
Tas Melas
Absolutely.
Jay Skeets
He's awesome. He's an elite two way player. It's all the scoring that he's coming through here.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
But yeah, he jumped.
Tas Melas
He jumped.
Jay Skeets
I think if Brunson had a garbage game five and the Knicks won and OG went for 25 and whatever, hitting five more three, I think he could easily win it. And I don't think it would be egregious by any means.
Tas Melas
I think it's Brunson's.
Trey Kirby
Hey, but hey, yeah, I mean Brunson's at 35 and 5 right now. That's pretty good.
Tas Melas
It was fun for me. I was thinking about OG Anunoby as the game ended. I went to FanDuel to see what the. Where the. The lines move and they put that little lock icon as on each name as they decide, okay, where are we going with these numbers? And yeah, he has jumped incredibly as you said, Trey plus 250 now and Carl Anthony Towns has gone the other direction at +3300 now when he was. Yeah, he was up there with Jalen Brunson after two games.
Jay Skeets
All right, we'll call it there. The boys are buzzing. Hopefully you are as well. Hopefully. This was a classic that lived up to an incredible game for. But you tell us by hitting the like button, by subscribing, by leaving your boys a five star rating and review commenting away on YouTube, Spotify, social media. Your thoughts on incredible comeback slash, you know, meltdown from the Spurs. Definitely, definitely chucking them. We're going in hard on the spurs after the game and yeah, I mean it has to be a bit of both, right, for a comeback like that to happen. But what a game. We will be back on those. Well, we back tomorrow. What am I talking about? Today's Thursday. We're back tomorrow with a report from the Big Boy concert. Oh yeah, this guy wearing the same hat all day. So we'll talk about that. We will talk about obviously looking forward to game five on Saturday night. Maybe worse the week. Anything else going on in the NBA. Hell, we'll probably talk World Cup.
Trey Kirby
I mean if Raul Jimenez nets one. Of course we will.
Jay Skeets
That's right. That's right. We're gonna have some fun on the Drop podcast. So join us at 10am Eastern live here from the Classic Factory. Until then, Clipper Bros. You heard it here first. Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys.
Trey Kirby
Awesome.
Tas Melas
Thanks for joining us. And remember the ESPN crew pulled out the Falcons logo post game. Did you see that? Because of the. Yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
28 to 3.
Tas Melas
Have to mention that here because we're in Atlanta. How do you feel about that? Was that cutthroat? I mean just pulling that out. Here it is.
Trey Kirby
I didn't know they do that.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I mean it was part of their postgame little. Here's the tweet. You know that thing. Yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
I mean, yeah, similar.
Jay Skeets
It's similar. It's similar now. At least for the spurs. They're not done. You know, that was Super Bowl. That was the final game.
Trey Kirby
You only get one chance.
Jay Skeets
So.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Tas Melas
And you only get one crew. Who would do that? We would do it. But also the ESPN group, ESPN over NBC and Amazon. I guess maybe Amazon would do it. Okay, that's a debate for another day
Jay Skeets
Race the day people see you tomorrow.
