Good morning, sweet world, and welcome to the no Dunks podcast presented by FanDuel. It's Tuesday, June 2, 2026. I'm J. Skeets here in the Classic Factory, aka NBA podcast row. And alongside me as always, Tas Melis.
Tas Melis
Podcast listeners, this is for you.
J. Skeets
Next to him, it's my top shot, hot boy Trey Kirby Ayo. Hey yo. And over yonder, making the magic happen. Super producer jd.
Tas Melis
Hello.
J. Skeets
There he is. Here we are. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Hit the like button. Subscribe podcast listeners, five star ratings and reviews. I should say hello to everyone on X as well. I think we're simulcasting now to the old Twitter platform. So hello and good morning to you as well. We had a fun show I think here today. But we start with some sad news from yesterday. Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Adelman has died. He was 79 years old. Adelman won more than 1,000 games over the course of a nearly 30 year career basketball lifer here. He served as the head coach for the Blazers, Warriors, Kings, Rockets and Timberwolves. Coach was inducted into the hall of fame in 2021 and again 1042 wins tasks the 10th most in NBA history.
Tas Melis
He was admired by a lot of people. Listening to all the quotes yesterday players of his like Kyle Lowry who said how much Adelman poured into him and Lowry said it was if it wasn't for him I don't know what career I would have. Guys like Clyde Drexler called him an absolute gentleman, a pr, A prince of a guy. Kind words for Adelman all around. Even Eric Spolstra saying that he admired him and a big reason to why he became the coach that he is. So lots of love for Rick Adam.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, you mentioned one of only 11 coaches ever with a thousand or more WINS. And the first time I knew about Rick Adelman was like 1992 finals when he was coaching the Blazers and the dude coached like so many cool teams. The early 90s Blazers were very cool. The early 2000s Kings were like everybody's second favorite team and a lot of people's first favorite team. And then even coached the Tracy McGrady Yao Ming Rockets who went on that 22 game winning streak in 2008. Not to mention the Timberwolves after that. The warriors in the mix as well. But yeah, Rick Adelman coached cool teams beloved and was around for like basically my entire basketball life.
J. Skeets
Yeah, definitely hold a special place in Kings fans. Eight seasons there as head coach they made the playoffs in every single season. That's not something we say a lot with the Sacramento Kings, but when he was coaching they did. And yeah, his style of basketball was very fun. You know, basically known as the greatest show on the court. So I saw King's Herald writing yesterday this idea that there should be probably a tribute to Coach Adelman there in the Golden One center, because few people have meant as much to Sacramento Kings basketball as Coach did. So our condolences to the Adelman family. He's got 12 grandchildren and all his former players and family and friends. So tough news there yesterday in the NBA world. We will pivot, though, to something a lot more fun as we get ready for the NBA Finals. We did our huge mega preview yesterday, so you can go check that out. Link is in the show notes. Talking an hour about all the X's and O's and X factors and things to watch, all that. But today, guys, stop me if you've heard this already. It's time to party like it's 1999. Because the new York Knicks and San Antonio spurs have advanced to these Finals. The Knicks first appearance in the finals since 99 when they lost to the spurs in five games. So it's 1999 this, it's 1999 that. So I figured, hey, bit of a down day here. Yep. Let's do some 1999 trivia. Yeah, that's right. We are going to do this trivia a little differently than we normally do. Yeah, baby. Making you honey. Steve Austin.
Trey Kirby
Steve Austin. Danger Powers. What a great costume that would be.
J. Skeets
Wow. Think anybody was doing that back in 99?
Trey Kirby
I would hope so.
Tas Melis
Probably.
J. Skeets
Probably. If you did that, send in a photo. Okay, so we're doing this trivia a little bit more Jeopardy style, if you want to call it that. Maybe I was inspired by Mina Kimes and her big win there on Celebrity Jeopardy. The two of you are gonna battle it out. Okay? But instead of a buzzer, it's gonna be your name. Okay? So if you know the answer, you say Trey, you say Tess.
Trey Kirby
Okay, we both got one syllable.
J. Skeets
Nice. Well, hey, look, this was JD's idea. I consulted with him. I gotta say their name. I'm like, yeah, that works. You know, quick name. Both start with a T. I like it. So that's your buzzer. I have three questions across five different categories. Now, the questions generally get a little harder as we go on in each category. We're not going to worry about dollar values, though, because that's just going to be too hard to keep track of. But I will keep a tally of how many you get correct. I'm going to show you guys right now and the audience our five distinct categories that you'll be able to pick from. Okay? They are 1999 movies.
Trey Kirby
This is Jeopardy.
J. Skeets
1999 sports.
Tas Melis
Awesome.
J. Skeets
1999 world events. 1999, pop culture. And the final category. 1999 Je. Skets. All right, great. Excellent task.
Tas Melis
Nobody knew you in 1999. That's a tough, tough category.
J. Skeets
I've done 20 years of podcasting, though. I've shared everything there is to absolutely know about me. Probably 10 times over in terms of ripping myself.
Tas Melis
We have secrets. We all have secrets.
J. Skeets
We all have secrets. You are definitely an enigma. Me, not so much. But I'm just going to start with you. You're going to have the first crack at the category. You're closest to me. So pick whatever category you want, Tess. And then it's open ended. You guys will be buzzing in with your name. Okay.
Tas Melis
All right, let's sports it up.
J. Skeets
Okay. All right, so I'm just going to always go 1, 2, 3. So they'll sort of get harder, I guess. First one here.
Tas Melis
We don't have to answer like a question though.
J. Skeets
No, no, we don't have to do that either. Now there's more. That's more generic. Okay, here we go. First one in sports. Due to a lockout, the 9899 NBA regular season was just 50 games long. Who led the league in scoring that year? And I'm looking for the points per game leader. Okay, so 9899 points per game leader.
Tas Melis
Trey.
J. Skeets
Goal.
Trey Kirby
Allen Iverson.
J. Skeets
Ding. Allen Iverson is correct. I had to clarify points per game because Shaq actually scored more total points. Just. Oh, wow. Yeah, nice. Just. But Iverson, 26.8 points per game. All right, little tick there for Trey. Now got to make sure I cross off the list. Okay.
Tas Melis
Wow.
Trey Kirby
You gotta be control over Ken Jennings and the producers running the board. Eat your heart out, Reese from NBA. Nobody does the board like je skates. Give me 99. Pop culture.
J. Skeets
Okay, yeah, that's probably a strong suit here for Trey, usually. Okay, what 1999 Nintendo game. Featured characters from across multiple video game franchises.
Trey Kirby
1999.
J. Skeets
Yes. Multiple video game franchises. I'm going to give a hint right here too. A fighting game. Trey, go ahead.
Trey Kirby
Street Fighter versus Marvel.
J. Skeets
Tess, we can have a crack at it.
Trey Kirby
Well, do we tough?
Tas Melis
Do we deduct a point for. For incorrect answers? No. You thought.
J. Skeets
No. No, we don't.
Tas Melis
So just take a multiple franchises, as in non fighting plus a fighting.
J. Skeets
I said fighting. It's a fighting game.
Tas Melis
Okay, we'll just go Street Fighter versus Mortal Kombat.
J. Skeets
Trey, how about, you know, it's Super Smash Brothers. Super Smash Brothers. The Multiple. You know, your Marios. And yours. Your Zelda people.
Trey Kirby
I don't even know.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. There's a lot of games. I never played that.
J. Skeets
But of course you know the game. Come on. All right. That's all right.
Trey Kirby
It's like GameCube.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Okay. I'm going to stick with you, Trey. You have control the board stuff.
Trey Kirby
Let's stick with pop culture.
J. Skeets
Okay, next one here. What was the puntastic Name of Blink 182 smash hit album released in 1999?
Trey Kirby
Trash. Take off your pants and jacket.
J. Skeets
Incorrect. Oh, no. Oh, my God. He got too cocky. Tasks.
Tas Melis
I don't remember it, quite honestly. I even looked at it mere months ago when a Blink 281 was performing here in. In Georgia.
J. Skeets
What's Blink 2 cover band.
Tas Melis
The Blink 182.
Trey Kirby
That's a good one.
Tas Melis
No, I honestly don't.
J. Skeets
Trey, do you want to.
Trey Kirby
I don't.
J. Skeets
It's the. It's the COVID with the nurse.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Tas Melis
Yeah.
J. Skeets
So that's a bit of a giveaway, man.
Trey Kirby
Hello, nurse.
J. Skeets
That's Animaniacs Enema of the State on Enemy of this Dude Ranch.
Trey Kirby
Is that a Blink 182 record?
J. Skeets
Maybe. Yeah, that's before, I think. Yeah, that's before they sort of really got popular. Okay. That's all right.
Trey Kirby
TRL at the top of trl.
J. Skeets
I didn't say these are easy, Trey. Still control.
Trey Kirby
We gotta change it up. Let's go to Je. Skeets. 1999. Skeets.
J. Skeets
Okay, here we go. Did a lot of partying in 1999. Gotta be honest. I became a legal drinking age. Not that I wasn't doing it before, but we partied a lot at our friend Ken's house. What did we call? Ken's basement.
Tas Melis
I know it has something. I do not know. Oh, I thought there's something to do with a cardboard house or something in there. You guys.
J. Skeets
You got.
Tas Melis
Somebody slept in a cardboard house.
J. Skeets
Hold on. We're in Stratford still. We're still in Stratford. Ken's basement. You're thinking cardboard house? That's Toronto. That was Paul's house.
Tas Melis
That's when people moved. Yeah, we moved up in the world. We got a cardboard house. We slept in the basement of Ken Angeles.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melis
In the city of Stratford, Ontario.
J. Skeets
Does anybody want to take a crack at it? Trey. Okay.
Trey Kirby
Dude ranch.
J. Skeets
I mean, a lot of the times it was.
Trey Kirby
I gotta guess.
J. Skeets
A lot of video games. No. Can I. I'm gonna give you a hint. Like there's some. Some rhyme work at play. Here, I guess.
Tas Melis
Late night fight. I mean, I don't know.
Trey Kirby
Ken's pen.
J. Skeets
That's correct.
Trey Kirby
What?
J. Skeets
Yes. Come on, you've heard it called Ken's pen a million times. Of course. Why would you remember that? Okay, but he doesn't get that. He doesn't get the points. This is tough. All right, Trey, board is still yours.
Trey Kirby
We've got one right so far. All right, let's go back to sports. We got a chance here.
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah. In your wheelhouse. All right, here we go. Sports. 1999, the New York Yankees swept the Atlanta Braves to win the World Series. In 1999, which pitcher was named MVP of the Fall Classic? Trey, go ahead.
Trey Kirby
Andy Pettit
J. Skeets
Tass. There you go. You take your time.
Tas Melis
Starting pitcher for the Yanks. Oh, it was a bullpen.
J. Skeets
Hold on. Which pitcher was named MVP of the Fall Classic?
Tas Melis
Oh, not a Braves. Not a praise pitcher.
J. Skeets
I'm trying.
Trey Kirby
He's telling you. He's telling you the answer.
J. Skeets
Task. I need an answer in why. Five seconds.
Trey Kirby
They got the greatest closer in the history of closing games.
Tas Melis
Oh, Mariano Rivera. You don't need to. You didn't need to do that.
J. Skeets
I caught you because you said starting pitcher. But I didn't.
Tas Melis
Yeah, I still would have gotten there.
J. Skeets
I don't know. We'll give it to task. You got control. Let me give you some stats.
Tas Melis
You're a team lost and you don't remember that's your team.
Trey Kirby
No, I remember them losing. I absolutely do. I. I would have guessed Petit, also a Hall of Famer, was the. The MVP. Maybe he has another MVP.
J. Skeets
He might actually. But Mariano River Rivera. One win, two saves with a 0.00 ERA over three appearances, pitched 4.2 scoreless innings. And I think it was important cuz it was a sweep. But it was a close sweep, if that makes sense. Like they were a lot of competitive games. Very, very tight. So okay, one, one test, very tight. You got control the board. Every category still has an answer.
Tas Melis
How many questions do we have per category?
J. Skeets
Three times. Five.
Tas Melis
Okay. Yeah, we'll finish off sports.
J. Skeets
Okay, Sports. Final one in this category. There's no daily doubles. By the way, that's. It just gets too video.
Trey Kirby
Daily double. Matt Bonner reading a question.
J. Skeets
That would have been cool. I just thought of this yesterday, so I didn't have a lot of time. Okay, this is your final question in sports. This American men's tennis player finished 1999 ranked number one by the ATP. It would be his only year end number one title despite winning eight majors in his career, eight major tests.
Tas Melis
Go ahead, Andy Roddick. That's too many.
J. Skeets
Correct. That's not a bad guess though. 99 though. I think you're. I think Andy Roddick's a little later,
Trey Kirby
but yeah, I guess he's not much later. I just had a conversation at the pool about men's tennis and Andy Roddick is still the most recent American to win any of the four majors. That's in 25 years ago.
J. Skeets
Okay, so it was soon after this then.
Trey Kirby
Okay, so not too bad. Who else Was good in 1999?
J. Skeets
American men's tennis player.
Trey Kirby
American men's tennis player. Agassi.
J. Skeets
Correct. Way to talk it out. Way to get there. Yes, that's right.
Trey Kirby
Sampras always had him.
J. Skeets
He did. He had so a long, long stretch again. It's sort of funny. He did win eight majors, but only once in tennis. They do this like year end number one. Like you had it and Agassi had it in 99. J. Skeets
All right, sports are done, guys.
Trey Kirby
Sports are done.
J. Skeets
Which is the only category we've gotten, correct? Is that right?
Tas Melis
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Okay.
Trey Kirby
Oh, yeah.
J. Skeets
Two for three. So now it's movies. You at world events. You got one. Pop culture left.
Trey Kirby
And World event.
J. Skeets
Okay, yeah, good idea. Good idea. All right. Who was President of the United States of America in 1999?
Tas Melis
Simple as that.
J. Skeets
I wish they said that on Jeopardy. Before they busted. Simple as that. Ken. Buzz. Is that your butt? No. You haven't said your name yet.
Tas Melis
I mean, Trey.
J. Skeets
Go ahead.
Tas Melis
This is your country.
Trey Kirby
Bill Clinton.
J. Skeets
It's correct.
Tas Melis
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Yeah. You know, it sounds simple, but then you start going, is. Was he? Yeah. Yes.
Tas Melis
Who else would you say? I mean, George won it a year later.
J. Skeets
He won it a year later. That's right. Why didn't you say that?
Trey Kirby
Did he win it a year later?
Tas Melis
Really?
J. Skeets
Makes sense.
Tas Melis
Florida says yes.
Trey Kirby
Florida says they did.
J. Skeets
All right, three. One for Trey right now. And you have control of the board.
Trey Kirby
Movies.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Trey Kirby
Sure.
J. Skeets
Okay, back to movies. Our first movies. All right. Again, they start easy and get a little harder. What was the highest grossing film of 1999? Trey. Have a go.
Trey Kirby
Phantom Menace.
J. Skeets
Correct. Star Wars. Episode one. The Phantom Menace.
Tas Melis
Nice.
J. Skeets
You want to guess this is not a bonus point or anything, but what do you think it grossed worldwide in 99.
Trey Kirby
I mean, people would have been very excited, very excited that it was coming back? 2.8 billion.
J. Skeets
Okay. A little too High. But that's an insane number. That's a crazy number. 924 million.
Trey Kirby
Oh, wow. Yeah.
J. Skeets
And 200 million. Clear a second place. It opened to 64 million the first weekend, grossed over 1 million domestically for 61 consecutive days. So, yeah, people were hyped about this. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Long time, no Star Wars. Longest Star wars break, I would imagine. Is that right, JD From Jedi to Phantom Menace.
J. Skeets
Okay, Trey has taken a commanding lead here.
Trey Kirby
How about.
J. Skeets
There are questions to go. Go ahead.
Trey Kirby
World events.
J. Skeets
Okay, back to world events. Woodstock 99, held at an Air Force base in Rome, New York, did not have a single designated headliner that said what Spicy Band closed the festival on Sunday night.
Tas Melis
Tas.
J. Skeets
Go ahead.
Tas Melis
Spicy Band. I'll just go very literal. Spice Girls.
J. Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
No one.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melis
Oh, damn it.
Trey Kirby
Red Hot Chili.
J. Skeets
That's correct.
Trey Kirby
Good hint.
J. Skeets
I also consulted. I consulted with JD On. Should I put a clue in this one? That's pretty tough. Yeah, I threw Spicy in.
Tas Melis
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melis
He knew it was coming. That damn pepper.
J. Skeets
Obviously. Woodstock 99. Lots of documentaries on that. It's the Limp Bizkit.
Trey Kirby
And if you wouldn't have put spicy and I'm guessing Biscuit.
J. Skeets
Yeah, That's Saturday. I think that's the night before. Yeah. All right, Trey, 5, 1 lead.
Trey Kirby
How about pop culture?
J. Skeets
All right, back to pop culture. Our final one in pop culture.
Trey Kirby
That's what we just did. I'm trying to jump around.
J. Skeets
You just did world events. I know. It could have been whatever his name is.
Trey Kirby
James.
J. Skeets
Okay? It's all about jumping pop culture. Final question. Who won the Grammy Award for best new artists in 1999? Wow. Okay, I'm gonna throw on the hint. I was gonna throw on, like they would do in Jeopardy. Uh, let me educate you guys. Who won the Grammy Award for best new artists in 1999? That's the hint.
Trey Kirby
Oh, man. 19.
J. Skeets
So a lot of great artists, too. This is why it's a stacked category in 99.
Tas Melis
So is the education a hint?
J. Skeets
It's a hint, Trey. Go ahead.
Trey Kirby
Lauryn Hill.
J. Skeets
That's correct.
Trey Kirby
I mean, that's education.
J. Skeets
Correct.
Trey Kirby
That's a good new artist.
J. Skeets
That's. Yeah. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
I mean, I guess maybe that's when her solo record came out.
J. Skeets
That's exactly right. But there's, like. I think the category is, like, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera. There's a couple other big, big names that came out in 99. So I think it was, like, a. Maybe a little weird. Like a surprise with that album.
Tas Melis
Feels late for Britney Spears.
J. Skeets
Maybe one more time. 98, 99. It's got to be.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, Yeah, I guess so.
J. Skeets
All right, pop culture is done. How many questions are left? Can Task even do this? I guess he technically could. Okay, so. But, Trey, your pick here. You got movies, you got world events still. And Je. Skeets, of course we're going.
Trey Kirby
Skeets.
J. Skeets
Wow. All right, now, I know I've said this on the show before, so listen up. What was the name of my 1999 New Year's Eve house party? Trey, go ahead.
Trey Kirby
Filennium.
J. Skeets
That's correct.
Trey Kirby
Gotta be.
J. Skeets
That's correct. An infamous party shut down before midnight.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Before.
J. Skeets
Before the filennium. Before the filennium. The cops shut it down. Yep. Our friend at the time. I was still friend to the day at the time. Corey. Well, I was really good friends with him in school, but obviously. Stay in touch. Cory Smith.
Trey Kirby
Smith.
J. Skeets
He got a ticket at exactly 12 o' clock for. He had an open beverage out on the street after the party, got kicked out. Pretty incredible. So he's like. He's convinced he got the first ever ticket, probably of the millennium. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
That's good.
J. Skeets
That great little fact for you. Yep. Millennium. Okay, well, commanding lead. Go ahead, let's go. Movies. Okay. Movies. Back to movies. This is our second question of movies. It was a tough one. 1999 has a reputation for being one of the best years for movies. And three of them started with the word American. American Pie, American Beauty, and this cult favorite documentary. Tough.
Trey Kirby
Which ones did you say again?
J. Skeets
American Pie, American Beauty. And then this culture. Favorite documentary.
Trey Kirby
Trey. American movie.
J. Skeets
Correct. Wow, that's impressive. Remember the movie?
Trey Kirby
I do remember it.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
I haven't seen it for maybe not even during the millennium.
J. Skeets
Wow. Going back to 99. Okay. Yeah. Very good work. Now, I thought this was one of the tougher questions I had. All right.
Tas Melis
Do you remember the name of the movie? That American movie?
Trey Kirby
No way. No.
Tas Melis
Well, I think I do. I just thought of it.
J. Skeets
I'll look it up. Yeah.
Tas Melis
Is it coven?
J. Skeets
Oh, I think you're right. Yes, yes, yes. That's what they're making in the movie. I believe you're right. Coven.
Tas Melis
Nice.
J. Skeets
Coven. What a call. J.D. very nice. Positive reviews it received at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, but it's definitely become a cult film favorite. All right. Movies, World events. And J. Skeets is left.
Trey Kirby
World events it is.
J. Skeets
All right, this one's for the Canadians out there. So task. Come on, man. Here we go. What Canadian territory was established in 1999?
Tas Melis
Test.
J. Skeets
Yep.
Tas Melis
I will have none of it.
J. Skeets
Yes, that's right. Do you know what it means? Do you know what it means in. How do you spell in their language? What is it? Inukatut? Is that how you say it? Anyway. What? Did you know what it means? None of it.
Tas Melis
I don't, actually.
J. Skeets
I didn't either. Of course. Our land is what it means.
Trey Kirby
Wow.
J. Skeets
Yeah, There you go. There we go. None of it.
Trey Kirby
None of it.
J. Skeets
I will have none of it. Hold on, Tess. You know what? You should get a bonus point. All right, Task.
Tas Melis
I gave the Bill Clinton one to Trey, so I got that one.
J. Skeets
That's a great point. Okay, there's movies and. And Skeets left.
Tas Melis
Movies and Skeets movies.
J. Skeets
Okay, these are. These are very tough questions as we round this out, so you've saved the. Probably the toughest for last. In 1999's the Blair Witch Movie, three young students hike into the Appalachian Mountains near which state? Tess, go ahead.
Tas Melis
Near which state?
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
What a damn question. Near North Carolina? No.
J. Skeets
No. There's a lot of states.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, a lot of states.
J. Skeets
You basically have to know where it's located.
Trey Kirby
New York?
J. Skeets
No.
Tas Melis
New Hampshire?
J. Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
South Carolina.
J. Skeets
Georgia? No.
Tas Melis
Kentucky?
J. Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Tennessee?
J. Skeets
No. Virginia? No. But you're getting closer. Nope. Maryland. Yeah.
Tas Melis
I knew it was Mary's Land. Damn it.
J. Skeets
One of my favorite moments ever on the podcast, just naming mountains or naming states that maybe the Appalachian Mountains are in. Okay. Maryland. Yeah. Maryland. I think it was like. What was it? They had a weird name. Burkettsville or something like that. That's where it was located. Okay.
Trey Kirby
Somebody Ding Dong ditched my house when I was watching the Blair Witch Project at home. That was, like, one of the most scared I've ever been in my life.
J. Skeets
That's terrifying.
Trey Kirby
A perfectly timed Ding Dong Ditch.
J. Skeets
Did you and figure out who it was?
Trey Kirby
No. And I ended up having to go stand and watch in the corner all by myself, looking at nothing.
J. Skeets
Damn. All right, well, the final question, guys. In 1990, trivia is under the category J. Skeets. And it goes like this. What car component did I stamp serial numbers into while working the graveyard shift in Stratford, Ontario, to save money for my trip to Australia? What car component? I was working at? Dynamic Factory. Yeah. Yeah.
Tas Melis
Is that a hint? Like we should know. What dynamic.
Trey Kirby
What do they make?
Tas Melis
It's got to be TAS.
J. Skeets
Go ahead.
Tas Melis
An exhaust.
J. Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Trey.
J. Skeets
Go ahead.
Trey Kirby
Catalytic converter.
Tas Melis
Guys, it was a radiator.
J. Skeets
Pedals. Oh, pedals. I did do some radiator work, but it was pedals. Yeah, it was like. It was like brake pedals and clutch pedals. Yeah. And it was like I would take one out, I put in this machine, I press two buttons, and it would just put this, you know, serial number onto it. I just did that all night. All night. This is pre podcast, man. Just me and my thoughts.
Trey Kirby
Just me and my thoughts. This is pre podcasts.
J. Skeets
That's 1999 trivia. I was like, dude, I was working in a factory.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, but did they, like, music blaring?
J. Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Parts flying down the conveyor?
J. Skeets
It was.
Tas Melis
That's not allowed.
J. Skeets
No, no, it was. No, it was silent. You just. You.
Trey Kirby
Silent stamping.
J. Skeets
I mean, I especially the graveyard shift was weird because it was actually. It wasn't even an operating plant at night. We were in there to clean the plant and then sort of do some work like this crap, you know? But then I got eventually on the day shift, that's when we were building, like, actual cars.
Trey Kirby
That's nice.
J. Skeets
Yeah, that was more exciting. At least some. Well, some tack welding involved. No big deal. Whatever. No big deal. All right, Trey, you win. 1999 trivia. Eight to. We'll call it eight to three.
Trey Kirby
Great.
J. Skeets
Tess had a very funny pun. Good game, guys.
Trey Kirby
Very good game. And also, according to the stream team, 82% of our stream teamers here were alive in 1999.
J. Skeets
Oh, nice.
Tas Melis
Good to know.
J. Skeets
It's very good to know, actually. More than I would have thought. All right, we're going to take a break, and when we come back, a little beach step in where we're going to rank some playoff series this year.
Tas Melis
This show is brought to you by FanDuel. Who should you pick for Finals MVP? Of the 26 writers at the Athletic, I was surprised by this. 12 picked Brunson, 11 picked Wemmy, 3 picked Towns. Are they looking for the hits? I'm just gonna pick Carl Anthony Towns because nobody else is picking them. Well, FanDuel says it's unlikely Towns gets it. WEMBY is minus 175. Brunson is plus 210 in. Towns is plus 20. 200 on FanDuel. Right now. New customers can bet $5 and get 150 in bonus bets. If your first bet wins, you got all the tools you need to back them up, right? On the FanDuel app. Check stats, trends and matchups. Everything you need in one app. So don't miss your shot. Head to FanDuel Sportsbook app to get started. FanDuel, play your game.
J. Skeets
All right, thanks, everybody for joining us here this morning. Again, hit the like button. Subscribe five Star ratings and reviews. Let's hit the beach. You got the buzz, I got the rockets. You got the nuts, I got the chocolates. We got that chit shot down pat. Blah, blah, blah. You got that certain special genesis. Let's go to the beach, baby. Yes. From the factory to the beach. That's what we're doing here. Thanks, everybody. Sending questions over the last couple of days. No Dunks, Inc. Mail.com. that's Inc. On the end of that bad boy. No dunks inc.gmail.com. leave them in the YouTube comments or hit us up on social media. All right, I got a couple here for you. First one. Hey boys. Been listening since the starter days on NBA TV when I was in middle school. Been a big fan ever since middle school starters days. Was this person born after 1999? Probably not. Probably born in the, in the 90s, right?
Trey Kirby
Yeah. I bet it's probably close though. Probably close late 90s.
J. Skeets
I think it would be cool if you guys ranked all the playoff series from the playoffs so far in the lead up to the finals. There's a pretty clear number one, imo. But I'm curious where you guys would position the others and if one conference on average had more compelling matchups. Keep up the awesome work. Best. That's from Robert. Fun question. Robert and Tass, you're gonna lead the way on this one. Doing your best ability here to sort of rank them all.
Tas Melis
How many series in total we've had 14 series. Let's start from the worst and we'll make our way to the top of the 14 series we've seen so far. Plenty of sweeps and that's where we start. Thunder sweeping the Suns round one. That's, that's the worst we've seen, I would say. Unfortunately, I didn't get my man Colin Gillespie at his full form, but these sons had plenty of injuries. Sticking at 13 more thunder. I'd say the Thunder Lakers was number 13. It just seemed too, too easy for the Thunder. They're plus 64 over those four games in that sweep and it is around two. We're putting here at 13. So you can say, well you should, you should have that higher. But either way, that's where I got them. Number 12. I got a round two sweep. I think the Knicks Sixers not so fun.
J. Skeets
Yeah, agree.
Tas Melis
Plus 81 for the Knicks. Absolute crush. I think the biggest storyline is the Knicks having their fans in Philadelphia game three and game four. I mean, what else do you remember from that series? Yep, not much. Number 11. Finally something that's not a sweep. Spurs Blazers of round one five games.
J. Skeets
Okay, so this is the Wemby ejection.
Tas Melis
Wemby ejection. Well the concussion. Concussion.
J. Skeets
Excuse me. Concussion. Yes.
Tas Melis
I'm thinking we're still waiting.
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah.
Tas Melis
On Wembanyama's feelings and how upset he was about how post concussion was handled. So we should still get that after the season is done.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
He did say he is a man of his word. I think we are going to get that at some point. But otherwise. Otherwise we saw some, you know an incredible Scoot Henderson game right in that series or saw some great Drew Holiday. So there was some drama there. I felt this could have been a little higher.
J. Skeets
Maybe a little higher.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah, maybe. But at 10 I. I went with the final of the sweeps that we've seen so far from the first 14 series here. The Knicks Cavs just cuz it was a conference finals but it was plus 77 for the Knicks and we had the game one comeback. Yes, the comeback but still just kind of dudsville. So I can understand why you'd want to put spurs over. Spurs Blazers over that particular series.
Trey Kirby
These are my same bottom five.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah. All right. Moving into number nine. A lot of talk about this series as it happened. But Lakers Rockets as it went to six games kind of low here on. On the rankings. It started off three zip. And then the Rockets winning game four and game five to make this a series. But we got better series than this.
Trey Kirby
Remember when we were talking about Luke Canard so much he was starting that was this series. I think he had 27 and 23 in games one and two. Game three was the one with the Rockets. They blew it six point lead in 30 seconds or whatever. But yeah, this is low.
Tas Melis
Oh yeah.
J. Skeets
And there was a market smart game too, right?
Tas Melis
Yeah.
J. Skeets
Yes.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Tas Melis
Yeah. That the comeback part. Well, big part of that. What Trey was just mentioning the six points down for the Lakers that they came back.
Trey Kirby
Right.
Tas Melis
Yeah. Game three. It was game three. Right?
J. Skeets
Yeah, it was.
Tas Melis
Next we're getting into more seven game series because we had so many seven game series. So this is the first one I've. I've ranked at number eight. Pistons Magic Round 1 where Magic were up in game six at home fourth quarter it looked like they could win this series. They lose that game and then they lose game seven to the Pistons in Detroit Pistons look like they were on the ropes here in a 18 battle.
J. Skeets
Franz Wagner injury too in the series. Maybe the Magic win.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah, he's playing.
J. Skeets
They probably do Having the lead in the series. But yeah, I think you got it in the right spot here. You can maybe debate like Lakers Rockets. Like I, I think I liked Lakers Rockets more because I was watching with like our buddy John John and friends that game three, that crazy sort of like, what the hell just happened here? How did the Lakers get this to overtime? That was entertaining. So maybe I, I switched those two. But it's definitely not high this series.
Trey Kirby
No, I had it right in the middle too.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Seventh for me. Three, one lead getting blown. That's exciting. Had that monster dunk on Jalen Duran. There was a game when Cade and Paolo both had 45 against each other. Like there was some cool stuff that happened.
J. Skeets
Okay, good spot.
Tas Melis
Yeah, you probably had it higher than my number seven trade because this is me being a homer. Raptors calves round one, seven games.
J. Skeets
We had the RJ Barrett shot.
Tas Melis
Had the RJ Barrett shot.
J. Skeets
That was insane.
Tas Melis
Yes. I have play on a mug in on my mug shelf. I didn't bring it in. It doesn't really. It doesn't really read on camera. So I didn't really bring it in. The, the whole it. You got to see it up close and personal.
J. Skeets
You gotta sip.
Tas Melis
You gotta sip it.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
But it went to seven games. Although, you know, plenty of low scoring games in that series. There are some ugly ones. Yeah, there's some battles. But anyways, Cav's pulling it out in round one. Number six of our 14 series so far. I went Nuggets Wolves in round one. A fun battle between Rudy and Jokic. Jokic just wasn't himself. And so yeah, this could have been. Could have been higher for some, I think.
Trey Kirby
But yeah, it's in the. Like I had a fifth, sixth. Isn't that much different? Like I liked IO's 43 point game. You know, there was some like dramatic moments between like Jokic and Nas Reed I think.
Tas Melis
Right.
Trey Kirby
Like they gotten a little bit of a beef together. McDaniels had that monster game six. Yeah, some cool stuff happened, but this is like a. A mid carder.
Tas Melis
Yeah, it's a decent one. Let's get into it.
J. Skeets
The big takeaway was Go Bear containing, shutting down whatever we're calling on Yogic. Doing a really good job on him.
Tas Melis
Yes.
J. Skeets
The Wolves defense. The Wolves just sort of having the Nuggets sort of number, I guess in a. In the rubber match.
Tas Melis
Yeah. Is this the series that you will remember Rudy Gobert by the most in playoffs history or is it the game seven after the Nuggets won the championship and the following year, they're at home against the Minnesota timberwolves in game seven. They have a 20 point lead and they give up that lead.
Trey Kirby
That's when Gobert hits like that. Fade away, right?
Tas Melis
Yeah, that's more memorable.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. That's a weird one.
Tas Melis
That's a weird one. Top five here from these first three rounds. More Timberwolves, Spurs, Timberwolves. Round two went six games. Mini one. Game one in San Antonio with Rudy Gobert on the bench in the fourth quarter because they went to Nas Reed, they decided, all right, we're spreading it out, trying to get Wemby out of the paint. And it worked. In San Antonio, you know, the rest of the series went a little differently. Anthony Edwards leaving the floor at the end of game six. I shouldn't say at the end of game six. Eight minutes left. In the end of the end of game six. Was it eight, nine minutes left. As soon as there was a timeout, Anthony Edwards goes all the way over to the spurs bench to shake hands, which was very. People criticizing that, obviously, because he didn't hang out. But that was a good series. A really, really good series.
J. Skeets
You got in the right spot here, I think.
Tas Melis
I think so.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
But I think people could have it higher than my fourth pick of the 14 series. Pistons, Cavs. Round two did go seven games.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
So either way. Either way, it's a seven. It was a, you know, a fun. I don't know if there's a lot of. A lot of memories from that particular series,
J. Skeets
but.
Trey Kirby
Mitchell 39.5.
Tas Melis
That was. Yeah, that's a good one. That was a good one. Yep.
Trey Kirby
Road Team 1, 5, 6 and 7.
Tas Melis
That's weird. That was weird. Yeah. The home team winning the first four. Yeah.
J. Skeets
It's probably lower. Just like now looking back at it, it's like. Or maybe even in the moment, we were like, no one was really all that impressed with either of those teams or convinced they could do anything moving on in the playoffs. Someone was going to win by default. You know what I mean? And it was like. Yeah. So I think now that you say I'm in order. Wolves, spurs, probably I have. Ahead of this one.
Tas Melis
Yeah, I got it.
J. Skeets
Even though it went seven. Yeah.
Tas Melis
At number three, I've got another seven game series which people may drop because it was a round one battle between the Celtics and 76ers, but a nice upset for the Philadelphia 76. There's so much drama at the end of this series with Joe Mazula starting some weird stuff and Ron Harper Jr. Baylor Shireman out there and Luca Garza
J. Skeets
out there and Embiid coming back was huge.
Tas Melis
And be coming back and he looked
J. Skeets
amazing for a couple of games.
Trey Kirby
That was ridiculous. Immediately back and played what game 4. 4. And he looked so bad. And we're like, they maybe should not even play this guy going forward. Then he dominated for three games and it turned out he had three good games.
Tas Melis
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Ready for the playoffs. But the Sixers won all three of them. That was a crazy series.
Tas Melis
Yeah. To come back and win that thing. Very cool. And then you get the. This is post series, but the whole Jalen Brown hitting the twitch to talk about how this was his favorite season because he was the number one guy literally 24 hours after losing game seven. So weird stuff. But Yep. Part of.
Trey Kirby
You can factor it in.
Tas Melis
Part of the aura, no doubt. Number two, this maybe may be high, but I've got Knicks Hawks Round 1 games. Only six games. Only six games. But the making of the New York Knicks. It sure feels like after they were down 2:1 in this series and people wondering if the New York Knicks are going to win at all, that's when Carl Anthony Towns up top as the passer was born. It didn't happen in the first three games, but then it happened in game four. Mikhail Bridges as a result, started playing well. This was the OG Anunoby series. It was awesome. So all in all, I mean, we saw C.J. mcCollum, game winner.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melis
In this series winners, basically. So yeah, this was. This was good. Number two for me.
J. Skeets
Okay. And then number one is obvious.
Tas Melis
Yeah. Seven games, Western Conference finals. You get a Thunder Spurs. It was bookended by two great games in game one and game seven.
J. Skeets
Yep.
Tas Melis
Died a little bit. Two through six. There's the whole chat drama. There was the spurs playing Shea extremely well. He only got up to 40 shooting for an MVP who was doing 55 throughout the entire season. Surprising. But a lot of. A lot of stories born in this. Obviously Wemby in game number one with the 41 plus 41 points in two overtimes. That was some fancy stuff.
J. Skeets
So great series and hopefully the start of like a legendary rivalry between these two teams.
Tas Melis
Yep.
J. Skeets
If they keep these cores together, why wouldn't they? They're all fairly young and hopefully a couple more times in the Western Conference finals or obviously in a. In a round before if it happens. So.
Tas Melis
So any dumb ones? Any dumb ones.
J. Skeets
That's good. I mean, I think like you said, you could move around the odd one up a slot or two or down a slot or two but otherwise that's pretty solid.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, the only one that I had that was more than like one or two spots off was I thought Spurs Timberwolves was my number two. But when you running through the way it transpired, it did end with a dud. Like it was a 30 point blowout for the spurs in the end. But like I like the 1B 12 block game. I like the spiciness of him elbowing Nas Reed in the throat. Like there was some drama early in the series, but I think it just shows that like there's a clear number one and and then everything else that's happened.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah. And may may be pushed up a little bit more because Wemby won in the conference finals after, so it kind of gets attached to that a little bit. And yeah, I can understand why it's over. Pistons Caskist that was a bit, bit dirty but I like the Jalen Brown drama of Celtic Sixers. It's too good man. It's too good.

Good stuff. All right, next question here from John in Bakersfield. Hi, Bill. Yeah, we started something here. Longtime listener on the subject of memories. The biggest memory of the 1999 Finals matchup between the Knicks and Spurs is a Conan O' Brien skit that aired June 24, 1999, called Pubes. Me, being nine years old at the time, didn't know what the pubes joke was in reference to, as I had none at the time. In fact, I thought he was saying fubes for years. It took me until I had pubes to realize he was saying pubes. How many times can you say pubes in this email? I love it. Anywho, what's the. What's the first or biggest memory you have from the 99 finals? Or any memory from 1999 that sticks out to you turn up? Thanks for the merms. Fall Out Boyz. Awesome. That's. Thanks for the memories. I did not know they stylized the name of that song that way. That was news to me. I'm like, what the hell does that mean? Okay, no vowels. Thanks for the memories. Thanks for the memories. Okay. Great stuff, John. Really, we're just. Excuse me. Looking for your first or biggest memory from the 99 finals or anything from 99photo.
Tas Melis
The still image of Duncan and Robinson together. That's what I always will remember. Just visually, that's what I'll Remember, but play wise. I'll remember there. There's the photo of, of Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Just those two guys.
J. Skeets
I love it too because they're in Madison Square Garden. So you got those panels at the top with the lights. I just think it looks badass. Yeah, I'm with you. That, that definitely one of the first like images that pop into my head.
Tas Melis
Yeah, my. No doubt. And then play wise on the break, Latrell Sprewell giving it to Jaren Jackson, senior. A two hander. Right on. Jared Jackson, senior. Poor guy. Poor guy. Jaren Jackson, senior. I mean he had game or 17 points in game one out of the finals. He was really good. But the plays that you'll always remember. Jaren Jackson four were getting dunked on there by Sprewell, but also getting dunked on by Kobe Bryant on Christmas Day. Later that year in 1999, he got dunked on Kobe. We've talked about this before recently when I, I made that short of players whose dads played in the league. And Jaren Jackson and Kobe Bryant kind of had a glove on. It was like a brace glove that he used to dunk on Jiren Jackson.
J. Skeets
So the 99, 2000 season.
Tas Melis
Yeah, Christmas Day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's. That was the opening day of that season. Right. Did they start on Christmas?
J. Skeets
No, this wasn't. This was the.
Tas Melis
Oh, this was. Yeah, but this got pushed back.
J. Skeets
Yeah. Right.
Tas Melis
So when did they start?
Trey Kirby
Maybe I think they started on Christmas in 2011.
Tas Melis
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Maybe they played fewer games during the 98, 99 season. Right. So I think they might have started after the new year. Like did they even start in 1998? It might have been full 99. They only played 50 games, I think.
J. Skeets
Yeah, they did play.
Tas Melis
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
J. Skeets
I don't know.
Tas Melis
But anyways, Jaren Jackson, he was good. He won a championship.
J. Skeets
He did.
Trey Kirby
I wasn't afraid to challenge a dunk is what it sounds like.
Tas Melis
That's right.
J. Skeets
So I guess that's where his son got it from. It was a lot bigger. Aaron Jackson Sr. Was not Jaren Jackson Jr. Size.
Tas Melis
No.
J. Skeets
He was like a guard. Wing guy. Yeah. Like. Yeah, probably six, five, six, four. All right. What do you got from the finals or obviously anything else?
Trey Kirby
It was the Knicks became the first 80s to make the finals and that's what I think of first when it comes to the 99 finals. I think this was also the birth of Bill Simmons Ewing theory, which is why this is a perfect high bill question.
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah. It's sort of it's at least the best example of the Ewing theory for sure.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, right. Because he was like all banged up this entire year. He went down like he officially had to shut it down. During the playoffs they started playing Marcus Camby. More went to the finals as well. I have watched back game two and game five. Avery John Avery Johnson hits a game winner at the end of game five, maybe like 30 or 40 seconds left and this dude is wide open like Chris Childs, Latrell Sprewell. They're guarding nobody. They were just completely freaked out because basically Tim Duncan gets the ball in the post and they just had to do anything to get the ball out of his hands because this guy dominated in the finals. Watching back game two and Doug Collins is calling him the best player in the league.
J. Skeets
Yes, I saw that.
Trey Kirby
He's two seasons in.
J. Skeets
Yep, that's what he says.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
J. Skeets
This guy's in his second year. He's the best player in the league. Yeah, at that time he was. Those are great stuff. The only thing I'll add is a vivid memory is just Larry Johnson in the finals and he's rocking the huge beard. Grandma Ma with the beard at that point. Oh, it looked awesome on it. It was like sort of a raggedy beard, but it looked cool. And he had the infamous four point play leading into the NBA finals. So that's just like pops into my head. Larry Johnson, let's hear your memories from 99. Were you alive in 1999?
Trey Kirby
Were you alive?
J. Skeets
Yeah. Were you alive?
Trey Kirby
Chipper Jones won the MVP that year. I also think of that.
J. Skeets
Did he?
Tas Melis
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
He literally dominated the New York Mets and I think that's what the problem was. Smoked the Mets like the last season of this or the last series of the season. I think he hit maybe four home runs. They won the MVP off that because the Braves were behind the Mets going into this. They ended up having to play again in the playoffs, beat the Mets again and then they had to play the other New York team and got completely smoked. Sometimes you win your championship in the conference finals.
J. Skeets
That was one of the rare instances in MLB history where they were the two number one seeds I think too in their. In their leagues. Yep. I'm pretty sure both of them, the Yankees and the Braves in that finals.
Trey Kirby
Broke my wrist in 1999.
J. Skeets
Did you?
Trey Kirby
Yeah. Our team went to the state tournament in high school. Is our best basketball team ever. Big shout out to Brad. You corn taking us to number four. But I was playing in the bounce house and Ryan Romey fell On me. Broke my wrist. Not great for the start of the baseball season.
Tas Melis
Wow.
J. Skeets
You were in a bounce house and you were 16 years old. 17 years old. Guys were just being hooligans. We're just being hooligans.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, exactly.
J. Skeets
Right. That's what I mean. Like, too old for a bounce house.
Trey Kirby
Absolutely. As it turns out, yes.
Tas Melis
Yes.
J. Skeets
Lesson learned. All right, final one here, but. Well, hold on. Jd, are you all right over there? You okay?
Tas Melis
Yes.
J. Skeets
Okay, good. I am choking. Yeah. No. Okay, you're choking, but I'm fine. Okay. All right, final one. Classic Factory. On this Monday's finals preview, Skeets. Skeets was hitting on some storylines and was discussing the Larry o' Brien trophy at center court. Quipping, bullying works sometimes. I found it hilarious because not even 72 hours ago, I said the same thing in my college friends group chat. The reason being our one friend, Adam, would notoriously never dive and hit the floor for a loose ball. Back in our prime hooping days at the University of Pittsburgh H2P, we bullied him for months. And finally, after all the harassment, he started playing grittier and diving for loose balls. This memory brings me to my question. How? When did you constructively bully your friend into a positive outcome? Thanks for all Yin's due. That's from Nick. S. Look, from where he's from, from Southern Maryland. He would have known the answer to that Blair Witch Project question. All right, Nick wants to know how or when you basically bullied your friends into a positive outcome. Tough question to answer, but maybe somebody's got something here.
Trey Kirby
Okay, just before we start answering this stuff, I looked it up. The Liz app commercials started in 1999. Was this on purpose? I don't know.
J. Skeets
It's all coming together.
Trey Kirby
Great commercial.
J. Skeets
That was 99.
Trey Kirby
I just did a quick Google of WhatsApp to see what it said, and somebody said this was the 67 of the 90s and early 2000s. People were saying was up. Yeah, non stop.
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Constructively bullying. I don't know, but it's similar to, like, parenting your children's. And sometimes peer pressure is good where you're like, oh, every kid's going off the diving board. You better go off the diving board. For my example, we made our younger daughter Ada play basketball this year. And we're like, we will give you a big bag of Skittles if you go. She went. And guess what? She likes basketball. Now that's fun. Once you start playing, you just gotta get out there.
J. Skeets
That's. I've said this story before, but there used to be a guy when I was in high. Well, I guess it was like before high school, but playing sports. Growing up, we called him Big Game James. He was an awesome softball player, baseball player, and his parents would give him a bag of chips for every home run he hit. And this kid would just go out and hit diggers non stop because all. I swear, he didn't even like baseball. He just loved chips that much. I can picture it. And he could crush the ball, man. He was like, a really good baseball player, but I don't think he liked it anyway. Very, very similar. Yeah.
Tas Melis
Hardball or softball?
J. Skeets
Yeah, I remember him playing softball, but I think he played hardball, too. I just can always picture him, like, at the end of a game, walking with a bunch of, like. Like, you know, chips you would hand out. Like Halloween or something.
Trey Kirby
Like the little bags?
J. Skeets
Yeah, yeah. But maybe a little bit bigger than little bags. I feel like back in the 90s, we had, like, the more, you know, an individual bag of chips.
Tas Melis
Sure.
J. Skeets
But they were bigger probably than they were now. Now there's like eight chips in a bag.
Trey Kirby
You're saying Big Game James, if he had a multiple home run game, he's getting multiple bags.
J. Skeets
Absolutely. I'm telling you, he would always have three or four, like, bags of chips. So you'd be walking to the car. He's so just pumped. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
He grew up to be Jim Laris, the New York Yankees.
J. Skeets
What do you got here, Tas? Again, sort of a tough question.
Tas Melis
It is tough. Yeah. I didn't have a really good answer, but I kind of bullied my friend. Current friend. After I had been to Medieval Times, I wanted to go back, and he didn't want to go, but I said, listen, we could have some fun. So I pulled out my. My kids swords that we got in the first time. They're kind of like a lightsaber. They light up. And I said, come on, we could do this. And I gave him a sword and I bullied him into a little sword fighting. And we ended up going because he loved that little sword fight.
J. Skeets
I was like, wow, this is fun. I'd like to watch this fight.
Tas Melis
Super fun in person.
Trey Kirby
Gotta pick up some tips.
Tas Melis
Yeah. It was so fun. Do you guys know the definition of bullying? Because this is. None of this is bullying.
J. Skeets
This is all positive reinforcement. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. Bribery. Yeah. Sort of.
J. Skeets
True. What do you got?
Tas Melis
We had a guy that was always late for work, and we told him we'd shave his eyebrow off if he was continually late for work. And He. He finally. We finally snapped and shaved his eyebrow off. And he walked around. This was in Greece. And he was never late again.
J. Skeets
That's good. I got bad news for you, buddy.
Trey Kirby
It was weeks. Weeks of.
Tas Melis
No. Like, he tried to draw one on. He had really thick eyebrows and we only did one. Right. So. Oh, God.
J. Skeets
So you had to pin him down.
Tas Melis
No, he was sleeping. He just passed out. He woke up and he was. He showed up late that day, but he walked in and it was hilarious because he only had one eye.
Trey Kirby
Wow, that's very good.
J. Skeets
Okay, now that's. That's the definition of bully.
Trey Kirby
Yes, that's very good.
J. Skeets
Good stuff. Great questions, guys. We got there in the end. Thank you so much for the beach stepping cues. All right, we'll call it there. Bit of a quicker show again. We had a huge, long NBA finals preview show yesterday, so if you didn't listen or watch that, go check it out. Really happy with how that one turned out. Going through again. Everything from this series gets ready to tip on Wednesday night. Our predictions, we'll show them to you here in case you don't feel like listening to why we're picking our teams. I'm the only one taking the Knicks. Knicks in seven, hopefully a classic. And Tassin Trey going Spurs. Tassin five, Trey in six for the San Antonio Spurs. But highly encourage you to go check it out.
Trey Kirby
I just saw in the stream team. I haven't checked to make sure, but the corgi picked the Spurs.
J. Skeets
It just dropped at 10 o'. Clock. Yeah. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
That's what I'm seeing 59 minutes ago. The prediction we've all been waiting for.
J. Skeets
What a shock. I mean, he's become like a cult hero to San Antonio spurs fan. Yeah. Imagine he actually, you know, the ball bounced the Knicks way. There's. They hold on. Redo it for sure.
Trey Kirby
Wow, you're. You're casting aspersions against air corgi.
J. Skeets
It ain't live, is it? The corgi doesn't have the guts to do it live. No, it's not. So, yes, I am. And that's fine. Do what you got to do. Play to your strengths. Play to your fan base.
Tas Melis
Definitely. I thought each one of those could be aied to whatever they want to do.
Trey Kirby
They show the myth Mrs. They're showing Mrs. You know?
J. Skeets
Yeah, that's. That's just smart editing.
Trey Kirby
That's true.
J. Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
I mean, if it goes like this,
J. Skeets
though, it'll be a classic. So. Sorry, did you. What did. How many games did the Corgi pick seven games. Oh, okay.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
J. Skeets
Okay. Dog's back in my good graces. As long as it's seven. I mean, that's fantastic. Well, how does he have it going? I mean, you know, do we have a huge lead? Is it a big company?
Trey Kirby
Let me narrate here.
J. Skeets
Okay, here we go.
Trey Kirby
Let me narrate as I load it.
Tas Melis
There we go.
Trey Kirby
It's taking a ticket.
J. Skeets
He also has, like, a deal with like, Yahoo Sports. This.
Trey Kirby
Oh, interesting. It isn't on Yahoo page. Game one, bang Spurs. Game two, off the Knicks rim. We're starting over. Okay, Game one, Spurs bang. Game two, off the rim. No, Game two. Are we doing it again? Knicks win in San Antonio.
J. Skeets
Game 3.
Trey Kirby
Okay, off both rims. Game 3, Knicks take the 21 lead in Madison Square Garden. Huge spurs even it up in game four. Game five, oh, off the Knicks basket. Into the spurs basket. Game 6, Knicks win, defend home court in seven. Off the rim, off the floor, off the wall. Spurs in seven.
J. Skeets
Wow. Jeez. If it's like that, we got a classic on our hands.
Trey Kirby
And that's a man narrating a dog
J. Skeets
hitting a ball into two hoops. Well done, sir. Well done.
Trey Kirby
That would be an exciting way. You should have seen the way it bounced from the Knicks to the.
J. Skeets
Oh, I can picture it. Yeah. Oh, yeah, absolutely. So, all right, well, The Corgi says 7. Love that.
Tas Melis
Corgi have a name?
J. Skeets
I don't know.
Trey Kirby
We just call him Air Corgi, known as Air Corgi. Is that its real name or are they protecting its privacy, like calling it Airport?
J. Skeets
What's his real name? We got a fun show lined up tomorrow. Hopefully this one was a fun one, but tomorrow. Oh, my God. The man, the myth, the legend, R I Z g O D RizzGod joins us here live at 10:00am Eastern. Trey and I and JD are going to talk to him about the Knicks, about his fandom, about the Finals. Trey Kirby
That's right.

Trey Kirby
Oh, so he's 2626, November 99.

Okay. Laundry stinks. Literally. I mean, you could just keep buying new underwear. Not that I've ever done that. Or maybe sort your clothes into piles based on how re wearable or filthy they are. Or just use arm and hammer Deep Clean. It's made for real life stinks and stains. So even if you don't do laundry, the quote right way Deep Clean will knock it out. I mean, it is from the number one liquid detergent brand that tackles more loads than any other. Come clean with arm and hammer Deep Clean. One claim based on total wash loads sold.

Episode Title: Ranking Each NBA Playoff Series, 1999 Trivia & R.I.P. Rick Adelman
Hosts: J. Skeets, Tas Melis, Trey Kirby, JD (Super Producer)
This episode of No Dunks is a lively blend of tribute, NBA nostalgia, and playoff analysis. The crew starts with a heartfelt remembrance of Hall of Fame coach Rick Adelman, then shifts into a spirited round of 1999-themed trivia—riffing on the Finals matchup between the Knicks and Spurs—before the main course: methodically ranking every 2026 NBA Playoff series so far. Plus, classic No Dunks banter about basketball, bounce houses, bullying for good, and cult memories of the 1999 Finals.
“Rank every playoff series so far and tell us which conference was more compelling.” — Robert
Tas and Trey discussed, with Skeets moderating, a full 14-series ranked list (from least to most compelling/fun).
Notable Quotes:
Notes:
“What’s your biggest memory from the 1999 Finals, or from 1999 in general?” — John in Bakersfield
“Share a time you (constructively) bullied or peer-pressured a friend into a positive outcome.” — Nick S.
This episode weaves NBA history, 1999 nostalgia, and sharp playoff takes into an episode that both honors the league’s past and makes space for some classic No Dunks absurdity and warmth. Whether you want basketball analysis, ‘90s references, or simply clever banter, it’s a perfect showcase of the show’s style and camaraderie.
