What's that smell? Oh, it's spring. I know it's early, but I am ready. I can smell it. I'm ready to elevate my space. It's time to go to Wayfair. I love deciding what I'm gonna change. This here. It's a carpet. Getting it out of there, grabbing my leaf blower and just blowing around all the dust in my house. I usually put a mask on so I don't inhale all of it. Wayfair does make it easy to decide what you want to refresh because it has everything your home needs. This season. While I was surfing, I was thinking maybe a nice chesterfield or an ottoman. Oh, yeah, the fluffy faux fur ottoman is a nice footrest. I need one for my living room. I only have a table and my feet do get sore. Look. Super soft. It's nice and white. I can yell at my kids if they get it dirty. I love it. Get organized, refreshed and back on track this new year. For way less. Head to Wayfair.com right now to shop all things home. C
Hello.
A
There he is. Here we are. Hello, YouTube. Hello, podcast listeners. Before we get started, a little housekeeping to let some of you know that, yes, we are aware of of the issues with Apple podcasts. For some reason, yesterday's show would not go up to Apple. It wouldn't go up to the podcast app, but it would go up to the desktop version. So that's even stranger. What up with that Apple?
B
I think a lot of people are listening to the desktop. One probably not listen to a podcast through the desktop app of anything.
A
Spotify every once in a while. Blue Moon. Interesting. Yeah, interesting. But no, mostly it's an app, so it's probably. We're looking into it.
C
I probably screwed up.
A
Yeah. What the hell, Tim? So anyway, we're aware of it. Thanks everybody, for reaching out, either on substack or Instagram DMs.
C
As I said, podcast listeners, this is for you. I was a little reluctant to say.
A
Yeah, yeah. But we'll figure it out. Don't you worry.
B
It's there now.
C
What a check.
B
Wow, that's Tim.
A
So what happened? We refresh it? Just unplug it, plug it back in. Literally no idea.
C
Okay. Okay, great.
A
Oh, that's just great news.
C
I was refreshing downloads on our platform to see if they're getting boosted.
B
Nicely done, man.
A
Nicely done.
C
Yeah, they're going up.
A
Okay, good.
B
You guys want to listen to yesterday's show real quick?
A
Yeah, let's see how we could get better. Yeah, sure. Fired up here. We might have some ads at the beginning. Yeah, hold on, hold on. If you like an ad free version, go to substack.
B
Oh, it's iHeart podcast.

Yeah.

What's that smell?
A
Skip, skip, skip.
C
Sure. Oh, yeah.
A
All right, so let me confess. No, no, One more. There we go.
B
Hey.
A
Oh, black pink. This is black pink.
B
That's what you sound like from one
A
and a half Speed. I was gonna say. What speed are you going? Holy. I'm really ripping through that all right, let's get into last night's games, man. We got an awesome one to talk about. SGA tying Wilt Chamberlain's record, hitting the game, winning three as the Thunder beat the Nuggets. 121. Excuse me. 129, 126. This is on the short list for one of the games of the season so far.
B
Oh, this is the game of the year.
A
Wow. Okay.
B
It's easy to say that because nobody will remember the other ones.
A
Yeah, exactly. That's why I said it's on the short list.
B
This is a game of the year. Oh, no, this is it. This is late in the season. We're talking about a pretty healthy Denver Nuggets team. They're missing Peyton Watson. Even Jamal Murray played last night. The Thunder definitely more banged up, missing four out of their top six. But this was MVPs going head to head, hitting incredible shot after incredible shot. Shea Gilgis. Alexander basically hits two game winners. We got a four point play in the last 15 seconds to tie the game. And then we got, you know, the equivalent to Steph Curry's 2016 double bang basically from SGA with the sidestep. I, without doing the full research into the basketball reference game scores, for me, this is the game of the year.
C
I cannot disagree, especially the way it started. I thought, all right, Aaron Gordon's going off. The guy had 13 points in the first 3 minutes and 47 seconds. Okay, he has to call timeout. I had a flashback to the 2023 NBA Finals, Game 1, when Aaron Gordon had six dunks in the first quarter of Game 1 because they were starting Caleb Martin on the other side for the Miami Heat. And the Thunder were way too small in this game, too. And they were posting up Aaron Gordon. They were posting up Nikola Jokic because of, as you mentioned, all those guys that were missing. Especially when you got Jokic out there, you really want Alex Caruso to body him along with Chad and Isaiah Hardenstein. Plus they don't have Jalen Williams. I thought, here come the Nuggets, but whoa, the Thunder support staff, that was it, man. That, that was what really, really impressed me. And now they're getting these bigger roles. Your, your new Jared McCain and A.J. mitchell and his first game back with all these guys out, you assume that's going to help them in the postseason just to have all these reps?
A
Yeah, it should. I mean, they helped out, but it was SGA just winning the damn game with the 35 points, 15 assists, 0 turnovers is pretty insane. If you watch the game and how they played him, they are running sometimes two, sometimes three. It felt like Nuggets players, defenders at him to just get the ball out of his hands. Anybody but him, obviously. A career high 15 assists. And those guys were making plays, no doubt. And we can go through them, but like to have zero turnovers in that situation is wild to me.
B
Yeah.
A
Because that's a lot of hands and a lot of bodies and just a lot of movement. And to play sort of a perfect game offensively is wild.
B
Perfect game is basically the right way to say it. I think this guy was incredible last night. I really loved what I saw from the Nuggets. I've been hard on their defense lately, no doubt about it. But they came in with like a playoff ready game plan. This is not dissimilar to the way the Raptors guarded Steph Curry in the 2019 Finals when they were down Klay Thompson. They were down Kevin Durant by the end of it. So went for a junk defense. But that's what you do in a playoff series is you pull out any single card you can. The Nuggets did it. They were committed to it. The problem is that they just couldn't guard SGA because anytime he would get a one on one situation, Christian Brown would be right there. But it did not matter. And then they tried Spencer Jones on the last play. They're like we got to get somebody with a little bit more size on sga. So he just uses quickness. A little sidestep to the right. Like I said, basically two game winners, both three pointers. That used to be the weak point of his game.
A
Yeah.
B
And now he's trying to shoot off the dribble threes.
A
He has cooked up step back threes to seal a win. In each of OKC's last three games he did one to OG Anunoby, great defender in MSG with about 80 seconds left that pushed the lead to seven game. He danced into the one versus Draymond Green the other night, 45 seconds left that pushed the lead to five. And then you're right, Trey, he did it twice last night. Arguably once up top. Christian Brown pushed the lead to four and then on the final possession versus Spencer Jones that big step to the right, bang. OKC wins. That's you've done four step back threes here over three games, all in victory.
C
Yeah, and they tried so many different guys. As you said, they will try Peyton Watson if he is back healthy and they see him in a playoff series because Peyton Watson is that really long guy who's done really good job against stars in this league like Jaylen Brown. Really stands out to me as a guy who he did a great job at just bodying. That's the only thing you can do with Shake Hill. Just Alexander, just stay too close to him as possible. He should be back fairly soon. But that's what made this such a fun game. Because you mentioned the Denver Nuggets defense, they're ready. This felt like a playoff game, like a championship type of game. To see Nikola Jokic, who is always ridiculed for not being able to move, move out there pretty well. He was moving as fast as he could. Can't help but think a horse when he's clopping around out there trying to catch up. But he was doing a good job because they were throwing, as you said, multiple bodies. And then the other guys on OKC were doing a fantastic job of utilizing that space. Like I mentioned Jalen Williams. Jalen Williams, how did he have 29 points? He was splashing threes out there. A.J. mitchell, I thought was the real key off the bench. He was plus 11 in 24 points. So when you think Shay Gil Alexander is not gonna have the ball in his hands. And these other guys who are sincerely their, you know, third, a lot of their third string type of guys out there, like Jalen Williams is their calling me their third string center. AJ Mitchell, who is not part of their playoff rotation last year, and Jared McCain who's there now, they came through huge. I thought AJ Mitchell was really, really important.
A
When he blew by Tim Hardaway Jr. On a play where the Nuggets just threw two guys at Shea, like get it out of his hands. It went to AJ Mitchell. I'm talking about late. Like it was like, I don't know, a minute 20 left in the game and he just blew by Tim Hardaway Jr. You know, Jokic slow to rotate the horse was moving slow the clop into their left. But it was a nice finish inside. So that was big. Isaiah Joe had a nice baseline jumper. I think that was on Jokic as well with like a little bit earlier in the game, that 15 footer and then, yeah, Jared McCain, man, like campaign played like nearly 30 minutes last night for the Sixers. They could use him right now, especially with the injuries to them. This guy is like perfectly fit in. He had two huge threes down the stretch.
B
Two huge threes, had 13 last night. And when you think about a full strength Thunder team, he might not even play in the playoffs. He might be out of the rotation, but that's why he was so big as a pickup for them. They need him right now with everybody banged up, especially with wing Jalen Williams out, they need somebody else who can help create offense. You know, Mitchell had missed 20 straight games. The guy scores 24 in his return. He probably is ahead of McCain in the pecking order long term. Caruso will be there. The minutes just might not be there for Jared McCain during the playoffs, but right now it's great to have a guy that can in a pinch be playing fourth quarter minutes for you. He was contributing on the defensive end. Like he's not a great defender, but he was given a great effort. He was sticking Aaron Gordon at times when they got him on switches. That was really, really impressive to me. The depth was really the difference here and the fact that the Thunder had the ball the last. Had the ball last because I mean, Jokic wasn't missing down the stretch. He was hitting impossible shots as well. But like we're talking about, the Thunder are missing four of their top six guys and they get great performances from Jalen Williams, who probably should have been drafted in our underrated player draft. 29 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, seven threes. That's crazy. As a starter, he puts up 12 per game, seven rebounds, three assists on 61% true shooting. Like anytime they need him to step in for Chet or for Hartenstein or last night when both of them are out there, he produces. I just saw this guy's high school mixtape. It is the most ordinary thing you will ever see. No dunks. There's literally no dunks in an NBA player. Centers high school basketball.
A
It's crazy.
B
He was throwing down dunks last night.
A
Yeah, he was beating yo.
B
Unbelievable that they can just dust this guy off and he will contribute. I think like he. He racks up triple doubles at the end of the season. Yeah, he's a March man as well now.
A
Now he had an A plus game, but he did nearly blow it. He did trucking Jamal Murray, he did
B
he trust Jamal Murray. He said it was the worst moment
A
of his life,
B
but also like had the game of his life. And then you look at the Denver side, they got nothing outside of Jokic and Murray and Aaron Gordon at the start of the game. Cam Johnson, thanks for playing.
A
Oh man.
B
Bruce Brown. I don't know if he's going to play in the playoffs. Valanchunas. They didn't play him in the second half. Tim Hardaway Jr. Was good. Yeah, he was really, really good. But that means he's playing over Cam Johnson. So I think disappointing for the Nuggets to not get anything from their role guys.
C
Yeah, no doubt the Cam Johnson experience has been disappointing. You can see him catch the ball and there is no drive on that guy. He's ready to just give it up. His defense is totally fine, but he's just not comfortable putting the ball on the floor. And so when it comes to the postseason, I think there'll be a quick hook to put Peyton Watson in there in his place because Peyton Watson has shown he's able to do it on both sides. It has been disappointing from Cam Johnson. Simple as that.
A
Just 10 days after he was ejected from the previous Thunder Nuggets matchup. We had. And that was for bumping and tripping Jokic. We had. Lou Dort assessed another flagrant one for the backhand smack. The. No, look, flagrant foul. Tk, you know, caught him foul. They went and looked at it and assessed the flag one. And it was a big play. I mean, this is down the stretch here, obviously. I think Jokic split a pair. Did he not at the line. Yeah.
B
But wow.
A
What'd you think of Dort Added again? I guess he has apologized once again.
B
He's an artist, you know, you have never seen this. Jokic was in front of him. Dort was going forward and he hit him in the face behind the back. I was trying to do that last night, like before I went to bed. Can I throw my arm that far behind my shoulder? It's impossible. And look at Dort's shoulder muscles.
A
Contortionist.
B
How does he do that?
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
You gotta go out of your way.
A
Somebody get this guy in front of Kevin Garnett.
B
He's the bone breaker. He gotta get that.
A
If you get that reference. Wow.
B
That was insane though. And like, he did. He did apologize. And the Nuggets were kind of like, thank you for apologizing. Also, thank you for spurring our rally after that. It was a seven point game. They gave him a couple of free points. They get the ball as well. It got him back into the game. Dort just flailing about.
C
Yeah. Lou Dort may have made this the game of the season because without that, it doesn't get super close. He's a super flexible contortionist. That is amazing. I was doing the same thing. I'm not trying to imitate these guys moves on the floor too much. Like basketball wise, because I can't do these. I was just trying to see if I could go around A defender, like, he literally. Or go around a picker, I should say. And he's just. He's going around, but he's just throwing his arm behind him like that. That is very hard to do. Contortionists are super fun, though. You mentioned the. The breakers.
A
The bone breakers.
C
The bone breakers, yeah. When I go to a resort.
A
Get that. No, what's he say?
B
I got to get that.
A
Kevin Garnett watching area is 21.
C
Yeah. When I go to a resort, I love the idea of a contortionist doing their performance over a. Okay, here comes Michael Jackson again. You get to see a contortionist right in front of you. That's fantastic. Blows your mind that Lou Dort made the season right there with that. He was obviously hit, trying to hit Nikic in the face. There's no other explanation.
A
He's trying to hit him. Yeah.
C
I'm trying to hit this guy in
A
the chest, square in the face. I mean, who knows? But, yeah, yeah. He's just doing classic door things. He's. With his body. He just chucks his limbs everywhere.
C
And Jokic sells it. He could. He didn't have to hit the. He didn't have to hit the floor. I know it hurt.
A
He got popped.
C
He didn't have to hit the floor.
A
Don't be. The Thunder broadcast on this one because they thought right away, they're like, oh, my God, he's flopping like crazy. What's going on? I'm just saying, they showed the replay. They're like crickets, sort of. It was like, oh, okay, he got
C
hit in the face. Flagrant. Yeah. All I'm saying is that he doesn't need to throw his legs.
A
It wasn't a flagrant two. Okay. It was a flagrant one or. I mean, sure, I would have been okay if it was a foul. It's a foul, but, yeah, that's what they called it. And obviously he didn't get ejected or anything like that, but it helped make it a great game. You're not wrong about that. Anything else from this one? Anything else in the notes there?
B
I think we hit all my notes. I cannot find this Jalen Williams mixtape.
C
You were amazed by it.
B
It was amazing. It's amazing to see. Like, he just looks like a guy who probably averaged 16 a game. Playing low.
C
Sure.
B
High school basketball, but he was. You know, he's an NBA player. It's just weird to see he's, like, literally going against Walker Kessler. He's putting him in the basket, but it's just Weird to see. Oh, my only other note that I got here at the end. She's celebrating like we haven't seen him be fired up. Yeah, exactly. Very demonstrative on both of his three point makes. Then he's celebrating after the game. Throwing up a two.
A
Yeah.
B
Is he saying peace out or is he saying I'm the two time mvp
A
also wears number two, which is great. A lot of reasons, I think all of the above. Peace out. And I just won my second consecutive MVP last night. Which we haven't talked about. We sort of were talking about it yesterday. We sort of beat everybody to the punch there. I thought he maybe wrapped it up after a great weekend performance and these type of game winners. I think his odds for clutch player of the year skyrocketed too. Anthony Edwards has some competition, but I think it was everything but man, he was really into that game. It felt like he really wanted that win. And here's how I interpreted it a little bit. We never had footage of the time because it was behind closed doors, but we had the report of Jimmy Butler beating the Wolves starters with like the second unit. Yes, that's what that game felt like a little bit to me. Us getting to watch what probably happened with Jimmy and his B or C unit against obviously the other starters there for Minnesota. Because this was all these guys. No, this is a great team, a great Thunder team. But like they're missing four quality guys, like four guys in their eight man rotation, a lot of them defensive stars. And SGA is like, I got, I got this with these guys, obviously building them up, but like I can do this. So that, that's sort of what I was thinking. I was like, oh, this may be what happened behind closed doors way back in the day in Minnesota when. When Jimmy went nuts and then talked to Rachel Nichols. So that was my. The way I looked at it.
C
Yeah, I hear, I think it was a, hey, I'm two time mvp. Here it is. And simple as that. And again, just as the sport guys, to see AJ Mitchell do his thing or Jerry McCain do his thing and to see this other support guys who are injured, Jalen Williams, J Dub and Alex Crusoe getting up every single time those guys scored to support them. That's just a sign of a championship team. That's a sign of a team that will go super deep in the rotation when needed. Other random notes talking about the. The flop. Shay Gil just Alexander drew a foul on Christian Brown about 40ft from the hoop because Christian Brown, you know, bumped him and he sold It. There's no doubt. Shea went to the floor and Aaron Gordon walks by, imitating Shay doing that oh, I'm boneless sort of thing. Like he plays fall flat, like. And Shea laughed. He had a giggle. He said, yeah, you're right. I sold that thing. And I did it very well. Other notes, the hair maintenance on the Denver Nuggets. Two. Two notes of hair. Bruce Brown has the handlebar. Those are big. That's a handlebar mustache. They're huge. They're wide.
A
Yeah.
C
Do you guys like them for him?
B
Sure.
C
I mean, if it's the cowboy. Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. Bad game for him. And back it. We didn't even mention Jamal. Like, Jamal Murray didn't have an official. Yeah, yeah.
A
I was on the assumption he was not going to play in that game, but. So that was great that he was out there, but yeah, yeah.
C
And great for them to keep it close even though he doesn't have a good game. You think they need him, period. But other guys, like Tim Hardaway, like we said, monstrous game for him. Other hair maintenance. Nicola Yit just needs to buzz that hair. It's too long.
A
Nora mentioned it watching the. She's like, he's got a lot of hair going on right now. She had like beard too, sort of. And yeah, the hair.
C
He'll do it before the playoffs, I guess.
A
Yeah, he usually does, right?
B
I don't know.
A
LeBron goes 0 dark 30 and Jokic goes buzzer, gets a get clean. I don't know.
B
Simple haircut.
A
Yeah.
C
It's just a buzzer.
B
Could easily get it done before a game.
C
Yeah. Who did it? Who got their haircut right after the game? I forget. But there's somebody who needed a haircut. So he just finished the game. Just got a quick buzz after the game somewhat recently. That's all I gotta say.
A
What did you think before we move on SGA's quote, making the rounds in the post game press conference, you know, about the game winners here, the step backs. Maybe that's what the 2 is for as well. I just thought of like, he did it twice in the game. He's like, I just did it twice. Anyway, he said, quote, I have answers to the test, but I gotta see the questions first.
B
Sure.
A
Good, good. It's not a bad line.
B
Yeah, definitely. I mean, it seems rehearsed to me.
A
Yeah.
B
Being honest. But that's also just how he comes off, Right?
C
Right. He was asked specifically about taking that three point shot. Right?
A
Yeah.
C
So they said the question was, did you know you're Going to take that shot. And the. I guess, I guess the implication is I got to see where the defenders are if I'm going to pass the ball.
A
You know, it's his line. I mean, it sounds exactly like you would have expected to see in a caption.
C
Exactly, exactly like it was. Ready?
A
Yeah.
B
Do you think he has a. A list in his notes of things to say, captions?
A
Yeah, maybe say this one. Maybe use that one as a caption. You know, this one comes out a better cooler. Yeah, maybe. Possibly. He's, he's always in control, this guy. Thunder six zero since he returned from his abdominal strain. And he matched Wilt Chamberlain's record for consecutive 20 point games. We'll have more on that later. We're gonna have some fun with Wilt Chamber Chamberlain records a little bit later in the show. What a game. If you didn't watch it, at least go check the highlights. I mean, they got the final, what, five, six minutes up on NBA YouTube page.
C
Still good.
A
At least watch that. But the whole game was a banger. All right, let's talk.
B
75% of the stream team is saying
A
game of the year. Okay. Yeah, okay. I mean, you made a funny point though. Like, it is like you can't really remember the other games because I know we've said that before.
B
Exactly. I'm like the only other game of the year I can remember is the Thunder playing against. Who do they even play in Game 1? The Rockets, I think.
C
Yeah. Double overtime.
A
Pacer. Oh, they had the Pacers game too. They went to double overtime, didn't they?
C
Oh, they went to two, double overtime. But it started with the Rockets.
B
That's in the mix for sure.
A
Yeah. Oh, maybe Shea had 50 and that Pacers game. I think he did.
C
I couldn't tell you.
A
Yeah, it'll.
C
I just remember playing the Rockets.
A
There's been some other great games, but that was a great game and maybe the game of the year. And 75% people say it was. So that's all that matters.
B

Okay, let's go to the other game on the CAC Last night it was Kawhi powering the Clippers past the Knicks to reach 500 for the first time since November. Clippers 32 and 32. After that brutal start to the year, they've won five of their first six games here in March as they try and improve their position in the play and tournament task. Start with you on this one. Any key takeaways from the Clips beating the Knicks?
C
Well, first half it was Kawhi Leonard watching him score 21 points. I mean that mean move against OG and an OBI, the fake and the pullback right before half.
A
Oh gee, got sputter. Yeah, he's still challenged but holy crap.
B
Oh you got cooked too. He got cooked in this entire first half. 10 straight to end the second quarter for Kawhi. And I do think the between the legs snatchback is kind of getting the most buzz. But I was most impressed when Kawhi just put OG Anunoby in the basket, took him from the top of the key and took him right underneath the rim. OG Anunoby is one of the strongest wings out there and he looked like a child compared to Kawhi Leonard who was his teammate once upon a time. I think.
A
Yes, they were.
B
They played.
C
Yeah, but to see what he's doing and it definitely pales in comparison to the number of games that Shea Gillander has scored 20 or more. But Kawhi has done it over 40 games consecutively. Now that's the most of his career. And to be watching him do what he did to OG Anunoby, just watching him if I know we get caught in the moment, but it feels like this is the best stretch of his career. I know we can go back to the spurs days where he may have been playing better defense. He was playing better defense then, so he's playing it on both ends right before he got injured for the first time, but that was fantastic. And Darius Garland, I thought Lee looked the best that he's looked since joining the Clippers. Now in the starting lineup, this is second starting, second game that he's starting, 23.7 assists, only two turnovers and five threes hit a shot late. So that combined with Derek Jones Jr. I think because we'll always talk about Kawhi, we'll talk about Darius Garland, but I thought Derek Jones Jr. Was really, really, really important like he was for the Mavs when they went to the finals. Seven boards, two assists, three steals and two blocks. And a huge block on Jalen Brunson with two minutes left when the Knicks were getting momentum. But here comes Derek Jones Jr. Those are the types of guys you absolutely need. So the Clippers, are they ready for the playoffs or what? Sure feels that way amongst those four play in teams that they're a part of with Golden State, Phoenix and Portland, you would have to pick the Clippers and the Phoenix deserves lots of respect. But you'd pick the Clippers.
A
Yeah. Fun point from Ghostface Ziller in his newsletter this morning. We're on track here provided the Clippers don't tank out in the play in tournament because they are in the eighth seed. So they'd be in the 78 game there and have two cracks that getting in for a first round series against OKC, which could be fun because it'd be like a SGA revenge sort of series. Or they could play San Antonio, which would be a Kawhi potential revenge series. So yeah, the Eclipse looked great. I thought Benedict Mathurin was great as well. I mean the Knicks closed this game like they got it to within five a couple times down the stretch, but it was like a Mather and three point play. I think Derek Jones Jr. Hit a big three. So the Clippers had an answer every single time. The Knicks like looked like they were gonna like make their run to maybe take control but never get over the hump.
C
Yeah, Derek Jones Jr. Four threes. I didn't mention that. That's a good number for him, that's for sure.
B
He's a full name guy.
A
He has to be.
B
Yeah. Can't be Jones, Jones.
C
It's not a Jones or even Jones
B
Jr. Full Derek Jones.
A
Yeah.
B
Another guy that could have been drafted in our underrated player draft if we went more than three rounds. But the Clippers are super interesting to me because everybody knows they started poorly. 6 and 21, they turned it around with James Harden still in the mix, Vita Zubots still in the mix. This was a very slow team. All the moves they made at the trade deadline were bringing in Garland, bringing in Matheran bringing in Isaiah Jackson and, you know, a little bit more of Janikkon and Niederhauser, he's out of the out for the season. So now Jackson is playing more and now they're a completely different team than the Harding Kawhi team, which was so slow last night. 19 to 11. In the fast break point category, the Clippers forced 20 turnovers. That turned into 24 points since the trade deadline. LA is ninth and fast break points, fifth in points off of turnovers prior to the trade deadline, 28th in fast break points, 18th in points off of turnovers. Now, part of that is because of the bad start they had when they looked so, so slow. But now with those three guys, Garland, Mather and Jackson, they really push the pace. They really fly up and down the court. If you turn the ball over, they're going the other way with it. And Matheran is a huge part of that. He gets downhill in a snap. Garland, I agree with you. He looked really, really good last night. 23 points, seven assists and five threes. And this has been great, I think, for Brook Lopez. Zubots going out. Lopez getting into the starting lineup means he's got better setup men. Sometimes it's going to be Kawhi. I thought Kawhi was pretty solid as a playmaker in the second half when they started doubling him, making him give the ball up. He got rid of it early. Lopez was either finding guys in the short roll or hitting jumpers, little floaters, things like that. He's also got Garland able to create for him. It's two completely different teams. They had the slow version of the Clippers that was really good, and now they got the fast version of the Clippers that's really good. And a huge part of that is because Kawhi is dominating right now. I think he's like the fifth leading scorer in the league for the past three months. They got to stay in the eighth seed because if it's a one game and out, that's just a risky place to be. So you got to stay in eighth, and I think that that's pretty reasonable because of the teams they're trying to stay ahead of are the warriors, who look pretty beat right now. Don't even know if Curry's coming back in the Blazers, who are struggling as well.
A
Yeah, yeah. And odd stretch here for the Knicks. Right. I mean, they've had some impressive wins against some good teams, but they're six and four over their last 10. So it's this weird thing where, like they sort of look good at some nights and are struggling right now here on this little bit of a road trip. And another pretty rough, I thought Mikhail Bridges game. I mean he's sort of putting up some stinkers right now, at least offensively. Katt was a monster though in this one, so just odd for them.
B
Bridges has scored 16 points combined in his last three games. He got benched down the stretch for Landry Shamit here. Only seven points on the night. It feels like him and Towns can't have a good game in the same game. Yeah, just not enough shots to go around. I don't know. I thought Towns was awesome last night. I thought him and Brunson had a great connection. Brunson did a good job of getting Townes the ball with a lot of space to get downhill. He was doing his very awkward flaily layups. Felt like he was landing on a cameraman every three attempts. But it just doesn't feel like they're able to get all three of those guys to play well. You can get Brunson and Bridges to play well, you can get Brunson and Towns to play well, but not all three.
A
That's a good point.
C
Yeah, they started slow, that's for sure. And I thought he used Skeets because Grand Hill said quote Knicks looking a little sluggish. They didn't play well last night yesterday against the Lakers because it was a day game yesterday.
A
Grant Hill. I love music. I love you, Grant Hill.
C
Just, just, just go with it, man. Last night, like anyone would have said anything.
A
Let's show you the. You got more.
C
No, no, no. Go ahead.
A
All right, let's show you the other results. Just quickly because the games were not amazing. But the warriors did lose to the Jazz. That was sort of, I guess the shocker. And that's why they slipped to the ninth seed in the Western Conference and allowed the Clippers same record but to bump ahead of them in the eighth spot. Nets took care of the Grizz there and Cavaliers beat the Sixers there. Shorthanded Sixers. Any thoughts on any of those games?
B
Yeah, there was a lot of big dunks in Nets versus Grizzlies. Gigi Jackson had one, Javon Small had one. But the biggest was Dahron Sharpe that had Ian Eagle scream. He just frame mogged the Grizzlies. This made the NBA.com recap today.
A
Yeah.
B
Can you imagine being a grown man and hearing for the first time he just frame mogged the Grizzlies. What would even go through your mind?
A
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, exactly.
B
Yeah. My dad catching up. Frame logged. Excuse me? Like he googles it suddenly my dad knows about clavicular.
A
Yeah, maybe.
B
I can't imagine that.
A
How does Eagle. How does Iron Eagle learn of it?
C
Staying with the kids, man.
B
Yeah, but yeah, he's got a young son.
C
He does. Yeah.
B
No, no one knows about.
A
Yeah, sure.
B
Frame frame logging and face hammering.
A
You think? Noah Eagles texting Dad. Hey, hey, hey, Pops, if you can slip in a frame mod tonight on Big Dunk. Yeah, I don't know.
B
Eagles tapped in, though.
A
Oh, I agree.
B
He's definitely tapped in. Yeah, that was crazy to hear.
C
What was it last year when he used. He said Skibidi. Last year he was down. Yeah, I think he's down to try them out. I think we made it part of a say what segment where we would imitate what the announcer said. Or maybe he just said it. He. He probably said it because I remember Sarah Coustock, who is his analyst beside him. They were talking about skibidi. What else were they talking about?
A
Sounds right.
C
They were doing every kid thing. So he's. He's down with it, that's for sure.
A
In the warriors game, we had Brandon Podimski. He missed all four of his free throw attempts in the fourth quarter. So I. I think he gave the fans in Salt Lake City some, I don't know, free chick Fil A or something. Whatever they get in the missing of free throws.
B
Do they double up if you miss four?
C
That's a good call.
B
Or is this one sandwich only?
A
I think in some places they do. Wow, the brick and for chicken type thing, because I listen to that podcast, the Pablo podcast. I think they do in some spots. But anyway. Yeah, not good at the line.
C
Yeah, the warriors not playing anybody. You mentioned Steph. They're also didn't play Kristaps poor Zingis yesterday, who we thought he was healthy now. And I thought, okay, that must have been a back to back because we did talk about their game, but it was on Sunday. But no, it was a Saturday to a Monday. So surprising that he wasn't playing. I will say the Jazz played it extremely. Start with smart with Keonte George saying he had the flu going into this game. He played until the fourth quarter. Now that's how you get around the rules.
A
What a workaround. Just come into every game going, there's a flu bug going around right now. Every guy's got it. Yeah, they're gonna. They're gonna try and give it a go, play them three quarters.
B
Feels like he's got like three quarters. I can go for three quarters, Coach.
A
Yeah. That's all I can give you.
C
Yeah, but the guys that they're playing like in the fourth quarter, they're playing Elijah Harkless, Kyle Phillipowski had a good game, didn't play the entire fourth quarter for some reason. Blake Hinson, who was playing for the G League warriors team, Santa Cruz warriors team. But he's gone his way, gone to the Utah Jazz. They should be beat. Even if the warriors don't have every one of their guys. He said Brandon Bajemski should beat him. They should lose that game. That's the scary part about the Warriors. They need their guys. And it's surprising that even Kristaps didn't play. I guess it's not surprising.
B
It's never surprising when he doesn't play.
C
No, it's not. Yeah. Yeah, that's unfortunate. But they're the. Again, when we're talking about the play in teams, if you're seeing this version of the Golden State warriors, the Clippers and the Suns, they got to be up there. But the Clippers are probably. They are the one out of that four that's going to make it.
A
Yeah, Yeah, I. I would agree with that. The warriors have been dead to me for weeks.
B
So their season ended when Butler got hurt, unfortunately. And Curry hasn't played in how long? I don't know if he's even going to come back this season.
C
Yeah, he does. He does say he's going to.
A
Yeah.
C
But.
A
Yeah, we'll find out.
C
Jumper's knee. No, runner's knee.
B
Runner's knee, that's right.
A
Got some NBA news.
B
Oh, sorry. I did have one more.
A
Oh, go ahead.
B
This one's for our Dutch fans. It was a big day for the Dutch. Tristan and Aruna plays for the Cavs. Malevi Leon plays for the warriors. And Quentin Post also plays for the Warriors. Three players with Dutch heritage doing Hank Benders proud.
C
Hank?
B
Oh, you know Hank Benders?
C
Yeah, sure do.
B
Of course. You know Hank Benders.
C
Yeah. I'm getting fed. The note that I have about being Dutch, I'm getting fed because we did the smelling salts. This ice cream that has painkillers within it that they serve in. In the Netherlands. Yeah. And the ice cream looks good. Painkillers part, you know, it's not for me, but. But very interesting to have it. They have it mixed in. I don't know the store. I don't know the location. I don't know if it's part of a chain. Interesting. But anyway, ice Cream is the painkiller, right? I mean, just in. In. Yeah, itself. Eat it when you're sad and then
A
you're not sad anymore.
C
Literally, there are painkillers in it.
A
Cream or popsicles. When I had a headache too, he was always like, it was his number one thing to fix a headache.
B
Make the inside of your mouth cold as well.
A
Yeah. He was convinced.
B
Interesting.
A
I think it worked better with a popsicle than ice cream, but. Yeah.
C
Well, because you're dehydrated.
B
Maybe.
A
Maybe. Interesting. All right, let's get to some news here. Luke Cornett, you did it. You son of a. The NBA is canceling the Atlanta Hawks upcoming Magic City promotional night. Adam Silver wrote in a statement that was released yesterday, quote, when we became aware of the Atlanta Hawks scheduled promotion, we reached out to Hawks leadership to better understand their plans and rationale. While we appreciate the team's perspective and their desire to move forward, we have heard significant concerns from a broad array of league stakeholders, including fans, partners and employees. I believe canceling this promotion is the right decision for the broader NBA community. So there it is. Magic City on March 16th against the Magic here in Atlanta. Will. Well, I was going to say will not be happening. It just won't be called Magic City. Don't worry. TI is still going to perform. The pre ordered merchandise is going to still be delivered. I guess you won't be able to buy it at the arena, which was going to be a part of this. But no podcast. No podcast. Podcast has been canceled as well.
C
What about the wings?
B
Wings are in.
A
I think the wings are still in. Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
The culinary experiences of the state Farmerina, I think they said.
C
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
A
So, I mean. Yeah. Any reaction to this?
B
I. I didn't have a ton of reaction. I mean, it just seems to me that there should be a different operating procedure for how these Knights get approved so that you don't have to go back and cancel something. Sure. Like this. Like they said that they got. They said that the league has to approve all merchandise. So they said yes to a Magic City hoodie. And I think the quote was, hopefully they know what they've approved. Apparently they didn't.
A
No, I guess not.
B
Because, I mean, this is not surprising that it would be canceled. Right. Like, I think it's kind of obvious that we've never had a strip club promotion in the NBA and for reasons, I would say for cause. Because there are a lot of people who feel the same way as Luke Cornette. It is a family friendly enterprise. The Hawks were calling it a cultural institution so that they wouldn't have to say it's a strip club. So they knew they were working around something, it feels like to me.
A
Of course.
B
So this doesn't mean strip clubs were
A
going to be dancing in the aisles. No, of course.
B
Of course.
A
It was Wings, it was merch, and it was ti.
B
It's going to be basically the exact same thing.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
So should it. Shouldn't the league have to approve your promotions before the season? Right, is what it seems like to me.
C
Yeah. Agreed. They were trying to please both sides when they made the announcement. Like the performers or dancers were not going to be a part of this whatsoever. It was going to be ti, Wings, sweater and a pregame podcast, which has been canceled. The pregame podcast was going to be about the production of a documentary about Magic City and that whole thing and how it is cultural and the cultural impact here in Atlanta. But now that is out the door, I suppose, because it involves ownership and because it's just. It's just a podcast talking about Atlanta. So that's not a huge deal. But that's. That's gone.
A
This does get lost in the sauce here in the lemon pepper wet sauce, I guess. And you said it, Trey, when we first talked about this, but I don't hear a lot of other people bring it up. The reason the Hawks plan this event to begin with is because team owner, co owner, I should say Jamie Gertz, is the executive producer of this docu series about Magic City that is like currently airing or about to come out. Like, that's the synergy, that's the crossover of why they even got here to then do the merch, which they sold a ton of. I mean, they made a lot of money on that. The pre ordered stuff. Who knows how much they lost out on.
C
Now those people are going to make even more money.
A
Sure. And obviously the performance of ti, which Atlanta, if you go to a State Farm game, they have a rapper performance performing. Not of TI's status, but they have a rapper performing every game. I'm not even exaggerating. Not at halftime, between timeouts, they'll just go to some random rapper sometimes. Random. The other night, you know who it was? I popped. It was Hurricane Chris. I was like, oh, my God, I know this guy, I know this rapper. I know this song.
C
Anyway, yeah, it's pretty awesome when they
B
do it just during a break because
A
they have them sitting there in that like Michelob Ultra scene seat and then they just pop up with a mic in Their hand.
C
Two and a half minutes.
A
Yeah, they just bang out a song. So, like, yeah, that was the whole idea behind this. And then, you know, I guess you do wonder, if Lou Cornet doesn't blog about this, does it still go through? Because that, of course, drew a lot of. Because it was announced.
B
Great question.
A
We talked about it. We was like, oh, wow, that's a pretty funny. A little weird. It is a strip club, but it's very, you know, important to the city of Atlanta. And, like, okay, they're not having strippers there. It's, like, going to be music and wings and merchants. And then we sort of left it, and it sort of was like, okay, that's what's gonna happen. And then obviously it made the news once again when Lou Cornett called it out. Now Horford jumped on, and more people are saying, yeah, what are we doing here? Which then, of course, made its way to stakeholders, other owners, like, hold on, let me look up Magic City on Instagram. Like, whoa, what's going on here? Because I just don't think a lot of people probably knew that don't live here or whatever. And then they're like, we can't do that.
C
That.
A
So, you know, I don't. I don't. If Luke doesn't say anything, I think this probably still happens. Probably Uncle Luke.
B
Uncle Luke would have a different opinion.
C
I believe
A
so. Anyway. I want to shout out Sam Quinn for reminding me that this is not the first time the NBA has crossed paths with Magic City. 2020 Clippers guard Lou Williams on an approved absence from the Orlando bubble in order to attend a funeral in Atlanta. What happened while he was absent? He was photographed. He was spotted at Magic City, I think by Jack Harlow, the rapper, if I remember correctly, or with him. And everyone's like, what the hell? He just left the bubble to go to Magic City. Now he said, I'm just getting wings. I just love those wings. But this is the second time now the NBA and Magic City have at least made news.
C
Many establishments were open during the bubble because everything else was closed. And I. And by establishments, I mean adult establishments. Sure, sure. Yep, I did.
A
Well, this is. I've talked to some people with the Hawks before. This news broke that they were going to cancel it. And there was, like, some concern that people were going to go to this game on March 16th with probably something in their head of what a Magic City night at the Atlanta Hawks game was going to be. And they were going to be greatly disappointed because they were like, we're not really Doing anything. Like it's just going to be a game with TI performing, basically that's it. It's gonna be no different. And so he thought, you know, people might. They're probably coming with expectations that people are gonna be making it rain from the rafters. $1 bills. Like, it's not gonna be that now.
B
They're gonna be making it rain with Chick Fil A. Yeah. Cows flying from the rafters.
A
So, I mean, they don't have to worry about that now because I guess it's canceled. But I also know they got a lot of calls about what are we doing over here, why are we doing this. Yeah, of course it became an issue
B
and they sold a ton of tickets for a markup as well.
A
Well, that's interesting. I mean, not like they're going to refund these people. A lot of those are on the secondary market. I imagine a lot of people that had Hawk season tickets sold this game because the prices like skyrocketed.
C
The tickets for the actual podcast, which were sold separately, I suppose, are being refunded. That was noted.
A
Sure, sure.
C
Yeah. Just a note.
A
But not.
C
I didn't.
A
Not these people that's paid like twice the amount for a normal ticket here in Atlanta to go to this event, to this promotion. How are they going? They're not getting their money back.
C
Yeah, but it's not going to be all that different, really. I mean.
A
No, you're right.
C
Yes. They will not say Magic City on the video board. There won't be any sort of tie ins.
A
No.
C
Well, yeah, as you mentioned, I mean, it's all about the tie in. So that is not happening.
A
Let's hear what everybody thinks. I mean, look, and the other part of this is you got to roll your eyes at how quickly the NBA responds to something like this when all the other shit, all the other issues with the league is going on. Yeah, I'm sorry. Like, it's weird. It is a little odd. Very quickly are like canning this when all the gambling and. And people that are like domestic abusers play in this league and well, well, you can't do anything. I don't know. You got to roll your eyes at that.
C
Yeah.
B
They also still didn't do anything until somebody said something, you know.
A
Yeah, well, it seems like that's how Adam Silver operates.
B
Exactly.
A
All right, Other piece of news. The Hornets are sending a 2026 second round draft pick to the Miami Heat to resolve a dispute over Terry Rozier being under NBA and federal investigations over an alleged gambling conspiracy during the team's trade in 2024, so the pick will be more favorable of either Golden State's or Denver's second round selections. Any thoughts on this? TAs seems appropriate.
C
Seems like the appropriate punishment. Second round pick still not clear as to who knew what and what knew and which team knew of the scenario. But because that's unclear, second round pick is the punishment. So it feels appropriate, I suppose.
B
Yeah, exactly. I think the Heat still owe a pick to the Hornets, a first round pick that making this one of the worst trades in NBA history. Considering Terry Rose here never really did anything for the Heat and now literally can't play for him. It's also the Hornets are sending another team's draft pick back, right? So they're not actually out the pocket of any of their own picks. I forget what the two teams were, but yeah, that seems fair.
A
Yeah, I should note Terry Rozier pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges of wire fraud and money laundering. And then in early February we did learn that his $26.6 million salary, which had been held in escrow since December, would be released after an arbitrator found that under the terms of the cba, players cannot be put on unpaid leave other than in cases for domestic abuse or child abuse. So they were like, this isn't that Give me my money. Give him his money under the cba. So and then we get to this part. So maybe, maybe that part is all done, but obviously still the whole gambling conspiracy of it. Of it all. We're still waiting on the Kawaii and Clippers and aspiration of it all.
B
Yes, the the one that started the earliest.
A
There will be no wings at the State Farm Arena. I guess there will be. There's gonna be wings. It just will not be Magic City Wings. Don't say that.
B
There just won't be hoodies. That's about it. Hoodies and a podcast.
A
Hoodies In a podcast, it's usually us. I can't believe the one day I'm not wearing a hoodie. Okay, let's take a break and when we come back, we're gonna go through some wild Wilt Chamberlain records.

Welcome back to the show. Hit the like button. Subscribe Podcast listeners five star ratings and reviews. Really appreciate that. So funny. Dan Divine tweet last night during the game of the year he said, I will be honest, when SGA said my whole life is consistent and it became a meme, I did not think he meant I will score 20 or more consistently than every player besides Wilt Chamberlain. And I guess that was a failure of imagination on my part. Very funny stuff from our guy Dan Devine. It is kind of one of these manufactured sort of records to which like no one really paid a lot of attention to until SGA started racking up these games. But besides Wilton SGA, no one in NBA history has had a streak of 20 point nights hit triple digits. So Oscar Robertson got to 79 games. Jordan of all people. Kevin Durant maxed out at 72, Kareem 71, Kobe Bryant just 63. So it's impressive. And when something like this happens, it sends me down an NBA rabbit hole. And because of that, I've compiled five of my favorite most insane Wilt Chamberlain NBA records.
B
Top five Top five Top five Top five Top five.
A
I want to make this very clear. These are just some of my favorites, not maybe the most notable ones. In fact, his three most notable records are one most points scored in the game 100, which he did back in 62 against the Knicks. Most minutes played per game for a season. That one always makes me chuckle because it's 48.53. And I know what you're thinking. Hold on. How is that possible? Isn't the game 48 minutes long? Well, yeah, overtime, baby. He did that in 61. 62.
B
That's the most unbreakable record in the NBA.
A
Unbelievable.
B
Somebody will get 100 before that happens.
A
Oh, guaranteed. He holds the top seven spots in that category for most minutes played per game for a season. And then the third Wilt Chamberlain record. I mean, this guy was the Bonnie Blue of his generation, having sex with 10,000 women. So there's that. Those are the three Wilt Chamberlain records that you think of, but I got some other fun ones.
C
Is that on Basketball Reference?
A
Yes, it is one of my favorites. You know, we talk about the 100 point game, but what about his first game ever? Most points scored by a player in his NBA debut? Wilt went for 43. My reaction to that when I saw feels low, but again, pretty impressive. First game ever in the NBA after a frustrating junior season when he was with Kansas, he wanted to become a professional player. But at the time, the NBA did not accept players until after their college graduating class had been completed. So what did he do? I'll go play for the Harlem Globetrotters. So he did that and got paid pretty handsomely in 1958. I think he made like $50,000. But then he made his NBA debut October 24, 1959, starting for the Philadelphia Warriors. And he was also the NBA's highest paid player. Immediately he signed for $30,000 in his rookie contract. And he put up numbers right away. 43 points, 28 rebounds in game number one. Good game. It's a pretty good game.
B
I need to know how many he had in that first game for the Globetrotters, though.
A
Yeah, true. Yeah.
C
Probably dominated ahead of his time.
A
How many buckets of confetti did he throw? Yeah, that's what I want to know.
C
It's like. It's like Brandon Jennings going to play in Italy for a year, you know, just got to do something else. Brandon Jennings also ahead of his time.
A
Frank Selvi ranks second all time with 35 points in his 1954 NBA debut. Do you know who's third happened this year?
B
Happened this year? First game? Cooper. No, I don't think so. He didn't. He had 10 in his first game. Didn't score in the first half.
C
You gotta. I'M guessing it was con. Canymple.
A
Nope. The other one. Go the other one, guys.
C
Oh, V.J.
A
he had 34 points against the Celtics.
C
Yeah.
A
In a very entertaining game. That was a close game. That was game of the year at one point in late October. So other notable NBA debuts. Oscar Robertson, 21 points, 12 boards, 10 assists. I like that. He had triple double in his first game ever. It's pretty cool. Bill Walton, 18 points, 24 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks. Isaiah Thomas for the Pistons, 31 points, 11 assists. What a game. And who can forget Michael Carter Williams? 22 points, 12 assists, nine steals versus the heels of all teams. Yeah, Michael Carter Williams. NCW.
B
He won the Rookie of the Year that game.
A
That's right. Pretty much, yeah.
B
Apparently Wilt Chamberlain scored 25 in his first game as a globetrotter. Real low number.
A
Very low.
B
But how many bits did he do? Yeah, hard to figure out.
A
So Will broke eight NBA records during his first season and he was named both rookie of the year and mvp. So he won MVP there in his rookie year. All right, next one here. This one was in the news a couple seasons ago. Most consecutive field goals made.
C
I remember.
A
Yeah, Wilt has the record. Still 35. But two seasons ago, Mavericks big man Daniel Gaffer. That's right. He entered a prime time game against OKC. Just 3, 3 made field goals away from surpassing Wilts 57 year old record at the time of 35. Like I said, consecutive field goals made. But Gafford botched it. Missed on his first field goal attempt in that game. And this snapped. Yeah, but it still belongs to Wilt. This one will be beaten. Pretty confident in that. I mean if Daniel Gafford was flirting with it though. That said like I think like, like I don't. Most guys never even flirt with 30. It like sort of always taps out around that 20 mark. 20 low 20s.
C
Ryan Cal Reiner can do it. Yeah, just the dunk.
A
Just gotta dunk away. Just don't do anything else.
B
Like all dunks.
A
Mitchell Robinson or. Yeah.
C
Was Gafford shot kind of far away from the rim? I'm trying to remember. Like it feels like he was going for it. Maybe went a little bit further out of his range. But I, I do forget actually once
B
you get over 30, you can't risk it on anything.
A
No.
C
Right, right.
B
Only a dunk attempt. Not a hook, not a floater, not even a layup. Just slam it.
C
Yeah.
A
So he, he could have like you're saying he could have beaten this if he really committed to it.
B
If you locked in?
C
Yeah, yeah. Like it could have been right at the end of the shock lock and he decided to shoot it when he should have just held it.
A
So Wilt's record still stands, which is pretty wild. 35 straight. All right, next one. You know we Talked about the 20 point games consecutive streak that now Shay has tied. Will probably break in his next game. But Wilt has the most consecutive games with 30 plus points. A little even more impressive. 65 straight games of 30 plus. And it's. I saw Steve Ashburner write about this. It is worth noting not all scoring streaks are created equal when you're comparing Wilts to SGAs. Because Wilt averaged 49.2 points per game in the 126 games where he scored. 20 plus. That's good. 49.2 high number. So Shay's. Shay's around 30, right? A little over 30. I mean it's very impressive as well. But will Chamberlain scored 30 or more 120 times during the 20 plus streak.
B
He wasn't just getting to 20.
A
Yeah. That said one area in which Shea Streak outshines Wilts team success, OKC, 102 wins to 24 losses over Shea Streak compared to Wilt Chamberlain's 66 and 60 mark, just above.500.
B
Interesting.
A
So I mean obviously OKC teams elite, but Shay coming through in victories there a lot more than Wilts. Wilt's streak ended, by the way, on January 20, 1963 when he was ejected just four minutes into the game. So this is another one of like, oh, it only stopped because he was ejected. He had six points four minutes into the game. He was.
B
Wonder what happened?
A
He was arguing a foul call on a teammate and he started another streak of 20 points that reached 92 games.
C
So he was on pace for 72 that game and he got ejected.
A
Yeah.
B
Right.
A
So Will also has the most consecutive games with 40 plus points. He did 14. He did that twice. Most consecutive games with 50 plus points. He did seven in a row in 1961. And most consecutive games with 60 plus points? Four in 1962.
B
Okay, but everybody knows DeMar DeRozan was the first player in NBA history to score 35 or more points and shoot 50% or better for seven straight games.
A
Everybody knows that.
B
Remember that huge story.
A
All right, my next one here. Wilt Chamberlain, he has the top four highest single season points per game averages in NBA history. And the number one with a bullet is the 50.4 points per game which he averaged in the 196162 season. He went nuclear. And you say like you brought up the minutes played. It will never be beat 100% because nobody's doing that. This one's never being beaten either.
B
I think that's right.
A
We'll see 100 point game well before we see somebody actually averaging over 50. Yeah, over 50 for a season. But this guy was a seven time scoring champ and it just got better and better. Right. He averaged 37.6 points per game in the 5960 season. Just to put that in perspective, MJ topped out at 37.1 points per game way back when he was young. MJ. 86. 87. So he was already there next season. Will bumped it up to 38.4. Then he got to 50.4 and then he followed that up with 44.8. They must have been saying like he's washed. He's washed. After averaging 50 per game and only getting to like just around 45 a game. Unbelievable, man.
C
Yeah, kids were saying washed back then.
B
Yeah, they were saying washed.
A
Final one a favorite. Let's take it away from scoring.
C
Yeah.
A
Big beef man, over here.
C
Yeah.
A
This guy had a lot of those. Most career rebounds in NBA history. 23,924. And I'll try and put that in perspective, please. You could add the next two. Or our two active leaders in most rebounds ever, Lebron James and Andre Drummond. Active leaders in total rebounds in their careers. And they are still 600 or so rebounds short of Wilt's own insane number. That's a lot of rebounds. That's a lot of roast beef. That's a guy ate a lot of roast beef.
B
723. 20 rebound games for Wilt Chamberlain. Guess what? That's the most NBA.
A
Maybe never. That's crazy. So anyway, some fun stats there on Wilt.
B
He's Babe Ruth. He's the Babe Ruth of the NBA.
A
Yeah.
B
Played forever ago. And the numbers that he put up are unbelievable.
A
They're just crazy, man. They're just crazy. I think the only other guy over 20, 000 rebounds is probably Bill Russell. I'm pretty sure that's right. Yep. So there you go, some fun Wilt numbers as SGA gets ready to at least break one of his records because I'm pretty confident he'll score 20 plus in the next game. What if he gets tossed as a tribute? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That'd be cool, actually. Very, very cool. Just arguing. Lou Dort literally punches a guy in the balls and SG is like, you can't throw him out for that. He didn't mean this to us. Yeah, he didn't mean it will Bite of the night sponsored by the Heat Checker app. What's Heat Checker? Let me tell you. Instantly tells you which NBA games are actually worth your time without spoiling the outcome. So spoiler free. Every game gets an excitement score and these smart labels so you know exactly what you're getting. This is a really cool thing I think for international people, European fans or people that don't have enough time for highlights.
C
Right.
A
Apparently they're going to be doing it for March Madness too. It's available for iOS and Android. That's Heat Checker. C H E C K R It's all one word website. In the notes shouts to no dunks fan Jonas Kubler who made this app. It's pretty cool.
C
That's cool.
A
It's a nice little. I I, I heard of things like this before but I like how it looks. I like that. I like the smart labels telling you particular things. It's using this whole algorithm to break it all down. Like I can't wait to see like somebody check he checker. What was that game? That game last night?
B
It's gotta be, gotta be recommended.
A
Has to be.
B
You're gonna want to check this one out.
A
Game of the year possibility. But whoa, boy goes to SGA. I mean it was between Jokic and SGA but we'll go SGA. 35 points in the win, 14 to 21 from the field. Career high. 15 assists, nine rebounds, one steal, one block. And I included it on the woah graphic because I am still really impressed with the zero turnovers in basically 40 minutes of action where they were running two, three guys at him at a time. That's pretty impressive to me. So good game, good game, good game,
C
good pick, good pick.
A
Thank you.
B
That was a. Did you hear Austin Rivers on the
A
call at the end?
B
Great game guys.
A
Great game. Guys. Look, he's talking to like the, the, the truck or something.
B
He was feeling it.
C
Yeah. A lot of the time he said this is just a great game to watch. It's just fun to watch. He's just happy to be there.
A
God, he's got the best seats in the house. Those guys. Man, I can't blame him. That's all I'd be saying. This game's awesome, man. Pick him. T woo boy. One and five after the Knicks lost. You guys are five and one. You guys just keep picking together and it's working for you.
C
Yep.
A
One of these days you'll have to turn on each Other. And I can't wait to see it. But where are we going tonight?
C
Well, this one was difficult to pick, so I asked Danielle, asked my wife, who's winning tonight, Celtics or Spurs? In an instant, she picked the Celtics.
A
Wow.
C
I said, okay. Wow. I get three and a half points.
A
She's got east coast bias.
C
The spurs are favored by 3 1/2 at home against Boston. We had to pick this as the game of the season happened yesterday, but who knows what we get tonight?
A
Get another one tonight.
C
Trey and I are picking together again. The Celtics again. Just have to lose by three or when, obviously, Skeets, you have the spurs one by four or more.
A
Yeah. Yes, I do. Let's start hearing pick and payoff suggestions. It's gonna be. I mean, I have time here to get out of this hole, and I've maybe even done it before this season. But start getting your suggestions in pay off for the month of March when probably I lose.
B
It's still early.
A
Yeah. I could really use a win, though.
B
It's just a week of games, though. I mean.
A
Yeah, yeah, you're right. Four games is.
B
Anybody can hit a cold streak.
A
You're right.
C
Ice cream with painkillers. You want to try that?
A
Sure.
C
Yeah. Sounds pretty good.
A
I'm in. I had ice cream last night. French vanilla.
B
Nice.
A
I love that vanilla.
B
My new favorite ice cream is I tell Laura I want the tiniest bowl of ice cream, and she gets out, like, a dipper bowl that's this big and puts one scoop in it and gives me the smallest spoon in the household so I feel like a giant.
A
The small spoon is smart. Yeah, that's smart.
B
Savor it. It tastes delicious. But look, we're getting new research regarding ice cream these days.
C
What's the research?
B
Well, ice cream is equivalent to Greek yogurt with regards to nutritional value. In that, ice cream is surprisingly good for you, but that's been buried by big yogurt.
A
Wow.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm happy to say I've been team ice cream my entire life.
B
Team cream.
A
I'm not even a yogurt guy, so. Yeah, yeah. Hence this pod.
B
Hey, ice cream is good tasting and maybe if it's good for you. Come on. What about exciting?
C
What about the milk content? You know, the lack.
B
That's what they're saying. That's what. That's what they're saying. It's. Who knows? It's like, why didn't we know this now?
A
Right?
B
Why were you keeping that from us? Can we trust anything that these people are saying about nutritional Recommendations. If ice cream's good for you, what else is good for you?
A
Smoking.
C
Well, that's a good question. Well, I saw you go in full fat on Greek yogurt yesterday, right?
A
You were taking down a tub.
B
I was taking down a tub. I got another one waiting for me.
C
It was a full fat. It was a 10% milk fat. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's, that's a lot of fat's good for you. That's, that's another report that's supposed to be not good for you.
B
I'm in it for the protein. Trying to get my muscles up.
A
All right, well this might, this conversation might continue tonight in the live chat on Substack because we're firing this up. It's been a while where we just hang out, chat together while we watch the game. 8pm Eastern. It'll really kick off Celtic spurs, which is our pick em game. And yeah, come join us. Link is in the show. Notes to hit us up on Substack or join our sub stack. You can be. I guess this one is open for everyone so come check it out. See what we're working with over there. Have a lot of fun when we've done this before, but it has been a while. I don't remember the last game we did a long time ago.
B
Long time.
A
We're back, baby. Now these games start getting real juicy. They backloaded the schedule. Let's not forget that. You know, they do it, they do it. Football. I can't play football. B
Awesome.
C
Thanks for joining us. And remember that ice cream with a painkiller. Now it could have been kind of been all a ploy here apparently. Yeah, yeah. This, this Dutch ice cream, it looks like it looks like it. Look the label on it. Look at this. They're so smart. It says paracetamol is in the 500 milligrams. It looks like it, right? It gets you. It gets you. The label gets you. You.
A
But apparently t, you're turning into my mom on Facebook. Yeah, you never know.
C
Some of this stuff saying paracetamol is in. Well, exactly. That's what it says. That's what the label says when you go to purchase it. It says it's in there, but apparently they either removed it or just had to remove the label because it didn't happen in. We, we'll, we'll do some more research.
A
Okay. Do some digging on this. We'll do some scooping on this. We'll get to who a good scoop, maybe on that coming up tomorrow. We'll see you then. Brace the day people.

What's that smell? Oh, it's spring. I know it's early, but I am ready. I can smell it. I'm ready to elevate my space. It's time to go to Wayfair. I love deciding what I'm gonna change this year. Oh yeah, the fluffy faux fur ottoman is a nice footrest. I need one for my living room. I only have a table and my feet do get sore. Looks super soft. It's nice and white. This is an iHeart podcast, Guaranteed Human.
In this episode, the No Dunks crew (hosted by J.E. Skeets along with Tas Melas, Trey Kirby, and producer JD) revel in the aftermath of a wild NBA night, headlined by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s (SGA) stunning performance against the Denver Nuggets. The crew breaks down why this game might have clinched the MVP for SGA, discusses supporting cast heroes, assesses implications for the Nuggets, and rambles through notable NBA news—from canceled promotions to Wilt Chamberlain’s unbreakable records. The show’s tone is energetic, offbeat, and loaded with basketball nerdery.
Main Topic:
The Thunder's dramatic 129–126 win in Denver, cemented by SGA’s game-winning sidestep three, is hailed as perhaps the "Game of the Year." The crew highlights how, despite OKC missing four of their top six players, SGA (35 pts, 15 asts, 0 turnovers) silences MVP debates with surgical play against a frenzied Nuggets defense.
Memorable Moment:
Despite a depleted roster, OKC’s bench and third-stringers deliver. Jalen Williams notches 29-12-3 on hyper-efficient shooting, and A.J. Mitchell, fresh off missing 20 games, pours in 24 points with a +11 plus-minus.
The Nuggets brought a playoff-level scheme to hound SGA, but couldn't pull it off. Nikola Jokic was sublime offensively, yet struggled with supporting cast production. Cam Johnson continues to disappoint, and Peyton Watson’s absence exposed defensive holes.
Lou Dort’s bizarre flagrant on Jokic (a backhand “no-look” smack) becomes an infamous highlight, sparking debate about intent and its impact on the game’s drama.
After the win, SGA is seen flashing a “two”—interpreted as a “two-time MVP” flex, a peace sign, or a nod to his jersey number. The MVP race discussion heats up, with consensus that SGA’s late-season heroics and consistency likely lock up the award.
“I have answers to the test, but I gotta see the questions first.” – SGA, on how he makes decisive clutch plays

Other Quick Hits
The NBA cancelled the Hawks' planned "Magic City Night" promotion (named for Atlanta’s iconic strip club) after public pressure, including criticism from Luke Kornet. The plan went from “cultural institution” to PR headache, highlighting the league’s sometimes inconsistent response to controversy.
Inspired by SGA matching Wilt’s 20-point games streak, Skeets shares his favorite lesser-known Wilt records:
Tas (66:04): “He’s the Babe Ruth of the NBA. Played forever ago. The numbers he put up are unbelievable.”
On SGA’s Zero Turnovers (07:21):
“To play sort of a perfect game offensively is wild.” – Skeets
On SGA’s Expansion as a Clutch Shooter (08:30):
“He has cooked up step-back threes to seal a win in each of OKC's last three games… And then you're right, Trey, he did it twice last night.” – Skeets
On Dort’s Flagrant (14:42):
“He's an artist, you know… how does he do that!” – Trey
SGA’s Viral Quote (21:55):
“I have answers to the test, but I gotta see the questions first.” – SGA
On Magic City Controversy (48:10):
“You gotta roll your eyes at how quickly the NBA responds to something like this when all the other shit, all the other issues with the league, is going on.” – Skeets
On Wilt’s Rebounding (65:19):
“Big beef man over here…Most career rebounds in NBA history. 23,924.” – Skeets
This recap covers a quintessential No Dunks episode: an obsessive breakdown of an instant-classic NBA game, peppered with offbeat humor, sports nerd tangents, big-picture discourse about MVP races and league politics, and deep dives into hoops history. The camaraderie, layered references, and playful arguments make even stats-heavy discussion feel lively and accessible.
If you haven’t listened:
This summary covers all the essential debates, storylines, and viral moments—the SGA show, the gravity of his MVP case, wild supporting performances, the Jokic duel, and the ripple effects around the Western Conference. It also serves a dose of NBA culture and history for off-court aficionados.
