Jay Skeets
Next to him, it's my top shot, hot boy, Trey Kirby. Hey, hey, yo. And over yonder, making the magic Happen, super producer JD.
JD (Super Producer)
Hello.
Jay Skeets
There he is. Hello to everybody on YouTube. Hello podcast listeners. On today's show. On today's drop, we're going to run through some of the winners and losers of the NBA draft lottery reform. It is here the three two one System. We're going to hit you with a whole boy. We'll end with some rapid fire fun. But the real reason everybody's here this morning. Hit the Zaza. We going to game seven, baby. Game seven. Game seven. That's right, Zaza. The San Antonio spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are going to seven games in the west finals. The spurs facing elimination last night took down the defending champs 118 91. We got a lot of garbage time in this one with Wemby leading the way with 28 points, 10 rebounds in just 28 minutes and SGA star Garling shooting 6 of 18 from the field. Just 15 points for him. So yeah, we're all tied up. Three, three. Game seven. Saturday night we're going to be live here in the classic factory for the watch party fun Saturday Night Live. And then. You're not excited to do that?
Trey Kirby
No, I'm very excited. We got a great host lined up, great musical guest. We don't want to spoil it now, but big names.
JD (Super Producer)
Ok.
Jay Skeets
Okay. And then the plan is we'll probably do an immediate reaction podcast two Game seven. Hopefully it's a classic. Anyway, that's Saturday night. Let's talk about last night. What surprised you Most about Game 6?
Tas Melas
I would say the way Wemby started shooting from the outside, I mean he was the best definition of a basketball player who is an assassin. He just picked his spots. He picked the way he did his interview post game. I mean the way it started, you'd think all the ridicule, all the the critics say you got to start inside out. That dude started both of his first shots from the outside and banged them both from three point land. And then the game came some to him so slowly, the way he handled the ball going into his moves into the mid range. He was just in that feel in that zone from the get go. Then he stepped outside that step back three. So a perfect balance of both. That's why OKC's got to be scared. Then he jumps into his post game interview. I counted 14 words.
Jay Skeets
Oh yeah.
Tas Melas
Through two questions he said Max two questions. He knew that going in because he left. Now you could say it was 16 words because he did say thank you to Ashley Shaman but he got the heck out of that. And the the four words that were most important, we ain't done nothing yet. I guess it was five. The way he threw it in there. Did he say we ate or Barkley style or we didn't? It was difficult to tell because he just kind of mumbled it. But literally the Game slowed down for him so much in this, in this one. All the critics say inside out, but the way he did that from outside in, that's the guy you can't mess with, right? That is the, that is the optimal version of Victor Wembanyama that people are scared about. If he could do it that way, how do you stop them?
Jay Skeets
The entire spurs team came out firing from deep. They have 14 of their 23. First quarter field goal attempts were threes. But you're right, Wemby hitting some early ones, Devin Fassell hitting some early ones. It helped San Antonio and maybe that entire arena just breathe a little bit, right? You know, like it's tense. Obviously this is a must win game. But he came out locked in and, yeah, splashed a couple and they were off and running. They led wire to wire in this game.
Trey Kirby
They led wire to wire and the three point shooting in the first quarter, they hit eight of them. Like it keeps the fans in the game. You're getting so excited as these are going down, going down, going down. Wemby's hitting a couple of them as well. Like I said, eight in the first quarter. Oklahoma City hit six through three quarters through the majority of the game. Like it was close at halftime. But when you factor in the third quarter run, obviously a blowout for San Antonio, it's just good to be home. Good to be back with the sisters getting the blessings, knocking them down 15 of 41. But I thought it came from a lot of drive and kick. Like I thought the spurs guards did a really great job of, of getting into the lane, kicking it out, maybe the three pointers there, but if not, we're just going at it again. Driving kick again, get a jumper, knock it down. If I'm the Thunder, though, I'm saying, hey, we kept Wemby out of the paint, right? Like, he didn't dominate inside. This was a hot shooting night for Victor Wembanyama. He's basically unguardable when you do that. But the spurs didn't score a ton of points in the pain. I think they ended up with 44. Now, that's because they were raining fire from three, of course. But if I'm a Thunder fan, I'm saying when we get back to okc, they're not shooting as well. We're going to be the ones who are shooting hot. And we did a decent job of keeping Wemby out of the paint. You just got to hope he misses as well because there's not a lot of defense that you can do. When he is taking a step back jumper, he's seven, five.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Six shots in the paint for him. It was a balance for him. You're living with that if you're.
Trey Kirby
If you're the Thunder. He didn't dominate inside and he didn't really start inside either. This was a perimeter game for Wemby.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Like you said about the spurs, hey, we came home. That's what the Thunder got to be hoping for, going home in game seven because they had a lot of guys just couldn't hit shots. And it did start with Shay, as you said.
Jay Skeets
Oh, man, he has been bottled up here. Yeah, he has. And.
Tas Melas
And his.
Jay Skeets
He's.
Tas Melas
He's out of his rhythm, too. I mean, you look a lot of
Jay Skeets
Castle and other guys switching on to him.
Tas Melas
Yeah. But he's also.
Jay Skeets
Credit has to go. This guy has put up 30 points per game on unbelievable efficiency for four straight seasons.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
And now this is the worst he's ever looked. The correlation is this. I mean, credit to the spurs defense and how.
Trey Kirby
Yes.
Jay Skeets
Just unbelievably hard. They're playing. He's missing shots. Yeah. It was weird to see him miss that little left hand layup when he maybe could have passed it to Caruso, but Lacelle challenged it. There's the other part.
Tas Melas
He's out of his flow. There is no doubt he's missing makeable shots for him. He hasn't had a good game since game two. I would say.
Trey Kirby
No. Four straight games under 40%. He had nine total during the regular season. Back to back once. So this is the best defense he's seen all year.
Jay Skeets
Yes.
Trey Kirby
And it's basically just one on one defense. I mean, there's help for sure when he gets under the free throw line. Wemby is doing a good job of just being there. Cornett was doing a good job of just being there. Oklahoma City, definitely in game seven needs to find ways to move those guys out of the lane because they're playing one on one defense. Shale maybe get a shoulder buy. But then there's a seven footer just.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Hand in the face, just waiting for him right there. That allows the spurs to stay closer to the three point shooters as well. We're not seeing huge shooting numbers last night from any of those guys. So zero. They're really impressive what the spurs are doing. And it's a lot of different guys. Like Castle's the main guy, but V has been really solid as well. Fox is at least giving an effort when he catches Shay on a switch. I thought Kelton Johnson was solid last night. Carter, Bryant, they come in, they say, just smash into this guy a few times. He's going to hate it. And then play the defense as well. I give Mitch Johnson a lot of credit. Carter Bryant has had a lot of rookie moments in this series, but he's still getting a chance. Got a chance in a game six. This was a must win game and he performed. I thought so. Spurs are doing great against Shea. Maybe that means he's due. Or maybe that means they've got the recipe at least to make things tough on him.
Jay Skeets
Sorry, I thought you were going to say something. San Antonio led 60 to 53 at the half. This was still a close game. That was an awesome first half. Super entertaining. Had a great flow to it. Hey, credit to the officials. I thought last night, let the boys play. We did have for the most part some really nice basketball. Good flow, like I said. Now, there were a few reviews that we probably didn't need that ended up bogging it down a little bit. But that third quarter was when the spurs pulled away task a 20 to 0 run with Wemby on the bench for a majority of this, if not all that. Right. And that was just the smothering spurs defense on okc. There are so many times they just looked so incredibly connected on the defensive end. Rotating, handing off guys on switches, just all. It was like cycling. It was like a tornado of defense from the spurs. And of course not getting exposed on the back end after their scrambling. That was just amazing and obviously won them the game in the third quarter.
Tas Melas
Yeah. And outside of Shea who couldn't find his flow, nobody else did a thing out there. Jared McCain also looked rushed in every single one of his moves. And he was kind of caught as when Wemby went to the floor. Am I going to the rim or do I pull up? And he was caught in between. He was letting it go sort of as. As these floaters weren't good. Super rushed, nobody did a thing. Also, Jalen Williams and his return in J Dub, not looking good. If you're the Thunder, you say, whoa. Do you see what happened with Dylan harper from Game 5 to Game 6? Looked bad in Game 5, returning from his injury. Game 6, he looked spectacular. He was in such a flow. So it's a different injury. It's a hamstring that he's going through. They have that hope, I assume going into his second game, but he's going to play.
Trey Kirby
You think he'll still play in game seven?
JD (Super Producer)
As it.
Trey Kirby
As in assuming he's as healthy as he was last night. Do you think the Thunder should play him?
Jay Skeets
If he's the exact same as he looked and moved around on the court last night, he should not play.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
He did nothing he could.
Trey Kirby
He didn't do nothing. He was bad. He was hurting the team.
Jay Skeets
One point obviously off a free throw and a couple turnovers and just otherwise he only played 10 minutes. But you can't inspire a lot of confidence. No.
Trey Kirby
If he plays like that in a game seven, that's. You can't have that.
Jay Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Even 10 minutes.
Tas Melas
No. No. His 10 minutes versus Carter Bryant's eight minutes off the bench. Carter Bryant destroyed him and had a great body check of Shay in the. Or in the. In the middle of the key when a shot went up for a rebound. Here comes Carter Bryant Beining knowing who's he's going to take out and took out Shay. Gil Alexander. That was nice. I think Mark DA has no problem pulling Jaylen Williams if he is banged up. If he is still hurt. So yeah, that. Yeah, that's a concern. Again, who helped him? Jeremy Kane out of flow. Jaylen Williams not looking good. I thought Chad Holren did some good things, but he also was slowed down. He slowed himself down. There was opportunities there just to let it rip and he needs to shoot more like he.
Jay Skeets
As simple as that. Shoot it.
Trey Kirby
He needs to get it. Jesus.
Jay Skeets
He's a good shooter.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. He just.
Jay Skeets
The weirdest thing.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
Frustrating.
Tas Melas
So literally just not letting it go. You know. Casey Wallace was fine.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Well, I think you might see a lot more case in Wallace. I mean Lou Dort might get a quick yank as well. He's been brutal and he was. He was at least shooting last night. Of course it was not dropping and he's been pretty cold here for a while now. So I think Casen Wallace could get more minutes there.
Tas Melas
It was worth weird with Luke because he hit his first one. Yeah, he hit his first three from the corner and I don't know why he took that bomb from up top. That's not. And not a Lou like shot from 27ft. You know, the shot clock was ticking down but it wasn't that. There's no need for that. So that he misses his next eight threes after his making his first one from the corner. So an ugly game. It's literally difficult to point out. Yeah. Casen Wallace good on both ends and good at something. You don't really consider with Casen Wells, his drives and his finishes. That's not really, you know, what we know of him, but yeah, yeah. Overall, just terrible. And that the spurs, yes. Getting back to the third quarter, they were. They were the thunder mirror in the way. They were just flying. Whether or not Stefan Castle's doing a good job on Shea's shoulder and just being right there and being in his head when Shay let that ball go to every single connection, man, they're a string out there.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Castle, let's talk about him because obviously the big role on slowing sga, damn near stopping him, but efficient from the field in this one too. He's also damn near completely fixed the turnover issue which plagued him here early in this series. He turned the ball over 20 times through the first two games, but he's committed six, total of six across the last four games. Big part of that, having Fox back.
Trey Kirby
Huge part.
Jay Skeets
Just a ball out of his hands now. Fox couldn't hit a shot to save his life last night. I thought he looked like Fox when he started the game. I thought he had a nice bounce to him. I'm like, oh, okay, there it is. Just the shots are like, everything is rimming out for him. And this was a rough one shooting wise. But Castle was a huge, huge part of the defensive run. The scoring there in the third quarter to push this to a, to a weekend game seven. And just his play moving off the ball a little bit more and just being able to lock in defensively. He's been awesome. Along with Harper, as you talked about.
Trey Kirby
Yes, I mean, Harper. Harper to me was the difference maker of last night for the Spurs. He just looked springy. He looked like he was seeking out contact. He was helping on the glass like he did when he was healthy at the beginning of this series. So for me going to game seven, I'm like, I expect a similar performance from you now that we've seen you're at least healthy enough to do it. Fox just doesn't seem to have any sort of touch right now, but that's fine because he's doing a Good job facilitating seven assists, zero turnovers last night. In four games this series, he has five total turnovers. That's amazing. 26 assists to five turnovers. And a huge problem was Castle turning the ball over. Fox comes back, it's a little bit less on Castle's plate and now he's not turning the ball over. He's also seeing easily, more easily attacked defender as well. Fox will bend the defense in a screen and roll with Wemby and then that just gives Castle a better chance to attack. So him kind of slotting into the 1.5 ball handler has been perfect for this team. But you just have to imagine the Thunder are thinking we're going to get similar performances when we go back home. Like, Caruso was muted last night. He's been awesome in every Spur Thunder win so far. SGA has to be due for a game. Chet played good in game five back in. Okay. OKC as well. So, I mean, this still feels like a toss up going into game seven, but weird. It's just weird. That's like blow up one way, blow out the other way. Good responses from both teams for sure, but it leaves you kind of questioning what's going to actually go down in game seven. Any result would be legitimately expected.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
If anybody tells you to your face like, this is what is going to happen in game seven, come on. You have no clue, man. Now I'm confident there won't be a seven and a half minute stretch probably where OKC can't score. Like that third quarter where, yeah, the spurs were stopping them, but they just could not buy a bucket. I mean, just like even what that was during the run where Hartenstein had like a dunk, an alley oop, like pop out. So that probably won't happen, but who knows? And like, yeah. What is the thing you're looking at most tasks in game seven? Like, is it all the role player talk or does it just come down to like Wemby and sga? Like throughout this series when SGA scores as much or scores more than Wemby, Thunder win. When the opposite happens and Wemby's the main guy, the spurs win, is it sort of. Is it maybe possibly as simple as the superstars here in a game seven?
Tas Melas
I don't think so. I think it comes down to Crusoe is huge on that strong side. When Shay gets going downhill a little bit, he comes and sneaks out into that corner. Three from the strong side and he's ready to bang him down. And so I, I think that game is going to be really, really key. As soon as Caruso hits a shot or two or three, it helps out Shea. So that balance.
Jay Skeets
Caruso is going to play a lot, I would assume in game seven.
Tas Melas
This is game seven. Yeah. There's no doubt in. In this game. Yeah, they needed a. In anything. Jared McCain not in. In that flow. Jalen Williams not looking like himself. AJ Mitchell isn't playing basketball right now. He's injured. Likely going to be out for game seven, I imagine. So they needed one of those guys. It needs to be Caruso in this one. It could be a chat, it could be a J Will and Jalen Williams who couldn't hit a three in this one. Jared McCain was way better at home. So yeah, it's a question mark. It is truly a flip of the coin because the spurs could have another great performance. Darren Fox could find his flow even though he's got, he's got like Tyus Jones, Jose Calderon assist, a turnover ratio, numbers there that you throw out 26 to 5. It's. That's amazing. But he had a huge dud here and they come come through because even champagne has found his float with the three point shot demisel. I thought, oh God, that guy has
Jay Skeets
been every game we fall more and more in love with this guy. Yeah, blocks chat somehow didn't get attack for like pushing him and barking at him. It's like they were like they literally lit let it go last night. They're like, all right, that's usually a Tech. I mean playoffs are not.
Tas Melas
But Devin Vassell's stats are really impressive. He's had an incredible series. He's their best three point shooter, 42.6%. He's hit the most threes for them by far with 20. He's third in points, first in steals, tied for second in blocks for this team. He's yapping with just been great. So, so good. He's been really, really good. Okay, they're getting better. They're getting better at the scare part. Dylan Harper getting better. Fox might find a flow. Yeah, they're, they're peeking at the right point here. While the Thunder, AJ Mitchell I mentioned as well as Jalen Williams, the, the original Jalen Williams, I guess you call him that.
Trey Kirby
He was drafted first.
Jay Skeets
Original.
Tas Melas
Good call. Jared McCain hasn't played in a Game 7. There's those little teeny tiny factors, but Caruso I think is the key for them. Just that little tick, that little tick that Shane needs.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, I mean yes, you can't do it alone but to me this is game seven sga. His has to be a monster game from him because of all the great work the spurs have done. But he can obviously still explode for a 30, 35, 40 point game. He's been good in game sevens before. That wouldn't be new but he's averaging like 24 and 8 here or 24 and 9 and he's shooting under 40% from the field, 26% from 3. You know, I wonder will even take some more threes there potentially in, in game seven. We'll see because like trying to get by these guys, especially if the whistle is hit. Hey, let the contact happen. And there's not a parade to the free throw line. Like what three free throw attempts for SGA last night. There were a couple instances where it was sort of end of the quarter, end of shot clocks and he's like, you know, barrel into the rim. He sometimes will get those calls and they just swallowed the whistle. They're like, nope, he fell to the ground.
Tas Melas
Too much talk about flops, say the referees. That's what it felt like. No more of these whistles. He could have got one. When he was run over by Carter Bryant in the lane. He also, he also could have flopped. I thought it was early in this game, Luke Cornet took him basically from the three point line into the paint. He could have flopped and got a call that was, I think if you're ever going to flop, that was a good time because Denver Sol then had a wide open three because she was literally dragged the entire paint. But yeah, three free throws. Was it the goal of the referees to stop calling whistles for him yesterday?
Jay Skeets
Well, this is a good officiating crew. I mean Zach Zarba is, I do think, a good official. And then we had Gucci ref, ZZ Tob, Tyler Ford. This was a good team, good crew. Was this the same crew from game one did Zarbo was here to maintain.
Trey Kirby
Let me give you a quick game,
Jay Skeets
one quick click here. I feel like that might be true,
Trey Kirby
but it was obviously Zarbo was there for game.
Jay Skeets
Okay. He was a part of it anyway. This is not Tanya Brothers in control of the, of the team here. No, but we say this because it might have an impact on game seven. How the game is going to be officiated, of course can be a positive or a negative to one of the teams of how they play. So we'll see here. But this was at least aesthetically a lot more enjoying for a viewer to watch. I think if you don't have a dog in this race and you don't really care who moves on. I thought it was a well officiated game for the most part.
Trey Kirby
Ain't no complaints about the officiating last night, but it was also a 30 point blowout. So less to worry about when the score isn't that close.
Jay Skeets
That's a good point. OKC is 6 and 1 at home during the 26 playoffs. They went 11 and 2 at home during last year's title run. Their only loss this year, double overtime at home. Of course to Wemby and the spurs in Game one. And then their losses last year at home were like last second shots. So they're really good at okc. And as our guy Ben Gulliver put it, getting the chance to host game seven at the Paycom center is why Oklahoma City never let its foot off the gas during the regular season. So they do have that going for them, though. What the numbers have started to tilt a little bit to road teams can go and win Game Sevens on the road. It used to be it was like almost like if you had game seven at home, you were winning. Like, whatever it was, it felt very high, like 85%. But I think it's come back to earth a little bit. Cavs just did it, so who knows? Cavs just did it. Sixers just did it.
Trey Kirby
So twice already this playoffs.
Jay Skeets
We'll see. Again, it does feel like a bit of a coin flip here. Can't wait to see what type of Wemby we get. I mean.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, like, it would be awesome to have a good game from Wemby and Shay in the same game.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
And then we figure out, like, who's the Random Game 7 Hero. Like, it was Grant Williams once upon a time. Is it Jalen Williams? Big Jalen Williams, the second Jaylen Williams? Maybe it will be. Maybe it'll be. Luke Cornett has 14 points, goes nuts in a third quarter. I don't know. But this is a tight series and I hope we actually, like, get good performances. Game Sevens can be pretty ugly in a lot of this. I don't actually know who that would favor. If they send Scott Foster out there, they say try and extend this one. We would like to get to an eighth game. We're letting all fouls go.
Tas Melas
Home team. I guess we're letting all fouls go. Yeah, just like, just, you know, we're
Trey Kirby
not calling a lot. I don't know. I don't know who that.
Jay Skeets
On one hand, that favors. That does favor the spurs with how they play.
Trey Kirby
I mean, both teams hack all the time, if we're being quite honest.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah. Carter Bryant took on the role of Lou Dort essentially when he came in. Body check Shay in. In the paint. They resemble each other.
Jay Skeets
It's funny. It's not the fouls that are like hacking a guy shooting or a guy attacking the rim, and it's a shooting foul. It's all those other ones. It's all of the moving picks and the bumps here and there and the grabs and the clutches that officials see and decide whether or not to call that accumulate that add up to get to bonuses slows the game down. And that's how in game five you get like SGA shooting what, 17 free throw attempts. Right. So like it's. It's sort of to me like whatever the officiating crew is deciding with all that extra stuff, how physical are you allowing all of this off ball stuff when maybe it's not an actual shot
Tas Melas
attempt, but so they gotta, they gotta have a Zack Zara crew out there.
Jay Skeets
I Zack backto back Zachs. I mean, I love it. I think he's good. He actually is good. He's always fixing his hair before he gets on camera. That's my only complaint with him.
Tas Melas
What was the other well officiated game in this series? Game one, right?
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Game one was.
Tas Melas
That was a Zara.
Trey Kirby
That was a Zara.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Hey, look, he's the common.
Tas Melas
That was a Zara. Mitchell Irvin, John Goble and Ed Malloy as the alternate.
Jay Skeets
Oh, that was the game where we thought alternate Ed. Right.
Tas Melas
And in game six, it was Zarba. Tyler Ford and James Williams don't even list the alternate. Weird.
Jay Skeets
They don't need it when Zarba's there. Baby, we don't need an alternate. When do we find out? We must find out.
Trey Kirby
Probably tomorrow morning or something. All right, game two was Tony, Carl, Ed and Josh. If they follow up after Zach Zarba again.
Jay Skeets
So what does that mean, we're going to get like a Mark Davis?
Trey Kirby
No, I'm just. I'm just saying that game one was a Zarba crew followed by followed by a Tony.
Jay Skeets
My Tony head. No, we don't want Tony. I wouldn't. Yeah, I don't want a Tony. I don't want to stop, but I don't want to tone the league.
Trey Kirby
No Tony, no Scott.
Jay Skeets
Give me anyone else. Maybe, maybe Ed Malloy will be one of the head guys after being an alternate there. He said. What are we talking about? Whoever it is, I hope we don't talk about them at all in game seven.
Trey Kirby
It feels like a big lineup to session. That was on the lake.
Jay Skeets
It's a huge decision.
Trey Kirby
Make some adjustments.
Tas Melas
Oh, it's an easy one. This easy Top. Get Zach Zarbo.
Trey Kirby
Make him do it.
Tas Melas
He might be tired this morning.
Jay Skeets
I don't know if he's got it.
JD (Super Producer)
I don't know.
Tas Melas
I mean, there was garbage time in the fourth quarter eating that.
Jay Skeets
He should have just sat down. That's when they should use the alternate.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Hey, what do you call it when Zach refs A game. That's a blowout.
Jay Skeets
Give me a chance.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, I know, I know, I know, I know.
Jay Skeets

Support from this show comes from Quince. I'm way overdue for a wardrobe refresh. I'm a podcast host. That is very important. I drive a Chevy Trax. I'm a man. I'm 45. Clothes shopping in person is simply not a priority for me. So I usually wear the same stuff till my wife calls me out. For these reasons, I'm pumped to say that Quince has been my new go to. I asked Nora to help me pick out a couple of items and it turns out she already had a cart ready of things she was planning on getting me from Quints. So I picked up two of the 100% European linen shirts. One striped, one solid. The material feels light and breathable and the stitching looks really well done. They're the perfect type of pieces that feel easy and comfortable but still look put together. And the best part is I didn't break the bank. In fact, everything I purchased was priced 50 to 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Why? Because Quint's works directly with the ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen. today, I had a coffee and I wasn't happy with it. I couldn't even get through the cup. I bought a bad bean and I always buy good beans. That's when I turned to an alternative option, an Ultra Pouch. What's that an Ultra pouch is a pouch with zero caffeine and zero nicotine plant powered pouches designed to sharpen your mind and lift your energy. What exactly is in Ultra pouches, you might ask? Well, Infinity px, a cleaner, smoother energy boost than caffeine. The primary metabolic byproduct of caffeine. L Theanine, an amino acid alpha GPC, a nootropic for enhanced mental processing and vitamin B6 and B12. That's it. Just put it in your mouth, let it dissolve. Clinically proven elements that provide immediate focus and smooth energy that lasts one to two hours. I definitely like it as an afternoon option instead of coffee. You know, having to worry about caffeine in you all night. No caffeine spikes here. I'll keep them in my gym bag for that extra push needed before a workout. Give me some of that icy and fresh wintergreen flavor. Ultra is the ultimate guilt free pouch delivering instant focus and mental clarity without nicotine or caffeine. Jay Skeets
Anything else from the actual game 6. The X's and O's the Schemes before we get to our silly random notes I never know or game seven I
Trey Kirby
never know if this counts as X's and O's or silly random notes. Wemby and Shay matched up for that one possession in the third quarter where Shay hits the baseline. Fade away.
Jay Skeets
That's a basketball note, baby.
Trey Kirby
Okay, good.
Jay Skeets
I liked that. That was awesome.
Trey Kirby
I thought that was cool. I was hyped. That felt like all star game LeBron versus Kobe Drake clapping. But that was me. I was Drake last night. That was cool. I also liked J Dub. His win one assist was to J Will.
Jay Skeets
That was nice. I like that. Yeah. Yeah. And Torico really liked that.
Trey Kirby
Oh yeah, he did.
Jay Skeets
You said the SGA where he did hit the dirty shot on Wemby. That was early. Third quarter is that correct.
Trey Kirby
It might have been their last basket before the run.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, okay. That's what I mean. Before Wemby checked out.
JD (Super Producer)
Right.
Jay Skeets
And then they went on a massive run again. This was like. It turned into a blow up, but holy crap. Like, the first half was. It was fantastic. I thought, because again, spurs were giving them everything, trying to stay alive and Thunder were staying attached. It was still a very close game at the half.
Tas Melas
I was slow in that third quarter.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, I mean, that was that day. Just cranked up the D and yeah, OKC could not score.
Trey Kirby
That was enjoyable to watch. Defense, though. Sometimes I feel like when a team goes on a 220 run, it's like good defense, but also the team on offense is like missing wide open shots or something like that. This, to me, was the spurs completely locked in. If they got beat, somebody was there to help. And then somebody was there to help the helper. They were so good.
Jay Skeets
Trey. We were doing the watch party on YouTube. We mentioned a very solid play on defense. I'm not sure it's ever been done with the two thumbs up. We were like, look at this defensive possession. Is these one one of those ones where they're handing off guys and just swallowing them? No one was open. There was no shot to take.
Tas Melas
Is that the one NBC did a replay of potentially a Castle Steel.
Trey Kirby
They might have done a replay of that.
Tas Melas
NBC doing some nice work. Nice work. We talked about how good they were on Thursday's show. That was nice. Nice replay. Nice replay. Breakdown. A breakdown of defense.
Jay Skeets
Do you have anything else or do you want to get to random notes?
Trey Kirby
I think this is my last X and O. I think this qualifies as an X and O. Chat blocked Wendy at the end of the third quarter. Skeets is like, well, at least Chat has that. And then when we blocked check.
Tas Melas
Oh, that was. That was awesome. Back to back possession. Defensive player of the year. Runner up of the defensive player of the year. That was.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Stuffing each other. Back to back possessions there. End of the third quarter. Right.
Trey Kirby
Now that we're into game seven, I know how to format my notes.
Jay Skeets
Hey, you're good, man. You're good. Okay, let's get into some random notes.
Tas Melas
Random.
Jay Skeets
All right. This had the people talking last night heading into game six. Wemby arrived at Frostbank center last night wearing a unique dark green robe, long robe with gray pants, pair of slides. And he was asked about the outfit after the game. And Wemby said that the robe he wore wasn't because of the monks. That's what a lot of people were saying. But to celebrate, eat a lot of the Islamic holiday. So he did confirm that he also had the fresh new haircut to match. So, yeah, you saw that coming through the tunnel. He was locked in. He had the book in his hand, too, of course. And then he comes out and sets the tone in game six.
Tas Melas
What book did he have in his?
Jay Skeets
I don't know. He had a book, didn't he?
Tas Melas
Quran?
Jay Skeets
No, I don't think so. I don't know for sure. But he had a book in his hand.
Trey Kirby
The Alchemist.
Jay Skeets
Exactly. Betty likes it, but unbelievable. Just intensity from this guy.
Tas Melas
He's ready.
Jay Skeets
It even. It continued post game.
Tas Melas
There's no doubt he knew what he was doing post game from the minute he walked into that arena. I'll just do a quick two questions. I won't really think about the answers. He didn't really ponder everything. Everything came to his.
Jay Skeets
It was an I'm here so I don't get fined type of response.
Tas Melas
Definitely got that feel.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yeah. I thought it was the monk thing, too. I didn't know it was.
Jay Skeets
That's what people thought at first, but
Tas Melas
Muller or Muslim Prince, that's boom. Came through.
Trey Kirby
They asked Dylan Harper about it afterwards. He's like. When he showed up in that outfit, I think everybody knew it was going to happen. That's aura. It's literally.
Jay Skeets
We wear it again.
Tas Melas
What will you wear in games Saturday night?
Trey Kirby
What will he wear? Yeah, that's important. Halloween costume.
Jay Skeets
Oh, man.
Trey Kirby
Drawn by surprise.
Jay Skeets
Showing up as Slenderman. If he goes full Slender Man. Wow. Holy. All right, the nuns were back.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, baby.
Jay Skeets
For game six. In much worse seats, though.
Trey Kirby
Much worse.
Jay Skeets
They were. I think they were like. I don't know, is that bottom, lower bowl or is that upper bowl?
Tas Melas
I'm not sure, but those are kind of. Are they sweet seats? I guess I didn't think so because the row right behind them. Those look like sweet seats. Maybe.
Trey Kirby
Why do you say that behind them?
Tas Melas
Yeah. Well, they look bigger on the left. That looks like a big.
Jay Skeets
Anyway, I don't think that guy wearing that cowboy hat is getting into a suite. So I think this is just. Yeah.
Tas Melas
On the bottom. Yeah. Yeah. Probably not.
Jay Skeets
I'm just saying they were like, basically courtside for game four.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Tas Melas
It was funny that. It was Crawford. Reggie. I think Crawford said, the nuns aren't here. And then immediately in the truck, they're saying, hey, we got to get to the nuns. Get the shot of the nuns. And they got to them pretty quickly.
Jay Skeets
And we started Seeing them more and more as the game went on. Luke Cornett definitely did something during that third quarter run. Probably. Well, he had a big dunk to Elliot. We saw the nuns right away. Right away. Anytime something happens with Luke Cornett, we got to go to the nets because he has been blessed by them. Can you go back to it, though, J.D. because I meant to point this out. One of the nuns is holding a puppet nun on the far right. What's going on there? She, like, dabbling in ventriloquism, like. Or something like, wow, I wonder what that is. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Like a Cabbage Patch Nun.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Interesting.
Trey Kirby
I saw a video of the nuns shooting around on a hoop outside.
Jay Skeets
Okay, T.K. i saw it, too. And I'm like, is this AI? I don't know anymore. Exactly.
Trey Kirby
Fair question.
Jay Skeets
I don't think it is.
Trey Kirby
I don't either.
Jay Skeets
And if it isn't, that one nun's got game.
Trey Kirby
Okay. I thought the smallest nun, she went second from the left here.
Jay Skeets
Great handles.
Trey Kirby
I was impressed with the way she was handling the ball. Tallest nun, wimpy jersey. Hit like a 30 footer and then said, we're going to win. That was pretty impressive.
Jay Skeets
Again, nuns. Is it real?
Trey Kirby
Are these nuns Hoopers? These nuns look like Hoopers to me.
Jay Skeets
I think it's real. And you're right. They. Two of them in particular, could play. You can just tell. You can tell if someone can play basketball just the way they hold a basketball. I've said this before. The way they dribble it, you just can tell. They got it. They got it.
Tas Melas
Was it the ventriloquist who said, no, no, no, no.
Jay Skeets
She. She wasn't in the.
Tas Melas
Because later on, she did pull up the puppet. We don't have the screen grab, but our. Our friend Vinnie emailed it in. A screen grab when it was 10270. With hand. Hand in the ventriloquist mouth wide open. Like she was talking through the ven. Through the puppet. Very good.
Trey Kirby
They got to go to game seven. Like, the spurs need to pull out all kinds of these nuns to game seven. We got to protect the nuns.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. I mean, could they even have a little small jackal section, I wonder. But that's close. Maybe. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Like San Antonio, Oklahoma City. Not far.
Jay Skeets
No, not really.
Tas Melas
Okay, so you ain't allowing that.
Jay Skeets
No, no. Nor should.
Trey Kirby
But.
Tas Melas
But the spurs get.
Jay Skeets
The spurs get tickets, like, for family. Don't you get, like, some allocated tickets? Well, you can put it. Your family tickets, you can, you know, put to the nuns. Yeah, the nuns definitely got to be there. Alien dude, he was back at game six, Remember we saw him in game four, y', all green face paint. Well, I don't know if he ran out of the green face paint or what, but he switched it up and went with a different alien type of look. Still alien with the. The nose and the, and the glasses and all that. But, uh, yeah, the white face paint.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, one at one point on no buffs, Nora explained all the different aliens to us. I remember there being a green man version and a gray slash silver man.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, you're right.
Trey Kirby
I guess he's just covering all his bases.
Jay Skeets
I should have asked her.
Trey Kirby
I still don't like that nose. That's his go to alien nose and I hate it. Human's nostrils aren't like, that's a good paint job.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. So obviously they're in the Jackal. He's got the cool chain on. So nice to see him back. Also back. We don't have the screen grab you pervs. But the two well endowed women were back behind Mitch Johnson.
Tas Melas
They were there.
Jay Skeets
They weren't there at the beginning of the game. And don't you worry, people in our stream team had noticed. But then of course they showed up. I wanted to bring this up though, because I'm pretty sure NBC producers or higher ups or whoever has said, okay, when we go to Mitch Johnson, you gotta go closer in. You gotta take the ladies out behind him. There's too much chatter going on. As the game went on, the shot got tighter and tighter on Mitch Johnson. It was like extreme close up of Mitch Johnson. And I think it's so you can't see. I think there had been at least one of them, maybe an only fan model or something like that to take them out of the shot. That's my working theory. So he's saying tighter on Mitch.
Trey Kirby
We got a TV PG rating.
Jay Skeets
Exactly, exactly. You know, but they were in their bright colors and they're there again. They were there, what, three games, right? All three games in San Antonio.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. Very supportive.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Anyway, made me laugh a couple clips here. You know, rough game for J Dub, as we said. Like he gutted it out. He came off the bench for the first time since like what, 2022, I think they said. Never had done it in the playoffs. Anyway, they had this clip of him, sort of a package of him warming up, but then within the package, him running in to Isaiah Hartenstein in the tunnel or around the curtains here. Excuse me.
Trey Kirby
They should have known he was rusty right then.
Jay Skeets
That's what I Thought, you know, like, oh, that's what I thought.
Tas Melas
That was when they walked out post game on that. In that same. That same carpet there. Sam Presti was there to give him fist bumps. I don't usually see Sam Presti doing the fist bumps. They're locked in for game seven. They're ready.
Jay Skeets
Alex Caruso got a golfing package because we had a golf read from Tirico. So we're like, hey, this guy's a golfer. Let's show his footage here. Yeah, there he goes off the tee. Is that a hole in one?
Tas Melas
No, that wasn't a tee. That wasn't a tee.
Trey Kirby
That looked like it went right in the bunker. Why would they show that? Yeah, he's got a golfer look to him.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, apparently he's quite good. They said, right? Toriko said the best golfer in the building or something. That's what he said.
Tas Melas
In the building.
Trey Kirby
Okay.
Jay Skeets
Sure.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Maybe on the floor. Yeah. Anyway, I guess he's good. And then he said he just talked to Crusoe. All Crusoe wanted to talk about was golf. Trico's trying to ask him about the Western Conference finals. He's like, ah, no. What type of clubs are you using, man?
Tas Melas
Also in the building manager nobly. And this made me think of when Nikola Topic took the floor for the OKC Thunder. Both men have had testicular surgery. Two men who've had testicular surgery in the same arena during an NBA game. Not sure it's been done before other than games three and four.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, but. But Topic made it on.
Tas Melas
He did make it on the floor. The other guy was batting bats. He wasn't batting bats, but, you know.
Jay Skeets
Anything else?
Trey Kirby
There was a clip. They found an alternate angle of Wemby talking to Mason Plumlee.
Jay Skeets
They did?
Tas Melas
Oh, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Hard files. That's what he says.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
And they went out and hard filed.
Jay Skeets
They absolutely did.
Trey Kirby
They're like, literally called in a hit. Yeah, they got it on camera. I bet I'll get fined for this. Just kidding. Getting fined. That's hilarious.
Tas Melas
But they made it a flagrant foul.
Jay Skeets
They did. They did upgrade it to a flagrant.
Trey Kirby
So he gets fined, he gets fine.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, wouldn't be better pay for that.
Tas Melas
Deflate. Hold on. A fine for a flag.
Trey Kirby
Assume it's associated.
Jay Skeets
I sort of think it might be, but I don't know. No, no. Okay. Yeah, yeah, but he did that upgraded. People were joking that SGA was going to start game six with a free throw. Did you see that?
Tas Melas
Only three.
Jay Skeets
Only three. I know. Game seven. I got Some trivia for you guys. I just saw this by way of Zach Harper, our guy. Top 5 scoring game sevens by a player are want to take a crack at it. Jason Tatum, 51 in 2023. Stick with that. Year. That's your second hint. Stick with that.
Trey Kirby
2023.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tas Melas
It's a nugget, right? No, no, no.
Trey Kirby
Jimmy Nuggets.
Tas Melas
No, no Nuggets. Not a Jimmy.
Trey Kirby
2023. Who else would have been in the playoffs doing good back then?
Tas Melas
You know Wolf? No, no.
Jay Skeets
Steph Curry.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, he had a 50 burger against Sacramento.
Jay Skeets
That is correct. I'll give you the other ones on this one. Kevin Durant had 48 in 2021. Sam Jones with 47 back in 1963. Yeah, that's a hell of a lot of points in 1963. Sam Jones. Dominique Wilkins scored 47 in 1988 in game seven. Rebounds in a game seven. Who had the most ever? Don't overthink it. 40. That's right. This is fun. Game seven assist record 20. Who has it?
Trey Kirby
An applesauce rondo.
Jay Skeets
No.
Tas Melas
20 assists.
Jay Skeets
You gotta go back to. It's probably happened in the 80s or 90s.
Tas Melas
Chris Doohan. Just kidding.
Trey Kirby
Johnny.
Jay Skeets
Johnny Stockton.
Trey Kirby
Johnny Stockton.
Jay Skeets
Now record for game seven blocks is seven. Hey, could it be broken in game seven from Wembley? Yeah, maybe they don't want to shoot around them wisely. So maybe not. But can you name any of the three guys that had seven blocks in a game seven?
Trey Kirby
Bill Russell. No, I didn't count blocks for the.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. So 77 onwards. I guess when they started counting it.
Tas Melas
Dikembe.
Jay Skeets
Dikembe is the one I thought you would get 2001. He had a game 77 block box score. Elvin Hayes in 79, Caldwell Jones in 77.
Trey Kirby
Caldwell Jones was on the tip of my tongue.
Tas Melas
I couldn't get it out.
Jay Skeets
Three pointers made in a game seven Pretty recent. The two guys. Williams. Nope. Okay. These two guys hit nine.
Trey Kirby
Tatum.
Tas Melas
No.
JD (Super Producer)
Clay.
Tas Melas
Clay.
Jay Skeets
Oh, no. Wow. Yeah. But there's a Warrior player.
Tas Melas
Yeah, Warrior player.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Jordan Poole.
Jay Skeets
I think he did it for the warriors. Kd? No, he's got. He has three nicknames.
Trey Kirby
Buddy.
Jay Skeets
Buddy. Heels.
Trey Kirby
Buddy Heel.
Jay Skeets
Did he do that for a lot of buckets? Yeah. Didn't he hit a. Well, he hit nine threes. Was it for the Warriors?
Trey Kirby
He didn't because he only played last
Jay Skeets
year in the playoffs. He had an insane game with him.
Trey Kirby
Buddy.
Jay Skeets
Dante DiVincenzo also hit nine. Okay, and then. And we'll hope this is not a talking point. From game seven. But who holds the free throw attempt record in a game seven?
Trey Kirby
Kobe.
Tas Melas
No.
Jay Skeets
This is tough.
Tas Melas
That's what I would have guessed.
Jay Skeets
It's a Spurs player. Spurs legend.
Trey Kirby
George Gervin.
Jay Skeets
No.
Tas Melas
David Robinson? No. Timothy.
Jay Skeets
Timothy Duncan. 23 attempts in a game seven.
Tas Melas
Against who? I don't know.
Jay Skeets
I couldn't tell you. Anyway, keep your eye on that one.
Tas Melas
For that.
Jay Skeets
Keep your eye on that one. So what's most likely to be broken on Saturday night? Hey, maybe. Maybe points.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
You know, Wemby or sga. Performance of a lifetime. Hopefully not free throw attempts. And maybe blocks. Maybe blocks there. From Wendy. Thanks for playing.
Trey Kirby
You're welcome.
Jay Skeets
Let's take a break and when we come back, we've got some news regarding the Knicks and we'll talk about the NBA draft lottery reform. Don't go anywhere.
Tas Melas
This show is brought to you by FanDuel. The line for game seven. OKC, favored by three and a half at home. At first I thought it's got to be this first. They're gonna keep it super close, but it's. It's a good line. The Thunder Wind, they're probably gonna do it by four or more, right?
Jay Skeets
Hasn't it been three and a half like every game here? Like bouncing back and forth? I swear it has been a lot of similar lines. That type of line. Oh, and then they're just blowouts.
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah.
Tas Melas
When has it been covered? Wasn't even covered. Well, the spurs covered it on the road in OKC for game one. Overtime covers. Nobody wants those.
Jay Skeets
You hate them.
Tas Melas
I don't know who to bet for, though. This is your reminder to check in daily to talk with friends on FanDuel about who is going to win during a fun time. Because a fun time is happy hour. Every day during the playoffs, FanDuel serves one up. We're talking special drops from profit boost to bonus bets and more during that happy hour. Whether you're betting in the early game or gearing up for prime time, make sure you open the FanDuel app and see what's waiting for you today. That happy hour happens only once a day and it's longer than an hour from what I see, like 4 to 6 Eastern, approximately. Check for a new reward every single day of the NBA playoffs on FanDuel, official partner of the NBA.
Jay Skeets
All right, if you are just joining us, where were you at 1003 or 1004 when we went live? But thanks for joining us. Late hit. Hit the like button. Subscribe, podcast listeners. You've been here the whole time we love you. Five star ratings and reviews. This is some unfortunate news for Knicks fans. New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson has a broken right pinky finger. And there is no timetable for his return. No, no, there is.
Tas Melas
He's playing game one.
Jay Skeets
Okay, then. That's new.
Tas Melas
Seam sent the tweets.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
Jay Skeets
When did he do that?
Tas Melas
9:15am this morning or earlier? I don't know. Somewhere around there.
Jay Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melas
He is playing in game one. This is the stuff of NBA Finals lore. He is playing with a brace on that hand because he had surgery on that pinky. He's undergone surgery according to Sham Sharanya.
Jay Skeets
Okay.
Tas Melas
And he's playing with the brace ready to go in game one.
Jay Skeets
Okay. How did he suffer this injury?
Tas Melas
I don't know.
Trey Kirby
Pinkies break pretty easily. Oh, bad high five. Hit it on the backboard, hit it on the rim. Like get caught in a jersey at practice? Like a broken pinky. Happens all the time.
Jay Skeets
I just want to know if he did it in a game or he got his pinky stuck in his monster truck door. Too big. Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, that would hurt. But if there's any guy in the the NBA that I think can play with a brace on his shooting hand, it is Mitchell Robinson. I don't think it's going to change his game at all.
Tas Melas
Oh, maybe he will go underhand on the free throws.
Jay Skeets
Now, I did think that with a
Tas Melas
big brace on that shooting hand, maybe that's his excuse to go underhand. Yeah. It doesn't. No report on where it happened. Okay, it does happen. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I. I think there's a potential here for some sort of basketball version of Rookie of the Year, the movie from 1993, where he breaks his pinky and he brings his pinky and he's suddenly a better free throw shooter.
Trey Kirby
See, that'd be good.
Jay Skeets
That would be fun. We can make a movie out of that.
Trey Kirby
Switch to his left hand. How about that? Yeah.
Jay Skeets
There you go. Okay. So he's playing.
Tas Melas
Yep.
Jay Skeets
He's important. So that's good.
Trey Kirby
He is. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Fully plans to play.
Jay Skeets
The Knicks, by the way, are going to be facing a playoff opponent coming off a game seven for the third straight series here. And like now, their last two have been sweeps, too, so that's pretty wild. I think that's a first. It's incredible when you think about it.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, I don't think they're going to sweep the finals, personally. Just getting out there. No getting it out there. But look, if I'm a Knicks fan, I'm thinking this is the year we better Win it. They're very healthy outside of Mitchell. Robinson breaking his pinky. OG's playing. Bridges is out there. Towns is out there. Brunson made it through the Eastern Conference pretty healthy. The Thunder already have won a championship. They might get a second one. Spurs are trying to win their first championship. These are young teams, but the Knicks are in their prime. It's almost now or never, it feels like to me, for New York. So we'll see if they're able to pull it off.
Jay Skeets
And we're going to have on Saturday night our fifth game seven of the postseason, which ties the record for most in a postseason in playoff history. Yeah, happened in 94, 2014 and 2016. Five series going to seven games sounds
Tas Melas
low because I thought that 2016 one
Jay Skeets
was it 1414 where they were all first round. All first round, yeah.
Tas Melas
That's why it sounded low.
Jay Skeets
Yep. So I bring that up. Maybe the NBA Finals gives us the record breaking sixth Game seven of the postseason.
Trey Kirby
I would love that.
Jay Skeets
We could only hope. We can only hope.
Trey Kirby
We traded wedgies for game sevens.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
We really trade, honestly.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Totally beyond. Beyond fair.
Jay Skeets
Especially because we set the record already in the regular season. Yeah. All right, let's get into this. Big news from yesterday. The NBA's board of governors approved draft lottery reform. On Thursday, the new rules were passed by a 29 to 1 vote with the Grizzlies as the lone dissenters. We'll explain why in a second. I think they had a fair reason to vote for no. But the proposal chosen was dubbed the three two one model and it includes the following changes. We've gone over some of this, but I think it's important for those trying to make sense of this new draft lottery. Okay. The lottery will feature 37 total lottery balls allocated to 16 teams. And we have a great graphic here by our friends from the Athletic to sort of like wrap your head around. It makes a little sense using records from this year. So the three worst teams in the league, they're going to get two ping pong balls. The next seven teams to miss the postseason each receive three. The number nine and number ten seeds in each conference receive two. And the losers of the seven eight plan game receive one. Couple other rules here. All spots in the lottery will be drawn as opposed to just the top four. So we are drafting for all 16 slots. But the three worst teams in the NBA can pick no lower than number 12. But it is insane this relegation zone where you get actually a fewer pung balls. You could have the worst record in the League and be picking 12th.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Is where we could be looking at here. Pretty insane. Teams can no longer pick number one in consecutive drafts starting with this draft. And teams cannot pick in the top five of three consecutive drafts backdated to the 2025 draft. Also, picks between number 12 and 15 cannot be protected in trades. That was a lot of information. A lot we already knew. Maybe some tweaks here and there, but they did vote for this. And we're gonna see this next year 2027 draft task and we're gonna watch it live.
Tas Melas
We've got to be watching.
Jay Skeets
Watching it live.
Tas Melas
Can you imagine the. The person, the presenter presenting those lottery balls? Somebody fun can do that. I know we. We talked about it yesterday with. With the. As I called it, the geekify it. To have everybody who knows these. You want an amount of lottery balls.
Jay Skeets
Windhorst.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
And maybe Kornacki and a Bobby Marsh.
Tas Melas
Yeah. The experience that's been in that lottery room. And also people who know the numbers. That was a part of it. But as. As you brought up the numbers, somebody cool who could present the amount of lottery balls within. Not a magician. Not a magician.
Jay Skeets
That's what you did do. You did a very magician.
Tas Melas
Like, that's. That's where my brain went. So it's my. My favorite magician, Valentino. You may not know who he is, but he taught me the. He taught me behind the scenes.
Jay Skeets
What?
Tas Melas
But you don't want him.
Jay Skeets
Hold on.
Tas Melas
What do you t. What do you
Jay Skeets
mean he taught you behind. You get magic tricks from Valentino?
Tas Melas
No, the Valentino was. The guy. Was the guy who shows you how these magician. How these tricks work on a documentary.
Jay Skeets
Banish him. What's he doing?
Tas Melas
Well, he had to do what he had to do to make some money back and don't have this guy whenever it was filmed. Either way. Are we looking at the Grizzlies thing is interesting why they're so angry. Because.
Trey Kirby
Valid reason to vote against it.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Explain it. Go ahead.
Tas Melas
Well, as you said, you can't have top five pick in three years in a row.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
So they had one last or this coming year. They had one this coming year in 26 draft. That's it.
Jay Skeets
Now the thing is, because it's the Utah Jazz pick, so the Grizzlies cannot have a top five pick next season with the pick they own from the Utah Jazz through the Jaren Jackson trade.
Tas Melas
So they can't have somebody else's pick.
Jay Skeets
Exactly. Because The Jazz drafted fifth in 2025. They're picking second this year in 2026.
Trey Kirby
So that's not bad.
Tas Melas
That's not the Grizzlies pick.
Jay Skeets
It's not. I didn't say it was.
JD (Super Producer)
I know, I know.
Tas Melas
That's what. That's what makes it.
Jay Skeets
But it makes the pick they traded for, so it makes it even worse.
Tas Melas
That's what makes it frustrating, though. It's not their pick.
Jay Skeets
I agree. They are. They are essentially getting punished for Utah's tanking with the new rules. That's an insane decision by the league here.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. John Hollingen talked to, I think, Evan Wash at the league office, who basically explained. They're like, we talked about all this.
Tas Melas
Right.
Trey Kirby
Specifically this Memphis pick. And basically, if they grandfather this pick and allow the Grizzlies to be able to draft high based on where the Jazz end up, that pick becomes the most valuable pick in the entire pick landscape out there. So, like, that's unfair to every other team. Not to mention if we throw out this blah, blah, blah. There was a lot of rigamarole around it, but at least the way they explained it, you're like, that makes more sense than when you just realize that the Grizzlies traded away a franchise cornerstone for a top five pick and now they're not going to be able to use it. That seems brutal. But at least their explanation. I saw where they were coming from. I wouldn't be happy if I'm a Grizzly fan.
Tas Melas
No.
Jay Skeets
And guess what? This would not have been going through. I feel like if this was a. A marquee franchise with this situation. A Lakers, a Celtics. Come on. No way. This is because it's. The Grizzlies are like, shut up. Who cares? Whatever. Brutal. That's brutal to me.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
So weird. They didn't need to do that. I get their explanation. I'm with you, TK But I don't know with that one, I think they could have said, okay, they did trade for that when the rules were in place. Part of the Jaren Jackson trade. Who else are the big winners and losers from this, in your opinion?
Trey Kirby
Thunder and Spurs.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
They built dynasties, and now there's no way to build a dynasty. So they're looking good. Not to mention the stockpile of picks that they have going forward are all these teams that are gonna end up right in the middle, and that's the picks you want to have. You don't want to have the worst teams in the league picks. You want to have a pick from a team like the Bulls that always tries to win 40 games and somehow Looks into a lottery appearance. So I think this is great for both the Thunder and the Spurs. I mean, the spurs are sort of the reason they put in the. You can't draft top five three years in a row. So they got to draft three studs three years in a row, and now no team will be able to do that. This is great for the two teams that are the best in the league.
Jay Skeets
I would agree with that. Not only because of the picks they've accumulated, but also it's the picks the other teams will not get to accumulate because of the rules now in place. So that's good for teams like the spurs and Thunder that are good teams with a whole bunch of draft capital and are going to have a whole bunch of chances, obviously, to hit with these flattened odds or these different odds being sort of leveled out here because they got a whole lot of these other teams that are bad picks. So. My God.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I don't know. I think the worry here is the league was overreacting. That's what we're getting at with what happened here. And like, nine teams tanking this year because of this loaded draft class. And they were like, oh, boy, there's so much talk about it. Have they made just, like, new problems for themselves here? I mean, it's going to unfold how it unfolds, and obviously the lottery will play a part in it. But I don't know, man. It does seem to make it tougher for the league's worst teams to escape the bottom, too. It could. It could.
Trey Kirby
Definitely.
Jay Skeets
And it's like. And I don't. I know Silver's pushback on that and it's fair. Is like there are other ways to build teams than just through the draft. Well, yeah, but also you've made that more difficult.
Trey Kirby
Exactly. The team now.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
So.
Tas Melas
But you still can have the top five pick two years in a row. Like, you can still have good picks.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Yeah.
Tas Melas
They just changed the weight to make sure that people aren't losing as much in hopes. In hopes of losing more. That's the idea of. At the end of the year, it's game 75. We don't want to be one of these bottom three teams.
Trey Kirby
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Because his hope is going to be the teams that are currently, when this season unfolds next year that are in the bottom three, that they're going to be trying their asses off to win games when we get to February and March and April to get out of said bottom three.
Tas Melas
Because then you're.
Jay Skeets
That's. That's what he is thinking is going to work because.
Tas Melas
Yeah, 4th, 4th to 10th worst team still have an 8%.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
That's where you want to be.
Tas Melas
Yeah. So you still have a chance, but you just can't be bad forever. You can't. You can't pull the. The process as with the Sixers. You can't pull an OKC to be bad for a long period of time. They're trying to shorten that. Shorten that span.
Jay Skeets
What do you think this does for, like, trading draft picks? Does this make in your mind these picks more valuable or the opposite? I can't decide.
Trey Kirby
See, I think this. Another loser I had was podcasters because I think the trade deadline is going to be brutal. Now, think about a team like I'm thinking about the Bulls. They've made a million moves to get bad this year at the trade deadline. Right. They traded Vuch to the Celtics. They traded Kobe White to the Hornets. Desuma went to the Timberwolves. Herder went to the Pistons. If you're trying to stay in the middle, probably keep all those guys.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
You know, which means fewer and fewer trades because you want to hold onto your picks. Because now if you're in the middle, you got a better shot of jumping up. Yeah, I think it's going to ruin the trade deadline, actually.
Jay Skeets
Could be an issue.
Tas Melas
Yeah, a little bit. I mean, you still win games. These guys, these teams, like the. The Stinky Jazz, I mean, they're still winning games at the end of the season. They just. But they do want to have their best players on the floor.
Trey Kirby
Exactly. That's the thing, is that the NBA, when the eyes finally turn to the NBA, is when the super bowl is over. And that's when so many teams shut down and don't care to win. And that's why this has.
Jay Skeets
Because they're incentivized.
Trey Kirby
Exactly. But now they're incentivized less. Well, like, I think we'll have a. We won't have any teams under 20 wins next year. You know, I think we'll have fewer brutal teams, more mediocre teams.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Better fourth quarters. Better fourth quarters. Instead of guys. Instead of teams saying, huh, you guys sit for the fourth quarter. You know, Will Hardy pulled guys for the fourth quarter. The Memphis Grizzlies pulled guys for the fourth quarter again.
Jay Skeets
Again. Like, instead of doing all of these drastic changes, though, some people were like, well, yeah, look at the 27, 28 draft classes. For the most part, they are not ripe with franchise changing players. Again, we're not draft Experts and things change. I get that. But like, the point being this, this, those draft classes maybe would have curbed the drastic tanking that we saw this year because of said loaded draft. That's what I kept saying. I think I truly believe that, that this was a bit of an anomaly. It was ugly, wasn't great. But I don't think it's a continuing thing every year depending on the draft class. So. But anyway, they're doing it and it's happening and it's going to be televised and there's going to be a magic man pulling these lottery balls if Taske gets his way.
Tas Melas
No, they can't. They can't use Imagine.
Jay Skeets
Okay?
Tas Melas
They cannot. They just are going to have a presenter come to present the odds. As many as, as much as there's going to be a Kornacki, a Hollinger, whoever. There just has to be someone with the ability to be on tv. That's all I'm asking for. Nothing beyond that but that, you know, those people will be there. Givoni, he'll be there. I think. Okay, you know, those type of people. But again, I don't know this. I think this is still better than the 8% odds in that idea. The 8% odds for every team in the bottom 10. I think it's better than that.
Trey Kirby
I think there's parts to like about this, but I also think the NBA knows this is not a perfect solution because they're like, if this doesn't work, we'll change it again in three years.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, that's true.
Trey Kirby
So, yeah, they got. They're trying something. It was a black mark on the league this year for sure. So Adam Silver is a reactive guy.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Yeah. Well, the other thing included in this vote, at least from the 29, is that silver will have increased powers to punish perceived tanking, including altering lottery odds, changing where a team picks and fines up to $10 million. See, to me, that may have been enough. If they had voted on that and they gave them all the power in the world to really drop the hammer on the blatant tanking, the sitting guys in fourth quarters and not having them in the lineup all star level player. I mean, I don't know. I think that could have done it as well. That's my opinion on that. I have stuck with that, but I guess he now has that at least.
Tas Melas
What was it, a $10 million fee. Where would the other.
Jay Skeets
To literally take pics away.
Tas Melas
Take pics away.
Jay Skeets
Put like you're not. You're not picking top three. You're doing all this, like, it's a lot of power. And I get that that's scary, but it is. If the whole thing is he wants to try and save these black marks on the league, then he has to, like, sometimes do the old David Stern, like, move and, like. Yeah, okay. It's going to be unfortunate. If you think they were really skirting the rules and this is bad for the league and bad for the sport, then punish them and it will stop in a heartbeat. I think so. But anyway, he has the power now. Along with this. Power. Yeah, along with this.
Trey Kirby
You think it's a Masters of the Universe tie. He has the power now.
Jay Skeets
How about he's sort of skeletor a little bit.
Trey Kirby
He's more of a skeletor than a human. Would you be okay if Adam Silver was just like, you know what? I'm setting the drafted order. Every year I pick who gets 1 through 16.
Jay Skeets
Sign me up.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Rig it. Have a magic man pull these lottery balls.
Trey Kirby
Have a magic.
Jay Skeets
Have Silver tell them. Yeah, hey, give it to the Bulls. Give it to said team, whatever. Oh, no, I don't care.
Trey Kirby
I think it'd be good this year. Sacramento, it's your time.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
You've been waiting too long.
Tas Melas
I don't want to see a magic man. I don't want to see Penn and Teller. I don't want to see Dua Lipa singing Houdini. I don't want that at all. That would be bad.
Jay Skeets
All right.
Trey Kirby
I would watch her singing.
Tas Melas
Yeah, sure. Of course. Great performer.
Jay Skeets
All right, well, look, we're just going to see the repercussions of this. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. But we'll see it in 2027.
Trey Kirby
It is quick.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
And the second round changed up, huh?
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
They're like reverse ordering the second round, where whoever got. I think the 16th pick will get the 31st pick of the second round. Like the number one pick of the second round.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, I guess you are. I did sort of gloss over that. That is what they said. That's sort of. That's not nothing.
Trey Kirby
Missing the play in is the place you want to be right now.
Jay Skeets
Well, this is going to be the concern. I can't wait for us to be like, whoa, no, what have we done now? Teams are purposely missing the play in. Oh, what about the playoff gate money? They don't care. They'd have a better chance at a number one.
Trey Kirby
Missing the plan like this is ridiculous. As a Bulls fan, they should have came up with this years ago.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
That's all they do is getting into the playhead and lose.
Jay Skeets
You still thinking about magic? How do they do?
Tas Melas
You're swinging us to the next segment.
Jay Skeets
All right.

I asked Nora to help me pick out a couple of items, and it turns out she already had a cart ready of things she was planning on getting me from Quints. So I picked up two of the 100% European linen shirts. One striped, one solid. The material feels light and breathable and the stitching looks really well done. They're the perfect type of pieces that feel easy and comfortable but still look put together. And the best part is I didn't break the bank. Oh boy. Oh boy. Of the night. Sponsored by Lawrence Chung by way of the YouTube stream Rapid Fire sponsor. That's what Lauren wants. Lawrence.
Tas Melas
For you. Lawrence.
Jay Skeets
I love you, Lawrence, but which one is he sponsoring? Fire or low boy?
Tas Melas
I know he put it on his comment on the YouTube stream.
Jay Skeets
Gotcha.
Tas Melas
Just straight up Rapid Fire sponsor. All right, in the middle here.
Jay Skeets
You get them both. You get them both here today, Lawrence. It's a two for one. Wemby gets it 28 points in game six. 10 out of 21. Four or nine from deep 10 boards. I like that he hit the glass early. We didn't bring that up. I mean, he had a lot of those rebounds early in this game. Two dimes, two steals, three blocks all in 28 minutes. Victor Wembanyama. Congrats to him.
Trey Kirby
Fresh cut.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Coming through.
Jay Skeets
Indeed. Indeed. All right. It is the drop. It's Friday. We will have a podcast tomorrow. Night. Yeah, Tomorrow's Saturday.
Tas Melas
Wow.
Jay Skeets
Game seven, baby. That's going to be fun. We'll do a live watch party here in the factory. Game starts at 8:15. They put it on the graphic test.
Tas Melas
Interesting.
Jay Skeets
You do love that. That is a nice little note there.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Starting a little earlier than these weekday games.
Tas Melas
No rush.
Jay Skeets
No, we'll be live.
Tas Melas
You don't have to rush to get there for 8pm no, but we'll probably
Jay Skeets
be here around 8pm yeah. So come. We got to order.
Tas Melas
We got ads.
Jay Skeets
Mellow mushroom.
Trey Kirby
Yep.
Jay Skeets
I mean, we're ordering pizza.
Tas Melas
Yeah, this is. Yeah, this is a no ads show from 8 to 8:15. Unlike the broadcast. Other than a mellow mushroom, I guess.
Jay Skeets
Carmelo mushroom. So that's tomorrow. That's tomorrow night. And then we'll do immediate reaction podcasts again here from the factory. But this is Friday. This is the drop. This is rapid fire time. Trey, you got the questions? We got the answers.
Trey Kirby
Chess grandmaster Magnus Carlson made NBA waves earlier this week for calling out the league pass app. The young genius said, we have one of the best series in years going on right now in the Western Conference finals. And when people have no spoilers on in the app, they expect no spoilers. So do better. Sounds like we got ourselves a complainted area, guys. What is a complaint you have? That has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
Jay Skeets
Why don't drivers use their turn signals? What the is going on?
Trey Kirby
Welcome to Atlanta.
JD (Super Producer)
What is.
Jay Skeets
It's insane to me.
Tas Melas
No.
Jay Skeets
You have to be the laziest person of all time to not be able to do that.
Tas Melas
Just that.
Jay Skeets
Just to let us know where you're going. It helps. It actually helps. It's baffling. Yeah, it's a. It's an Atlanta thing for sure, but I feel like it's a pandemic across the. Across the country.
Tas Melas
You use your pinky when you're tapping your turn signal.
Jay Skeets
You know what I mean? It's right there, Tass. It's right there.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Oh, the driver wants to be sleek and cool. Now if it's impacting others.
Jay Skeets
Oh, my God. Yeah. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Do you see turn signals on a race car track?
JD (Super Producer)
It's not a race car track, man.
Jay Skeets
Hey, man, sounds like you don't use turn signals.
Tas Melas
No, I'm not advocating for people who are affected affecting other drivers. Absolutely not. But jt, you love getting behind the wheel. You love your stick shift. Don't you love. Don't you love being able to turn off the signal and just. And just merge? I Mean, as long as you're not affecting anybody.
JD (Super Producer)
If there's no one around, sometimes I won't. You're right. You're right.
Jay Skeets
If there's no one around, that's bad. Because that creates a bad habit. Hey, just do it.
JD (Super Producer)
Okay.
Trey Kirby
You are who you are when nobody's watching.
Jay Skeets
That's right.
Trey Kirby
Even on the road. So, Chaz, it sounds like you're telling me when you see somebody switch lanes or turn without their signal, you're like,
Tas Melas
ooh, I want to get to know your name. It all depends. It all depends. It all depends on the matter, how
Trey Kirby
cool they do it.
Jay Skeets
But I will say, once you have come over to your lane, you can turn it off. That's another thing that drives me nuts. Turn it off.
Tas Melas
Off.
Jay Skeets
Turn it off.
Tas Melas
Oh, I love the person. I guess I love myself because I love doing this. But when you're changing two lanes, I will go into that first lane and turn it off and then turn it back on.
Jay Skeets
That's nice. Driving test.
JD (Super Producer)
Intentional.
Jay Skeets
That's really why you're the best driver I know.
Tas Melas
It is intentional.
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Danielle will see me doing. She's like, what are you doing that for the people who need to know you from behind. Well, they need to know that I've made one lane.
Jay Skeets
That's right.
Tas Melas
And then a second one.
Jay Skeets
That's right. Very nice.
Trey Kirby
One complete. Commence lane change.
Jay Skeets
Two.
JD (Super Producer)
It's speaking. You're compensating for other people's bad habits because. Exactly what you said, Skeets. Like, they'll leave it on.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
Tess is like, I gotta let the guy know behind me that I'm actually going again.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, that's it.
Tas Melas
I think it's a good move.
JD (Super Producer)
It is.
Jay Skeets
It is.
JD (Super Producer)
It's a great move.
Tas Melas
Thank you. I'm gonna write to all my friends. That was not part of my answer here, Trey. No, but I have a complaint for taking off a shirt when I actually just can't get it off. I hate that. Especially after workouts, you know, you can't. They can't rip it off. Oh, gosh.
Jay Skeets
Oh, that's a bad feeling now.
Tas Melas
10,000 athletic apparel. They do a good job. The polyester. I don't know. This is not an ad. But somehow the polyester there does slide off pretty well.
Trey Kirby
Slidey.
Tas Melas
But I'm just not flexible enough. Not good enough to rip something off my back. Very well. It happens too often.
Jay Skeets
Why the hell are you wearing a shirt, big guy? You don't need it.
Tas Melas
Do you want me to show my fl. Just cuz I'VE been to the gym once. Doesn't mean I. I every day. God, no, I can't. I wish I could. I got to do a freaking show. If I didn't have to do a show, I'd be there. With all goddamn shows getting in the
Jay Skeets
way, There goes the day.
Tas Melas
I'm not a noon man. I need to do it in the morning.
JD (Super Producer)
I'm with you.
Tas Melas
Once it hits noon.
Jay Skeets
That's tough. That's much more tough.
Tas Melas
10,000 steps.
Jay Skeets
Get out of here.
Tas Melas
Not gonna happen.
Jay Skeets
Gotta use your turn signal on the way to the gym.
Tas Melas
I count my steps walking to the car to get in my car. Good. Seven.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, well, 14. When did you walk back in? Only 9,986 degrees. Go, J.D. what are you complaining about?
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah, my algorithm needs to calm down, man. I mentioned a few months back that I was being inundated by women on mechanical bulls. Remember that? It's just. They were just. I. I lingered on one time, just one time.
Jay Skeets
I wanted to see if she'd get bucked, okay?
JD (Super Producer)
And then the Survivor 50 just ended. And all the cast got together, wherever they were. They all went to a Western bar, and my girl Camilla got on a mechanical bill. You bet your ass. I watched that video because it was Camila. It was hilarious.
Jay Skeets
But now the algorithm's like, oh, this
JD (Super Producer)
guy did mechanical bills again.
Jay Skeets
This guy loves me.
JD (Super Producer)
This guy loves a mechanical bull.
Jay Skeets
A woman on a mechanical.
JD (Super Producer)
That's all. Women, too, of course.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. What a shot.
JD (Super Producer)
It's just like, algorithm. Please, listen to me. Look, for once, listen to me. I don't need to. To see women on mechanical bulls, okay?
Jay Skeets
Stop saying mechanical bulls. That's what. It's all it's picking up.
JD (Super Producer)
I'm saying I don't want to see it.
Tas Melas
Doesn't realize I hate bulls,
JD (Super Producer)
especially the mechanical kind. Get them out of here.
Tas Melas
But that. I can understand why that. That ropes you in, no pun intended, with cows. But. But because it's. It's immediate and it's good right off the bat, right? Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
Someone flying off of a bull. It's fun to watch people falling down is what I want to see. People falling down.
Tas Melas
I mean, it's giving you what you want.
JD (Super Producer)
Exactly. I guess. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Just too many. Now,
Tas Melas
these are metal bulls, right?
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
They're in, like, 100. In a Western bar somewhere.
Tas Melas
Does anybody really hurt themselves?
JD (Super Producer)
The thing barely moves and people fall off.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. These videos suck.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
That's. What you're upset.
JD (Super Producer)
Maybe if they were better.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
You want a little bit of writing?
Jay Skeets
Before falling off.
JD (Super Producer)
That's right.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Sounds like we need to re upload Tassa riding the mechanical bull.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. That could be a good certified classic. Wait, we. Did we make that one?
Trey Kirby
I think we've done Extreme Horse.
Jay Skeets
Okay. We did play that full.
Trey Kirby
But we want to target this algorithm specifically, so we're just going with the bull riding part.
Jay Skeets
Oh, I'm a tame beast. That's.
Tas Melas
The. The actual riding of the bull wasn't incredible video. Right. Like, I had to speed it up.
Jay Skeets
It was not very good. That part. But you guys saved it. Yeah.
Tas Melas
But I would say that's a. That's a metal. I don't know if it's aluminum. That's a strong ass bowl that caused many concussions. I would say.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. The one you rode.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
I mean, that was in a. A huge country bar. Oh, gosh.
Tas Melas
There was so much line dance. Line dancing for miles. I mean, it was a factory. It felt like an industrial warehouse.
Jay Skeets
It was huge. It was. Where were we?
JD (Super Producer)
San Antonio.
Jay Skeets
San Antonio. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
JD (Super Producer)
We've never put that much effort into literally anything we've ever done before. From the costumes. Costumes to like an entire morning shooting Extreme Horse.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
To that night, literally 12 hours later. You guys, full regalia. Costumed up. Walking through this that. We heard they had a mechanical bowl for some reason.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
And it was the only reason we went there.
Tas Melas
Started with breakfast burritos.
Jay Skeets
Oh, yeah.
Tas Melas
From Ben Hunt. Yeah. That was a good.
Jay Skeets
The one thing we didn't put a lot of. A lot of thought into is maybe the actual shots we were doing. We were coming up with those on the spot. Yeah. Yeah.
Tas Melas
And it was kind of dark on that bull. And we didn't get any shots of line dancing. No, not that. I don't think anybody did line dancing from us. Anybody do a line dance?
Jay Skeets
I don't think so.
Trey Kirby
We gotta go back.
Jay Skeets
I feel like nobody even, like, acknowledged us. Like, we were dressed insane.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, there's.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
These guys are really into this, right?
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah, 100%.
Trey Kirby
And remember the. The costume store people? That was awesome. We could have made a show out of those people.
Jay Skeets
I remember thinking, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We were like, even. Like, they should have a reality show. These people in this costume. All right, next one.
Trey Kirby
Good first question. Kristen Winfield. Nick's beat Repiter. Beat Repliter. Nick's beat writer slash beat reporter for the New York Daily News. He showed up to a game for a press conference with a bucket of chicken wings. And on Washington, almost immediately zing from the podium by Josh Hart. Guys, when is a time and place you were eating when you shouldn't have been eating?
Jay Skeets
On last night's Watch party livestream, I inhaled a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. Oh, but this is like next level answering in rapid fire here. All day long, I couldn't think of an answer to this. So I said, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to make sure I eat a bowl of cereal tonight on a live stream so the next day I can use that as my answer.
Tas Melas
That's smart.
Jay Skeets
I don't know. Has that ever been done before? That was really great. Yeah, that's great. I didn't even want to eat that bowl of cereal last night. I mean, I still gobbled it up. You sold me.
Trey Kirby
I didn't know this was all acting.
Jay Skeets
I'm a great actor.
Trey Kirby
This guy's loving this serial.
Tas Melas
I'm sold, man. I want to go buy some HNCs right now.
Jay Skeets
You like HNC? Of course. God. One of the best cereals ever made.
Trey Kirby
It might be number one.
Jay Skeets
It is number one.
Trey Kirby
Likes that Honey Nut Cheerio. Like, it's not my number one, but it's on my Mount Rushmore.
Tas Melas
So good. Yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
And yeah. There was talk of how quickly I eat a bowl of cereal. I do. It's a bit of a condition. Nora has brought it up many times. Like, breathe. Would you breathe when you eat a bowl of cereal? I just. Just straight shoveling Michael Rapaport style. Like I'm on the Traders. They were saying in the the Stream team last night, oh, yeah, Josh, I. I eat it so quick. I love it.
Trey Kirby
And he didn't even want it.
Jay Skeets
I didn't even even want it. I was full. I was full.
Trey Kirby
He was doing it for.
Jay Skeets
I did it for this moment. Yeah.
Tas Melas
I too, did not have an answer for this for all day long. So I'm going off the board here. I'm going with these Trader Joe's gummy
JD (Super Producer)
worms and the ad man today,
Trey Kirby
it's
Tas Melas
actually not a good ad because the dietary fiber in these things is what I'm pointing out. 14 grams of fiber. There's been many stories of people online saying, I ate these things and I was on the toilet.
Jay Skeets
Really?
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
Let's either crack them open.
Tas Melas
The number one ingredient is resistant tapioca dextrin fiber. 14 grams of fiber. That's 50 of your fiber.
Jay Skeets
Do you have a lot of fiber? One or the packet?
Tas Melas
Eight pieces.
Jay Skeets
Okay. Serving a.
Trey Kirby
Serving a gram of fiber.
Tas Melas
So feel free to get in here.
JD (Super Producer)
Have you Seen the, the viral video of the guy who eats a 10 pound bag of sugar free gummies?
Tas Melas
Yes.
Jay Skeets
And then he rides a mechanical bull.
Tas Melas
Oh, I wish you shared that this summer, I think. J.D.
JD (Super Producer)
did I. Yeah. Oh, as a pick and payoff.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You did.
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah. Oh, it was. It was actually in January. I remember where I was when I watched that video. I was in an airport. Oh. Yeah. So I was ready to go to the bathroom.
Jay Skeets
Felt like more tart than I thought it was going to be. Yeah, not bad.
Trey Kirby
Not bad.
Tas Melas
That's good.
Jay Skeets
Can't wait to it up.
Tas Melas
Can't believe how much fiber is in this thing.
JD (Super Producer)
How much weed is in there?
Tas Melas
Not a weed in sight.
Jay Skeets
Not enough. Okay. But hey, no sugar. Just fiber.
Tas Melas
Allulose.
Trey Kirby
Trader Joe's tapioca. JD When. When were you eating when you shouldn't have been eating?
JD (Super Producer)
I struggle with this too.
Trey Kirby
Sorry, bad question.
Tas Melas
It's surprising though. We've done TV for a long time. You thought like some weird chicken wings
Trey Kirby
into a movie theater.
Jay Skeets
I don't know.
JD (Super Producer)
I mean.
Jay Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Never.
JD (Super Producer)
Sure.
Jay Skeets
Took chicken. Took chicken wings into a movie.
JD (Super Producer)
Not chicken wings, but taking food in there.
Jay Skeets
No.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
I mean, look, I worked in restaurants, you know, growing up and stuff. So you're always sort of eating basically over a garbage can. Like, you know, we worked in tv. Worked at the control, like the, in the truck kind of thing. Like at the, the, you know, the control board board and stuff.
Tas Melas
Over those buttons.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. That's dangerous. What were you eating?
Tas Melas
Whatever.
JD (Super Producer)
I don't know.
Tas Melas
Whatever.
JD (Super Producer)
It was garbage. What's the, the hot bobby from. What was that place called?
Trey Kirby
Capriotti.
JD (Super Producer)
Capriotti.
Tas Melas
That's a saucy. That's a saucy sandwich. That's a risk.
JD (Super Producer)
It's a big risk.
Tas Melas
Very risky.
JD (Super Producer)
But, yeah, that's it, I guess. I don't know. I don't have a fun answer for this.
Jay Skeets
That's on me.
Trey Kirby
That one's on me.
JD (Super Producer)
Rachel said immediately. What about the toilet? Ever eat on the toilet? I'm like, no. Have you? Like, you know, sometimes.
Jay Skeets
That's a good. That would be a good answer. I'm trying to think of a time I've eaten on the toilet, though.
Trey Kirby
Have a couple more of these worms,
Jay Skeets
but then I gotta go eat them on the toilet. Like, keep, Keep it going.
JD (Super Producer)
Keep it going.
Trey Kirby
Keep it just flowing straight through.
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Then we can ask this question again next week.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, okay.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, that one's on me, guys.
Jay Skeets
Hey, man, we gotta.
Trey Kirby
My bad.
Jay Skeets
What are you talking about? We got to Talk about Honey nut Cheerios. These crazy gummy worms.
Trey Kirby
This is for you guys to show off with great answers. And I asked a bad one. It's on me. We're down to the nitty gritty in the NBA. Maximum eight games remain. Now that we got a bunch of nights with no games going on, what's something you're gonna finally get around to doing?
Jay Skeets
Okay, for my Canadians, I'm gonna fix an eaves trough. For my Americans, I'm gonna fix a gutter. That's my plan. I think during these torrential downpours, we've had storms over the last little bit. I think something. I think a big branch sort of dislodged one of my eavesdrops. One of my gutters. Depends where you live, what you call it. But I think it's off a little bit. It's quite high, though. But I got to get up there, and I think I can fix this one myself. I'm gonna give it a go at least. I'm gonna go assess it, get up there, try not to fall off the roof, and we'll see what I can do.
Tas Melas
Or you're gonna get on the roof?
Jay Skeets
Probably. Yeah. Well, tbd. It's quite high.
Trey Kirby
It's.
Jay Skeets
I don't know if my ladder can reach it, so I might have to. My roof's not too. Too steep. I. I'm comfortable on a roof that's dancing around up there.
Tas Melas
That's the sound that was bothering you while you were doing a live stream or a podcast.
Jay Skeets
Little different. Little different. That was dripping in pipe, the gutter. So that was like rain had happened then in. The rain had stopped, and it was, like, right outside my office window. The drip. So it's dropping from the top gutter to the bottom of the gutter?
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
That's what's making the sound.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Skeets
So that's something different.
JD (Super Producer)
You couldn't hear it, though.
Tas Melas
No, you can hear.
Jay Skeets
I know. It was just driving me crazy.
Tas Melas
Yeah, I hear you. I hear you. It's a weird thing during a storm. It's just one single drop happens off a shingle or off something that hits. It's hitting the ground by my house, and I just think, is there something wrong here? Yeah, I gotta fix something here. Gotta do something here. That's just a drip.
Jay Skeets
Just a drip.
Tas Melas
Just let it go, man. Just let it go. But it's great to get out there, get on, fix stuff.
Trey Kirby
Yeah. I got some roof work to do as well.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Trey Kirby
Unfortunately.
Jay Skeets
You want me to come over, dance on your roof?
Trey Kirby
Yeah, but I'll fix the roofing.
Jay Skeets
Doing Michael Jackson.
Trey Kirby
What Skeets over for? She's just dancing. I'll do the leave blowing, but it's fine. Tass, what are you getting up to?
Tas Melas
I'm just going to be able to flex my abs while I'm sitting because I'm not in shape. But I decided, you know how I'm gonna compensate for not being in shape? Just flexing while I'm sitting. And my terrible posture, flexing while I'm sitting. So that's what I'm gonna do. The thing that was actually on my list was the documentary about crypto that was in movie theaters, but now it's not in movie theaters, and I'm trying to watch it illegally, everywhere. Legally, I'm gonna pay for it. But you can't watch. You can't watch it legally. Can't watch it anywhere. It's the Ben McKenzie everyone is lying to you for money documentary about crypto. I just want my hands on it. I can't get my hands on it. Wow. Nowhere.
Jay Skeets
I didn't know this.
Trey Kirby
I never heard from the O.C.
Jay Skeets
yeah.
Trey Kirby
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Skeets
Heard of this?
Tas Melas
Yeah, yeah. People say you're an actor. You don't know anything about crypto. He's got economics major he knows about. Yeah, yeah. Surprising, right? Thanks. Yeah, yeah.
Trey Kirby
Who would have guessed?
Tas Melas
It looks really good.
Jay Skeets
It just can't find it.
Tas Melas
Well, it was in theaters. Now it's not in theaters, and I can't buy it online. I don't know. They're. They're, you know, they'll figure it out.
Trey Kirby
Cool.
Jay Skeets
J.D.
JD (Super Producer)
yeah. We've been doing a purge around here, and we found a guitar.
Jay Skeets
Hey.
JD (Super Producer)
Which I kind of know chords and stuff, but. And I was thinking maybe I'd learn how to play it.
Tas Melas
Sweet. Oh, wow.
Jay Skeets
Good for you.
Tas Melas
I don't know.
Jay Skeets
I don't know. But first Wonderwall ever.
JD (Super Producer)
Absolutely.
Jay Skeets
Oh, it'll be the first song you play and learn. Where would you hope to be? Oh, I don't know.
JD (Super Producer)
Maybe I'll learn Stairway to Heaven finally.
Tas Melas
All right. The.
JD (Super Producer)
The one song nobody wants to hear.
Trey Kirby
I think it's time.
JD (Super Producer)
It's enough time has passed.
Trey Kirby
Totally.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
It was like. The last time was Wayne's World, maybe when they. The sign. No. Stairway to Heaven. What was the other song in that? Was it just Stairway?
Trey Kirby
It was no Stairway, though. Just definitely the guitar shop scene, for sure.
JD (Super Producer)
But I think enough time has passed. That song is 40 years old. 45 years old. Yeah. I'm gonna learn. Stay. What happened that's what.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, There we go.
Tas Melas
I'm relearning piano as well.
Jay Skeets
I was just gonna ask you that. Yeah, I remember when that was a thing and then sort of fell off.
Tas Melas
Yeah. That was a classic Covid thing. You got to do stuff during COVID I was playing it for a bit and stopped. Kids are relearning it, though, during the summer, so I'm, you know, playing along with them. So I'll learn piano. Trey, J.D. you guys both play guitar. You know, you give me. And then songs. Yeah. Are you drumming?
Jay Skeets
Are you. I can drum, sure.
Tas Melas
Sing a rhythm.
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Have you seen me dance on a roof?
Trey Kirby
You're gonna be like a stuff.
Jay Skeets
JD Is a drummer.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
But you know what? I got it here.
JD (Super Producer)
Yeah. We should play some instruments. We're not. You don't usually play.
Tas Melas
Right, right, right.
JD (Super Producer)
But Jack is a very good drummer as well.
Jay Skeets
Your son. Yeah.
Tas Melas
Okay.
JD (Super Producer)
But we need somebody on bass. No one ever wants to play the bass.
Trey Kirby
I'll do the bass. I'll be the bass.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, I could see. Okay, there we go. We're starting to ban during these. During the down days of the NBA season rehearsal tonight. Yeah. Yeah. I did share some alpha on the live stream last night, too. I'll share it here for everybody. We will be doing a movie franchise rewatch this summer. We've had a lot of fun doing the Fast and Furious movies. That was a while ago, recapping every single one of those. And then we did Jurassic park last year. That was a blast. We've got a couple in the running movie franchises that we are going to actually probably make a show and pitch our cases for each of us to present our movie franchises. And the fans will vote on which one they want to see us tackle. That's the. That's the move right now. Get your votes so that we got a little bit of time, of course, but we'll eventually be having some fun this summer with a very weird movie franchise, I'm sure. Can't wait. Can't wait.
Trey Kirby
And our first EP will be dropping at the end of summer.
JD (Super Producer)
Wow.
Jay Skeets
We have a big summer. All right. That's rapid fire. Not so rapid. That's the drop. Hopefully a classic. But that's up to you to decide. And you decide that by hitting the like button, by subscribing, by sharing the show, by leaving us five star ratings and reviews, and by commenting away all weekend long. I'll say for the third time. We're back here tomorrow night, Saturday night around 8pm Eastern. We'll have a live watch party for game seven, baby, of the Western Conference Finals. We'll just be your second screen experience. We'll have a blast. You'll watch us eat pizza. Maybe we'll get the instruments out during commercial breaks. I don't know. I don't know.
Trey Kirby
Practice during breaks.
Jay Skeets
But then immediately following that, we'll have another feed and do an immediate reaction podcast to Game seven. And then on Monday, you know, NBA Finals previews and all that good stuff. So lots coming here over the next couple weeks, even though the basketball slows down. Very excited, though, for Game 7 in the NBA Finals. So we hope to see you tomorrow night. Till then, Clipper Bros.
JD (Super Producer)
Sorry.
Jay Skeets
That's all right.
JD (Super Producer)
They were. We were going to do Summer House.
Jay Skeets
Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
Do it for first.
Jay Skeets
Do what? Summer House. Oh, yeah. Well, you made this fun graphic. So let's show this. Yesterday, Nora explained Summerhouse to jd, myself and all of our viewers and listeners. It's a lot of fun. We had a blast, actually talking about this insane show in the reunion show. We'll be doing parts two and three next week, so that's no bus. Link is in the show notes. I'll make sure it's there. Head on over. We usually do Survivor. We've done Traders before. We're just doing some fun summer house reunions. And Nora turns out it's a pretty good podcaster. She basically led it good. I'm like, ah, damn, she's better at me than this. I've done this for 20 years. She's done like eight podcasts. I'm like, ah, Jesus, she's better at this.
Trey Kirby
Can she dance on a roof?
Jay Skeets
No.
Trey Kirby
Well, there you go.
Jay Skeets
I've never even seen her on a roof. Never seen her on a ladder, Will. Yeah, I don't even. Sure. I've never seen her on a step ladder.
Tas Melas
She did. She was on. I saw her on a ladder.
Jay Skeets
You did?
Tas Melas
Yeah.
Jay Skeets
Nice memory. Wow, that's an incredible memory.
Tas Melas
Yeah. Yeah. Well, it was at my house.
Jay Skeets
But you only remember because you're like, never see that again.
JD (Super Producer)
Was she good at it? Being on a ladder?
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
She fixed the light.
Jay Skeets
Yeah.
Tas Melas
Yeah.
JD (Super Producer)
Get her on that roof, she's a
Jay Skeets
better podcaster, let me tell you. Let me tell you. Anyway, check that out. Clipper Rose, you heard it here first.
Trey Kirby
Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys. Awesome.
Tas Melas
Thanks for joining us. And remember, join. Join us tomorrow when we'll be eating. Think about this Burger King throwing it out there. No, because we talked about it. I thought we talked about It. Yeah, I'm fine.
Jay Skeets
Why do you want to do Burger King?
Tas Melas
I thought we talked about it. Maybe I just talked about it with others, and rdub6592 brought it up as well. I'm ready for Burger King, R. Dub said, and so was I. We talked about it.
Jay Skeets
New Burger King.
Tas Melas
A char grilled Burger King. Yeah, we talked about it. Char grilled Whopper. That's microwave.
Jay Skeets
Probably
Tas Melas
not mad.
Jay Skeets
Not at this guy. Just slip one more in.
JD (Super Producer)
I'm starting to think you have, like, side deals that we don't know about.
Jay Skeets
He's making so much money off that show.
Tas Melas
What are you talking about?
Jay Skeets
Yeah. Trader Joe's Trader Tasks. Wow.
Trey Kirby
Two of them. That's risky. Yeah, I guess the show's coming to an end, though.
Tas Melas
It's only like, 3.5 dietary fiber. Grams of dietary fiber. 2 of 8. You're good. 14 grams.
Jay Skeets
Tomorrow night, Tass will be eating Burger King while he's on the after.
Tas Melas
I haven't had Burger King in decades. Think about a good Whopper right now. How's that sound?
Trey Kirby
You're actually talking.
Jay Skeets
Oh, no. Oh, no. I wanted pizza.
Tas Melas
How bad is burger? When's the last time anyone said burger?
Jay Skeets
I've had it so long.
Tas Melas
We're on the rank. Okay, we'll rank. Yeah, okay, we'll rank. We'll rank our fast foods. Sure.
Jay Skeets
At least we will. We'll do that. That'll be a commercial break. We're gonna have so much fun. We're gonna eat so much food tomorrow, it's gonna be nuts. It's gonna be nuts in here.
Trey Kirby
We're gonna have so many answers for that dumbass question.
Jay Skeets
You got so many. We're running it back next week.
Trey Kirby
I was just early.
Jay Skeets
Yeah, exactly. All right, everybody, have a great Friday night, and we'll see you hopefully Saturday night. If not, see you Monday. Embrace the day.
Tas Melas
People.
Jay Skeets
Support from this show comes from Quince. I'm way overdue for a wardrobe refresh. I'm a podcast host. That is very important. I drive a Chevy Trax. I'm a man. I'm 45. Clothes shopping in person is simply not a priority for me, so I usually wear the same stuff till my wife calls me out. For these reasons, I'm pumped to say that Quint has been my new go to. I asked Nora to help me pick out a couple of items, and it turns out she already had a cart ready of things she was planning on getting me from Quints. So I picked up two of the 100% European linen shirts one striped, one solid. The material feels light and breathable and the stitching looks really well done. They're the perfect type of pieces that feel easy and comfortable but still look put together. And the best part is I didn't break the bank. In fact, everything I purchased was priced 50 to 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Why? Because Quint works directly with the ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen. So you're getting premium materials without the markup. Refresh your everyday with luxury you'll actually use. Head to quince.com nodunks for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. thing I did today I had a coffee and I wasn't happy with it. I couldn't even get through the cup. I bought a bad boy bean and I always buy good beans. That's when I turned to an alternative option. An Ultra Pouch. What's that? An Ultra Pouch is a pouch with zero caffeine and zero nicotine plant powered pouches designed to sharpen your mind and lift your energy. What exactly is in Ultra pouches, you might ask? Well, Infinity px, a cleaner, smoother energy boost than caffeine. The primary metabolic byproduct of caffeine L Theanine, an amino acid alpha GPC, a nootropic for enhanced mental processing, and vitamin B6 and B12. That's it. Just put it in your mouth, let it dissolve. Clinically proven elements that provide immediate focus and smooth energy that lasts one to two hours. I definitely like it as an afternoon option. Instead of coffee, you're not having to worry about caffeine in you all night. No caffeine spikes here. I'll keep them in my gym bag for that extra push needed before a workout. Give me some of that icy and fresh wintergreen flavor. Ultra is the ultimate guilt free pouch delivering instant focus and mental clarity without nicotine or caffeine. On-court, the Spurs forced a dramatic Game 7 on the back of historic shooting and suffocating defense, punctuated by Wembanyama’s calm mastery and statement pregame presence. The Thunder, meanwhile, looked lost—particularly SGA, overwhelmed by the Spurs’ defensive tactics.
Off-court, the new NBA draft lottery reform drew passionate commentary and concern from the crew. The hosts agreed that the changes, while aimed at stopping tanking, tilt the playing field in favor of teams already set up for dynasty runs (like the Spurs and Thunder), and may trap the league’s weakest teams in perpetual mediocrity.
Throughout, the No Dunks team infuses their trademark blend of inside basketball, trivia, pop culture jokes, and random life complaints—making this episode a comprehensive, lively take on a pivotal week in the NBA.
