Kylie Kelce
Not gonna lie. My kid told me that Jason's boobs are big and my boobs are tall. I don't know either. I mean, I think I know, but.
Asia Wilson
I'm gonna pretend like I know.
Kylie Kelce
Let's get this podcast started. Welcome back to Not Gonna Lie, a wave original brought to you by Olipop, a new kind of soda. I'm your host, Kylie Kelce, a firm believer in waiting until after Thanksgiving. That's right, after. To decorate for Christmas or listen to Christmas music. Cut that shit out. It's not time. Give Thanksgiving her moment. I now host two different YouTube shows. What the. Shout out to Fafo. What are we doing? Apparently two YouTube shows. And consider this your quarterly reminder. I can fight and I will if I need to. Okay. That's right. Don't think I didn't see some of those comments on the Thirst Trap Garage Beer posted on my husband for his birthday. Let's start here. Garage beer, we have beef. Mm. Cut that out. You knew what you were doing. I respect it. I do want to shout out to the real ones who have clearly heard my warnings, like at Hummingbird Cake, who said, I'm gonna bite my tongue before I say something that makes Kylie come beat my ass. Way to recognize because you know I would. Someone else said Happy birthday to Jason and congratulations to Kylie. Thank you. Women supporting women. You know, we love that around here. I do just want to restate as the reminder clear as day so there is no confusion. That's mine. Yep. When you see my husband, you should hear my voice. Like the Finding Nemo seagulls. Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine. Okay, don't get it twisted. Coming up on today's episode, apparently I was the subject of an I don't think so honey on the Las Culturistas podcast podcast. And I'm absolutely honored. I'm going to talk about that as well as what it takes to be an absolutely elite aunt or uncle in Doom scroll of the week. I also had absolutely no business hosting a panel with Malala in Philly, but I'm so excited they let me do it anyway. And you know, I got her to say, go Birds. After that, I'm going to be joined by the three time WNBA champion and league mvp, the greatest in the world, Asia Wilson. I just short circuited because of how amazing the interview was. I'm still. I'm crashing out about it. Just another person I had no business speaking to. Okay, but first let's get into real one comments of the week. We've got a quite a few comments like this one in last week's Disney episode. An entire podcast where Kylie didn't swear. Crying, laughing face. How hard was that? Two crying laughing faces. P.S. that sign off. Excellent. Well, I'm glad you guys picked up on that. I was saying that I was gonna do one episode that was swear free. The entire thing dedicated to Big Ed. For those of you who don't know, Big Ed is my father. He is the only person that I make a conscious effort not to say the F word in front of when, well, him and other people's children. So I did say for a long time that that was going to be my one swear free episode was going to be a shout out to Big Ed. So shout out to Big Ed. We done? Didn't it? Now we're done. We did it. And we can move on from not swearing because I do understand that it is a family friendly place and we probably shouldn't freely drop the F bomb there, but sometimes when you see something magical, you're just like, that was cool. You know, probably can't keep that in. We'll see. And our next Real One comment is actually real one artwork. Big Ed said. Not my Big Ed. A different Big Ed said. I made a fun fafo Christmas ornament modeled after the love artwork in Philly. Think at NGL with Kylie will like it. Easy answer here. Yeah, that's a great. That's, that's outstanding. That's a great Christmas ornament. Really gets you into the holiday spirit. Okay, I need this for the NGL set when we start decorating our Japanese maple as a Christmas tree. Big Ed Please make sure to check your DMs because someone is going to slide into them on my behalf. That's it. For real. 1 Comments of the week. Moving on, let's get right into Doom scroll of the Week, brought to you by Peloton. Check out the new cross training Tread Plus@1Peloton.com all right, first up on Doom Scroll, TikToker Kay McVeigh shared this video of her son calling his aunt about a bad grade he got in school. And she had the most peak ant response ever for her nephew, Queen Emma. The clip please. It says, my son calling my sister to see if she would sign a paper with a bad grade. Really quick. So I got a really bad grade on a test today, and I was wondering if you could sign my mom's signature because she doesn't, like, I don't want her to see it because, like, I'm really scared that I'm gonna get in trouble. Yep. All right. So can I, like, ride my bike over?
Asia Wilson
Yep.
Kylie Kelce
I'm so happy. All right, thank you. I'm on my way. All right. Bye. Bye. Yeah. Or as she said, yep, that. Outstanding. First of all, the prompt response. Yep. Yep. Absolutely. I love this so much. Your aunts and uncles are supposed to be safe space. They're supposed to be the family that's just removed enough that. That they can kind of get behind the chaos that ensues. I love this so much. If I currently have my three nieces that I call my nieces, they're a family friend that are close enough that I feel they are my nieces. I also have true blood related two nieces, one nephew that I am grateful enough to have in my life. If any of them called me, my, my nieces are teenagers. If any of them called me, I mean, if they called me for a ride at 1am, if they called me to sign a test, if they call me for anything, I'd be like, drop a pin. Give me 10 minutes. And that's 10 minutes to get to you. Not 10 minutes until I leave my house. 10 minutes, no questions asked. I do believe that my. I do believe Uncle Trav would do this. I think Uncle Trav wouldn't think twice. It would be difficult to get it to him. But by then there might be like virtual signature for these test situations. And if that is the case, Uncle Trav, I guarantee you will sign it to send back to school. I know that for a fact, and I know that because I think there's two layers to this. Will they sign it Maybe three layers. Will they sign it? How much of a priority is it? And are they going to tell the parents my answer. Will I sign it? Yes. How quickly am I going to get this done? Is it a priority? Top priority. It's going back to school with you tomorrow. Even if you call me. 9:30 at night. Okay. Third, I'm not telling nobody what happened. Who? That's not my. I didn't do that. I didn't say that. I don't know what you're. I. I didn't even receive a phone call. I don't know what you're talking about. Get it? So call Aunt Kai. She'll take care of it. My little nieces and nephews, you know who you are. Give Aunt Kai a call. I'll take care of it. Take care of it real quick. Yep. To be clear, you're still going to have that grade. But I will sign it. I'm not going to be the aunt that's like. You shouldn't be giving them. I know. You are in that grade. Sees. Get degrees. How do you think I graduated? Next up on Doom scroll, we're talking about practice. That's right. World cup champion Abby Wambach was on the Today show and shared her thoughts on parents attending their kids sports practices. Queen Emma, the clip. Please not go to practice. Oh, practice. Drop your kids off. If they're young, walk them to the practice. Go. Get in your car, sit in your car, play on your phone, do whatever.
Asia Wilson
You want to do. Read a book, go for a walk.
Kylie Kelce
But do not go to the practice. This is a time for your kids to play, to not be looking over their shoulders. Also give parents their life back a little bit. That's true. Come on.
Asia Wilson
Amen.
Kylie Kelce
I cannot agree with this more. Don't go to. What are you doing? Don't go to practice. Do not go to practice. The practice is set up to prepare them for gameplay. Right. They're there to play. They're there to sort it out. They're there to learn new skills. They're there to focus on their teammates and the coach. I love the idea of roll up. Drop your kids off, tell them to have a great practice. If you want to stick around in the parking lot, fine. But it shouldn't be. It should be clear to your child that you are not involved in their practice. You know what's cool? When they come to you after practice and they get in the car and you can say, what did you work on today? What did you learn? How did that go? What did you like the Best. It's more ways to talk to your kids, but being there also, as if you're. What are you going to do? Pop in and coach too? No, go sit in your car. Cut that out. Don't do that. They're at practice. Let them go and play. Like Abby said, let them go play. That's why they're there. We are not quite to an age yet where our kids are doing organized sports without parents. We currently have. We've started soccer. When they do other practices, they've done gymnastics. I. During gymnastics, I have tried to sit down so that they can't see me. Why? I didn't like that because it was more of a, you're not going to leave me, right? We were still able to talk about what was happening afterwards. And whenever she looked at me, I was like, stop looking at me. Focus on what you're doing. And the one time I actually told her in the car, hey, if you keep looking over at me during practice, I will go and sit in a place where you can't see me because I'm not involved in your practice. You have to focus on your coach. And last scroll. It's been brought to my attention that I was featured in an iconic Las Culturistas podcast segment called I don't think so, Honey. I have not seen this yet, so you're seeing my reaction in real time. Queen Emma, the clip, please.
Las Culturistas Podcast Host
I don't think so, honey. Kylie Kelce is his wife. I thought she was their sister.
Asia Wilson
That's on you.
Las Culturistas Podcast Host
I thought Kylie Kelce was Travis and Jason's sister. And here's what happened. So I was leaving a hotel, and I walk past this girl and I'm like, oh, my God, that's Kylie kelsey. She's about 5, 6. And I say to Melissa, I'm like, I think that was Kylie Kelsey. She goes, no, no, no, she's tall. And I go, right, because that family is tall. And I go about my life thinking that that's their sister who has a podcast. That's the so disrespectful towards another podcaster. I don't think so, honey. Me, I need to know this. Like, pop culture is supposed to be something I know about and something I should know about. Other podcasts just. Kylie, I'm sorry. I disrespected.
Asia Wilson
Please, come on.
Kylie Kelce
So many thoughts. First of all, the fact that you said my name one time. Humbling experience. The fact that you said it multiple times is actually tripping me out. You said my name. What? Okay, next. I do appreciate that it was not that you think that we look like siblings. That I don't think that that point was made anywhere in your minute of your segment, which I can appreciate because that would have freaked me out. I would have. I love his desire to not disrespect a fellow podcaster. If we're calling me that. I know that. To be clear, I know I have a podcast. I would not describe myself as a podcaster because I think that's insulting to other podcasters. I would love to go on Las Culturistas. Maybe we can have Bowen and Matt on NGL sometime. Maybe you guys want to come over here and chit chat. I will say, I think if since Jennifer Lawrence is sitting in your guest seat, first of all, dragging her into the mess that is that segment with me involved. I'm so sorry to her that we. That I. That my name or any thoughts about me wasted your time. I would like this to end in an apology from me. I don't think so, honey.
Asia Wilson
Me.
Kylie Kelce
I don't think so, honey. That I should take up any space in your brain. And I'm sorry that I wasted it. Also, I would just like to point out that I, to be fair, say this all the time. Kylie. Kelsey. Not a great name. It's not a great name. So I do. I would just like to point out that you thought that I was given that name from birth. Kylie Kelsey. No, no, I. I'm a McDevitt that fell face first into the Kelsey last name. So I swiped my way into that one. Oh, God, that's bad. All right, that does it for Doom scroll of the Week, brought to you by Peloton. Moving on, a brand new edition of Places Kylie has no business being. Recently, I had the pleasure of having absolutely no business hosting a panel for Malala on her Finding My Way book tour stop in Philly. And it was tremendous. It was incredible. My initial reaction to hearing that Malala wanted me to moderate was disbelief. That's the easiest way to say it. I had some words about it that. I mean, full disclosure. I said, are you kidding me? You're kidding. You're joking. That's a joke. You're kidding me. I read Malala's first book, I Am Malala, when I was in college. Our school had a very deeply rooted emphasis on what they called engagement for the common good. And there was a lot of looking at international affairs and what was happening across the globe and. And different social justice issues so that we could more find a deeper understanding for them. And Malala was Part of those conversations because of her emphasis on women in Arab countries seeking their education. And because of that, when I got the email asking if I would be interested, I could not compute that. So I said yes and then proceeded to get very, very nervous about making sure that I was going to live up to an expectation that I think comes along with Malala's professionalism, her intelligence, her wit, all of it. And she was incredible. I'm so grateful to Malala. It was so amazing to meet her and her husband and her entire team. I'm so grateful that they thought that I was qualified to do this. It was incredible. And at the end of the day, we got her to say go Birds. Did say if you didn't have an answer, you could say, yeah. We got a chance to chat before we went out onto stage and I did compliment her on her usage of green attire and then proceeded to tell her that if there was ever a lull or a question that was a little too open ended, feel free to hit them with a Go Birds and you'll have them right back on your side. She didn't even need it, obviously, because every time someone asks, asked a question, she was right on it. Gave an outstanding response. And we also closed out the show and the only way Philly knows how. That's right. Bringing the people together. It's beautiful. What? Talk about unity, you know, bringing the people together and all of this. Like I said, we got to spend time beforehand backstage. I did spend some of that time convincing her to come to an Eagles game. So now that she's said Go Birds and practiced an Eagles chant, I feel like she's a shoe in to be cheering on the Birds with us. And I love that. Thank you to Malala and her team. It was a truly memorable experience that I feel like I had no business participating in, but I am so incredibly grateful that I had that opportunity. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Please check out Malala's new book, Finding My Way. It is definitely something you will not be able to put down. That's it for places Kylie has no business being. Coming up, Asia Wilson is joining me. But first, a couple messages from me about my favorite things, starting with Olipop. A lot of people ask me how I'm able to do this podcast. My new series, fafo, be a mom to four kids, a wife, a coach and occasional panel moderator, EAF event organizer. And the answer is. Guys, I don't know either. I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing. But what I do know is I cherish the few moments I do have to myself each day and sometimes I even fill them with an ice cold delicious Olipop. Are you kidding? My go to flavor is root beer. It's delicious. Sometimes I even say it's Olipop o'.
Asia Wilson
Clock.
Kylie Kelce
Yeah, I'm not the only one that says that. Olipop is a pause in a can. It gives a moment in my day that feels good, tastes good, and does good all at once. It supports your gut with 6 to 9 grams of fiber with less than 5 grams of sugar. It's something you can grab without thinking twice. And Olipop's got a great deal here. I am in the presence of greatness to a degree that I cannot explain.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
This is incredible.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
First of all, thank you so much. Speaking of your sneakers, these are stunning. Thank you. Yeah, I do. I am going to show the shoe because I. I'm. I'm very excited. Like, are you kidding me? Are you kidding? Look at that.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah, the candy corns.
Kylie Kelce
Thank you so much for sending me some. I will now make it my mission to. I don't know, ball at all.
Asia Wilson
Come on. You got it.
Kylie Kelce
I am. My dad tried really hard. He cemented the hoop in the backyard and everything.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah.
Kylie Kelce
And I went the wrong direction. I went down instead of up. To be fair, I don't know that I'm cool enough to play basketball.
Asia Wilson
Well, you have a ones now, so you are definitely cool enough now.
Kylie Kelce
I'm gonna try.
Asia Wilson
Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
That's what I'm saying. Now I can ball.
Asia Wilson
Yeah, for sure.
Kylie Kelce
I'm rooting for you. I might need you to offer some tips.
Asia Wilson
It's okay because.
Kylie Kelce
Because as many times as my dad told me to get my hands up, I shot from my chest every time. So there's that.
Asia Wilson
We can work on that. We're good. We can work. That's. That's an easy fix. Honestly.
Kylie Kelce
Done.
Asia Wilson
That's easy.
Kylie Kelce
I do think I might be decent at defense. Okay.
Asia Wilson
That's what wins games.
Kylie Kelce
And I love defense because that was my position in hockey, field hockey. I was. I was deep D. So defense I have deep roots in, and I think I could just get my hands up.
Asia Wilson
That's it.
Kylie Kelce
And stick with them.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah.
Kylie Kelce
We're good.
Asia Wilson
We're in there. That's perfect. Like, you had me scared for a moment. You're good.
Kylie Kelce
No, I'm in. I'm almost six feet tall. I'm five' eleven. Check, check.
Asia Wilson
Okay. You're checking out the boxes for me. I'm sold. All you needed was shoes, and you got them. So we're good.
Kylie Kelce
Thank you. Now, Dawn Staley, your former coach in South Carolina, came on this show a couple months ago and said that you were, and I quote, the best player in the world. And I've been so excited to talk to you about that. How do you react when you see quotes like that from Dawn?
Asia Wilson
I mean, from her, it's like an eye opener because Coach Taylor really picks and choose when she wants to give compliments. So I have to really, like, take them as a grain of salt because they don't really come often. A lot. She's normally just giving me the criticism that I need to fuel me, but that just means a lot. Honestly. Like, Coach Daley believed in me when no one else did. When I didn't, she sat in gyms and just watched. A little girl that didn't know how to play basketball. Just love the sport and love being around her teammates. So it's pretty cool to just, like, have her say those things because she literally helped mold me into the best player ever in the world. Um, and so it's pretty a big moment for us to share. I think she doesn't understand how much she has been a vital piece into how I am and who I am as a player. So I'm grateful to just hear her say those things because I know I got on her nerves a lot for four years. Uh, so it's pretty cool.
Kylie Kelce
I talked to her about doing TikToks with her players now. Does that surprise you?
Asia Wilson
Yes, because she's. No, she's gotten soft. It's ridiculous how soft she's gotten. Because one, when we were in school, we couldn't have phones on game days. We couldn't, like, we had to literally spend a whole day without our phone. Like, go to classes, like, live a normal life without a phone. Like, excuse me. We couldn't have social media. Did I remember her calling me Charmin because she was like, oh, you're just soft. Like, sec needs to rough you up. And I'm like, now you're Charmin. These kids got you doing TikToks. You're dancing. She's wiggling those knees of hers. Like, I'm just like, who are you? Like, who is this lady? So, yeah, she's gotten a little soft around the edges. And she always like, oh, I'm from North Philly. Like, I don't cry. I don't do any of this. And then I look on my phone and I'm like, look at her crying on national television. So, yeah, she's Sherman now. She's the new Sherman now.
Kylie Kelce
As a lifelong Philadelphia resident, I did also talk to dawn about the WNBA team in Philly, which we are, of course getting 20, 30. So I have five years to do this, but I'm going to start Right now, how can I recruit you to Philadelphia?
Asia Wilson
Okay. Yeah. Gonna have to plug my agent here.
Kylie Kelce
Sure. Perfect.
Asia Wilson
You just give me some time. I mean, the city.
Kylie Kelce
We do. We have. Yeah, we have so much time.
Asia Wilson
That's always a plus. But, yeah, let me get. Let me get the wheels turning a little bit.
Kylie Kelce
Perfect.
Asia Wilson
We can, like. We can maybe reconsider some things. It's a fight with Vegas, though. Yeah, that's.
Kylie Kelce
Good.
Asia Wilson
Luck with that.
Kylie Kelce
That's a fight I actually don't want to get into. Yeah, that's a scary fight right there.
Asia Wilson
I don't know.
Kylie Kelce
It does worry me a little bit. But I will tell you just. Just so that I can. I can set the scene for you. Our food scene. Outstanding.
Asia Wilson
Okay.
Kylie Kelce
I will tell you, the passion from fans in Philadelphia.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah.
Kylie Kelce
Is unmatched.
Asia Wilson
Yeah. I've seen that's. It's different. It's very different.
Kylie Kelce
It's. I will say, on the receiving end from visiting teams, negative feedback from people who have joined us. 10 out of 10 big fans. They're big fans of our fans.
Asia Wilson
Okay.
Kylie Kelce
We pour it all into it. We really. We love. Love people who ride for us.
Asia Wilson
Yes. Well, I love that part of the W team that's coming.
Kylie Kelce
Yeah. No, we will be so in. And I'm gonna play the long game here to get the best in the world to Philadelphia. So I will revisit this topic. I'm gonna see if. Connect with dawn on this. We could get you in an Eagles jersey. I'm just saying.
Asia Wilson
Okay.
Kylie Kelce
Yeah.
Asia Wilson
And if I don't, I. At least I'm going there to play, so I'll at least be there.
Kylie Kelce
And I'm sorry.
Asia Wilson
Yeah. I don't know if they're like me, but it's okay.
Kylie Kelce
No, no, I'm sorry. Let me get ahead of that right now, because it's not good. It's actually very bad.
Asia Wilson
Okay. Yeah, we can work.
Kylie Kelce
And I say that being one of them. Well, for now, you're in Vegas with the Aces.
Asia Wilson
Yes.
Kylie Kelce
So I will respect that. And I saw you recently celebrated the championship win.
Asia Wilson
Yes.
Kylie Kelce
I tagged along to an Eagle super bowl parade, so I've seen some of this stuff up close. How rowdy did it get on that bus?
Asia Wilson
Ooh. Okay. Yeah, it got really rowdy. Only because our bus driver was, like, going 70 miles per hour.
Kylie Kelce
Oh.
Asia Wilson
Unless I was up there dreaming. But we were zooming through that parade. Like, zooming. And so we were really, like, trying to turn up, but also scared for our lives because, like, I'm having the trophy in My hand. I got my Thanos glove. Like, we're trying to look good. Like, you know, we turning up. All of a sudden, it's like. Like we are torn it downtown. Like, our bus driver was like, woo, I love the Aces. Zoom. I was like, whoa, we want to still be the Aces, honey. When we get off.
Kylie Kelce
I would like to just reference an outstanding super cut of you at your championship press conference. Should we roll the clip, Queen Emma?
Asia Wilson
Let's reel it in now, guys. Right here. Let's reel it in. 23. Go on the run. Go back to.
Kylie Kelce
Nancy Armour, USA Today Sports. This is for Becky and for Chelsea. These are the ones that stuck so that burp. Hi, this question is for Chelsea. Chelsea, you get one off.
Asia Wilson
Adrian.
Kylie Kelce
Hi.
Asia Wilson
The parade is October 17th, Friday.
Kylie Kelce
Looking forward to it.
Asia Wilson
Who you want to see? I don't know who I want to see.
Kylie Kelce
I'm cool.
Asia Wilson
Yeah, Beyonce would be great at the bottom. That's in this.
Kylie Kelce
Okay. I have so many questions.
Asia Wilson
Me too.
Kylie Kelce
Do you remember sitting at this press conference?
Asia Wilson
First of all, yes, perfect. Yes, I do.
Kylie Kelce
Okay. Now, did I hear. Did I hear correctly? Someone at the beginning saying, let's get it together.
Asia Wilson
Yeah, me. Yeah. That was something that I didn't do, was get. Get it together. And it's crazy because before every championship parade, I mean, press conference, Chelsea will pull me aside and be like, asha, let's lock in. And I'm like, I got you. Like, bro. I got you. Professionalism at his finest right here. Because, like, I've learned. I've learned from the other, like, press conference. First press conference, cut me some slack. Never been there before. I was lit. Second, back to back. Never did it before. Give me some slack. This one. I said, all right, let me tighten up. But my eyes were not saying that. So Chelsea was like, put your goggles on when no one's talking to you. And I said, you're right. So in my mind, I was like, that'll help. Yeah. I'm like, when I put these goggles on, they do not see me. Like, the camera was supposed to pan, like, to someone else, but it didn't. It stayed on me. And I'm like, that's not what I asked for.
Kylie Kelce
Do you think it had anything to do with tambourine?
Asia Wilson
The tambourine was just. It did the speaking. It was supposed to speak for me. Once again, I was not. I was off the work there.
Kylie Kelce
The only thing that would have made that better, if you started checking behind yourself to be like, what are you guys looking at?
Asia Wilson
What is it? My goosebumps. I'm not here.
Kylie Kelce
I am invisible. It was outstanding.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
You did amazing.
Asia Wilson
Thank you. I'm glad I got.
Kylie Kelce
The only thing that'll make it better is when you go for four and somehow top yourself.
Asia Wilson
Somehow. It never fails.
Kylie Kelce
If you could. Please. I'm just gonna float this one out there. I'm gonna knock on wood because I'm a very superstitious person. I don't want to jinx you. Going. Going on your mission.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
We'll leave it that broad. I think the tambourine is the perfect segue to a full drum set. I'm just going to throw it out there. I think if someone wheels you in a drum set, that that would be.
Asia Wilson
That could be clean.
Kylie Kelce
Outstanding.
Asia Wilson
Yeah, I like that. I like.
Kylie Kelce
Consider it instrument every time we can manifest it. I just think you need to go bigger. Bigger.
Asia Wilson
I know. Tambourine did enough.
Kylie Kelce
No, I think it did. I know. I think it was perfect. But if you. If you guys go for four drums and you do it, I just think it was the perfect. Lean into a drum set, full drum.
Asia Wilson
Like that idea.
Kylie Kelce
Just consider it. Just consider it. Good. Yeah. If anyone needs help getting that taken care of, I'll. I will volunteer.
Asia Wilson
Yes. Perfect. We know where to go. We got you. We're here.
Kylie Kelce
I just can't wait for someone to be like, who is that woman wheeling in a drum set? It's going to be me. It will be me.
Asia Wilson
Once again, I'll be. Wear your goggles. No one will know you're perfect. That's the ticket.
Kylie Kelce
My invisibility cloak goggles.
Asia Wilson
No one will know you brought it in. They're like this. And who's pushing these drums? Wow.
Kylie Kelce
Those drums are moving by themselves. That's perfect. I'm doing it. Please do that. Let's do it. And since we're playing clips, I just saw your dance in Jennifer Hudson's spirit tunnel.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah.
Kylie Kelce
South Carolina. Come on and raise up. Yes. You killed that.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
You really did.
Asia Wilson
Thank you.
Kylie Kelce
That's. That's the first point. Second point. I cannot get over how many comments. Are people shocked about you being tall?
Asia Wilson
Yeah, I didn't get that either. I'm like, did people not understand one. What I do for a living?
Kylie Kelce
Guys, do you. Do you not understand basketball?
Asia Wilson
Like.
Kylie Kelce
Do you. Are people often surprised at how tall you are?
Asia Wilson
Yes, I actually get that.
Kylie Kelce
Okay. Really?
Asia Wilson
Like, when I take pictures of people, they're like, whoa, you're tall. And I'm like, did you think I was going to be your Height. Like, did you think. You think I was going to be especially like men?
Kylie Kelce
Did you think I was going to be this good?
Asia Wilson
Yeah. They're like, whoa, you are tall. And it's like, yeah. Like, it's very much.
Kylie Kelce
How's the weather down there?
Asia Wilson
I'm like, yeah, what did you think?
Kylie Kelce
So, yeah.
Asia Wilson
I'm always very shocked at how people are shocked that I'm tall. And I'm just like, do I not? Because I feel like I give tall. Like, when you see me play.
Kylie Kelce
You do.
Asia Wilson
I don't. It's not small, for sure. So I'm kind of like, what did you guys think I was, five, six?
Kylie Kelce
I will say I. I am frequently, I am within that interaction of I step to someone, like, next to someone, and they do the same. You're taller than I thought.
Asia Wilson
Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
And I'm like, I actually talk about being tall all the time.
Asia Wilson
Right.
Kylie Kelce
Literally all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've talked about that. Whenever I put on a pair of pants, it looks like a flood's coming.
Asia Wilson
Hello taught.
Kylie Kelce
I yell it from the rooftops. Yeah. And still people are like, wow, Right? Huh?
Asia Wilson
It's so weird. I'm like, you can literally Google my height and it's going to tell you. It's not going to lie.
Kylie Kelce
Now, I'd love to talk to you more about your legendary career. You just won Defensive Player of the Year.
Asia Wilson
Yes. Yes.
Kylie Kelce
So I think it's safe to say you can probably defend anyone. But who would you say is the toughest player to go up against?
Asia Wilson
Ooh, toughest player to go up against. I'm gonna always say Brianna Stewart. I'm always say Stewie, only because Stewie's just. She's a three level scorer. And the way that she plays the game is so tough to read because she's that skillful. And so sometimes when I'm thinking about just how to guard her, how to make it hard for her, because some players are like, okay, force it to their bad hand. You can live with it. But Stewie is completely different. Like, you really have to be able to know how and when she's going to score the basketball. And that's super, super tough. But I love it. I really love competing against Dewey because every time we play against each other, it is like blockbuster. Like some elite basketball that you're watching. And she makes me think every possession. And I love that because sometimes I get bored mid game just because of just the person that I am. I just get bored easily. But sometimes when you're guarding Stewie. You have to keep your head on a swivel because she's very locked in. Yeah, yeah, she's very guard, like, but then also she's tal. So, yeah, it's a. You get. Get the best of both worlds.
Kylie Kelce
Okay, we'll add her to the list of recruiting. Wouldn't that be fun if you guys could play together? You don't have to go up against her. I'm just gonna throw that one out there again. Just circling back a little. Yep. Is there a team or player besides Stewie that you feel you personally have done the most game planning for?
Asia Wilson
I'm trying to think of all the teams. I would say we always do a lot of game planning for the Seattle Storm. I feel like we're. That's a team that we're always pretty even with. Like, we're always going to see them in playoffs, like, no matter what. I feel like we run into them every single year. And then throughout the regular season, it's never really a butt cut. An ass whooping. They probably whooped our ass. I know they whooped our ass once, but it's always, like, just constant. Just butting of the heads every single year. It doesn't matter what roster that is there. It's always something. So I think we have to prep extra hard for them. And I think they're also a team that really has, like, three guards and two posts. Like, they really play the. Or like, the structure. The. The basketball structure, like, always the same way. And they're really good, and they have bets at each position. So I would say prepping for them is always, like, very tough.
Kylie Kelce
Well, real ones, somehow. It's already mid November, and even though I don't start decorating for the holidays until after Thanksgiving, I do sometimes start shopping for the girls earlier. And this year, I've got a secret weapon for hiding their presence. The trunk of my Toyota Sienna. I'm telling you, this thing goes on forever. And the best part is, is that it's deep, which means you can hide the stuff in the bottom, pop a coat over it or a blanket. They're never gonna know. You don't even have to cover it. I'm pretty sure that if I open the trunk, our kids still wouldn't be able to see it. As long as it's at the bottom of the trunk. That's how deep the trunk is. Do you know how much stuff you can fit in there? Presents for four kids. That's what you can fit in there. And it's not just the Toyota Sienna's trunk that in clutch. This holiday season, I'm always doing a lot more driving around this time of year. And that 36 miles per gallon means I won't constantly have to stop for gas. Which is a problem when kids are in the car. Because I'm telling you right now, the minute you put the car in park, everybody wants to get out. And when you don't, oh my gosh, run. If you're looking into the minivan life this holiday season, I highly recommend a nice Sienna test drive at your local Toyota dealership today. Women's basketball has of course grown exponentially. And like I mentioned in your intro, you're personally popular to the point your signature Nike shoes, the A1, sold out in under five minutes. Five minutes. What was your initial reaction to hearing that?
Asia Wilson
It's crazy because I tried to sleep through. Like I wanted to sleep through the alarm. Like I didn't set an alarm that day. I was like, I don't want to wake up when the shoe drops, I don't want to see anything about it. And so I purposely, like, just slept. I just was like, I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping. And then finally I like woke up and it was sold out. Of course, I woke up like four minutes after my. After the shoe drop just because I couldn't stand to sleep in. And when I saw it, I literally just started crying. Only because. Because I couldn't believe it. Like, this was something I could honestly say. The A1 was one of the most anticipating shoes that we've seen in a long, long time. And we had pop ups, like all over the country. And like people were camping out and waking up early, early, like, just to get in line. So it gave you the old school, like, I need to get this shoe type of feel. But when it got online for everyone to really buy, I was so nervous. And so when it sold out, I was just like bawling, crying because I could not believe that, like, finally this shoe is shared with the world. Like, finally everyone can see why it took so long and why we had to work so hard and kept it so close knit. But yeah, I was in tears because I just could not believe that people wanted the A1, which is crazy. But like, it's just that feel that you get.
Kylie Kelce
It's so funny because it's not even that people wanted it. It's that people were so excited to get it that they did exactly what you're saying. The old school shoe drop. Like, I need to there like, lying around the block situation.
Asia Wilson
Yes, yes.
Kylie Kelce
That's five minutes is like, that's insane.
Asia Wilson
Like, I literally, like, I really was just like, there's no way. Like, there's just no way. And then also for me, because pink is my favorite color, obviously that's why the first shoe is pink. But I was very worried about, like, is the consumer going to like, pink? Are they going to buy pink? Is it just going to be women? Like, are they going to know that this is a shoe for everybody? So there were like a bunch of things going off in my mind to where like my parents had to say, asia, just please calm down. Like, no one's thinking about what you're thinking right now. Like, they're just, they're going to want to buy the shoe because they want to buy the shoe point blank.
Kylie Kelce
Yes.
Asia Wilson
And like, I had to realize that. And then once I got over that, I was like, oh, they do want a pink shoe. I was like, yes, we painted the town pink.
Kylie Kelce
Now speaking of the pink shoe. One of the amazing images that I saw of other players wearing the A1 was Bam.
Asia Wilson
Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
He wore them in a game back in February before the A1's official release. What did it feel like to be able to see not only your shoe.
Asia Wilson
Yeah. Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
But also having the support. Yeah. Of someone like that. What. What did that feel like?
Asia Wilson
It was amazing. Like, it was a feeling that I. It didn't really hit me until I went to the game and I saw him in them because I gave him the shoe like a couple of days before. And I don't ever pressure Bam to. I'm not like, wear these on this day and rock em. Like, I never do that. I'm like, dude, do your own thing. Like, thank you for even having them, obviously, but just do your thing. So I didn't know he was going to wear them that game. So when I got to the. To the arena and see him warm up, I was just like, oh, my God. Like, it just. It kind of shook my heart a little bit because I'm just like, dang. Like, these shoes aren't even out. And the first person to wear them is my boyfriend. Like, the first person that has really, like, playing in them and like, on the NBA platform. Like, this is huge. And I mean, he's sat in on meetings, he's been with me every step of the way. So he's a piece of the journey as well. So for him to kind of get a chance to wear it and rock it, obviously it made my heart so happy. His support is unwavering. Like, it's incredible the way that he can constantly show up for me in the midst of everything that he has going on. So it was super cool. I was like, dang. Like, my shoe is on the NBA court. Like, he got to wear it before me. That was when I was a little salty, but I was like, all right, if anyone. If anyone. It can be.
Kylie Kelce
If anyone gets a free pass here, that's fine. You can have it.
Asia Wilson
It'll be because I was like, you're wearing them before me. Like, I don't know how I feel about that. And he was like, oh, you know, sorry. Like, like, no. But he was trying to play it off, knowing. Probably knowing. He was like, I'm wearing these tomorrow. So, yeah, it was pretty cool.
Kylie Kelce
That's incredible. Now, I talked about this recently, but I think relationships between athletes feel like safe space. And I will say this, as in, like, me calling myself an athlete to you is a very generous take. So just let's Throw that one out there. But I. Being with my husband and enjoying, like, athletics together, enjoying athletics separately, understanding, like, being coachable and working with a team and all the things that go into, like, team sport and being an athlete. Do you find that in your own relationship?
Asia Wilson
Yes, absolutely. I think it just. It's so, like, rewarding that after a game or just when you're going through, like, slumps in your season that you know that your partner fully understands it, like, 100%. There's times where after a game, I just sit in the car and Bam's just like, I know. And it's like, just sometimes, like, just to hear that you're like, oh, my God, thank you. Like, I don't have to explain myself or I don't have to show up and just be your girlfriend right here on the spot. Like, you understand that it's tough right now. It's hard right now. And I may not. I may can't put into words, but you know exactly what I mean. And I think that is the beautiful thing with our relationship is just like, I know. Like, I get you. I've been in these moments on my own platform, but now, like, for you, I definitely know the feeling. And it doesn't get, like, talked about enough, obviously, because we don't really share that out loud. But, like, those moments, just athlete to athlete versus just. And it can be boyfriend, girlfriend, but athlete to athlete is kind of like you're sitting in your own personal locker room, and you can just constantly just bounce stuff off. And Bam would be the first person to say, girl, you tripping. Like, you. You tripping. That ain't. That ain't got nothing to do with what you talking about. Like, that's on you. And sometimes I need to hear that. A lot of times I need to hear that. So it's pretty cool to have that relationship.
Kylie Kelce
Now, the other thing. The other side of being with an athlete is the competitive nature. Do you guys find that you compete.
Asia Wilson
Every day, all day? Like, it is sickening.
Kylie Kelce
Like, it's more fun that way.
Asia Wilson
It is. I'm like. I'm like, dude, I'm just trying to go to the. I'm just trying to go to the refrigerator. And so, yeah, it is. It's very competitive. And it's actually scary how competitive it is because we. We do escape rooms in our, like, off time just. Cause we just like to keep the wheels going. And sometimes I'm like, hey, Bam, we're on the same team. So, like, I get that you found that hit first, but We. We're on the same team, dude. Like, it's okay.
Kylie Kelce
We're both trying to get out of here.
Asia Wilson
We're both trying to get out of here, so. And then here I go. I'm like, all right. But he found out. Cool. Let me go find one before him. And I'm like, oh, my God. I'm doing it, A.J. like, I'm like, reel it in. Come on. So, yeah, it's very competitive. Very competitive.
Kylie Kelce
Is there something in particular that you guys are, like, regularly competitive about? Mm.
Asia Wilson
I'll have to say. We have our Nintendo switches that we play pretty often, and we play the Mario Kart racing game. Sure. And when I tell you that dictates what type of day we're having, it dictates today. Like, I know sometimes Bam's like, let me let her win, because I'm just trying to get through the day. Like, I'm just trying. I'm just trying to get through that.
Kylie Kelce
Trying to have an easy one today. Let me let her have it. Yeah.
Asia Wilson
And I think that's what we kind of do on a normal basis. It's just little games just like that.
Kylie Kelce
That I'm like, yeah, this is my husband, and I. I don't know if you've ever played Settlers of Catan.
Asia Wilson
Oh, no, it sounds good.
Kylie Kelce
It's a board game, and there's. There's a. You can play a version on your phone. We're not allowed to play that anymore.
Asia Wilson
I get it. I get it.
Kylie Kelce
We're not allowed.
Asia Wilson
I get it. I get it. Bam and I used to play dominoes on our phone, and it's like, I had to just delete it. I'm like, yes, let's just give it up.
Kylie Kelce
Yeah. Yeah. There's. There's a. A robber in the game that you can, like, put on someone's space so that they no longer. To, like, get points, we'll say. Or, like, resources that would piss me off. Like, it was like he would hand the phone back, and he wouldn't look at me, and I'd be like, you.
Asia Wilson
You already know what happened. You're like, ooh.
Kylie Kelce
Huh? He wouldn't look at me. He would just go like this and pass it sideways, and I'd be like, did you?
Asia Wilson
Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
Oh, we're not allowed to. We're legitimately not allowed to play anymore.
Asia Wilson
I get it. I get it. I, I. I get it. It's bad. Yeah.
Kylie Kelce
It's not good, and.
Asia Wilson
But it's okay. It's what makes the relationship great. I mean, I feel like the competitiveness is like, what thrives the most in our relationship. It keeps us on our toes. Because I'm like, I'm not going down without a fight. You didn't lose.
Kylie Kelce
We're just done playing the game. No, it's. It. It adds a little spark, you know, very quickly circling back to the W because the league is growing so much. It's also bringing a lot more revenue.
Asia Wilson
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Kylie Kelce
And something I did cover on the show previously was you and all the WNBA All Stars making a statement with the pay us what you owe us T shirts. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I did mention, when we talked about this on the show, big fafo energy. And if you don't know what that is, is around, find out. It's fuck around, find out energy. I like it. That's allowing people who have fucked around to indeed find out. We love that for them.
Asia Wilson
We love that. Absolutely.
Kylie Kelce
You've said it before. The players are standing on business, which I also love. For anyone who isn't up to speed, can you explain in basic terms what the players want to see accomplished?
Asia Wilson
Yeah. I think the biggest thing that we're trying to see accomplishes, like you said, this has been a big year for us, a big last couple years for the W. And I think when you looking at social or anything, it's just like, okay, the value's going up, Everything's going up. I mean, we getting these TV deals. And so when you're thinking about that, you're like, okay, well, let's talk revenue share. Let's talk about that and how we can implement into our salaries. Because when you look around and you think about businesses, the biggest thing is the revenue share. Like, if this is going up, the players and the product is going up, and we're showing up every single day, our wallet should be doing the same. And so when you're talking about just seeing that, I think the league is growing. And so for us, we have to sustain that by just getting, excuse me, equitable compensation. And I think that is so key. And that's what we're really just talking about, is making sure that we're just united and understanding and letting the league understand that we're not going anywhere. We've earned everything that we have been fighting for. We are valuable, and we're going to continue to show up as that. And I think that is what makes our league so powerful, is that we know the power of our voice and our platform, and we're not going to stop until we get what we deserve. But to see It. And then to hear what they're saying and it doesn't add up. I think that's what's going to continue for us to not back down. Because we see a lot of things going on in the talks of our league and other leagues. They're growing, and it's like, well, if they see that we're worth the buck, why can't our own league see it? And so it's going to take time, as we know, and it is taking time right now, but we're gonna continue to stand on business for what we believe in and what we deserve.
Kylie Kelce
Now, what's the biggest misconception you often hear about this whole conversation?
Asia Wilson
Oh, that we just wanna get paid like the guys. I hate when people say that. And granted, I'm not a numbers girl. I'm not at all. I'm far from that. But I think the biggest thing is just meeting the fair agreement of what we are discussing. It's never what the NBA is doing. It's never, oh, we want. Pay them what. What we. What they got. No, we understand that that's not how the business works, but we also understand that we're missing within our own business. The revenue share is missing in our own business and in our. In our own checks. So I think people need to stop thinking about that way and just think more so of like, okay, yes, they are saying, pay them what they deserve and what you owe.
Kylie Kelce
I think it's so important to. To not only stand up for this change for you guys, but also it's showing young women that as a unit. Yes. Of the women representing the W, that you guys are able to say, no, we're. We're not going to accept less. I think it's crazy that the reports are coming out to show, like you said, the TV deals and the different things that are coming in at a significantly higher level, exponentially higher level than they have been in the past with the previous deal. And so to see that they're not willing to increase those percentages for you guys is absolutely insane.
Asia Wilson
Yeah. And it is. And I think also people don't understand is like, we're working to. To get a cba. That's not just necessarily for the ones that are planning it now. We're talking about the ones that are coming after us, like, making sure that they have. They don't have to go through what we're going through. And I think people don't understand that. And yes, we talk about salary, but at the same time, just having a good workspace to play in, like, a lot of teams don't even have practice facilities. And it's just like, I'm blessed enough. Oh, my goodness. I know I'm blessed enough to have an owner and a franchise that are really player forward. They're like, what do they need? And we were the first. Yeah, I think we were one of the first WNBA teams to have a practice facility. And people wonder, oh, well, what makes the Aces great? And why. Why are they so great? And why are they constantly in the conversations? Because we have exactly what we need, and we don't have to come into work thinking and wondering, oh, is this gonna work or what? We're. Now I have to drive and share this court with people like, no, like, we don't have that problem. And so now it's kind of like making others owners or anyone else like. Like, put your money where your mouth is and give us what we need. Not, yes, what we deserve, but what we need. And so, yeah, we. There's a lot of work that needs to be done. But, yeah, I think that's what people really also don't understand is like, yes, we're fighting now, but it's not just fighting for us. And I check, I'm fighting for the young athletes that's coming up behind me.
Kylie Kelce
I also think that's so important to acknowledge the fact that the leadership that have the ability to maybe make sure that there is a specific practice facility or to make sure that the players have everything that they need, that they have bought into the W in a way that they have put a. A level of importance right on this league and the women in it. And so it is exactly what you're saying. Put the money where your mouth is, is support these athletes the way that you, as ownership or as leadership in this league should be prioritizing the athletes.
Asia Wilson
Absolutely. 100% agree.
Kylie Kelce
I cannot thank you enough for coming on. It has been an absolute pleasure to get to talk to you. And I always like to say this to women who are paving the way. I. With someone, as someone who has four daughters in their house, I am so grateful that they have someone like you to look up to and to see how hard you are working, your drive, your dedication to your sport, the way that you sort of present yourself, even when it's having fun in a press conference. I love that those are the examples that my girls have out in the world. So I really appreciate you and everything that you're doing.
Asia Wilson
Thank you so much. You're amazing, too. Like, you are unapologetic and we need a lot more women like that in this world to not be afraid to be that way. And honestly, every video I see of you, I'm like, that's right. Like, I just. I can't help myself. I'm like, that's right. Like, stand on it. So I. I'm a huge fan, and I can't thank you enough for.
Kylie Kelce
Thank you so much.
Asia Wilson
Like, I love that. Like, you are truly you, and we don't see a lot of people being that in these faces, so thank you so much.
Kylie Kelce
No, thank you. And I can't wait to see you in Philly. Hopefully it's representing them, but you never know.
Asia Wilson
At least you know, we'll be. I'll be there, whether I'm on that side or not. At least I'm there in the summer.

Ep. 44: Kylie & A’ja Wilson on Jason's Bday Thirst Trap, Being The Cool Aunt & Recruiting The G.O.A.T.
Release Date: November 13, 2025
Host: Kylie Kelce
Guest: A'ja Wilson (WNBA MVP, Las Vegas Aces)
This episode is a high-energy blend of Kylie’s hilarious storytelling and sharp commentary on life as a Kelce, modern parenting, social media trends, and women in sports. The highlight is a candid and joyful conversation with WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson, who joins Kylie to discuss everything from winning championships and launching her signature sneaker to equal pay in women’s sports and the art of being fiercely competitive (and a cool aunt).
The show is candid, witty, and fiercely supportive of women. Kylie’s humor, self-awareness, and Philly frankness create the backbone, matched by A’ja’s relaxed, insightful, and passionate commentary. Both celebrate the joys and chaos of life in the spotlight, competition, and the power of standing up for what’s right.
