Welcome back to the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. I'm your host, Amanda Hirsch, and I still can't believe that I get to chat with some of my favorite stars on my very own podcast, where you'll feel like you're just talking shit with your best friends in your living room. Hello. Happy Tuesday. Welcome back to Not Skinny But Not Fat. I am Amanda, your. Your beloved host, the host you're obsessed with. No. Just kidding. How's everybody? I hope everyone had a good weekend, a good Father's Day. I am just gonna, I posted a Father's Day funny Father's Day reel, I think. Funny. Some people were like, oh, poor thing. And I'm like, no, I'm actually fine. It is funny because people with our dads, if they had like, a shitty dad, a deadbeat dad, I, I guess it's different if the dad died, but people think, like, that's daddy issues. And then if you have, like, a healthy marriage to look up to, like parents that were together your whole life and like a good father, then that means automatically you don't have daddy issues. Now, I have to tell you that from my experience and people I've seen around me, it's not true. I swear. These, like, I made good choices in men, like, my whole life, I swear. And, and I don't even have, like, fear of abandonment. Like, I, I, I didn't, I didn't get that. It might be ingrained somewhere else, the daddy issues. Like, I, I don't know where, but definitely not. Like, I don't, like, never went for older men, never went for toxic guys, never had a fear of abandonment. Like, so I don't have daddy issues, weirdly. And I do know friends that have seen Marri kind of have, like a reverse daddy issues. Like, nobody's good enough parents. Marriage is like the Holy Grail. They, like, hate their husband because their husband can't deliver what their dad delivered. And, and other stuff. Like, I just feel like I don't know the exact psychology about it. But daddy issues isn't always like, you don't have a dad. You're fucked up. You know what I mean? Especially if in my situation, like, my mom made up for it fucking tenfold. Like, my mom was the best mom, the best dad, and over delivered on all of that and gave me the, like, if I had a dad, I would be less confident, less of who I am today. Do you know what I mean? Like, it's because not this in, it's an in. Spite or despite? It's in spite to look that up. Me having a dad that I'm. If I had a dad, I'd be insecure. Do you get what I mean? Like, I just feel like, thank God I didn't have a dad because my mom told me how beautiful and great and talented and smart and whatever I was. And if I did have a dad, maybe that wouldn't be the case. Or maybe, I mean, if I had my dad, that wouldn't be the case. By the way, he is alive. He's just a deadbeat. And I. It's funny, I used to swear on him all the time when I was little. Like, I had a sense of humor about it since I was little. Like, I. Obviously I'm not swearing today. When I was, you know, 11, I used to be like, I swear on my dad. And I was like, I don't care if, like you guys do. You know what I mean? So it is dark. But I used to have someone to swear on and lie about it. So lucky me. I really took the. The. Oh, my God, the kids screaming is insane. Anyway, that kind of relates into today's pod in a way. Talking about parenting and being a mom and being a dad and moms and dads and all that. Because about a couple weeks ago, I saw that Jenny Mullen was trending on Threads. I like, went on to Threads, which could be Threads Havoc. Okay? Threads equals havoc. Like, it started all innocent. And now I, when I go into Threads is because, like, wild shit is happening on there. And I see, like, Jenny Mullen, Yellow Arrow trending. I'm like, what did she do this, like, crazy be. I texted her. I was like, jenny, what happened? She's like, oh, my God. Like, you didn't see. So anyway, found out what had happened. Jenny posted a photo that people got very pissed about and she's here to talk about it today. We get into it and I think it's an important conversation. I also think that if you know Jenny Mullen, you know that she's a. She could be a wackadoo, but she has a big heart and she's a great mom and a great writer and she's funny. Like, she's not doing stand up comedy, but, like, her whole brand is being funny and saying funny things and talking about parenting in that way. She recently went through divorce with Jason. I was gonna say Sudeikis. The shows. We're close, guys. No, we are with Jason Biggs. So lots happening in her life and she's here to talk about Her.
A
I follow her because, like, gross.
B
Jenny.
A
Should I unfollow?
B
Unfollow. Okay.
A
I just comment.
B
I do this to people. I literally make people. I'm like, open your eyes, Jenny.
A
Amanda, you're back. My birthday twin.
B
Is this the second or third time you've.
A
I mean, I don't know. We've had so many of these.
B
We've had a lot. I called you on, too, when you had me to your, like.
A
Well, yeah, because before Dear Media could, like, make us a nice place, we were podcasting, like, you know, out of the backs of cars.
B
Yeah. How are you?
A
Is that gonna make the pod?
B
Yeah, yeah. Dear Media loves a shout out.
A
Her.
B
No, no. Dear Media loves a shout out.
A
Okay.
B
Whatever kind.
A
Any kind.
B
Any kind of shout out.
A
Press is good press.
B
Well, I was like, you need to come on the pod. Because I wake up one morning and, I mean, I saw the news about you and Jason, but literally the arrow on threads was like, jenny Mullen trending. Yeah.
A
You called me. You're like, what did you do now?
B
Like, why are you trending?
A
What?
B
And the first thing I said was, like, congrats, babe. Like, getting the fucking yellow highlighted arrow.
A
You're crushing your life. It doesn't matter for what, but you're trending.
B
You're trending on threads. Well, let's go back. How are you?
A
I'm good.
B
You're good?
A
Yes, I'm good. I mean, good. Read between the lines.
B
I mean, somehow you're like. You do always, like, smile through it all, I feel like.
A
And make sense. I'm resilient.
B
Yeah, you are resilient.
A
And I think comedy is just, like,
B
my coping mechanism of the craziness.
A
Just like, yeah, life. I feel like if I can't laugh at it, like, I definitely want to have a death. That's funny. You know what I mean? Like, it needs to be a good story.
B
A death. Like you.
A
I mean, even in death, I want it to be like.
B
Like how you've about it.
A
Yeah. I want to, like, have them be like, no, you're kidding. Of course. That's how Jenny goes.
B
You know what I mean? Well, I don't know. You're Jewish, so I can't, like. I feel like we're too superstitious to talk about.
A
All right, let's not. Let's avoid that.
B
You know what I mean? I'm like a knock on wood.
A
It's maybe my mom. Because my mom's a shika. I can.
B
Right? That's true.
A
I can straddle that line.
B
Well, you announce your divorce?
A
Yes. Well, no, I didn't announce my divorce.
B
I got like, okay. You told him why? To post it?
A
No. Did you not know?
B
I thought you gave birthday exclusive.
A
No.
B
I know.
A
You called me and said that.
B
I did. I can't keep up with me.
A
Yeah.
B
Oh, you didn't give her the exclusive?
A
No.
B
Did you take to your Instagram in the end and confirm you haven't done that?
A
No.
B
But there were headlines.
A
Yeah, there's like, a lot of headlines.
B
There are a lot of headlines.
A
It's not fun.
B
Are you thinking to talk about it at some point?
A
No. No, I don't think so.
B
I thought you were. I thought maybe, like, in your.
A
I mean, is it me? I would be talking about everything I say.
B
You will. You're trying to be respectful of all.
A
Yes.
B
Of all parties.
A
Yes.
B
Okay. Well, Jenny, it seems like you're currently single. I am.
A
I'm single. You're the first time in 18 years. Like, what is my life?
B
What does it feel like? Let me live vicariously through you.
A
It's surreal. Yeah. I feel like it's really bizarre because. Well, also, like, you have kids with somebody, right. So people will be like, oh, you're sick. You know, how does it feel? And I'm like, I don't know, like the same. Like, we live in two different places, but we're still tethered. We have kids. Like, we still talk 18 times a day about everyone's schedule and after school and holidays. And so there is, like this element of, like, it isn't like a normal breakup where you're like, see ya.
B
Right.
A
And then maybe we'll bump into each other in 10 years and talk about it. It's not like that.
B
It's just the end of the romantic part.
A
And it's still, like, romantic. I mean, I still. We still love each other. It's just not. I don't know, it's a different type of romance. It's like your best friend.
B
People took it hard, right?
A
Yes.
B
Because you are a couple. We're a couple.
A
Yeah.
B
That people would never. I don't think if they, you know, played bingo, they'd be like, this is a couple. I don't. I predict, well. Well, won't stay together. Right, Right. Were you getting DMs and.
A
No. That's the weirdest. That's the weirdest thing about going through something like this. And when you've been, like, in a public relationship is that, like, it doesn't feel. It's. It's not like a death where people just write you, or they're like, I'm so sorry. Do you need anything? It's. It's more like somebody's attending your wedding and you have to take care of everybody else. You're like, are you okay? Can I get you a drink? You know, people are like, I don't know how to feel. I'm so sad. And I'm just writing, like, I don't know you. I'm so sorry. Like, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm so deeply sorry.
B
Cause people want to believe. But you. I. People want to believe in love. And if people think that they know that this couple is a good one and a normal one, like, for Hollywood and for this, and they're like, this is not the couple that breaks up. You know, it. Like, it ruins dreams. You know what I mean? For, like, that's. That's where it's coming from. People want to. In love.
A
Yes. And it is. And we. We love each other and. And, like, it is a solid relationship. And, like, we have always been amazing. Co parents and like, teammates. It's just, you know, I don't know. I mean, you're married. You understand. I know hard.
B
I know I could. Yeah. It. I mean, marriage is. I mean, I don't like to say, like, it takes work, because that would be fake of me. Like, it takes more, like, patience.
A
Yeah.
B
Really. Whether it comes naturally. Naturally. That you are not learning how to, like, accept other person.
A
Yes.
B
Work with them. Work around them.
A
Like, regulating the room, keeping everybody else,
B
like, Mel Robbins, let them. Like, I've done that before her dead. I'm letting everybody. Let them. Let them.
A
You're letting me, right?
B
Yeah, I'm letting you, like, let them. Let them do. I'm not one of those, like, you know.
A
Yeah.
B
But I think at the end of the day, yeah, it's. It's.
A
You're not a codependent in that way
B
and not in that way. I am dependent in the way of, like, can you bring me. Can you pick me up? Can you wait for me outside?
A
Yes.
B
I'm dependent in the, like, literal sense.
A
Yes.
B
But how does it feel? Like, can you put my clothes on?
A
That's how I am with my assistant. Can you dress me?
B
No.
A
What am I wearing today?
B
No, we need to talk about your. So, yeah, my husband is a little bit of my assistant, I would say, too.
A
Well.
B
And he's okay with that.
A
I love an assistant.
B
You love any kind of assistant.
A
I'm just like. I think, like, my ideal partner is like. Yeah. Like, somebody who's just gonna, like, sit in a dark room and read everything I've ever written, tell me how amazing I am, give me all the things that, like, I didn't have as a child.
B
What can you talk about in terms of how you're feeling now being single? Like, are you embracing that part yet or are you still, like, focusing on the kid, the kids?
A
I'm still pretty focused on the K. Yeah. I don't know how to be single. I. I don't think. I. I feel like if I start dating someone, I'll be like, I'm your wife now, because I don't actually know.
B
Right.
A
And the weirdest thing I've been talking to people about, like, being single today is so nobody's like, actually having conversations. They're all staring at their phones.
B
Right.
A
They're all like, I don't know, playing this text banter that there's nothing behind it. It's not real.
B
Well, are you gonna date the chef from Orish?
A
Oh, my God. First of all, that you go every
B
day, people cannot get a reservation, and you're flaunting this restaurant every day.
A
Yes. I basically live at Orash. It's true. And they have a pop up on this weekend if you want me to get you bagels with all the spreads. Yeah. Nadav has been a good friend of mine since, like, you know, he was at Shimonay.
B
Oh, right.
A
And by the way, Nadav's wife has also been to my house. I've given her Chanel jacket.
B
Okay.
A
So, like, I feel pretty safe in that relationship.
B
I see. Okay. I didn't know he was married.
A
Yes.
B
I haven't done the deep dive.
A
Yes, I know. I said, nadav, everyone's going to think that we're like, fucking in your, like, freezer.
B
And you're like, no, I just love the restaurant.
A
No, I'm just in it for the. For the machi kudo.
B
No. Like, people don't understand.
A
He's amazing. He's like a good friend of mine.
B
Like, I think people know that you're like a kookalook.
A
Yes.
B
But, like, you truly are. Like, when I talk to you on the phone and you have like a crazy story every other day.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm like, you need to be on reality tv. Like, we need to have camera, Andy. And a camera following me. Following you to. She wakes up in the morning, sometimes she goes knocks on Dr. Oren's office and it's like, let's. Let's do some tits. Like, you did that.
A
Let's do some.
B
Didn't you do that with your mom? What did you do with your. With your mom?
A
I. My mom had, like, a facelift.
B
Right.
A
Or like a corrective. Whatever. And he did my boob lift.
B
Right? It was boobs.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
But you just. I feel like, wake up in the morning, and that's my pick.
A
Maybe they're like, let me get you an appointment for, like, six months from now. I'm like, how about in 10 minutes? Because now I'm here and ready to go. I need to be bumped to the front of the line.
B
Would you do reality tv?
A
Oh, my God. The problem with. Is this. Like, I've been approached a lot.
B
Yeah.
A
And I always say no. 1, because you know how neurotic I am about the kids. Showing the kids and.
B
Right. You don't show the kids on Instagram. Obviously you're not going to show them on.
A
I can't show the kids. I can't, like, tell their story for them. They're going to tell their own stories. But also, I don't. I'm a writer. Like, if I don't have control, if I can't fucking tell you. Okay, this is what's going to happen in Act 1, and this is how we're going to play it out. Like, that's why the Instagram for me is so just incredible. Because I'm in control. In control? Yeah.
B
You wouldn't be able to be not in control.
A
And they're like, let me just film you and then we'll tell you who you are. That I can't do it.
B
So what did they approach you for, Roni?
A
A lot of different.
B
A lot of.
A
A lot of different things. Yeah.
B
So secretive.
A
I can never do it.
B
You can't. No. It's not for you.
A
I'm only secretive because I feel like. Like my mother hen is watching. Mother is watching. Jason. The mother. Mother will be mad.
B
Why would mother be mad about Bravo?
A
I don't know. He just doesn't. He's just like, just shut the fuck up, Jenn. Stop.
B
Wait for. First of all, if he would say that about this podcast, like, what does he say about your Instagram?
A
Oh, yeah. Not great. Not suitable to even tell you on the podcast.
B
We'll be right back after the break. When life gets busy, having one lesson to worry about and think about, that's always a win for me. And that's why Starbucks Frappuccino chilled coffee drinks are such an easy grab and go option. And also when I see them at, like, the grocery store, or the gas station. I just feel like home. Like, the Starbucks logo gives me home vibes. I'm like, like lost in the middle of the. The forest. I'll see a Starbucks chill drink. I'll be like, I'll sleep here with the drink. Thank you. Every time I remember how old he is, I can't believe it. And his eyes recently have acted up and looked a little cloudy. Then a little red. Had to run with him to the animal hospital and thank God that I have ASPCA Pet Health Insurance program because I didn't have the worry. B
And we're back. Okay. Let's go into Instagram. Okay. Because this is what I called you about when you were trending. I didn't really even know.
A
Yeah.
B
All the drama.
A
Yes.
B
About this post.
A
Yeah.
B
And I thought that what you said on the phone to me hit so true and hard. Yeah. And we talked about you writing a piece about it.
A
Yeah.
B
I was like, come on the pod and. And say this, because I think it's really important. So let's talk about how it all started. You posted a photo with your kid. Yes. You're hugging in the bed. Yes. Call it whatever you want. Hugging, embrace, embracing, toppling, whatever the fuck.
A
Yeah.
B
Caption was your oldest.
A
Your eldest child will be the most toxic guy you ever date. Which is true.
B
Okay. Those were the exact words.
A
Yes.
B
People don't then twist it or anything.
A
Which if you have a son, you fucking know that.
B
And let's. Okay.
A
And I can explain what you mean.
B
I noticed from the beginning that this is going on, like, the wrong side of Instagram. This is being taken. Like, you could tell right away, right when the comments.
A
Well, I think Caroline. Not to throw Caroline under the bus, but somebody attached my. My Instagram to my Facebook.
B
Okay.
A
And Facebook is a different demo of Facebook.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
A
And I think that that's where it started to, like, get this weird traction,
B
but because the Instagram people know you. Follow you.
A
Yeah. It's like, this is the joke I've been making forever. Like, I'm in this dysfunctional relationship with, like, a guy who's like, you know, can you hold my head while I, like, vomit into the toilet?
B
Can you wipe my butt?
A
Can you give me a full body massage before bed? Can you, you know, be a deer and put more ice in my water bottle? Like, this is the treatment.
B
I know who grabbed my butt and said there was a lot of. Of fat on this, but. And I said, you're not wrong, Noah.
A
Yeah.
B
So, yeah. Another example. Right.
A
Just toxic use and abuse me. And I'm still like, is he gonna call? Like, I was never that girl. I've never been in that kind of relationship.
B
First of all, ever. I already think of, is he gonna call in 20, 30 years? I'm not even. Is he gonna call today? I'm worried about him not calling.
A
No. I'm gonna be banished to voicemail for all of eternity. And I'm just gonna be like, I'm gonna keep psycho dialing. I'm going to be the girl sending texts. Are you mad at me? Like, I Am going to be my worst nightmare.
B
And this is a joke. Let's just say it again. And I've. You know that I love your writing.
A
Yes.
B
And I followed you for years, even before we met. And this is part of your humor. This mom. My dictator lunches.
A
Yes.
B
Dictator lunch.
A
She's the dictator. And I live in this, like, autocratic regime, okay. Where I have to, like, you know what he says? It's like, thumbs up or thumbs down. Like, off with my head if I fudgeing, serve you sunbutter. You know what I'm saying?
B
So what do you think made people take this the wrong way? The caption or they thought, like, the. The. The hug was. I mean, what. What do you think set people off?
A
I think they thought that maybe the hug looked lascivious. I'm not sure. I don't think they liked the caption. Toxic. I think Toxic got in some sort of algorithm search. And you're probably reading about, like, being, like, abused. And then you see this woman, like, embracing her son, and they're just like, what the. You know, they couldn't handle it.
B
They couldn't handle it.
A
Threw them over the edge.
B
You were getting. People were saying they want to call CPS on you.
A
And my sister had the best response. She's like, somebody should call CPS on me for ordering my son Taco Bell for dinner. Because that is like, what are we talking about?
B
What are we talking about?
A
And by the way, if you knew my son, like, he's really the predator. He's the one who's all over me. I've been, like, trying to, like, lock him out of the bathroom for, like, the last 12 years.
B
No, the bathroom is crazy when you just want to go to the bathroom. So.
A
But I do think it has to do with.
B
Yes, this was very important. When he said this to me, my mind was blown.
A
I think that, like, I. If I had made this joke a month ago, two months ago, it would
B
have played differently when you were married, because.
A
Yeah, and I'm still married, but, like, when you were publicly, like, with a man. And I think that there's something about a woman who is not attached to a man that somehow reads as a threat. Dangerous. Like, she's.
B
First of all, this is really important, what you're saying, because. Stop and think about it. Jenny has never gotten shit about this subject. She's been making the same joke for years.
A
Wrote for fucking Parents magazine, a standing column. Like, I've been, like, a voice on, like, motherhood in a lot of ways. That's like, what my platform was.
B
And you've been making this kind of joke forever.
A
Forever.
B
And the fact that the first time it gets taken in this twisted way.
A
Yeah.
B
And people are calling you intense shit. Like, I mean, they're like, we hope
A
that Jason gets custody of your children.
B
No, it's crazy.
A
We think that you are a pedophile. You're insane for hunting, sending my sister. DMs. Do you molest kids too? Out of control.
B
Out of control.
A
And then I die. They're like, jason Biggs is estranged wife. I'm like, I'm literally sitting next to Jason. I'm like, I guess I'm your estranged wife. Like, it's like the picture they paint is.
B
But these are people that don't know you. I feel like once it gets in the algorithm.
A
Yeah.
B
You're not in control.
A
You're not.
B
You're on a different people that know you. It's like a community. It's inside jokes. It's.
A
Yes.
B
Once it's on the algo, it's on the fyp. Oh, I'm gonna use that. No, you're.
A
You're really old.
B
I was like, this is. It's already there. Like, it's in the. And listen, I read your stuff, and like you said, in one of the things which they were getting pissed about, there was a line that was like, his. His girlfriend isn't even hotter than me about your. Like, it's just hilarious.
A
It's just.
B
By the way. And then it's like, she's comparing, and I'm like, wait, do these people think I'm serious? Like, these people go to comedy shows, and then every joke a comic is making, they're like, yes, you are making a joke.
A
Joke about, like, the way that you can spin over somebody that you love. Like, nothing more, nothing less. But it is crazy. Like, because, like, when your body. When you have, like, just like, my. I had a chaperone, right? I had, like. Like, I was attached to a man. There was something like. I don't know.
B
And maybe that's not what it is. I think there is a connection in other ways. I think there is a connection because you're right. You have been posting this for years, joking about it for years. This is the first time you've posted something like this about your son, one of your sons, while people have discovered that you're no longer with a man. Crazy. And then they're associating.
A
They're sexualizing, moralizing. They're reading their own shit into it and saying, yeah, this woman is. Is a threat.
B
How did it. When I called you said you were really upset.
A
You called me? I think I was like, I had just been like crying. Jason had come over and was like, you know, do you want me to say something? And of course, like, I don't want that. I want. I mean, I want to stand. I, you know me, like, have I ever kept my mouth shut about anything that I believe in? I go so hard. My publicist called and she's like, you know, do you want to give a comment? And I thought at first I did want to. And then another friend of mine said, you know, don't comment. Like, just write something.
B
Yeah.
A
And I thought that was like, really good advice. I needed that advice in that moment. So I didn't just like, give a sound bite and I just like went back and like went. Ham.
B
You wrote for your sub stack.
A
Yeah.
B
First, what did you call the piece that you wrote for this? About this?
A
I think I said the love that breaks us.
B
Something like that. Yeah.
A
Because I do think it is like a relationship where, you know, it ends you alone. Like, it's, it's. It's scary to get into a relationship, you know, that's gonna end with you,
B
which is a relationship with a son alone.
A
Or I mean, it could be any relationship that, you know, it's like, it's not supposed to last. Not all relationships are supposed to last. And this is one where you're like, handing your heart over to somebody. You're like, yes, hurt me.
B
And I. You double down. By the way, this piece, first of all, you say there's something devastating about realizing your children can survive without you, that they can be content somewhere else, happy even. And the security once felt being their entire world was never meant to last. There is a mom that doesn't connect to this. Like. Yeah, I don't buy it. You wrote, when I look at that picture, I see a 12 year old boy who still wants his mother and a woman trying to hold on to closeness and a. And connection at a time in her life when everything else is changing.
A
Yeah. Yeah. Because it's like, you know, the flip. The other, you know, side of that piece is like, this is the first time in my life I don't have my kids, like, sleeping in my house every night. I mean, there is like something so hard and like, heartbreaking about that, like, to get your head around, like, this is my new normal. So, like. Yeah, I mean, to have so to my. For my son to still, like, want to hold me. It means so much right now.
B
May they fucking hold us until we're like blue in the face.
A
Right? Yes, I know, it's crazy. I don't. I. Maybe some people don't have that kind of relationship. I mean, you know, we've talked the thing that started circulating, you know, I don't know, kiss.
B
And I know. Well, Regina let me know. My Caroline let me know. She's like, you know that the.
A
They're tying the two together.
B
They're tying the two together. You came on my pod a while ago and said that you and your dad kiss on the mouth.
A
Yes.
B
Which people thought it was weird then, but they're tying it in.
A
And I said it's because we're Jewish.
B
But how are they tying it together?
A
I think they're just saying, like, see, she was clearly molested, which kills me, you know. So I did shoot this, this series based on my first book with ABC years ago. And Alan Thicke played my dad. And I had the fucking funniest scene at the end where I was like, I love you, dad. And we kiss on the lips and I was like, I told you. The director, Nancy Hower, I was like, hold on the kiss. Hold it till it's like so long and fucking awkward and uncomfortable. So we shot that scene.
B
Yeah, the.
A
You know, I'm sitting there with Jamie Tarsus. We're watching the cut and like we get a call from ABC and they're like, we can't air this episode unless we like shorten the kiss. It's like so quick.
B
Is like 20 seconds.
A
It was like long. And I said like, then don't air the episode. Cuz it's so funny. Like if you don't have the long gifts, it's not comedy.
B
Yeah.
A
So we didn't air it.
B
You didn't air it?
A
It was the last thing Alan Thick ever did before he died.
B
No.
A
So guess what?
B
And you got to kiss him.
A
That's on ABC's hands.
B
And you got to kiss Alan Thick.
A
They robbed Allan of like that performance he could have.
B
Wait, what was this show called?
A
I like you just the way I am. It was based on my sister and
B
it was on ABC on ABC Digital. Oh my God.
A
When that was a thing? Yeah, it was fun. And Busy played my sister.
B
Busy played your sister. It was really fun.
A
Yeah.
B
And you were supposed to do something else. So. Another show? No, another show. Remember with what's her name? That. That.
A
Who?
B
Producer. You love Diego Pablo.
A
Oh, with Diablo. Oh, well, Diablo was producing the city of Diego. Diego Cody. She would actually love that I'll actually tell her that you said that.
B
I called her Diego. Pablo.
A
Oh my. You gotta have her on. She's so good. She's one of.
B
You were working on something with her.
A
We sold City of Likes to Sony, but I sold City of Likes as a. I sold that. I. They optioned it before the book came out.
B
Isn't that crazy, you guys? This is how the industry works.
A
Yeah.
B
You sold your book before it even came out. So this is like. Let's equate it to like this bell burden selling strangers.
A
Right?
B
But hers is just getting like that fast pickup, right. Of like Gwyneth Paltrow. Got it. Yours was also sold as it are many. Right. And then what? It's kind of like stuck in.
A
And it's like you're in development or you're, you know, pitching different. It's like that's the studio for it. You know, you're actually. We weren't doing it as a film, were we? Now I don't even remember it was a one hour. Then you're pitching to networks. So then it's like once a studio buys it, then you go out to networks and it's like. It's like just building the package.
B
Is it going to happen, you think?
A
No, I don't think so.
B
You don't think it's going to happen?
A
City of Likes? I don't know. I mean, I don't know. I've moved on.
B
You've let it go.
A
Are you on other things?
B
Are you working on something else?
A
Two other things right now.
B
Yeah. You're working on the other side?
A
Yeah.
B
Well, let's. I want you to say everything you want to say about the scandal with the. With the Post. Did you delete it?
A
I don't know. Maybe it's up, maybe it's not. I'd have to ask Caroline.
B
Was it a decision? Like, I feel like if I was in your position, it would be like.
A
So the night it was happening, I was. I was talking to somebody and I said, I'm in the middle of this situation and I know it's going to go. I can see right now, you know, because I've been in enough of these fucking weird scandals over the course of my career where, like, I can tell you this is going to pick up and this is going to be a thing and I'm going to feel like it's the end of the world because I'm the person in it. But really it's so small and it's gone. It's so ephemeral. It's just fast.
B
Yeah.
A
So I knew it was going to happen, but I couldn't take it down because then there's that part of me that's like, I get so indignant and like stand so firmly in like what I believe that I'm just like, burn me to the fucking ground, bitches. This is a picture of my fucking kid. I'm not taking it down.
B
That's what I would think.
A
I'm doubling down. I'm gonna post another pic just to annoy you. And so then my sister in law was over there and we just started,
B
you know, going off, posting stories. Right, right. In, in your stories you were talking about it.
A
Yeah, and I always talk about like I had a scandal happen where like USA Today. No, no. What? It was like the Today show. This was back when I had Sid. Okay, so this is like 2014. And I was posting from the delivery room, like just, just the way everybody does these days. But back then it was like, weird. Like, whoa, she's over sharing. So the news cycle was. Can you believe this, Mom? She's over sharing. She's such an oversharer. And so the next day, it's like a normal person will probably like take the note and adjust. And I double down with a picture of Howie Mandel, my OB from la, holding my placenta. And I said, I don't know if this is considered oversharing, but I think my placenta looks very young and hot in this photo. And it's just this bloody fucking, no come at me fucking. Sorry.
B
How did you get this, like, secure with who you are? Because, like, for example, you know the viral video about you talking about kissing your dad?
A
Yeah.
B
People are going fucking ham on it. And you're like, you brought it up
A
right now I'm like, I don't care. Yes, I kiss my dad when he's dead. I'm gonna be like, thank God I kissed him so many times.
B
How are you? How do the, the trolls and the like, how do they not seep into your soul?
A
I know my sister says, like, how.
B
How are you not like, you know, because sometimes I'll post something with so much conviction and I'll see like the, the that annoying comment you're expecting. And as much as I'll say, like, that's so annoying, I'll be like, wait, was it, did I, was it mean of me to say, you know, like, it'll. I'll start overthinking about it. Does that not happen to you?
A
No. I mean, no. There are things that I freak out about. But my things I freak out about are more like, did I, like, betray my child somehow? Like, is this picture. Am I. Am I using this person, you know, for my own gain? Like, yeah. Or, you know, I've. I do, I do. You know, I've written a lot about, extensively about, like, exes in my life.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's like, I feel badly that sometimes it's like, yeah, I also, like, want to be liked. And so it's like, I feel like, you know how it's like they're like, let sleeping dogs lie. I feel like my motto is, I'm like, okay, wake the dog. Teach it to talk again. Make it tell me that it loves me, and then shoot it in the head again. Like, that seems to be my pattern. I don't know why, but, like, it's like I want to burn the bridge down, rebuild the bridge. Then, like, think of something funny to say about it. Burn it up again. I don't know. I just think that I. I don't let this. The haters. The haters, like, actually, I think they almost like, rile me up. More like they make. They ignite something in me that makes me go, now I really believe this. Like, before I like, was on the fence, but now I fucking really believe this. And I'm gonna like, force it into you too. I just.
B
Why? Like, I mean, well, especially with the, with the, with that stuff. Yeah. I also had to calm you down there.
A
You had to call me on the phone and say, stop posting straight to camera. You're gonna get shot.
B
And I think about this situation. The. The Instagram post, it is. So far, it's not like, okay, I posted yesterday how why are hotel check ins at 4pm? Like, it makes no sense. Yeah. I started thinking about it. I was like, how does this make. Who is landing? What is. Why. Why can't they figure out a system?
A
Yeah.
B
And then, you know, I get the comment of like, well, the cleaning, you know, that it made me sound like I was like, anti cleaning people. I hate cleaning them in and have no respect for them or their time. Which is obviously not.
A
That's what you said also when you called me that morning. I don't. So before you hung up, you let me know.
B
So for me, that can make me think, like, wait, was I not showing respect for cleaning people in this post? I'm just trying to give an example for you. There's no part of you, I'm assuming that sees these comments that are calling you, these names like a perv. A pedo? Yeah. And you're going, let me think about that. That might be true. Like, you know that. It's like, I'm like, nobody's more afraid
A
of predators than me. Like, literally, I won't even. I never let my kids, like, sleep out. I was like, everyone is a child molester until proven otherwise. Like, even my friends. I would not. I was so. I'm paranoid.
B
Yeah. It is just wild how you never know how something is going to be received.
A
Yeah.
B
And especially because of the algorithm, if it was to your people.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't think any one of your people turned on you. Do you get what I mean?
A
Why people are like, have you met Jenny? Have you followed Jenny?
B
Right? Have you follow Jenny?
A
Insane.
B
Like, she said, so much more wild than this. We were like, don't go back is what we're saying.
A
Like, don't we. That's what I told you. That's the thing.
B
So this is what I told her on the phone.
A
Go. You say it. You say it.
B
I'm like, jenny, you go back, start
A
deleting everything because there's such worst shit You've said.
B
Like, there's such worst shit. This is fucking nothing. And they're going to find it, Jenny.
A
Yeah.
B
I was like, they're going to fucking
A
find it and they're going to realize what a real whack job you are. That is so funny.
B
And I guarantee you didn't do that.
A
You've always been. No, I mean, no, actually, I did have Caroline go back.
B
Okay, good.
A
But you know what's funny? I feel like you are always there in these moments of my life. Like, it's when I think about these, these times I've been.
B
Pop up.
A
You pop up and you're like, jenny, you gotta do this, Jenny.
B
That's sort of sweet.
A
I'm really. Like, you're. You are. You're. You're so sweet in that way because you're a real person. Like, people who listen to your show think they know that. But, like, just to, like, double down on that, like, you are such an interested person. You. You, you listen to people in a way that most human beings don't. And, and most people, like, lack the capacity to do. But I genuinely feel that you care about people.
B
Yeah.
A
That's like, such an insane quality to have.
B
Did this change your future posting? Like, is it gonna make you take a. Like, are you gonna think about, like, wait, can this caption be taken in any other way? Like, do you think it's gonna affect that?
A
No, I'll tell you the two things that are affecting, like my posting is like my separation and then also my kids ages. Because now I do feel like I'm accountable in a way that like, it's like I can post myself. Like, you know, when you're married, it's like you can flirt with anybody. It doesn't matter because it's not real. You can get away with just shit. You can look like, like crazy because they know it's like you're married.
B
You're not like out like doing he was that I. You. I think that before you said that to me, I wouldn't have thought about it that way. But I said, but it totally makes sense now.
A
Yeah, but then when you're not married, you're like, whoa. She's like, everybody. I mean, you. And you said this about Nadav, right? Because it's like, it does come across in a different way. So like that I'm. I'm watching like I, I sell a ton of like, bras and underwear.
B
Yeah, you do love a bra and underwear moment.
A
I get like, yeah, I make a lot of money off it.
B
Wait, are you getting dms from guys now?
A
I mean, no comment. I'm careful now. I don't want to. To appear disrespectful.
B
Yeah.
A
And then I also don't want anything that my kids are gonna go, why did you share that about me? So and so told me at school that you. Whatever.
B
Has that happened yet? A situation like that?
A
I had to tell them.
B
They're older, right? Are they how old, sis?
A
I'm like, who are they?
B
No, where AM I?
A
Since 12 and Lazlo's eight.
B
12 and eight. So 12.
A
Yes.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
Some have phones, you were saying, right?
A
Yeah.
B
Mine don't, but yeah, I know you said you're going to be the last.
A
I'm the last one. You wrote the book.
B
The Jonathan book. You co wrote it now.
A
Wrote that. Just like I co own a rush.
B
You co own a go on a rush.
A
You co wrote sort of like into your life. And then I just take over. I'm like, give me the wheel.
B

A
Everyone in my son's grade besides him.
B
Oh my God. So is he upset?
A
Yeah, he's like, I'm not cool. Like, don't you understand? Doesn't that matter to you? I was like, no, I don't want you to be cool now. If you're fucking cool now, like your life trajectory fucking sucks. You need to be not cool right now. And you're already a privileged white kid with like a famous dad growing up in Manhattan, like enough for you. You need some bad shit to happen.
B
It's so. Do you say that though? Yeah, you do. Does he get it?
A
Yeah, he gets it. Oh my God. I want my kids to like, yeah, get it.
B
Struggle to like, get it.
A
I'm like, you need a fucking struggle. You need to feel what it's like to make fight against something.
B
Yes, I'm thinking about that because I'm like, my mom made me work. Yeah. My mom made me like since I was like 14. See, I, I think started, you know, and like, I think it totally is what taught me, right? Like, value of money.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, because she was like, if you want something, you work for it.
A
Yes.
B
Tell me that. You know, and Jason's always like, I
A
love that you're like, you have such this like crazy like, work ethic for your kids. He's like, but your dad like paid your rent forever. He paid for your college. He bought you your first car. And I'm like, yeah, but my dad has such guilt around money that it just, like, through osmosis, I have that.
B
Okay. Yeah.
A
I feel shame about, like, taking anything from anybody.
B
And with your kids, you feel like you have to, like, shame them. Like, I want them to feel massive
A
guilt when they ask me for a 25 fucking dollar basketball card that's going to get, like, dismantled in their bedroom in, like, 10 seconds.
B
I know, I know. I didn't do a good job of that. I didn't. I did the. Like, he. He'll order something on Amazon, like, without asking me. I'll cancel it. But, like, he doesn't get it. I need to do a better job of this.
A
I won't let them. I won't even let them buy, like, Robux. I'm like, my Roblox story is amazing. Where it's like. I was like, they just want your money. They're using you. And then one day, I joined Roblox myself for an account because, like, you know, there was, like, Sid Biggs, and then, like, Sid Biggs's mom so I could, like, go through this, like, world with him. Within 10 seconds, I bought myself, like, a mega mansion and a sports car. And he's like, like, you said I couldn't send any money, and you just dropped, like, 30 bucks so that your house is nicer than mine.
B
Did you ever think to do comedy for real?
A
Like, stand up.
B
Right.
A
I'm, like, friends with too many real standups.
B
You just hung out with Chelsea.
A
I just saw Chelsea.
B
She posted a story. Was it inspired by you at all? A little bit.
A
I think so.
B
Because she was talking about just, like, doing the right thing.
A
Yeah.
B
Women. She was saying women supporting women in a cooler way. She didn't say women support women. She was just like, stand up.
A
Yeah. She's like, stand up. Because, like, you know, the women that came before you would be, like, ashamed of you if you don't.
B
Yeah.
A
And I think that's so true.
B
Yeah.
A
It's like, have some balls.
B
Just to put a pin in the. In the Instagram post. The View was talking about it.
A
The View did?
B
I know if you talked about it. Regina, who. Who was on Jenny's side?
A
She's like, none of them.
B
No, one of them. One of them.
A
One. Oh, which one? And Whoopi was like, okay, Whoopi loves me. That's crazy. Whoopi was not on my side.
B
Okay, hold on, guys.
A
Whoopi loves me.
B
Does it say this somewhere? Okay, it says the Views. Whoopi Goldberg, puzzled by Jenny Mullen's controversial. Controversial Post with her son.
A
I'm distraught.
B
We'll be turned.
A
She turned. This is where time. I'm there. She's gonna.
B
You make her love me so good on the View. Because everyone's such a wackadoodle. Like, what's one more? You know what I mean?
A
They need one more.
B
They need one more wackadoo.
A
Oh, is Joy still over there?
B
Yes, I think so. Is Joy there?
A
Joy loves me. I have to have Joy at least on my side. I can't believe Whoopi turns sad.
B
Oh, that.
A
She, like, was, like, indifferent.
B
But she, like, didn't defend you. And the others defended her. Do you want to look? Watch the clip? Yeah.
A
I don't know. I don't want to see. Whoopi was puzzled.
B
That's what it says. Puzzled isn't bad. But he knows that. And I didn't have a problem with the picture at all. I mean, if that were a mother hugging her daughter with the reaction.
A
I think it was the toddler thing. I think it's grabby, the caption.
B
But it was a. It was a grabby caption. But I think, you know, boys, we
A
do have a certain relationship with them,
B
and there's nothing wrong.
A
Yes. It goes from being the center of their world to handing them off to someone else. Never going to do. Me neither. Me neither.
B
Me neither. I love that. This explained nothing to me. That's Whoopi. She doesn't get it. Whoopi doesn't get it.
A
Okay.
B
Whoopi doesn't get it. No one was hating the first lady that talked. Is a mama, boys. And she said something, by the way, that we didn't talk about.
A
Yeah.
B
We didn't bring this up. This wouldn't happen if it was your daughter. Right.
A
I know.
B
So who's sexualizing what here?
A
No. Completely. No. I was with a girlfriend last night. She's like, you know, I was pregnant for the last nine months. Well, that I need to clarify. And she. And her mom's French, and she's like, you know, I would just be, like, naked in bed every morning. My mom would just come spoon me and hold my belly. And I'm like, if I, like, didn't wrote that, like, I'm like, this is mothers and daughters.
B
Right.
A
We're naked around each other all the time. There's nothing weird.
B
Yeah. And yet, like, fully clothed, hugging your son. Yeah.
A
That's like just like a little spider monkey on me. And I'm in trouble. I know.
B
If you could sum this up.
A
And now it's just like, get away from me, you molester. Just to, like, with me.
B
Wait, does he know the drama that does. He knows. He knows.
A
Yes.
B
You told him what this caused?
A
Well, so he knows. Certain extent. I mean, he knows. He's like. Yeah. He was there that night when, like, Shara was, like, going off my Montessori school, you know, first of all, I need to meet.
B
I feel like he sounds like such a vibe.
A
Honestly, he would be a killer interview killer. Like. Yeah.
B
Oh, my God. So if there's anyone listening that doesn't know you, you know, doesn't see things clearly, they're like, we're puzzled.
A
Puzzled now.
B
They're like, whatever Whoopi feels. We feel. Yeah.
A
He really surprised it best when she said, I'm fucking puzzled.
B
I mean, that wouldn't offend you. Puzzle. Oh, yeah. Puzzled is fine.
A
I'm like, you have to have a son.
B
They called the caption grabby, by the way. Would you agree with that? Isn't that good? Grabby?
A
It grabs your attention.
B
I think that's. I. Yeah. I think that means, like, Right. You want that?
A
Isn't that the whole point?
B
Right?
A
As a writer, like, gravity is a compliment.
B
Right. I mean, I don't want just like,
A
a basic blessed hashtag. Right.
B
If you did hashtag blessed.
A
Yeah.
B
The post would have gone, gotten. No engagement.
A
One like, one. Like, I would have liked it.
B
Okay. So you feel good about everything we talked about.
A
Yeah.
B
Really, at the end of the day, like, take everything with a grain of salt and sense of humor. But it's like, there is a real bully mom struggle.
A
Yes.
B
And it's not even like, do I want a little girl to braid her hair? Do I want to. No. It's like, no. We know the trajectory of what it looks like. Usually.
A
Yes.
B
For having a boy. And everyone tells you they're gonna leave you, they're gonna marry off, they're not gonna care about you anymore. Like, you kind of have to want
A
that for them as well.
B
Right.
A
I mean, whoever gets it is, like, really in for a treat. But, like, it's a lot. It's demanding relationship. But, yeah, I think that.
B
Right. You don't want to not have them have that. So you're like,
A
for us? Yeah. I'm like, I have to want to give you to someone else.
B
Right. And so I think it's something to joke about, something to talk about and something that I said.
A
It's like the longest goodbye of your life.
B
First of all, stop. That makes me really sad.
A
I'm sorry.
B
I'm gonna say that I'm gonna bring you to tears. Right? And that's the other thing. Like, I've thought about it so much. Like, I wouldn't want to date a mama's boy, but I, of course, want my boy to be a mama's boy. So, like, yeah, yeah. You know, like, would I want to date somebody who is obsessed with their mom?
A
No, you don't want to date a guy that doesn't have a good relationship with his mom. Let me tell you.
B
But. But, like, I would be okay with good relationship and, like, call her twice a week. You know what I mean? Like, but I don't want that. I would want my son to call me every day and be obsessed with.
A
The end of the day, you become their mom in, like, a marriage relationship, whatever.
B
It's like.
A
But then you're like, great. I'm going to be trying to undo the knot of, like, whatever would happen to you.
B
But that's what makes me sad, because I want to be the mom forever.
A
I know, I know.
B
That's what happens to boy mimes. So Pete Davidson made a joke. I haven't done stand up in five months because I just had a baby. It's a lot of fun. I just got a little girl. It's weird having a little girl. It's hard to watch porn in front of her. He continued for adding. I still did. I power through. So not funny.
A
I don't even get the joke.
B
I think the joke is the dot, dot, dot. Like, it's hard to watch porn in front of her. Oh, okay. Not like it's the delivery. Yeah, yeah. Because I think it was supposed to be like, it's hard to watch porn now that I have a daughter. But he meant in front of her, not, like, in general, because I now have a kid.
A
Okay.
B
Okay. So it depends on the delivery, but yes. This is.
A
I mean, the way you're delivering it. Puzzling. To quote what people are puzzling.
B
Like, where's Santa?
A
Amanda, you should do stand up.
B
It's weird having a little girl. Oh, it's hard to watch porn in front of her.
A
That felt like you were trying to seduce me and it's working.
B
Well, Yeah. I hadn't seen this circulate a lot, but yes, men, especially comedians.
A
Yes.
B
Can say anything they want under the guise of stand up comedy. Or I'm a comedian or I'm, like, funny. Yes.
A
It's so true.
B
Which is crazy. It really. I know. It's. I. I talked about this on when I did a pod with Claudia, and it's Like. Like, I never wanted to be a. Like, you know, women supporting women or, like, have this be a feminist pod.
A
Yeah.
B
But, like, you only have to open your eyes a little bit to see, like, you know, the world hates women. Right.
A
And also, women hate women, which is, like, the saddest part.
B
Right.
A
Because most of the hate I got was from women.
B
Right.
A
It wasn't guys writing me, and it's like. It was like, mom.
B
And it's like, imagine it was guys
A
writing you, you horrible wench.
B
Well, let's move on from this.
A
Okay.
B
I feel like we've healed.
A
We've healed.
B
Are you. Are you feeling good about it?
A
Yeah, I feel great. As soon as I, like, write something and, like, take control of a narrative,
B
then I feel like you're done with that.
A
I'm. Yeah, I'm ready to move forward.
B
Okay. I want to talk about some things that happened since we last talked.
A
Okay.
B
First of all, I feel like we hadn't talked about the ambulance situation.
A
Oh, yes.
B
That you also posted, by the way. Baby posted a picture of you in the back of an ambulance.
A
Yes.
B
That was like, what, a year ago?
A
That was about a year ago. Yeah.
B
What happened there? So.
A
Well, now I don't actually know. I have to be honest. Like, I think that, like, I. I was on a bunch of peptides. Taking a bunch of peptides. You know, I have my hyperthyroid.
B
Okay, is hyperthyroid the one where.
A
Well, I have, like. Of course. This is so Gemini. And so me, I have dueling thyroid autoimmune issues.
B
Okay.
A
I have Hashimoto's and Graves.
B
So it's like, oh, I have Shimoto's.
A
I think, like, every Jewish girl does. But it's like, you know, dueling Banjos within my body. So sometimes I'm like, wired from it.
B
And other times you're sluggish.
A
I don't know. I don't get sluggish, though.
B
But, yeah, I haven't seen you sluggish. Wait, so you're wired because of your thyroid?
A
Often. Really? Well, I've done crazy things I won't even get into when my thyroid has been hyper.
B
Like, crazy things that you're blaming on the thyroid being hyper or like.
A
No, like, I wrote an amends to somebody that I shouldn't have. I.
B
And you know it's because of your thyroid being. How do you know?
A
It was like, I was in the throes of my thyroid being hyper. I'm like, why did I do that? Why did I feel such guilt? I needed to, like, write an Amends to somebody. I'm not even sober. I'm, like, writing amends letters. And once I sent the first one, I'm like. I feel, like, amazing. So absolved. My side of the street is clean. You know, it's like.
B
First of all, I don't think thyroid makes you do that.
A
No, I swear. No, it does, because you're so. Your anxiety is, like, at a peak.
B
Wait. And that's when it's lower high. Hi.
A
And Jason, you know, being in AA was like, you should just write an amends. And I was like, perfect. Then I started sending them off to, like, anyone I could think of, like, high school boyfriend that I made a fake Facebook page for.
B
Ding. Sorry.
A
You know, like, random person. I mean, I was like, like, who else can I send amends to? This feels great.
B
Wait, so.
A
And then they. A lot of them backfired, so.
B
Peptides for the thyroid.
A
So peptides to reduce inflammatory inflammation. Because it kind of got it so that I could be off of the medication that I needed for the thyroid, which I believe it did, which is like. It's called methimazole, and it in. It's illegal in France. You can only have it.
B
The thyroid med.
A
The methimazole.
B
Yeah.
A
They only give it to cats who are trying to, like, gain weight. And I'm like, great. So when I was out of it once in Paris, I had to put up an Instagram post being like, does anybody have a cat? Wait, so you were taking hyperthyroid? I'm not kidding.
B
Wait, did you.
A
Wait, so I was taking a bunch of peptides?
B
Yeah.
A
And then all of a sudden, it really affected my period. I had. I got off of it to do. I don't know what. It was a colonoscopy, something I did. And so I had to get off the peptides.
B
When you say peptides, you mean GLPs.
A
I had GLPs, but I also. I had a number of peptides.
B
Like, what everyone's doing now. You already did then.
A
Yes. Finger on the balls, whatever. Your kids take a photo, post it. Like, whatever, say and do as I do.
B
Like, you were doing this before because,
A
like, it wasn't cool then. Yes. I, like, brought it to the forefront, like, every.
B
No, but it made you fucking.
A
Just like I wrote Dopamine Nation or what? What's the book? What is the one Generation, Anxious generation.
B
Yeah, but you took too many peptides. You collapsed.
A
No, I. What happened is. So I was off of them, and then I got back on them, and I think my body reacted. I was Suddenly having the craziest period of my life where.
B
Oh, you were, like, hemorrhaging, blood clots.
A
Like, I remember running to the bathroom. I felt like I was, like, laying an egg. I was like, something's happening to me. And then I run to the bathroom. This is, like, graphic. Can I say this? Yeah.
B
And I.
A
And I look like I. I, like, pull down my pants, and there's literally, like, a blood clot, like, the size of, like, a basketball. Like, huge. And I start screaming because I'm like. It's like. I'm like. I'm After School Special. I'm like a high school girl who didn't know I was pregnant. I'm like. I thought it was, like, alive. I was like. And I call Jason. And I'm like, jason. And Jason. Like, the best part of Jason is that, like, Jason doesn't get calm.
B
When I'm like, oh, he gives you the same energy.
A
Yeah, he's an actor. It's like, yes. And he meets me there, so he. So we're both like, oh, my God. Screaming, looking at it. We don't know what it is.
B
It's like, the beating.
A
It's like an egg. It's, like, beating. It's fucking the scariest shit I've ever seen. And so then I'm like, oh, my God. And I just come from my obgyn. So I was like, sassoon. I think something's happening. He's like, okay, you're fine. Maybe get an iv. You'll be okay. So I'm sitting there. I have an IV person come over. These blood clots, they keep coming for the next, like, eight hours. So by the time I'm getting into bed, I look at Jason, I'm like, I really think I've lost a lot of blood. And, like, as a guy, he's like,
B
you're fine, and you fainted.
A
He's just like. It's like a period. What. What would be wrong with her?
B
Yeah.
A
And I walk to the bathroom, and all of a sudden I'm like, boom, out. And I pass out on the floor. And then I'm screaming, jason. I'm like. I'm. I'm unconscious. I'm having a vasovagal reaction. I'm on the floor, you know, because, I mean, of course, I am a doctor's daughter. I think I can, like, treat myself. I'm having a vaso vagal. You need to, like, call the fucking ambulance. He's like, jenny, our son leaves for camp first thing in the morning. He is. We have to take him to the bus. We can't leave right now. There's. We don't have a nanny. Nobody's in the house. We can't go to the er. I was like, I have to go to the er. So he's like, okay, well, I'm gonna. We. I'm gonna get. We're gonna go in an Uber. I said, I don't think I can move. And he's like, jenny, I'm not having a fucking, like, paramedics come into this house right now. You need to get up. And I'm like, jason, I can't. And so he starts walking me to the front door, and I, like, I faint again. And now I'm, like, passed out cold, like, on the living room floor. And so then he knows, like, I have to. I have no choice.
B
I have to call.
A
I have to have the full thing. And so then, next thing you know, I'm, like, strapped to a wheelchair. I'm being, like, gurneyed out of the. The doorman. I'm like, goodbye, Miguel. Good luck with your life, you know? They put me in the fucking ambulance. I'm white as a ghost. I can't deal with it. And I'm, like, driven away. And guys, for the next. For the rest of that night, it was absolute insanity. I was checked out of the hospital at, like, 6am Take an Uber back to the house and go to camp. As I'm walking through the front door, Sids comes out of his bedroom. You know, like, my little, like, spoiled house cat. Yeah. And I'm like, hi. Hi, honey. Rip the thing off. He had no idea any of it had happened. Are you ready to go to camp? Put him on the bus. And I literally.
B
But what do you think happened? Like you said, your body.
A
I think it was a combo. I think it was, like, being on stuff and then not. I think it was also, like, you know, just, like, my hormones were, like, from it a little bit.
B
Well, I want you to be careful with those things. Things. Can you. Can you do that for me?
A
Yes. I'm much. I'm much tamer now.
B
Okay. Because you don't need to be, like, dying.
A
No, I know. And it's scared. So my. So many doctors called me. They're like, all these moms who wanted, like, a hot Hamptons mom summer, like, are afraid to take their GLP1s because you just bled out on the bathroom floor.
B
But it is scary.
A
I was just hypothesizing, guys. I'm not actually sure it was that.
B
Right? You're not sure. Right. Because if you just fainted from, like. But it was eating enough. But it was blood. But it was blood.
A
And I never had blood clots in my life. I mean, that was just.
B
And they didn't at the hospital make a correlation with anything.
A
They speculated. But then I. They put an IUD in me, and so now I'm on birth control for the first time in my life.
B
Perfect timing, I guess. Did you film and post your labiaplasty on Instagram?
A
Do you have to ask? I did, yes.
B
Okay. Well, by the way.
A
Yeah.
B
In Jill Cargman's movie, Right. Was that inspired by you? There was, like, a labiaplast.
A
No. They told me about this place where you can go and they'll basically, they. They pull your blood, they take your prp, they inject the PRP into your G spot and your clit, and you orgasm on the podcast is, like, off the rails. You. Well, no, you don't orgasm there, but, like, then you have, like, crazy orgasms afterwards. I just got it done. She told me to go. I was like, okay. I mean, I'll do anything these days.
B
Wait, the. I mean, the labiaplastic you posted on your Instagram.
A
Yes, but that was only. And. And honestly, like, the timing of that was horrible. I didn't mean for it to, like, line up with, like. Oh, it. Line separation.
B
The news. Okay.
A
The reason I did that, again, I'm impulsive. I was with my OB GYN, who clearly have, like, a deep relationship with Dr. Albert Sassoon.
B
Jenny doesn't, like, save.
A
I don't.
B
Later, you guys. No, she's not putting it in drafts. Okay.
A
There's no drafts. There's no drafts in real time.
B
It's going up.
A
Yeah, it's going up immediately.
B
Yeah.
A
And I don't have casual relationships in my life. I'm, like, either close to you or I don't know you. Yeah. And so I. Sassoon was like. I had come back from Austria and everybody had, like, the same vagina.
B
Because you saw all of theirs.
A
Yes. And, you know, I remember when Jason and I got married, he was like, wait, you only have, like, one vagina lip?
B
Yeah.
A
I was like, he's like, jenny. And I didn't realize that. I just didn't know. I mean, I hadn't ever really, like, gotten.
B
You didn't do the mirror?
A
And so I told Sassoon when I got back from Austria, I was like, all my friends have the same vagina.
B
I want it.
A
I want one like that. Like, I don't need to be unique in that way. So he was like, fine, I can do it on Monday. And I was like, all right, fine, Monday, I'm in.
B
Did it come out like you wanted it to?
A
Caroline's like, I can't tell the difference, which is annoying. I was like, really wanted it to be, like, I don't know. Different?
B
Yeah. Can you tell the difference?
A
I guess. I mean, I don't know. There wasn't a big issue. It was just more like a fun story to tell. And I think you'd really.
B
I mean, I said this.
A
I'm addicted to the story, to the
B
story, for the plot.
A
I will follow it to, like, the ends of the earth.
B
Jenny, I love you. I love you. Thank you for coming.
A
Oh my God, thanks for having me.

Host: Amanda Hirsch
Guest: Jenny Mollen
Date: June 23, 2026
In this candid, irreverent, and at times emotional episode, Amanda Hirsch welcomes her longtime friend (and birthday twin), actress/author Jenny Mollen, to unpack Jenny’s recent headline-grabbing Instagram controversy. The episode dives into public reactions to Jenny’s parenting humor, her high-profile divorce from Jason Biggs, internet pile-ons, the nuances of motherhood, social media’s darker corners, and the personal cost (and healing) of public vulnerability. The conversation oscillates between sharp humor, social commentary, and poignant reflections on family, resilience, and the expectations of women online.
The episode is classic "Not Skinny But Not Fat": quick-witted, deeply personal, and unfiltered. The humor is relentlessly self-deprecating, but moments of real pain—especially around public shaming and the shifts of post-divorce life—surface often, giving unusual emotional depth. Jenny oscillates between defiance and vulnerability, with Amanda always ready to break the tension with a laugh, keeping the conversation feeling like an intimate, gossipy therapy session.
