This is your host, Amanda. I don't know if I lost my voice or again, had too many drunk siggies. I just saw a meme that said, the CDC now advises that drunk sigs don't count. Which I. Which I stand. It was funny, though, because when I had a drunk sig the other night, somebody said to me, oh, my God, an analog cig. And what was so funny is that I was a little overly tipsy.

I started offering sigs to everybody who doesn't smoke and like, okay, wait, rewind. Hey, everybody, what's up?

Oh, my God. It was an exciting week. Last week I had a really fun, cool event. I threw a holiday party with threads. Threads, Allah. Meta Allah, Facebook, Allah, Instagram. It was a reality TV dinner. Really celebrating, like, the best in reality TV since, like, everything reality tv, like, happens on threads. Like, if you need the tea. If you want to just get into, like, conversations, like, that's where it's happening. Like, I knew would be good. Like, which I. When I have high expectations, I'm worried because I'm so used to having low expectations and then being surprised. I've told you guys that's my way of life and I recommend it. But for this, I, like, knew. I was like, it's meta. I. The guest list is great. Like the. The restaurant we did at the Golden Swans, like, this new, amazing restaurant. It's like, so swanky chic. It used to be the spotted pig. Anyway, I had high expectations. I had a fit. I had everything going. I was like, wait, this is not good. Like, me expecting it to be great, like, doesn't bode well. But it was. Which means, like, my theory is wrong. You could not have low expectations and still be blown away. But it was just so good. Like, everyone that came and like, it was like, literally beyond. Like, this is how you know it's a good event. Like, nobody wanted to leave. People, like, stayed after, like, announcements were made to, like, okay, we're done. And then people went next door to, like, another bar, even yours truly.

Cuz I was like, I'm the host, so like, I cannot.

And I was like, I'll pop in. I'll pop in, I'll pop in. I'll pop in. Okay, now we're back to the drunk Sig. So on the way, I did smoke a Sig and was offering them to everybody who doesn't smoke. It was funny. It was really funny, actually. Like, I gave one to west, who then I made fun of him for not, like, holding it like a real smoker, which, like, why would he. Like, I just forced him to. Then I offered one to Kyle from Survivor, who's so sweet. He just wanted to give back to his wife.

And he just made a comment about the zig. He was like, oh, six.

I'm like, here, take one to go.

Like, I, like, whatever it looked like on social media was really, like, it was more. And I totally get if you had fomo, because I would too. Like, I would too. But your messages are so sweet. Like, my OG's from the beginning, just being like, I remember when you were just watching, like, you know, VPR and commenting on it or like, somebody said, like, being a young Bravo fan, I'm like, emphasis on young. But, like, I still am a young Bravo fan that gets to do cool now. And it's. I am embracing it and I am. I am enjoying every moment, recognizing every moment, recognizing that year of yes, recognizing the 2026. I'm going to go harder, babes. I'm in it a minute. I'm in the year of yes. And I'm continuing down that path anyway. I do, like, I'm trying to think, like, what else can I tell you? Like, am I having flashbacks of, like, Kyle Cook and Wes, like, feeding me steak because my steak didn't arrive? Like, I'm the only one that. Her steak didn't fucking come. Of course that happens. Just. I don't know. I just wasn't like, excited about, like, the. The content and just kind of the vibe there was kind of, like, you know, not exciting. I feel like I did everything I was there that I could do, and I feel like if I was. If I stayed, you know, it was going to kind of hold me back, like, from. What I really want to be doing was just more, like, cooking and, like, home things and.

Why do you have, like, limitations when you're there?

[Joey Kamasa]

You don't, but it's just, like, not the. It's not the same. Like, no one. It's like, if no one else is really doing it, it doesn't. It's, like, not conducive to, like, the peers, like, the people, like, I want to be mixing and mingling with, you know, with the wishbone kitchens and, you know, the people that are doing, like, the, you know, the home decorating and, like, that kind of space. And I feel like I was, like, the only one there. So it wasn't like. There wasn't, like, room for me to grow into that space.

Yeah.

[Joey Kamasa]

In that I Mean comedy. It's a. More of a comedy place there, which I. I still. I still dabble in.

Yeah, but you want to be like a. You want to be Wishbone Kitchen.

Well, I want to be Martha Stewart.

Yeah. Or a garden or.

But it wasn't a bad thing. I mean, we weren't. We weren't really social outside. It was, you know, we were. We were friendly, you know, you know, acquaintances, but, like, we weren't like, really best friends.

What was it like working there? Whenever I came there, I was like. Like, I was trying to get the vibes of this place that's, like, notorious for things and has such a. Such a name for itself in so many different ways.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah. I'd come in and be like, like.

[Amanda Hirsch]

They'Re the bros, right? It's basically all bros.

[Joey Kamasa]

It's an interesting thing because, like, on, like, outside and what it really is, everyone is really friendly and very close and very family oriented and very friendly. But that's, like the unspoken, like, thing that I noticed there, which is kind of strange, is, like, everyone is so terrified and competitive under, like, but like, without saying it. So they're all comparing themselves to whose show is doing better, who's.

[Host 2]

Who's right between yourselves.

[Joey Kamasa]

Even just. Even, like, everyone is just terrified, like, at all times. Like, on edge. Like this. Today I get fired. This day, lose it all. It was an icky feeling for me.

[Host 2]

Yeah. And also I feel like between you, I'm, like, competitive.

[Joey Kamasa]

It's like I know what I have, and it's like, I do it, but I kind of got roped into a dark place there where I felt, like, questioning myself and questioning if I'm good enough and comparing myself and it just. It got to, like, feel icky.

[Host 2]

I felt that with bars. So, like, when I would come, I would do, like, like, your podcast, and.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Then they would be like, wait, why.

[Joey Kamasa]

Are you doing there?

[Host 2]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, oh, my God. Like, you guys don't even, like, go on each other. Is within the barstool community.

[Joey Kamasa]

Like, very competitive. Very competitive and very kind of like unspoken things. Like, you know, people, like, there's obviously bigger brands. Like, the chicks in the office are huge. It's like, so everyone knows who the bigger people are. But it's like, you know, there's a, an unspoken, like, dark tone of it. Like competitiveness, which I thought was kind of.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Which is in your pudding.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah. So I'm just like, that's never been my thing. I don't really care. I'm not. I don't compare myself to anyone.

Like, you're happy for other people's success.

[Joey Kamasa]

Well, and also everyone knows they can never have what I have. So it's like, it's true. You know, everyone has something that no one else has. And I know what I have and I'm comfortable with that.

[Host 2]

No one else can be you.

[Joey Kamasa]

You know who said that to me once? And like, I. There was this clip, Chelsea Handler, she did this thing for like Elle magazine years ago. It's called My Turn. And I watch it every, like, every time, like needing some inspiration. And she basically says, like, when she was like, starting out in stand up comedy and like someone else did a showcase and her friend that she told her she had to get into comedy, got picked up an agency and she didn't. She was like, she had to remember herself like, what I. What you have, no one else has. And so like, you know, there's room for everyone and like, you know, no, there's. No two people are alike, so you can't compare yourself to anyone.

That's one of the truest. Like, most like, mundane, but things that you actually have to remind yourself every day, especially in this industry.

And if you compare yourself to other people or think that because other people are doing what you want to do or what you are doing, that that means that you can't do it or you need to. No, no, no, no, no. Like, even, you know, it helps me because I'm so basic and dumb and.

Like, care only about pop culture and.

Movies and celebs is like, how many actors are there? You know, how many actors are going for the same role? You know? And are there days that Jennifer Lawrence is upset because Emma Stone got her role? You know, or other actors that we think are huge, that you're like, you're such a star. You know, when Britney Snow was on my show, I was like. And she was like, to her, she was like, nothing compared to, like, a.

Lindsay Lohan, you know, Crazy when you.

[Joey Kamasa]

Mean, you know, you and I get to the chance to do this a lot in our careers. Like, you meet these people and, like. And it's like some, like, a big star is being insecure. Like, it's like, almost like we don't give them that permission to have that because, like, you're not allowed to not feel your best. You know, you're not allowed to, like, be insecure. You're Jennifer Aniston or whoever it is. Like, we don't. We don't give them that grace to be able to be. But it's a crazy thing to hear. Like, you're insecure. You have the hottest body. You're a billionaire. Like, what are you insane? What are you doing?

Do you feel like it's been, like. Like good things have been happening?

Kind of, yeah. I mean, it's starting to start. Pick up now, but, like, I was kind of like, I was dormant for a while, just, like, not doing anything. I don't know what. I didn't know where my next step was. Like, I didn't want to just, like, jump into another podcast. I mean, you know, I saw my podcast me. Nicole, have Sookie have a podcast that we do every Friday.

Is she scared you're going to bail on her?

No, no, we're still. We're still going strong. I mean, we're trying, like, to, like, trying to evolve it and, like, you know, grow it bigger now.

But, yeah, So I wasn't sure if I want to.

Do you guys do live shows?

Yeah, we.

But she's so hard. Like, it's locked down. She has, like, 12 kids and, like, 15.

She has three kids and she has five stores. And she has a cheerleading daughter that, like, every day there's. There's a competition.

Unlike the cheerleading. Like, she fills you in. Yes. And you care.

Yeah, no, of course.

You're like, what? We're in. When's the competition?

I don't care anymore because it's been. It's going on for years, and it's ruining our lives. Not ruining our lives. I was joking. I said I was going to hide. Hide alcohol, nurses, and her daughter's cheer bag so that she'd get thrown off the team because she's. I mean. I mean, good for these Kids, but these kids for people, for moms that are in cheer moms. Yeah, they are. It's like, I guess same thing as dance moms. This is a 2012 month thing. It's like every week there's a friggin a thing and a practice in a who knows competition. They're all flying all over the world.

[Host 2]

Wait, how did you meet Snooki? You were her makeup artist?

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah, her makeup artist. Many moons ago. Like 15 years ago.

[Host 2]

That's what you were doing at the time?

[Joey Kamasa]

I was a makeup artist. Yeah, I was a big makeup artist doing, you know, like fashion. I was, I was in the fashion scene. I was study it.

[Host 2]

Did you learn it? Did you?

[Joey Kamasa]

I. Yeah, I know.

[Host 2]

Like what do you do? Do you go to go to school for it?

[Joey Kamasa]

I went to cosmetology school. Like, like in, like in high school. But I was. You know, when you're gay, you're assigned either hairdresser, interior designer, or, you know, only fans. Model. Yeah, makeup. So I chose makeup and interior design. I. So I. Yeah, so I just went to cosmetology school and I was. I was at Mac Cosmetics for a while and I worked my way up there. And yeah, I was doing like all like, you know, celebrities and fashion shows and music stars and stuff. Music stars?

[Host 2]

Which music stars?

[Joey Kamasa]

Like I was on tour. Kanye West.

[Host 2]

You were doing Kanye?

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah. When? Before. He was like wild. It was, it was a college dropout tour I was doing.

[Host 2]

What were you doing? Like him.

[Joey Kamasa]

I just, I used to, I just laid his things out. Like he didn't. I never had to like physically touch his face. I just had to get his station ready and have like that. He wanted a black towel. He wanted like Burt's Bees, Chapstick. He wanted like a bottle of Hennessy and like all these things. So I had to have his. His stuff. But he had.

[Host 2]

What does that have to do with doing makeup though?

[Joey Kamasa]

Well, because I would have his like all his grooming things that he would need for him. But he had this orchestra at the time of women behind him, like a 40 piece orchestra of women. And every show he wanted to have a different elaborate mask and face paint on them. So I was doing those. Those chicks.

[Host 2]

Well, that's insane for everybody.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah, a whole team of us that did it.

[Host 2]

When did you do Snooki?

[Joey Kamasa]

That was like after I did her afterwards. Like closer.

[Host 2]

Just randomly for an event.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah, it was like a. She was hosting a show. Hosting a reality show competition that I was on. It was like a makeup competition that we did Every year for Mac Cosmetics, it was like a Halloween makeup competition. And I did it. I like won it every year. So this is like the fourth year doing it. So this year Snooki was hosting it. So they asked me to do her makeup for. As I was competing for my. My title again, I won again. And. And so that's why I met her. And then she was. She was like. She came in, do you know, like Peanuts, the cartoon Snoopy with that. That messy rugrat one that flies in riff raff, I think his name is. And it has just like smoke and like dirt around him and like garbage. Well, she came in like bad out of hell at like 7 in the morning. She was coming from a, like a tanning convention somewhere. She's just flown in. There's like hair extensions and like cigarette smoke and like, you know, perfume. She was like a big mess. And she was still like hungover, like drunk and hungover. So she asked if I take shots with her at 7am and she had like vodka in her purse. I said I was like, yes. So we started taking shots and like sneaking drinks on set. And then. Yeah.

Became best friends.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah.

[Host 2]

Since then.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah, we hit the ground running.

Did you ever like. Was she ever like, come on Jersey Shore with me?

Yeah, I've been. I've done it a bunch.

Yeah. Yeah. And then we had a spin off. She had a spin off show called Snooky and jbo. So I was on that every season, like doing.

Not very much, I think. I think there's. Everyone in her life has like, kind of knows their role and they, they. It's. It's kind of like between her friends at home and then like me and then her friends from, you know, from the show, roommates and stuff. For a tape recorder. And I got like, a red light bulb from the shop, right? And I put a lamp outside. That means I was recording. No, it don't come in. And I was like, just like, talking to the. So the recorder stop. Yeah.

So did your parents, like, support this? Yeah, they try to help you, like, figure out.

Like, the thing was, it was like I was doing. I want. I know how I wanted to get involved in it. Like, I was. I really just wanted to be in the scene, like, doing makeup and stuff and, like, being. Being around the celebrities. But then I quickly, you know, that was enough. Enough dopamine for me. I was like, you know, then I was like, oh, I'm not. I'm not. I'm not the help. I was like, get me. I'm in front of the camera now.

Yeah, right.

[Joey Kamasa]

So it's like, it became like, quickly that I was like, you know, it's like once you get a little taste of, you know, cameras on air time, right?

[Host 2]

You want. You're like.

[Joey Kamasa]

But for a while it was. It was. Yeah, it was. It was like. It was hard for me to have. To always be like, you know, behind the scenes when I thought I wanted to be the star. So my. That's what I remember. It's called Joey, get out of the shot. My. It's my life. Living in the shadow of Snooki's poof. That's my book. Don't. It's. It's trademarked, so don't try Queens.

Because I just thought just being like, you know, part of it, being at Fashion Weekend, doing like, you know, like. Like real models, makeup and doing real designs and, like, gotcha. Being doing tv, having my makeup on tv or just being around a set or like, on. Near a microphone or something.

Yeah, that. That would give you, like, enough of that world.

[Joey Kamasa]

Yeah.

You know, it's when I. Because I.

I think it's this. I think when you know, you want to be in this industry in some.

Way, but you don't know exactly how.

Then there's that, you know, thing in you that's like, maybe I'll be fine, like, being in production or being. I was the same way. I was, like, applying to be, like, a producer on shows, and I'm like, okay, you know, like, what do you. What do you think? You know, I thought too, like, maybe I'll just be behind the scenes and, you know, I'll. I'll rub elbows and all this and all that, and. And then you realize, like, no, that.

[Joey Kamasa]

Would have never had a similar trajectory. You were acting and then. Well, you.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Not really.

[Joey Kamasa]

Well, you were a big actress in Israel.

[Host 2]

Israel, yeah, I was here.

[Joey Kamasa]

Were you a commercial actress?

[Host 2]

I was a commercial. No, I had one. I did one show too, but. But it was funny because in Israel at the time I was applying for jobs all in tv. Like, all I want to do is work in tv, but, like, behind the scenes, no one would give me. It's so hard, by the way. It's even hard to get a job. Like, it's. It's hard to make it in this industry as yourself, obviously, but it's as hard, if not harder to, like, work in it, you know? Like, people make no money in that because everyone knows. Knows it's cool. You know what I mean? You'll make no money if you work.

[Amanda Hirsch]

If you start out in those company media companies.

[Host 2]

What I'm saying is it's not random or. Or weird that you, you know, tried and thought maybe I could be the help, because I think it makes sense when you, like, you know, you want to be part of this world, but you don't know what way. And who knew podcasts and who knew.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Social media and who does mess you.

[Joey Kamasa]

Up a little bit? So when I. So when I do. I do take jobs here and there now, doing makeup and then to be like, not that I'm ever treated bad on set, but you're treated completely. Your name is on talent on the roster.

And it's like, you know, and I. I feel like, you know, like, oh, like. And then we're with other, like, the other, like, hair makeup artists. It's like, I don't. Like, I just feel like I'm at a place.

And then when they are together, it's all the good times. I mean, that's the luxury of having that kind of lifestyle.

Billy's family has places in Rhode island. And it's. And that's just very. The vibe. It's the Newport vibe for her. I would never think she would get married in Hollywood or a destination or France or something. It's not. It's gonna be an Americana summer wedding with lobster rolls and you know, all good, all good. New England.

I don't know. I mean it's either going to be something really small or like a blown out thing. But I was thinking people are small, you know, smaller venue.

I have another question for you. And now I'm remembering we talked about this at the beginning about smelling. Because you asked me if I smell people and I regret not smelling people so much like I smell on the street.
