How was that flu so fucking bad? Did your house get it?

It took our house out for the entire month of January. The entire month of January. We relapsed.

Was it A or B?

I'm still not 100 sure.

How do you know?

We never actually got tested.

Okay.

Because we were riding it out, like, our pediatricians, very, like, go with the flow. I ordered three of the kits where you can, like, do swab yourself and do it at home. Two of them errored, and I was like, you. I'm not taking the third.

Did you. Are you against, like, the Tamiflu?

[Kylie Kelsey]

We just didn't. We didn't hit it early enough. We thought it was, like. We thought it was like a preschool virus.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah, no, it's so bad this year. It's so bad. Wait, and it got you too, or just the kids?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, no, it got me and the kids. My husband, of course, came out barely scathed.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Just wait. Did. Did you see my post that my husband did not fucking get it?

[Kylie Kelsey]

That's so. Like, there was maybe three days in a row where my husband was like, I think that I might be getting it. The back of my throat scratchy, and I was like, I want to punch you right now.

Oh, my God. Do you know what he said to me, he goes, I think I got it. I just didn't, like, get it as bad. Like, I'm, no, I'm just not, like, dramatic about it. So, like, you didn't, you didn't hear from me? No, no, I could not. I'm like, I told, I told, I, I, I made a statement. I was like, we're doing something wrong. I'm over here trying to eat healthy. Lenny is getting a lot of breast milk, which should be fudgeing, antibodying him up, right. Meanwhile, this man is like the epitome of unhealthiness. So maybe that's what you do. You scare away bacteria and viruses with having really bad insides. Like, I'm starting to think we're doing this all fucking wrong.

It's not the elderberry or the vitamins.

[Amanda Hirsch]

It's the Taco Bell and the fried food. Like, just like, they don't even want to be there. You know what I mean? I'm starting to think, because that fucking pissed me off. Like, not that I wanted him to get it because it would be worse for everybody, obviously, but it was just.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Like, I feel like that was the universe's way of not sending me to the psych ward.

[Amanda Hirsch]

That he didn't get it.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah. Because if he got it, then I would. He's the worse than the kids. Like, the kids can rally. They're like, I don't feel good, but, like, I'll be fine. My husband's like, I'm die. I'm like, can you fudge. Get up. Can you get up and stop yourself?

It's called the man flu for a reason.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Exactly.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Does Jason, like, go to the doctor? Like, is he down with, like, getting his blood drawn, like, doing yearly checkups?

[Kylie Kelsey]

That's one of the perks of being a football player, is that the doctor is in the building, really. Whenever they want them to be. So, like, he used to be able to go to work and be like, I don't feel well. And he could have a script for, like, an ear infection within three hours.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Right, Right. He doesn't have to go to, like, the doctor's office, but. But now it's different.

[Kylie Kelsey]

No, no, he still goes to the facility. So he's still like, hey, doctor, this hurts.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Or like, some, like, at some point, someone put a dryer sheet, dryer sheets into our dryer and his sensitive ass skin.

[Amanda Hirsch]

No, I can't.

[Kylie Kelsey]

He got, like, a rash at the waist, like, where the, his shorts hit his waistband or his waist. And he had to get, like, a Cortisone cream. And he just went into Novacare and was like, it's itchy. And they were like, here's your script.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So. So he's doctor Spoiled.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, through and through.

[Amanda Hirsch]

No. I can't believe you guys. If we end up using this in the pod, I think it recently was said, I can't remember if it was on your page or like, press picked it up. That, you know, it was. It was on your page that you literally come into the studio five minutes late.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Which not without fail. Yeah. So it was. It was five minutes. I was not bad at all. Yeah, it's not bad. Not bad. And she is indeed doing her makeup in the studio. Like she said, she's honest. She's a real biatch. Which we already know. We already know.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I can't help myself. I just. I can't lie.

[Amanda Hirsch]

You do mascara, like, really like, you, you, you. You put in the work because it's.

[Kylie Kelsey]

The only thing that I'm like, oh, this will trick people into thinking that I'm awake.

Do you. Did you ever do a lash lift and 10? I feel like that would be good for you.

[Kylie Kelsey]

No, But Emily did one in the fall and she walked into the house, and I was like, oh, my God.

[Amanda Hirsch]

No, it's good, it's good, it's good. Me too.

And she was like, I don't even have mascara on. I was like, this is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So we need. You need to do it, I feel like. And then you wouldn't even have to do your mascara ever.

I love that you think I know where to go to get one.

[Amanda Hirsch]

I think that once you say you want one, there'll be a knocking at.

They will be. They will be there. No. I'll tell you what it is, though. I also like you because I saw your little non makeup situation. I also don't really do makeup. So what's nice about the. It's good and bad because what's nice about the mascara is like, you don't have to put it on for realsies. You can wake up, like, whatever. It's not like extensions where it's like, not for people like us, but the negative is maybe like, you're used to seeing yourself loungey, chill, and all of a sudden, like, you're like, is. Your eyelashes are like, we're here, right? So for people that are, like, mostly loungey, it's like, good and not good because it's good because, like, you don't have to put on. But it's weird for you because you're like, I'm in a sweatshirt and chilling at home. Like, why do I. Why are my eyes giving.

Yeah. Try it, like, once.

I feel like you should.

So we're slowly moving into the. Into the pod that's happening. I want to tell everybody, if I can, if I may, that I was on Kylie's pod, which was an honor that you asked me to be on. It was so fun. It was incredible. And I got to see a moment of, like, the Kylie. Like, I know we don't use this word anymore more, but, like, girl boss vibes.

Oh, no. Why would I know?

[Amanda Hirsch]

No, in the good way. Because. Because when I came on, I was. Because I was like, you were supposed to. Because I was. We were trying to schedule you on my pod. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

And then you didn't know about it because you're busy and you have a million things going on. You're pregnant, whatever. And you got upset for a minute, and she started making calls, and I was like, oh. Like, I. Like, you are, like, the matriarch of the fam.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I don't know about that, but I. I do. I feel some type of way that. That people should be held accountable. So, like, when you were like, we were supposed to do this, and I was like, let me fix that.

[Amanda Hirsch]

No. And then we fixed it, and you did fix it, and you watching in your element, because I think I. I can seem to people like, you think I would speak up, but I don't always. Like, I get shy and, like, timid in the weirdest scenarios, you know?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Of, like, nail salon, telling them I don't like it, you know?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, see, I would. I'm with you on that.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, you would? You would. Oh, okay. You would be like, I love it.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I'd be like, this is the most incredible manicure I've ever seen. And, like, my nails could be, like, completely curved, and I'd be like, this is incredible.

And not even that. Like, when they put the water in the thing and you put your feet in, it's boiling, and they're like, okay. And you're like, okay.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, your feet are actively blistering. And I'm like, it's perfect temperature. I love it. Thank you so much.

Like, why? Like, I. There needs to be a bigger social study. Because I'm like, why the fuck aren't you saying that you're. Or, like, I just got my Hair done and, like, shampooing, and it's freezing cold. And I'm. I'm convincing myself in my brain that maybe it's nice that it's freezing cold, because. Sure, because it's refreshing.

[Kylie Kelsey]

It is.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So when she says, is the water okay? I say, yes, because I've already told myself there is something nice about this freezing cold. So don't you fucking complain about it.

[Kylie Kelsey]

See, I would be the person that, like, my brain would race so quickly that I would be like, don't you remember when that study came out that you're supposed to rinse your conditioner with cold water because then it seals it into the hair shaft? That. That would be me. And I'd be like, this is. She's doing this for a purpose. I love this temperature. Thank you so much.

I saw real, because everything's a real now you just think it, and it, like, pops up for you. But that, like, we, like, millennials, were, like, duped into this myth that you just said, and they were all freezing at the end of the shower because we once were lied to, probably.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

About finishing that shower with cold water for some reason. Maybe it was the beginning of the cold plunge.

[Kylie Kelsey]

That's. We were on to something.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Maybe we were manifesting. Have you done cold plunging?

[Kylie Kelsey]

I. Around the time that I would have started cold plunging, I got pregnant, and then I got pregnant again.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So, you know, it just hasn't been your time.

[Kylie Kelsey]

It hasn't been my time. We've talked about it. My husband will do, like, the back and forth between the sauna and the pool whole, like, let the pool drop to a pretty low temperature, but nothing like, crazy. We do not have a cold plunge at our house. That's, like, the new rage.

[Amanda Hirsch]

That's the new thing that you got to have in your house. I'll tell you. Like, it makes me anxious. The. The what you said Jason does the hot and cold. Because, like, something about, like, the heart and the pressure. Like, I've. I think I fainted from something like that once. I know. Like, how are people doing this, like, at home by their. By themselves? Like, going the sauna at 3,000 degrees, running into a cold. Like, do you not have anxiety? Like. Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

You're not nervous about the repercussions here? He'll come in from doing what he calls sauna protocol, and his face will be so flush, and I'm like, are you cooking yourself? Like, are you roasting yourself? I'm confused.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, my God. I would be scared. Your 33rd birthday, is it. It's coming up. Right? I hate my birthday. You do? I was going to ask you how you feel. You're like, don't tell anybody.

[Kylie Kelsey]

No, I just saw something. This was someone posted and was like, aries birthdays are always like, oh, I don't want anything big. And then it was like, this woman sitting in front of, like, this giant cake, and I'm like, no, that genuinely. Like, I. When I was younger, I used. This is so millennial of me. I used to remove it from Facebook. Like, I used to hide it for the month of March, and then I would put it back because I'm like, I don't care that people know when my birthday is, as long as they don't, like, pop on my wall and.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Like, plaster it or, like, I'm dead. Wait, so did you. Did you have anything on your wall or, like, your friends probably knew and then.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes, but. But it wasn't like, you know, like, when you used to log into Facebook, it had, like, the little. The little flag in the corner.

[Amanda Hirsch]

What do you mean? Would count would be, like, 236. Great.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Like, wait, so used to remove it?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah. That's how much I don't. I just. That's how severely I don't like being the center of attention. That's all it comes back to, is that I don't want to be the focus of anything.

So, like. But. But if Jason doesn't do anything for you, are you not upset?

[Kylie Kelsey]

No, not at all. He always. He always does, but it's, like, subtle little things that I actually, like, like, whole, like, always get me a card, which I love.

Does he write in it or just like.

[Kylie Kelsey]

But no, no, he writes, like, a.

Note and then, like, front and back or one page.

Usually, like, the whole inside.

Okay. Damn. That's. That's. That's. That's good.

Yeah. He knows that. That's, like, something that my, like, our family always did. Like carts. No matter what, he'll usually do that.

Do you still uphold that with your family? Because, like, my family did cards when we were always. But, like, I'm kind of over it now. Like, I'm kind of.

We don't do it as much. No, but I like. But, like, I talk to my mom so much that, like, I wouldn't even have anything to write in the car.

I know. I feel like it's. And it becomes like, all these years, and then it's, like, a thousand years later, and you're like, mom, you're the best mom that ever was. You don't need A day. Every day is your day.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

You know, and it's just like it came a point where I was like it, it would still be coming from the heart, but it almost feels like too redundant on at this. Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes, absolutely.

Okay, so card and flowers. What about dinner?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, no, I'm not a jewelry person.

Not at all.

[Kylie Kelsey]

He'll. He'll do it every. So it's funny because whole, whole force himself to go and get something and I'm like, this is great. And he was like, he'll be like, are you going to wear it? And I'll be like, I don't know. Eventually.

Wait, that's. You're like low maintenance. I think so would he say that?

[Kylie Kelsey]

I think, I think he has a very skewed idea of women.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Right.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Which is probably why he has four daughters. It's why he was blessed with four daughters. The universe said he doesn't get it. We need him to get it. With only a brother. And then the only females in his house were his mom and his dog.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Right.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And I just don't like, I don't think that he understood women in a way where like when we started dating and he introduced me to his family, his parents were like, oh, oh, he, oh, he's dating someone. Like it was like a shock.

[Amanda Hirsch]

What do you mean?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Because he was, he was the. Would casually date people.

[Amanda Hirsch]

But like you were the first, you were the first girl he brought home.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Maybe the second. But in his adult life, the first. Like he had a high school girl that I think his parents met just because it was high school.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Damn. So that must have felt special. I feel like it's nice to date somebody that didn't date a lot of people. Right? Like they didn't date a lot of people. Seriously?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes. Which, yeah, it was, it was nice. But it was also like, I was like, you guys are shocked to a point where like, should I be here?

Like, is everything okay?

So surprised that he's holding down a long term girlfriend.

Yeah. So did you get to any conclusions? Just that he was like a waiting for the one?

No, he just, he doesn't. Like we match up really well because I ha. Like I just don't need a whole lot. Like he knows what I need. It's very minimal. It's like, walk past me in the kitchen, smack my ass. I'm good. We're good.

Touch is one of my love languages.

Not necessarily. I grew up in a house where my parents, like, when my dad would leave for work in the morning, he would always go and find my mom and give her a kiss goodbye. And then when he got home, he would always find her and give her a kiss, which I thought was standard, which is nice for me.

That is nice.

[Kylie Kelsey]

But then Jason at some point was like, I don't think I've ever seen my parents kiss. And I was like, what? I think he was being dramatic.

Yeah, right, right.

He was exaggerating, I think. But it was. Yeah, it was one of those things that, like, I. It's how my, like, love was sort of displayed to me growing up, and I always thought it was like, the sweetest thing.

Like the way you interact with your spouse, you then once you become a parent, you're like, how is this going to impact you as a little human?

[Amanda Hirsch]

Right. I know, that's why. But you know what I think it is like with Noah, Like, I think I'm such a dramatic person and I'm so loud all the time and like that if I'm happened to be loud at my husband, like, it doesn't. It's not like he's like, something's happening here. He's like, this is status quo. Like, it's just about something else. You know what I mean?

[Kylie Kelsey]

It's just a different topic of conversation.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Exactly. It's not like surprise, like, and I like that. But at the same time, sometimes when he yells, I'm like, oh, I get it's because I, you know, it all, it all comes around. Yeah. Wait, so you don't want to tell people that it's going to be your birthday in, in a little bit?

[Kylie Kelsey]

No.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Okay. But how are you feeling about it in general?

[Kylie Kelsey]

The thing is, I don't have any issue with getting older. Like, getting older doesn't bother me. That's it's simply having focus on me.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Well, first of all, you're super young lady, like, with four kids. Like, I have to tell you the truth. I've tell you the truth. I mean, talk about it for a minute because I want us to dissect it for everybody listening. Perfect.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I'm in whatever this is, I'm in that.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Okay, Kylie. And this is important because these are genuine feelings that people have in the world, including me. Other people. Kylie is pregnant with her fourth baby, which is so exciting. I, for instance, have two kids and I don't know if I want a third. I wouldn't say triggers me. I think it's more like I want to get into your brain and understand how you wanted a fourth.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Whereas why do I like. I wanna. Like, it could make you for a second, like, doubt yourself. Like, as me, right where I'm like, why don't I for sure want a third? Like, I think I'm such a good mom and I love my babies. Like, wouldn't that mean because I love my babies and I think they're great and wouldn't I want more? But then you're like, but I'm not sure. So, like, how is Kylie sure? Or like, why. Why does she want. Like, where does it come from? You know? Like, I'm dying to. Because sometimes because. Because I haven't decided for sure, but I think me, like, debating. You kind of look outside and you see what other people do. And sometimes it, like, affects. You're smiling some type of way, you know, while you're just like. They were all. They all just happened.

[Kylie Kelsey]

No, that I would say when we had our third, I had that moment of, like, our two oldest are only 17 months apart. And I had this moment of. Well, right now, it's. It's two. Like, I have two hands. I can hold both of your hands when we go places. I don't have to get a bigger car. Like, there was all of these things where I was like, two kids is great, but I grew up in a house of two girls. Like, it was just me and my sister. And it was always like this. What I felt like was like this unspoken competition because we were both doing similar stuff and we have a good relationship, but it was this underlying like, there's only two of you. So there was this, like, natural comparison, which I don't really. I didn't want for our girls.

[Amanda Hirsch]

What. What's the difference between you and your sister.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Three years.

[Amanda Hirsch]

And you're younger or older. I'm younger tracks.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And so I. I was like, I've always said that I wanted four kids. Room for, like, one pleasant surprise. Like, if we had five kids, I would be like, okay, that's enough. Like, we really need to stop.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Kylie.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Can I tell you, you're putting.

[Amanda Hirsch]

It out in the universe. Jsyk you that you put out. You can't take it back.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Let me tell you.

No. My husband was on a podcast, I think it was, with Charles Barkley recently, and was referencing, like, a vasectomy. And I was like, I'm glad you're throwing that out to the universe, because it has been in the discussions.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, it has. Okay.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes. But I think that. Because we. Then we. Then I was like, I can't stop now because I. I've always wanted four. Like, I'm going to. I'm going to keep going. And our second was such a good sleeper. And it's those things that sort of, like, trick you into it. So when we had our third, she was also a good sleeper.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, and sleep. You're all about the sleeper.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Well, our. Our first was just initiation. I call her initiation because she didn't sleep for the first six months of her life unless she was touching another human being. It was a dumpster fire. But when we had our third, I was like, let's just. Let's do it. And I've always said I wanted four. The one thing I will say is there was this moment when our third was probably, like, six months old, where I was like, maybe this is good. Maybe three is good. And then when she hit about a year and some change, I started, because she was so grown up, like, she was following her sister. She's talking, she's doing all this stuff. I had this moment of, oh, I forgot one, because I kept thinking, like, I forgot the baby. And then I'm like, shit, no. All my toddlers are here. Like, the. I have three kids. And I.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Because. So you were really always planning for.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

For. Wow.

[Kylie Kelsey]

But my brain, the. The switch that happened was when our youngest really started acting like a toddler. And then my brain started saying, you're forgetting the baby.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And I was like, oh, I did not approach our third as if it was going to be my last. And so I have this, like, mental block now where, like, I think that one more baby is right.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And of course, my husband, the whole time is just like, whatever you want. Thank you for your Support.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And. But you did say that you hate being pregnant.

I can't stand it.

Was it better this time? Worse. Were all your pregnancies the same?

Pretty much the same.

Yeah.

I mean, the best part is that six weeks with our third and fourth, I looked at my husband was like, I'm really sorry to break it to you, but this is a girl. And he was like, you don't know that. You haven't had any tests done. And I'm like, okay. I'm just.

Wait, you felt it? Way you felt it.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I knew. I knew immediately. Same exact symptoms. I mean, the dead of summer, freezing my ass off.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Wow.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Freeze it.

[Amanda Hirsch]

That's kind of. But that's better than like sweat. I was like, sweating, like. Yeah, yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Because it was like early pregnancy. It's just raging hormones. No, the whole time.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So Bennett is two. Almost two.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Bennett is two. She turned to February 23rd.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, so she is too. And does she? Because that photo you posted when you were. Your announcement was really. Was really funny.

[Kylie Kelsey]

She did.

[Amanda Hirsch]

I feel like two at two. I feel like the two year olds that get siblings, like, might feel it the most because like 1ish. Like, they don't really know 2. They kind of know.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes, a thousand percent.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So she's pissed.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Furious. I had my nephew over last Friday, and he's 11 months, and I was holding him when I walked in the house. And she goes, put it down. Put it on the couch. Put it on floor. Like, I'm not doing any of those things. Leave him alone. Put it down. I was like, this is gonna be so bad. You don't even know what's coming.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Wait, so that's your sister's kid?

[Kylie Kelsey]

It's one of my closest friends. Yeah.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Wait, you call them your.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I call it. I. I have. I have three nieces that I are like a friend.

[Amanda Hirsch]

That's so cute.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And I have one nephew that is not actually. Like the. All four of them are not blood related, but they're like such close friends and we see them so often and they're like, our girls think that they're our family.

[Amanda Hirsch]

That's so cute.

I grew up with a lot of cousins, and so I like. I like, especially in our situation, our current situation, like calling people who are technically our friends, like our chosen family, feels really safe in how we explain it to our kids. That they're like safe space.

Yeah. And do your parents live in your area?

[Kylie Kelsey]

But they're 10, 15 minutes away from us.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Okay, so they do.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh, my parents are over.

[Amanda Hirsch]

What all the daily. Daily.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I mean, no, they both still work, but they're. I mean, they're. They were over Saturday and Sunday. They're over most weekends. I laugh only because, like, I call them on a Saturday morning. I'm like, what are we doing for breakfast?

Stop. So what are we doing?

[Kylie Kelsey]

You want me to make French toast? Like, what? You guys are coming, right?

[Amanda Hirsch]

And they help with the kids. And they help with the kids.

Yes. My mom is like the most patient saint ever.

And my dad just gets worked.

Does your sister have kids or no.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes. So those are my three actual. Like, I have two. Two nieces and one nephew who are actually my niece and nephew. My niece.

With the competitiveness, how does. How do your parents split the time with your kids and her kids?

[Kylie Kelsey]

So funny, because I feel like the minute we graduated high school, it was no longer happening.

The competition was no longer happening.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh.

[Kylie Kelsey]

It's very like my. We live closer to my parents than my sister does, but not by much. And so a lot of times we'll all just descend upon our house.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Her with her kids.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Your parents.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yes.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Okay.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Like, it's.

[Amanda Hirsch]

No, Like, I know. House gets crazy. I mean, you live in a house. Like, we're here in New York in apartments, and the same kind of happens here. But I will say that me and my older sister, we just fought about it. Now I think we're not talking right now. It happens every so often. We, like, really get worked up about. Because I have like, just our mom.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah.

[Amanda Hirsch]

And she actually lives in my building, but my older sister lives three blocks away. So it's like, mom's at your house. Mom's at your house. Mom's at your house. Like, wait, but she was over last night. But why she. Whatever. When are you going to come over? My kids are sleeping. Like, I hear my sister on the phone. I'm like, she's with Noah, you know?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah.

[Amanda Hirsch]

So we are. We are combating that. And I have to say, like, it's nice to hear that you guys don't have that, especially because you said you grew up competitive. But I was trying to think. I'm like, do I need to move or like. Because I was trying to think, like, it probably is happening in so many families. The competition over the grandparents time. Like, how. I feel like more often than not, it probably happens because you want their time and especially on weekends, you want them there.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Oh.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Or up.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Right.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Lenny is. He asked for you. You know, the baby's like a month old. Oh, he said he wants to see.

[Kylie Kelsey]

He's crying for you. Yeah. All the time.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

I will say my sister has her in laws in the area too, so they are often like, they help a lot with her kids. She had like, she has a network too. It's, it's. Honestly, it's worked out.

[Amanda Hirsch]

It works. It worked out amazing.

[Kylie Kelsey]

It's, it's funny because the, the competition that we had in high school or like the unspoken competition was really because we were just doing the same activities. Like we both played field hockey. We both were at the same high school. We ended up. I was a freshman when she was a senior. It was like this slight overlap that was just enough where I wasn't really. I didn't feel that much like we were in competition. But every so often she would be like, but you get. And now that I'm older, it was always like the older sister was mad cause the younger sister never caught shit.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And it's a thousand percent true.

[Amanda Hirsch]

And also older siblings, really, there's a complex. Like, there's studies. She led the way. Friends. Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And she, she led the way. She. We got a car when I started driving because she started driving late. So then we would split the car and then she would like, she had like, like resentment for legitimate reasons. And in the moment I was just like, you're being like really dramatic. And now that I'm an adult, I've had multiple times. I'm like, you really got the shit under the stick.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Like, and I think that's why it's leveled out so nicely that like, we don't. But we used to fight all the time. Like we were either best friends or mortal enemies.

[Amanda Hirsch]

I know. It really does happen with sisters. How are your. Are you worried about your oldest, like getting the oldest child syndrome?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Well, she already, she's, she's. She feels her feelings really strongly. Like, she has big feelings. And so when she, when she feels something, it goes like from zero to a hundred. And so there are times where she'll be like, I know, it's just because you don't like me. And I'm like, I love you with my whole heart. We always start with that. I love you with my whole heart. Why do you think I don't like you? Well, because you let Ellie. And I'm like, come on now.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Oh, yeah, yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

So she just like, she's, she'll. She'll say what she needs to say to like, drive the dagger.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

And I'm like, A couple of weeks ago, I almost mistakenly called her, my sister's name. They're super. They're just super similar. It's like that first. The first child, and she's a daughter. Her and my sister have, like, a lot of similarities, really, but in ways that, like, as an adult, I can appreciate and navigate.

What's a ridiculous one that you got?

[Kylie Kelsey]

The one that. The one that comes to mind the most is merit. People keep recommending merit. M E R R I T T. Why? Because it has two T's. I have no fucking clue. And the problem is, is that what the. I don't like a nickname.

But what's the nickname or Merry.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Like, I don't like Christmas that much.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Huh.

[Kylie Kelsey]

For. For everything to be merry. Yeah, I'm good.

No, it's not the vibe too like your name. Not at all. Very, like, kind of like, even though they're two, they have like, round kind of, you know, like Benny, Ellie. Like, they're very, like, feminine. But also. Yeah. Merit is too, like, definitive. You know what I mean? It's too like, bam.

[Kylie Kelsey]

Yeah.

Need something slowly or do you have any recommendations?

[Kylie Kelsey]

Because we are. We have it. We have it narrowed down, I would say to two strong possibilities. They're not.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Is there anyone you're going to tell? Like, would you tell like this Travis now? Do you tell your sister? Are you keeping it just yourselves?

[Kylie Kelsey]

We just. We just saw Travis a couple of weeks ago and we had a whole conversation about the names. We don't. I'm. I am very much not in the camp of if. If Jason and I decided on a name because it happened with Wyatt, you making a face at me when I tell you the name is not going to make me waver like I am very much. Once we've, like, for instance, I had someone when we knew that we were going to name Wyatt Wyatt, people felt some type of way. Now, to be clear, she is a Wyatt. And anyone that meets her is like, oh, she's a Wyatt. When I tell you. This woman looked at me and said, you're not really going to name her Wyatt, are you? I was like, yeah, actually, yeah, we are. My husband and I decided that we really like that name. We are going to name her that.

[Amanda Hirsch]

Yeah.

[Kylie Kelsey]

It doesn't phase me.

[Amanda Hirsch]

It's true. It's true. I. My second son is Lenny. And when. I love that name, Wanted the name. Yeah. Thank you. It's cute for a girl, too. With. And I know. And I, I. My family hated it. They said, it's an old man. It's an old Jewish man. Like, it's this, it's that. And I was like, you're going to see, you're going to love it. And I. It's. So is it nice to be confident decision? I'm not Always this confident a decision. But when it came to, like, you go over so many names, like, you know, so when there's one that pops and you and your husband are like, no, no, we see this. And then you have your kids saying it, right? Like, Noah was like, baby Lenny. I was like, that's it. We're done. We're done. That's it. But I'll be honest. So many people were like, like, Leonard. And I was like, no, not like, like. And I would tell people. And you're right. A lot of reactions weren't always positive. But it is really nice when you don't care and it won't change your vibe.

[Kylie Kelsey]

You know, that's. So I think part of the problem is, is that between you and your husband, how many people have you met in your life that, like, you formed an opinion on? And everyone. You know their names, right? I coach field hockey. My husband has been on so many football teams and went to, like, a larger university. Like, you're talking about meeting so many people, and you formed this opinion of these people with these names that, like, you can't unhear, unlearn, right? And so between the two of you, you're like, I mean, it was. I. Some of the names I recommended, like, he vetoed. Some of the names he recommended, I vetoed. And it was only because we had met people with that name where I'm like, I wouldn't be able to call my kid that and not think of this person.

[Amanda Hirsch]

But like, I couldn't eat our home cooked meal because I was eight weeks pregnant and couldn't even stomach crackers.

I'll tell you, that reminds me of. I get. Occasionally I will get a DM that's like, I know you're about to have your third child. I've been a nanny for X number of years. I'm about to transition out of my. My current family. And then you go and you click on their page and they have, like, bikini pictures. Their boobs are, like, up to here, and they're in, like, a club dress, and it's like their whole Instagram. And I'm like, girl, if you're gonna market yourself, yeah, this ain't it.

Yeah. Yeah, not so. But you know what? I actually love, speaking of nannies, I love that you also, you went in a pod at some point recently and you thanked your nanny or talked about having help. And I think that's also so important because, like, the other on social media that, like, doesn't affect me. Like, bikini pigs don't affect me. I'm not. Like, I want that life and body, and I want to be on a yacht. Like, but I think what can affect people negatively is seeing certain people and thinking, like, they do it all themselves. Like, how do they do it? And I can't do it. And I'm telling you guys, so many people on social media lie, and they, you know, make you think that they're doing it themselves and they're not. And, yeah, it's not. Everyone's going to show their nanny and be like, here she is. And not everybody needs to say, I have help. But sometimes people are really making it seem like they don't have help. Right. And that they're juggling all this, a job of this or that. And people are like, how. Like, I. I can barely, you know, shower or whatever. So I like that you talked about that and took a minute to say, like, yeah, thank God there's somebody that, you know, is around to help me take a shower.

Yes. I have said multiple times, having someone. First of all, there's a reason the phrase it takes a village is so popular. It does. Like, there's. And us having help has nothing to do with either My husband or my own involvement in our kids lives. It just has to do with when there's so many moving parts. It's so great to have people that you can trust and rely on and that your kids also love and trust. That's a game changer. And yeah, our, our nanny's great. She's been with us for like three years. We like trust her wholeheartedly and, and our kids love her. Like, I can't stress enough when your kids don't cry when you leave them with someone. It removes a degree of that mom guilt that like we shouldn't have to bear.

So like you're allowed to, you're allowed to leave your kids for a little bit.

Yeah. I shouldn't feel bad about it. Like there is a part of you where like your kid goes to whoever is helping you. Right. And you're like, okay, that was smooth transition for you. But the bigger part of it is thank God because you know, and, and what's great about kids is like they really can trust a lot of people. Like, and it's so great if they can trust a lot of people, be okay to stay with a lot of people. And like that doesn't mean your place is like, you know, ever going to be taken. Like you're going to be mom and they'll probably want to hang out with you. But it's really nice to have people around that we hope they'll want to.

And then she very much like, you can just tell it fills her bucket. Like she. Because she's always 17 months old, her sister showed up. She's. It's always been someone else around our middle is just. She came out sweet. So like you get it no matter what. And she'll come in in the morning, she'll cry if I'm not in bed when she wakes up because she wants to cuddle. And then she'll touch my face and like tell Me whisper sweet about things. And our. Our youngest will just, like. She'll come over and get really close to her face and be like, I love you. And I come and he's like, playing with his toys by himself in some. In the. In his room. And what do I do? Which is why I was saying about you before. I literally come back into bed and my husband goes to me. I can't believe you were up. You walked around already. And instead of getting up before the baby gets up, making a coffee, like, you decide to get back into bed. So he's been talking to me a lot. He's been hearing from a lot of people that set alarms. Some mornings I get up at 7:30 and they'll come in and they'll like see who's still in bed. But yeah, they, they're usually. Well, would they go to bed at 8:30? The problem is, is that we pushed bedtime while Jason was still playing football because his schedule was so like not unpredictable, but it varied throughout the week. So he would get home some nights at 7 o'clock and then if your kids go to bed at 7:30, he was literally walking in and starting bedtime.

Yeah.

And they, it felt like Wyatt wanted more time with him. So it worked better for our schedule for them to go to bed at 8:30. And so then they started getting up at like 7:30 or 8, which just is just like the rhythm that we've. It's fit our lifestyle.

I hope that your fourth child is the same kind of sleeper and she doesn't pull up. Gets in there and I genuinely hope. I genuinely hope.

The, the one thing that works against me is my height.

I think people wouldn't think twice. Like people wouldn't double take if I was not walking through a grocery store at almost six feet tall in my sneakers. Yeah. Six Feet tall. And so it's like people will be like. And then once they look at me a second time it's like, oh. But it's deep rooted. Why I don't like the attention on me is because my whole life people have done like the double take and then immediately look to my feet to be like, why is she so tall? Expecting to see like a platform.

Do you like being tall? Like what's your relationship?

I do now. I do now. Yeah, I love it now. And I also have had to shift my self talk like the way I talk about height myself so that I can make sure that my girls have the example of that. I mean they're, they have, they're going to be tall.

They're going to be tall. I just, I had Jessica Williams on, she's on the show shrinking and she's so great. She's six feet and she said that one of the things she hates getting asked about is her height. And that I was like, oh, so tell me about your height. But she was really funny about Alice and do the clip. But she was like, she was like, she also likes it now. But she was saying like, I love to feel small. She's like, I want to feel like a baby. Oh no. I know why she said it was funny because I asked her if she. Because she's, I don't think in a relationship. So I asked her if like height plays a factor in in dating. And she was like, yeah, like, which I like that she shamelessly said it because now everybody has to be like, no, it's fine. Short kings, like, which is fine. But it's okay to say also that you want someone taller. So she was like, I want to be baby. She was like, I want to be small. Like I want my feet dangling. I, I don't know why someone would lie about like I'm very much a tall person that I don't think I could have dated someone that was necessarily shorter than me. If they were close in height to me, I would have been like, okay. But one of the things that drew me to my husband when I swiped right on Tinder was that he looked like a big guy. Like in his photos when he was standing next to people, he looked like a big guy. And I was like, oh, that looks, that looks like you were just like kind of like swallow me up in a hug.

Like, we were only on there to, like, mess around. Like, and I don't mean, like, mess around, like, in the way that people think Tinder nowadays. Mess around. I mean it in, like, that we would sit around my friend's apartment and we would swipe. Like, we would all be swiping at the same time and we would. Oh, did you get him? Oh, I got him. You should swipe right. And if you match, like, I talked about this and then you talk about that, or like, there would be guys on there who would, like, of course, have picture after picture of them, like, in the gym, no shirt on, like, absolute washboard abs. There was one kid who had, like, this, like, massive steak photo. And I still remember because I was like, that's. That is not even an impressive piece of meat. Like, things like that. Where I was just like, we're just messing around.

What? So, but you saw Jason. Wait, did you know him because you were an Eagles fan like forever or.

It's interesting. I have always been an Eagles fan with him being not only an offensive lineman, but he was still fairly young when we met. I think it was like his fourth, third or fourth season, just after his third or fourth season. So I didn't. I eventually got to a point where I was like, he kind of looks familiar. But I always tell people, like, you have to take into account that when you see them on Sunday on your tv, they usually always have their helmets on. So, like, how much of their face are you actually seeing consistently? Oh, and he's an offensive lineman, so you.

And at that point he didn't have the podcast. He wasn't as like front facing like today.

So he hadn't done the. What he's known for in Philly, which is the art museum steps for the super bowl speech.

Come to find out he had put a screenshot of a tv like as if someone had taken a picture of him on the TV when. I don't know if it was a preseason game or when he was on IR for an injury. And so he was without a helmet in like Eagles team issued gear, but wasn't uniformed. Tinder at the time was cropping photos to a perfect square. And so the lower third and like the ticker and the graphic at the top with like that it. That indicated that it was a game was all cut out. So it was literally just his face, like this strong beard, his man bun. And that's it. Like, that's all it was. I don't even think that you could see like any bit of the Eagles emblem that was on his shirt in the photo.

Oh my God. So such a, like a dad profile this whole time.

He Thought like, yeah, I, I, I showed people that I was on the Eagles, and I'm like, oh, you don't know how cropping photos works. That's so cute. So we got to the bottom of it, but there was nothing on there that indicated.

Because at the end of the day, I think everybody sees something, which is an annoying word to use, but relatable in you. So they're not looking for, like, you know, the glitz and the glam. They're looking for you to just talk and say it how it is, and that's what you're giving everybody.
