Amanda Hirsch
Welcome back to the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. I'm your host, Amanda Hirsch, and I still can't believe that I get to chat with some of my favorite stars on my very own podcast, where you'll feel like you're just talking shit with your best friends in your living room. Hi, everybody. Happy, happy, happy Tuesday. We are in spring. We are in spring. I'm so excited. I Love Spring. Like, 70 degrees. Give it to me. That's my. That's my comfort zone. Like, when people are, like. You know, when people, like, like to sweat and they, like, when it's like, 85 degrees, I'm not one of those people. Like, I don't need to be sweating. I don't need to be wearing even, like, shorts necessarily. I want, like, a 69. Like, not that kind of 69. Okay? Like a weather 69. Speaking of, like, not that kind of 69. It is wild. I mean, we talk about how all men are the same, but, like, is. If you have, like, a husband boyfriend, are you able to watch anything remotely sexual with them without them getting turned on? It is just like, you know, husband's watching the White Lotus with me. So there was one episode where Chelsea pulls her titty out. Boom. That night, he's like, hey. And I'm like, oh, my God, he saw boob. Then there was another episode where Jackie's character, Michelle Monaghan, I'm. I'm pronouncing that wrong. Anyway, she starts having sex with Valentina or whatever, and it wasn't even that hot of a scene. It was like, kind of, like a funny, kind of sexy moment. Then we get into bed that night. He's like, hey. And I'm like, oh, my God. They just can't. It's wild. Anyway, how is everybody doing? I'm in my Bravo era. Like, I'm in my. This is my season when Summer House is on and. And Southern Charm is on. Like, this is where I live. This is where I live. Speaking of sliving, Paris Hilton is coming out with a skincare beauty line. Whatever. I just feel like it's, like, late for her. You know how, like, so many people are coming out with podcasts now? And then there was, like, all the celebs coming out with skincare, and it's like, how is she not the first? Like, how is she just, like, hopping on? You know what I mean? They're just a lot. But I feel like in every industry, there's just going to be a lot of everything and that doesn't mean that you need to not do what you're doing or that Paris Hill doesn't need a skincare line. Like, okay, how about this? Every industry has a lot of different people doing the same stuff, and there's not a problem in joining that industry and trying to do it too. But, like, you have to have a unique point of view and you have to have something that's, like, special and different about yours. If not, then, like, it's just another skincare line, you know? That's why I was like, if Paris Hilton is doing another a skincare line, it better come with access to her sliving spa or something to make it interesting or like, things that she's learned in this living spa. Maybe she has a lab in this living spa. Anyway, like I said, this is my time to shine because my favorite shows on Bravo are the. Are like Rooney, Southern Charm and Summer House. And right now Southern Charm and Summer House are on and. And I'm committed to both of those. And it is just wild. Like, we're seeing the demise of Craig and Paige happening in both Summer House and Southern Charm, whilst in real life we're seeing the aftermath of the breakup. Which I have to say, I was thinking about it today, and I would have never guessed that they would get messy. Like, they're just not the type of couple that I thought, like, I didn't think they would get married. Like, I really didn't. It looked like anyone with a brain could see, like, she's not planning on moving, he's not planning on moving. Like, even though now he says he's like, was planning on moving and was planning on buying a ring or bought a ring. I don't know. I just didn't see it for them and just didn't seem like it was going there. And listen, the Bravo fandom has a lot of opinions. Some are Team Paige, some are Team Craig. Whatever, whatever you are, it's okay for a relationship to end and move on. But like I said, I was surprised that they chose to. To kind of take it to the streets, if you will, and, like, be kind of like, messy. I wasn't seeing this for them. So I'm kind of shook. I'm kind of shook about how he's talking about. She's talking about it. He's coming for her, she's coming for him. But I guess, like, once one person does that, then the other person kind of has to retaliate or they don't have to and they just stay the bigger person and they look like, you know what I mean? But they're both. Not that they're being messy, but they're just, like, talking about each other, which I didn't see for them, you know, Megan Fox gave birth to a baby. MGK posted it. It looked like Sharna and Brian Austin GRE pretty upset about it because it seemed like from their post they didn't know about it. Then it seemed like from their posts, Ryan Austin Green, which I call bag. So get on the bag train. We're checking in with MGK about when the baby's coming and. And Brian Austin Green even posted that MGK snapped at him and was like, stop asking me. What are you, tmz? I don't trust you, you rat. All this, you child star. And then bag was like, child star? Is that supposed to offend me? Let me tell Leo, okay? Like, with all. Like, you and Leo are not on the same wavelength, my love. You're not in the same. In the same time zone. You're not on the same planet. Love ya. Anyway, you guys, I have a guest today from one of those two shows that I talked about. By the way, aren't you proud of me that I stopped teasing When I said shit was out for 2025, I stuck to it. When I said that my shit is in for 2025, I stuck with it. I said, this is my year of yes. I'm doing all these yes things. When I said, you guys, I'm not going to tease my guests every week and be like, gas, here's this show. I'm not doing it. And I stopped fucking doing it because I was like, I just want to fucking tell you. Like, I want to spring it on you. And I don't want to tell you beforehand, but when it happens, I want to just tell you. So. So Southern Charm, you know it. You love it. Shep is in the house today. Shep is. He's had a season. He's had a season on Southern Charm, okay? From the freckled lips text message to sleeping on the beach in the Bahamas to, you know, now saying some about the Paige and Craig breakup. And in general, he's always been interesting to me because I've watched Southern Charm since the beginning. And he always, you know, seemed so, like, smart to me, but, like a smart guy with a big vocab that makes really terrible decisions and, like, doesn't have his life together. So chatted with him today. I have to say, from meeting him in person, he's, like, pretty charming in a way that's like, you want to kind of help him and you want to gossip with him because he really does love to gossip. Love those kind of dudes that, like, just want to spill the tea. And he, like, has a lot of thoughts. He's like, thinking about, like, what Craig and Austin are wearing to. To. To watch what happens live. And, like, should he get his. She wash his hair tonight?
Shep Rose
Like, he's like, like, I know he.
Amanda Hirsch
Like, did a lot of up in his life and he's like, has misogynistic moments, and I don't like the. That he said about Paige, which I. I bring to him, but he's also like. Like, that's what me and Regina did after we met, and we're like kind of like a little 45 year old baby. Anyway, enjoy my convo with Shep Shepherd.
Unknown Speaker
Rose, if my mom had US magazine or my sister, I would totally. Yeah, totally. Thumb through it. Yeah. It takes, like two seconds to read, by the way.
Shep Rose
And also, you just. We were talking about White Lotus and you just. I was calling her Michelle Moynihan. Yeah, you, like, pronounced it right.
Amanda Hirsch
Probably.
Unknown Speaker
That's because I have a tremendous crush and always have been.
Amanda Hirsch
You've been studying it.
Unknown Speaker
Well, I don't know. She's married.
Shep Rose
Wait, so was that more like. Was that a cooler moment for you to. Because there was a moment with the White Lotus where they said they were copying.
Unknown Speaker
I thought that was incredibly funny, and I'm. I'm glad that it. It exists, let's put it that way.
Shep Rose
And that they know about that means they like the cast. Like, they know about y'all.
Unknown Speaker
They do. And Mike White does and cameo. Very nice. It's very nice. And of course, it's not exactly complimentary. Like, it's like, here's a crazy family. They're just like you, and you're like, well, but I'll. I'll take it.
Shep Rose
You'll take whatever you can get.
Unknown Speaker
No, I mean, it's just funny and it's. And you know what else it tells you a little bit, I guess, is that acting's hard. And to have, like, a touchstone to work off of would be incredibly helpful, I would think.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I. Don't get me started. I was in a movie and I was so bad, and I was like, acting's hard.
Shep Rose
Like, wait, when? First of all, by the way, Sheb, everyone listening to this that knows my acting story knows that I came to the same exact conclusion. Acting is hard.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Like, being on set all day. Trailer lines.
Unknown Speaker
You got to memorize the lines. Not only so in your mind, you're like, what am I gonna say next? But you also have to emote whatever the line is saying.
Shep Rose
Wait, when did you do this? Okay.
Unknown Speaker
As a friend by a hometown friend's father produced a movie in. In the low country in the. In South Carolina. And he was like, yeah, did you want to be in it? And I was like, well, what. What two roles? You're like, you could be a bartender or a banker. And I was like, which one's better? And he said, banker. And I was. I should have been to the bartender. I was like, foreclosures are way up. I was like, what am I talking about?
Shep Rose
Wait, is this out in the world?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it was on, like. It was on, like, Hallmark Channel, I think. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Wait, how old were you?
Unknown Speaker
This was a couple years ago.
Shep Rose
Oh, what's it called?
Unknown Speaker
Well, I know what the working title was, which is really funny. It was called the Final Load.
Shep Rose
Was it supposed to be scary?
Unknown Speaker
No, it's about, like, a drug deal gone awry. It's.
Shep Rose
I can't believe you chose banker. Like, see, you need some guidance sometimes.
Unknown Speaker
Well, yeah. And so I left being like, wow, like, these guys.
Shep Rose
Did it take you a full day to film that?
Unknown Speaker
Well, it's funny. No, it didn't. It was pretty short day, but it was still funny, man. I don't know. I was hoping it got cut, but it exists out there somewhere.
Shep Rose
Did the Bravo fandom find it?
Unknown Speaker
I don't know. I wanted them to. I. I asked them to film it, like, because we were filming at the time.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And we did. And it never went anywhere, unfortunately, because there was too much going on. Oh, sometimes that's a pro.
Shep Rose
Like, yeah.
Unknown Speaker
You're like, oh, but that scene I was in was so good and so like, hilar, which is ridiculous.
Shep Rose
Did you, like, would you take it as far as to, like, text the producer? Be like, what about that day we shot my movie?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Oh, you do you. And then they would just tell you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, well, yeah, you just kind of find out the hard way, which is. You're like, oh, if it didn't happen that episode, then it's not going to see the light of day.
Shep Rose
Was that. So that was one of the moments. You have any other moments like that that you wish me.
Unknown Speaker
So many. I can't even describe it, really. So many?
Shep Rose
Yeah, like, more that show us other stuff that you do.
Unknown Speaker
Just more funny. Just silly, goofy, you know, stuff I'm really proud of.
Shep Rose
You know, they did show. I think there was, like, an Instagram Post about where the girls posted, like, how much fun they were having. I saw that, like, when you guys went on vacay and, like, what we see, it was kind of like what we see versus, like, the actual fun you're having.
Unknown Speaker
There's a show to be made, you know, and you can't. Everything can't make it, and you kind of learn that the hard way and.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And then you're so egocentric, or we all are, I suppose you think, oh, that. How could you cut that scene with me? You know? And you're like, well, you actually have to get to know these other people, too. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
Yeah. So funny this season. Shepherd was pretty loco for you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. You think so?
Shep Rose
I mean, I think in a funny way. Good for us.
Unknown Speaker
That's all I want.
Shep Rose
But for you, did it. Were you able to look at it, like, now that you're. When did you film? It was a year ago.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Quite literally started filming in April of last year and got done in June.
Shep Rose
So are you over the Sienna thing? Was it okay for you to watch it and not.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it was tough to watch and stuff to. To be a part of. But I don't know, I'm. I'm sort of proud that I was completely upfront and honest and. And said what I wanted to say and what I felt at the moment, and how can. How can that be a bad thing, you know, especially in the reality TV world, Like, and. And by the way, I don't distinguish between the two. I'm the same damn way. You know, I don't. I'm not an actor.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Terrible actor, actually. I have. I. I mean, I'm honest to a fault and, you know, and by that, I mean, if you're my friend and I did something embarrassing, like, I'm probably going to tell you about it, even though I'd probably be smart not to.
Shep Rose
Yeah. I mean, what can you tell us about Sienna that we don't know? So you met a few. So you said he started shooting in April. When did you connect?
Unknown Speaker
Okay, we connected in August, the year prior.
Shep Rose
Oh, wow.
Unknown Speaker
So, yeah, and we had, like. Like a bunch of different weekends where we met up and had a lot of fun.
Shep Rose
Mostly in the Bahamas.
Unknown Speaker
No, mostly she came to Austin, Savannah, or. Sorry, Hilton Head, where I'm from. Parents were gone. I had a house party. Austin was there with his girlfriend Audrey, and Rod and Tyler were there. So it was kind of. This is before. Wait, camera around. Those are just my friends.
Shep Rose
Oh, and they met her from before?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And everyone loved her.
Shep Rose
And what was her connection to the south, though? Does she have family there?
Unknown Speaker
She. No. I mean, she's like sixth generation Bahamian.
Shep Rose
So she came for you?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. It. It's actually quite fascinating. I don't know if this means anything to anybody, but she was like, did you know when we first met in Charleston, she came to Charleston. She's like, my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was the mayor of a small town in South Carolina, and he was a loyalist to the crown and had to escape to the Bahamas. And that's how this whole thing started.
Shep Rose
Wow.
Unknown Speaker
I was like, that's fascinating. I love history, by the way.
Shep Rose
So you connected on Raya.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
But every time she came to the south, you were the reason she was coming, because why else would you come?
Unknown Speaker
Correct.
Shep Rose
So she was into this at some point.
Unknown Speaker
Totally.
Shep Rose
Totally.
Unknown Speaker
No, I mean, in the timeline. So then I went down to the Bahamas. I met her mom or sister, and we went out on a boat and waded up to a bar and played volleyball on the beach and had a grand old time. Then she came up to my mountain house, my family's mountain house, and she brought a friend, and I brought a couple friends, and we had a grand old time. But we had, like, a little bit of a falling out that was like, so stupid. But it was just something that. We just got a little argument where I said, I don't see things that way. And she goes, well, you know, and so I said, let's just take a step back because I really enjoyed hanging out with you, and I don't want to have a bad taste in our mouth if we just, you know, and she. She's like, okay. And then. And then she got back to me a month and a half later. We just kind of took a break. And she's like, I. I actually feel pretty strongly. And, you know, I think there's a way we can reconcile. I was like, I feel really strongly too. Like, let's. Let's give it another shot.
Shep Rose
She reached out first after this.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
Shep Rose
That's surprising. Giving, given what we saw.
Unknown Speaker
Exactly. And that's. That's okay. And I'm.
Amanda Hirsch
You're okay with it?
Unknown Speaker
Because I know what happened. You know what I mean? Like, it's okay. Really think. Whatever you think, that's okay.
Shep Rose
What did you. She's obviously gorgeous.
Unknown Speaker
Y. Yeah.
Shep Rose
But, like, when I was watching the episodes with her, I was like, she's really not giving much. Like, where is. Did we see the woman that you, like, fell for so hard? Was it, like just the physical stuff.
Unknown Speaker
No, no, it was, it was great. I mean, and we went to, we went out west skiing, which is hilarious because she's. We went to a tough mountain, Jackson Hole. And, and it's not for beginners. And I was like, are you sure you can handle this? And it was pretty funny. We, we laughed about that a lot because she spent a lot of time on her back just like her poles spread out every these. And I was like trying to help her.
Shep Rose
Oh, so you had like a lot of experience together and.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, we had a lot of fun. And then Palm beach and then Charleston and then out of nowhere this sort of coldness or, and, and, and distance and I mean, it's going to come out in the reunion. When does this come out?
Shep Rose
The reunion is this week, right? Is it a one part or a two part reunion?
Unknown Speaker
Probably a two parter.
Shep Rose
Okay. So this will come out next week.
Unknown Speaker
Anyways, I don't think them stepping out of bounds at all saying that she met someone else in, in the, in the period between when we saw each other and when we were going down to the Bahamas.
Shep Rose
Got you. And never did she say that.
Amanda Hirsch
No time you were there.
Unknown Speaker
She couldn't say it for some reason. I wish she had. I would have, I would have actually been okay with that. I mean, I would have sucked. I mean, it sucked. I knew. I mean, I'm not a dummy, you know. I've been around the block a few times.
Shep Rose
Oh my God. I was trying to think like, I always wonder what's gaslighting and what isn't. She may have been like gas lighting you a little bit because the way it looked like you were saying all the stuff that happened, what you just said, there was a timeline. You had history, you met up, you met her family, you went away together. We're seeing this episode of her looking at you like you crazy.
Amanda Hirsch
Like we're not dating.
Shep Rose
And then that's why you look crazy. Like you look crazy in those episodes, professing love. And all these things where she's saying we hung out. It sounds like she's saying we hung out a couple times. Like chill out. But you're saying that wasn't the case?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Like six long weekends over a six month period. I don't know. I mean, is that, is that nothing? I. It feels like something. I don't do that a lot.
Shep Rose
When she went away with you, were you paying for everything?
Unknown Speaker
That was a point of contention that. But yes is the answer for the most part.
Shep Rose
She.
Unknown Speaker
She hooked. She hooked it up in the Bahamas.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
You know what I mean? But it was a plane ticket situation where she expected every. And I was like, well, I was like, I don't want to pay for the privilege to hang out with anybody, honestly. Like, I'll take care of everything. Don't you worry. Yeah, but like a little meet in the middle situation and, like, you didn't.
Shep Rose
Want her to maybe.
Unknown Speaker
And I think that was a cultural difference, if you want to know the truth. I just. I don't know, you know, I. So I can. I guess that's a. But, you know, like, I love it when girls like, I'll meet you there. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
Like, that's like, it's true. That's.
Unknown Speaker
By the way, that's empowering, too. Right? Like, you don't have. You know what I mean? I don't know. So I don't really.
Shep Rose
Was that the point of contention you were talking about before, that you had a little thing about?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, because she was supposed to come up to the mountains and a day before, and I hired a car to go get her and her friend, and I was like, get on the same flight as him and, you know, then I'll get the car to come and blah, blah, blah. And a day before, she was like, hey, I've been really busy. Can you just grab my flight the day before?
Shep Rose
And I rubbed me.
Unknown Speaker
I did. It rubbed me the wrong way. I was like, that's reckless almost, in my opinion. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
Yeah, that's annoying. I've been really busy. Can you just do it? Did you do it? I did, but then you were mad about it.
Unknown Speaker
I waited till after the weekend and mentioned something to her.
Shep Rose
Okay.
Unknown Speaker
And. And it. And we both were like, hold on.
Shep Rose
Do you think that maybe started the kind of.
Unknown Speaker
No, that was before the reconciliation. That was right before.
Shep Rose
Got you.
Unknown Speaker
And then. Yeah. So then things were going well with the skiing and this and then that. Palm Beach.
Shep Rose
And she also wanted you to come out to the Bahamas with all your friends.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah. She was super excited about. Super excited about the cast trip being in the Bahamas. She's like, I'm going to talk to the head of tourism and we're going to do this. You get.
Shep Rose
And then nothing happened.
Unknown Speaker
And then she. Something happened. Somebody something happened. And I mean, that's not for me to say, but I mean, how did.
Shep Rose
You find this out?
Unknown Speaker
I came back from Europe and you're.
Shep Rose
Traveling all the time. Shop.
Unknown Speaker
I love it. My. My parents and brother and sister and their whole families, we Got a house near Sorrento, Italy.
Shep Rose
Oh, fun.
Unknown Speaker
And I first went to London to see some people and then went to Italy, by the way. Like, so after. After the Bahamas trip, it was like I was. You could have knocked me over the feather. I was just, like, emotionally spent. And so, you know, it was just a lot. And so I kind of cut it off and I didn't think about it much. I mean, of course you think about it some, but you're just like, okay, you know, if that's the way it. It was going to be handled, then I'm. I'm in the. I'm in a good position.
Amanda Hirsch
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Like, you didn't. You weren't the one that did something wrong.
Unknown Speaker
I didn't. I. My conscience is clear. That kind of thing. And not that. Anyway, so I come back from Europe and I get a phone call from either Austin or Whitney, and it was like, hey. I was like, what's up? He's like, you're back on stateside? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm not sure I want to tell you this, but she's dating an NFL football player. She just posted that on TikTok. And I was like, oh, yeah, okay. And so I said, you know, I kind of. I sent her a text, like, you know, nothing hateful. I was just like, guess I had to find this out somehow, some way, you know? So anyhow.
Shep Rose
And what was her response to that?
Unknown Speaker
She. She said something to the effect of like, I was, you know, I'm a story. I was a storyline. I can't believe that. I said, no, you weren't. I said, I came down to the Bahamas to do a bit of a coronation of our relationship. It was going to be amazing. Like, that's not a. There was no negative.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Or nefarious intentions on my part. Are you crazy?
Shep Rose
Like, and if she knew she was going to be a storyline, she could have. You know, maybe she's a better actress than you. Maybe she should have then been like, okay, a little bit.
Unknown Speaker
It was not like that. And you know what? To her credit, she's like, you're right. I'm sorry. I wish I could change a lot of different things. And I was like, okay, cool. Well, thanks for at least saying that. And then we haven't really talked since.
Shep Rose
And is she still with a guy?
Unknown Speaker
I can't answer that because I don't know.
Shep Rose
You don't know?
Unknown Speaker
I heard no.
Shep Rose
You heard? No, I hear. I. I haven't been, like, following her personally, but I do hear that she's been like, you know, she. She does want to have a online presence, if you will.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Right.
Unknown Speaker
She went about it pretty. Not the right way, I would say.
Amanda Hirsch
Right.
Shep Rose
But, like, did that worry you at all in dating or at the beginning? Like, you, I'm sure, have to.
Unknown Speaker
No. I would tell her. I was like. I was like, you only have X amount of followers. I was like, you're, like, you're traveling the world modeling. I was like, you should. I was like, I mean, I've got some suggestions. You. You should be a bigger deal.
Shep Rose
Oh, so you would be supportive of her getting, like, bigger on social media?
Unknown Speaker
Absolutely.
Shep Rose
But you didn't think ever that that was one of the reasons she was, like, with you or.
Unknown Speaker
Well, I mean, just. That's a lot to. To go through or, you know, not go through, but, like, that's a lot of effort just to get a few more followers or a few thousand more followers, so.
Shep Rose
No, you didn't.
Unknown Speaker
I don't care about that. I mean, you know, I think that, like, it's a brave new world. Like, if, like, a lot of people are. I mean, followers are currency. You know, I get it. You know, it's not like I pandered. I got lucky. You know, I fell into the Bravo world. And so I can probably guarantee you, if I wasn't on Bravo, I would have, like, a couple, 3,000 followers, because I'm not, like, diligent about it.
Shep Rose
Yeah. About, like, posting and stuff.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. I'm not giving anybody my makeup tips.
Amanda Hirsch

Hey, I'm Josh Peck. And I'm Ben Soffer. And we're the good guys. On our show, every week, we talk about buzzy pop culture stories, maybe answer a couple of your voicemails and go into a moment of the week that makes you say, what, are you, nuts? And I swear, it's so much better than this promo. Anyway, there's a lot of guys out there, but we're the good ones. Stream good guys every Monday, wherever you get your podcasts, Apple, Spotify, anywhere. Neil. Don't listen.
Amanda Hirsch
And we're back.
Shep Rose
What was the deal with Whitney? Because you guys didn't really explain on the show. Her and Whitney also connected on Ryan.
Unknown Speaker
Yes, before me.
Shep Rose
So she swiped right on him or whatever, I guess. Did that not read you?
Unknown Speaker
No. What?
Shep Rose
Really?
Unknown Speaker
I didn't know her. Like, she thought.
Shep Rose
Yeah, but, like, she could be dating people her age.
Unknown Speaker
That's true. Who knows what people are into? I don't care. I'm older than her, too.
Shep Rose
You are?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
How old is she?
Unknown Speaker
She's 27 now, so I think she's 26.
Shep Rose
And you're, like, super smart guy. We talked about you read for fun.
Unknown Speaker
I do.
Shep Rose
You're into politics?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I just read a Cormac McCarthy. No, I really liked it. The Road.
Shep Rose
It's cool for you. Suggestions, you guys, Your next book club.
Unknown Speaker
Well, it's kind of. It's dystopian, but go ahead.
Shep Rose
Did you. Did what? Like, don't you want to look for somebody that's into the. Those same things?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. No, she's smart, man. Yeah, like.
Shep Rose
Well, I Didn't say she wasn't, but she's just younger and maybe like, she's.
Unknown Speaker
Very educated, fun to talk to. There's a reason I felt that way. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
I mean, because she is gorgeous and you know.
Unknown Speaker
Well, that's, that, that is a definite, I mean, exotic.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And, and I said this on the show. I think, like, there was a part of me, it was like a fantasy. Like, oh. Like this is like, maybe this is what I'm supposed to do. Have this, like another life in another country. And I love the Bahamas, man, I love fishing and surfing and all that stuff. So.
Shep Rose
Yeah. Built up.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
It's kind of like, you know, how your mind do.
Unknown Speaker
A lot of times girls do too. Guys do too. Girls need to know that, like, we're, we're thinking ahead too.
Shep Rose
Depends with who sometimes you are.
Unknown Speaker
Depends with who. Sometimes we're trying to, to leave the situation, but so are girls.
Shep Rose
Right. So this, you built that, like, fantasy and especially for you because maybe, like, you're not so sure about, like the settling down, having a family thing in the South. Like, this was like, oh, this is.
Unknown Speaker
The anti white picket fence.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Right. And which I, I don't just, I don't disdain it, but I, I've scoffed at it before.
Shep Rose
Yeah. Maybe you have a little ante with it.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Let's talk about the shark necklace for a minute.
Unknown Speaker
Okay.
Amanda Hirsch
I, I.
Shep Rose
First of all, on her, everything looks good. So she puts it on and you're like, oh, cute. So, you know, link it or whatever. Yeah, but, but where, where did this come from?
Unknown Speaker
My friend, my, my good friend sold you on it. No, she, it's her company. She goes and she hunts for shark's teeth and makes this, makes jewelry. I'm. My family were huge Shark Week aficionados. Like, we sit together as a family and watch it. And I just love sharks. I know a lot about sharks. Weirdly. I have a lot of books about sharks, so I get excited about like anything shark related.
Shep Rose
Yeah, but you're getting this for a girl enough for you?
Unknown Speaker
It's. Yeah, but I think it's cool. What girl wouldn't want a great white shark's tooth necklace? Is that girl really okay? I don't, I mean, I feel like.
Shep Rose
We like diamonds more. Gold more.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, like a reason. 10,000. Why? I don't know anything about the opposite sex.
Shep Rose
And how weird though, that you got Taylor a different chart.
Unknown Speaker
Yes. Different shark.
Shep Rose
Different shark. But like, you got the same.
Unknown Speaker
Well, Taylor knows.
Shep Rose
Are you getting a discount with this?
Unknown Speaker
Friend A little bit foxy. Foxy fossils. That's what it's called.
Shep Rose
I love. We're shouting her out.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, sure.
Shep Rose
You're getting a discount.
Unknown Speaker
Good person.
Shep Rose
Wait, she hunts for sharks? Like.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, the beach. No, there's. There are a lot of washed up. I mean.
Shep Rose
Oh, ones that are already dead.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, they're washed up in the sand.
Amanda Hirsch
There's place.
Unknown Speaker
No, the teeth fall out. Did you know that sharks lose teeth at an alarming rate? No, there's not a dead shark thing. D too. Yeah. They have rows of teeth because they're always falling out. And then they invariably make it to the shore.
Shep Rose
It's like.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, like layers. Correct. And they're always regenerating to each other.
Shep Rose
Oh, so she finds them.
Unknown Speaker
She finds.
Shep Rose
I'm not saying it's not a cool concept.
Unknown Speaker
Okay.
Shep Rose
I'm saying maybe the next girlfriend gets a different present.
Unknown Speaker
Yes, maybe.
Shep Rose
But Madison.
Unknown Speaker
Maybe a gift certificate.
Shep Rose
Madison said something to you, like off the cuff. You didn't really stay on it, but she said something like, you're not rich enough for her. And you kind of were like, am I not okay? Like, you kind of took it at.
Unknown Speaker
I felt that.
Shep Rose
You felt that. Yeah, that if you were maybe like flying around first class everywhere you go.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And I said that at some point to her, I was like, look, I don't have a private jet, you know, like. And I've got nice stuff and I like to do nice things. I was like, my family, like, we don't. We fly first class only on long flights, you know, like. And we don't drive Mercedes and stuff like that. That's just not who we drive.
Shep Rose
Like a Skoda. Skoda.
Unknown Speaker
A Buick.
Shep Rose
A Buick. Yeah. You're you.
Unknown Speaker
That's just not how the generation. Generationally we. That. That's just like a big. No. No in my family. Like, ostentatious. Flashy.
Shep Rose
Got you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
It's like old money v. New money.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Just get what you need, you know.
Shep Rose
Don'T also like your. How like your. Even the mountain house, like, nothing is like flashy.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, Opulent. Yeah, Opulent.
Shep Rose
Opulent. You know what? Now you're bringing me back with all these big words. Opulent. I know. I didn't know the first one. What was the first one? No, that I know.
Unknown Speaker
Ostentatious.
Shep Rose
Oh, that I knew maybe. Opulent. I didn't.
Unknown Speaker
Opulent. Yeah.
Shep Rose
What does that mean?
Unknown Speaker
Just over the top and gold plated. Kind of love it. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Yeah. Because I remember watching you, like from season one, and I always thought your Vocab was, like, so impressive.
Unknown Speaker
Thanks, Mom.
Shep Rose
And that's from reading.
Unknown Speaker
It's from reading and mom.
Shep Rose
Oh, thanks, Mom. I thought you were calling me mom. Oh, like it's a mom comment.
Unknown Speaker
No, no, no.
Shep Rose
Oh, thanks to your mom.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Like, at the dinner table, it was. It was vocab tests, basically.
Amanda Hirsch
Oh, really?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Okay, so the whole time you're on this vacation, your ex, Taylor is there.
Unknown Speaker
Which is really awkward.
Shep Rose
Might I say. Might I say she handled it classy as fuck?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
Shep Rose
You don't think so?
Unknown Speaker
No, no, no. There was a big argument that didn't get aired. Not between me and her. I think she. Look, I. Taylor, the Taylor I met and I dated is. Is very sympathetic, empathetic, sweet, kind, and all those things. So I. I mean, I. I agree with you. She handled it better than sitting at.
Shep Rose
That table and seeing.
Unknown Speaker
I could tell that was not okay. Like, I. I felt that. And I was sitting there, I'd look over and I was just like, this isn't fair, basically. But, yeah, it's okay. Well, I mean, and I guess it. It helped that she kind of knew that things were on the rocks and she just was like.
Shep Rose
Well, yeah, it would feel worse for her if, like, Sienna was, like, professing her love back. That would have been more here.
Unknown Speaker
She was kind of like, see you later.
Shep Rose
Yeah. But also, it must have heard that maybe she hadn't felt that love from you. Like, that kind of, like, strong fighting for you, love.
Unknown Speaker
No telling what was going through her mind. I agree with that.
Shep Rose
But what was the fight you were talking about?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, it was between Sally and Taylor. You know, just a. Oh, about the. About everything. You know, but it was, I guess, you know, I'm okay with that. Not making it, frankly, because it's kind of.
Shep Rose
Was it about you?
Unknown Speaker
No, it was just. It was just, you know, I. I was just like, oh, God, we kind of are. But, you know, you have this moment, that moment, and I'd rather skew towards humor and. And wittiness.
Shep Rose
So. Seeing your text to Sienna.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
With the freckled lip getting, like, really just, like, ripped apart. Talked about, like, crinoline, like, all the things. How did that make you feel watching it?
Unknown Speaker
I. I mean, I probably was a little too verbose on the text. It should have trimmed that down. I need an editor, so. Yeah, but I. It was tough, man. I mean, I. It's hard to explain because, like, this whole trip was riding on me being like. It was, again, supposed to be sort of a coronation. Right. And it was Totally not that. So it's stressful. Stressful. You were stressed and I couldn't sleep and everyone else was asleep. So what do you do at 6:30am While, you know, no one's up for two more hours? You maybe get some breakfast and then you're like, I have these things I want to say to her because I was convinced that, like, she was ignoring the way that we felt about each other. Two weeks prior.
Shep Rose
Yeah, two weeks.
Unknown Speaker
And I was like, are you sure? You know, I was almost, like, trying to shake her a little bit. Like, hey, come on. Like, yeah, all these things, you know, and that. That she lost that love and feeling just like that song the Everly Brothers.
Shep Rose
What do you think about. The commentator is saying? Because, like, I, for one, when I posted about watching, I said, like, that I feel so bad for you, you know, in that situation, because I'm human. There's another human, you know, hurting. I feel bad. A lot of the Bravo fans, like we talked about before, are. Have a lot of opinions.
Unknown Speaker
Sure.
Shep Rose
And they were kind of like, he's getting a taste of his own medicine. How do you take that?
Unknown Speaker
I agree.
Shep Rose
Really?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. I'm okay with that. And, I mean, I'd like to think I'm not sort of pull the rug out from underneath someone capriciously like that.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
But I've. I've been not so great in. In the past.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And I believe in the karmic universe. And I also. I wasn't angry about feeling that way. I. I was hurt, but I was like. I don't know if you've heard, like, these quotes, like, it makes you feel alive, you know, and. And it. And it humbles you and it. It shows you. If everything went your way all the time. What kind of life is that? I mean, I don't know. Ask. There's some people. I guess you could ask that too. But it teaches you a lot, you know, when things don't go your way and. And yeah. So I think I came out of better because. Yeah, yeah.
Shep Rose
Your friends were trying to help you there. Do you think? Craig was very much adamant about what you should and shouldn't do?
Unknown Speaker
He was callous, to say the least.
Shep Rose
I mean, was he too hard on you?
Unknown Speaker
I just think he was just. I mean, it's funny because he. At first, when this was all going down, like before we went to the Bahamas, Austin was like, nope, this isn't the one. You know, this isn't right. And Craig. And Craig was like, I don't know. Like, you know, and Those roles. Yeah, reverse. Which I. I find kind of funny. Looking back.
Shep Rose
Did you take it as he's being a good friend or were you like, calm down, like, let me live my life.
Unknown Speaker
Well, I was like, Craig, man, like, I didn't ask for this, but here we are, you know, like, I'm sorry your vacation's being a little bit hindered by, you know, my drama and trust me, go do whatever you like and go have fun. But I was so mixed up in the head that I don't. I wasn't thinking right. That's for sure.
Shep Rose
And sometimes you have to just learn it on your own, not because someone told you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah.
Shep Rose
What about falling asleep on the.
Unknown Speaker
Turns out they were. A lot of the people were. Right. And by that I mean I didn't know what to invite her to. I felt responsible. And I mean, we were there because of her. So I was. Had this like, does she want. What is she? And she was, you know, like, what are you guys doing? And I was just like. But it turns out if she was at everything that we did, it would have like, totally sort of screwed the trip up.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Like, you know, because there are other people, you know, you're. I'm not the center of the universe. And.
Shep Rose
And it was awkward in moments where, like, you were ready on the rocks with her. She wasn't answering the tag, whatever. And then she was invited to the dinner.
Unknown Speaker
That's right. And. But I had fun, you know, against all odds on like the boat trip, you know, because I got to laugh and think about other things and jump in the ocean, which is like a favorite pastime of mine.
Shep Rose
What happened with the falling asleep on the beach?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah, I just. It was a long night.
Shep Rose
Was that.
Unknown Speaker
That was the night after the dinner maybe. Yeah, it was just a long day and I. I ran out of gas and fell asleep on a beach chair.
Shep Rose
Like, on the beach chair?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Amanda Hirsch
Did you wake up in the morning.
Shep Rose
Or in the middle of the night?
Unknown Speaker
I woke up at like 5:30am and couldn't go back to sleep. Ta da. You know.
Shep Rose
Did you. Were you super drunk?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah.
Shep Rose
Oh, yeah, Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I mean, I was drowning my sorrows.
Shep Rose
You. I feel like you got like fitter, right?
Unknown Speaker
I did.
Shep Rose
Like going into this season even we see you like more into did.
Unknown Speaker
I was working out a lot and I. I like exercise and I have a trainer and I really like him. By the way, he's Austin Craig's trainer too. We. We don't always go together, but when we do, we have a lot of fun.
Shep Rose
How many times a week do you work out?
Unknown Speaker
If I'm in town, four to five.
Shep Rose
Oh, really? And before, were you working out at all?
Unknown Speaker
Not much, really. And I eat and I eat like poke bowls and like. And fish and chick and grilled chicken and like, I just think about it.
Shep Rose
Really.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And I lost like £20.
Shep Rose
Horace men do the least and just lose, like. And you're like, no, more like chocolate. That's it. You lose £20?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, no, more like pizza. Even though I'll. I'll break down and eat some pizza every now and then.
Shep Rose
And what about the drinking?
Unknown Speaker
I cut down. And I'm happy to say that it's not a perfect landing. Old habits die hard. And I. But, you know, and then. But I'm hard on myself and I'm really thinking about it in certain situations where before it was like, you want to make an omelet, you got to break some eggs kind of thing. And I'm not like that anymore. And I still up. I fully understand that. And just trying to minimize all that and. And try to be the best version, but it's not. And you know, I think about. Think about it a lot. You know, if. If one day it's like, this is too much, then I'll have that honest, tough conversation with me, with myself, you know, and. And. But, you know, it's crazy these days. I don't know if you know this. Like, the alcohol sales have dipped dramatically. This next generation of people aren't. Aren't drinking, doing it. But boy, our. And at least mine. Like, that was it. You know, you got a case of beer or a bottle of whiskey and. And see where the night took you kind of thing. So it's.
Shep Rose
It's interesting how when you're not drinking, you don't. Usually when someone doesn't drink, the old thing would be like, are you pregnant? Or if it's. It's a guy or whatever.
Amanda Hirsch
It's like, oh, are you sober?
Shep Rose
Like, do you have a problem now? It's like so many people just order a soda.
Unknown Speaker
You know, they're California, so the California.
Shep Rose
So whatever.
Unknown Speaker
So it's interesting the tide is turning in that way. But. And I was talking about this to my friend who's sober. I've got a few friends that are sober that they were the most fun guys. Like, were.
Amanda Hirsch
Now they're not anymore. No.
Unknown Speaker
Well, they had. Yeah, they moved on to another phase, and they're still funny as hell. But, you know, we just had some wild times. And I was like, I Was like, what happened? Like, I don't remember our parents, friends, like people talking about them. Maybe it was just, hey, that's the crazy dad's friend who's here at the dinner party. Is not making much sense.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I was like, isn't it like. And he was like, yeah, he's like. People were way less sweeping under the. Way more sweeping things under the rug for many years there. Yeah. I'm just happy that it's being talked about.
Shep Rose
And I and Craig talked about it on the show.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I. I follow. Like, you know, John Mayer talks about it a lot and all. A lot of Josh Brolin, like Brad, you know, like, there's all these.
Shep Rose
Oh, right. Yeah. They're all kind of sober.
Unknown Speaker
It's pretty wild. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And are you afraid you wouldn't Bradley Cooper. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Sober.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Are you afraid you wouldn't have as much fun if you were. Weren't drinking?
Unknown Speaker
I mean. Yeah, that's a fear. I mean, I'm pretty talkative as it is.
Shep Rose
As it is. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
You can see. So. Yeah. I mean, maybe it's a thing where I. I've been thinking when I'm home at least like.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Take like, take like six days off twice a month, you know, and just like totally just chill out.
Shep Rose
Just drinking when you go out.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I don't by myself at home.
Shep Rose
Okay. Okay.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
So it's just going out and it's.
Unknown Speaker
Being in bars, you know, a lot.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And which is easy to do in Charleston, especially when football seasons happening, stuff like that.
Amanda Hirsch

Shep Rose
Is this the life you could have imagined for yourself? Like. Well, 44, 45. Wait, you turned 45?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I'm 45.
Shep Rose
When'd you turn it?
Unknown Speaker
September.
Shep Rose
Oh yeah. Okay.
Unknown Speaker
Is this okay? So this was my life for many years.
Shep Rose
Well, when did you start filming? When you were how old?
Unknown Speaker
33. Started filming.
Shep Rose
Wait, that is literally insane. Southern charm is on for. I can't do the math. Fit.
Unknown Speaker
Well, it's been 10 seasons but it's taken 12 years to film all those because it's just the timeline or whatever. But like what?
Shep Rose
What? I always think about revolving doors. You know that movie?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Sliding doors.
Unknown Speaker
Sliding.
Shep Rose
I always, I always think about that.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
So like what would have been so.
Unknown Speaker
Like when my friends who we were all wild. I mean all the weddings were. Were shit show and you know, and everybody's getting married and get their jobs were getting serious. I guess if I wasn't. If this hadn't come along I'd be like I'd have to go down that path. Maybe not. I mean I don't have to get married but I have a job or a 9 to 5 that would really.
Shep Rose
Did you have a 9 to 5 before charm?
Unknown Speaker
I have had, yeah.
Shep Rose
What was it?
Unknown Speaker
I worked for a home builder down in Florida and then I went to business school and then worked in Dubai for A little bit. And then I tried to start a business like a franchise, this restaurant. And it was the one yard line. I got kind of screwed. And then the show came around. So it's funny how things work, right? One door closes, another opens.
Shep Rose
Were you. So Shep has. Shep. Craig has the sewing on South.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Austin has the hop trop chop hop.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. I started a company called Shep Gear.
Amanda Hirsch
I remember that.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
And I was it like merch.
Unknown Speaker
It was hats and shirts.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I saw, I did. It did. Okay. To Craig's credit, he, I. And he'll admit this, like I showed him one day my Spotify or Shopify. I was like, look how much it's a pretty good month. And he was like, oh my God. And so when his thing got going, he, he surround, he. He smartly surrounded himself with some people, business minded folks and off to the races. So good for him. You know, I hope. I wish him and Austin all the best. I just wrote another book, so I'm very excited about that.
Shep Rose
When's it coming out?
Unknown Speaker
I don't know yet because I just turned in the first draft. I've got other stuff. I've got some, A lot of editing.
Shep Rose
What is it going to be about?
Unknown Speaker
It's about my experience doing ayahuasca in Costa Rica and what led to it and the aftermath.
Shep Rose
So can you give us like a tease? Like what led to it and what's the aftermath? Well, I mean doing it is crazy.
Unknown Speaker
It was just so funny. It was like white lotus.
Shep Rose
Were you by yourself?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it was like a little white lotusy. Right. Like you were surrounded by people you didn't know with different past, different opinions and angles.
Shep Rose
Scary. Are you anxious going into these things?
Unknown Speaker
No, because I mean I've done a lot of psychedelics so I, I've been to some weird places and I. So it helped me because it was pretty, it was pretty wild that some of the visions I had and I write all about them and because I had a journal next to me and I mean you should see the journal. It's like, it's absolutely nonsense.
Shep Rose
Oh my God, this is giving me anxiety.
Unknown Speaker
No, but I did four nights in a row. That's what you're supposed to do.
Shep Rose
What?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
So are you ever not tripping all day? Oh, during the day you're not tripping.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. You're doing like yoga and breathing exercises. Very, very Kumbaya.
Shep Rose
And then ayahuasca at night.
Unknown Speaker
And then everybody shares their experience, which was fascinating. Absolutely fascinating. And also very eye opening and revelatory. Because there's so much trauma and pain in this world. You have no idea. Like, I am the luckiest SOB on earth. That was one of my takeaways. One of them.
Shep Rose
Like, you didn't have trauma come up in these things.
Unknown Speaker
Mom and dad. Fantastic. God, you couldn't have been better. Brother, sister. Thank you. Love you.
Shep Rose
Wow.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
So you are lucky.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And I'm.
Shep Rose
Maybe it's not for you. You're like, I'm good.
Unknown Speaker
No, the people that. The people that went that, like, confronted the trauma, it was. I. I'll give you. I mean, there's so many examples, but I had a grown man cry in my arms the next day because his father was this. And. And he was able to confront that, but he said, but I'm better than ever because of it. Does that make sense?
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And then just a lot of other stuff that you're just like, oh, my God, it gives me goosebumps.
Shep Rose
Would you do it again? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And so the title is after the first night. Working title.
Shep Rose
After the first night.
Unknown Speaker
First night of doing ayahuasca. I took four cups. Of course, I was there for drinking to, you know, like, over. Overdoing it with excessive behavior. But they asked you to drink two, and then they say the bar is open. So after the 4th, I knew, like.
Shep Rose
Like, wait, this is shots of ayahuasca?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it's little. Like, little.
Shep Rose
So they said, do two, and you.
Unknown Speaker
It's like a purple liquid. Did.
Shep Rose
So you did four. They said two.
Unknown Speaker
They said two. And then. And then if you can. If you. If. As much as you want after.
Shep Rose
What do you mean, as much as there was?
Unknown Speaker
No, because there was, like, girls there and stuff who, like, weigh half as much as I do. Right. So they're like, we asked you to do two, but then you can do as many as you want. But, like, I never did more than four. That first night. I did four because I was like, let's see what this is all about. You know?
Shep Rose
Did you go down the next nights or go.
Unknown Speaker
So I go back to my journal. I knew right away that I was like, it was in for it. And. And I. I wrote down in my journal, why must I always lick the.
Shep Rose
That's the title.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Do you like it?
Shep Rose
I do.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. It's Winnie the Pooh with the honey pot stuck on his head. Yeah. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Why must I always lick the jar.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Do we have an answer?
Unknown Speaker
I have another answer that it's. What. What does it mean to follow your heart? I wrote down follow on my chest and drew an arrow to my heart. I was all.
Shep Rose
When you were tripping. Oh, my Jesus.
Unknown Speaker
And I was like, get a tattooed now. I know. I thought about it. I don't have any. And do it upside down to the follow, like right there.
Shep Rose
Do what you.
Unknown Speaker
The way I drew it.
Shep Rose
Do what you drew?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
I was thinking about that color.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Commemorate it.
Unknown Speaker
It's like, inside my nipple.
Shep Rose
You should have having someone take a picture. Do you have a picture with it on you? No, with the, with the thing you.
Unknown Speaker
Drew what I wrote?
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. No, it washed away. I sweated and stuff.
Shep Rose
Okay. Oh, my God. I. The anxiety. This brings me. Like, I could never.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. So, yeah, I had some.
Amanda Hirsch
And you're like a nervous person.
Shep Rose
Like, your leg shakes all the time.
Unknown Speaker
I'm always like this. I'm a live wire there.
Shep Rose
Is it anxiety?
Unknown Speaker
No, it's hereditary.
Shep Rose
Okay.
Unknown Speaker
My whole mom's side of the family.
Shep Rose
Okay. So it's not like you're a nervous person. You're chill with some shakes.
Unknown Speaker
Always have to move.
Shep Rose
Always have to move.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Adhd.
Shep Rose
Did girlfriends ever get annoyed with you?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah. Especially when I sleep because I'm like a jittery sleep.
Shep Rose
Oh, my God. Okay. Taking it away from ayahuasca for a minute.
Unknown Speaker
Okay.
Shep Rose
Came up on my Instagram the other day on the after show. You were verbose.
Unknown Speaker
Yes.
Shep Rose
About. Did you regret it? You. I'll say what. It was first, but you went off on Page.
Unknown Speaker
Not off on her. I just.
Shep Rose
Just saying she should have come to the trip.
Unknown Speaker
I, I, Yeah, I should have said it. I mean, you get your point across when you're calm. Right. I, I was just a little fired up. Of course, this was fresh off of Craig's after the breakup.
Shep Rose
Oh, so you were a little angry for him.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, And I was just like, look, I mean, you know, we're. They're both on a channel and they've gotten. They've done very well for themselves, and they dated and I was. And I was happy for them. I just wish that I got to know her a little better, you know?
Shep Rose
You don't. You didn't get.
Unknown Speaker
Not really, no.
Shep Rose
In the two and a half years, exactly how many times have you hung out?
Unknown Speaker
Once or twice.
Shep Rose
Really?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
With Austin. Did she. Did she hang out with him more? Oh, no.
Unknown Speaker
I thought, not according to him. But then they had the drama. Here's the other thing. Craig and Austin were on Winter House and a little bit of Summer House. So I get, if you want to say that if you want to say.
Shep Rose
That, if you want to count that.
Unknown Speaker
If you want to say that, that's fine.
Shep Rose
You wish you would have given you guys a little more time.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Because I. Look, I love our show. Like, that's my. My baby, you know, and.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And we're all in this together in the Bravo boat. Right? So I think. Yeah. I mean, I feel bad when I see Craig at the finale, last finale episode. He's looking handsome in a boat in a tie, and he's sitting at the bar by him. Like, that's. That sucks, you know, because that's the girl that you're supposed to. I mean, that. You were very into it, but she.
Shep Rose
I mean, to. In her defense, she had, like, other things going on at each of.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, well, what about this trip or this party, this thing?
Shep Rose
Maybe she just doesn't want to come.
Unknown Speaker
Maybe that's okay, though. And maybe they're the smart ones. Maybe they're the ones putting boundaries. Yeah. That said, most of these Bravo relationships end terribly. Let's try to curate it a little bit more.
Shep Rose
What about. What. Okay, so some commenters were saying. You're saying this about Paige, but Audrey didn't come.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, well, Audrey's not a TV star who's made a lot of money and gotten a lot of perks from.
Shep Rose
Oh, you were talking about the fact that she's a Bravo.
Unknown Speaker
Well, yeah. And so, like.
Shep Rose
And so the same you would say about, like, Gaston.
Unknown Speaker
He's not a. Paid. He's not paid by Bravo. Yeah.
Amanda Hirsch
I mean, that's your point.
Unknown Speaker
But. And that's a choice. And, you know, Cameron's husband was a. Is an anesthesiologist who didn't want to be on tv.
Shep Rose
But you brought Taylor on tv.
Unknown Speaker
I did. I did.
Shep Rose
And she was great.
Unknown Speaker
She was great.
Shep Rose
She's now on the show.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Do you sometimes think about that? That, like, she came in as your girlfriend and kind of is her own.
Unknown Speaker
That's fine. Yeah. Because I guarantee you Bravo wouldn't have her around if they didn't think they. That she brought something. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Did you think it was a good idea? Like, how'd you feel about Olivia leaving the show?
Unknown Speaker
I. Well, there was just not that much more to. To beat that horse with. You know what I mean? But, yeah, it's nothing against Page, and I'd like to say, like, I've never said a bad word about Paige and either has anyone in the cast that I can. That I know of. I don't follow all these blogs and. And all these Instagram Sites. It was just. And I'm not the only one who felt that way, by the way. And that goes for high up, up and down the food chain who's associated with our show. Like. Like, we wish that we got a.
Shep Rose
Little more, because, you know, that that equals views.
Unknown Speaker
No, no, that equals authenticity. And, like, how do you feel about each other? And, like, we got it from Craig, God bless him. And he. And he was, you know, and I just. I thought it would be interesting if she went on, like, a girls lunch with the girls on our show, known Craig, and been like, hey, tell us. Tell us your opinion, because I never heard hers.
Shep Rose
Got you.
Unknown Speaker
I heard it on the podcast.
Shep Rose
She had a moment at the pool party where she was sitting with the girls, but it wasn't really about that.
Unknown Speaker
It wasn't about. Yeah, which is fine. Which is fine. And I. You can't make someone be friends with anyone else. That's ridiculous.
Shep Rose
Right?
Unknown Speaker
But I don't know, like, in the spirit of. Of what we're doing here.
Shep Rose
Yeah, I got you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
And in terms of the breakup, obviously, the fans are besides themselves. A lot of them say they saw it coming. A lot of them are flabbergasted. You and Austin seem to have seen it coming.
Unknown Speaker
Austin way more than me.
Shep Rose
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Because he had seen her. He had seen Craig in one of their live shows somewhere, like, around the time where I guess it was disintegrating and he was despondent. And so, I don't know. I mean, I thought it was, you know, he wanted to get married. And there was that episode where they were at the Animal Farm or whatever. That was pretty. That was the one, like, interaction where I was like, oh, I know a little bit more than. Than I. Than I knew, you know, before, you know, and like, again, that's. That's kind of our job.
Shep Rose
But what do you think about everyone? Like, the comments you say, don't read them. A lot of people are saying that it's looked like Craig didn't, like, support her career because he didn't want her to be busy all the time. And it seemed like he wanted more of a housewife vibe.
Unknown Speaker
Well, that's two. Two separate needs. A lot of women would absolutely jump at that. Right?
Shep Rose
Yeah. And so they're on different pages.
Unknown Speaker
They were on diff. Different pages. Nice one. No, So I. But. But. But saying that, like, if. Of a man or a woman in either scenario was like, I'm gonna be really busy. I'll be traveling a lot. It's perfectly natural to be like, well, what does this mean for our relationship? That is like a conversation that's happening all over the world at any particular time, you know? So I don't think, I mean, I don't think Craig has one misogynistic bone in his entire body. I mean, yeah, I get he's a traditionalist.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
But, I mean, that's not, like, a crime, I don't think.
Shep Rose
I mean, it seems this is less to do with you, but it does seem like she's saying now and in places that, that he didn't actually like. Aside from that conversation, she didn't find.
Amanda Hirsch
Him supportive of her career.
Shep Rose
But that's, I, I, I can't say.
Unknown Speaker
What, what, how she thinks, but that seems a little flimsy to me. But whatever, it's fine.
Shep Rose
Another thing that I loved about this season is you and Madison are like friends now.
Unknown Speaker
I know, it's crazy.
Shep Rose
Do you remember how you used to be?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah. Like, oh, yeah, she rubbed me the wrong way. Big time.
Shep Rose
I think she, I, I would say, and correct me if I'm wrong, she was one of the people that you were like, like, not nice to. And you're usually like, nice to people, but you were always, like, you were so mad at her for, like, Austin or something.
Amanda Hirsch
For many seasons.
Unknown Speaker
Yep. Austin was the beginning of it. And then there were certain things maybe that, that y'all didn't see, things that were said, and it just was. Yeah, it's okay, though. We kind of decided if you can't beat them, join them kind of situation. And, and first of all, and secondly, I was like, like, you know, I pulled her aside and I was like, hey, like, I know, like, your, your personality is to be a little confrontational, a little sassy. I was like, but you're doing really well. You got this husband, you raising your kid. You, you, you don't have to be that way, you know? Like, I'm not saying that she was performing, but, like, yeah, I, I was giving her friendly advice. Like, like, you're killing it. Like, yeah, go kill it. Don't worry. Don't worry about anyone else. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Shep Rose
Like, you think maybe she softened a little bit?
Unknown Speaker
I think so.
Shep Rose
Could be.
Unknown Speaker
I do.
Shep Rose
Not that you're taking credit for it.
Unknown Speaker
I did, too. Too. No, no, no. I did too. I was like, that was a part of, like, my experience going to Costa Rica and stuff. It's like big time, live and let live, you know?
Shep Rose
Do you think after all this is Taylor, Is she still with Gason I guess so.
Unknown Speaker
I guess so. We're. We.
Shep Rose
Do you have it all?
Unknown Speaker
We have reconciled. We reconciled at the reunion. As much as I think she is willing to do, I'm very happy to report that I. I would. I would, you know, be very, very happy if she's happy. That's. And for the rest of her life. That would make me happy.
Shep Rose
You would never see yourselves getting back together.
Unknown Speaker
I don't think so. I mean, that's. Yeah, I don't think so.
Shep Rose
Why wasn't she the one in the end? Because you guys seem to. It seemed like you found such a good one, you know?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. I mean, it's a lot of my fault and a lot of my fault. And when I look back at it, I cringe, you know, because just some of the stuff that I put her through. Yeah. And like, we had a lot of fun too. Just, like, wild nights where, like, she's like, I can't. You know, I can't keep up. And so I just put her in a taxi, you know, like, I'll be back when I'm back kind of thing. And just like, selfish, wild man, not protective behavior.
Shep Rose
Do you regret it?
Unknown Speaker
Yes. But it was who I was at the time. I. I couldn't be reasoned with, honestly.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And I. I thought. I thought it was all, again, an anomaly, it. Breaking eggs, you know, I was like, whatever. I just. And I hadn't been in a relationship in a very long time.
Shep Rose
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
So, yeah, it's. And I mean, I fully admit, like, if the version of myself over the past year, who knows what would have happened? Because we came. I came close to popping the question, that's for sure.
Shep Rose
Do you think if you came to her right now and said, I did an ayahuasca trip.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, I don't think that would be smart.
Shep Rose
Not smart, but. Do you. Is there a world in which you think she would say, okay?
Unknown Speaker
I don't think so.
Shep Rose
Really?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
I feel like she'll always have, like, love for you.
Unknown Speaker
I hope so. I hope so, because I'll. That's how I feel.
Shep Rose
Do you think she let go of the anger?
Unknown Speaker
I think time will. Time will bring that, and it usually does.
Shep Rose
Do you have any jealousy about her and.
Unknown Speaker
No, just concern. You know, I just want. I want her to be happy and, And. And I want her to be fulfilled and. And all those things.
Shep Rose
Yeah. Molly, does that. Does it go anywhere? We saw a little kiss, a little smoochie.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. We had a couple fun times shortly after the finale, and then I went to Europe for a month and a half, you know, and, you know, wasn't terribly communicative.
Shep Rose
Why not? Molly?
Unknown Speaker
I don't know.
Shep Rose
Everyone's looking. I know she's into you. She's a cutie, she's funny, she's smart.
Unknown Speaker
Well, then she, but then when I came back, like she was seeing someone else. And which is fine. Right? And it just didn't materialize, but I, I think the world of her. And she's so funny, so self deprecating, so honest. I love that, all these things. Yeah.
Shep Rose
Sally was seen with Craig at like Nobu or something.
Unknown Speaker
That was with his, like, that was a late dinner with his like his like business manager.
Shep Rose
Okay, so it wasn't anything like, that was nothing.
Unknown Speaker
I almost chimed in. I saw that post and I was like, shep, this isn't what you do. Stay the f out of it. And here I am stepping all in it with the page done. But I didn't say anything.
Shep Rose
I, I, I, you, you seemed, I think it's not what you said. Maybe it's how you said it. Like, it seemed like you were angry about it. If you would have explained it like you did here, like, bravo, bravo. But I think at that after show you seemed like heated about it.
Unknown Speaker
I, I kind of, I was at the moment because I was just like, I was like, man, we, we've all taken our relationship lumps. But, but, but yeah, again, I, I'll reiterate, like, maybe they're the ones that are smarter than us all, you know.
Shep Rose
At the end of the day, they broke up, so.
Unknown Speaker
Well, that's true. That's true. And you know, as a, if you're a fan, I wonder what your, your feeling on that is, you know, like, I wish we'd have seen some, some stuff or you know, like some fissure which can be repaired always, I guess. I don't know.
Shep Rose
Do you think Austin and, and Audrey are going to get married?
Unknown Speaker
I don't know. Can't answer that. That.
Shep Rose
Which one of you will get married first? You, Craig or also?
Unknown Speaker
Well, I'm, I'm not really. I'm sort of looking. I'm actively looking. In a good way. Yeah, I'm optimistic.
Shep Rose
Are you still on Raya?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, but I'm not very active on that.
Shep Rose
So where are you looking?
Unknown Speaker
Just going to visit friends and so, yeah, I mean, yeah, I meet people and Organically. Organically.
Shep Rose
If I can like hit on girls.
Unknown Speaker
At bars, friends of friends or something like that.
Shep Rose
Being introduced and stuff.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And yeah, some of the latter or.
Shep Rose
Former what is your, like, your mom? Is she, like. Like, sheppy? When am I gonna see some grandkids?
Unknown Speaker
She doesn't really care. She's got five grandkids, and she's. My dad are getting older. Like, they can't help out the way that they did with my. With my niece. Nieces and nephew.
Shep Rose
Uhhuh.
Unknown Speaker
So it's okay. It's. Everything's.
Amanda Hirsch
You're okay with it?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. My dad finds everything I do quite amusing.
Shep Rose
But do you want kids one day?
Unknown Speaker
Sure.
Shep Rose
Oh, you do?
Unknown Speaker
Sure.
Shep Rose
Maybe you'll be Robert Da's age. Like, who knows?
Unknown Speaker
Was.
Shep Rose
I hope not that living.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. I hope not that old.
Shep Rose
He's out here.
Unknown Speaker
It might be the best thing that, you know, marriage and kids might be exactly what I need. Almost, like, talk about, like, a mechanism to keep you honest and keep you focused on something other than yourself and chasing your own whims and happiness. I think that that's kind of a lovely thought to have. Of course it's a lot of work. I'm not saying it's just, like, a state of mind, but I think it's. It could be incredibly rewarding in so many different ways.
Shep Rose
So you're looking?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Shep Rose
Okay, well, girls, Shep is single. He's a lookin'okay.
Unknown Speaker
Please nobody come after me. I'm really just trying to be honest and say how I feel. Okay.
Shep Rose
Come after you in what way?
Unknown Speaker
I don't know. Whatever I said over the past hour.
Shep Rose
Yeah, just in general. Disclaimer.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, don't, like, attack me on the street, please.
Shep Rose
Do you ever get attacked in the street?
Unknown Speaker
No, no, no. In fact, I almost get zero negative encounters. Everyone's really happy and personal.
Shep Rose
I feel like negativity just is online.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it's just like. Like, it's like. It's like interviews with athletes. It's like when they say something real, you get. Everyone gets pissed off, but when they give you a canned answer, everyone gets pissed off that they're not saying something real. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
You can't. You can't win. You can't lose. What's the saying?
Unknown Speaker
Can't win for losing?
Shep Rose
No, but Chef just makes everything, like, more, like, fancier.
Amanda Hirsch
You can't.
Shep Rose
You can't win.
Unknown Speaker
For enhancer.
Shep Rose
Thank you for coming on, Chef. I've wanted to talk to you for years. Honestly. Yeah, like, since I. I. Since 20. What? Nah. What? Sally being on many shows. Paige, new boyfriend.
Unknown Speaker
Oh.
Shep Rose
She wants to know what you think about.
Unknown Speaker
I've only seen what you've seen. Which is like pictures of. Of, like in a. Like a blurry picture of somebody holding hands. I'm like, I'm sorry, that doesn't mean much to me. And. But by the way, if that's. If she finds happiness, please, please find happiness.
Shep Rose
I agree. I always say this, like, when people get divorced or break up, I'm happy.
Unknown Speaker
It's better. You want to continue a charade, even if it's one for one person. It wasn't for one person. Maybe it was, you know, in whatever.
Shep Rose
Like non TV tv, if people end up ending a relationship, it's probably because it fucking wasn't good.
Unknown Speaker
And when you get blindsided, it's the worst. And Craig, you know, and I think Craig felt blindsided, but he's handled it really, really classy and I'm proud of him for that. And. And you know, again, we all have a TV show to make. Who knows what's gonna. Who's gonna say this and that. But again, that's fine. Like, everybody needs to take a deep breath and realize that. That it's been 10 seasons now. Like, I'm gonna say, you know, I've gotta put my opinion out there. Otherwise we don't have anything to do. You know what I mean?
Shep Rose
And what do you think? Are we gonna see you on TV for how many more years?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, my God, I don't know. As long as people want to watch. I mean, I think ratings were really good this year, so, like, who am I to pull. Pull the rug out?
Shep Rose
I love it. It wasn't. It was a good season. It was a very good season.
Unknown Speaker
It was subtle, wasn't it?
Shep Rose
Yeah, but it was subtle with, like, moments.
Unknown Speaker
Real deep seated moments.
Shep Rose
And it ended really fast, but always with a soiree. We can't end a season of Southern charm without a soiree and a makeout and a little. I mean, a makeout. Would you call it that?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Shep Rose
Was there tongue?
Unknown Speaker
I mean, I think a little bit.
Shep Rose
Thank you, chef. Thank you.
Unknown Speaker
You're welcome. My pleasure.

Release Date: April 1, 2025
In this lively and candid episode of "Not Skinny But Not Fat," host Amanda Hirsch engages in an in-depth conversation with Shep Rose, a longtime cast member of Bravo’s "Southern Charm." The episode delves into the tumultuous drama surrounding the recent breakup of Paige and Craig, Shep’s personal experiences on the show, and his journey toward personal growth and self-discovery.
Amanda opens the episode with her characteristic enthusiasm, discussing her love for spring weather and her current immersion in Bravo’s reality TV offerings, particularly "Summer House" and "Southern Charm." She touches on the prevalence of celebrities launching new ventures, using Paris Hilton’s skincare line as a case study to highlight the saturated market and the need for unique propositions.
Amanda Hirsch [00:10]:
"Paris Hilton is coming out with a skincare beauty line. Whatever. I just feel like it's late for her... But every industry has a lot of different people doing the same stuff."
The conversation shifts to the highly publicized breakup of Paige and Craig, two central figures in "Southern Charm." Amanda expresses her surprise at the messy nature of their split, emphasizing that she never anticipated such drama from a seemingly compatible couple.
Amanda Hirsch [05:30]:
"I would have never guessed that they would get messy... They just can't. It's wild."
She discusses the fan reactions, noting the division within the Bravo community between Team Paige and Team Craig, and comments on the public fallout seen on social media platforms.
