James
Hi, Amy Lee. How are you?
Jamie Lynn
Good, how are you?
James
I'm good. This is the first pod we've ever done that I woke up, ate, went to the gym, I did my full life, and now I'm here. Okay, I wonder if.
Jamie Lynn
So I purposely not asked you many questions about this new lifestyle so that this would be fresh in the pod for me and all of our listeners. I need to know what sparked this, how long it's been going on and how you're feeling.
James
The truth is, it's not a new lifestyle. I've done this many times. It's like, I got back from LA and I was. Nobody know. I was out in la, in California for a while. I went to visit friends in San Diego. This. And I just got used to that kind of time schedule and I was waking up there late. So when I got back here, I was waking up super late, late. I woke up. So when I was waking up in la, it was like, I, if I was lucky, I'd wake up at 11. But then when I got back here, all of a sudden it was like 2pm because it just pushed and I was like, I can't do this. So I was like, instead of what most people would do, which is I'm just gonna wake up at 8am one day and push it. Because I was going to bed at 6:00am, I was like, I don't want to sleep for two hours one day. Instead, I'm just gonna push this the opposite way. I'm gonna sleep as late as I can and I'm gonna wake up as early as possible. So one day I went to bed at, you know, I, I don't know what I was doing. I, I went to bed at 8:00am and then I, and then I slept for, you know, until five in the afternoon and. And then I just pushed it until now. I'm waking up at 4am, I'm like, Andrew Huberman. I'm waking up, I go to the gym, I'm, I'm doing the crock pot. I got just chicken in there, rice this by like 8:00am I'm done with my day.
Jamie Lynn
You eat at 8:00am no, I'm, I'm.
James
I mean I go. I wake up at. Today I Woke up at 3:30, I went to the gym by 5.
Jamie Lynn
Is it alarm or like your sister just woke up?
James
Okay, 5:30. Sorry, like 5 I was in the gym and by 6:30 I'm eating dinner. 6:30 in the morning.
Jamie Lynn
Well, so here's my question. Because you used to eat like later and later in the day before. I understand you would still be up for hours after. So you're not feeling like weird that.
James
Like I eat so much. I did. So today I did, I did three pounds of chicken thighs in the crock pot.
Jamie Lynn
You ate all three pounds of chicken? Yeah, like no leftovers.
James
And then I had rice and a salad with it. And then I'm. And then I'm hooked on these oatmeal cookies with no sugar in them that I'm just obsessed with. They're so good, James. It's just like oatmeal and cranberry.
Jamie Lynn
Well, that's nice.
James
Unsweetened cranberry.
Jamie Lynn
So now you. And what time do you go to bed tonight?
James
So last night I went to bed at 7pm so weird. I'll probably go to bed at like.
Jamie Lynn
When I go to the bed though.
James
Yeah, I'll probably go to bed like 7pm is or whatever. And I'm up, I'm in the gym and like I'm at like 9am when I was doing my walk. I'm seeing people who like just woke up and then I'm like, you loser. You know, I judge them well.
Jamie Lynn
So are you going to keep pushing it or I bet you like going into the gym when it's empty.
James
Listen, I. This is a great schedule, but the first day I go and play poker and I'm up until fucking 3am this is all over. It's. I would love to keep this, you know, but listen, it's just not. What are you going to do? You know, I would love to keep this, but then how can I, you know?
Jamie Lynn
You're experimenting.
James
There's no poker games at 8am it.
Jamie Lynn
Was wild to get a text from you at 4:30 this morning.
James
I was like, get your ass out of bed.
Jamie Lynn
And I just happened to be up because I was having one of my weird insomnia nights.
James
Yeah, yeah, you couldn't sleep last night.
Jamie Lynn
It's like I fell asleep and then I'm like up at one and then.
James
I'm up and what do you do when you can't Sleep.
Jamie Lynn
I made lunches. I made their snacks. I did my morning green juice at like 2 in the morning.
James
But isn't that noisy?
Jamie Lynn
No, I closed the pantry door so it's like quiet and their doors are closed. Never in a sound machine. So you know you make that drink. I made like my hot lemon water and then I did my green juice and I drank it because I. Look, I was trying to go back to sleep and I couldn't. So at like 2:33 I was like, well, I guess I'll just start my morning routine, which is normally usually hurried because I'm doing all the other stuff for the kids. And then at like 5:30 I passed out on the couch and Woke up at 6:15 hearing the boys laughing. And I knew Cutter was still sleeping. So I went in bed, I woke Cutter up, I hung with the boys for like 15 minutes. I tried to go back to sleep and I couldn't. So here I am drinking a nice coffee.
James
Well, I also want to say new aspect of my life. This very cool.
Jamie Lynn
I'm actually shocked that it's taken you this long to not drink out of plastic water bottles.
James
Yeah, I'm such an idiot. I couldn't commit and it was just so easy because I didn't want to have to have the thing. Okay, so something about me that people find very strange, you've seen in my apartment. There's nothing.
Jamie Lynn
Yes.
James
Now there's something.
Jamie Lynn
You have like a water cloth.
James
I have a water. I have a system. Yeah, I have like a, you know, whatever it's called.
Jamie Lynn
It's like Mountain Valley.
James
No, no, no. I have like a, a, a reverse osmosis machine.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, you got it.
James
Yeah. I'm like, I'm all, wow, Ro.
Jamie Lynn
No, plastic water.
James
Endless water.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, good for you.
James
Because you know, you know what they got me with? It's in the balls. They kept saying there's plastic in your balls. They're cutting people's balls open and, and it's all. They're finding plastic in there. Right guys?
Jamie Lynn
Well, first of all, why are they cutting people's balls open?
James
Well, because some people donate their body to like science once they're dead. And now people, you know, they want to go find out what's going on.
Jamie Lynn
I've heard plastic in the brain, but the balls.
James
You, you, you, you guys have heard.
Jamie Lynn
That really going to affect though, like what's that going to do? What's plastic in the balls going to do?
James
Can you google that? I just don't.
Jamie Lynn
People that have ball cancer and need to get Something in the ball again. It's. That's probably some form of plastic.
James
What? Something.
Jamie Lynn
You never heard that again? Yeah, when people have testicular cancer and they get their ball taken out, I think they put like something else to replace the shape.
James
I doubt it's plastic. You think it's plastic?
Jamie Lynn
I don't know.
James
Microplastics found in every human's testicles. In study. Every human testicle. So I'm just trying to get some of it out of there, I guess.
Jamie Lynn
47 testicles.
James
47 testicles. Why not do. Why not do an even number?
Jamie Lynn
Oh, 23 human and 47 dog is what it says. Dogs eat their toys. So like, I don't know. I don't think that's as alarming.
James
You know what I started realizing when I was opening the. Opening the plastic bottles that I drink? Like there would be little pieces of plastic from the cap. Also a psycho who like, you know, I. I open. I think I opened the thing too hard. But now no plastic. We're feeling good. So normally when I. When I prep the pod, I'll go through my list of stuff that I have and I realize I'm like, oh, I like. Cuz sometimes I have like soprano stuff and sometimes, like, I just don't want to talk about that. Like, I'll just kind of breeze over it and then I'll go to the next thing. And I was like, well, why don't I just take all the soprano stuff and we'll put it in one episode so we do like a little soprano themed episode. We haven't done that.
Jamie Lynn
That's what we're doing right now.
James
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Okay.
James
Because I feel like we did that a few times in the beginning and it' like I was just kind of skipping it. I was like, I don't want to talk about this. But now it's like we got it all. And. And a big part of it was somebody sent me a video. There was like music to it and then. And I was like, wow, this is. This is nice. Like a old school video. Sopranos, you guys have that.
Jamie Lynn
Oh my God. Oh, ha. Is this all the pilot? No. Oh my God.
James
No, not all the pilot, but some of it for sure.
Jamie Lynn
No. Yeah, yeah.
James
Somebody just sent me that. That. It was a.
Jamie Lynn
That looks like it's like from the 80s.
James
Yeah, that's. It feels like a whole different time. I guess it was. Right. It was over 20 years ago now. Probably some of that.
Jamie Lynn
That really was the behavior. Yeah, that really was. I like that they have footage of Jim's like, playful side. Yeah, he was like that a lot.
James
And then that. I had never seen that clip of me and you dancing. Have you seen. Do you have. I asked them to make, like, a longer version of that for us. What. What I would love to do. Here we go. James.
Jamie Lynn
What. Where is that? Where are we, by the way?
James
We are not working here. We're hanging out somewhere on the side. Like, we're at work, but I think we're just hanging out. And why are we. Why are we dancing like this? And how have we never seen this?
Jamie Lynn
Look at us.
James
So what. What I want, Jamie, is I want. I want to be. I want to be able to put this as, like, a. A gif on the phone.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah.
James
And so I could send it to you when you're, like, you're coming over.
Jamie Lynn
I'm gonna send it to people all the time.
James
Yeah. We gotta figure out how to get that.
Jamie Lynn
Cutter sends me the gift all the time. There' me from the first season where I was doing it to Christopher, where I'm, like, flipping the bird like this. He sends it to me all the time when I'm getting saucy with him.
James
That's very. You and Cutter.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, it is.
James
I haven't seen Cutter in a while. I miss. I miss. I miss you, boy. Yeah, I haven't seen. I text him the other day. He was, like, complaining about something. I'm like, you need a hug? He was like, yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, he does. Yeah.
James
Well, you. You guys all do. You guys. I wish, man. There's some stuff we can't talk about on here that these.
Jamie Lynn
Life has been lifing.
James
These dyke shows are going through.
Jamie Lynn
I mean, it's all right. We'll get through it.
James
It's not any. You know, not you and Cutter, and.
Jamie Lynn
Everybody'S great and this.
James
It's just, you know, life, I don't.
Jamie Lynn
Know, doing its thing.
James
Wow. But you are a trooper. You guys are great parents and people and blah, blah, blah. So what I want to ask you about Sopranos is, like, how would you feel back in the day when you would get gifts? Like, we would have a wrap party, or we would have a Christmas party, and they would give us gifts, and it would say Sopranos on it. Like, Yeah, a hoodie that says Sopranos or a shirt that says Sopranos. And I'm like, why am I even carrying this around for the rest of the night?
Jamie Lynn
I know. Like, I got a. I got, like, a huge windbreaker from that show Big sky that I was on, and I'm just like, I just can't imagine me, like, walking around with that. But, you know, it's so different because when I was young and I would do, like, theater, you would do, like, tours or like Broadway. Like, you would proudly wear, like, they would call them show jackets, like, with your show on it. But yeah, I don't think I've ever worn any of the T shirts or anything that says Sopranos on it.
James
Never. I'm.
Jamie Lynn
They were. They were, you know, gifts to family members or whatever.
James
Like, you know, and they love it. And people would be so excited to get that gift. And I'm like, oh, that. I almost threw it away.
Jamie Lynn
The only thing I reuse all the time that I still have, I feel like Brad Gray gave it to us. They gave us in the first season, a beautiful leather bound, like, script binder.
James
Yeah. Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
And it says Sopranos on it. And every project I've ever done, I put my script in that.
James
Really? You still have that? Wow. I would love to know where that is. Yeah. That was like. That was an episode. I have to say. I would never wear a Sopranos jacket, a Soprano shirt, because it's just like, what are you doing? Like, it feels like you're kind of like, hey, look, I'm gonna. It feel. It feels.
Jamie Lynn
Look at me.
James
Do she move?
Jamie Lynn
Yes.
James
But the only person who could pull it off was Dominic Giannisi. He would wear the Sopranos jackets and everything. And you're like, that's cool. Like, he would do it. And you're like, that's cool. He's just where anybody else doesn't. You're like, what are you doing?
Jamie Lynn
I agree.
James
You know, I agree.
Jamie Lynn
You're right. Nobody else could have pulled that off.
James
Yeah. You pull. Because it's like, oh, Dominic's wearing that because he's proud, not because he's like, hey, look at me. I want this attention. He's just.
Jamie Lynn
He does that because he's older. Because he's was like, you know what I mean? Where they're like, they've got nothing to prove. And it is. It's just like proud. It's like. It's like when a grant grandparent brags, it's like so sweet. But if, like a parent brags, they're like a douche.
James
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
You know what I mean?
James
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
You're like, oh, they're old. They earn the right to do that.
James
Yeah. I would see him in the jacket and be like, damn, that's cool. And then I would see the jacket in my husband. Oh, yeah.
Jamie Lynn
He's such a Cool.
James

So there was a. Oh, my dad. So I'm not sure where this was. My dad went to North Carolina and he sent this to me. But it could have been, like, on the way. He could have been at the airport. I don't know. There's a. There's a photo I sent you guys when my dad was in the diner. Look at this. Jame.
Jamie Lynn
What? What is it? That's you and Tony in the car from the college episode. Says, what are you in.
James
Are you in the mafia?
Jamie Lynn
Mafia? Must say that.
James
Yeah. So my dad, literally. Those are my dad's keys. My dad went to sit down and, like, have lunch and he's like, yeah, just a photo of Jim and Jamie here. How. Have you ever seen that at a. In a restaurant before?
Jamie Lynn
No.
James
That's wild. I gotta ask.
Jamie Lynn
I have, like, random people that will send me like, a picture of like an 8 by 10 that I've signed in, like a restaurant somewhere.
James
I'm like, I've had that. There's somebody who was like, oh, you're in a Burger King in. In Queens to me one time. And I was like, all right, I guess so. Okay. So another thing I found was the Sopranos. There was like a Sopranos dictionary. So I wanted to ask you words from the Sopranos dictionary and see if you knew.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, God.
James
If you knew what they would be because there's some that I know for sure. And some. Some I had to take out because I was like, I don't even know how to say this. Like, I never heard anyone say these words, you know, gabagool. So go ahead.
Jamie Lynn
It's a meat.
James
Yeah, yeah.
Jamie Lynn
But you. It's also a term of endearment.
James
Oh, yeah. But, but, and, but the real way it's really said, like coca Cola or something.
Jamie Lynn
Okay.
James
Is the way that they. From saying it over and over and it was slanging. Yeah, whatever. That's guma. You know, your.
Jamie Lynn
Your side piece.
James
That's exactly it. That's your. Do you know what fat bruta is?
Jamie Lynn
Ugly face.
James
That's exactly what that is. How'd you know that?
Jamie Lynn
Because I can, like, figure it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
James
But I know I'm going to Be saying these words horribly.
Jamie Lynn
No, you're doing great.
James
Irish schifosa. You know what that is? Have you heard that?
Jamie Lynn
I don't know what it means.
James
That's an ugly broad. What about. You know what pursuit is?
Jamie Lynn
It's another meat.
James
I don't even know why it's on here. So this is one that I've. I had never even heard of. I. I don't even. I've never even seen these letters together. Sfac. You see that one?
Jamie Lynn
Is that right?
James
Have you ever heard that word before? Do we have any Italian people in the building?
Jamie Lynn
I don't know.
James
No, right?
Jamie Lynn
No, I don't think so.
James
There's not one at that. Texas, man. This is. We just got regular old white folk, you know, spin. Oh, it's a slang or friendly term of endearment for an. Okay.
Jamie Lynn
We should have called PG to read these words.
James
Yeah, consigliere. You know what that is?
Jamie Lynn
That's like the liaison or like the. The business person or like the. I don't know.
James
Yeah, consigliere. I think it's like. Oh, this is my associate. This is family advisor. I guess that's what.
Jamie Lynn
Okay, okay.
James
Stugots. You know the boat, right? That was the boat in Sopranos. But do you know what the word means to got?
Jamie Lynn
No, I forgot.
James
It says jerk. And again, I don't know if these are.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, I'm just going.
James
Yeah, I'm just going off of what this says. You know what ugarts is? No. It's like you got on guts.
Jamie Lynn
Diarrhea.
James
Yes. No, no, it's nothing.
Jamie Lynn
Okay.
James
Got is like. That's what this.
Jamie Lynn
Are these all slang terms? They're not like proper Italian words necessarily. They're like. Like a play on maybe Italian words.
James
I don't know. It just says Soprano's dictionary. That's what.
Jamie Lynn
It's great. Okay.
James
I don't know. I mean, mozzarella, as you obviously know. Yeah, I don't even know how to say that one. I mean, it's. It's capo, but. But the long version is crazy.
Jamie Lynn
But that's like the captain, right?
James
Capo's captain, you know, Ajita.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah. Like stress, like. Right, yeah.
James
So it actually said irritation, like. Yeah, it says indigenous indigestion or a general annoyance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is great.
Jamie Lynn
That's great.
James
And it says. It's derived from the word acidata, which is like acid, like Harper, like. Oh, I got. They got ajita. You know what ashbet is?
Jamie Lynn
No.
James
That's a word our friend. Yeah, that's like, weight. So, like, if somebody's, like, trying, and you're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And again, I'm Irish. I don't. I'm just going off. I got. I got a few Italian friends, you know? What about chooch?
Jamie Lynn
Vagina?
James
No. If you're like, oh, he's a chooch. What is it, a dummy or, like, an idiot?
Jamie Lynn
Okay.
James
It's derived from donkey.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, okay.
James
Maron.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, my God. Like, oh, my. Like, oh, me, oh, my.
James
It says an expression of frustration or amazement that invokes, folks, the Virgin Mary.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, there we go. I definitely wouldn't have given you that.
James
Derived from Madonna.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, okay.
James
Medigon. You know what that is?
Jamie Lynn
No.
James
Medigon is someone who's lost touch with their Italian roots. So it's like, oh, he's becoming an American.
Jamie Lynn
Like, he's a medigan.
James
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, wow.
James
It says example. Vinnie ordered Domino's for his kid's birthday. That guy's officially a medigap.
Jamie Lynn
Totally. Do you know, using some of these.
James
Yeah, Every day we want to throw these back in. Do you know. Do you know what paison is?
Jamie Lynn
Paison? Yeah, it's like a term of. Indeed. It was, like, loosely used as, like, a term of endearment, but I feel like it's derogatory.
James
No, no, no. I. I think paison is a fellow Italian American.
Jamie Lynn
Okay. Yeah.
James
Derived from python, countrymen. Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you did.
Jamie Lynn
I did okay. I did better than I thought.
James
Yeah. I wasn't keeping track, but I'm sure you did great. You know, so we. We had flown to California. We flew back. I'm a germ guy. And when I walk into the bathroom on the plane, I see the toilet seat. The toilet seat is already up. It's not my obligation to put it down on the way out, right? No, no, you're not supposed. But so the whole put the toilet seat down when you're with women is so. Because sometimes a woman will fall in, right. If she's not paying attention. That's kind of where it comes from. Right.
Jamie Lynn
I've had it happen one time in my life when I was a kid from one of my brothers that left.
James
It up because it was, like, middle of the night. You weren't looking or you just.
Jamie Lynn
I just don't remember. I think I was just, like, a kid and distracted and, like, didn't look.
James
And this was before phones. You got no excuse. We're from before phones.
Jamie Lynn
I sat and thought a lot.
James
Yeah. So you. So what do you did that then teach you now? I always love.
Jamie Lynn
Probably.
James
Yeah. Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Like, I think it's like. I mean, I'm always, like, walking towards the toilet, so I'm like. But I also have, like. You know, mine is like, automatic fancy, Amy. It opens up for you.
James
Wow.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah.
James
Cleans itself.
Jamie Lynn
Cleanse.
James
So when you fell into the toilet, did your feet go up in the air?
Jamie Lynn
Probably. I was tiny. I was a little girl.
James
I remember, like, the first time hearing that in my. I think it was like, my grandma, great grandma fell in the toilet as I left.
Jamie Lynn
That's like. That's like, you know, territory for serious injury from a great grandma falling in a toilet.
James
She was from, like, what a way to go.
Jamie Lynn
Can you imagine?
James
She could do anything.
Jamie Lynn
She a tough br.
James
Yeah, she's fine. She'll fix the toilet for. If it break. She could do anything. Literally. Like, she'd be like, oh, the refrigerator's broken. I'll fix it. You're like, what? I love it. You got to call somebody for that. She's like, I'll do it. You know, she love it. So she. Yeah, I. My question was. I. Like, when I was peeing in there, I was like, I'm not touching this, but does this make me an. On a plane? No, I'm okay with that. I can get away.
Jamie Lynn
I went into the plane recently. I went into a plane bathroom recently with the. Where the seat was up, and I wasn't like. It was like, okay.
James
Right? Yeah. Sometimes if there's a broad walking in after, I want to be like, hey, it was up when I. It was up when I went. You know? But also, I'm just the germs. I'm like, I want to get in and out of here without touching it. Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Robbie and I were supposed to fly together.
James
Of course I wake up. Jamie's like, I'm gone. Thanks, James.
Jamie Lynn
Well, I got woken up at 6am by Cutter having a screaming crying to the point where I thought one of our children was dying. But we thought our dog was dying. He's. He pulled through, but, yeah, he was having, like, a massive seizure. So I had to text Rob and be like, sorry, I can't fly home with you. And then I ran to the airport at, like, 6am no bra. And like.
James
And then you go to the airport and your flight gets canceled. Delayed.
Jamie Lynn
Delayed, yes. You've been struggling lately leading into the next.
James
I. I gotta say, when I wake up at 4am and I'm in the gym, I think.
Jamie Lynn
You do.
James
Yeah. I go, I hope she's Send me a little vibe.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, I hope she's sleeping.
James
Crushing it. Yeah. I'm like, oh, what. What horrible thing is happening to Jamie Lynn?
Jamie Lynn
I can't. I have to say though, I know, like, so, so much has been happening in the world since Gen. I mean, since fucking 2020. But, like, I just can't get in a routine yet. I'm like, really struggling. Like, we all had the flu post New Year's. That was rough. Took us a week or two to like, get back on our feet. But, like, I can't find a rhythm. And I'm a person, not as much as you, but that does depend on some sort of, like, routine and like, consistency and like, I know I'm not the only one. I feel like I've talked to a lot of other friends that feel this way. Do you guys feel that way back there? I feel like. I don't know if it's like the collective going on right now.
James
Yeah, I feel that way. Like, I usually like to have a routine, especially in the mornings before work. And it's just been.
Jamie Lynn
It's been rough, difficult.
James
I don't know why. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I feel I, you know, Joe Perino. I remember like two years ago I was like, struggling with something and I'm on the phone with Joe Perino and he's like, we're all waiting for something. Like, that's how since COVID like, that's how it's kind of felt like we were all living our lives. Then Covet hit and there was this then feeling of like, that some things.
Jamie Lynn
Well, now, you know, it's something's like possible like that. Yeah, yeah. None of us have lived through a pandemic or any. I mean, even think about just like the. I mean, 9, 11. I think for us and our generation was the, the, you know, biggest tragedy of like, mass proportions. But now just recently, the LA fires and you think it's just been a lot. It's just been.
James
So when you were over there helping people, did you see a lot of sad shit or was it more like.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, I was a friend of mine, Ashley in la, just like converted her entire business into a fire relief warehouse, which is amazing. And I was just there like, helping unpack and like, organize clothing and sizes for a couple of hours and. Yeah, I mean, you see the people coming in with the bags to like, start to rebuild their life and shop and, you know, what was like, I think really beautiful was just. And I think that can come out of these terrible moments that I wish we Would. Didn't have to have to feel these things. But I think there's a lot of love and community. But when something like this happens, right. And like a tragedy happens, like, I can think about this past summer for us, like, we had our community to like, help us get through it. When an entire community is wiped out, it's just like, I mean, people are just like, in shock, but at the same time, like immense gratitude and, you know, just everyone's just wanting to do something and help and it's just devastating. It's so sad.
James
Yeah, I remember one of the stats that I heard was like, so there was the Eaton fire and then the Palisades fire. And I forget if it was the Eaton or another. I think it was the Eaton fire, where they said the Eaton fire is the largest fire to ever happen in la if it wasn't for the Palisades fire that was going on at the exact same time. So in all the time before all the fires, this one is the biggest one. But the big, the one bigger is going on, you know, however many miles away Palisades is from Eaton at the same time.
Jamie Lynn
Not that. Not many miles away.
James
Yeah, that was.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah. And I mean, in Altadena and eating the Eaton fire, like, I mean, you're talking about like generational homes. Like, you know, this is just like the daunting thought of rebuilding, but also just, you know, I, I want to say for people that have, you know, everyone was just so amazing about like, really wanting to help right away. But like, I know personally from friends that have been affected and people that have been through other things like this before, like, it's month three, month four, month five, month six. Like, that's when people also are really.
James
You know, when people move on to the next tragedy and, and they're not focused on you and you're like, hey, remember we lost our home and things really sucked.
Jamie Lynn
Still need help. Yeah. Yeah.
James
Well, I know that there were, because there were people who were dealing with this fire who were like, getting a lot of attention. And then there were people who dealt with fires like two years ago who were like, hey, no one ever helped me, or, you know, like, complaining about it, which is like, we. You get it. But also, like, how are you supposed to.
Jamie Lynn
I just feel like we're not built to be able to handle the amount of information, 100, to know how much is constantly happening in the world. Because I think, I mean, bad things have always happened and will continue to happen. It's. I don't know why no one does, but, like, it just feels just so much.
James
Well, even if it's. Even if it's all good information, I don't think we're equipped to handle the information we get in a day. Just like when you. Because sometimes I get the feeling when I wake up that like. Because I do at least 30 minutes without my phone, and my brain feels like my day doesn't start until I look at my phone. So, like, I feel like I'm just killing time until I look at my phone and then I look at my phone. It's like I take in so much in 30 minutes and you're not meant for.
Jamie Lynn
I actually was thinking about it this morning because, like, in my insomnia, like, I went to pick up my phone and I was like, so upset at myself that I did that. But. But it's like it's been come so unconscious. But I remember when I was in India and I was only there for 11 days, I could the. I would look at my phone and be like, no way do I want that to disturb my peace right now. Like, it looked like the most obnoxious, like, disturbing device in the world. And it took me probably seven, eight weeks to like, really start using it regularly again when I came home. And, you know, now it's like I'm so. It's with me all the time. It's always in my hand. It's always by me. I'm always so accessible. Like a friend of mine was telling me last night because we were just talking about everything that's going on in our lives, and she's like, I think you need to start waiting to out two to three hours unless it's very important to start texting people back because you just feel. You feel this responsibility. You feel so accessible. And also just the constant need to refresh the information that's going on. I mean, really, the only thing I really care about is the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni lawsuit. That's really why I'm going on the Internet every five minutes. But, you know, I also want to know other things sometimes.
James
Does. Did they give you advice when you were in India on like, hey, when you get back, they're going to. This thing's going to pull you back in. Here's how you avoid that.
Jamie Lynn
They just mention to be graceful with myself, with integration, and that the people that I'm was coming home to did not just have the experience that I had. And so don't feel slighted or don't feel upset if they're not understanding what you're needing. But, like, honestly, the only thing that my guru and everyone there told me and I. I'm finding, like, the older I get and the more time that goes by, it just makes the most sense is, like, the only piece of advice is just be curious. And that's, like, across the board.
James
So, like, you're curious about Blake Lively.
Jamie Lynn
I'm curious about that. If my kid has a certain behavior, instead of coming down on him, have your first reaction, be like, why do you think you did that? If I'm feeling a certain way, instead of beating myself up about why I'm feeling it or why I'm doing this, being like, why am I doing this? It just, like, it's. It takes. It separates it from us. You sort of become the witness of the behavior a little bit more instead of, like, consumed by it or overwhelmed by it or feeling, like, out of control with it. And I'm. I'm just like, I think the more chaotic my life has gotten over the past couple of months, it's like what I keep going to is just trying to feel and just be curious as much as I can about what's going on, because otherwise you'll.
James
I mean, it's got to be hard when you have a lot of bad happening to you to just being like, well, why does this give? Because you're. I mean, it's, you know, you really.
Jamie Lynn
You know what it is. It's like, I'm. I'm less curious about the events that are happening as opposed to just my reaction to it, because, again, like, bats, no matter what I do, I, I. I'm living on earth. Like, I'm not. I can't escape things, but I also, that's. I have to expect good things as much as bad things.
James
But I don't have kids. But it's got to be so hard when it's your kids.
Jamie Lynn
Like, well, that's my. That's my journey right now, is figuring out, like, how do I be the type of mother I want to be without it consuming me? Because I feel like I'm so hyper focused on my kids and them being good people. And I, I feel like I'm. I, I can see their adolescence and their youth and their innocence, but, like, I, I kind of need to let them fuck up a little bit more. And that's what I'm trying to, like, loosen my reins and also just feel like I am not responsible for how everybody feels all the time. Like, I can't make sure that everybody's happy and that everybody's well, that everybody is having all their needs met at all times, because it's, like. It's draining.
James
You know what I think would be fucking awesome for you? If, like, next time your kids do something bad, if you just come out like Sandy at the end of Greece and, like, a leather jacket with a cigarette and just being like, yeah, go ahead, do it. I'm out.
Jamie Lynn
Like.
James
And just. You fucking went. Went. And you're like, mom's leaving. Just got on the back of a bike with Cutter and just went off, like, because they're. You know, like.
Jamie Lynn
A neighbor did text me the other day that goes, I just saw Cutter zip down the street on an electric scooter. He took Bo's electric scooter around our block for a minute. And I was like, what? First of all, I can't even picture him. I can't even think. He just needed a break.
James
Yeah, man. You guys are just. You guys are going through it, but I.
Jamie Lynn
You know what, Rob? I think that you're also just, like, like, very close to us, and, like, we talk all the time, and so, you know, the ins and outs of our life. I don't think necessarily, like, what's going on in my life is any more or less than, like, what anybody else, like, everyone's.
James
I can tell you I have a lot of friends who I'm very close to. The last six months or whatever it is for you guys has been very rough. Yeah. Jamie, I know you're trying to be like, oh, it's. You know, everybody has a. No. Like, you guys have been put through. I mean, like, again, you've talked about, you know, your son got so sick, they basically told you to say goodbye to him at one point. That's enough for 10 years, like, to have that six months ago and then still be going through.
Jamie Lynn
Well, you know, I think that. That, honestly, I was at dinner with Becca and Odie last night, and they were basically being like, can you just be a little more up about this summer? Because, like, you're not. You're not letting yourself go there. And so I know in my own time, in my own way, I will. I just. I don't know. I think that I. Somebody that, like, wants to be happy and wants to choose to be happy and wants to choose to be grateful. But I think there is a certain point where it's harming you when you're not kind of dealing with stuff, so.
James
Yeah, but it also has to be scary when, like, you. You saw your son's life was so fragile and everything, and Then a month later, he's better and it's like, all right, he's going to school and you just have to leave.
Jamie Lynn
There's no problem.
James
I don't know. Yeah, but also it's like. Like, how are you even supposed to. Like, what's the right way to feel? Like I'm being overprotective. I don't want him to go. Or is it just like, hey, just let him go? How do you. What do you. What the fuck are you supposed to do?
Jamie Lynn
Well, I think that's what I'm struggling with the most right now is like, I've just. I. Every time that there's like a new thing that comes up, you start to be like, oh, is this because I did this or didn't do that or. And it's just. I don't think there's a right or wrong. Like, all I can rest on is that I'm in every moment. I know my intention is I'm just doing the best that I can. I tend to be somebody that's very hard on myself. So this is like my lesson out of all of this really is like, trying to figure out that. How to give myself the same grace that I'm giving everybody else.
James
And then you guys. Well, because the other crazy thing is, like, you have to put so much attention into your kid who's sick, and then you have your other kid, and then at the end of the day, it's also me. Like, you know what I mean? Like that. Like, how much time is left for you? Very little, I'm guessing. Jesus, James, I don't know how. Listen, I have 24 hours a day for me, and it's not enough. It's just not enough.
Jamie Lynn
Well, I have this time here, the. Trust me, I still know everything that's going on with the Baldoni Lively case. I have time for that.
James
I don't know how. I don't even know. See that? Maybe that's why I'm okay, because I don't just.
Jamie Lynn
God, don't take me until I know everything. Like, I need to know how that shit ends. Like, just don't end it for me until I get all of the fucking.
James
Details you want to talk about. You want to explain you.
Jamie Lynn
There's nothing new. No, no, I don't. I don't want to open that can of worms. Like, meaning, like, I don't want, like, my opinions out there, because I actually don't. I'm like. I feel like I'm like ping ponging back and forth between it. It's very, it's very upsetting.
James
Is it feels like a lot from people. Is it something that's split 50, 50, like we're half the side is on this.
Jamie Lynn
Here's the thing. It's like if you start watching one opinion enough on Instagram, you're only getting fed that one.
James
It is hard to feel bad for you when you are involved in this shit. Also, I just got to say, because I feel so bad about what you're going through and you're like, on Instagram, Balboni, what the hell you're talking.
Jamie Lynn
Well, there's literally new updates like every two hours about it.
James
It's crazy. I. I don't even know. I wouldn't even know.
Jamie Lynn
I just, I think also too, there's a part of me that's like, well, my life ain't that bad. You know what I mean?
James
It's escapism, right? Like you're all of a sudden, you're not thinking about the insane things that are happening in your life or what? Well, you did try and take your family to Disney.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, we did. We went.
James
Right. And then everyone got violently ill, right? I mean, Jamie is. We got the blue and you had to stay there, right?
Jamie Lynn
Well, we were, we went from Disney to my best friend Joanna Nick's house in Tampa. And right when we were pulling into their house, Beau started running a fever. So I quarantined in a room with him for two days and then we flew home. And on the plane home, the flu hit Cutter and I. I don't know if anybody's had this like flu that's going around. It's. It's like no flu I've ever had before. When we got home, it was 4:30 in the afternoon. Cutter and I literally like army crawled to our bedroom and we're like, figure it out. Bo bathed, Jack fed him, they watched a movie, they went to bed.
James
So now you know, they're capable completely.
Jamie Lynn
When the next morning, Bo's like, I made him a dinner of Pirate's booty and a beef stick and strawberries. I was like, you crushed it. Yeah, great job, bro. Protein, carb and a fruit.
James
So I. Speaking of Disney, I had something happen to me where it's probably, I mean, I know you're going through a lot, but it was probably the worst I felt in a long time. So I'm, you know, I'm, I'm very annoying in my head all the time. I annoy myself constantly. But I'm, I'm leaving LA alone because you left me Sorry. So I'm, I'm on an escalator and I'm behind maybe, let's say a three year old girl, probably, maybe four year old girl and her mother and the mom had like it was dealing with another kid and the, the daughter is standing there holding a balloon from Disney, right? Because there's one in California too, in the airport. And it's like a giant fucking see through balloon with like Mickey's head.
Jamie Lynn
Well, those things are like 30 bucks.
James
And I'm angry. Like I'm standing behind and I'm like this mother. Because like this is like, it makes an annoyance getting on the plane. Now you're gonna. What are you putting this in an overhead comp? Like, what is this whole like, like just say no to your kid when the kid is sleeping and say it went by but like it's enough. We don't.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah, here's where you're, here's where you've got to understand. This is a parent that just left Disney with their kid. They are probably like raw like, then.
James
Don'T take your kids.
Jamie Lynn
Thing they're gonna do is cause a tantrum at the airport. Just bring the.
James
No, of course not. You don't do it at the airport. You do it the night before when the kid goes to bed. You put it out the window, you pop it, whatever, and you're like, oh, I don't know. Or get the kids something that you could fucking put in a bag and take out. Why do you have to make this everyone's fucking problem now? Yeah, this is very annoying to me. So now I'm standing behind this fucking four year old girl just seething on this like the escalator thing. And I'm looking at the mom and I'm like, you're a real fucking, you know, like I'm just like I'm just so angry that. And you left me. Now we get to the top of the escalator, the little girl does. The mom is like dealing with the other kid. The little girl falls down, starts hysterically crying. I look up the balloons floating up to the ceiling of the airport. Felt a little bad, I gotta say.
Jamie Lynn
Felt a little bad.
James
I felt a little bad.
Jamie Lynn
In what way?
James
I felt like I kind of manifested.
Jamie Lynn
You kind of wish for that to happen to this innocent child that loves her Disney balloon.
James
In 30 seconds on this escalator, I judge the mom fully. Like, I'm like, you're not even a good. Like, I'm just fully. I'm like, how dare you bring this balloon into my Life lady. Like, you know, because, listen, I have.
Jamie Lynn
I don't even know what flight they're getting on.
James
I had a. I have a lot of anxiety at an airport because I.
Jamie Lynn
Don'T like to fly.
James
So I'm kind of a mess already. And I'm all neurotic. This. You know. No, no, no, it's fine. You shouldn't feel bad at all leaving me. But I was. Yeah. And I'm just like. And I'm like. And I'm in this. And I'm like, what a. I'm like, you really got it. And I just see the balloon floating and it's like bouncing off the ceiling or whatever. And then I felt bad. I'm like, I wish there was something I could do to help this kid out and get that down, but I can. Then I just went to security and.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah.
James
You know, figure it out, but. And then the girl. The little girl, poor girl's standing there crying because she fell and whatever. But I'm like, you know, it. Part of me kind of wants to look up and go, thanks. You know, big. Big guy. Big guy was hearing me good manifesto. Yeah. But I just, you know, come on. Listen. There should be a law. No flying with balloons. Anything. You have to put stuff in a bag if you're flying with it.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah. I wonder what would have happened with that, where that balloon would have gone.
James
Maybe it was best case scenario.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah.
James
Because if they had to take it away, it could have been a mess.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah.
James
You know.
Jamie Lynn
Yeah. She could have had. She could have had one of Those, like, viral YouTube videos when people have, like, rants at airports and get kicked out. Except she's four.
James
Yeah. I was. I felt. I felt bad. I felt. Felt. I felt. Really. I felt. I felt kind of like a monster. I was like. I just. I just kind of feel like I took this little girl's balloon away.
Jamie Lynn
I mean, can you imagine somebody thinking that about your niece who had her Disney balloon, that she. My brother would never.
James
My brother's a good father. He wouldn't. He. He's not bringing that into other people's lives.
Jamie Lynn
He's a thoughtful person.
James
Yeah. It's so horrible to put that into everyone else's life. At the airport for the whole rest of the day. It's. And then there's. There's probably a flight attendant who now has to do. Oh, how do I get this and get the fuck out of here?
Jamie Lynn
We should see it. Can you bring balloons on an airplane?
James
I don't. Yeah. I mean, can you. That shouldn't even be. You should get flagged for asking this to go on Google. They should put you on a no fly on the no fly just for asking this fucking question. However, it is generally not recommended to bring inflated balloons. Recommended? They could expand and burst in the air pressure. See, I knew she was a problematic mother.
Jamie Lynn
Dangerous.
James
I knew this lady was a problem.
Jamie Lynn
Problem.
James
Wow.
Jamie Lynn
Oh, yeah. I guess helium up in the air, they were.
James
Those two were dangerous. I saw that kid and lady coming from a mile away.
Jamie Lynn
Wow.
James
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn
Well, thank you.
James
I might have saved that whole plan because maybe.
Jamie Lynn
Maybe the last thing we needed.
James
Maybe the flight attendant hears the pop. She yells to the. Whatever. Maybe things. You know, maybe things go. Maybe the. The pilot has a heart attack. It could have. I. I might have. Man. I might have saved you.
Jamie Lynn
Saved.
James
I'm a hero.
Jamie Lynn
Wow. Rob?
James
Yeah? Me and Sully, they should make a movie about this. They should make a movie. Yeah. Wow. We should have Sully on the pod. We should talk about what it's like to. I'll sit next to him. We could talk to you about what it's like to be a hero.
Jamie Lynn
Let's do it.
James
All right. Well, we'll see you guys next week. Hey, not today.
