Keep in mind that life circumstances can also affect your OCD. So if you're under a lot of stress if it's that time of the month for girls if a lot of things are changing in your life it will make it more difficult for you to react correctly to an OCD trigger when an OCD trigger comes in. But the way I like to approach recovery work with clients is we need to look at life the way it truly is so there will be stressors, there will be unpredictable situations and you need to recover not in a bubble but in a real environment. So if you are having a harder time because of life circumstances take it as almost like a stress test that if we recover under these circumstances if we still choose to disregard under these circumstances the daily life when things are calm and smooth is going to be like cakewalk for you. So look at it as a necessary part of recovery. Emergency session is available. The link is in the description.
Main Theme:
In this episode, Ali Greymond addresses how various life circumstances—such as increased stress, physiological changes, and unexpected events—can intensify OCD symptoms and make proper response to triggers more challenging. She emphasizes the importance of doing recovery work in real-life situations rather than waiting for the "perfect" conditions and reframes difficult periods as valuable opportunities for strengthening recovery skills.

Recovery in the ‘Real World’:
Ali stresses that true recovery happens in the midst of life’s unpredictability. She invokes the idea of a “stress test”—recovering despite adverse circumstances makes you more resilient.

Facing Triggers Under Stress is Valuable Practice:
Rather than seeing hard moments as setbacks, Ali suggests using them as training grounds. Managing OCD during tough times prepares you for even easier recovery during calm periods.

The episode encourages listeners not to wait for ‘perfect’ emotional states or life conditions to do exposure or stop compulsions.
