A common question people ask me is, when can I say that I am fully recovered? And I like to be very safe when it comes to this. I don't like to kind of ring a bell too soon. So I would say after you get to level zero anxiety. So let's say you started level nine anxiety. You're tracking, reducing. I. I'm talking about my method. I don't know how everybody else is doing it. So with my method, we're tracking, reducing rumination, compulsions, avoidances, we're getting it to zero from zero. So from when you feel like you don't have ocd, that's not the moment that you're recovered? You would think so, but no. From there, I would say. Three months. You're of zero anxiety other than daily life. But again, even with daily life, it shouldn't be high, maybe like 1, 2, maximum, unless something extraordinary happens. So, but let's say when it comes to ocd, zero anxiety, three months. Okay, we're getting fairly secure, but I would say six months. Okay, now we can start saying the word recovery. And then the year is when you feel like you're standing firmly on the ground with both feet. So it's a process because a physical change is taking place in your brain. Your brain has been in fight or flight with elevated stress for a long time. So something is. We're forcing a physical change. This is not a quick process. This is not like I changed my mind. A lot of the times when we do mental health work, it feels like, well, if I just change my mind, all of this will normalize. It will. But because it's a physical process, it needs to take its time. So be patient. Even when you don't feel like you need to track, still track, still be on top of it. And it's. It's a very simple process at that point because you don't need to put a lot of effort into it, but just keeping one eye on it, not from a position of fear, not from a position of a what if OCD will come back, which can become OCD in and of itself, but just mindfully aware. I'm Allie Graymond. I'm an expert in OCD recovery because I've been working with clients for the last 20 years, and I can tell you anybody can fully recover. If you need help, the link is below.
