It helps to treat OCD like an addiction where if you look at it as you are addicted to rumination, you are addicted to reassurance seeking. So how do we beat an addiction? We try to delay. We try to make it more difficult. If you are going to social media, delete the apps, right? If you are going to the Internet, make it harder for you to get on the Internet, maybe temporary, Take the Internet even off your phone. If you can do that, talk to your loved ones, the ones that you seek reassurance from all the time, and say, hey, I might in the weak moment, come to you for reassurance. When I do, please don't give it to me. So putting those kind of boundaries in place for yourself will help you in the weak moment not to do the behavior. And again, the blessed behaviors you do, the faster you will recover. OCD runs on fuel of rumination, compulsions and avoidances. It cannot run without that fuel. It just simply doesn't. It wouldn't exist without it. So the less fuel you give it, the weaker it will become. And it's every day, all day long, work where it wants you to feed it. You will not again. It wants you to feed it again. You will not over and over again. I'm Ali Graymond. I'm an expert in OCD recovery because I've been working with clients for the last 20 years and I can tell you anybody can fully recover. If you need help, the link is below.
