We always joke with clients, as. You know that movie the Exorcist from back in the day? Well, we kind of joke around saying, crawl up the wall, exorcist style. Remember, like the character, but don't do the compulsion. Meaning that it's so bad it feels like you're weak at the knees. I just have to do the behavior. I just have to do the compulsion. And this is where you pull back and you say, no, no matter what. My life, my recovery is what matters to me. And it doesn't matter how difficult it is. I'm not going to do that anymore. That's what we mean, that exorcist style, where we're saying, no, it's done. That's how you stop behaviors. It's not easy. It's not when you have the right thought or the right feeling. It's making the choice and sticking to the choice. Without perfectionism, there will be times when you fall down, but sticking with the choice to the best of your ability.
