Welcome to the Old Mates, New Laughs Podcast page – a place for those of us who grew up in the 80s, survived the 90s, and are now wondering how the hell we got to middle age so fast!
We’ve been mates for 40 years, which means we’ve seen it all – from dodgy 80s haircuts and 90s Britpop, to the joys (and struggles) of being responsible adults (sort of). Our podcast is all about looking back, laughing at ourselves, and figuring out how we got here. Expect nostalgia, bad jokes, and a healthy dose of sarcasm!
We know that our podcast is nothing without it's listeners, and this is where you come in:
Reminisce – Share your favourite memories from growing up in the best decades. What were your favourite kids TV shows? What toys did you play with?
Debate – Whether Blur or Oasis was better (or if you were too cool for both)
Laugh – At the stuff we all thought was normal back then
Relate – To the joys and disasters of hitting middle age
So, if you remember life before the internet, still miss Woolworths, and wonder how we’re now old enough for back pain… you’re in the right place!

Earlier in the season, we confidently predicted how the Premier League would play out… and now it’s time to face the consequences. In this episode, we go back over our 25/26 Premier League predictions, checking what we're getting right, what we're getting spectacularly wrong, and which takes aged like fine wine versus which ones aged like milk left on a radiator. There’s football chat, brutal self-reflection, questionable logic, and plenty of revisionist history as Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs (and everyone else) get dragged back into the conversation. No VAR. No excuses. Just three old mates reviewing their own nonsense. If you enjoy what we do and want to help us grow — including our goal of becoming a visual, on-camera podcast — you can now support us via Ko-Fi (totally optional, massively appreciated), here's the link should you feel inclined...https://ko-fi.com/oldmatesnewlaughsYou can also follow us on our social media accounts here...Website - https://shows.acast.com/old-mates-new-laughs-podcastFacebook - www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61572709568634Instagram - www.instagram.com/oldmatesnewlaughs/?hl=enTwtter (X) - x.com/OMNLpodcastBlue-Sky - bsky.app/profile/oldmatesnewlaughs.bsky.social Hosted on Acast.
