Gonna read the word. That's all right. Somebody got their half squat in. It's all right. That's okay. You felt that leg burn a little bit and then you. Hey, brought that right back on up. We have a bit of a journey today. I'm going to start with this passage. It is Proverbs 25, verses 2 and 3. I'm going to read from the complete Jewish Bible version, the cjb. And it reads, God gets glory from concealing things. Kings get glory from investigating things. Like the sky for height or the earth for depth. Is the heart of kings. Unfathomable. Father, today you have called for us in this season to be kings and priests. Well, we have arrived at our posts and we come, Lord, in search of what you have in store for us in this encounter with your presence and with your word. And we know, Lord, that you will not only bring that which is needed for the hearts and minds of your sons and daughters, but you are the God of abundance and overflow. So continue to pour out and we will make room and receive. Father, use me however you see fit. Wring me dry that those who may receive it may receive it and run with it and give you honor and glory as they do in Jesus name. Amen. We can sit now. It is such an honor to be able to to approach you today on Father's Day. I look at this first passage that we read and it says, God gets the glory from concealing things. Kings get the glory from investigating things. And here we are, we are called to be kings and priests. And we are in the segment of kings and priests where we're really getting to know what it is to be a king, what it is to truly walk with the royal authority of the priesthood that we are called all to walk in. I want to reiterate, when you hear kings, I don't want you to just think kings and think male. This is the understanding that as a son and daughter of the most High God, you are called as a child of God to have royal authority. This is what is spoken of when we say kings and priests. So when I read this passage and it says God gets the glory for concealing things, and kings get the glory from investigating things, I'm understanding that as a king, it is my job to investigate. It isn't just my job to sit passively. It isn't just my job to assume the mantle. Because we are told that there is an identity, a Christlike identity that we have and we lay hold of it. Absolutely. But then I look at this passage and I say that the glory that is supposed to come from that understanding of who we are, that glory only comes from investigating things. We each get to be investigators. And then I love this next passage which says, for this, like the sky for height or the earth for depth, the heart of kings is the heart of kings. Unfathomable. Now, this may seem like a bit of two verses that are colliding with each other, because on the one hand, it's saying that you get the glory from investigating, but then on the other hand, it's saying you can't possibly search out the heart of a king. But I love this, because as you study what's really meant by this passage, it means it's not that you cannot search the heart of the king, it's that the depths of the heart are so deep and so rich, you will never stop searching. So for us, if we are really going to walk with the fullness of our crowns and the understanding that we are indeed called to be kings and priests, it's time for us to search ourselves out, our hearts. And what that means for me is, and I love this because when you hang out with smart people, they give you incredible wisdom. PDA has said on more than one occasion, the heart is the soil. So now when I have this understanding of what it is to be a king, it means I am a consistent, diligent tiller of soil. I'm always searching out my heart for what's in it, because I don't assume that I know the depths of my heart at all times. So that means I have my tool and I'm always searching and seeking, Lord, what are you going to show me that's in my Heart. And just when I think I have an understanding of what's on the surface, just like any good farmer does with soil, I turn the soil over and I see now what's happening underneath. And then when I have an understanding of what's now on top and I've seen what's on that surface level and I've seen what's on that level, I just dig a little bit deeper and I turn that soil over again just to see what's deeper and underneath. Each one of your hearts is unfathomable meeting. We get to continue to search and search and search whether we find good things, great things, bad things, things we don't understand. I love finding the things I don't understand because that means it's a conversation me and my father get to have. I am not dismayed. When I turn my heart and I see something I've never seen before, I feel something I've never felt before. I have an understanding or a reaction to something that I haven't had before. I say, great, it's time for me and Papa to talk. Happy Father's Day. Because today, what I want us to begin to do is to not just know our hearts and become complacent in knowing certain levels of our hearts. I want us to be tillers of our soil. And so, as we're searching our hearts out, the Lord leads me to this one particular king, who, for me, I believe, if you follow his journey, is an incredible blueprint and roadmap for what it is to truly be a king. And it's King David. And it starts off with King David being described before he even shows up on the scene. You see him in 1st Samuel. I believe it's 13 after the previous king, the very first king that was anointed, who was Saul. If you were here for Bible study, you kind of know where I'm going with this. And if you haven't had a chance, Our Bible study is on the pod, but we talked about Saul and understanding that as a king, you don't just study everything that goes right. You meditate on success, as I've always said. But you study failure. And the reason you study failure is I don't want to just know how things work. I want to know why things don't work. Because that's what allows me to truly gain knowledge and wisdom and insight and understanding.
C
If it didn't work for you, I get to study.
B
And so I. That's a mistake that I don't have to make if I'm willing to Continue to till the soil of my heart as a king. So we talked about Saul, and then as Saul loses his positioning as God's anointed one is he speaks of David. And the first thing we hear about David is, I've sought a man who is after my own heart. Now, as a king, that's my goal. It's not about what I rule over. At the end of the day, when I am finished, when the very last breath comes out of me, I want it to be said, that was a man, that was a son, that was a daughter. Daughter that was after God's own heart.
C
And here it is in the word.
B
I got somebody who was called this from the jump. So I want us to very quickly study how it is that King David can show us not only how to till our hearts, but what it is to really get to the root of what it is to be a king. For those who are taking notes, I'm praying that's all of you. We're going to title this encounter Forging Integrity. Because as you study the early origins of David, what you start to see is there are experiences which on the surface look to be just minor experiences or occurrences or happenings. But if you really start to dig, you see the whole time God was putting him in position, God was setting him up. God was forming him in and molding him based on where he was, based on what he was called to do. And all of it was designed to forge the kind of integrity that would allow him to be king. Now, I know some of my Bible scholars are now starting to wonder, wait a minute. Because there were parts of King David's reign and rule that were not up to par with who he started off as being. Can I submit for you, for each one of you, that's going to happen as well. And that's why I get excited to study King David. Because like I said, I'm not just going to study. I'm not just going to meditate on success and only study how things work. Because inevitably, at some point, I will encounter, as I till the soil of my own heart, as the king I'm called to be, I'm going to turn up something that's going to look a lot like something David went through. This is why we keep tilling. This is why we keep moving. This is why we keep turning the soil of our hearts. Because inevitably, we find a place where our integrity is called into question. And now my word is giving me strategy for what to do in that situation that David did not have. Amen. So I'm going to start in 1st Samuel 16, 10 through 13. Let's find. Let's see how David even comes to be anointed, because there's so much in how this takes place. First Samuel 16, we'll start at verse 10 says, Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. So I'm going to pause. The prophet Samuel has come to anoint the next person because God has lifted his hand off of Saul. And so now Samuel shows up. God tells you this. God tells him, this is where to go. This is the family I want you to seek. This is the person I want you to seek. And now becomes the situation where we're waiting for the one who God puts his finger on. Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, the Lord has not chosen these. And Samuel said to Jesse, are all the young men here? Then he said, there remains yet the youngest, and there he is keeping the sheep. Let's note that the one who is anointed to be king is not yet in the room. Some of us are not yet in the room. And you're so frustrated because you can see the door that leads to where God has called for you to go, but you're not yet in the room. Please don't be discouraged. Keep the sheep. Whatever you're called to do before you go in the room, keep doing the thing you're called to do before you get in the room. Because that's how the one who's going to anoint you knows where to find you. David was faithful at keeping sheep. When they said, where's your son? They knew where he was. He's keeping the sheep. He's doing what he has been told to do. So he has found where he ultimately needed to be for the moment to take place. There remains yet the youngest, and there he is keeping the sheep. Now, remember, there were seven sons, so that means David was the eighth. My Bible scholars know that eight is the number of new beginnings. For some of us who are starting to come into the understanding of who we are as kings, there are new beginnings. And in those new beginnings, that means you have to have a new sense of who you are. You have to have a new sense of how you're going to walk. You have to have a new sense of how you are going to keep the commandment of God in your life. Because as you make your way towards this moment, not where you become king, but where the world comes to an understanding of the king that you are, you have to remain steadfast and ready to accept new beginnings. That's why we till the soil. That's why, as kings, we are investigators. We're looking for new beginnings. Because those new beginnings give us a signal. They give us an understanding. They say, it is time. And Jesse said. Samuel said to Jesse, send and bring him, for we will not sit down till he comes here. So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, meaning red, with bright eyes and good looking. And the Lord said, arise, anoint him, for this is the one. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, anoints him with oil in the midst of his brothers. Now, we've talked in weeks past about what happens when you are anointed with oil. Because oil is pungent, oil is fragrant, oil is obvious. Because once you are anointed, there is no corporation that God has his hand on you. That means once you accept that you have been anointed, everywhere you go, you are carrying the fragrance of your anointing. You are carrying the fragrance, the pungent, concentrated essence of God saying, this is who you are. This is who you are called to be. This is where you're called to be. And I need you to step in
C
walking as you come into this situation.
B
There are those who cannot ignore you because you carry the fragrance of the anointing for where God has said, you shall be. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, anointed him in the midst of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah. I want you to take note of one thing. When Samuel comes to be anointed, I want to make sure I have the right verse. Verse 13 says, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And I'm sorry, I read further down than I wanted to. It is 13. Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. Put a checkpoint on that. We're going to come back to that.
C
Because his brothers all come out one
B
by one and they're all older than he is. And yet the youngest comes forward. Now remember, in terms of who things are passed on to, it is usually passed on to the oldest. Yet the youngest comes forward in front of all of them and he is anointed to be king. Put a pin in that. We're going to come back to it. Now, first we see that the Spirit of the Lord has come upon David. The next verse. But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, so we have to Be mindful of the move of the Spirit and how he moves now in the Old Testament. And I've said this a few times, for those of you who are new to this, just receive it. The beautiful part about the difference between how the Holy Spirit moved in the Old Testament and the New Testament is in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come upon a person and then the Holy Spirit would leave. And then the Holy Spirit would come upon a person and the Holy Spirit would leave. The Holy Spirit came and went as he saw fit as was necessary to complete a very specific point or event that God needed to do.
C
So.
B
The Holy Spirit would come upon a person. They would feel the Holy Spirit and then move in what the Holy Spirit was telling for them to do. But we have a different relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit doesn't come upon us because of Jesus.
C
The Holy Spirit richly dwells in us.
B
So whereas in the Old Testament the kings had to wait for prophets to get a word and an understanding of what God was saying to do. We have the Holy Spirit in us. We have the voice of the Father in us.
C
So we just listen to the Holy Spirit that is in us.
B
And he compels us, he directs us, He. He commands us while he comforts us
C
and advocates for us to do the
B
thing that kings are called to do. We have a different relationship with the Spirit. So here we see it says the Spirit comes upon David and leaves Saul. But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him. I want to pause. The interesting thing about God positioning David so that he would then walk into the king he was called to be is God has to distress what is in front of him. Be very mindful, be very discerning of what areas are being distressed in your life. What areas are being distressed that you have the discernment to see? See what areas are being distressed that God has said, I am distressing this area not because I want to cause chaos, but because I am preparing the void for you to fill. Once the Spirit comes off of Saul
C
and David has been anointed as king. Once we start to see this distressing spirit, it is how Saul acts that
B
all ultimately moves him out of position. So that David can come in position.
C
You're not going to have to distress anyone. God will distress that needs what needs to be distressed. God will move who needs to be moved.
B
God will place what needs to be placed.
C
God will shake what needs to be shaken. God will still what needs to be stilled. You don't have to do all of this work to go where God has called for you to go.
B
You just have to keep the sheep.
C
Because the beautiful part about David is he's anointed.
B
He's dripping with oil.
C
He is walking with the fragrance of the anointing. He has just been met by a priest and told he is going to be king. And he's got his father as a witness and seven older brothers as a witness. And what does he do after this?
B
He keeps the sheep. For some of us, the biggest challenge we're going to have as kings is
C
being anointed and still staying in position to fulfill what we were called to fulfill, where we are now, which forges the integrity and prepares us to go where we're called to go.
B
Keep the sheep. Because the minute we get a whiff of that anointing oil, we done forgot about the sheep. Sheep who? I'm a king.
C
I'm not picking up nobody or no ting's poop. I'm out. Where's my crown? Where's my throne? Where's my subjects? Where's my grapes? Who's going to feed them to me? Oil ain't even down the beard yet.
A
Gone.
B
But this is what we learned from David. Anointed, but still serving. David keeps the sheep. That means everywhere he went, he brought the anointing, even as he served kings. Wherever you go, you are bringing the anointing of the royal priesthood of who
C
you are into the thing that you
B
are still called to do until that
C
which is distressed has been moved out
B
of position for you to step into it. Keep the sheep. Gonna go to verse 15. And Saul's servants said to him, saul's servants speaking to Saul. Surely a distressing spirit from God is troubling you. I love having discern discerning people around you. They like to tell you when something's
C
up, something wrong with you, bro, this ain't it. Whatever this is. Yo, you got some things going on.
B
Let our master now command your servants who are before you to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that he will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you, and you shall be well. Verse 17. That's exactly what Saul sounded like. So Saul said to his servants, provide me now a man who can play well and bring him to me. I love these servants. They gave him the terms. Listen, this is what bothering you.
C
You need to look for this.
B
He's like, oh, say less. Find it. Bring it then. One of the servants answered and said, look, I have a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite.
C
I got through that. Hallelujah.
B
The Bethlehemite who is skillful in playing. And we're going to cover all of this. A mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person.
C
And the last part is the most important part. The Lord is with him. Now you have Saul, who the Lord is not with. And he has a distressing spirit. And of all the things that qualify
B
this person to come and enter into his presence, that last portion is telling. And the Lord is with him. So Saul now has a distressing spirit. He now has a spirit. And the only thing that can ease this distressing spirit is someone who can play the harp. And not just play it, play it in a very specific way that can quell a distressing spirit. Enter David. Now, here's the thing. David is now going to be called to Saul. David has been anointed king. His previous position, he was a shepherd. He still is a shepherd. Now he's being called to Saul the king. To do what? Worship. Number one, keep the sheep. Number two, worship. Because it is his worship that brings him into the opportunity to be where the king is.
C
He did not show up and say,
B
I smell like the. The anointing of a king. Make me a king, Saul.
C
Beat it.
B
I'm up next.
C
You out. No. What does he show up to do?
B
He shows up to serve and worship.
C
Why? Because he's been worshiping the whole time. In fact, he has been worshiping so effectively that these servants are like, oh, you need a worshiper. Say less. I was out in the field and I heard that alto, and I heard this man on a harp. And even though he's tending sheep, despite the noise of the sheep, I still hear the worship.
B
David was faithfully worshiping, not knowing that
C
his worship was going to be the
B
entry that gave Gateway the key to
C
the door that would allow him to
B
be in the position near the king.
C
For some of you who have been keeping your worship to yourself, you think the only time you need to worship is on a stage or in front of a microphone. And David was worshiping with sheep, practicing
B
the whole time, not knowing that at
C
some point God was going to distress that which was in front of him, so that his worship and his heart and his soil which was being tilled by his worship of his father, that worship was going to allow him to step into the position right next to the king.
B
Keep the sheep. Keep worshiping your father. Some of you need to let the worship out of you, whether it is
C
through instrument, whether it is by voice. I don't care if it's a cowbell or a tambourine.
B
Let your worship out as you keep the sheep. This is how you forge integrity.
C
Because it's hard to worship when you're
B
keeping sheep, especially when you know you're called to be a king. The timing of his anointing never interrupted his worship. Say that better.
C
He knew he was anointed to be king just because he was not king yet, just because he did not have the crown. That did not stop his worship. Some of us get a word from the Lord and we'll worship him when we get the word. But the time between the word being received and the time that the Word comes to pass, something in that interval starts to make our worship a little bit quieter. We're not worshiping him as we used to because he told us we were going to be further along than we are. He showed us where we were going to go. But we're still with the sheep. And now the sheep are louder than our worship. When those who need to know you as a worshiper, when those who need to know know your voice to know how much you love your father, are listening out so that they can refer you to the position that God is distressing, so that a person who loves God can fill the position. Instead of being loud with how you worship, instead of being consistent with how you worship, the sheep have worn out
B
your worship because you tired of keeping the sheep.
C
Worship is fresh.
B
When you get a word,
C
hallelujah, hey, let me hear your worship.
B
When you gotta keep a word,
A
Are
C
you just as loud? Do you still know him as your father? Day in, day out, Sheep poop in, sheep poop out. Lions, bears, loss that he bore. When you study scripture, he talked about how as a shepherd, anytime something came for his sheep, he was at that lion, he was at that bear. He would go into the mouth of an animal and pull it out. Anointed to be a king, but he's still doing the dirty work,
B
Forging integrity. This is what tills your heart. You know how, for lack of better words, you know how committed you are to your father when he gives you a word that is so far forward
C
and yet you still feel stuck where you are. And you see that distance and. And you don't feel like you're getting any closer, but your worship continues to get louder, not quieter. You worship him as loud as you can. You give him the honor and the praise and the glory as if you're already there. Even though it's miles, seasons, weeks, months, years away, you're worshiping him as if you're all ready, as if you're already there. That is what makes you a king. David was a king before he got to the throne, and that's why he got to the throne.
B
Keep your worship, keep the sheep. So they bring forth. They say, hey, this is verse 18. I have a son, Jesse, the Bethlehemite. I'm just going to keep saying that just because. Skillful in playing, mighty man of valor. Listen to these characteristics of this man because I don't want us to miss this. Where it says, who is skillful in playing? This word skillful means yada we're familiar with. This means to know.
C
In other words, it didn't just mean
B
that he could just randomly play whatever.
C
It means he knew what to play
B
and when to play it. This is someone who is worship with discernment. That means he is. Because remember, one of the things we know about David is, is the Spirit of the Lord was upon him. And I believe it is the spirit of the Lord that was upon him that allowed his worship to be amplified in such a way so that people who were not even in his sphere could receive it.
C
And it also made his worship so excellent so that whatever came forth from his instrument, whatever came forth from his
B
being, stopped the distress God creates. The distress. God creates that which answers to the distress. He has set the table for David, the shepherd and the worshiper to become king. All David has to do is keep the sheep and continue to worship. The table is set. If we will just keep to what God has called for us to do. Keep to the integrity of who God has called for us to be. He has already set the situation up
C
specifically for who he has created for
B
you to be to walk in and take the position. Amen. Says he's skillful in playing. This means he knows what to play. He knows when to play it.
C
He knows how to play it.
B
And it speaks specifically to the distressing spirit. Then it also speaks, he is a mighty man of valor. This word valor, when you look it up, is kiel. It's a force whether of men, means or resources. This is a mighty man of either men, means or resources.
C
Now, he's a shepherd, so he ain't got no men yet. But we understand because of the kind
B
of shepherd he is, he is resourceful with his means.
C
We also understand because of the effectiveness
B
of the shepherd that he is, that he means manages his resources.
C
This is someone who consistently Kept his sheep in such a way that when it was time for him to go into battle, he didn't go into battle with a sword. He went to battle with a slingshot.
B
Do you know how much practice you have to have to be able to
C
go into battle confidently, mind you, with a slingshot? This was not one of those things where the Lord was like, no, no, no. He picked it up, he said, this
B
is what I'm going to go to
C
battle with for some of us. If you would just continue to take what God gave you and continue to work what God gave you in every situation God gave it to you in. If you would just use your slingshot for the lion and use your slingshot for the bear instead of looking for weaponry and tools that God did not give you. What God gave you is what he's going to use when it's time to position you for where he's distressed for you to step into. But we get so frustrated with the
B
sheep, we put down the slingshot.
C
Now we're out of practice with the thing God has given us for the time when we're supposed to step into the position he's called for us to step into. David wasted no time. Saul tried to give him armor. He said, no, this doesn't fit me. I know it works because I've been working this thing with these sheep, with these wild animals for years, and it has been effective. And the last portion, the Lord is with me. So I have what he gave me and I have the Lord with me. Those are the only two things I need to step into, what my father has made room for me to receive.
B
I have the sheep that I have kept.
C
I have the worship I continue in,
B
and I have the weapon that he has given me, that I have honed for the moment.
C
Watch this.
B
That I didn't even know was coming.
C
Yeah, this was not a slingshot tutorial with a date.
B
They said, hey, I need you to
C
sharpen this for two and a half years. On this date, you're gonna go against a giant that's like 16ft tall. Be ready with the slingshot. He didn't know anything about that. He got up every morning with the same tool. The type of tool that nobody else would use in war. The type of tool that looks unfamiliar, that looks peculiar, that looks curious. The others. The type of tool that others would make fun of. Yet he takes this very thing and steps into the position God created for him. And now everybody's like, oh, that slingshot is crazy. The only warrior they're talking about after the encounter with Goliath is not the one with the sword. It's not the one with the chariots, it's not the one with the horses, is not the one with the armor. They're talking about the little boy with a slingshot.
B
Some of us are not willing to till our heart enough to figure out why it is we won't use the slingshot God gave us. They're using swords. I want to use a sword. God, how come I don't have a sword? They're using a dagger. I want to use a dagger. It looks cool. I want you to look cool like they do. He gave you what he gave you. And this last word that's in the description of him. Prudent. He's prudent. It says verse 18. Who is skillful in playing a mighty man of valor, a man of war, power. Prudent in speech. This word prudent, when you get to the root of it, is to separate mentally. In other words, to understand and to consider, to be diligent and direct, to discern and be eloquent.
C
How do they know all of this
B
about this shepherd boy? This means everywhere he went, he was having conversations with people and he was doing it in such a way where these were the qualities that were assigned to him.
C
You have to be very careful about
B
the encounters that you're having. And you don't think they have anything to do with your calling and your
C
anointing, but what they're doing right now
B
is writing your resume for you.
C
Because the person you're talking to right now or the person who's ear hustling and watching you talk to the stranger right now is the one that's going to refer you so that you can be in the position that has been distressed for you to step into. The forging of David's integrity was happening in areas nobody else was really paying attention to. This servant talks about David like they're homies.
B
Look at this man.
C
Look at. Listen to the way he worships and the way he talks to people and the way he stewards and how resourceful he is. All of this is what he's heard David's reputation just from daily interaction. Him and Sheaf. We don't even necessarily know that he was in town talking to everybody. We don't know that he was networking. He was at every event and at every function and handing out his business card. Hey, see this oil on his business card. I'm anointed to be a king. Keep my business card. I got you When I become king, He wasn't on LinkedIn. Like, check out my profile, look at my stats. When I become king, I'm gonna hook you up.
B
David kept the sheep David worshiped. David honed his weapon while others he didn't realize were watching were watching. Oh, my Lord. We're going to leave on this last point. 1st Samuel 17:15. And at some point, Saul takes to knowing who David is and he comes in and David worships. And of course, the discerning spirit leaves. And we Skip forward to 1st Samuel 17 and 15. And I don't want you to lose this point, it says, but David occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem. So David was on a shuttle. Some of us don't want to shuttle back and forth. Once you anoint me king and I get a whiff of the palace, I'm not going back. I ain't going back. I ain't going back. I ain't going back. See this palace? It's nice in here. All I gotta do is sit down and play this instrument. I don't have to follow the sheep. I don't have to pick up the sheep poop. I don't have to herd them around. I'm not on the lookout for food for them.
C
I'm getting fed. All I gotta do is sit in
B
this corner and play.
C
Let this crazy man calm down. Oh, I ain't going back.
B
That's when you send the messenger, pop, I found this gig.
C
I don't know what you're gonna do with them sheep, but I'm up in here now. I'm anointed to be king and I'm in the palace. So she surely this must be my opportunity. This must be the moment where I become king. This is it right here. I'm in the palace.
B
There's the king.
C
He's in my spot. And I got the anointing and the Lord is with me.
B
That last part, because while that is also very exciting, it also means we have to be discerning.
C
Because just because the Lord is with
B
us, that doesn't mean the first thing that comes into my mind is the thing I'm supposed to do. So David continues to go from worshipping for the king to feeding his father's sheep at Bethlehem. For those of us kings who are trying to understand what. What the process of forging integrity looks like. It looks like being in your current position going forward and getting an understanding, an encounter, you get a taste of
C
the future and you are still integrous
B
enough to go back to the assignment
C
and you don't act any differently. It's very important. Don't go into the future. Come back to the assignment and act brand new.
B
Don't play with me.
C
The minute you get up to the 44th floor, all of a sudden you go back down to the mail room and you are different. You will not sort noting. No, I don't do that. I've been to the 44th floor. God told me there was a promotion over my life and I wound up delivering, delivering mail to the 44th floor. This is my time to shoot my shot. Because he told me this is where I'm supposed to be. And once you get a whiff of that fresh carpet, oh, you go down to the mail room.
B
Can't nobody tell you nothing.
C
Why?
B
Because I'm on my way to the 44th floor. Meanwhile, David, anointed as a king, can go and posture himself to worship. Watch this worship in a way to ease the distress of the one who is in the position God has called for him to be in.
C
Because some of us would have strummed that harp in a different way and distressed him a little more to try to get him out of position. Oh, he looks like sick. I don't know if you want him to be king. I still got some oil on me. I'm ready.
B
He goes. He postures himself to worship to ease the distress of the one who's in his position.
C
And after his call is finished for that moment, where do we find David?
B
Back with the sheep. This is what forging integrity looks like. This is what happens when we trust our Father with the process. He has anointed you. Yes, you can smell the oil. But now it's time to faithfully endure and go through the process of what it is to ultimately step into the position of being the king, the kingly
C
person that you already are in that position.
B
Last thing I'm going to leave you with.
C
You don't become a king when you get there. David did not become all of the
B
things you hear about David when it
C
was time for him to put his crown on. Because there's plenty more that takes place with David before he actually receives the crown and unites the kingdom.
B
But as a mighty man of valor, as a worshiper, as a shepherd, all
C
of those things were built in the
B
quiet before it took place. If we would be willing to let our Father shape and forge our integrity, because it is our integrity that gets us to the position to be. Be who he has called for us to be.
C
You won't get there any sooner.
B
And in fact, you should pray to
C
not get there any sooner. Because if your integrity is not intact, that crown will kill you. Ask Saul.
B
Saul was anointed. Saul stepped in the position, but the integrity didn't come with him. He and his. His reign was cut short because even
C
though all of the things we mentioned
B
took place, he didn't have the process that David had. His integrity was not forged because he did not do what God ultimately called for him to do. David, in the midst of all of his mistakes. And there were many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many. But God said, I know your heart because I know where you were forged. You're still a shepherd. You're a shepherd who messed up, but you're still a shepherd. You're a worshiper. You're a worshiper. You messed up, but you're still a worshiper. God knew David's heart. So when David did mess up and David repented, God could honor the repentance of David. Like, in a way, he could never honor the repentance of Saul because Saul did not have that in him and David did. The shepherd, the worshiper, the mighty man of valor, never left David, even as he was on the throne. It's what got him there to begin with. And that's my encouragement for us on Father's Day. Sons and daughters, your father is forging your integrity, and he is preparing and distressing what needs to be distressed. My encouragement for all of us, keep the sheep, continue to worship him, sharpen your tool and keep your ears clean so that you can hear him and obey like no other. And that's what brings you to where he's got for you. Amen. I spoke of the Father. And if there's someone who hears me when I say Father on Father's Day, and it triggers something, and if you're 100% honest, what it triggers is something that makes you move away from the Father, not towards Him. I want to bring an invitation to you today. There's one way to the Father. There's one way that allows you to have the journey that brings you so close to the Father. You would never want to leave him. Because I'm telling you, he will never leave you. And that's through Jesus. As you study, David is known as a type of Jesus. David was a shepherd king. Jesus was a carpenter who was a king. And you see the characteristics, David and Jesus. In fact, Jesus comes from the line of David. If there's anyone here who wants to begin a life walking with Jesus, because you know, you need a heavenly father. You need a heavenly prayer presence. You need a heavenly cover, you need a heavenly wisdom.
C
For some of you, you just need a heavenly hug. If that's you, put your hand up
B
today because your father's got you. I see you, sir. I see you. I see you, too. I see you too.
C
Your father has got you. Your father has had you the whole time.
B
Today is the day you take a couple steps closer to him so he can bring you on in for the embrace of the spirit that you've been waiting for. Let's all pray together. Spirit of the living God, we thank
C
you for your love. We thank you for Jesus.
B
Thank you for making him who had no sin, all of ours, all of our shortcomings, all of our failures, he
C
took them to the cross. He nailed them to the cross, put them all to death. And when he was raised up, we were raised up too. Free, victorious, virtuous, and forged in our integrity. Now, Holy Spirit, dwell in me. Live in me. Speak through me. Lead me into the embrace of my heavenly Father and don't let go. In Jesus name, amen. Amen.

In this Father’s Day episode, Ebenezer Quaye explores the concept of “Forging Integrity” through the biblical journey of King David, using his story as a blueprint for developing godly character. The message focuses on how God shapes our integrity in hidden seasons, the importance of faithful service before promotion, and how true royal authority comes from a heart constantly "tilled" and searched by God. The teaching draws practical lessons for contemporary believers to cultivate integrity, obedience, and worship in every stage of life.
“As a king, it is my job to investigate. It isn’t just my job to sit passively… if we are really going to walk with the fullness of our crowns… it’s time for us to search ourselves out, our hearts.” — Ebenezer Quaye [04:08]
“For some of us, the biggest challenge we’re going to have as kings is being anointed and still staying in position to fulfill what we were called to fulfill, where we are now…” — E.Q. [21:00]
“You’re not going to have to distress anyone. God will distress what needs to be distressed… You just have to keep the sheep.” — E.Q. [20:13]
“David was faithfully worshiping, not knowing that his worship was going to be the entry that gave gateway, the key to the door that would allow him to be in the position near the king.” [26:11]
“For those of us kings who are trying to understand what...forging integrity looks like. It looks like being in your current position, going forward and getting an understanding, an encounter, you get a taste of the future and you are still integrous enough to go back to the assignment and you don’t act any differently.” [43:20]
