Hi. I love you. I'm so grateful to be here. I've been waiting for this day since the month of May started. The fact that it's the 31st is torture. May 1st, I was waiting for the 31st and had to try to calm my nerves. I love your pastor. I love your pastor in a way that words cannot justify. And I teach and preach for a living. I communicate for a living. This woman is dear to me, dear to my wife, Juliet, dear to our family. We love you. We cover you. We protect you. I flew here, which means everything's okay. If I drive here, I'm popping that trunk. We gonna let the joy of the Lord out? So stupid to try to, like, spiritualize. Violence is crazy. I'm gonna let the joy of the Lord stop playing, Tim. Pray for somebody. Stop. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your commitment to God's word. Thank you for your commitment to this house. Thank you for saying yes to this assignment. We're better because you're here. We are better because you're here. Okay. I have an assignment. If you have your Bibles, I like to make declarations before I get into the word of God. They just help me open up. So it might seem a little bit awkward or strange to you, just go with it. I'm going back home. You don't have to see me next week. It's fine. All right. So if you have your Bible, I want you to put it up really, really high in the air. If you have a paper Bible, if you have a digital Bible, put it up real, real high in the air. It doesn't matter which one. If you don't have a phone or a Bible, definitely put your Hand in the air because we gotta pray for you to get a phone. It is 2026, you need a device. How are you getting home? How are you safe? Oh, my goodness. Real high. Unless you worked last night and your deodorant has worn off, Then go halfway, but if you're sure. Oh, they don't know that. Well, I was born in the 1900s. All my jokes live in the 1900s. Real loud. Repeat after me today. Louder. Today the Holy Spirit is about to speak to me about peace. After today, I will know and fully understand that the enemy is trying to get me to trade my peace for anything else. But after today, though. No, like, for real. After today though, I will know that my peace is non transferable. All right, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. Ooh, I'm so hyped. If you have your Bibles, I want you to go to the book of acts, chapter number 12. The Book of Acts, chapter number 12. I want to read a few verses in your hearing. Then we'll pray and see what the Holy Spirit will say. Is that all right? Acts, chapter number 12. I'm reading from the tree of life version of the Bible. It's so Jewish. Now, at the time, Herod the king seized some of some from Messiah's community to do them harm. He had Jacob, John's brother, put to death with the sword. Seeing it pleased the Judean leaders, he proceeded to capture Peter as well. This was during the days of Matzah. After seeing him, he put him in prison, handing him over to four squads with. With four soldiers each to guard him. He was intending to bring him before the people after Passover. So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer for him was being offered fervently by God, to God, by Messiah's community. Now, that very night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers, while guards before the gate were keeping watch over the prison. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He poked Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, get up quick. And the chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, get dressed and put on your sandals. And he did so. Then he tells him, put on your cloak and follow me. Peter went out and kept following him. He. He didn't know that what was happening with the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. After they passed a first guard and a second, they came to the iron gate. Leading into the city, it opened for them by itself. They went out and walked along a narrow street. Suddenly, the angel left him. When Peter came to himself, he said, now I know for real that the Lord has sent his angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Judean people were expecting. I want you to pay close attention to verse number six. Now. That very night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping, bound between two chains, bound with two chains, between two soldiers, while guards before the gate were keeping watch over the prison. If you're taking notes on this message, the title of this message, two words, very simple. Sleepy Peace. I want to talk to you about Sleepy Peace. Sleepy Peace. Bow your heads. Let's pray over the word, shall we? Holy Spirit, help us to sleep. Amen. I pray quick. I'm the one you went over for Thanksgiving dinner. We will eat it while it's hot. We'll pray for the nations later. But we're going to eat this. It would be difficult for me to help you understand the sheer beauty of acts, chapter number 12 without taking you back and giving you some context on how we get to this episode. When Jesus is wrapping up his earthly ministry in the Gospel According to St. John, chapters 14, 15, 16, he begins to articulate to them the promise of the Holy Spirit. He begins to share with them that I have been with you, but there was another person coming. Understand? Not a feeling, not it, not something. There was another person coming. And he's not going to be with you. He's going to be in you. He will convict the world of its sins. He will bring back everything that I have instructed and taught you. He will bring it back to your memory. He will lead you and guide you into everything that is the truth, which is me. And then he makes this statement that is profound. Because as he's wrapping up his earthly ministry, Jesus has the opportunity to leave his disciples, soon to be his apostles, with anything. Not just anything. Everything. And I'm enamored by what he left. Because he doesn't leave wisdom. We would need that he doesn't leave discernment. We would need that. He doesn't leave us with resources. That would have been amazing. Give all the money to us, sir. We will do right by you, sir. He doesn't leave us even with power. He says, I have one thing to leave you. And we were given a hint of what this one thing would be by the eagle eyed prophet, Isaiah. In Isaiah chapter number nine, he says this description of the Messiah, the one that is to come. He said he would be a wonderful counselor. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Now, if you're going to be the prince of peace, I would. It would make sense that what you would bestow upon your departure would be peace. But that's it. You about to leave us here in this crazy world and the only thing you want us to have is peace? John, chapter number 14, verse number 27. He says, Shalom, I leave you. Shalom I give to you, but not as the world gives. Which strongly implies, ladies and gentlemen, that the world does have a version of peace. Let's not get it twisted. The world has some things that can bring you peace, but it only brings you peace temporarily. The peace that the world offers always wears off. What the Master is saying is, I have a peace that I want to leave you, and it's never going to wear off. You get it in this life and you keep it in the life to come. He says, I'm leaving you this. I'm giving you this. Not as the world gives. So neither be thou troubled or afraid. This implies that this is not just Jesus glitter. This implies that it's not just the chill bumps that you feel when worship is being sung or the feeling of safety that we have when we gather as believers to lift up the name of Jesus. We Yeshua's literally saying, this piece that I'm giving you is going to take away your feelings of anxiety and trouble. I'm giving you something to literally regulate your bodily nervous system. This whole world's gonna crash out, but you won't. This whole world is gonna be triggered, but you won't, because I'm literally giving you something that if you receive it, is going to keep you calm while everybody else is crashing out. They had experienced this when they were on a boat going to the other side of the lake. Jesus was sleeping so deeply that when the boat was doing this, water going in, the boat splashing in his face, your boy was still sleep. Peter and the rest of the disciples, many of them that were seafaring men, got so scared they go to wake them up because they panicked and panic went and woke up peace. But here was the thing. Panic woke up peace. But when peace woke up, it didn't panic. Anybody beside me ever got startled in the middle of the night. Somebody wake you up, Mama, Daddy, What's going on? Their panic makes you panic. 12 men brought panic to peace, and peace woke up and didn't panic. Peace was so peaceful that it recognized the dysregulation in the 12 disciples and said, I can't talk to y' all right now. Because a peaceful person knows that a dysregulated person cannot hear them. So Peace wakes up, walks right past panic and goes to rebuke what was making them panic. Now, you got to get this. Scripture says, he rebukes the wind and tells the waves to calm down. Peace does something that Panic cannot do. Peace knows how to discern panic, does not discern panic, rebukes everything. I rebuke y' all and it and them and those. All of y' all get out. But Peace knows how to discern what is the agitator and what is the agitated. He understands that the only reason why the waves were troubled was because of the wind. And the waves were rocking the boat and the boat were rocking the disciples. But the waves were not the issue. The wind was. Sometimes we're rebuking the wrong thing. Maybe it's not your kids. Maybe it's what's agitating your kids. Maybe it's not the job. Maybe it's the boss that's in that position over that job. You gotta. Peace will be able to discern what to rebuke and what to tell to calm down. So, so, so, so, so he rebukes the wind, the waves calm down when the waves calm down. The boat calm down when the boat calms down. The disciples calm down when the. The disciples calm down. Then he talks to them. Once Regulation returns, he says, why are you afraid? Even now? You don't have any faith. And as he goes on, he wants them to know, I want you to have what I have. You're going to need what I have right now. So in John, chapter number 20, something that we really don't pay a lot of attention to. Pentecost was last Sunday. And we talk about Acts, chapter number two, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the power that comes. But those 11 already had the Holy Spirit because Yeshua comes to them through a locked door. They were still scared, still triggered, still dysregulated. Peter had gone back to his old job. They didn't know what to do. Judas killed himself. They don't. Thomas not even there. So it's actually, you know what? My count was wrong. It wasn't eleven. Ten were there. Judas is dead. Thomas is like, man, I can't call it. I'm going back to the house. Just 10 men in the room. He comes through the locked door and he says, peace be unto you. He says, Peace be unto you. Shalom aleichem. Peace be unto you. He says it twice to them. Then he says, receive the Holy Spirit. And he, he breathed on them second man Adam, doing what happened to the first man Adam.

first man Adam got breathed into the second man Adam breathed out on. He breathed on them and said, receive the Holy Spirit. And I believe the reason why he came in this private moment wasn't to give them power, was to give them peace. Because Yeshua did not want the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to come down on dysregulated bodies. Have you ever seen people with power but no peace? Those are some scary people. People that have power but no peace. Corrupt people that have power and no peace, abuse people that have power and no peace, Destroy people have because they're too discombobulated. So he says, yes, I want this outpouring publicly to happen, but I don't want it to happen until you have some real peace. And here's how I know it was peace. I'm grateful for the power. Power is great. I'm grateful for all the blind eyes that was open and remember, they get filled with the Holy Spirit. They start speaking in other languages. I'm talking about other known languages. It would be like those people out there coming out of that room. Hola. Como estas? Buenos dias. Esto aqui hablar. La iglesia es hora. And they're like, nobody spoke Spanish back then. I'm just saying. The power was magnificent. They preached the Gospel 3000, Peter's first sermon, 3,000 people get saved. It's own and cracking. Acts chapter number three, they, they heal a lame man in front of a beautiful gate. And that man goes to walking, leaping and jumping and praising God. And Caiaphas and Annas, the high priest, they called them in and said, if you don't stop doing what you're doing, we're going to do the same thing to Yeshua that we did to you. I mean, we're going to do the same thing to you that we did to Yeshua. And they're like, and now these were cowards. Peter denied them three times. This is not just boldness. You need boldness to do something you scared to do. You need peace. When somebody wants to do something to you, you don't face that with boldness. You gotta face that with peace. If y' all don't stop talking about Jesus, we gonna throw you in jail. They like, I don't, you know what, I don't know what to tell you. I'm so sorry. I was in the locker room. He came and breathed on me and things. Now I got a piece that, I mean, I don't need. I can't even. This is why I believe Paul penned it. The way he pinned it. The peace of God that passes. Cause it don't make no sense that I'm actually not troubled by what you just said. If this was the old me, I'd have met you outside. Gotta remember, Peter was gangster. Peter had already cut off somebody's ear. Do you know how dope you gotta be with a sword to be like, Can you hear what I'm saying to you? You know how shink, shink you gotta be. This wasn't just about boldness. These men had an incredible peace. Acts chapter number five. They get arrested. All of them get rounded up and arrested. They're in prison. They. This is the thing that's happened. When you get peace, your prayers change. All of them got locked up in Acts chapter number five. They were all in prison, and not one person prayed to get out. See, when you don't have peace, the moment you get into trouble, you're like, God, give me. Oh, God, I need you. Oh, God, I need you. Open up a door out of heaven. Open up a door out of heaven. God, I need you. God, You get another level of peace. You be in that same situation, talking about and prison. What? I was preaching the gospel. Y' all lock me up. You think I'm scared? So they in there overnight all together, and an angel just opens up the door and lets them out. So they come out, and this how you know you different? They came out, they got locked up for preaching. They get out, and nobody is like, hey, man, let's change locations. The block is hot. We can't be out here. There's too much smoke on the corner. Let's find a new place. No. The next day, they found him in the same spot. They got arrested again. They was out there preaching again. Anybody beside me already got a commitment to God that you like. I don't care what you do to me at this point. This is my life. This is my testimony. This is my witness, and there's nothing you can say. You gonna have to fire me from the job then. Cause I cannot take back what I have both seen and heard. This is the context that sets up Acts 12. King Agrippa the First is persecuting Christians, much to the Judeans delight. They killed Jacob, the brother of John. King Agrippa got so hyped about the cheers of the people that he started feeling himself, he was like, oh, y' all like that? Okay, I'm gonna run it back. Then get Peter. They was like, yeah, get that fool. We really sick of him. I mean, you got Jacob, but get that. So they got him. They locked him up. And Harrod said, y' all ain't about to clown me like you did in Acts 5. Y' all talking about. An angel got them out. One of y' all flipped. I don't know which one of y' all was on their side, but I bet you it don't happen again. So he got four squadrons of four guards each, 16 soldiers. He put them on rotation. Don't put Peter in the regular cell. Put that fool in a cell. In a cell, huh? Bring him in. Gate one, walk him down. Gate two, walk them down. And he said, and just to make sure, chain yourself to him. So Peter is chained between two guards with. With two chains, thus letting you know that there's nothing new under the sun. Peter was the first two chains. Just wanted to let everybody know everything in cultures, in the Bible, first two chains is Peter. So Peter. Herod arrested him to kill him. He had already done it to Jacob. Now he's ready to do it to Peter. And this seems like it would be the time to panic. It seems like it would be the time to, like, start praying. Because the only reason why I'm not dead right now is because it's Passover. Thank God for Passover. But if God doesn't intervene, I'm dead tomorrow. With that on his mind, Peter in between two chains. It's like, you know what? Hey, hey. Move a little closer. No, for real. Like, no, no. Move. Y' all gotta stay awake. I don't. Y' all gotta guard me. I don't need nobody to guard me. God got me. I could die tomorrow. I don't even care. That's how much peace I got. So let me tell you how I'm gonna deal with this situation right here. Do you actually think I'm gonna be woke waiting to see what God's gonna do in this situation? I have the same disposition as Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah did in Daniel, chapter number three. I don't call them by their slave names, but here's. Here's the disposition of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Oh, Nebuchadnezzar. We do not have to worry about your threats because we know our God is able to save us from this fiery furnace. But this is where it Gets gangster. But even if he don't, do I got any people in here that gotta. Even if he don't, God, you can get me out of this situation, but even if you let it be known, I will not be awake trying to figure out what you gonna do. I'm going to sleep. You ever been caught in between two situations? You ain't quite here and you ain't quite there and you feel bound to the middle of it and you up pacing the floor all night trying to figure out what's going to happen. You got all the prayer warriors praying for you. Here was Peter's response. I don't know what God's going to do, but I don't have to stay up to find out. I'm trying to get somebody to have a sleepy peace. I don't know if I'm a half enough money for rent. Is staying up till 4:30 gonna. You done already crunched the numbers four times. It all tallies up to say I'm broke, So I might as well now go to sleep. Listen, I don't preach about things that are theoretical in my Life. This was 2025 for me last year. In January, I had to walk away from a business I co founded. I lost 70% of my income. Gone. I told the Lord, I guess I got to get a job. I'm about to Uber, Huh? Cause I'm bougie now, so I had to. You do uber? I don't uber. I uber. You a valet at that hotel? That's not a valet. That's a valette. I valette over there. No, I told the Lord, listen, I don't need this income to come back. This may be my new normal. I will sell this house. I will downsize. I will do whatever we need to do. Guess what I did not do all of last year? Because that thing didn't come back all of last year. I don't want you. I don't want you to think like you're. It ended in January and my money went away. And by June. No, the whole. The whole year was manna. The whole year. And you know what my conclusion was, Dr. Sister? Manna is delicious. Oh, don't think just because I graduated from them fried bologna situation, I don't know how to go back to those. I will toast that bread, get that French's mustard, and remove that red tape from around that bologna and put it back in that skillet, cut them three slices in it so it don't turn into a bowl, huh? Grab me some Fritos and Eat. You think I need aji tuna to serve? Jesus? I will get this wolf brand chili, the success rice, and go ham on y'. All. Guess what? I didn't lose all of last year. I refused to trade it in. Whether my circumstance changed or not, I refused to trade it in and I refused to lose any sleep. The Michael Jackson biopic was spectacular. I got to relive my entire childhood through watching that movie. I got to sit next to my kids in the movie theater. And when they did the Motown at The Grammys, the 25th anniversary, I got to tell them I was watching this with my eyeballs live because I was born in the 1900s. I saw this with my own eyes. You have to see Jaffir do it. I saw it myself. And it stopped at a great part. Like, let's remember Michael right there, just there. But we know where the movie ended is not where he ended. We know about the controversy. We know about the tribulations. We know about the trauma. We know about the drama. We know that this. This man who had all this fame, all this wealth, all this influence, Couldn't sleep. What good would it do to have everything you ever wanted and then need a medical grade drug so strong it can knock an elephant out? He gives his children rest. And the burden of my heart to today is for somebody to be able to sleep tonight in a way they have never slept before without the assistance of something external to quiet what he already gave us for the internal. There's a song that we usually only sing around the holidays, but there's a refrain in it that I feel like is what I want for everybody in this room. Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace. If this message was for you and sleep has not been your portion, I believe the God of the universe wants to bring a regulation to you where none of these things externally bother you anymore, that even if you're in between two pressures, two difficulties, too much, you can just put your head in the pillow and go to sleep. If that's you, would you just stand? I just want you to get some sleep, like real sleep. Here's the thing. Peace is not the absence of feeling any other emotion. You can still feel scared. You can still feel like, oh, my goodness, how is this going to happen? God, I need, oh, how's this going to work out? Or my relationships are frayed and this is strained over here. And this strain, it doesn't take away any of the other emotions. You just don't trade it away. I refuse to trade my peace for this. I Feel it. It's real. I've started to use a new word. Dr. Sister. I'm concerned about stuff. I no longer care about stuff. He told me to cast my cares. Doesn't mean I'm not concerned. Gas prices out here. It's very concerning. I'm gonna need whatever's going on over there to hurry up. I don't care. I'm concerned about all my relationships. I want them all to be good and stuff. But I'm not gonna care enough to lose sleep. Now. Here's the test. I'm so glad I get to preach this on a Sunday. Cause we get to, like, do something that I already know everybody about to do. No prophetic unction, nothing. No discernment. Here's what I know. A Sunday nap is coming after y' all go to brunch and have them chicken and waffles or whatever y' all gonna eat. I need you to test this out today. I want you to practice putting your body down when all your anxiety is up. I'm going to just lay down on this. I can't do nothing about it. Up. Anyway. They ain't called you back. You can't control them. Go to sleep. Well, I don't know if I'm gonna have a job, but you won't know until the email comes. Go to sleep. Do you know Peter was so sleepy that when the angel woke him up and got him up out of there. He didn't even know that it was. That the thing was real until he was outside. Right. They just have to poke him to get him up. I want you to. I want you to have another level of peace. I don't want stuff to bother you like it used to bother you. The enemy. The enemy tried to get me to focus on my business partner last year. He wanted me to trade my peace for anger with my business partner. And was I. I was like. But then I'm not gonna go to sleep, though. Cause I'm gonna want to go see him. You feel me? Like, if I trade my piece, if I trade my P, E, A, C, E. I'm gonna pick up that P, I, E, C, E. And get to pistol, whip, whip, whipping, set, set tripping. And I can't do that. That's. That's not my life no more. Not my life no more. I don't even dress like my former life. I dress like a Japanese architect now. Why are your pants so wide? This helps my body know that I'm not. I had to change my clothes to get up out of there. I just want you to put your hands out like you're receiving something. Because you are. Holy Spirit. It's your peace. You didn't just come to outpour power, you came to give peace. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace. So Holy Spirit, I pray that we sleep in a way we have never slept before. I pray that you would give us the peace that passes all understanding, that guards our heart and our minds. Through Christ Jesus, may all of our cares disappear and may all of our peace reappear. For your glory. None of our credit. In Jesus name, amen.
