“Discernment” is thrown around like a buzz word, especially in Catholic circles, to the point where sometimes people say they are “discerning” something that makes no sense to discern! It’s also overused in these same circles….this is where we believe a lot of the “noise” surrounding this topic comes from. Some people also, mistakenly, conflate & use the word “discernment” in lieu of “decision”/”decision making” interchangeably even though they are different at their cores. Let's dive in to the definition of discernment & how to do it with poise!
