And I'm not saying that, but I'm saying that because y' all have a good product. Like, I went on the podcast, and I genuinely had a good time.

When me and Drea do interviews with people and we'll leave, we be like, ooh, how long you think they got? Yeah, yeah. But we went on there, and I'm like, this is a great idea. It's unique in this space, the way y' all take calls. Y' all have yalls banter. It's a good show. And I get really upset when I see black women who have a good show and they just kind of give up because we were at the BET Awards all weekend, all doing the stuff. And I'm like, it should be more black women podcasters in here. Like, I feel like when we show up in these spaces, it really just be me and Draya, and I'm like, so much space and opportunity for y' all to really, like, go in and do.

But I will say it is a learning curve. Like, I think you guys have mastered it in a way that people don't talk about. It's like, oh, they do content. Like, it's more than that. It's having a great producer, having somebody to shoot behind the scenes. Y' all came on our show.

[Drea Nicole]

We ain't know what Patreon was.

We pulled out that little camera, like,

It's definitely acting, for sure. Sometimes. I mean, we talked about. No. You reacting to it, but we've talked about this on our show. Like, I mean, we've been doing this show since 27. 2018. 2018. So Lex and I have, like, transformed into so many different versions of ourselves, and, like, it's been times where we didn't get along. Like, we both lost parents. Like, it's real life situations that we having to navigate. And so sometimes when the camera come out, you gotta put on the fab and, like, make it work. And you might not necessarily be feeling what's coming off on camera, but you gotta do your job.

And I think that's the interesting part. When we would have those moments, we'd be like, all right, we'll see y' all in three months.

[Lex P (co-host)]

Yeah, we'd be gone.

[April]

We were like, okay, we're gonna take a break. We'll see you next episode, and we're gonna go on vacation all summer. So now this is not. That's not our reality.

[Lex P]

Yes. Because one thing about it in the podcasting world, if you don't post for, like, two weeks, you're literally forgotten about that quick. Like, you have to be consistent, because they'll be like, oh, well, they're not serious, and they're not, you know, they will kind of move on for real.

[Savannah]

So I guess that's been nice with our audience.

Our audience. Like, where y' all at?

Yeah, because y'. All.

That's. Because it's a good product. They gonna be coming back, you know,

And I feel like, too. Y' all had the luxury, though, to be able to do that, like, because y' all both have other businesses. Y' all have other things going on, Lex. And I was like, we gotta make this shit work, bitch.

What the are we going to do? So I do want to talk about, too, like, what was the inspiration behind y' all deciding to start the podcast together? Because obviously, y' all have been friends for years, but what made y' all be like, okay, we going to start a podcast. We going to give people a little more insight to us and our personality.

Yeah, it definitely came off of FaceTime calls and US just downloading on the day and being like, yo, what the is going on? Like, people are crazy.

[Drea Nicole]

Everything is crazy.

[Savannah]

And just the different things that she would deal with and things I would deal with it's like, are other people going through this? Like, we got to know what is. What is happening in the world.

[Drea Nicole]

Right.

[Savannah]

That's kind of where it stemmed from.

And I think also we had gotten asked to do a show, and we did a little pilot.

[Lex P]

Okay.

And we were like, yeah, no, it

[Lex P]

was like a reality show kind of like.

Like, follow us. Like, oh, my God, YouTube friends. And I was like, this shit is fake. Because I think some of the things that we were saying, they were like, sorry, that's gonna need to be edited. And I was like, no, that's how we really feel. And then we were like, well, what else could we do that allows us freedom of speech? I think it really goes back to speaking your truth, being different or being the same and being in a space where it's welcome. So we felt like, okay, we can have a podcast maybe.

But we didn't really mean to have a podcast. So we trialed it, and we had a trap phone we bought from the.

And we was like, all right, let's see if people call us. And then that thing was like, I'm already know. So we were answering it, and we were recording ourselves.

It was the worst setup. We made it happen.

And then somebody posted it on Twitter. Oh, and our agent called us. We had an agent at wme, and he called. He's like, y' all having a podcast? And like, no, we. No, what you talking about? And he, like, was on Twitter, but we ain't got Twitter.

[Drea Nicole]

Yeah.

So we didn't even see it.

Oh, it's hell over there.

Like, so we were like, no, we weren't sure. And he like, I think you guys are going to do a podcast. Y' all should try on it. And they were great. They were supportive. They were like, set it up. See if you can shoot a few episodes. See how it goes. And then we did it. And we were like, oh, this is fun. Yeah, it's nice to sit here and just be free. Right. I will say that.

And I think we can attest to that, too. Like, doing TV is very different because they're like, no, say it like this. But I'm like, I don't talk like that.

The hair BT it made me on point every time. So I do want to touch back on business a little bit because y' all just announced your new holding company. So let's talk about that and what the inspiration behind starting that was. And, you know, how did y' all come up with that?

I mean, I think really it came down to efficiency because we have two businesses together. Everybody's crazy and Let it break.

Can you talk about what let it break?

So everybody's crazy. Obviously. You guys know it's a podcast, but we say it's the humor of us.

[Lex P]

And let it Break is like, the heart, you know, I think Let It Break is a women's organization based in New York and la. It's membership and subscription model, and it's all about personal development and becoming the best version of yourself. And I think both me and Savannah have gone on, like, a healing journey to refine who we are, how we deal with things. And we felt like it was hard, and through that journey, we were like, we need to figure out how to give this to more people quicker.

Yeah.

Like, I think a lot of times it is a pivotal point, whether it's death or, you know, a heartbreak or something that makes you feel kind of reevaluate where you are. And I think we were like, if we could give a cheat code to women, this would be great. So we kind of bottled up everything we researched, did amongst us, and we built this organization. There's about 400 women that are a part of it now. We're accepting additional members that'll be accepted in September. So we have those two businesses, and then it just efficiencies. We were sitting in a bunch of meetings. She has reframe. I have a crown and conquer. I mean, it's four businesses amongst the two of us, you know, Like, I'll be honest. When you hear comments like, we're sitting on the sofa.

[Lex P]

Chad, don't get me started, because I get to the comments, and I starts to argue, yes, I was sitting there fighting.

Yes. No one's sitting on nobody's sofa, right?

[Drea Nicole]

Yeah.

Like, never have. Never did. We take breaks.

She takes breaks. But to black girl doing a product line based out of Korea, product in Korea. Going back and researching, stepping out of your comfort zone. I just think for me it's so interesting, the perception and then what it really is. So the holding company is big.

You know, I think most people start with a holding company at the top, and then they venture out and build other brands, businesses. We took three very established businesses. Crown and Conquer has been around 10 years. Like, it is a real business. Yeah. You know, and we've raised a lot of money. We don't even talk about it. Like, people don't even. And it's not from LeBron James.

[Lex P]

I know, right?

You know, as much as we love him, he's a huge supporter of everything we do. We didn't take money from him. We went out and did it on our own. We were uncomfortable and getting for it, asking for money for people to support us, but we did it. And so the holding company kind of brings the three businesses together for efficiency and just evolution. Like, you know what you know and what you don't. You better hire somebody to know it for you. And I think a lot of times I've gotten to where I've gotten on Crown and Conquer, and I'm good.

There's just some things I should not be doing right at this point in my life, and that's hard to come to that realization as a founder. And then there's certain things Savannah's learning. I don't know nothing about no beauty. I work off of common sense. Like, somebody just started lime, putting it in, like, select locations, doing what she's doing. Like, I just think some people don't realize starting a podcast we don't know nothing about. No podcast.

I produce events I had to set up. Getting a trap phone, setting up a camera, doing whatever. Like, let it break. Going on a personal healing journey and saying we want to bring it to other women. I think everything we've done has been rare, and I think for once, we really want to build something that has sustainability and legacy, and that's, like, what's important to us.

Well, that's amazing. Congratulations on that. Because I feel like a lot of people in this space, too. They don't want to share their knowledge. Knowledge. I don't know why. That's the thing. So just like, oh, you learn something, and you keep it to yourself. So the fact that y' all have been, like, out here helping them because y' all did a trip or something. Yes, with the lady.

I wanted to ask y', all, how do y' all balance, like, motherhood and then just still being women and, like, living your life, but setting a good example for your children but not letting it define you at the same time and still, like, being like, okay, mama gotta have a lifestyle, too.

I put all my energy into my kids when I first. I had my first when I was 18, and I had my second when I was 20. So I was just being a mom. Like, that's all I. That's just. I have a tribe, so it's not like I'm by myself. I got people helping me.

So I decided to start traveling, like getting away a little bit. I had a little bit of mom guilt, but you know, I'm like, I have to do this. I have to do this for me. I knew she was watching me and like telling me that she was watching me. I'm like, oh, yeah, I got to, I got to do something different.

So I think that it takes a little bit of time because. Because you want to give yourself a minute to get your bearings. Because it's a lot like having a baby is a lot. So I think you just got to give yourself some time.

Like, you know, So I think there is something to say for, like, the responsibility that comes with parenthood that I feel like, you know, mom, you can still be a mom, but it goes to show you not everybody is really ready.

And even with me being the only, like, living parent and I arrange my life so that my kids are consistently supported, whether it's my parents, my nanny. However I build my life, my life has changed. And I think sometimes people don't understand that responsibility when it comes to kids.

And take it a little bit like, oh, it's not that big of a deal. I'm just keep doing. And I'm be outside and I'm like, what's happening?

Yeah. And it's crazy that you said that because you were just like. Because of course we were talking about the. The dress. Kids didn't even cross my mind because I don't have any. So you saying that you're like, okay. And I'm like, damn, you do have two boys. So it's just like, I even think about how I show up around my nephews.

I have a 23 year old, a 16 year old. Like, they're friends looking at me in a certain type of way. Like, I think that there is something to say for that. There is a level of responsibility that comes with parenthood, and not just on the mother.

It is on both ends. And how you show up shapes the child you have. And when you. When people go to do healing work, you start realizing how you were raised and what has made you the way you are comes from how you were raised.
