Dre Nicole
Your girl, Dre Nicole.
Lex P
And you are tuned in to another episode of Poor Mind, where a drunk.
Dre Nicole
Mind speaks sober thighs.
Lex P
We got a guest today.
Dre Nicole
We got a guest today.
Lex P
Now, y'all are going to love this. I know. We have all been tuned into the Netflix hit Beauty in Black, and we have one of the stars of Beauty in Black, former athletes, a top thespian. We got Julian Horton in the building.
Dre Nicole
Well, thank you for joining us.
Julian Horton
Thanks for having me.
Dre Nicole
I'm excited, too.
Julian Horton
I'm really excited. For sure.
Lex P
You excited?
Julian Horton
I am.
Lex P
I'm weak. So tell us. Give us, like, you know, what's been going on since Beauty and Black has dropped. I know it's been a whirlwind for you.
Julian Horton
Beauty and Black has changed my life.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Number one, numero uno. It's changed my life. The reception to the show has been great. Oh, my gosh, it has been astounding. Outstanding. And I just. I love that everyone's watching it. This is really a show for the culture.
Lex P
It really is.
Dre Nicole
It is.
Julian Horton
I didn't know. I knew it was gonna be big. I really did, but I didn't. I really couldn't just fathom how big it was gonna be. It is kind of crazy. Like, this is a show for the culture. And like I said, the perception has just been amazing. Everyone is watching it. The love I've been getting for playing a character that's kind of bad, it's.
Lex P
Not likable, to be fair.
Julian Horton
Not likable. But it's like, I get a lot of love. It's weird sometimes you find, though.
Lex P
Cause.
Dre Nicole
And to be fair, everybody on the show is bad.
Lex P
It is.
Dre Nicole
Nobody on the show is good. So, you know, there's.
Lex P
It. Yeah.
Julian Horton
Energy is there.
Lex P
I do wanna start from the beginning, though, because, you know, you used to play for the Tennessee Titans.
Julian Horton
Yes.
Lex P
You are an athlete. And I always think it's so amazing when guys, especially athletes, make that transition to something completely different. Because we do hear the stories of athletes kind of just, like, they don't play sports anymore, and then they just kind of get lost, you know, and there's no, you know, plan B. So talk about your transition from being a professional athlete to an actor.
Julian Horton
Yeah. So, like, I've always had it in my head, I gotta do something big.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
God gave me a vision. God gave me a dream. And I just knew that I couldn't let life happen to me. I gotta freaking make what I Want out of life, basically. You know what I'm saying? So at the end of the day, it's like football was great. I loved the sport. It was a amazing time, a grueling time, a learning time. I learned a lot of lessons playing football. Played it for 17 years.
Lex P
Oh, that's so awesome.
Julian Horton
From 7 years old to 24. But I always knew that like I was more of a person that was just good at football. Football didn't make me, it wasn't my identity.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
See, a lot of athletes and a lot of people, they make sports their identity. I'm Julian Horton, period. And at the end of the day, God's given me a lot of talent, a lot of gifts and I have to maximize what God has given me. See, the thing about it is this. God gifts, us life.
Lex P
Yeah, that's true.
Julian Horton
Gifts, us life. We all have life right now. But our gift back to God is what do we do with the gifts that he's given us? So for me it's like it was because people ask me, I wanted to transition to football, to acting. How was was seamless because I knew that I wanted to do acting at a young age. I know I wanted to do music at a young age. I knew I wanted to do sports at a young age. I had three things, three options. There was three. It's kind of like common too because it's like want to act, want to do music, want to do, you know, sports.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
But I said no, those are the three things I'm doing. Those are I'm going to make a lot of money doing one of those three things.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So after had ended, I did music a little bit too. A little bit. But I knew that like acting, it could get me over the top, it can make me a career, it can make me a lot of money because I knew I could do it well. Because I knew I'm a character.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
If I can transition and like formulate this energy that I have that God's given me, I can make a career out of this. And that's what I did. And, and, and it took patience, it took a lot of hard work. But by the grace of God, we here now.
Dre Nicole
Amen, Right?
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
And so with acting, do. Would you say, cuz fun fact, your cousin is Donald fai? That's your first cousin?
Julian Horton
Yes, it is.
Dre Nicole
So would you say that you were inspired by him to really get into acting and take it seriously?
Julian Horton
To be honest with you, because I love all my Poor minds.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
I love it. This is, I'm me I don't care, to be honest with you. It's like. That's a good question. Donald was just. He's always kind of just been like a bragging point for me. But he wasn't the reason why I got into acting, though. I think it was more so. I loved it. I loved this craft. I think I have an appreciation for true talent. True talent. I think today I think there's so many people getting famous and so many people making money doing things that are talentless.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
You know what I'm saying? And I have appreciation for old Hollywood. I have an appreciation for it because it's like our respect that went into old Hollywood, just Hollywood, period. Especially with black actors. I've just seen that number one on the call sheet thing on Apple tv. I respect those guys. Denzel's, the Jamie's, the Wills, the Morgan Freemans, the Laurence Fishburnes. I respect those guys. Like, I really, truly respect those guys because it's like they took a dream, they manifested and they made it happen.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
And it's just like, I've always just wanted to do that. So with Donald, he made it happen. He's been famous since I was born.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Even acting since 1990. Like three, I think.
Lex P
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Lex P
Clueless.
Dre Nicole
I mean, that was out when I was like, three.
Julian Horton
So that was the thing. I was like 10 years like. Yeah. Remember the Titans football, sir. Football. That's my cousin. But it's. The dream's always been in me before that, though. I don't have to see that happen to make me go and want to get that. It's just added on to it even more because me and Donald, we talk, but Donald is, you know, Donald. You know, Donald's Donald, man.
Dre Nicole
He.
Julian Horton
He be doing his thing. He's, you know, he just.
Lex P
Did he help you in any type of way? Because I'm not even a Nepo cousin.
Dre Nicole
Because that's what I was gonna say. Because, you know, in this industry, people always say everybody is related to each other. And you kind of feeding into that a little.
Julian Horton
But the thing about it is, like, I didn't ask Donald for nothing. Yeah, I didn't. I didn't ask. And the thing about it, his mother. Aunt Shirley. Shout out, Aunt Shirley.
Dre Nicole
I don't know if Shirley.
Julian Horton
Hey, casting director and an agent in New York City.
Dre Nicole
Okay?
Lex P
So Aunt Shirley to help you.
Julian Horton
No one to help me. Damn.
Lex P
Ain't.
Julian Horton
Shirley didn't help me. You know, Aunt Shirley told me, and I being. This is exclusive. I ain't gonna lie to you. What she say, aunt Shirley is. Is. Is. Is hard body. She's trill. And I appreciate her for doing this. I asked her. I did it one time. No one even knows this, because I haven't even said this on any podcast. I asked her for help one time once. She said, that's your agent's job.
Dre Nicole
Oh.
Julian Horton
I was like, damn. And that's the family. That's the family I come from, though. And I appreciate that, because that same person that I wanted to get connected with five years later booked me on Beauty and Black.
Lex P
Oh, wow.
Julian Horton
And it was just me, so it was. So it's like, we are. My family is tough love.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Donald Faison, tough love. It's like. And I didn't ask Donald for nothing because. And I still don't ask him for nothing. We watch each other's stories. We talk here and there, but we don't, like, talk about acting at all. And it's crazy. Cause I really do want to do something eventually. But it's also on some stuff. Like, in this family, you got to prove it.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
You got to prove it. This family is a talent. I come from a talented family. A talented family. So it's like, no one wants to. We ain't giving you handouts. You got to prove it. So you know the Waynes, how they found it? But I'm telling you, the Hortons and the Faisons, it's coming. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? It's coming. I'm telling you. Cause it's like, Donald had his whole career, and it's like, people don't even know that I am his cousin.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. Yeah.
Julian Horton
Just told the Lord we spilled some cotton. Yeah. We gave him my first cousin. Like, that's my first cousin.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Those are my people. I love Donald, though.
Lex P
So do you think, like, moving forward, are you gonna be, like, the one that kind of, like, plugs your family in? Are you gonna be, like, the tough love, too?
Julian Horton
I'm a plug him in.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
Yeah. I'm plugging in.
Dre Nicole
That's the goal to make this year, for the next year, right now.
Julian Horton
Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna plug him in for sure. That's just how I am. This is. That's who I am.
Lex P
I'm gonna plug them in for sure. Yeah. I like that, though. Cause I feel like even. Cause everybody has been giving, like, LeBron shit with Bronny and all that stuff. I'm like, that's literally what you're supposed to do. We are just now catching up to that, like with the black family. Cause now we're starting to put people on. I want to make things easy for my future children or my friends, whoever. Like, if you connected to me, girl, you good.
Julian Horton
Cause it's like this, this life is hard.
Lex P
It's hard enough already there.
Julian Horton
No, this life is really hard.
Lex P
For real, like hardest things.
Julian Horton
If I didn't butt Beauty, like what the hell I would have done? I tell people that that's why this, the reception to the show is kind of crazy because people are like screaming for me and oh my gosh, I'm like, bro, before this I was doing Uber and my transmission went out.
Lex P
You was Uber?
Julian Horton
And I was broke. So it's like I have a different appreciation and a different perspective for all of this. Cuz I got. I'm not going to say I hate the word famous celebrity. I got known at 33. So I've learned so much in these years that God's given me. I've learned so many lessons. My wisdom has continuously increased and I know that life is hard.
Lex P
Yes, it is.
Julian Horton
It is hard. It's for men because we got to make it happen.
Lex P
Yeah, right.
Julian Horton
No one's giving a shit. So at the end of the day, it's like, it's just a tough life we live. So that's why if God allowed me to have this blessing, I'm gonna honor the position and pay it forward the best I can to help other people out.
Lex P
Come on now, pay it forward.
Julian Horton
Because this, like I said, like I said, this life is hard. It's tough. No one told us that when we were young.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, I mean, I see both sides. Like, I can understand sometimes why families feel like if, if, if they could help you. Or sometimes they don't really want to sometimes just because. Okay, get it out the mud. It's going to teach you work ethic, it's going to teach you hustle, it's going to teach you ambition. But at the same time, why should they have to go through that if they have somebody who can already help them, who have already did all of the groundwork? So I kind of see both sides. I don't know. I want my kids to be a little spoiled.
Julian Horton
Yeah, me too.
Dre Nicole
They going to be silver spoon fed for sure.
Lex P
Everything facts. So I want to talk about the process, the audition process and then the actual filming because, you know, people love to talk about Tyler Perry and he shoot things in three days and gets it done and out there and y'all be on set for 20 hours. So how was the audition process, was it quick? Was it long, drawn out? Because, like I said, we know that Tyler likes to do stuff quickly and get out. So how was the audition process?
Julian Horton
Man, it was anxiety ridden. I would say that because it's so funny, because Netflix, I've been manifesting it so much. I said I want to only do Netflix because I had a movie I did called National Champions and a movie I did called the Re Education of Molly Singer. They both went to theaters. Bombed. Bombed.
Lex P
Wow. Damn.
Julian Horton
But at the same time, they went to Netflix. And when they went to Netflix, everyone I told to go see the movie was literally sending me messages like, yo, watch your movie, nigga.
Lex P
You killed this. They love a little boomerang.
Julian Horton
Yeah, you killing this shit, nigga. I'm like, nigga, I told you to go see it in theaters. You didn't go see it. So I knew right then, kid mean it. Human beings love convenience.
Lex P
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Julian Horton
Especially after Covid.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
After 2020, people love convenience. Ain't trying to go no way.
Dre Nicole
I want to go to the theaters and movies. Go to TV so quickly now, too.
Julian Horton
Even, like, one of them days, like, sizzling Kiki Palmer's movie.
Dre Nicole
Like, it's already on.
Julian Horton
It's on Netflix.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
BC is number one, though.
Lex P
Yeah. Facts.
Julian Horton
No. 1. It made 51 million in the box.
Lex P
It did amazing in the theaters, but it's.
Julian Horton
I'm still. I'm gonna watch it when I have time because I still want to watch it.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I haven't watched it, but it's like, hit Netflix. Not everyone's watching right now. I'm at number one.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So I knew. Convenience, convenience, convenience. So back to your question. It's like that audition and that the whole thing, the whole project came across my agent's desk, and I saw that it was on Netflix somehow. I was like, holy. Tyler Perry has a Netflix show coming out. Tyler has a Netflix show coming because he did the BET Plus.
Lex P
Yeah. Amazon, everything.
Julian Horton
He ain't hitting no Netflix. He had the Netflix movies with the Mia Culpas and the Jasmine Blues and a couple other things he did. What's the other movie he did?
Lex P
Ashtray. Yeah, exactly.
Julian Horton
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The Wig and the Girl. Yeah, yeah. What's that? The Old lady. What was it called again?
Dre Nicole
Not Remember.
Julian Horton
A Fall from Grace. My dog from. I think he was in Glory Road. Yeah, yeah. Dude from Glory Road.
Lex P
He was in the game.
Julian Horton
He was. Yeah, yeah. So he's a good actor. Great actor. But it's like. So he's had those movies But a Netflix original.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So I came across and I saw Roy. It's like he's a. He's doing high 20s, young 30s, black playboy. He. He has a drug addiction. He likes to fast life. And I'm like, kind of sound like me.
Lex P
Nigga, I know that, man. I know him.
Julian Horton
That kind of sound like me.
Dre Nicole
This guy sound familiar?
Julian Horton
So I'm like, I ain't gonna lie to you. I love. I love having this conversation because, you know, I like getting into the depths of it. When you see something like that, it's crazy because it's like, that does sound like me. And I got an audition for it right now. And I'm like, I would kill this shit. I would kill this shit. But then, you know, as an actor, it's like, yeah, is it really gonna happen though, right? Are you really gonna book it? Cause in my mind, I'm like, yo, you gonna have to go against the best of the best. And I love that. I love competition. I'm a competitor. But at the same time, acting teaches you it's a subjective sport. This world we live in as actors, it's subjective, it's not objective. Like LeBron James, 6, 9, 2, 60, he can dunk on. Yeah, you're gonna get picked first, right? Seth Curry. Don't matter what you do, you're the best shooter of all time. You're gonna get picked. Yeah, action's different because you can be the best actor of all time and then somebody blame. But, you know, he looked darker though. Yeah, I like his swag a little bit more.
Lex P
And people deliver lines so different, differently.
Dre Nicole
They do.
Julian Horton
So your mind is. Yeah, man, hopefully I get at this. So basically back to your question. Like, I auditioned for it immediately. Three days later, Kim Coleman. Shout out. Kim Coleman. She's the best. She had. She loved. She loved my audition. And she was like, yo, I want Julian to come to LA to do the in person auditions, so.
Lex P
Oh, that's right.
Julian Horton
That happened on Thursday. I want you to stay with me right here. I want you to stay with me. That happened on a Thursday. They want. They want me to come to LA next Thursday. Next Thursday. So they got. Got the message from my agent, like, kim Coleman loves me. They want you to fly out next Thursday. It's Wednesday. Next Wednesday. Now, six days have passed and I ain't got no flight information, nothing. So I text my agent like, yo, bro, what's going on? Like, I'm supposed to be going to LA tomorrow. What's going on? I ain't got no flight Information. I'm like, yeah. Sorry to tell you this, Julian, but they went a different direction.
Lex P
For real.
Dre Nicole
Wow.
Julian Horton
All right, that's cool, bro. I didn't give him blue balls, but I said. I said, okay. And that's, that's, that's, that's okay. And as an actor, I've been doing this for almost 10 years now. I'm like, yeah, you know, that's, that's a part of the business. Like, you know, you're not gonna get every part, and you know that it's very fickle. This game is very fickle. Boom, boom, boom. They make decisions at a fly. Whatever, whatever. I bet next. Next project, man. Anything about longer. Thanks. I even, like, I wasn't even sad over. For real?
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So a week goes by, the next Wednesday. I'm literally in my basement. I know this shit for a fact. This is. Get emotional talking about this shit. My agent hits me and sends me a picture of what Kim Coleman sent him and said, is Julian still available? So I'm like, bro, what's going on? I thought I didn't get the part and it was like, nah, bro. They said, asking if you're still available or not. So I'm like, what's going on? What's going on?
Dre Nicole

Dre Nicole
Two queens, one globe. Endless possibilities. Travel queens. Series premiere Wednesday, April 23rd at 8 on My Hope. Yeah, I am kinda mad.
Julian Horton
Cause like, niggas playing my emotions. This is a huge part.
Dre Nicole
Did I book it or not?
Julian Horton
Exactly. This is a huge ass part. So I'm like, did I get it? Like, bro, what are you talking about? I left this shit. I left it alone because I said I killed the audition. I left it alone. Like, bro, it is what it is. Next one. And now you're telling me I have a chance again. He's like, bro, are you available or not? Done. Say it now. So. So he says, I'm available, whatever. And then like another two days go by and my agent's like, so I just got off the phone with Kim Coleman and they're going to make the decision in the next two days. All right, okay, cool. Bet. So day one goes by nothing. Day two goes by nothing. Day three goes by nothing. All right. I didn't get it again. These niggas fuck one, right?
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
That's cool. I'm leaving it alone. A week goes by, again nothing. So I remember this specifically. I remember my manager at the time, he called me and was like, yo, bro, like, you gonna do this? I had the other audition for Netflix. It was like Emily in Paris or something like that. He's like, you gonna do this audition? I was like, yeah, but I'm do it, bro. Like, yeah, I got it. And that was in the morning. Call me at 10 in the morning. I'm chilling with my fam stuff. At like 7:00 at night, he calls me again. I'm thinking he's calling me about the audition again because I haven't done it yet. And I'm. I like, I ignore it because I'm like, bro, I'm gonna get to. I'm gonna get to the audition. I'm gonna do it. But he texts me. He's like, bro, call me asap. So I'm like, all right, man, I'll call him. I'm like, what's up, bro? He's like, bro, I have Rod on the phone, who's my agent. So Rod and Tina are my agents. James is my manager at the time. Me and him, we're not together no more, but he's still my brother. But we're not together no more. But he calls me. We're Rod and Rod on the phone. He's like, bro, I didn't want to, like, startle you or anything. I didn't want to, like, get your hopes up or anything, but. So basically, I'm on the phone with Netflix lawyers right now. So I'm like, what are you talking about? Because I'm thinking I didn't get right, right? He's like, so I didn't want to, like, they're moving really kind of slow right now. I know we said we're gonna get the part in the next two days, but it didn't happen like that. They're taking more time than usual. I'm on the phone with Netflix lawyers and basically doing, like, a background check on you to see if you can be Roy. So I'm like, oh, once they do.
Lex P
That background check, you in it.
Dre Nicole
I know about the background checks we do.
Julian Horton
Exactly. I know. This is a long story, too. I'm sorry.
Dre Nicole
Let's start celebrating.
Julian Horton
I'm a little lit, too, right now.
Dre Nicole
That's what I was gonna say. That's how we know, girl.
Julian Horton
I feel like I've been talking for two hours. So it's like, I'm so sorry about this. God forgive me, Lord.
Dre Nicole
Jose.
Lex P
That's how we know.
Dre Nicole
You a Xer, though, for real? Cause I feel like I'm watching a.
Julian Horton
Movie, everyone's watching me.
Dre Nicole
I'm like, yeah, you're painting the picture really well. And then you doing the voices and everything.
Julian Horton
I appreciate you. So. So he's like, I'm. I'm on the phone with the Netflix lawyers right now. I didn't want to startle you. I just wanted to handle business and then present the opportunity to you, Julian. So I'm like, what do you mean you're on the phone with Netflix lawyers? And he was like, I'm on the phone with Netflix lawyers. That's all I can tell you. And in the next couple hours, they should be making the decision. So I'm like, what is going.
Lex P
The background check was a giveaway for me because they're not doing a bad time.
Julian Horton
Yeah, that is true. And then my manager at the time, James Trace, he was like, yo, bro, no name. Every time you do background checks, it.
Dre Nicole
Means usually got that thing, time to call your lawyer.
Julian Horton
I'm not trying to get your hopes up, but you usually got it. So I'm like, bro, I'm not getting my host up at all. This whole process has been hell, yeah, right?
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I'm not getting my host up at all. And then I was at the gym, and I was just chilling, and I was listening to music. And then my music cut off. Someone's calling me. I said, it better not be my mom. Better not be my father. You better be my agent. Agent. So I'm like. I'm shaking a little bit. I'm like, oh, I think this is the call. And then all my agents on the phone. Ron, Tina and James. My manager, my agents. Julian, you're there. I'm like, you called me. I answered. Yeah, I'm here, I'm here. We just wanted to tell you you got the part, period.
Lex P
Did you cry? What'd you do?
Dre Nicole
What was that so exciting.
Julian Horton
I. I praise God.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I can almost cry thinking about it right now. I praise God and just, like, walked. Because I go to win. No, no, I'm not telling. The gym. I go to. I go to the gym.
Lex P
Hey, man.
Julian Horton
Get tired. Exactly. I go to this gym. I just walk around because they have a track there. And I just. I prayed for like an hour.
Lex P
Yeah, yeah.
Julian Horton
Talking like, we did it, we did it, we did it. Cause I knew this show. I was like, this is the game changer.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I've been acting for nine years, and it's crazy. Cause I played football. It's so weird. And it's like I had this whole journey. So if you really thought. Like, really think about it. I've been on this journey for 26 years.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
I'm like, finally, yeah. Netflix series. Series regular.
Lex P
And Tyler Perry.
Julian Horton
Tyler Perry.
Lex P
Cause once you in that Tyler Perry verse, you paid. Cause he's gonna use you over and over.
Julian Horton
He overpays, too. Because he wants to take care of people. And that's why I got so much respect for that man. And people talk a lot of shit. Hear that. They say this and whatever, whatever. But it's like, he take care of his people.
Lex P
Yeah, yeah.
Julian Horton
And he makes sure. He just makes sure you straight. Because me and tp, we don't have, like, a cool. I know.
Dre Nicole
Me and tp.
Julian Horton
But, like, we like. Because some of the actors, they talk to him more and have his number and talk and text. Me and TP don't even talk like that.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
But when I come on that set, he knows I'm about the business.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
He knows that. He even says, like, julian, you walking down, you be walking around intimidating and stuff. I'm like, I don't mean to be intimidating, but it's like. I think it's the athlete to me. It's like when I come on that set I'm here to do a job and be the best. I'm not here to just, like, act. And I say that a lot on a lot of podcasts. Like, I want to be the best. Like, I love this craft. I love this craft so much because it's therapeutic, it's meditative, and it's a. You get to be a different version of yourself while still being yourself.
Lex P
Right, right.
Julian Horton
And it's just amazing. Like these cameras and you get to paint a story and it allows you to be present for real. It really does. Like, that's what I'm doing. And you're Athens Fake make believe. No, it's not. Like, when I'm in the scene, you can't tell me I'm not Roy.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I really be feeling like I got to get out of it. Like, oh. And it didn't take me a lot to get out of it, but it's like, when I'm in it, I'm present. I can teach you to be present like crazy. And it's amazing.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. I don't know. I feel like that's what good actors do, though.
Lex P
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
I feel like you're supposed to make people feel like they should be able to differentiate from the real person and the role that they're playing. And yeah, you be doing your thing on the show. Because I be like, this is something else. I appreciate crazy, but the whole show is just crazy. It's such a good show. Like, I have been glued in since episode one. Like when I found out the sequel to season one was coming out. Cuz that was the whole season.
Julian Horton
Right.
Dre Nicole
But yeah, when I found out the second part of season one was coming out, I was like, oh, yeah. And I love that all of the episodes come out at once because I hate when episodes come out weekly because I be on the edge of my seat, wait until the next week. So I love that everything drops at once and you could just binge watch it.
Julian Horton
No fact, Netflix does a great job with that because, like, even with, like, paradise, that's a great show.
Lex P
Oh, my God.
Dre Nicole
That was on Hulu Love Paradise.
Julian Horton
That show.
Lex P
So good.
Julian Horton
That show right there.
Lex P
Oh my goodness.
Julian Horton
Oh my.
Lex P
I couldn't stop.
Julian Horton
Gosh. Oh, my. I mean, Sterling K. Brown.
Lex P
Oh, he is phenomenal.
Julian Horton
He is.
Dre Nicole
He's great.
Lex P
One thing I love about, like, actors now especially, I feel like they don't. We see actors get typecast all the time. And I feel like with somebody like him, like, he has played so many different types of roles.
Julian Horton
He does.
Lex P
Like, it's so Good.
Julian Horton
He is so good he. That show. Cause I think the great thing about Netflix is, like, it's the number one streaming service right now.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
So anything that goes to Netflix, people gonna watch it.
Lex P
Yeah. Facts.
Julian Horton
There's a lot of great shows on other networks. Apple tv.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Amazon Prime.
Lex P
Yep.
Julian Horton
Hulu. And there's always a couple shows that get out of that, like, box and be worldwide with it. And I think paradise is one of those shows.
Dre Nicole
Oh, for sure.
Julian Horton
Because I kept seeing people talk about Paradise. Paradise, man. Let me just see what this is about. James Marsden. And I love talking about acting. I'm sorry. James Marsden, he's so good. Is so, like, charismatic. He's just. Man, he's just.
Lex P
It's hard not to like. Yeah.
Julian Horton
He really. James Marsden is like. I like. And think about it. I really appreciate this conversation, by the way, because I know this is, like. This is like, some nerdy. Because I love talking.
Dre Nicole
We love nerdy.
Lex P
We're like movie heads.
Julian Horton
He was cyclops, and I was, like, 10 years old.
Lex P
Right. Oh, my God.
Julian Horton
Watching him in cyclops.
Lex P
Come on, now. X Men. You in your deep in your bag. Don't get me started by my Marvel.
Julian Horton
Exactly. So he's cyclops, and this is back then. Yeah. When? This is when we first seen Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the bar. That's like the first X Men shit we've seen. And to see James Mars, I always liked him. I was like, he just. And he was in the Notebook and shit like that. But he's always had this charismatic, matic approach to his roles, and I like people like that. He's just likable.
Lex P
Yeah, he's very likable.
Julian Horton
And then you put Sterling K. Brown with him and paradise, and it filtered in to the whole world. Everyone's watching it, but you have to wait every week for it, though.
Dre Nicole
I know. That was the invincible part.
Julian Horton
I called on it late, and I saw, like, seven episodes in.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So I got it on late, so I got to see it back to back to back.
Lex P
That's how I was with Game of Thrones. I started watching on, like, season four or five, so I was able to binge watch, and it was easy. But I'm glad you brought that up, because I feel like in movies and shows, people always talk about the chemistry between, like, a married couple or, like, you know, boyfriend and girlfriend. Just like, you know, you're married and how y'all in public are like, oh. And then behind closed doors, y'all hate each other. But a lot of times people don't talk about the importance of, like, chemistry that you have to have. Like, between your character and your brother. Like, it really looks like y'all are siblings for real. So a lot of times people don't talk about how important it is to have chemistry with your same sex coworkers that are just like, oh, this is my friend, or this is my brother. This is my mother. So can you talk about like, that a little bit? Like, how you have to work on that?
Julian Horton
Like that, that is. Can I drink this real quick?
Lex P
Oh, come on. Speaking top. Pop me another shot too. You know, I love a little movie talk now. I be watching movies all day. I'm a movie head. I'm a movie girl.
Julian Horton
Let me tell you something. Like, first and foremost, I love my. My castmates, my co stars. I love them internally. What you said is so important for the success of the show. That is. I actually, I gotta. Yeah, I gotta. Y'all are amazing. I gotta keep saying that.
Dre Nicole
Thank you. Oh, my God, thank you. We appreciate it.
Julian Horton
2:00 in the afternoon, I get to do this. My life is amazing.
Lex P
It's different from Uber.
Julian Horton
I did way different. This is incredible. Yeah, I have. I have to talk on it.
Dre Nicole
Got you a little drink.
Julian Horton
Exactly. 3:00 in the afternoon on Wednesday. It's great. But that is such a great topic and great, like, speaking point because, like, people don't know about that. People watch shows. This show is great. It's amazing. They don't really know what goes into it.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
Me and Steven, first time I met him, who plays Charles? Energy.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Comes to the set with his boombox and like, comes. I'm like, this right here is different. Okay. I'm energy too, but I'm like, different, though. I'm not the boombox guy. He's like, what's poppin? That's. He always. What's poppin? He. You know, and he's just playing poignant in the way he is. I'm like, this guy is funny.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And from the get, I was like, you know, we're brothers in the show. Yeah, nigga, I know. Yeah. And we just off rip. Yeah, off rip. And we were cool from day one. And that really helped our energy on screen. It really helped it. Crystal Stewart, she.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, I could cry about her.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
That dog. Crystal Stewart. I have, like a special. I can almost get emotional talking about her. I know that sounds crazy, but it's like she is one of the most special people I ever met in my life.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
She is the goat.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Crystal Stewart is the goat. Like, because it's crazy because I filmed on a Saturday, my first scene, and they had already been filming the whole week, you know, because, you know, acting is different. Everyone's scheduling and everything. Locations are different. I filmed on a Saturday and I filmed my first scene. I did it. And then we had to, like, go to this other location that was like two hours away to film this scene, which we didn't even film. So we, like, drove in Maine, but it wasn't in Maine because me and Crystal, we knew that we were playing husband and wife. We haven't really got to talk that much yet. We knew we were playing husband and wife. But that two hour ride, we just got to know each other.
Lex P
That's a bond. Yeah.
Julian Horton
And we talked about everything. And I mean everything. And it was like she was like, oh, my gosh. Like, I didn't know you were like this. Because when people see me, they probably think I'm gonna act differently than I really am.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
It was like, anybody big and he buy a jack or some shit.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I'm really a goofball.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And I don't take life serious at all. Because the only thing you gotta take serious in life is doing good for God. Your career, your family. And that's really it. Everything else is a bonus.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Have fun. We all leave this earth one day to have fun. So that's how I live my life. And she was like, I didn't know. You were like, this is crazy. And we bonded for those two hours, and next, you know, we were like, we're like this.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And ever since then, we've been like this. So, like, that is pivotal and crucial for the success of the show.
Lex P
I like her because you look at her and she gives like, stone cold bitch.
Julian Horton
She does.
Lex P
But when you see her interviews, she's so nice. She is, like, the sweetest.
Julian Horton
She's so sweet.
Lex P
She is the sweetest person ever. I'm like, how is this the same. Same person? Because I cannot stand her ass.
Dre Nicole
No, she literally. That's what I said. That's when you know, people are really, really good at their craft.
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
Good at their job. Because they will make you hate the character to the point that in real life, you'll be like, I can't stand this person. Because you'll be thinking it's the same person. Speaking of your. Speaking of your other co stars, you're working with the legendary Debbie Morgan. How is that mother? Because she has been.
Lex P
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
Your mom on the show.
Julian Horton
She so. Yes, Debbie Morgan.
Dre Nicole
Yes.
Julian Horton
Ms. Debbie. Doc. I can get emotional talking about these people because it's like such a life changing thing that's happened in my life. So it's so funny because you have, I think, the young actors, and it's like two groups. Young actors. Me, Charles, AKA Stephen Northfleet. Amber. Rain Smith who plays Rain. Taylor Polidor who plays Kimmy. Chris Latour who plays Mallory. And then you got the old actor, Rico Ross, who plays Horus.
Dre Nicole
Right.
Julian Horton
Malik Whitfield, who plays Jules. David Morgan plays my mom, Rachel Lawson.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So it's like he's like two different groups. Debbie Morgan. And it's crazy because she was on that one show. Who knows the show? Who knows the show? Who knows the show out there? What show did you play on again?
Lex P
Look, look. Let me look.
Julian Horton
To put on the show, it's like, oh, my mom used to watch.
Dre Nicole
Well, I know she was in love in basketball.
Julian Horton
All My Children. Boom, boom, boom. All My Children. So my mom's like, oh, my God, you get the birthday morgue. I loved All My Children and then loving basketball. Playing the mother who was like, you know, working. Exactly. So seeing her doing all these things and then she gets to be my mom. Priceless.
Lex P
And I like seeing her. Cause I said Tyler Perry had her cutting up.
Dre Nicole
No, she said that, though, online. She had ended up saying, like, she been having the time of her life playing because it's so different.
Lex P
Zip up.
Julian Horton
She has, she has. And she. And Miss Debbie is so sweet. She's so kind. You know what I like to do? I like hanging out with the old heads. I don't even try to call them old heads, but, like, Richard Lawson is funny. Mr. Lawson. With me.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Because I always love hanging out with the old heads.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
They invite me to dinner. The rest of the cast won't go. I'll go. Yeah, I need to hear it.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
The stories.
Lex P
Yeah, they got some stories.
Julian Horton
The energy, the essence of these people I need to be around. Because at the end of the day, it's like, bro, I look at Malik Whitfield, man, man, man, man. I can go here and cry and get emotional. My father, who's crazy, wouldn't make me and my brother, as seven years old, perform all the Temptation songs. Beauty's only skin deep yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, my. You can go, just not. It's so many songs, these temptations. So my dad would make me perform this when I was 6 and 7. Nervous, as in front of people randomly before. The Temptations. Do it now.
Dre Nicole
That sound like you used to like It.
Julian Horton
I liked it.
Lex P
You ain't got to ask me to watch it.
Julian Horton
I see that now. I love that.
Lex P
Love it.
Julian Horton
But I think my dad just gave me anxiety because he's so the. But, yeah, yeah. Anyway, but the thing, but the thing about it, it's like he would make me perform these songs and like, Otis was huge in the Temptations. So Malik Whitfield, he's been acting for so long. So when I saw he was a part of the cast, I'm like, otis, this is crazy. And to see now they coming to see him now and to see now our relationship because we, we were cool from day one. I told him, I was like, I said, woodfield, I just want to tell you, man, I revere you, bro. I revere you. I gotta give you your flowers. You're one of the greatest actors I've ever seen. I respect you so much. Temptations is one of my favorite movies and he loved that. And we're super cool.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I think everybody, I think me and like, he's like, he's like my uncle almost now.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Older brother type shit, you know what I'm saying? Like, we're super cool and I love him and he's so great. And so to work with Debbie Morgan and to work with Malik Whitfield and Richard Lawson and to be around these people that have been in the industry for so long, I get emotional thinking about it because it's like, it's greatness.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
They've had to endure so many things. They've seen the 70s and the 80s and the 60s when things weren't like really as open and as dope as it is now, you know what I'm saying? They had to fight. And with Tyler, what he's doing for black artists and black actors and actresses is priceless.
Lex P
I will always love Tyler Perry because people always like to say, oh my gosh, this plot is so far fetched, it's so this, it's so dramatic. At the end of the day, he is doing something that Hollywood just wasn't doing and it's giving black actors jobs. I'm sorry. To be mad at somebody that is keeping black people employed is crazy.
Dre Nicole
And like he said, overpaying them at that. Because I saw article too where he was saying how he paid Cecily Tyson for an hour of work, $1 million just because of all of the injustice that she endured throughout her career and not being paid properly. I think that's an amazing thing.
Lex P
Even when Duvel had came on here, he was saying how he has Made more money working with Tyler Perry than he ever made in the league. Like he ever made. You know what I'm saying?
Julian Horton
It's so funny you say that, because I was always wondering, I said, why? Because me, my dream is like, I want to be, like, Will Smith, movie star.
Lex P
Yeah. Yeah.
Julian Horton
I want to be the biggest actor in the world, which I still do. And that's my dream. And I was always wondering, I said, why do people just, like, stay at the Tyler Perry land, though? They don't want to venture out to other things.
Dre Nicole
Now you see.
Julian Horton
Now I see.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Oh, keeps employed. It gets paid.
Lex P
Yep.
Julian Horton
And on front of your tv. And it's really hard out here. This acting is hard.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I'm not gonna lie to you. Even, like, while I'm doing Beauty and Black, auditions haven't been coming in like that.
Lex P
Really?
Julian Horton
They have. Like, they. They come because this is the thing. Once you do a show like this, it gets tougher because now all the things you're doing is, like, everything has to be top notch.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Can't go down.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Gotta stay here. Now that opportunities are few in between because all the greats and all the great actors are going for one part.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
So it makes it harder. So I understand now why people stay with tp. Cause it's like, yo, TB gonna keep me employed.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
He gonna keep me paid. I ain't got work six months out of the year. And it's more. It's more like you get this much amount of money, get so much money, and then it's like, all right, go, enjoy. Here.
Lex P
Do you know any other actors that audition for Roy? Anybody that we would know?
Julian Horton
No, no. I saw one dude's Instagram one time that was pretty funny. But anyways. Yeah.
Lex P
Ha ha. That's what you wanted to say.
Julian Horton
No, no, no, no. It wasn't like that. It was just like. It was such a different.
Lex P
A different vibe.
Julian Horton
It was so different. It different. But shout out to him, though.
Lex P
Hey, man.
Dre Nicole
Shout out to him.
Lex P
Well, before we get into the topics, Ty, what are we drinking today?
Dre Nicole
Well, since we're talking about TP, Mr.
Lex P
Julian Horton over here, we're going to call this one Beauty and Black.
Dre Nicole
All right, make sure y'all tune in on Netflix. This one, you're going to have any spirit of choice in there. We have some muddled blackberries and some muddled basil. We added some lemon juice and a little bit of Uzu and pineapple syrup. And then we topped it off with a little bit of lime sparkling water, and we garnished it with a beautiful basil. So still fresh, herbal. Very spring forward and very beauty and black.
Lex P
This is real juicy.
Dre Nicole
It's real juicy.
Lex P
It's good.
Dre Nicole
Like I said, it's a little tangy. It's a little tart.
Lex P
Yes.
Dre Nicole
It's a baby.
Lex P
I love this.
Julian Horton
Y'all are so beautiful, bro. Thank you. I can't. I can't get to shove my head.
Lex P
Julia, are you having a good time today? Beauty and black.
Dre Nicole
For real.
Julian Horton
I'm a vulnerable guy. I'm a very emotional guy.
Lex P
You are. You almost said you're gonna cry like six.
Julian Horton
Because I'm not. I'm not a. I'm not. I'm not a super. My kismo. What's that word? My chismo. I'm not that type of. I don't give a. Yeah, I'm very in tune with my emotions.
Dre Nicole
What's your sign?
Julian Horton
Sagittarius. Oh, girl. Exactly, exactly.
Dre Nicole
I was thinking.
Julian Horton
Leo. What are you?
Dre Nicole
I'm a Taurus.
Julian Horton
Earthside. May something.
Dre Nicole
No, April.
Julian Horton
April.
Dre Nicole
Actually, this.
Julian Horton
April 28th.
Dre Nicole
Close.
Julian Horton
26Th.
Dre Nicole
Close.
Julian Horton
29Th.
Dre Nicole
You. You going the wrong way.
Julian Horton
April 24th.
Dre Nicole
Close.
Julian Horton
23Rd. 22nd.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So you want to go.
Dre Nicole
But the funny thing is people say that all the time. Like in our comments and stuff. They'd be like, you kind of give Aries vibes. Yeah, Aries. I'm Aries. Taurus. Cusp. Yeah. I'm like, right there. I am. You a cuffy? I love being a Cusp.
Julian Horton
And When's your birthday?
Lex P
August 17th. So she a real Leo. To the death of me. There ain't no Cusp or nothing.
Julian Horton
It's shit. I'm. December 12th.
Lex P
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
December 12th.
Julian Horton
12J. 12.
Dre Nicole
I'm like, that's a good birthday. Cause then in 2000, in 2012, your birthday was 1212. 12.
Lex P
Oh, exactly.
Julian Horton
You know what?
Dre Nicole
That's cool.
Julian Horton
You know what happened on 12? 12, 12.
Dre Nicole
What happened?
Julian Horton
I turned 21.
Lex P
For real.
Dre Nicole
So that is crazy.
Julian Horton
God didn't make mistakes.
Dre Nicole
Amen.
Lex P
I'm here by the grace of God. You was turned up. I know you J.
Julian Horton
12 J. Missed birthday bash. We threw one crazy ass party. It's still. It's top three to this day.
Dre Nicole
No, that's so cool. 21 on 12.
Julian Horton
12 12. 21 on 12. 12. 12 was coming from Craigslist. Yeah, it was like a Project X party.
Lex P
Craigslist is nuts.
Julian Horton
Like, yo, bro, I heard. I heard about this party on Craig. I said, bro, you came with four guys. There's no girls with you?
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I said, guess what? Guess what though? I'm not gonna kick you out. I'm not gonna kick you out. Go get more liquor, though. Anything you want, bro. Exactly. And that's what happened. And it's like, so. Yeah, it's not. It's not by coincidence that, you know. Yeah, 1212.
Lex P
You definitely have fire sign energy. And I'm not even a person. I'm like. I'm really not into like astrology stuff. But like, the base level I find interesting. Like, you know, just the base level.
Julian Horton
I'm the same way. Because people like, I don't believe in zodiac shit.
Dre Nicole
Like, well, I do.
Julian Horton
I'm like. I'm like. I'm like, okay, so the horoscope thing, okay, I don't believe that this shit knows your future. I believe God and Yeshua. But like you just said, the foundation and the base level of things, it be kind of.
Dre Nicole
They own the something. It's very accurate because some, some.
Julian Horton
I think some signs, obviously there's like surface level, like, I like peace. Everyone likes peace.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
But when it comes to sages and like freedom and fun and like philosophical and kind of blunt and.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I'm like, every I met kind of is like that though.
Dre Nicole
For sure. My best friend is a Sagittarius and she's like that too.
Julian Horton
Exactly.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. So I do agree. I feel like it's. It's certain things that if everybody is this sign, like, they normally have these things in common. Like, I feel like with Tauruses, people say we're like, really stubborn. I haven't really met a Taurus that's not stubborn.
Julian Horton
I'm telling you, some people, like, it's fake. It's fake. I saw that Kieran. Kieran Culkin was saying that when he was with Coleman Domingo, an actress. And actress is like, is it. She's fake. I'm like, bro, I don't know, bro. It's. It's just.
Lex P
It'd be. Sometimes I'll be like, yeah, you definitely giving this.
Julian Horton
Because the thing about it, I didn't know about this until my ex girlfriend, who I'm not even gonna say her name, but she, she, she, she was like, he's such a sad. He said. I say, what the does that mean? This is like when I was in college, it's just so such a sad. And then I looked up sad, like the foundation of it. And like the characteristics like me, though. Freedom, love, open, honest life with a body.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, yeah.
Julian Horton
Good times. And that does kind of sound like me. A lot of energy. She was a Capricorn and we sucked.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, for sure. I was gonna say. I don't believe that.
Julian Horton
Insane ass juice.
Dre Nicole
Sucked at ass juice sucked.
Julian Horton
Insane.
Lex P
Having a fire sign that was in a long term relationship with a Capricorn as well. Never again.
Julian Horton
Horrible.
Dre Nicole
As a Taurus that has dated a Capricorn.
Julian Horton
Oh, my go.
Lex P
I have watched paint dry that entertain me more. Capricorn.
Julian Horton
Capricorn is so, like, not. Not the.
Dre Nicole
No shade.
Julian Horton
My homeboys are Capricorn. They're cool. But the girl Capricorn. And then they might be cool for another. Not for me, but it's like a.
Lex P
On his deathbed. That's in a coma. Yeah.
Dre Nicole
I don't know. I feel like that's when. When your moon and rising has to, like, count too. Because a Capricorn carry Capricorn.
Julian Horton
She was, she was mad at me because, like, you think you're a free spirit. I'm like, yeah, I'm free.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, I'm free.
Julian Horton
I like to live life. So the thing about it. So my thing was, like, I looked at the worst compatible signs and numero uno on the list. Sagittarius, Capricorn. Yeah, they hate the freedom of a Sagittarius. They. They're, they're pessimistic and realistic. And I'm just like, is anyone Capricorns here? No one's Capricorns. No. Thank God. At the end of the day. So, so, so, so I'm not going in. I'm going crazy. But it's like, it was literally describing the problems we were facing in real time. And that's when I was like, maybe there is some truth to the zodiac, because this is my theory. I always think of it like God made it on some shit. Like, yeah, if you're in this category, you're this way. You're in this category, you're this way. If you're in this bone. If you're born this day, you're this way and. Because, like, God could do it because he's. He's the creator. He's the alpha and omega. Right. He couldn't make everyone, like, personally just different, different, different. But I think he's, like, putting under, like, categories.
Lex P
Like, look, y'all.
Julian Horton
Yeah, you Sagittarius, y'all free. You a Libra, you this way. And Capricorn, you this way. And go find the niggas that mess with you.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And mess with you. For real.
Lex P
Well, you hines mesh well with air signs.
Julian Horton
They do. Yeah. Because you know, you know it's a positive and a negative thing. And it's like. Because, you know, fire and air supposed to match.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. And water and earth.
Julian Horton
And if you think about the elements, it makes sense. So if you think about fire, it's burning. The bush is burning. What is what makes fire spread? Air, wind. It's everywhere now. Oh, fuck. Exactly. Because I need that. I need someone to be like. You can be yourself.
Lex P
Yeah, for sure.
Julian Horton
Earth and water. When Earth right here. What makes earth grow? Water. And what puts out fire? Water. And what does fire burn? Earth. It's.
Lex P
All I'm saying. It's a little truth to it.
Julian Horton
That's all I'm saying.
Dre Nicole
But you know what they say about Sagittarius men? They say that y'all have issues with monogamy.
Lex P
I think that's all men.
Julian Horton
Cameras, cameras, cameras.
Dre Nicole
They say that about Sagittarius men. They love to. They love the freedom of being able to date open.
Lex P
Cuz he was h about freedom about six times.
Dre Nicole
He did say freedom. He said freedom like free at. That's what sparked the thought. I said freedom.
Julian Horton
Oh, my God.
Lex P
We haven't even gotten to.
Dre Nicole
We haven't.
Julian Horton
Okay, I ain't going to lie to you though. One more time. One more time.
Lex P
I'm weak.
Julian Horton
Sagittarius do love they freedom, though.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. My friend is like that too.
Julian Horton
That's why. Keep going with the topic.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. I think across the board with Sagittarius is, though, because like I said, my homegirl is like that too.
Julian Horton
I'm about to cry.
Dre Nicole
He about to cry for the seventh song.
Lex P
I ain't seen a tear yet.
Dre Nicole
I know he need a little more jazz.
Julian Horton
Y'all have a big ass pocket.
Dre Nicole
He need a little more jack. We probably gonna get a tear by the end of the episode. Okay.
Lex P

Dre Nicole

Lex P

And it's gonna be a time, y'all know Poor Ms. Has grown into its own little entity where we gonna have a lot of fun still over here at Poor Chronicles. So make sure y'all tune in September 2nd. It's going down.
Dre Nicole
Start with topic number one. Would you say in a relationship for status or image? I think that this is a really good topic because I don't know if y'all have heard of lavender marriages, but it's a particular couple. I will not say who. They were on a blog, like, a few weeks ago, and people were in the comments. I'm interested that they think that they're in a lavender marriage.
Lex P
Wow. Okay.
Dre Nicole
He's a man and a woman. Obviously, she's a singer, and he is, like, a producer.
Lex P
Okay. But explain to the people what a lavender marriage is.
Dre Nicole
Basically, when two people get married to kind of COVID the COVID one of the people's hidden secrets. Like, the person might be a lesbian, but they feel like it will affect Their image, it'll affect their career if the world knows. So they get in a marriage with, say, one of their homeboys, one of their best friends, to create the facade that they're a happy couple, they have children together, everything. Because it's a good looking. It's about status and image. But in real life, they have whole separate lives. So, like, the woman might have a girlfriend on the side, the guy might have a woman that he's dealing with on the side, but they're just together for the image.
Lex P
So. And there is another side to lavender marriages as well, because sometimes lavender marriages is like an agreement. They still want that family structure.
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Lex P
But, you know, it may be a gay guy and she know, like, and, you know, so lavender marriage, like she said, it's an arrangement. And I think that's interesting, especially for you, like now that, you know, you went from, like you said, you were driving Uber, and now you're literally on everybody's TV screen. And we see this a lot. PR relationships or things like that. So do you feel like now like it would be like, you know, if you popped out with a little sizzle or a Kiki Palmer. Do you feel like that's something that you would do?
Julian Horton
No, I wouldn't do it because I'm too trill of a trill.
Lex P
You've been in Texas.
Julian Horton
Yeah, okay. Trill, real, whatever.
Lex P
And he like Houston, shoot.
Julian Horton
Trill, whatever.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't do that. Yeah, I just. I don't give a. I just don't give a. Yeah, now, you know what really keeps. Never mind. Keep going.
Lex P
Say what you got to say. Go ahead, Larry. Look, we in it now. I'm a little tipsy now, so we finna get.
Dre Nicole
This is a safe space.
Lex P
Cause I'm not gonna. I don't think I get what you're saying. Like, you a little too real. But I feel like sometimes when you got a little press run, it don't gotta be like, we in love or married. But if we can show up to a little red carpet event together, hold hands, take some pictures, get the blogs talking, I would do that.
Julian Horton
No, no, no. I wouldn't knock anyone for doing that because I definitely understand the objective behind it and the principle behind it, because it does work.
Dre Nicole
Especially marriage is a business.
Julian Horton
And the media. Yeah, media makes people famous. For real.
Lex P
Of course.
Julian Horton
Because that's, you know what's crazy? I was like, going to different topics.
Dre Nicole
We like that.
Julian Horton
You know, it's crazy. I might call myself. I hate calling myself a celebrity. Or famous. I don't like saying that.
Lex P
But.
Julian Horton
But this notable that's happened to me, I'm still me. And I do like dumb. And I don't make my bed sometimes. And. And it's like you're so messy.
Lex P
You don't make your bed.
Julian Horton
Exactly. I'm messy sometimes. And I'm. I'm broken and all this. And I think that, like, I don't even know what the I wanted to do with this because that Jack just said you damn.
Lex P
Damn. So you wouldn't be like, our relationship.
Julian Horton
Yeah. So it's like. Like, yeah. I don't think I have to do that.
Lex P
I think you would, though.
Julian Horton
I wouldn't.
Lex P
If somebody presented to you and it made sense, I think you would do it.
Julian Horton
I couldn't do it because, like, why not? I'm too, like. This is the thing about me, and this is why I want to promote realness.
Lex P
Okay?
Julian Horton
I hate celebrity culture. I hate it. I hate this. I really do. I'm not gonna say hate it. I just like it because, like I just said, media and people have elevated certain people to a certain stratosphere and a certain fucking. I can't even think of the word I'm looking for. But anyway. Certain stratosphere.
Lex P
And we're idolizing the wrong things.
Julian Horton
Yeah. Like, my thing is this, and this is the truth. I'm not perfect. I'm a sinner. I make mistakes. But when I say God's the greatest, I mean that. And I'm not perfect. I make mistakes. I tell me God talk, we talk. And I say, I know. I know. I'm doing this right now. I gotta get better. I know I do. But it's like I have this reverence for God and Yeshua that's so high that, like, we're all. We're all just the fucking same. We are. I always say this and fuck it, we're more important minds, right? If a nigga came in here right now with a gun, I know this is so stupid to say, and I'm not trying to be like that. Nick came over and popped it and threw it at us. And we didn't know. And it blew up all of our faces. We all be gone, right? No one's Hancock, no one's Superman.
Lex P
I done watched a few movies, now you don't know what I can do.
Julian Horton
Yo, no one's Superman, no one's Batman, no one's Flash. No one is all these people. So that's why I'm like, I want to promote realness as best as I can.
Lex P
Okay, I like that.
Julian Horton
So it's like, that's why I'm with the people.
Lex P
Right?
Julian Horton
That's why. I meant I'm at Frontier Airlines, 29C in the back near the bathroom.
Lex P
Hold on now.
Julian Horton
I was. It went viral. My nigga Jason Bobbitt shot my N. Jason Bobbitt. I shot tmo. My brothers, Tim Sanders, Jason Bobbitt, Max Tangy, BKO B. David. Who I'm missing. Who I'm missing? Paul Dawson, Davis Fly, Jack King, Jerry Mitchell, Shout out, everybody.
Dre Nicole
I was taking up the last five rounds.
Julian Horton
Yeah, we do. But my thing is like this. I'm in. I am here with the people, and I am here to be real. I don't give a shit about none of this shit. I am just utilizing what God's given me and maximizing it. That's it.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
That's why I get back to God. I have to do it because I can live a great life. I have great support around me. So my thing is, like, I just have to do it, but I don't care about the.
Lex P
The image and I don't give a. Yeah. You know.
Julian Horton
You know what makes me. You know what makes me happier than anything?
Dre Nicole
What?
Julian Horton
You're a great actor.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
You're a great football player. You're a great beat maker. Damn, J12. He made this beat.
Lex P
Come on, now.
Dre Nicole
That's your prime. What's the name? Okay.
Julian Horton
Damn, Julian, you can really act.
Lex P
I know that's right.
Julian Horton
Damn, nigga, you are a great football player. You score touchdowns. Damn, you can hoop n. You know why I take pride in that? Cause God gave me that right. God gave me that. All this other shit. I still drive the same fucking car.
Lex P
Oh, now that's me to a T. I still. I don't give a fuck what y'all be seeing. My hoopty out there. I don't care.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, that ain't me.
Julian Horton
Thing is like, my. My thing is like I don't care.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I. And. But, you know, reverse psychology is a thing.
Lex P
It is.
Julian Horton
It helps me when more people love me because of that. Because it's like I'm just being myself. I don't care about the chains. I don't care about the jewelry. I don't care about.
Lex P
You care a little bit, cuz. You kind of icy.
Dre Nicole
You do got that ice.
Lex P
That's what I was about to say.
Julian Horton
$200.
Lex P
Okay. Oh, damn. Got my ass.
Dre Nicole
Is that Moonite?
Julian Horton
Yes.
Lex P
Oh, hey, I gotta get. Come on now. Real nigga. I.
Dre Nicole
With the real name.
Lex P
He said more tonight, TikTok.
Julian Horton
Cause I seen that on TikTok. I've wore this for the last six months. I've been taking these chains off. They come in the shower with me, they come to bed with me. They come everywhere.
Lex P
They look nice, though.
Julian Horton
They do.
Dre Nicole
You can't tell.
Lex P
I can't tell.
Julian Horton
That's my fucking point.
Lex P
That's real ice. Can we put the two together? That's real.
Julian Horton
My shit bright, too.
Dre Nicole
It is bright.
Julian Horton
No one gives a fuck.
Lex P
Well, I.
Dre Nicole
Okay, points was made.
Lex P
Let me say this.
Julian Horton
No one cares.
Lex P
I do agree with you on that. I feel like it is time to get back to a little more realness. I think sometimes we have disconnected, that we are still human beings. I don't care if you're an influencer, a singer, a rapper, actor. So how we were talking about the car situation. If you see somebody who is on TV and this and that, and they're just like in a regular car. Cause that's me. Can I get a. I could buy a freaking brand new whatever right now if I wanted to. But I'm like, do I drive all the time? No. Or do I care? But you might see somebody who got it all and they have a nice car. I think there's more important things to judge somebody by, you know what I'm saying? So I'm not saying that it's wrong if you do indulge in the jewelry or the things.
Julian Horton
It's not wrong. It's not wrong.
Lex P
Everybody should indulge in things in their life. But stop. Like, if you see somebody that's in 29C on Frontier, who cares? He getting there. Do you want him to show up for his screen test or not?
Julian Horton
Cause I'm gonna tell you right now, Cameron, who got me, I can fly private, period. I can buy your cybertruck. I can buy a Lambo. I can buy all that shit. I can buy it all. I don't give a fuck. Because at the end of the day it's like, where am I gonna go? Yeah, I dropped my daughter off at school and I fucking go to the gym. I'm gonna buy a $200,000 car. For what? Just impress who I care. So I'm gonna drive my 2015 shit that's paid for, that has a hundred thousand plus miles on it, right? And if you don't, and if you can't fuck with me because of that, then I don't want you anyway.
Lex P
Oh, come on now, that's a word.
Dre Nicole
I think it's just all about preference. Like some people Buy nice things because that's what they like.
Lex P
That's what they like.
Dre Nicole
But then it's like, if you don't care about that, you shouldn't have to feel the pressure from society to have things that you don't care about.
Lex P
Agreed.
Julian Horton
And I don't care.
Dre Nicole
Some people really don't care.
Julian Horton
You know, I really don't care at all. Cause my thing is that this, my energy and aura and my personality, what God's given me is enough.
Lex P
Right. That's what somebody should be dating you for or being friends with you for. Not about the things.
Julian Horton
Because you know. You know. You know, when it's all said and done, I'm gonna release a memoir. But everything else is a bonus.
Lex P
Period.
Julian Horton
Everything else is a bonus.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
There's a couple things that need to get done. I need. Okay. God. When I was four years old, I told myself, you need to believe in God. You need to take care of your family, and you need to maximize what God's given you. I'm 33 years old. I went to NFL. Then it wasn't there long. I went there.
Lex P
How long you was in NFL?
Julian Horton
Like six months.
Lex P
Oh, shit.
Julian Horton
Like a bad relationship, Six months? Not like a bad relationship, six months. I played in the sec. I played against Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, lsu, Georgia, all the teams that I looked at when I was younger, coming up and played on NCAA football. When I was playing, I played against them. I went to their stadiums. I did it. I wanted to be an actor. I did it. Make music. I did it. So it's like, I'm 33 years old and I did it. Everything else is a bonus now. Yeah, everything else is a bonus.
Lex P
You've done a lot in your 30.
Julian Horton
Grace of God. God is the greatest. So it's like. Like that's why I have the mentality. If I didn't have this mentality, I wouldn't do that. I live for other people. Or I cared about tangible things and materialistic things I couldn't get done. I don't give a. And all my friends know that, like Julian favorite quotes. I don't give a. Because I don't.
Lex P
But that.
Dre Nicole
I ain't gonna lie. That'd be my favorite quote, too. Because I'll be giving a.
Julian Horton
Neither industry.
Lex P
You have to be that way, though.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Lex P
Because if you care too much, you're gonna get lost in the sauce and you're gonna get forgot about.
Julian Horton
Exactly.
Lex P
I always say the main people who I see have longevity is people who are unapologetically them themselves.
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Lex P
And they don't.
Dre Nicole
And they don't listen to the outside noise.
Lex P
Cause a lot of times people try to make people feel bad for who they are. Like, oh, my gosh, you need to calm down. Oh, you doing too much. You're so extra. You're so this. But this is who I am.
Julian Horton
That's who I am.
Lex P
And I. I hate when people do that because they be like, oh, you need to calm down. You need to. God gave me this.
Julian Horton
That's it.
Lex P
So who are you to tell me to stop what God gave me?
Julian Horton
That's it.
Lex P
You know what I'm saying?
Julian Horton
That's literally it.
Lex P
Like, you cannot make me feel bad about who I am. I have been created in God's image now.
Julian Horton
That's it. That's it.
Dre Nicole
No, I was just gonna say so. Yeah. Cause we be always. We always.
Lex P
We might need to get into the bed.
Dre Nicole
Yes.
Julian Horton
Yeah, yeah. My bad, my bad.
Lex P
It's okay.
Julian Horton
I know. We're just gonna like. This is a good piece, y'all. Beautiful as.
Dre Nicole
Thank you. This is a good conversation.
Julian Horton
B. A beautiful Jim Carrey. Bruce somebody. Y'all seen that? Okay.
Lex P
I love Bruce. All body. Come on now. Come on. Your movie.
Julian Horton
Beautiful. That's what a good crumble, nigga.
Lex P
So what you want to do? You want to get into the bed draft?
Dre Nicole
Well, no, because I feel like we need to close out the topic. So I was going to say, I personally feel like I could be in a PR relationship.
Julian Horton
Oh, yeah, Shit.
Dre Nicole
I absolutely think I could be in a PR relationship, but I don't know. I don't feel like I would want.
Julian Horton
It to be something fine to do that.
Dre Nicole
Thank you. I. I agree, but. But I feel like I wouldn't want it.
Julian Horton
Holy hell. I need another shot.
Dre Nicole
Okay, I'll take a shot too. We going to see. Hopefully I don't be drunk.
Julian Horton
Black women the best. Black women are the best in the world, though.
Dre Nicole
Thank you.
Julian Horton
Y'all are so beautiful. I just. I just can't. Thank you.
Dre Nicole
I appreciate that.
Lex P
Thank you.
Julian Horton
Keep that in there.
Dre Nicole
That's very sweet.
Julian Horton
Take that other. That Tourette should have just did out.
Dre Nicole
It's okay.
Julian Horton
What the are we doing?
Lex P
It's okay.
Dre Nicole
It's okay.
Julian Horton
Exactly. I'm weird.
Dre Nicole
It's okay.
Lex P
We a little weird.
Dre Nicole
I think everybody is a little weird.
Julian Horton
Shay. Shout out to Shay and this motherfucker.
Dre Nicole
Shout out to Shay. Shay.
Lex P
So we wrapping it up, you guys?
Dre Nicole
So, yes, we just go wrap it up. So. Yeah. I personally feel like I could be in a relationship like that, but I wouldn't want it to be long term, though. Like, I don't think it would be to serve a purpose. Like, to serve a purpose. And then once the purpose is served, I'm out. Because I don't know. I feel like at heart, I am a hopeless romantic and I'm a lover girl. So I want to be in a relationship with somebody that I genuinely really love. Having status and for luxury and lifestyle and clout, that's just not enough for me.
Lex P
I Don't get me started.
Dre Nicole
I feel like I can get my love.
Lex P
I'm a love girl to the core. I don't care how many times my heart gets broken. I'm gonna fall in love again.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Lex P
And again and again. Cause it's fun. It's beautiful. So I do feel like I would do it, but it has to strictly be a job. But the reason I probably. I say I could do a PR relationship, but I probably couldn't. Cause I'm gonna end up really liking you and falling in love for real.
Dre Nicole
And that's how it be.
Julian Horton
That's definitely gonna happen.
Lex P
Yeah. Like, if you can really fall in. I think I say this all the time, being, like, I watch people that are actors. Like, I'm not an actor, obviously, but, like, you see stuff like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, how they were on set and they fell in love. Damon Wayne just went on Club Shay Shay. He was talking about how he would struggle because he was on set, and he's thinking, this chemistry is real. And then she go off and do a movie. She got the same chemistry with the next dude.
Julian Horton
I literally just saw that today.
Lex P
Yes. So it's like, me. That's gonna be me. I can't tell the difference. I thought you loved me. Ho ass nigga.
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
You would fall in love. I'm gonna fall in love. And I would be like, all right, three months up, it's been real.
Lex P
I'm out.
Julian Horton
You couldn't do a PR relationship with me, though. Yeah, Y'all couldn't dip. Why y'all gonna fall in love. Love.
Dre Nicole
I don't know. I know how Sagittarius mean. You down?
Julian Horton
Because I'm a real, and I believe it. And it's like, I don't. Like, you're gonna have fun. Fun, fun, fun.
Dre Nicole
That is how dudes be getting me. I'm all about fun.
Julian Horton
It's gonna be. It's gonna be hilarious. You're gonna love my friends, you know? Oh, my gosh. I like being a part of this. And at the end of the day, oh, My God. Exactly. And you're gonna have fun and it's gonna be so great.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
About God more. Meditate some more. Do the. That everyone does the tangible. We're learning about real, deep, personable human. And that's when you get. That's when you really get people, though. Because being yourself. And you're gonna laugh.
Lex P
Yeah. That's why I think if you can make me laugh, that's it. Because I don't think nobody funny. I realize my weakness is a man that makes me laugh.
Julian Horton
Keep going.
Lex P
I'm not even gonna say no more.
Julian Horton
Stop.
Lex P

Lex P
First of all, that I cheated one time in college, but he cheated first. He Forced my hand. I was forced.
Dre Nicole
You cheated on that man.
Lex P
I did cheat on that man when I moved to Atlanta. He forced my hand, too. He forced my hand, too.
Dre Nicole
He did not force your hand.
Lex P
He was.
Dre Nicole
He didn't put them in Deacon Yokushi.
Lex P
He did. He forced me to. He was just not treating me right.
Dre Nicole
No, he wasn't treating you right. But see, that's where I feel like that's when you should just leave.
Lex P
I didn't want to.
Dre Nicole
Over cheating.
Lex P
I didn't want to. I wasn't ready to go. I had to make sure.
Dre Nicole
You supposed to leave. You shouldn't cheat. You're right. I did cheat one time, though, when I was in.
Lex P
Damn.
Dre Nicole
It was when I was in college, though. For real, though.
Lex P
Okay. I had just graduated college.
Dre Nicole
I was like a freshman in college.
Lex P
Okay. I was.
Dre Nicole
It was with my high school. I cheated on my high school boyfriend.
Lex P
Shame on you.
Dre Nicole
I know.
Lex P
Okay, so I will.
Julian Horton
Okay.
Lex P
Okay, so we don't sign into the vet Thou bow.
Julian Horton
Hey, I got. Hey, I got something for y'all, though. I got something for y'all.
Lex P
What you got?
Julian Horton
Wait, we're gonna get into this.
Lex P
We gonna get into the bed. That's gonna happen.
Julian Horton
I'm like a host, too.
Dre Nicole
Pause.
Lex P
You know what I mean?
Julian Horton
We're gonna get into this. But I got some world exclusive for y'all today.
Dre Nicole
What? What is it?
Julian Horton
It's coming. It's coming.
Lex P
Oh, yeah, he did say he had some announcements to make. So we gonna get. We gonna do the bed, cuz I.
Julian Horton
Got a homeboy named man on the Mission, AKA Tim Sanders. Okay, see, this is the thing. I'm an actor. Football player. Oh, man, he did this. I'm also a music producer, period. And I have an artist I'm working with. We're a duo. And I have an engineer that's actually close to me that's here right now.
Lex P
So I have an engineer, too.
Julian Horton
Is it Tim Awall is my engineer.
Lex P
AWOL.
Julian Horton
AWOL's my engineer. Tim Sanders is the artist. And we got. Got some.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
That's why I take over the world. I'm telling you. I ain't lie to you. By the grace of God. Like we talked about Tyler Perry films fast. So what does that mean? I have a lot of time.
Lex P
I have a lot of time.
Julian Horton
So that means I have a lot of time to do what I want and have money to fund what I want. And so at the end of the day, we come in AWOL has an ear.
Dre Nicole
AWOL does. That's our awol.
Julian Horton
Award is he's a goat.
Lex P
He is. I'll say this, cause this is off topic. But one thing, like I am very, very particular about like the behind the scenes stuff. Like I care about how we look on camera, I care about the coloring, I care about the audio. So I really was like so unhappy with poor minds for years about how things were sounding. Cause I'm like, this sound is awful. I could not get it right for nothing. When I tell you I haven't had nothing wrong with the audio since AWOL been. So we gonna give AWOL his flowers right now. AWOL be AWOL in the building. But also on top of that.
Dre Nicole
Cause before him, our audio set, before.
Lex P
He come in, AWOL's like DJing. He play music. Awall got an ear like me. I can tell the type of music that AWOL listens to. We got the same like ear music.
Julian Horton
He got a good ear. He got it. Nah, nah. N you like me because like, I'm very just I'm particular.
Lex P
Yeah.
Dre Nicole
Phil orienting.
Julian Horton
Yes. Like Tim, the artist I work with, he's here right now. Shout out to Tim Sanders. He's more like, Annie, let's just do it. But I'm more like every frequency, every hertz, every sound, I hear it. Yeah, because you do that when you're a producer. You listen to things, you just don't say, oh, yeah, just go do it. I think a lot of artists do that now. I think it's like, yeah, when everything comes, first thing that comes to my mind doing it. It's like, bro, reason why Drake has had such a long time in this industry. Kendrick, J. Cole, whatever. But really, Drizzy, they're cerebral. Yeah, you gotta be cerebral in this shit. I think a lot of people don't be cerebral. Think I just get it and go. It's like, bro, you gotta take your time with this. And at the end of the day, AWOL does that. And I can tell y'all do that.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And I love that.
Lex P
Oh, we take talk.
Dre Nicole
We're very meticulous when it comes to poor minds, for sure. Because I feel like your product matters, you know, Especially when you get to a point to where you can afford to make it better. Like, I understand when people don't have the greatest audio or the greatest visuals, when you don't have the money to do it. And especially if that's not something that you're talented in and it's not your forte. But when you can afford to make things top notch, you need to invest in yourself. Cuz who else is going to?
Julian Horton
You have to, you know, you have to.
Lex P
So get to the bed. Finally get into the bed.
Dre Nicole
It's time to get in the bed.
Lex P
Do men feel responsible for a woman's sexual confidence? You know, like, have you ever hyped up a woman's performance in bed? Like if it was bad? No, never. No, you ain't what you say, so.
Dre Nicole
You be straight up. Like this shit trash.
Julian Horton
Nah, I don't say it's trash. Have you ever hyped up a woman's performance in bed, even if it was mid? To be honest with you? Wow.
Dre Nicole
He have you thinking about it.
Julian Horton
You think you can talk about it. So it's like, it's more. More so like, I don't think woman's performance in bed can be mid because like, I'm the leader, so it's gonna go how I go. So it's really like. But Head Game can be mid.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
So I know we're getting a little fucking freaky, but it's the bed.
Lex P
It's the bad topic we can get.
Julian Horton
Head Game can be mid. And I never fucking let anyone know that Head Game is mid. I'm really, really, really, really supportive.
Lex P
But that's the problem. Women, you gotta lie. People have too much sexual confidence. But I also feel like I told.
Julian Horton
Em the truth though. I say, I say what, you're doing a great job and, and this is some of the best I've ever gotten in my life.
Lex P
But do you be telling the truth?
Julian Horton
This. This how I do it. This is how you got to tell the truth in a particular way. Okay, you guys say you're doing a great job.
Dre Nicole
Uhhuh.
Julian Horton
I'm talking about this right here is fantastic. It's one of the best ha I've ever got.
Lex P
But in that boy, I was waiting for the butt.
Julian Horton
Promise you this how I do it too, cuz. They, they like, oh, I'm doing a good job. Ooh, he going to add some more to it. Exactly. I do it. I say, but have you ever tried to like, do this and do that and then if you do that, you won't just be great, you'll be the fucking goat. And they're like, you're right. And they do it. I'm like, yes, I got what I wanted.
Lex P
Okay, that's a good way to do it.
Julian Horton
That's how you gotta do it. Niggas be like, get chat. No, you gotta just fucking know how to finagle in there. Cause you know, hedges is the greatest thing ever. I. You can Keep that actually, because I gotta tell people that.
Dre Nicole
He said you could. We was gonna keep it.
Julian Horton
Cause the thing is like. Like head is a signature thing. Sex is like, you know, I feel.
Lex P
Like there's a difference between like having like good and good sex though. Sometimes people have both. Sometimes people have one or the other good pussy.
Julian Horton
Good sex. You mean good pussy, good head. No, good pussy, good sex.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. I feel like you. Cuz you can have good pussy.
Lex P
Have good sex.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. Because your pussy. Because your pussy good because of the anatomy of it because they get wet. That's just all of these things. But the sex is about what you do in bed.
Julian Horton
Yeah, but that's why I told you, like, I'm so glad we're having this topic, cuz this is a real thing. If it's good, if you have good, it's going to be good sex.
Dre Nicole
But it might not be because she might not know how to ride de. She might not know how to.
Lex P
You can have good pussy. Exactly.
Dre Nicole
She might not know how to put that arch.
Lex P
She might be. She might be like this. But that thing feels.
Julian Horton
But I guess, I guess, I guess I control the situation. Cause like, if I'm doing some shit from the back, I'm gonna make sure that shit is arched up in the way it needs to be to make sure it's good.
Lex P
But again, you might be fighting the hoe. Cause she might be you trying to dip her in and she trying to dip that out. Come back, you might even enjoy her. Y'all fighting back and forth.
Julian Horton
She's not gonna do that though. She's not gonna do that. Because I'm gonna say if you do that again, it's over. Ooh, if you do that shit again, it's over.
Lex P
See, she might be like, what though?
Dre Nicole
But I hate our more than me?
Julian Horton
No, you to stop doing that. I don't like that. So you need to conform to what the I'm saying right now. And most of the time, more times than not, they're going to fucking get in line. I'm a man and I'm bigger. And they're going to be like, all right, they going to listen whatever you want. And then if the implicit is good, it's sex going to be good. That's what I mean. But writing is. But writing is another topic. Because writing is. I think writing in head is signature. Meaning that like, damn, the way she wrote my. I ain't never had it like that. When she gave me head. I ain't never had it like that. That's signature but, like, right from the back, or you're doing missionary or you have like, some shit's just a man's thing. Like you're in control. You're doing your. And if it's good pussy, it's gonna be good sex.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
If it's wet, and if it's wetting is good. I mean, a nigga ain't gonna. You know.
Lex P
I think sexual confidence in a woman comes from us feeling sexy.
Julian Horton
Yes.
Lex P
So if we're getting back to the topic, it's like, do men feel responsible for a woman's sexual confidence? I think women need to do what we feel makes us sexy. Cause that's what makes the sex enjoyable.
Julian Horton
That is true.
Lex P
Like, good pussy. Good pussy, cool.
Julian Horton
That's true.
Lex P
But once you feel sexy in the bedroom and a man is complimenting you, you start feeling sexy. So you start performing.
Julian Horton
Nah, that's true.
Lex P
So that's when the sex and the pussy gets good. And it's an overall great experience.
Julian Horton
That actually is facts. Because you know when you're, like, doing it and shit or whatever. Whatever. It's like, you can like something turned up.
Lex P
Yeah, but she's feeling sexy.
Julian Horton
The alchemy and the chemistry between all. It's like, hold up. This shit is like. It's like tennis now, right? Going back and forth and this shit is perfect. No, you're right. I'm just. Man, you're right.
Lex P
Feeling sexy in the bedroom is like a che. Cheat code. So for men and women, I know it's like a lot of disconnect in the bedroom because they feel like, oh, men go nut anyway, and I don't get my nut. As a woman, it is our duty to have confidence within yourself to feel sexy. Because that's going to make the sex way more enjoyable. If you feel like, oh, my gosh, he's into it. Because I'm so fine and I'm the baddest bitch in the world. That's going to make you show out. That's going to make him show out, right?
Julian Horton
You're showing. Gosh. And thought my head now. It's crazy. Of the. Never mind. But keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.
Lex P
Hold on, Julian.
Julian Horton
I know.
Lex P
Slow it down.
Julian Horton
I know, I know. Slow it down now. Slow it down now. Slow it down now. But you're absolutely right.
Dre Nicole
She has a really good point.
Julian Horton
You have a great point. Because that has. I'm thinking about that now. No, you're right, though, because it's like. Like I said, something. Something switches.
Lex P
Yes. It's a. It's sexual confidence.
Julian Horton
Some switches.
Lex P
Oh, you're with a man who you're like, oh, I don't. I don't know if he likes me. I'm just trying to do this so I can get my rent paid. And you're not really doing it because you feel sexy in this moment and you're turned on and you like, I cannot wait to sit on this dick. Like, I need this now. And I know that he's looking at me like I am the last donut left in the Shipley's oven, bitch. Like, it needs to be like, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. But I teach that.
Dre Nicole
You ever had shit?
Lex P
Please. You ever had a ship? Please donut?
Julian Horton
Yeah, okay. You know Randy's donuts. I had Randy's donut Donuts. Fire shout out to the twins, man.
Lex P
So I want to say I don't think that it's men's responsibility for a woman to have that sexual confidence, but I think they can help.
Dre Nicole
I think it can help for sure. But do y'all feel like being honest, like sexual honesty is a turn off or can, like, ruin the mood? Because I feel like sometimes that's probably why people don't like to tell the person that they having sex with, oh, you're not really doing a great job. Because they don't want to ruin the mood and turn them off.
Julian Horton
Like I said, you have. You have to know how to finagle. Like getting off finagle. That's true.
Lex P
You have to know how to finagle. But also, I think that's with emotional immaturity. If a man that I care about, because at this age, I'm not having sex with nobody I don't care about. So if I'm having sex with you, I want you to tell me what you like, cuz I want to do exactly how you want it. What? I pussy on filming now. I gotta turn this nigga out, period. That's how I look at it.
Julian Horton
Y'all lit.
Lex P
She said for me. I feel like I want my man to tell me what I need to do. How can I upgrade this pussy? Fuck. Right, right. Because I'm telling you how you can upgrade that dick for me.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Lex P
So it needs to be a conversation.
Julian Horton
It does. How does a nigga upgrade that dick?
Lex P
A nigga can upgrade that dick for me. Like I said for me, to me, sex is a. It's a buildup.
Julian Horton
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lex P
So I. The sex starts once it's like, okay, I know we finna go on a good date night. You done plan the night out. You done sent me flowers already earlier in the day. You pick me up. It's like the vibes is vibing. We going to a dimly lit restaurant, drinks coming in.
Julian Horton
Are you ready?
Lex P
Yeah. Like the conversation is flowing and you're not even being over overly sexual. Yeah, you just putting your hand on my leg. Damn, baby, you look really good.
Julian Horton
You look so beautiful.
Lex P
It's the subtle. This is throbbing.
Dre Nicole
No, yeah, you be ready. It's definitely all about the build up at the date. It actually start way before then. And while we at dinner. Not right when we get in the bedroom.
Lex P
Yes.
Dre Nicole
Not when we build it up.
Lex P
So men who know how to build up all day, you going to get the best in the world.
Dre Nicole
Hey, and I think that's really a good point what you said too. Because that's good that you can take constructive criticism. But as another woman, I do feel like the. The e. The. The female ego is fragile. So yeah, a lot of women, they get offended when you tell them what they're.
Lex P
They're.
Dre Nicole
They don't want to hear that. Cuz everybody think they coochie good. First and foremost. Foremost. Will you ever run into somebody and they be like, nah, my coochie me, my coochie trash.
Lex P
I say this all the time.
Dre Nicole
You be saying yours.
Lex P
No, no, no. I say this. It's a man out there right now who's watching this is like Lex has the best pussy I've ever had in my life. And there's probably another nigga who like Lex shit so mid. Cause it's the experience. Everybody's experience is different. I could talk about that.
Dre Nicole
But then you don't feel like if you got good coochie, it's universal.
Julian Horton
I mean, you're right about that though.
Dre Nicole
Cause I feel coochie.
Lex P
Now do I think I got trash cooch?
Dre Nicole
No.
Lex P
But I do think I've given better experiences, especially in my younger years in my 30s. No. Because I'm not even having sex with a man that is not already there. But in my 20s. Absolutely. But I say all that to say because it's some men out there who I probably think has the worst dick in the world. And then there's another girl who was like, oh my God, he's fired.
Dre Nicole
He was fired.
Lex P
My world around. So I think it's just about that chemistry. But I also think that shows the difference between somebody who can take constructive criticism. You not finna hurt my feelings. Cause I know my coochie good. And I know what I can do in the bedroom. So if you're giving me criticism, this is just what you like.
Dre Nicole
Yeah, exactly.
Lex P
Because this last nigga didn't like when I did that. But you love it when I do that.
Dre Nicole
Yeah. So it's a preference. Standing ovation is crazy.
Lex P
I'm just saying I'm a little. Y'all know me, I'm a little older, so I can teach the girls a little one, too.
Julian Horton
But I'm also teaching goddamn Martin Luther King.
Dre Nicole
It was a word.
Lex P
I'm telling you.
Julian Horton
So, so, so, so. That was awesome.
Lex P
I mean, I'm telling you, I was just.
Julian Horton
I was just here just watching. She's so honest.
Lex P
I'm being real. I think sex should.
Julian Horton
That's how I am.
Lex P
Sex is meant to be enjoyed. So if we're not honest, how can we not enjoy?
Dre Nicole
Yeah, I'm not laying there for no sex that. I'm not having a good time. I'm sorry. Let's wrap this shit.
Julian Horton
Beautiful.
Dre Nicole
Seriously, though, she's right. And I think that comes.
Lex P
We never get tired of a compliment.
Julian Horton
I'm just being honest. You just. That was fucking. Wow.
Lex P
You know, I'm here for. You know why I say this? Because, though I'm not being funny, in my early 20s, I had a lot of bad. I used to have a lot of bad sex. I did not enjoy sex. I was doing it because I felt like this is what my man wants and it wasn't for me. And I just had, like, a turn.
Julian Horton
And I'm like, the reason why I love this is because you made a great point. So some girls told me, like, his dick don't do this. Whatever, whatever, whatever. And then some girls will tell, like, you just said, joy and sex is the best.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
But it's like it all depends on, like you said, the chemistry. Yeah. Because as guys, you think our dicks are hard 100, not all the time.
Lex P
Right.
Julian Horton
It takes that special girl takes this moment. It takes the alchemy, the chemistry to make some shit be 100% in the morning. Sometimes that shit gonna be 70, and you might get 70%, and then you gonna be just like, yeah, his dick wasn't all that, but chick. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, yeah, you didn't. You didn't do nothing. I was. I did it just to do it. Yeah, it just happened.
Lex P
Yeah.
Julian Horton
Compared to that girl, that's like. She's doing everything right. The chemistry's right. My shit's 100. My shit.
Lex P
You Gotta care about that.
Julian Horton
My veins are bulging.
Lex P
You gotta care about it.
Julian Horton
That shit's about to pop off my body come. Because it's so engorged. It's like this. It's like this. And you're going to get the best now because it's that way.
Lex P
But.
Julian Horton
And I'm glad you talked on that, because some girls in college talk.
Lex P
Yeah, it goes both ways.
Julian Horton
They can't get hard because I put a condom on. Now I'm barely can even do because, like, I don't even feel that. Your shit's dry as now. We're working now.
Lex P
Coming out now.
Julian Horton
Take it out. Take it out.
Dre Nicole
You gotta let it out.
Julian Horton
So.
Lex P
So?
Julian Horton
So it's like, yeah, so. So then you get a girl that's like, everything's perfect. The motherfucking is perfect. The fucking vibe's right. It's meditative. And it's like, now I'm 100%. And now she getting the best shit ever. And now she gonna talk to her friend Julian is that nigga. And you got someone else gonna say, julian sucks. So when you said that, I really appreciate that.
Lex P
But that's what I'm saying.
Julian Horton
But that's what I'm saying.
Lex P
But that's why you have to be okay with that. I am okay with that. Because I know who I am in the bedroom room. Because I have that sexual confidence within myself.
Julian Horton
I know I. I know if I'm. If I'm going National championship mode. Come on.
Lex P
Not the Super Bowl.
Julian Horton
Super bowl mode.
Lex P
Come on, now.
Julian Horton
If I'm going Super bowl mode.
Lex P
Tom Brady.
Julian Horton
Yeah. I'm Jordan. I'm Brady. Ali. If I'm going that mode. Stop playing. Stop playing. But some. You have different modes.
Lex P
You have different modes. But I believe that sexual confidence should not depend on anybod. Confidence in general should come from yourself. I feel like you can learn. Like, I always say this. Like, a lot of times I didn't have confidence in, like, my personality because I used to be like, oh, my gosh, I'm so loud. I'm so this. And Dre was like, bitch, you're funny. Like, people love you. And, like, she used to pour into me. So I say all that to say because even though she would always tell me that, it wasn't until I felt it and I believed it. So I think that comes with any type of confidence, confidence with your looks, your personality, your sexualness, anything, it has to come from within. So I think my sexual confidence came from. I know I'm sexy. I know I'm fine. I know what I can do in the bedroom. And this is.
Julian Horton
I'm being serious. Y'all fine as fuck.
Lex P
Thank you. You good, Julian.
Julian Horton
Shit.
Dre Nicole
He said shit.
Julian Horton
Every girl in here fine as fuck.
Lex P
He been. Look, he been.
Dre Nicole
I cannot. He said y'all are.
Lex P
He's in heaven.
Dre Nicole
We love to create the environment.
Lex P
We having a good time, having a great time. I ain't seen a tear yet. If a tear don't fall before this episode, you be phony. I need a tear.
Dre Nicole
Cause we know you be crying on cue.
Julian Horton
I do be crying, but like, I'm just so, like, y'all don't even understand.
Lex P
He finna cry. He trying to make one come out.
Dre Nicole
Let it go.
Julian Horton
I'm just so appreciative. Tip.
Lex P
What's up y'all? It's your girl xp and it's your.
Dre Nicole

Lex P

Dre Nicole
Now in a black business at that. But, I mean, they can be anybody.
Lex P
We don't discriminate.
Julian Horton
Any business is welcome to be around. Just like we. We all leave earth one day.
Dre Nicole
We do.
Julian Horton
We do. So it's like the fact that I get to live a life that, like, once I do, because it's gonna be that time. And I pray to God, I think I'm gonna live up to 103 years old. I was like, God, I'm living 103. It's like when I'm on my deathbed and I'm old as. And I'm wrinkly and it's over with, I can like, literally just say, like, are you. You. You let it all out.
Dre Nicole
You do.
Julian Horton
You left no stone unturned. So when I have a moment like this with y'all, and y'all are beautiful as, it just adds to that. And that's why I'm just like, I have such a gratuitous spirit. Gratitude. Spirit. And I'm so. And I talk about God a lot. Not because I'm perfect, but I think it's because he gave us the opportunity.
Dre Nicole
To do this right.
Julian Horton
I'm not perfect. I up and. And God knows I do. We have a. I'll be telling God, please have patience on me. I'm working. He does Yeshua. I'm working. He knows my heart, though. And I'm not even trying to be like, he knows my hiring. I'm going to do everything. No, I'm. I'm full of love. My foundation is full of love. My foundation is full of gratitude. But it's like, he gave us his opportunity. He literally did. That's why I talk about he gave us his opportunity. He could. If you think about it, sometimes, God could have kept it his pitch black, black. And, like, there'd be nothing. There's no world. We wouldn't even know. There'd be no consciousness. You know what I'm saying? But instead, he gave us consciousness. He gave us the ability to do things and have opportunities for things. And when I sit with y'all, I just, like. I can't fathom it sometimes. I can't. It could. Is so amazing. Yeah.
Dre Nicole
Thank you.
Julian Horton
On a Wednesday afternoon, I can fucking come here with two beautiful women. Women talk. My talk with y'all. Have my friends around, have n get a little.
Lex P
It's a poor mind's experience.
Dre Nicole
We be having a time.
Julian Horton
It's too much.
Lex P
It's a beautiful bartender.
Julian Horton
But I know God has blessed me because I have this mindset, though, because he's like. He knows for a fact Julian is never gonna get too ahead of himself because he's always gone. He's always going to never forget me. Right. God knows that about.
Lex P
Always have gratitude time where you would.
Dre Nicole
Like, pray for the times you have now.
Julian Horton
I was, I was. I was. I didn't even know, man. Like, I was going to court for a Aderall charge 10 years ago. Every month, 12 hours, I had to drive 12 hours in my mom's pickup truck that barely ran. Having these conversations with God and. And the thing about it, it's like I never one time doubt it.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I never one time didn't think this was possible. I knew this was gonna happen.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I knew it was gonna happen. And, and, and, and, and they just go back to my point. Right? That it is happening. I'm so full of gratitude. I make a beat, I make a song. AWOLs, engineering. My Tim's in the building. And at the end of the day, I got drinks being poured up. This is how life ain't gonna lie. Let me tell you something. Let me tell you some right now. Let me tell you some right now. Camera one, whatever. Camera, get me. I did everything and have done everything I said I was gonna do.
Lex P
That's right, man.
Julian Horton
And a lot of. And, And a lot of can't say that. And that's why I'm so full of gratitude.
Lex P
As you should be.
Julian Horton
I did that. And, and. And I don't talk about it a lot because I give God all the praise and the glory, but it's like for a. To have this dream of 4 years old. See this. I get emotional.
Dre Nicole
I'm waiting on this here.
Julian Horton
Julian, this is crazy.
Lex P
But let me ask you this.
Julian Horton
It's like. It's like. It's crazy. I just can't believe it. I just can't believe it. It's wild. Like, I had this at 4 years old and this did it period. No, I'm gonna cry. I'm sorry. Now I'm really about to go. Let me stop it. I'm not doing it, though. Okay, keep going.
Dre Nicole
Oh, no.
Julian Horton
He really is, like. It's like. It's insane to me. Yeah, this did it.
Lex P
Yeah. You should be proud of yourself.
Julian Horton
Don't show this.
Dre Nicole
That's amazing. It is.
Julian Horton
At the end of the day, I don't give a. Because I. Because like most people in this life, I. I look at life sometimes and. And I'm just talking candidly to y'all. I don't give a. I'm talking candidly because I look at people sometimes, and it's like, I look at. There's so many people living in this world that don't have their dreams manifest, right? Because whether it was fear, whether it was time, didn't play to your cards, whether it just. You didn't believe, it can be a lot of factors in it. But the fact that, like, God has allowed me to see my dreams manifest and I get to be around people that are also living their dreams, it's beautiful.
Dre Nicole
And I just feel like it's. It's a testimony to, like, when faith and hard work meet. Because you all. Because you always had faith. Like what you were talking about with what you were going through 10 years ago, you always had the faith within. You put the work in. And it's a manifestation of God's grace.
Lex P
It really is. Cuz I think a lot of times people don't realize, like, God will give you the keys, but you have to walk to the door. He's not going to push you there. You. He going to give you the keys. But you got to walk there and you got to sit there with a key. It's 100 keys on there, but you got to sit there and you got to keep. Don't. You got to keep. Keep going now you do. You know what I'm saying? And I. And like I said, we can all. All feel this because we've all been through our, you know, trials and tribulations and things like that, but I think everybody on this earth has talents. Everybody has something special. God didn't make us separate. We're not separate. Everybody is the same. But what is the difference is that the perseverance and. And a lot of times I thank God that I didn't stop because there's people out there. You'd be like, oh, my God, they're so talented. They're so thick because they stop or.
Dre Nicole
They be so close.
Lex P
They be so close. And I thank God that I. I always say this my Faith is stronger than my doubt because I never stopped. I said, I don't know how. I don't know how. You just gotta keep going. And I think us just sitting here in this room is a testament to that, that you just don't stop. You can't stop. Because if you do stop, it's gonna get worse. Worse. What's the point of stopping? What is the point of stop?
Dre Nicole
Once you stop, you got to start over again.
Lex P
What? There's no. There is no good coming out from stopping. And even though it gets tough and you're like, oh, my God, I haven't done it. I haven't done it, but it gets worse if you stop.
Julian Horton
Go ahead.
Dre Nicole
Well, no, I was just gonna say. And it's like the age old saying that people always say, nothing good comes from staying in your comfort zone. You have to be uncomfortable to grow, grow and to get to where you're trying to go in life.
Julian Horton
I'm just happy that like, y'all, myself included, everyone here, history books, fakes history books. I ain't gonna lie to you. Angle. I ain't gonna lie to you. I ain't gonna lie to you.
Dre Nicole
No, you do.
Julian Horton
I. I ain't gonna lie to you. I just. I just left Washington. I just left Washington. Teeth, I'm washing t. I just love Washington dc. I just love Washington dc Right? And you know, I love history. I love history. Like I said, I have. I have reverence and respect for a lot of the greats. Even if it's like presidents that did some bullshit, they still did it. You know, even. Even Donald Trump, he's a fucking jackass. He's crazy, he's wild. He's an idiot. Nigga said president of the United States though. And when I say that, it's like, why don't we go to Washington D.C. i just left there yesterday. It's like I see the statues and I'm at the Lincoln memorial and I'm at the Washington Memorial. I'm thinking about all the people and Martin Luther King making the speech. I'm thinking of Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson, the National Smithsonian Black History museum. It's like these people. And the reason I said Trump is like, because like, like Trump's an. But he still took control of his life and made something out of himself. He's a. Whatever, whatever. I'm not, I'm not, I'm. I'm not trying to get into politics and. But it's like there's this like, small respect for that. Like still make something about themselves because at the end of the day it's like you could have chose the latter.
Lex P
Well, I'll say.
Dre Nicole
But he was already real.
Lex P
White men in America. I said, I said this other day, on decision decisions, if you're a white man in America and you not rich, you just fucking suck. Cause the keys of life are handed to you.
Julian Horton
They are.
Lex P
Don't feel like you are white male in America and you're not rich and successful. That's your own fault. You know who I give props to?
Julian Horton
Who?
Lex P
Barack Obama. Because those were the people that are. You know what I'm saying? Like you said Martin Luther King.
Julian Horton
Yeah.
Lex P
Cause it's harder.
Julian Horton
But you're 100. 100. Correct.
Lex P
But I get your delusion point because I think delusion can successful.
Dre Nicole
It's always successful. Everybody that is successful is delusional.
Julian Horton
You know what's so crazy about America though? America. And I'm so glad we're having this conversation because this is like my thoughts. America is like a weird ass place. This we live on. I love living here. I'm appreciative. It's the best country in the world. I'm proud to be an American whatever type. But it's like I'm proud to be in America. But it's like I was literally proud of you. I'm free. It's like even you say that. That was like. But like America is kind of up too though. I thought about the other day I, I and I went to Will Smith's page. Will Smith had posted like the 30 year anniversary of Bad Boys, right? He had tagged Michael Bay. I went to Michael Bay's Instagram page. I haven't been to Michael Bay. Michael Bay, he's a great director.
Lex P
M, it's Michael.
Julian Horton
Michael Bay. But he said like, yeah, he had a video of him meeting Trump and he did a Secret Service super bowl commercial and it was a dope ass commercial. America has been founded because this, that and the third. It had like Teddy Roosevelt in it and Franklin Delano Roosevelt on that. And I was like, it's so crazy because like America is amazing. But really stole this. Yeah, literally stole this.
Dre Nicole
Definitely stole it from the Indians.
Julian Horton
They stole from Native Americans. And it's like it made me feel weird because I'm like, we're so prideful about being American. I know this is going like a whole different way right now. But I like, I thought we just like talking.
Lex P
This is what we do.
Julian Horton
But it's like n really came to this bitch in 1492 and were like this is ours and stole this bitch.
Lex P
But not only that.
Julian Horton
And stole this bitch.
Lex P
Motherfucker, she's crazy. On top of that. They did not expect this to happen. They didn't expect a black man to be on the number one show on Netflix. They didn't expect two black girls to create an empire of poor minds. They didn't expect Tyler Perry to be a billionaire. They didn't expect. Respect, Jay Z. That's what I'm saying. We are doing things. That's why I said. I get the delusional talk. Because every successful black person in America, even if you are making six figures a year, you are an anomaly. Because we were not supposed to do this. They are confused. They are mad. And that is why. So you know, it is what it is.
Julian Horton
But then again, it's like America was built and then it's like we do get these opportunities. So it's like. It's kind of like a double edged sword. Because I'd be thinking about sometimes it's like going back to 1492 and. And I'm thinking about the Pilgrims and like that.
Dre Nicole
What else happened?
Julian Horton
I'm like, damn. I'm like, damn. Really? Stolen name Mega. They were just chilling. But wouldn't. I'm not gonna say nothing else because. Because my thing is like was Native Americans mindset to. To. To. To expand like this, this. And I think that. I think it's really the thought America is more so like expansion bass. Do whatever you want.
Dre Nicole
So you're saying it's good they stole it because was we gonna be here and that.
Julian Horton
And to be honest with you, that is the. I'm glad you asked that because that is the question that you asked. It's like, damn, that's up.
Dre Nicole
Oh, I knew where you was going.
Julian Horton
That's up. How the hell they do that? But then it's like would have. Would it have been these skyscrapers in the building? If like it's such a weird. And we can't do nothing about it. We're just here. We're in the latest advanced time in the world by the same time. It is. It's a. It's a weird phenomenon. I will say that because it's like definitely. Have you seen Kills of the Flower Moon?
Lex P
No. Oh. With Leonardo DiCaprio. Yay.
Julian Horton
That's so that's what I'm saying. It's like, I'm not.
Lex P
Shit is up.
Julian Horton
Yeah, it's up.
Lex P
It's fucked up.
Julian Horton
It's fucked up. I'm not. I'm not trying to even speak on like, I love Native American. That's. I'm not being serious. I think that's. But it's like, but it's also like, I don't know what they. Cause I'm getting way. This is like the in house conversation that's going on. But it's like, nevermind, keep going. I don't want to get too deep with this shit. Because that can get deep and it's.
Dre Nicole
Like, no, I like it. I love having conversations like this because I feel like for most people it's just about. I get where you're coming from and I agree, agree with you. But I think for most people it's like more so about the morals. But.
Julian Horton
Yes.
Dre Nicole
So they just feel like it was wrong to come here and rape and pillage and steal everything from them.
Julian Horton
It definitely was wrong.
Dre Nicole
But at the end of the day when it comes to morals, I always say how much morals do most people really have? Like, people love to have morals when it comes to certain things. But I feel like most people don't.
Julian Horton
Really because it's so funny have as.
Dre Nicole
Many as they say.
Julian Horton
It's so funny you say that too because some might be like, damn, like they really did that up. But they're being, they'll be in their five bedroom house like mimosa, stealing from other people. So it's like. So it's like you wouldn't be able to do that if that's why it's tricky.
Dre Nicole
Yep, that's why it's so tricky.
Julian Horton
Cuz it's like, yeah, we wouldn't be having. Able to have this conversation.
Dre Nicole
You know, people love to be fake outraged by what they up.
Julian Horton
It's just up. That's what I'm going to say. It's up and it's messed up and then we can't control it.
Dre Nicole
I agree.
Julian Horton
We're in 20255 now.
Dre Nicole
We wouldn't know that was in 1492, right, cuz?
Julian Horton
I wouldn't have done it like that. I would have came in like, yo, this land is great, man.
Dre Nicole
What you would have.
Julian Horton
I would have been like, yo, yo, yo, my, my, this is.
Lex P
Why did you ask him that? Cuz?
Dre Nicole
I want to know why you ask him.
Julian Horton
I want to know what, what I would have done. What I would have done. I would have came down, said, oh, like this fire. Oh, there's so much land here, bro, bro. Hey, bro, how about this? We should come up together with a game plan.
Lex P
Okay.
Julian Horton
We come. We, we want, we, we wanted, we want to expand.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
We came on this boat, we was on this for 30 days. Going on choppy ass water. We had a fight. So you see, we had a fight. Some didn't even make it, dog. I'm still grieving over my jumped overboard. Jumped overboard this. Y'all got a nice ass land here. My thing is it. I think we should expand this. And the thing about it, I think we should come together, cuz. I don't want to fight. Displace y'all fight. I don't want to fight. I don't want to kill nobody. I don't want to torment nobody. I want us to be a peaceful coalition together. And let's expand this baby.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And we can do it together. Y'all can be governors and mayors and presidents. We can be governors and made some presidents. And that's why I would have done it. Then again, I think. I think. I think maybe they ran into some like.
Dre Nicole
No, yeah, that's definitely what they ran into.
Julian Horton
And then was like.
Dre Nicole
Was not like lesbians.
Julian Horton
Okay.
Lex P
And then they killed them. And then they wrote Pocahontas to make.
Dre Nicole
Us think was sweet under the blue corn moon.
Julian Horton
I don't know how. This is crazy how we got here. I'm so sorry. I love. Y'all are so amazing. Y'all beautiful. I'll tell you. I gotta remind y'all, four miles is amazing. I don't know how we got here. But this is the thought that happened in my head, though. Cause I just left D.C. but that's what I would have done, though. I would have tried to be like, no, we ain't doing that. Like, come on, man, please, nigga. Like, I don't want. Like, there's a niggas I don't want to. There's some n. I know that's going to do some bullshit.
Lex P
That never happened though, because they were darker skinned people. So they automatically went on that land and looked at them as slaves. And you're beneath me. I don't even think that that happened as far as like, oh, let's try. And they were like, no, it was never a negotiation.
Dre Nicole
They lied about.
Julian Horton
You think they came out of some gangster shit.
Lex P
They came over here like some yns.
Julian Horton
Damn.
Lex P
They definitely did. And they wet the block up. They wasn't talking. They. No, it was none of that.
Dre Nicole
It wasn't no negotiation.
Lex P
It wasn't no negotiation. It wasn't even a chance.
Julian Horton
I thought they had a dinner first.
Lex P
Girl, they Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving. You think? Thank you. We didn't even celebrate water.
Dre Nicole
I thought.
Julian Horton
I thought they had a dinner first and they had the little like, that is not what.
Lex P
Thanks. The truth behind Thanksgiving. I'm going to do a do. I'm going send you a documentary about the truth about Thanksgiving. Boo. Cuz we going to get real.
Dre Nicole
We going to never want to eat turkey again.
Lex P
Hey, you going to turn vegan? I'm telling you.
Julian Horton
But guess what? The. The c. We all can agree the culprit. We know the culprit is right.
Dre Nicole
Who is the culprit?
Lex P
The white. The white man.
Julian Horton
I have a white best friend. Yeah. This ain't about you.
Lex P
Okay?
Julian Horton
So, so, so, so we. We all can. Never mind. All right.
Lex P
We going to move on. Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved being on camera, entertaining myself and everybody around me by sharing my thoughts and opinions on anything pop culture. For the past few years, I've heard your request, but now it's finally time to deliver. Okay, y'all, let's get into the tea. With love, Lex P. Tasty.
Dre Nicole
First thing that I put on the list, you all, is never settle. And if you're an avid listener of poor minds, then you probably have heard me say this numerous times. Like, I say this all the time. I've always felt this way. Don't ever settle for anything in life if it's not exactly what you want. Don't let people tell you that you cannot get what you want out of this life, because it's absolutely possible. I had so many people when I was in my 20s telling me that the things that I wanted was unrealistic, unreasonable. And if I had listened to those people, people, I wouldn't be where I am today. It's not for anybody else to understand that as long as you know what it is and you willing to put the work in to get the things that you want, you don't have to settle. And don't let people convince you that you have to settle. It's usually people that are settling in their own lives that try to, you know, make other people feel like, oh, you can't do this, or you can't make that happen. You're thinking too far outside the box. How you gonna do that? No, boo, you can't do that. I can do whatever I want to do. Okay? And I will. So, yeah, don't ever.
Lex P
So now it's time to get into the box about. First of all, we are way over time.
Julian Horton
We are. Hey, we are having fun, though.
Lex P
We are having fun.
Dre Nicole
So our bartender.
Julian Horton
Can I get another? That's hot.
Lex P
I'm weak.
Julian Horton
That's hot.
Lex P
Bop of the week is like the song, please, that we've been jamming this week. Whatever music you've been listening to.
Julian Horton
Oh, shit. Y'all, hold up, y'all.
Lex P
What happened?
Julian Horton
Hold up. I'm gonna do some shit.
Dre Nicole
Oh, somebody called him back.
Lex P
Somebody who called him back?
Dre Nicole
I don't know.
Julian Horton
We about to see bitch so bad he can't even trick me.
Lex P
Nigga, I'm weak. What's going on? We got a phone call going. There he is.
Julian Horton
Hey, I'm on Poor Mine's.
Lex P
Oh, hi.
Julian Horton
I'm on Poor Mine's podcast right now. Right. I gotta check this hat. And we were just talking about. We were talking about relationships and, like, adoration and gratitude.
Lex P
Who is it? I can't see.
Julian Horton
And I called you because I wanted to, like, just say hello to you in front of everybody and shit.
Lex P
Let me see. So I can't see.
Dre Nicole

Lex P
But him as a humanitarian, he's just.

Dre Nicole
He is. He has really great energy. We have really been enjoying this episode. We can't wait to have you on the show too. Yes. You gotta come back to the A. Okay.

Dre Nicole
Nothing too crazy.
Lex P
Nothing too crazy.
Dre Nicole
Okay, so now what you been listening to?
Lex P
The Bop of the week, so. My bop of the week. Y'all know I love Alex Isley. Y'all know she is like a R B sensation. She has been doing music for a long time, but she just finally, finally dropped a new single called Hands. And y'all know it's just about putting your hands on me and making me feel real good. Shout out to Alex Isley. Keep dropping that music. We have been waiting, so. Yeah, I'm so glad she's dropping more music. We had her at the LA show.
Dre Nicole

Julian Horton
Hey, Alex. How you doing?
Lex P

Julian Horton
All two are amazing.
Lex P
Thank you. Thank you.
Julian Horton
No, no, no, no, no. When that drops, Summer.
Dre Nicole
Okay, okay.
Julian Horton
We ready Shopping.
Lex P
So. Damn.
Dre Nicole
I can't play it on my birthday. It's all right.
Lex P
I got. We be in a video like this, yo.
Julian Horton
Yeah, you know what's crazy? That is going to be like. I think the. We're gonna have to have like a. I got you.
Lex P
I'll make a video.
Julian Horton
Cause I did it yesterday on my Instagram. I was like, stop it.
Lex P
I'm not gonna lie. My homegirl works for a record label.
Julian Horton
Stop it, nigga.
Lex P
And she sent me, like, this TikTok thing to do. Cause she was like, we're trying to make this little filter go up. Can you make a video when I tell you I made it? And it got a million views? It was so funny. So I got y'all.
Julian Horton
It's over with, bro.
Lex P
I got y'all.
Julian Horton
It's over.
Lex P
You know, the only reason I did that video is cause Kellen made me.
Dre Nicole
I remember that's Stop it part.
Julian Horton
Cause. Because. Because it'd be so bad and travel Nick that shit cool. But it's really a Stop it part, though, because that's really mood. Because, like, I lied to you. Let me show you this real quick. Let me show you quick. So, like, I did this video yesterday. We're in the studio.
Dre Nicole
You did a video yesterday?
Julian Horton
Huh? You did a video yesterday. I was like. I was like, in the studio. Look at this.
Dre Nicole
Oh, you was lit, right?
Julian Horton
Stop it.
Lex P
I know. That's right.
Julian Horton
Exactly. And we didn't. Stop it. Stop, Period.
Lex P
Right. What you been listening to?
Dre Nicole
All right, my bad.
Julian Horton
I'm so. Is this a listening session?
Lex P
We having a.
Julian Horton
That's what I've been listening to every day, period.
Dre Nicole
It's called Every Day.
Julian Horton
No, no, no. That's called Tropics.
Dre Nicole
Oh, okay.
Julian Horton
It's called Tropics.
Dre Nicole
And it dropping the summertime.
Julian Horton
We got some other too, called Workout F. Okay, we.
Lex P
We going to say that. We going to save it.
Julian Horton
Yeah, you right. I'm getting ahead of myself, y'all.
Dre Nicole
So I've been listening to. So y'all know Leon Thomas has the song Mud. Everybody's been listening to that song. But he just came out with the remix with Chris Brown, the CB remix. And, you know, anything Chris Brown Touch is gold.
Lex P
Got them hits.
Dre Nicole
He do. He has those hits. And Mutt was already a hit because, of course, like, the breezy R Little razzle dance.
Lex P
I do like you, but I love.
Dre Nicole
But I also am a Chris Brown fan. Like, I like Chris Brown.
Lex P
I'm a Chris Brown, Stan. I gotta let the remix run a few times. I like it breezy.
Julian Horton
Let me say something about Chris Brown. Chris Brown goat. He's a fucking goat and he's a tw. Chris Brown's a goat dog. I met the nigga in LA two years ago at one of his parties and shit. He was. First of all, he's so cool. But, like, he just. He just.
Lex P
His ear is different because he has a R B ear and a pop ear.
Julian Horton
It does right now. Now, the Mutt remix, it didn't do it for me. It didn't. It. It didn't need him. But it's still fire.
Lex P
It's cool. It's cool. That's on. I feel like the original song was I love Chris Brown. So this is not no shade to him. It's cool. You know what I'm saying? But I get. I get it. I get it.
Julian Horton
You listen to it 10 times, you.
Lex P
Be like, that's what I'm saying. I need to write it back a few times. I only listen to it once. I mean, it's the same song. Just.
Dre Nicole
What, you know, a little verse from Chris Brown.
Lex P
Leon Thomas, he's a beast.
Julian Horton
And I'm so glad he's getting his flowers, cuz. That nigga's been around for a long time and it's just like, he. Man, Mutt is insane. That is one of the best songs of the year. But then you go to this album. Yeah. Vibes don't lie. You got. Yes, it is. You got Mutt. It's just like, project. I don't know why he didn't, like, submit it for the Grammys. They would have won the fucking Grammy. I don't know. I don't know.
Lex P
He did.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
I don't think he did, cuz that would have won a Grammy for Best R Me Album for sure.
Dre Nicole
I think so, too.
Julian Horton
Yes, it is. It's like. I think I've played it 5 million times.
Lex P
It's a solid project.
Julian Horton
And it's really. Tim. My Tim. I just played a song. He was like, bro. I was playing Mutt a lot.
Lex P
That's how you sound, Tim.
Julian Horton
Yeah. He's like, bro, Bro, bro. Play. Yes, play. Yes, it is. I said, what the is? Yes, it is. And then I haven't stopped playing in it for two months straight because, like, tell me that it's mine. Yes, it is. You know something that Puts in mind.
Lex P
Okay, now tell me that. Put some on your period. All right, now, do you give good advice?
Julian Horton
I give great advice.
Lex P
Okay, so we are going to get into our favorite segment of the week. It's the pour your heart out segment, where, you know, we read a question and we give good advice. If you want your question answered on the show, make sure you email us at ask poor minds gmail dot com. If you are a Patreon member, make sure you put that in the headline and you get to skip the line. I think we going to do one today. Dre, you want to read yours? You want me to read mine?
Dre Nicole
I can read it.
Lex P
Okay, go ahead.
Dre Nicole
First off, love y'all down. I want to stay anonymous, but I need advice. I've been with my kids father for nine years. We got together when I was 17 and he was 23. He's always taking care of me. We have two kids and another one on the way, and he's a great dad. Had. I've always been big on oral hygiene. I'm a registered dental assistant, so that matters a lot to me. From the start, he avoided opening his mouth too much or tongue kissing. I later found out he had periodontal disease. I did let him know about his condition, and he ended up going to the dentist. They told him he would eventually need a full mouth extraction or he could just let his teeth fall out on their own. He told me that growing up, his mom never took him to the dentist. Penis. When I first met him, his teeth were covered with crowns, so it was. It wasn't obvious. Later, down the line, he ended up getting veneers in Mexico. Now here we are nine years later, he's 30 and talking about marriage, which is great, and I want the same. He's a great father. He gets money, stays out the way, and he's fine. He really checks all the boxes. And in today's world, men like that are hard to find. The only thing I can't get over is his oral health. I can't even be intimate with my own man the way that I want to. I want to kiss him, like, really kiss him, but I just can't. What would y'all do in this situation? And how would y'all handle it?
Julian Horton
That. Come on, man. Come on, come on.
Dre Nicole
So he don't have no teeth.
Julian Horton
This is. This is the thing about that, okay? First and foremost. First and foremost, that's crazy. It might not. Second off is this. That's your man of nine years. How. How do you not have the relationship to just be honest with each other.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
And my girl's breath stink. Or her teeth say, babe, get your teeth fixed. At the end of the day, I love you. Your teeth suck. And at the end of the day, your breast stinks. Yeah. At the end of the day, I'm tired of doing this with you.
Dre Nicole
I'm tired of playing.
Julian Horton
Why the Are they coming to. Poor monsters. Y'all should tell that. That. So then the day it's like, just tell him. Say, babe, your breath stinks like you have halitosis periodontal disease. Listerine's not working. Crest white shifts ain't working, and the Crest mouthwash ain't working. At the end of the day is this. You need a full makeover, babe. In a full makeover. I love you to death. By the end of the day, I'm getting aggravated and annoyed.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Julian Horton
By your breath and your teeth. So please get them fixed. There you go.
Dre Nicole
Because I feel like if he has periodontal disease, he needs to let all of those. He needs to get all of those teeth removed, and then he needs to go get implants.
Julian Horton
That's it.
Dre Nicole
But I feel like y'all have already been together for, like, nine years, girl, so he probably feel like she. We good. He probably feel like you not tripping.
Julian Horton
Let me tell you something.
Dre Nicole
I would have been saying something a long.
Julian Horton
Exactly.
Dre Nicole
Long, long time ago.
Julian Horton
If you can't be best friends with your partner and get another girl.
Lex P
Oh, yeah, you said a word with that.
Dre Nicole
That's true.
Lex P
You should be comfortable as hell.
Dre Nicole
Yeah.
Lex P
I would never let my best friend. Like, if Dre was, like, a little. I'd be like, girl, you a little tart.
Dre Nicole
You gotta let people know.
Lex P
Or vice versa. So if I can't tell my man that. Vice versa. My man should be the first one telling me if my breast tank. Cause he the one that's in my face, and I feel like.
Dre Nicole
Or. And she said, everything is cool. But that. Girl, that should be number one. Oral hygiene is very, very, very important. And I get that different people have different list of priorities of what's important to them, but I feel like mental health needs to be higher on your list than some of the other stuff.
Lex P
Agree.
Julian Horton
Nah, that's facts.
Lex P
Big facts.
Julian Horton
Even that pussy stank. I said, baby, you gotta take a shower, babe.
Dre Nicole
No, she probably need to do something else.
Julian Horton
Babe, what the fuck have you done on that?
Lex P
Hey, what's going on down there?
Julian Horton
Put your fucking ass in the shower. I'll wash your ass.
Dre Nicole
Can't be washing.
Julian Horton
I wash her Ass right now.
Lex P
But I'm talking about like a little gym sweat, okay? We ain't talking about anything else other than that. Sometimes you get from the gym and you just think you can lay down on the couch. Couch. That might stink a little bit. Them balls, babe, them balls stank a little bit.
Julian Horton
Hey, hey. I'm real clean. I'm. I'm real big on hygiene.
Dre Nicole
You are.
Julian Horton
I wipe my balls so much. I have rashes almost. I. I ripe them so much. I want. I want to be so clean and pure.
Lex P
You got to do it.
Julian Horton
I want you to enjoy it when you do it.
Lex P
I mean, get the job done.
Julian Horton

I don't need that. I don't need that. I need to feel the good squeaky clean. Cuz when it's clean, oh my gosh. You get into it more activate. You. You. You turn over. You turn over. You turn over. E, E, E, E, E, E. And then come back. Turn over. You don't do.
