All these were the sons of Joktan, Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah, Eber, Peleg, Rehu, Serug, Nahor, Terah, Abram that is Abraham from Abraham to Jacob the sons of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. These are their genealogies. The firstborn of Ishmael, Naboth, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsim, Mishma, Duma, Massa, Hadad, Tema, Jiter, Nephesh and Kadima. Husham died and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab reigned in his place, the name of a city being Avith. Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place. Samla died and Shaul of Rehoboth of the Euphrates reigned in his place. Shaul died and BAAL Hanun the son of Achbor reigned in his place. Beyol Hanun died and Hadad reigned in his place, the name of his city being Pai, and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab and Hadad died. And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved, for the Lord will carry out a sentence upon the earth fully and without delay. And as Isaiah predicted, if the Lord of hosts had not led us offspring, we would have been like Sodomon and become like Amora, Israel's unbelief. What shall we say then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness, that is, by faith. But that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone as it is written, Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame. Psalm 117 the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord. All nations extol him, all peoples for great is his steadfast love toward us. And the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.
