365 brothers and sisters. We've got a big one planned for you. This is our review of the Book of Acts. And I am so excited about this book. Now, I want to say this right off the bat because it is extraordinarily important that you note this. If you want a good teaching through the whole book, go to james cadiz.com. you could go to my Bible studies and you can listen to my teaching through the whole book. We also have lots of very explosive, yes, I'm going to use that term, summaries of this book here at Bible in365. You can go and look at some of those previous summaries. But I want to focus on something
B
that I think is so critical for
A
the time and day, considering everything that
B
has happened over the last six to
A
seven months, considering the craziness that we've been seeing. I'm here to tell you this about
B
the Book of Acts. And it is so important that you recognize it for what it is.
A
Listen to me when I say this,
B
and this is so critical.
A
The Book of Acts is not primarily the story of great men. A lot of people might make that assertion. It is the story of what happens when ordinary people are empowered by the Holy Spirit. That's really where the most amazing part of this book rests. And folks, I have to tell you this. We can learn so much from the pattern that we see in this amazing book. And the last thing I want you to do is. Is to miss out on the personal opportunity that this brings to you because it is substantial. Okay, so let's talk about this for a second. I always refer to this as the Acts of the Holy Spirit because it is. There's so much to say about that, and there's so much interesting insight that you can gain just from that fact. But let's just go down a path that will help to develop your understanding of what is on the table for you. Look, when most people think of the book of Acts, they think about Peter, and they think about Paul and Stephen and Philip and Barnabas and all of the apostles. And oftentimes they think about how unattainable their own personal ministries are in light of these mighty men. But if you really study the book hard, you really focus on it, you'll discover that the Acts that we're talking about here are not ultimately about them. The Acts that we're talking about here is the work of the Holy Spirit. That's actually what we're saying. And I want you to understand this. We have to focus on One of the key verses in the Book of Acts. And remember this, Jesus made this clear before he ascended into heaven. He says this in verse eight of chapter one of the Book of Acts. He says, but you shall receive power. By the way, did you notice the word explosion that I had used earlier? This is where we get that word from. It's actually where we get the word dynamite from. It's explosive power. That's what this is talking about. You shall receive power. After that, the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria. By the way, did you notice that it mentions Judea, Samaria, not the West Bank. Did you notice that? Anyway, all of Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And notice what Jesus didn't say? Okay? He didn't say, you shall receive education. He didn't say, you'll receive influence or resources. He said, you shall receive power. That's what he says here. And the entire Book of Acts is the fulfillment of that single promise. In verse 8. If you were to look, for example, at Acts chapter two, the Holy Spirit comes upon the believers. They're baptized with the Holy Spirit, and immediately everything changes for them. Fear becomes courage. Timidity literally becomes boldness. And guess what? Confusion becomes complete clarity. And that's pretty remarkable. Ordinary men at that moment became powerful witnesses for Jesus Christ doing supernatural things. Peter's a perfect example. I mean, think about this for just a second, you guys. Just weeks earlier, Peter denied Jesus three times. He was afraid of what people thought. He actually cursed to a little girl because he was so scared of what the crowd was going to think. Yet, after being filled with the Holy Spirit, he stands before thousands of people and boldly proclaims the Gospel. Even after accused of being drunk and crazy. 3000 people are saved in a single day. What changed? What was different from the Peter that denied Jesus three times and heard the rooster crow? And the Peter that we read now, the Peter that we read today, the answer is simple. The Holy Spirit. That's the answer. As you continue through the Book of Acts, the pattern repeats itself over and
B
over and over and over again.
A
The Holy Spirit directs ministry. He gives wisdom. He gives boldness. He gives power. He opens doors. He changes lives. He sends missionaries, and he strengthens believers, even through times of persecution. And he transforms entire cities. I'm sorry for getting excited about this, but you should be excited. This is the work. Look, you could add Charlie Kirk to this story. This was the work of God in the life of Charlie Kirk.
B
Look, the story of Acts is the story of what happens when God works through people who are completely yielded to Him. Erica oftentimes talks about the very moment where she saw the most explosive and
A
powerful change in Charlie. It was the moment where he said, here am I. In other words, I'm yielding myself. I'm open to the Holy Spirit coming and filling me.
B
Here's the exciting part, and this is really important. The same Holy Spirit who empowered believers in the Book of Acts is available to us today.
A
Peter actually promised that. He said it's for anybody who will receive Him. Many Christians have accepted Christ and have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. That's promised. But there is also the empowering work of the Holy Spirit that Jesus spoke about in Acts, chapter one, verse eight. This is the supernatural enabling that gives believers boldness and effectiveness for ministry. Guys, why did Jesus tell his disciples to wait in Jerusalem? Think about that for just a second. Because he knew they could not accomplish God's work in their own human strength. And guys, listen to me. Neither can we. We can't do it. The church does not need more cleverness. Okay, let me say that again. The church doesn't need more cleverness. It doesn't need more programs. Oh my goodness. It doesn't need more programs. It certainly doesn't need more marketing. What it needs is more of the Holy Spirit. The greatest need in our generation is the same need that existed in the first century. We need men and women who are empowered by the Holy Spirit and willing to be used by God.
B
Look, if you're reading through the Bible in365 in all these different days and
A
you've come to the Book of Acts, don't simply admire what happened. Don't go through your reading schedule and say, hey, listen, this is really cool. And look at what happened to these guys. Ask God to do the same work in your life now. Ask him to fill you. Ask him to empower you. Ask him to make you bold. Ask him to use you as an important witness.
B
Because the same Holy Spirit who worked through Peter, who worked through Paul and Stephen and Philip and yes, the whole
A
early church and even today in Charlie
B
is still working in this very moment. The Book of Acts has never really ended.
A
It's an open ended book.
B
My mom is a part of that open ended book.
A
My dad is a part of that open ended book. Charlie is certainly a part of that open ended book. I want my life to be a part of that open ended book.
B
The Holy Spirit is still writing new chapters through believers who are willing to say, lord, here I am. Fill me. Empower me. Use me for your glory. And when that happens, let me tell you, lives are changed, families are changed, communities are changed.
A
And guess what? God is glorified.
B
That is the message of Acts. That's the story of the Acts of the Holy Spirit. And you get to be a part of that. It's something that God has made available to you. If you've never specifically. If there's anything you're going to listen to, listen to this. If you've never specifically asked the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit and empower you for service, what would keep you from doing that today?
A
What would keep you from just stopping the video and saying, God, I want this.
B
Ask him for it. Seek him. Say, here am I.
A
Use me.
B
Yield your life to him. The disciples were never the same after they asked.
A
After the Holy Spirit came upon them,
B
my life was never the same. I remember where I was over 30 years ago when I asked the Spirit of God to baptize me. When I asked the Father to baptize me with His Spirit, I remember where I was. My life was never the same. God has filled my life every day with doing supernatural works in very natural ways. You can be a part of that. I want you to be able to say, here I am. Use me and watch God do great things. So much is at stake. Put it out to the Lord.
A
Say, God, I want to be a part of the writing of this book
B
and watch him show up. I love you guys. Ask him for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We need more men and more women who are filled with the Holy Spirit to do his work. I love you guys. Do not let this video end without saying, here I am, Lord. Use me. Baptize me with your Holy Spirit. I love you guys. God bless you.
