All right, my Bible in 365, brothers and sisters, we have arrived at the most exciting, yes, I'm going to say exciting book of Leviticus. And yes, folks, I'm not messing around. This is indeed a very exciting book. And I hope you will come to see it the way that I see it. Because, folks, I'm going to tell you this. If you will study this book the way God intended for you to study it, you will be blown away, you will be enriched, and you will be absolutely blessed. Now, what I am going to do is I'm going to go over a few very important verses in this book that effectively show you what the book is all about, what it centers around, and what it anchors to. Now, the first passage that I have to mention, and this one is very important, is in Leviticus, chapter 11. And his verse is in verse 44. Now, let me just simply say this. This isn't the end all and the say all, like the last verse, I'm
going to share with you, but this
is an important one. Okay, let me read to you the very first part of this verse. It says, for I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy, for I am holy. Now, going on to the rest of
that is an incredible, incredible passage.
As a matter of fact, I just taught through that just a few weeks ago. And if you have been following us as I've been going through Leviticus live on Sunday mornings, then you know what this is all about, which is why I decided not to teach through one of the earlier studies, rather give you a summary of the book and why it's so important. Now, there is one verse that I want to read to you that will give you a deeper understanding. And if you know this verse literally, if this is the verse that you know, then you pretty much know Leviticus, okay? At least understanding the purpose and the mindset. And that is in Leviticus, chapter 19. And it is in verse two. And it says this, Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel and say unto them, you shall be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am holy. Now, sounds a little bit like what we just read in chapter 11, but this is the best summation of it all. Now, let's talk about this, because this verse for us captures so much of
the core theme of the book of Leviticus, okay?
It reveals the central purpose of the law of God, which, by the way, there are many other purposes, okay? Very important to understand it. It explains the sacrificial system it really does. It helps us to be able to understand why that exists. It explains all of the purity laws, it explains the priesthood. It explains the day of atonement. It explains all of the moral commands. And every single one of these subjects deal with the matter of holiness.
And that's really, really important. Okay, look, Leviticus is not primarily about rituals. It is about the subject of holiness. Now, what does holy mean? Holy means that you have been set aside for a purpose, to glorify God. And you are going to learn so much about that in the book of Leviticus. Go through the study with me. You are going to love it. Now, let's just go over a quick summary because they are so important. Okay?
The first seven chapters of the book
of Leviticus deal with the subject of
sacrifice, all the different sacrifices, and all of them point to Jesus. The Next chapters, chapters 8 through 10 deal with the priesthood. Why is that important? Because there's a lot of fakes out there that are doing things in the name of Jesus that do not honor God, nor do they walk holy. And Leviticus, chapters 8 through 10 deals with that subject, including the consequence of people who misrepresent God.
Aaron's own sons are killed because they choose to do things their way instead of God's way. And then chapters 11 through 15 deal with all the purity laws.
And they are important laws. They separate those who are clean from unclean. And by the way, it's these laws that explain why. And this is super important to understand this. It's these laws that explain that explain why you have the Jews who have survived so many different difficult times throughout history. It's these laws that are the reason why when most people were dying of the plague, the Jews were not. Why? Because the laws of cleanliness were the ones that saved them.
They were the ones that kept them healthy, including childbirth.
So many things to say about that. And then chapter 16, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. That's a very great chapter, and we'll learn a lot in it. And then, of course, I've already read that section in chapter 19. But from chapter 17 all the way through chapter 27, it is what I believe could be described as practical holiness.
What does practical holiness mean?
It means.
I said, what does practical holiness mean? Can you tell?
It's late at night and I'm going on about two hours of sleep. That's hilarious.
It means this practical holiness means, what do I have in front of me that enables me to practically walk out my faith? That's what you'll find in Exodus. That's terrible. In Leviticus, chapter 17 through 27. It's an important, important book. You cannot blow it off. You cannot pretend as though it's just a bunch of rules that you don't want to read. You will be blown away. Your life will be changed by what you are hearing and what you are reading. If you don't want to go through this on your own because you're intimidated by it, listen to my Bible. Teaching through it.
Join us on Sunday mornings as we're
going through it, and you will love every bit of it. As a matter of fact, today, the
day that this is being released, I'm
teaching through Leviticus in our live service Sunday morning. You don't want to miss it. You will absolutely love it.
Okay?
Now with that said, I love you guys. I'm so proud of you. It was an amazing question and answer session. I was so proud of all the questions. We were able to answer all of them, and they were great questions. So wonderful job. Keep reading the Word. Do that which God has called you to do, and he will bless you immensely. And whatever you do, don't forget this. Don't forget it. Fight the good fight. I love you guys. God bless you. Keep seeking him and look to Almighty God who will help you and walk with you as you put him first. God bless you guys.
