It's frightening how quickly things are changing. Typically, scientists and technology experts call it advancement in all ways and in every field we are told our innovations are advancing. But what if what we typically think of as advancement is actually a cheap knockoff for something God already offers? The three members of God's Holy Trinity are God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. For everything God has, Satan tries to twist and create his own counterfeit version of for example, many who are familiar with end times prophecy would say that Satan has his own unholy Trinity. Many assume that this is Satan, the Antichrist and the false prophet. Most would put Satan in the false father role, the Antichrist as the false son role, and by process of elimination, the false prophet would be in the false Holy Spirit role. However, Satan has a problem. Satan is not omnipresent like God is. No member of Satan's unholy Trinity can be with all of his followers at all times in the way God can. So as always, he has to come up with a workaround. If Satan wanted to create his own evil version of Pentecost, which would be a time when all of his followers would, in a sense, receive his spirit, how could he go about doing that? I believe the ultimate answer lies in artificial intelligence. Let's look at a few examples of the Holy Spirit in Scripture and see if we can find some parallels to what Satan might be wanting to do. The Holy Spirit played a role in the creation of the world starting in the very first verse of the Bible, right before we learn about the rest of the creation process. We read, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1 not only the physical world, but we also learn the Holy Spirit has something to do with heaven as well. By His Spirit he adorned the heavens. Job 26:13a the Holy Spirit also plays a part in the regeneration of the world. The Holy Spirit also plays a part in the regeneration of the world. People shall mourn upon their breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine on the land of my people will come up thorns and briers, yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city. Because the palaces will be forsaken, the bustling city will be deserted, the forts and towers will become lairs forever. A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks. Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field. And the fruitful field is counted as a forest. Isaiah 32, 12, 15. In those three passages, we have the creation of the original world, the creation of heaven, and the recreation of the world. How might artificial intelligence be used to counterfeit these things? Well, interestingly enough, there is a new digital world that exists right now that anyone can enter and interact with other people in. There are many versions of this, but the main one people are familiar with is called the Metaverse. People can put on a virtual reality headset, and all of a sudden they are transported into a new world. Now, at first, the Metaverse was a bit of a failed experiment, as it didn't garner as much interest or traction as developers were hoping. But it seems that's all about to change, as now artificial intelligence is being eyed to revitalize the Metaverse. By incorporating artificial intelligence, they can create a more robust and immersive experience for users truly tapping into the idea of creating a new world. There's also the idea of using AI to assist in mapping the brain so that a person can upload his or her consciousness into a machine. This is, of course, a twisted version of Heaven. The idea has even been popularized in the entertainment industry with such television shows as Upload and Pantheon. There are problems with this, of course. How could we ever know if the consciousness in the machine is truly the person who was just uploaded or just a sophisticated copy like a digital clone? The two would be indistinguishable. However, to many, this will seem like a better option than dying completely. In this way, AI could be used to create a type of afterlife or heaven for people. In my opinion, though, I do not believe a person's actual spirit can be integrated into a machine after the body dies. So it is most likely this technology would just create a digital copy of a person and the real person is gone from our physical world. Lastly, AI is expected to recreate the world as we know it. There's even an article on the National Library of Medicine's website called Artificial Intelligence is Restructuring a New World. We can already see this happening today. AI is in everything now, from popular social media platforms to industry to our own personal lives. At the same time, it's being used to provide humanity with all sorts of benefits. In a twisted counterfeit of the Holy Spirit providing for our needs. AI is being used today to provide all sorts of things to humanity, and not all of them are good. The more AI is rolled out, the more isolated people become. There are even people who have entered into romantic relationships with AI. It's truly A different world than we had only a few years ago. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come upon individuals for periods of time. Numbers 27, 18, judges 3, 10 and 1 Samuel 10, 9, 10. But he didn't dwell in believers permanently the way he does now. In a similar way, AI is available to people in the outside world, but it doesn't exist inside of us. At least not just yet. But that is almost here. Neuralink is a company founded by Elon Musk that aims to create implantable brain computer interfaces. Right now, it's being prompted as a way for people with severe disabilities to regain some control through computers. In fact, they are currently seeking volunteers from the official Neuralink website. Neuralink is currently seeking people with quadriplegia to participate in a groundbreaking investigational medical device clinical trial for our brain computer interface. One of Musk's long term goals is to integrate AI into human consciousness. And one obvious way to accomplish that would be through the Neuralink brain chip. All of a sudden, AI will be able to dwell within individual human beings. This could very well be the way that Satan gets around his lack of omnipresence. AI can be in all places at once. Even today, anyone can get online and talk with ChatGPT or Grok. But imagine when it can be implanted directly into a person's brain. Let's look at the dark parallels between the integration of AI into human brains and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We understand the timeline of events from Scripture. First, Jesus is crucified. He dies so that we can have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Then Jesus resurrected. But the angel answered and said to the woman, do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, for he is risen. As he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay, and go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. And indeed he is going before you into Galilee. There you will see him. Behold, I have told you. Matthew 28:5,7. Next came Pentecost, which is the day that the Holy Spirit began to indwell believers. When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord, in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing Mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1 4 Jesus tells us what the Holy Spirit will do for believers, but the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26 now let's look at Satan's counterfeit parallels. First, we know the Antichrist has his own version of a death and resurrection. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed, and all the world marveled and followed the beast. Revelation 13:2b3 now let's see what happens right after this event. Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 13:11 17 after we read about the Antichrist's deadly head wound, we are introduced to the false prophet. Many believe the false prophet is the evil counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. But again, there's a problem. The false prophet is not omnipresent either. First the Antichrist receives a deadly wound which is then healed. Death and resurrection. Next, the false prophet shows up, much like how the Holy Spirit showed up after the death and resurrection of Jesus. The false prophet is not omnipresent like the Holy Spirit is. So what does he do? The text says he tells people to make an image of the beast. And then there's a mark people must receive on their right hand or foreheads. In fact, in order to receive this mark, one must worship the beast. It sounds very similar to how we receive the Holy Spirit after we accept Jesus as our Savior. After a person accepts the Antichrist as their savior, they receive the mark of the beast. Perhaps part of what the mark is has to do with an implantation of a chip that connects a person to an End Times AI. In fact, the AI itself could be the image of the beast, much in the way how scientists and technology developers believe one day humans can upload their consciousnesses to a machine and essentially live forever. Since it is the false prophet who implements this, we can see how the false prophet plays the role of a counterfeit Holy Spirit even more. Much like today, this End Times AI can fulfill a twisted version of what the Holy Spirit does teach all things. While it's not quite there yet, AI is beginning to be used more than Google for people to search facts about anything and everything. Lastly, we're told once we accept Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, we are eternally changed and sealed. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new in him. You also trusted after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13, 14. We see dark parallels to this involving the mark of the beast. Many people believe part of what the mark of the beast will do is change a person from human to something else, possibly modern day Nephilim. Part angel, part human and not eligible for salvation. In fact, it's entirely possible that the Antichrist will be the literal son of Satan, making him part angel and part human. As written in the excellent book the Final Nephilim by Ryan Pitterson, it is perhaps this part angel immortality that is bestowed upon people when they receive the mark of the beast. Instead of a promise of spiritual eternal life, they are granted an inability to physically die. However, it turns out this is not as great as the people who received the mark probably originally thought. Then the fifth angel sounded and I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit and opened the bottomless pit and the smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke out of A great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth, and to them was given power as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And and they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days, men will seek death and will not find it. They will desire to die and death will flee from them. Revelation 9:1 6 Whether the inability to die is a direct consequence of the mark of the beast or merely being an unbeliever in Jesus is not exactly clear. But the result is still the same. In some way. These people have a counterfeit version of immortality. They are being tortured by these locust beings, yet are not able to die, even though the torture is so great. They seek death, but do not find it. Now, as we saw earlier, when we accept Jesus, we become a new creation in an evil sense. The convert of the Antichrist becomes a new creation as well. Yet Jesus only died for humans. So whoever receives the mark of the beast gives up their chance at ever being saved through Jesus. Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, if anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of his indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever. And they have no rest, day or night, who worships the beast and his image and whoever receives the mark of his name. Revelation 4:19 11 instead of being sealed in eternity and heaven bound, these people are sealed into a torturous afterlife that never ends. The mark of the beast does the exact opposite of what the Holy Spirit promises. I don't believe AI is at the point yet that it will be if these interpretations of prophecy are correct. However, I do believe it is incredibly important for us to keep watch over and to make sure we're not allowing ourselves to rely too heavily on AI tools. I think right now AI is like anything else. There are very convenient tools that can help us in our jobs or day to day lives. But there's also great opportunity for misuse. We as human beings are created with a deep inner craving for something higher and more transcendent than ourselves. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity in their hearts. Except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 that craving is supposed to be fulfilled by God Himself, through salvation in Jesus and with the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. But when people reject Christ, they still have that craving, and they will still seek to fulfill it in other ways. One way that's exploding in popularity now is by having a type of relationship, even if it's just a friendship with AI. When you have something technological that can talk back to you, it's easy to fall in the habit of speaking to it as if it's a real person. Many people have already fallen for this and maintain all types of relationships with their AI bots. While there are plenty of people that see no issue with it, it's recently been shown having relationships with AI can have adverse effects on humans. Because of this, it's increasingly important for us Christians to remain vigilant in our word and spread the good news of Jesus Christ to this lost and darkened.
