Hello everyone. Mondo Gonzalez here in studio and we have our good friend Andrew where we're going to be talking about his new series that has just come out called the After Series. And some of you might have seen our previous conversation, but we want to give a little update of how it's all gone. So Andrew, welcome.
B
Thank you, thank you for having me back.
A
Yes. And for those, you know, I always, I don't want to assume anything. And for those that might not have seen our first program, who are you first of all? And talk a little bit about what you've done and the series because we want to, we want to get people to see what you've done here was pretty phenomenal. So kind of introduce yourself.
B
Sure. I'm Andrew Jacob Brown. I am a producer and actor. I've created six feature films and then moved on to shoot after, which is an eight episode television series, eight episode apocalyptic drama. So that is a series about a group of survivors that are struggling to survive the last days after meaning after the Rapture. So it's the tribulation period and these characters have real, real issues as they are left behind. They are, they are people that have real problems and are have to have to face these problems during the worst time in history. So, so that's what I do, that's what I've done. And this series is now out and released. And so I'm excited to tell you about that today.
A
Yeah, let's talk about that. Because I know before we had recorded in anticipation of it and then as always, there's a little bit of delays here and there. But where can people find this? And again, even I encourage you after you see this to share this. I mean we want to get the word out and so let us know. How can people find this?
B
Yes, most importantly. So I have three platforms that I'm using and I'll give you the fancy terminology here. Svod, T, VOD and avod. Those are just fancy terms. The AVOD mean is, it means ads. It's a stream platform with ads and then TBOT is transactional where you can buy it. And then your SBOT is a subscription base. So let me tell you about that real quick. Svod, the Rediscover tv. This is a new up and coming platform for family, family oriented films and series and live TV and stuff like that. And we got the series on there. They're very, very supportive. And it is a 6.99 with ads or a 9.99 without ad subscription. But you don't just get Access to after. You get about 4,000 plus titles. So some people can watch after and then move on and watch other things. And if you hate it, you can cancel your subscription. So that's one model that we got on. And then we have the TVOD model, which is Amazon. We got it on Amazon. Some people affect a lot of people, I'll say my circles, they really just want to buy it. They don't want to deal with ads. They don't want to deal with that stuff. So they buy to support and they get to watch the whole thing and binge it. So but what was really important to me was to get it on a AVOD channel, which is ads, so that people can watch it for free. That was something I promised my audience a long time ago is I wanted to give it to you guys for free because I want you to watch it, I want you to try it. Even for some of those people that may not, like Bible prophecy or the rapture of the church or stuff like that. So that is Tubi tv. We got it on Tubi tv. It's one of the biggest AVOD platforms in the world. I think they have something like a hundred million viewers a month. And that's a lot of people. So we were grateful to get it on there. And that was what the biggest delay was. Mondo was the Tubi tv. They didn't release it on the day we were gonna have it released. And so it's on there now. And I'm grateful and excited for everybody to go check it out. And I would say, go check it out there. You will be supporting us any way you do it. I will tell you that out the gate. But Tubi is a great way to go because the more people that watch it on Tubi for free, the more those analytics work and really help us, which is what we need to kind of impress some of the bigger dogs. Yeah, that makes sense.
A
No, no, that, that's awesome. And I really appreciate, you know, for having the, the various platforms as well as, you know, having the opportunity for, for seeing stuff free. I mean, I think about, you know, our, our YouTube channel. Same thing. I mean, it's. We do so much stuff and you know, 90, 99 of our stuff is, is free and it's out there and it's great. And you know, there are some things that we, you know, we do DVDs and stuff, but nevertheless, it's great to have it out there. And, you know, lately I've learned a lot over my years now here at Prophecy Watchers, in that being behind the scenes of programs and, and DVDs and even certain, you know, documentaries that, that, that I've worked on. And, and of course I've written a lot of papers, you know, in sense, in the academic world, in books. But you, but there's a similarity here. There's, there's things that you'll see. Where I'm going with this is that when you develop a film or anything, you can't have everything in there. It's very intentional. You include this character or this person because you want to tell a story. But beyond telling a story, there's the story that's behind the story. And I want to ask you about that because no doubt your life, how God has led you and guided you, how you got to know him shapes us. It shaped you. It also shapes how you think and how you're going to produce something as a director. And so let's get into, let's get into your life a little bit because I think that will be powerful for people to see what, how God has shaped you and then how God has guided. So when they do watch the film, they're getting a portrait of, of who the who, the director, the producer, etc. Who it is. So kind of give us, give us a little bit of your background here because know.
B
How did you come to know the Lord, man? I appreciate that. And that's the greatest question. And real quick, I want to. I remember something you asked me last time. You said something like, did you ever have any, like, spiritual battles or anything like that? And then I, I said kind of a generic yes, because all through this thing was a spiritual battle. It's almost like the Enemy didn't want it to come out. And then on May 27, when it was supposed to come out, bam. I had a kind of another spiritual battle. But yeah, I would love to share that. Let me share a little bit about me. So I didn't grow up without. Or I grew up without a father. I didn't have a dad growing up. In fact, I met my father on the phone, I think, when I was 28 years old. Yeah. So it was just me and my mom and my sister for most of my life. And we're very close, close family on my mom's side. And we, we only went to church on Christmas and Easter. So I like to call us the Creasers, because that's twice a year. You know, I made the decision when I was really young that. To believe in Jesus Christ, but I didn't know what that Meant I just thought it was something popular to do. You know, my mom believes in Jesus, my grandma believes in Jesus, I guess I do too. So yeah, go Jesus, right? But I was far from that, far from Jesus. As, especially as I got in my adult years, you know, I got into the party stage a little bit, the drinking stage a little bit and found myself going nowhere. You know, God shaped hole as they say. And my uncle, because I didn't have a father growing up, I was really close to my uncles. So I had one uncle who was kind of field and streams like to go fishing and then I had another uncle who was the sports uncle. So it was everything was football and basketball, anything sports. And that one, my uncle who was everything sports. We were really close and he found his life in a life of crime. We'll just say it that way to be nice. He had a three strikes, you're out. And he went to prison and he had a life sentence. And he was in the, he was in solitary confinement for nine years. And they decided that he would get out on parole. He somehow good behavior and he got out. And I, so I went. So let me give you the math on this. I was about 12 or 13 when he went in. When he came out, I was right around 22, somewhere in there. And when he came out, he was a different guy than when he went in. And you would think, well that's 10 years. I go, no, I know my uncle and there's something different. And he had read the Bible twice while he was in the solitary confinement. He read the entire Left behind series, a couple other pastors books and such. And when he came out, he was sharing this with me and I thought, wow, you know, this is incredible. But I didn't think about how it affect my life. And I lived that life where I was just going around fooling myself as if I was, you know, gonna die and go to heaven the next day. Because I just said two words, you know, I believe Jesus, you know, no action involved. And so what happened was he, he, he started to tell me about the Left behind books. And I thought, well, that's an interesting story, but I hated reading. Reading was something I just fall asleep to. Always been that way in school. And I think that's the creative in me. But he said, well, I got good news that they got some movies out. So the Kirk Cameron left behind year 2000 movie was out and I think the second one was out too at the time. And he goes, let's watch some movies together. And I thought, man, you got me a movie. So I'm not kidding you, I put that first movie on and when it was over, it just crushed me. Now this is something that, this is a rare testimony for people because not a lot, I don't know a lot of people that said, yeah, the end times, the rapture of the church or being left behind actually made me convert. I haven't heard any at least. But for me, I watched that movie and it scared me. I thought for the first time in my life, I'm scared that if the Lord came back, I wouldn't be taken, I wouldn't be saved. And I, I knew it. And, and I started to talk to my friends about it at, at work and they're, you know, I saw, talk to my basketball friends I hung out with and everybody, they were just like, oh, okay, yeah, let's watch the movie. I got them all to watch the movie and they're just like, what a great story. And I'm just like, man, does. Didn't that hit you? And it didn't hit him like, they hit me and I started to go down this road and I thought, man, this is, this is some cool stuff. I want to read the books. So I started reading the books and I just got obsessed with this concept that, man, I've been, I haven't, I didn't know any of this stuff, like what else is in the Bible, right? And I got a new King James version for free. And I just started reading, you know, stuff I didn't understand, of course. And I started going through the four Gospels and you know, lo and behold, I'll give you the Reader's Digest version, but my wife and I were both together and then split up two or three times. And we, we eventually both of us went to church one day after a blown out fight, blown out. And my mom offered me to go to church with her because she started going to a church that my uncle recommended. And so, you know, we went this one day after, you know, a drunken night and they did an altar call and we just looked at each other and that was it. Like we, we, this is, and everybody does it differently. But in this, this church we, we went up to the front and they prayed for us and we gave our life to Christ and we never looked back. So that's the common, that's kind of like it in a nutshell. But I want to say like the Bible prophecy, like I was very fortunate also by the way, to go to a verse by verse Bible church. And I, I can't Express. I can't express that enough because it's like 2% of the nation today does that. And I was very blessed by that. So being able to go there where it takes them 14 years to go all the way through the Bible, I got to really learn the Bible, not just Bible prophecy. And so. And by the way, when I say learn the Bible, nobody learns the Bible. It's like a lifetime degree. Right? For sure. You know, I really got into this Left behind stuff and. And I just became. I love eschatology, and I decided to take a look at all the views and do all that. And then, you know, I landed on where I land. But how that plays into my creative career, and I'll give it back over to you. But, but how it plays over my creative career is I, I just. When after reading the Left behind books, I wanted to do some writing. That's where I started writing. And this was about 2007, I started writing a novel. And then I may have shared on my last maybe podcast with you, but I'll just keep it short. Basically, I had to learn how to write. I had to read books and learn how to do it the right way. And then I got screenwriting. And that was where I was more. More gifted at as a different kind of writing. And that's kind of how I got into it. And so to go full circle, after six movies, I realized, okay, now I want to do what I'm really passionate about. Now that I have some skill in making film and in acting and doing the things that I've done, I want to take this and make it my ministry. And that's where after came about. And it all boils down to my uncle going to prison, getting out. That's my main testimony right there.
A
You know, I think that's what is awesome about it is. And you mentioned, you know, some of these books, and I remember the books, you know, in the, you know, late 90s, early 2000s, and, and even some of the movies. And, you know, I got saved at 18, you know, 1993. And so of course I watched all the movies and, you know, some of them were a little cheesy, but nevertheless, there's a framework there even, you know, thinking about, again, the Left behind movies themselves. And. But yet the fascinating thing about all of it to me is, you know, I tend to think in terms of like, what you described as, well, look at all the different viewpoints and, you know, because as we know, not, you know, even Kirk Cameron, you know, he is. He is very. He has Distanced himself from, you know, the left behind more of the, what we'd call the futuristic idea of that the Bible has a rapture and, and that's, you know, hey, still a brother in the Lord, God bless him.
B
Each to their own.
A
Yep, each to their own. And, but nevertheless, again in my own research too, you come to the point where you're like, look this, I read the Bible. If I take it in a very straightforward way, it leads, leads me to this conclusion that is really the best conclusion that we still have a lot of things coming that are real. And the other thing too that you mentioned, which is for me, when I became a Christian I was confronted with the gospel and it was this, here was the gospel. My cousin was like, you're going to hell. I go, what? What am I going to hell for? And he's like, well, you know, because of this. And you know, and I was like, what? I've never killed anybody. And so then, so I got confronted and then of course, yeah, I, I was a night and day difference. I, it, it changed my life. But then I thought, well, I got, all I have to do is go out and tell everybody they're going to hell and they're going to have the same transformative experience that I did. And that is not the case. Right. As we know. So but anyways, to me you mentioned some of the other films that you had done and you know, talk about that journey and, and you know, whether you want to share those films or not, but knows how did they, how did they guide you to come to certainly this, the after series?
B
Well, I'll say this as a creative and you know, basketball is my first love and martial arts and I did that for years. And one thing that they both taught me was commitment and dedication and hard work. And you especially martial arts, you can't, you can't skimp on that, you know, I mean you can't fake your way to the top on that. You have to go through certain, you know, disciplines is the best word for it. And so I kind of took a lot of what I've learned discipline wise and put it into my filmmaking. So, and I see that now, I probably didn't see that when I got started but, but I seen that the discipline of learning how to do something first and going through the hands on training and failing to get where you're at and that's what I did. It was not. So I started with the writing and I did that for nine years before I ever picked up a camera. And then the Digital age came into. Came into the, you know, scene, and you were able to buy a camera and shoot even if it was digital. And so that's how that started. And I thought, you know what? I'm going to shoot my own short film. So I did that. And then I thought, you know what? I might as well just make a full feature. And I hired all my buddies. I did what the Kendrick brothers did, and. And they made me believe if they can do it, I can do it. You know, so I did that. And I. In my first couple movies, actually, before even hiring people, I did that. And I didn't. I didn't. I didn't strain myself. I. I wrote roles around their personalities. You know, I didn't want to make them act because, you know, maybe that. Maybe that might have helped me a little bit, but I just got my feet wet and. And I'm. I'm kind of. I'm. I'm really driven, Mondo. That's the best way to say it. So I will watch videos, I will read books, I will study. I will. I'll take reconstructing criticism. I will do all those things to get better at something. And I will go through the protocol and say, okay, how can I do this next time? And I learned how to edit. That had made me valuable. I don't have to. And color, you know, that can color now. And. And it happened overnight. It took months and months of. Of wanting to do this on. On the side, you know, kind of like a garage startup business. Right. But that's the truth. Yeah. So I made Confound. Confound is the name of my first movie, and it is really low budget, and it is. The acting, you know, is probably not that great, but my daughter was the star in it at 12 years old because she knew martial arts, because I didn't. She worked with me. And. And so I thought I'd make a little Jason Bourne in the woods kind of movie.
A
Nice.
B
You know, what actually did okay. And you can only find it on Amazon if you want to buy or rent it, because I. I don't put it out to the world. Everybody's got to get those bad movies out. But I got that one in and then made a movie called COVID 19 Response. It was the first Covid movie ever made, believe it or not, because movies were. You couldn't make them during 2020, and the distribution was shut down. But I thought, you know what? I'm gonna be in my house and I'm gonna be working, so I might as well Just come home and shoot a movie in my house. And I did. So me and my daughter got to do that. And what was beautiful about that is spending time with my daughter. And that actually kind of launched my acting career because I realized I have something I was. I was half decent at. I'll say humbly. And so I did that.
A
And.
B
And I had to change the name of it, by the way, to my daughter Zoe. Because now when you see that title, nobody wants anything to do with COVID Yep. So I did a movie called Family First. I did a movie called Before It Happened, and that is the prequel to after. And I'll get back to that in a second. Then I did a movie called Piercing Wounds. And then I did a psychological thriller called within the Walls. And all my movies are clean. They don't have any profanity or sexual content in it. But the Before It Happened movie was a movie that I was kind of led to do my own eschatology movie. And I thought, you know, I'm gonna put. Make my own left behind movie. And so I did. And when I made that, it did really well on YouTube because that's how I had to get it out there at first, as I put it on YouTube. Pure Flix wanted it. And then they. They merged with another company and they had to back out of it. And I was. These are trials that I could share it another day. But you asked about spiritual battles. But you know what? It did really well. I think I got like, it's. It's got like 800,000 views right now, which is not bad. But it was like 300,000 in the first month, and it was killing it. And I'm like, man, the Lord's got some.
A
It's.
B
It's got something here, you know, and so I. That's where I came up the idea to expand on these two characters and make a television series. But I wasn't ready. I didn't have the refunds of resources, and nor was I in a position to do so. So I made a couple movies, and that's where Piercing Wounds and Within the Walls. Amen. But then after that, it, you know, I moved out to Alabama from Oregon. And so the opportunity presented itself and I was ready and I went for it. And so now this is what I'm doing full time on this.
A
You know, talk about the. It seems to be, you know, certainly with the new streaming services and everything else, that. What made you decide to make a TV series, you know, of episodes rather than just a full length film?
B
Okay. In short, I've always been a TV guy. To be honest with you, that's number one. I would watch TV shows. All I still do. I, I'll admit it, I love story. I'm just, it's, it's just the creative thing that I love and I love getting into characters and I think I naturally, writing wise, had a knack for that because you, you can expand on a character versus a 90 minute movie. You only got so much time. And then I realized the second thing is exactly that like, people want more character, they want to get attached and that's why there's binge watching that goes on today. People love to get attached to a show or a character and they get excited about it and they want more of it. And, and I thought, you know what, for something that you want more of, I would love for that to be a show that impacts people and impacts, you know, believers and non believers alike and to actually do something for the kingdom. So I love tv. I hope it stays that way. But I know that we're changing and there's, there's a lot of the things that we could talk about. But you know, the kids today, a younger generation of adults, watch stuff on their phones, they got vertical films and things are changing all the time. So TikTok, you know.
A
Yeah, absolutely. And what do you, so what do you envision in the sense of, you know, what's, what's next, what's coming next?
B
Well, what's coming next is I'm going to. Well, I am, I'm pushing this as much as I can in the marketing and I really, I really, I'll tell you, Mondo, I want to keep this going and, and we are going to keep it going. I already have an outline for two, three and four seasons. Two, three and four. I'm already writing season two, and that one's most likely guaranteed gonna happen already. I've talked to my, my financer and I think, I think we're gonna give that one a go for sure. But what is really needed here and if you're tuning in, this is super important, super important. First, let me just say, because there's always a misconception when you hear about people that make film, one of it is, oh, you must be making lots of money. We see you everywhere, you're on the news and you're doing all these things. You must be making lots of money. Couldn't be further from the truth. We actually don't make much money at all because of the model today, which I can't get into. It's just really hard to do what you could do back in the day. So we're not in it for the money. So you can get that out of the, out of your head. That's not it. So what we need is especially from the faith based industry because it's really, you guys are the backbone. Like that's really going to carry us by getting on and watching the series. I know that sounds so simple, but for free. Even building those analytics, telling your friends to watch it, getting more and more people to see it, that is really what's going to do it. Because you have to make a splash in the industry. You have to show them that you're worth something and then they'll get on board. It's just kind of the way it works. Chosen had to do that. Whether you're a fan or not of it. It's just recognizable. I could take it or leave it, but the show, the show had to do that. Everybody's had to do that. So. But what's on next? What's next on the horizon is exactly what I'm doing. I'm still acting. I still do auditions as an actor and, and do all that. But my heart is, is the after series. I would love to keep this going and, and maybe do so well at it that we actually get more funds and more, bigger productions behind it. Especially if you get later on in the tribulation period where there's some supernatural stuff that I just can't create. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah, no, that, yeah, the special effects,
B
I mean, whatever it is. Right?
A
Yeah, you read, you read the book of Revelation. There's certainly plenty of, of special amazing
B
things there, you know, wow, picture that.
A
So again, so where. So just to remind everybody, you know, where, where do they find, where do they find the after series again?
B
Yes, number one, Tubi TV for free. Get on there. Tubi TV will pop up and watch all eight episodes. And we get revenue and analytics on those ads and then Amazon, you can buy it, you can just straight out buy the season on there and watch it. And that also helps support us for sure. And then Rediscover TV is another, another way you can get a subscription and you can watch the series plus 4,000 titles. Stuff like Rudy and other movies that you may have heard of that are family oriented.
A
Well, I think that's the phenomenal thing is as we see today, just families. There's not a lot of safe things that are on either social media or television as we know. So this is a Great opportunity to go and to see a framework which again was super powerful in you coming to, you know, coming to know the Lord in a real way and to kind of change and pivot your life, which I think is great. And so, I mean, you know, for the sake of the audience, you know. Any final words for us?
B
Yeah, I am, thank you. I am a firm believer that we're living in the last days. I really do believe that. And so that's kind of my mission of what you guys are doing in Prophecy Watchers. I just happen to do it through media. Media is my ministry and it's, it's a tough one to support sometimes the churches. And I also want to say this, you know, to the audience. If you're not a pre trib rapture guy, that's okay. Mondo already said that earlier. You know, that's not the essential doctrines of the Christian faith and it's not what gets you to heaven and we're all brothers in Christ. But I would say this. The series is not about the rapture. I know people think that because I, you know, I've had clips where you see someone disappear or whatn. But the series is about the tribulation period and these characters that are going through that, that time of persecution to try to find their faith. And that's what it's really about. So whether you believe in a, a rapture or not, or when it happens, it's, it's totally irrelevant. Don't miss out on this blessing because we all believe in the, in the tribulation period. So I would encourage you to not just throw it out. It's definitely going to help people, which is, I think all the, all the people watching and listening believe in. Right. We want to help save souls. And so. But that's it. If you want extra credit, you can go to IMDb and give me a good review. If you watch the series, that's extra credit though. That'll, that'll counteract the ones and twos we get for people that hate faith based projects.
A
Oh, you know, in, in even that. I'm glad you mentioned that because. And let's bring it up again in the sense of, you know, besides watching the film, how else can people help? I mean, you know, support this kind of stuff.
B
Sure. And that, that's a big one right there. What I said, if you buy it on Amazon and you have to be able to buy it to, to review, but you can always review it on Amazon too. That's a huge help. Those reviews help because they Help people want to watch it when they see it. I, I know that's a huge part when I'm wanting to see some. Wanting to see something. You know, I, I look at the reviews, but especially on that the IMDb people are really unreasonable.
A
Wow.
B
Yeah, there's, there's people that either really love it or really hate it. You never get a, a good rating. So we, and it's not just me, it's a lot of faith based stuff. You know, God's not dead has a 4.6 out of 10 and that was a movie, that was a movie that kind of launched pure flicks. Yep. You know, just for an example. But that's one way we have a after series YouTube channel. We're constantly trying to build that. We're up to 120,000 subscribers. That's awesome. But you know, more the merrier because eventually I think maybe one day I'll, I'll have the series on there where people can watch for free as well. We're still building a community there. That's a great place. And I'm very active on Facebook. My personal Andrew Jacob Brown or after series, you can look at it and also have that find me on that page as well. But the biggest support is watch it Tubi tv, tell your friends or buy it on Amazon. Those are the big ones that you can really help, really help support. Awesome.
A
Absolutely. I mean, this is why, you know, when you and I have been talking for, you know, several months now, it's like, yeah, absolutely. You know, we, we know that we need good, we, we need good, pure stuff out there. And of course, stuff that is biblically, biblically central. And again, as we say all the time, you know, we're watching, we're watching. That's what we do here. We're prophecy watchers. And so anything to help people turn their eyes towards the Lord's return is what we're about. So. Well, Andrew Jacob Brown, thank you for coming on today. And again I encourage everybody to go to the site and to watch the after series, as Andrew mentioned. And so appreciate your prayers and support for what we do here as always. And you know, go watch, go watch the, go watch the series. That's what I recommend to you. So thanks for watching today and God bless you all and we'll see you next time.

Andrew Jacob Brown and the hosts highlight the role of biblically faithful media in reaching both believers and non-believers, particularly in the context of end-times prophecy.
