B
Here we are. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it.
A
So for the sake of our audience here, kind of give us an intro to who you are in a bio and stuff, as much as you're willing to share.
B
Oh, I'm just a lowly servant. No, no. Yeah. First of all, thank you for having me on. I really appreciate this. You know, it's funny and I'll, I'll be short on this, but I, I've been on a lot of different podcasts and stuff, but when it came to this one, I got a little nervous because end times, prophecy, eschatology, I mean, that's like a passion of mine. So I never thought I would be on something like this, so this is cool. So I just want to say thank you, Mondo, for having me on. I appreciate it.
A
Good to have you.
B
But. But I am a filmmaker. I'm an actor. I was a writer first. I'm kind of the Jack of all trades when it comes to the film industry. But I started writing in 07 and writing kind of turned into picking up a camera, making short films, and then making real films. And then getting into acting. And here I am 19 years later. I got a production company called Confound Productions, which, which is based off of First Corinthians 1:27, where God takes the weak and the foolish people of this world to confound the wise. And I thought, well, you know what? I'm not that bright. So if he can take a dummy like me and make anything cool, then we'll give him the credit for it. So that's why it's called Confound Productions. But that's what I do. And I've made six feature films and I've had some pretty good success there. They are available to watch on Amazon, Tubi tv, Roku, I think, Voodoo, Apple tv. So it's, you know, we did pretty well. We got them out there in the world. They're mostly faith based. I make faith based films, but even when they're a little less faith based, there is no, there's no bad language or, you know, sexual content or any kind. I like to make clean things. And so. But I am here today because I have a television series, eight episode series that we made called after. And it is about a group of survivors that or a group of fugitives that are trying to survive the last days. And they kind of congregate together and they have to deal with issues in their past. And it's basically a story about redemption and it's about persecution because I, again, as I mentioned in the beginning, I'm a very end times guy and there's a whole testimony behind that. But basically I really believe we're living in the last days. And so I wanted to take what I love to do and make a TV series out of it, you know, and, and, and, and, and kind of, how do I say it? Try to reach people today, you know, try to get the message out of like, oh, let me say this. I think it's, I think it's a series for believers and non believers alike. That's what's kind of cool about what we're doing here. For the believer, it should say, hey, you know, you know, this should be a reminder of like, wake up, you know, we have a duty to go out in all the world, preach the gospel, right? And no matter what we're doing in life and, and then for the non believer, we're hoping it, you know, that people find these characters very relative. And so anyways, that's me in a NutShell with the TV series. But that's, I can go on and on. Mondo.
A
Yeah, no, that's good. Well, what I want to do is. For the. For the audience here is we're gonna. We're gonna show you the trailer. So take a watch. If you ever need anything, you know, I'm just a phone call away.
B
Since when do you not like going off book? Since there's no purpose in what we do.
A
We just set a girl free, and
B
it wasn't because we wore a badge. Things are changing. Things are always changing, man. That's part of the job. You know that. What are you going to do, quit? Eli Jenkins, you have opposed the government
A
by harboring a fugitive. How do you believe? So long.
B
God help me. We're going to survive together. I think it's time we can get some things out in the open. I need to know what you did and who you're running from. If we're going to do God's work, we're going to have to pick our battles, because we're useless if we're dead. I'm afraid I don't have the answer, son. But the Lord does. Get your hands off here.
A
Yeah, get your hands off.
B
The only downfall of doing the right thing is we might lose our heads. Which is why I suggest we find another place to live. I'm trying to keep us alive, Rich.
A
Wait.
B
No. Time is running out.
A
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed the trailer and, you know, talk about that as well. Just the. You have this. This long series, Eight episodes, as you mentioned. How long are each episode?
B
They're about 42 minutes on the average, give or take. It's like a real television series. If you're a fan of the Chosen, I usually bring that up as an example because that was a big hit for a lot of people. They told a story of the first coming of Christ, and I felt like, well, I'm going to make a story of the second coming of Christ. So. But that's eight episodes, 42 minutes each, just like a real series. And, you know, I'm a kind of a TV guy, so I grew up watching a lot of tv.
A
That's what I was going to ask is in the sense of the. Is that what made you choose. Well, first. First before. I want to ask you that. But first, where do people find out? How do they. When is it coming out? How do people find out about it? Let's. Let's get that right out of the.
B
Okay, sure. Okay, well, let me. Let me just jump to the. The where. When it's coming out. So right now we have submitted it to Tubi tv. We want to Give it to our audience for free. So we have an After Series Facebook page and we have an after series YouTube channel and an Instagram. Our YouTube channel is probably the. The most active. We've reached 120,000 subscribers because. Not just because of the series, but. And it's called After Series, by the way, the channel. But that is a great way to help support us because we're really trying to build a community there, I guess, like any other creator would try to do. But if we could. If we could build that up enough, you know, we could give more content for free and not have to go through so many people, you know, but. But right now we got, you know, I. I like to put on news updates and Bible teachings. I have character breakdown videos. I even have a couple podcasts with me and some of the. Some of the cast called actors on After. Kind of a little play on words there of actors on actors. But that's the best way that we can really use your support on is. Is going to the channel, subscribing, following on social media, spreading the word. Because it's hard. You know, I'm actually glad you mentioned that, because in the beginning you said media, you said, I'm glad we have things like media, you know, like this. And I've had a hard time. It has been. And it's not just me. I think it's. It's hard for maybe the church to see media as a form of ministry. And, And I get it. I totally get just it, you know, but it is. It is a form of ministry. I'll just say that we've heard of the Kendrick Brothers, there's the Irwin Brothers. These are other guys that have made films that have been successful. But it's definitely a form of ministry. I mean, a lot of people watch tv. Our younger crowd has got their phones in their hands all the time. And why should we allow the Enemy to have a foothold? You know what I mean? Hey, the Enemy can have a field day and manipulate the people, but. But the Christians can't. Anyways, all that to say is, I appreciate you saying that because media is. Is a huge form of ministry, I think, and. And that's kind of what I'm trying to do, is raise awareness to the series and get people to watch it. We're not really in it for the money. If you know anything about the film industry, you don't really make money on it. I'll just say that right out the gate, it's all perception and all that stuff. So you'll Find that I'm probably one of the most honest guys in the industry. I'll just tell you how it is. But yeah, hope that was a lot to.
A
Yeah, no, it's good because you. Well, I imagine as well that, you know, people who are in ministry, their goal is to get the message out. You know, it's the gospel message. I mean, we know that that time is short and I mean, just logically, you know, we're closer today than we were yesterday to the Lord's return, you know, and I'm not a date setter, but we can obviously see that we are entering into the final stages of the end of the age. Just all we gotta do is look around. I mean, over the last, you know, really since 2020 and maybe a little before that, all the stuff with COVID and all the stuff happening even now, all the technology, all the stuff that we talk about all the time. And so, yeah, maybe give us, if you will, kind of the overall you did a little bit earlier, the, the after series. Why is it called that? What kind of give us a.
B
Maybe a. Yeah, thank you. I tend to forget things. So the After Series. Let me, let me give you that. You know, it stemmed from a feature film that I did called Before It Happened. And this was just a micro budget film that I did a couple years back. And I, I had a bunch of distributors looking at it and they, you know, they, they, they'd bite, but then they wouldn't follow through. I had pure flicks on the line and they followed. They. I think they merged or something and anyways, nobody would pick it up. And I thought, lord, I made this for you. What do you want me to do with it? So I, I surrendered it over. And that's usually when the magic happens. And so I met a guy named Rich Cristiano from the Cristiano Film Group. And they're kind of OGs in the Christian film days. They've made a lot of films. They made a movie. I'm gonna plug this one. You're gonna like this. It's called Unidentified. That's. It's a movie that was years, probably over 20 years ago, and you used to be able to buy it off the Jack Van Impe Show. But these guys are legends. And anyways, they took my film, they took this film on and they put it on their YouTube channel called Christian Movies. And it's. You can. They got a lot of free movies on there. And it blew up. It got like 700,000 views. And I think 300,000 was like in a month. Like it just. And I had all these great positive comments. 90% of them were positive. And I thought, oh my gosh, like we got something here. Like, this is, this is amazing. And it stemmed. I started thinking, you know, I was a big Left behind fan. I, I was. I know some people kind of cringe when they hear that sometimes, but I, I was, I had book series. I got a chance when I was writing. I got a chance to talk to Jerry Jenkins through email. And he kind of schooled me and, and taught me, said, go learn how to write, kid. Pretty much, but rightfully so. Anyways, this film gave me the idea, you know, I'll make a TV series based off these two characters. I play a detective, Detective Eli Jenkins. And Bobby Whitmore is a, is a rough around the edges partner. And the story of Before It Happened is, it's about my character who gets suspended and then he's called back in the office and says, hey, and his. I need you to go find my brother who used to be the partner of his and bring him back here. I need to reconcile with him because the police chief is the brother of the partner. And I'm like, there's no way I'm doing that. And, and he says, he says I'm dying. And I'm paraphrasing the whole so and so to come to find out that the chief is dying. And so my character feels reluctant to go find his old partner, had a fallen out with, and they go through a journey and they bring him back. And I don't want to spoil the ending, but the end times is in the backdrop of this whole thing. And then you get kind of surprised at the end with the cataclysmic event. And so it, it really shook people when they saw it because it was a movie about. You think I'm taking. I. You think you're going on a journey with these detectives and it's about one thing. And then the very end, you find out that nothing he was working hard for in his life mattered. And that was the idea. And now I wanted to go into the tribulation period with a TV series because it really has not been done. And I'm just going to be bold about that. The chosen did what they did. And I thought that was a cool idea, but I thought, you know what? Why can't we do this with the Left behind like series, but make it a drama. Don't, don't, don't go off on the, you know, on all, every detail of Revelation. Let's start with a drama. Let's get into these characters lives because. And so I started writing and I ended up making a couple films before that because I couldn't have, I couldn't raise the funds for the film, the series yet. But then I, I just started going for it and I raised money and, and that's a whole nother story. I'll save you time. But we were blessed to get this thing off the ground and I was blessed to get great actors. I mean you're talking up and comers. There's no names in it, including myself. No names. But, but we got great talent, great filmmaking, great storytelling. And I say this with a humble heart. And I thought, you know what? We got something here and we, and we could really get this thing going. Only as, as you know, Mondo, if you got the church behind you because truly you gotta have, you gotta have support to even make a season two. And some people that have kind of pre screened it are like, oh my gosh, there has to be a season two. And I'm like, well, there needs to be a season. That's kind of the nutshell how it became an idea and, and that kind of threads in with my passion for the end times because that's really been my love my whole life. I went full circle and I'll save you a long story because I, I know there's only so much time on a podcast, but I started my, my uncle went to prison, came out 10 years later. He was a different man. I wasn't walking a good life in my 20s. He started reading Left behind books when he was in prison. He came out, he turned me on to these books and I was like, I don't read. And so he goes, well, they made a movie, you guessed it, Kirk Cameron, of course. And so I said okay. But that movie, that movie, believe it or not, changed my life. It changed my life. It got me thinking inside, I'm not living a righteous life. I am not. I kept thinking I was saved, but I didn't know anything about that. I thought I did. And so in a nutshell, I started reading these books and I started getting into writing and then I started making film and I even wrote a novel. I did all this stuff over 20 years. And then I came full circle and I thought, if I'm going to continue this career, I want to do it with something that I'm passionate about in these last days. And that's why I'm going all in on the series. So that's where I'm At.
A
No, that. That's great. So, so, so basically, after is after the rapture.
B
Yes. Sorry, no, just.
A
Yeah, I know you're originally.
B
After that. It is after the Rapture. Yes. The rapture is something that is portrayed in. Before it happened.
A
Yeah.
B
And. Yeah. So it's everything. It's everything after. After that.
A
Well, that's good. I mean, to me, that's. In our world, you know, in the sense of, you know, talking about prophecy all the time. There's a lot of people who, you know, the Rapture is attacked quite a bit, and we do as much as we can to just defend the biblical narrative. And we. Obviously, we think it's biblical and others don't. And so what. But nevertheless, to me, if the Rapture. If the Rapture. Rapture. If we're raptured sometime later than before the tribulation, I'm not going to lose my faith. I'll figure it out.
B
Yeah.
A
And we'll. The Lord's faithful.
B
One of us have changed in our notes on the way up.
A
Right, right, exactly. I'm not, I'm not. I'm not worried. I'm not, you know, God's faithful.
B
So I listen, thank you for bringing that up, because I'm gonna be bold and say this. You know, that's another thing. I took a risk. Right? I mean, I'm taking a risk. I'm spending two years of my life on a project that I know is divisive, that I know the church, you know, they eat their own young when it comes to this thing.
A
Yeah.
B
And really shouldn't. I know, we really shouldn't be this way. We should respect each other when it comes to the end times, because it's the one thing that's a moving target. Right. Like everything, everything out of the doctrine doesn't change except for eschatology. Right. Our eyes are going to be open the closer we get to the time of the end. And, and, but, but we really. I knew going in, I was like, man, people are gonna. They're gonna hate me, you know, because. Because, you know, I'm gonna have some of the Christians going, yeah, I believe in the rapture of the church, but, you know, we're not there yet. You know, then you can have the other ones over here that. No, it's mid trib post trip and they get all upset, you know, or there's no. There's no Rapture and it's like, man, I'm going into the lion's den, but the Lord called me to do it and so came in boldly, brother.
A
You know, and that, that's really. And you know what you got to do. You got to do what God calls you to do. And, and you know what? Again, we. When I look at those who are maybe mid trib, pre wrath, whatever, post trip, they're my brothers in Christ. I love them, I'm gonna get along with them. I don't mind having discussions or even, you know, debates in the sense of, hey, we can talk about all the various views. I'm not scared of any of the views. You know, I land where I land because I think this is the, the most logical position. But if you don't, I'm not going to call you a heretic.
B
Yeah. We shouldn't get angry, right?
A
No, I'm not going to get angry. Absolutely not.
B
Mondo. I find this funny being, being a movie guy. And, and you know, I could go to, let's be honest, like, I'll ask the church. I'll ask people in my church and I'll be like, hey, you know, you know, what movie you gonna go watch? And they're like, they could say anything, you know, oh, how about this one? The project Hail Mary movie that just came out. It's a family friendly movie. I went and saw it. My wife, we had a good time, you know, but, but you know, some, some could say, well, it's an alien movie, you know, there's no aliens. And you know, you know, but it's, it's funny how the Christians and I'm gonna, or the, you know, believers, I'll say that they'll get on each other, they'll get angry about end time stuff, but, but they're not mad about ghosts, they're not mad about aliens. And I'm bad about Bigfoot, you know, they'll go watch a Bigfoot movie. It's fun, you know, whatever. It's like, come on, guys, like, what are we doing here? Reading our own young.
A
Yep, it's, it's. That's the. Yeah. And I really feel like, you know, my, my heart and even, you know, Gary's as well, has always been, you know, loving, cordial. Hey, you know, I have as my tagline on my email John 13:35, they will know you're my disciples by your love for one another. How profound is that?
B
Yeah.
A
So, you know, in these issues, you know, we affirm Jesus Christ himself is Lord and Savior and he's the only way. Okay, we got that right. I think the rest of the other, you know, secondary doctrines are important doctrines, but I think all of us are going to grow in our understanding of what those. Nobody has perfect theology. So. And if, if I, if I knew what, what was imperfect, then why would change it? That's pretty logical.
B
Yeah.
A
So I know on this, the. What you've done films before. So what, what kind of led you to do a longer TV series? Just the length of the story you want to tell or what kind of led to that rather than just the movie?
B
There's multiple reasons. The movie did lead to that idea and I've always been a TV guy, but there's something about character. People love to follow characters and fall in love with them and they want more of it. And so I felt like, man, this could really have an impact on people if they get attached to some characters. I always bring up the chosen. So let's bring it up again. Like you watch those and you even know who they are because you read about them in the Bible. But you know, it's written in a different way that Dallas Jenkins wrote it. And so you get to see these characters and you know, experience different, you know, they. Matthew being autistic or whatever, but you fall in love with these characters. And I. There's some, it's kind of the way we are today as far as stories go. And then you got, then you do got a different. There's a generation. Yes. Disconnect. Were my daughter, Scratch that. My daughter's one of us and she just turned 20 today. But the younger crowd, let's just say the younger crowd, they don't have an attention span. They're so used to scrolling all day long with stuff that's being fed. But, but the TV route. I always liked TV series. I fall, I fell in love. And, and that's one thing that, that I try to think about, you know, when it comes to being a creative. What do other people like? You know, I liked, I like TV series. I get attached. I can get lost in the story. And I'm like, you know what, what greater would that be if you had a faith based story like this in the times that we live in to get people attached, you know, and so that's kind of my main reason for it. But it, you know, it just kind of stemmed all together from the idea before it happened.
A
Yeah, that's, that's really, that's really good because I think it's, I think it's absolutely correct. I mean, again, all my daughters are in their mid-20s and just thinking about ministry. I've been a youth pastor, you know, for a long time. And you just start thinking, how do you, how do you reach people? And I think, no doubt the, the, you know, the gospel is the same, but some of the methods that God uses throughout, you know, things can change. Well, I'm not talking about in the church in the sense of like Sunday morning. That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about in the greater, the greater ministries that God does all kinds of things. He uses all kinds of, to get people interested. And of course, you know, here at Prophecy Watchers, we talk about a lot of very sometimes fringe topics, you know, conspiracy topics. I love all those things. But at the end of the day, you know what, I'm a Bible teacher, but, you know, so, but these other topics I find are, are very fascinating. I find them fascinating. And it's, you know, I'm not dogmatic on, on any of those, but I find it, hey, what does the Bible say? Because, you know, for me as a, as a pastor teacher, the goal was always to the, the Bible. I look at the world through the Bible lens. So we need to have a biblical worldview and that, that includes all of these other topics. But yes. So again, where, where do people get more information? Specifically, if they wanted the fastest way to find you, where would they go?
B
Okay, so I am very responsive. So if you. I'm on Facebook, Andrew Jacob Brown on Facebook. I'm also on Instagram Andrew Jacob Brown and also my email, Confound Productions, yahoo.com you can easily find me there as well. And I'm very responsive and I always get back to people and then you.
A
And like you said, you have, have the YouTube channel. So people search after series. Is that. What if they were going to YouTube, what would they search?
B
Type in after series channel. That seems to bring it up.
A
That's really great.
B
After series channel, you'll find more of those videos or something.
A
That's. That's awesome. Of course, you know, we, we showed the trailer, but if people wanted to go and see it or share it, they can get it there. You know, as I, one of the questions I like to ask is, you know, so you've been working on this for a while. What, you know, can you share any. Was there any spiritual warfare going on?
B
Oh, yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
A
What were the, some of the challenges that that came?
B
Oh, you mean during the making of it?
A
During the making. Yeah.
B
Well, you know, I wouldn't say yes, but I have, I have an interesting approach on it because I've gotten to the point where I, I see kind of what The Lord's doing and I let him do it. I know that sounds weird, but like we've had it. We, we went through a quite the journey getting the right people for the roles. He weeded the right, got the right ones and he weeded the wrong ones out and, and that's a nicer way of saying it. You know, same thing with locations and where we would film. We almost shot this in Tennessee. We shot it. We shot most of it in Alabama, like Huntsville and Danville and Decatur. And I think we shot in Pulaski, Tennessee, but we were going to shoot the whole thing in Tennessee. But there was plenty of moments where the Lord like changed, changed routes. Like he'd shut the door on a location that I thought I was going to get and had everything planned for people I was dealing with. He shut the door on that because I'll just say we weren't like minded. Like he was very in this thing and it was a spiritual warfare and I think he was just doing what God does best. Like he was taking care of us and he took ownership of this thing. Like, no, you're going to do it. You're going to do it right and I'm going to lead the way. And you know, I, I didn't. There was some low moments. I, I did have some low moments. I did get burned a couple times, some partnerships and, and it kind of hurt. Kind of sounded pretty bad. Yeah. But you know, God lifted me up so it's going to be okay and just keep going. And we did and here we are. But I would say absolutely. And I think that any faith based Christian filmmaker will all say the same thing. Yep, they're all gonna.
A
That's kind of what I was asking. You know, not so much. I'm not looking for dirt or anything, but just a sense of. There's challenges when you're following God. The enemy doesn't like it. Especially for something as impactful as, you know, as, as this, you know, praying it would be and filmmaking and media and in general, is there just for clarity, is there a. You have, is there a like a after series website or in the sense of.
B
No. Okay.
A
Social media. Yeah, on social media.
B
Good website yet.
A
Okay, that's fine.
B
Facebook, Instagram are the best because I, I'm very active there and I'm. You're gonna know it. So when that trailer, when that, when that thing drops, the trailers, we're gonna
A
put it out because there's a lot
B
of stuff I'm posting already on there, even including being on this Podcast, which is such a. Such a blessing. Yeah. We're constantly updating the blessings of. After. We're up for some awards right now for nice major film festivals and the International Christian Film Festival. We're going to that in the. In May, so. But, you know, but yes, please follow on. On Facebook. Join us, man. We'd love to have your support. Absolutely. Yeah.
A
Awesome. This is. This is great. Glad to encourage it. Any. Any final words for us, man?
B
Yeah. I want to say what you do, man, and I mean that like prophecy watchers, Mondo, you are doing what the Bible calls us to do. And I'm, I'm saying this out loud, like, if you're all listening, you know, in Matthew, Jesus gave us a nice little command there, said, don't be like the wicked servant we are to watch and be ready. I think that's verse 42 through 44. Like, that is our job as a Christian. And, you know, I. I think that in these last days, I would say in Even the last 20 years, people have kind of prophecy. Prophecy small. See, they don't want to talk about it. But you know what one fourth of the book is prophecy. Yeah. 28 or something like that. And it's like, you know, Jesus spent more time in the four Gospels on that subject of his second coming and, you know, than any other topic, really. That's. I think it's important.
