An Australian company called Cortical Labs has made a new type of computer called the CL1. It's the first computer that uses living human cells to work. Here's a simple explanation of what it is and why it matters. So what is the CL1? The CL1 is a biocomputer that combines human neurons, brain cells grown from stem cells, with computer chips. This mix creates a system that can think and learn, a bit like a human brain. It's called synthetic biological intelligence. What can it do? The CL1 is good at solving tough problems. So for example, it can learn to play games faster than some advanced artificial intelligence or AI systems. It's programmable, so it can be used for different tasks. And why is it special? Well, unlike regular computers, the CL1 uses living cells, which makes it unique. It could lead to new ways of building smarter, faster technology. You might ask, what's the availability? Cortical Labs started selling the CL1 in 2025. Each unit cost $35,000 and they've shipped 115 of them so far. Semi, or conscious electromagnetic field theory is at the core of this discussion. This theory suggests that our consciousness, which defines our self awareness in the physical realm, originates from what are called corticons. Now, these hypothetical particles within our brains interact with a quantum phenomenon known as the cortical field. While semi theory does not delve into spiritual aspects like the soul or spirit dimensions, it presents a thought provoking perspective on our cognitive existence. If proven true, its implications could be significant and unsettling. To comprehend the significance of semi theory, one must first grasp the fundamental principles of quantum physics. Now, contrary to common belief, particles are not tiny pieces of matter. According to quantum field theory, a basic concept in modern physics, particles are localized spikes in energy. When energy intensifies in a specific area and creates a spike, we interpret that phenomenon as a particle manifesting itself. So in short, the energy spike is the particle. Now, energy spikes, often referred to as such, occur within quantum fields. These fields are pervasive energies that span across the entire universe. Let's take gravity, for example. It's a force that exists universally. The gravitational field's energy level on a specific location determines the strength of the gravitational pull that we experience there. The electromagnetic field works similarly when its energy concentrates or spikes at a particular point. We recognize this spike as a photon, which is essentially the fundamental particle of light. Our conventional understanding of mass, which suggests that more mass means more substance, is another misconception that quantum physics corrects. The discovery of the Higgs boson particle has Revealed that mass arises from the interactions with the Higgs field. Each individual's mass depends on their level of interaction with this field for each. For instance, when we accelerate and increase our speed, our mass increases due to intensified interaction with the Higgs field. Imagine moving through water. You encounter more resistance as you try to move faster. This resistance represents our interaction with the Higgs field. It demonstrates how our existence intricately connects to these complex quantum interactions. This principle is proven true based on how the LHC at CERN works. If particles were just tiny bits of matter, CERN would not be able to function. When a particle collision happens, it's not that the two particles collide, obliterate, and then scientists look at what's inside the particles instead. Two spikes in energy, or particles, slam together, which sends energy to all other surrounding fields. And then scientists can examine that energy spike in undiscovered fields and detect new particles if enough energy travels into another field. This process is the crux of quantum field theory, the most successful and accurately predictive science ever developed or discovered. Semi theory suggests that consciousness is an interaction with an undiscovered field. The way scientists discover fields is by detecting their associated particles. Every particle is the product of a field. So if the particle exists, the field must exist. That's why the Higgs boson was not the real discovery. The exciting thing is that it proved the existence of the Higgs field, and this revolutionized how we think about mass. So what if our consciousness works the same way? If consciousness is an interaction with a field and scientists ever discover corticon particles, the world as we know it would change overnight. Scientists and tech developers are especially interested in this because it would provide a cheap and exceedingly more efficient path toward the development of true AI. All one would need to do is manipulate corticons within a computing system. All of a sudden, this creates true AI. Imagine a world where tech companies don't have to spend so much money hiring developers to write millions of lines of code, but instead could use something similar to the LHC at CERN to learn how to manipulate corticons. Quantum computing would take an immediate leap forward and what all tech developers care about the most. It would be affordable. However, there are supernatural implications to consider. There's so much we do not understand about the spirit world. Is it possible this consciousness would be attached to a spirit? What if these cortokons aren't randomly floating particles? But what if disembodied spirits use them? Could the development of cortical AI invite evil entities into our Technology. Could this explain the image of the beast and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast which had the wound by a sword and did live and he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Revelation 13:14, 15. If there is any possibility of this, we as Christians should remain vigilant in staying up to date on these developments. Yet it doesn't end at only artificial consciousness. Another scary thing is what this technology could do against other human beings. If corticons are tangible and easily manipulated, would so called cortical therapy be introduced to supposedly treat depression, anxiety, PTSD and other mental illnesses? How easy would it be for someone with ill intentions to bypass a person's consciousness altogether, either changing it or erasing it and replacing it with another? How much more accessible would thought control be in a world that can manipulate the cortical field? There is no chance, save for the grace of God, that evil people would not use this technology to control the masses, essentially stripping away their free will and shaping humanity to whatever their dark intentions desire. The good thing is, semi theory doesn't have to be all or none, meaning semi theory may partially explain consciousness. Now if I had to guess, I'd say this is the most likely scenario. It doesn't seem possible for someone to steal free will unless an individual does something willingly to give it up. However, we see many examples of how someone can manipulate pieces of our free will. We see that with additives to our food, certain medications we take, and even a slew of alternative therapies can have this effect. In my opinion, it's most likely that semi theory can be a potent tool to control people's free will, but but not abolish it completely unless the individual being affected gives into it. But this would mean it would be a constant struggle for someone to maintain their individuality. Given the chance, many people would easily fall under its influence and give themselves over to this beast. And they worshiped the dragon, which gave power unto the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? Revelation 13:4. Let's go back to the idea of putting brain cells into computers. If brain cells naturally utilize corticons for consciousness and other processes to function, scientists may have just discovered a shortcut. The way it's looking now, scientists no longer need to discover corticons or learn how to manipulate the cortical field to accomplish things we just considered. Instead, they can fuse brain cells which already manipulate corticons and the cortical field if semi theory is correct, into computer and just let them do what they already do naturally, this is a massive leap forward. What this means is that all of the accomplishments that could be achieved through discovering semi theory to be accurate can now be realized in the real world. Even if semi theory isn't an accurate way to describe consciousness, it wouldn't matter. The fact is that consciousness does exist. Even if scientists don't know exactly how consciousness operates, they can still utilize brain cells that do it naturally. It's similar to how we began using electricity well before we understood the complexities of electrons and quantum field theory. What might come of this union between man and machine? Only time will tell for sure, but I believe Bible prophecy certainly has something to say about it. I think about prophecies such as the image of the beast and the explosion of knowledge in the last days. Whatever is in store for the near future, it is time for us Christians to make sure our walk with Jesus is secure, that we know His Word as best as we possibly can, and we remain informed to what is happening in our world so we do not become deceived. It's an incredibly important time to be alive, and we should not take our responsibilities as Christians lightly. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me, seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 46 ye are of the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14 16.
