This is the Pursuit of Wellness podcast and I'm your host, Mari Llewellyn. What is up guys? Welcome back to a solo episode. My favorite type of episode to record lately. We have a community Q A. You guys always ask me the craziest questions, so I can't wait to see what you asked me today. I haven't even looked. So as always, organic food, first impression answer for me. And I really appreciate all the support in 2025. I know you guys have been following along really closely with my fertility journey, my IVF journey. As always, I've been very transparent, if anything too transparent about everything I've been going through and I really appreciate the support. Just a lot going on in my life right now and we have a lot to discuss, so I can't wait to see what these questions are. Also, before I hop in, couple reminders. Number one is to follow and subscribe to the show. Whether you're listening On Apple, Spotify, YouTube, hit the subscribe button. I'm posting multiple times a week. Amazing advice for 2025. Amazing interviews, really great discussions. So make sure you do that. Secondly, if you haven't tried the new Bloom energy drink flavor, Juicy Orange, highly recommend you do that. It is my new favorite. I'm obsessed. It's getting me through my workouts right now and I think that's it in terms of admin. So without further ado, let's answer some questions. Can you give me a more in depth workout routine? Slash split? Okay, so I recently got back into working out after not working out for about three weeks because of IVF. So I was basically walking 10,000 steps a day during IVF until my egg retrieval which put me out for a Now I'm back. Currently I'm weightlifting about 30 to 40 minutes three times a week, focusing on lower body, upper body, lower body, and then I'm doing Pilates one to two times a week, which I feel is a very core focused workout, which I love. Squeezing those in and then every day my goal is to get close to 10,000 steps. It is freezing cold in Austin, Texas right now and I'm having a really hard time going outside. I'm doing my best, so walking, Pilates, weightlifting, just focusing on getting a lot of protein in. What is your go to nail shape and color? I actually don't even know. I think these are almond shape. I'm not sure. And I switch up the color. I kind of go between like color nude, color nude. Right now they're this dark red, but I did dark green before. And I really liked it. And I think I'm going to do navy next. Small steps to start eating cleaner, please. I feel like my biggest advice for people is to just stop eating out as much. I don't know. I've just noticed that when you eat out you never fully know what they're putting in the food. They could be using seed oils or tons of an inflammatory ingredient that you're not aware of. I think when you cook at home you can get away with so much more. Like if you love a burger and fries, that's so fine, maybe make it at home. You can use grass fed meat, you can use a high quality bun, you can use a good cheese, you can make your own fries and really have fun with it. I feel like when you eat at home it eliminates a lot of the BS that they're putting in food. I mean even sugar, like they load up salad dressings with sugar. Like you just never really know. So I would just start with cooking at home and then from there you'll learn more and more about nutrition and it can be fun. It can be really enjoyable. I love cooking at home. I mean I just had a quiche for lunch. Like how fun. Current hyper fixation snacks or lunch. Okay. I mean I've been hyper fixated on these raw bars for years at this point. I think I've told you guys about them. They're protein bars. The brand is R A W R Tiny brand Family run. It takes like a couple weeks for the bars to arrive. They have to be refrigerated. The raw bars have a lot of protein in one bar. I think it's like 20 grams. They're a little high calorie, but for me I don't really care as long as the ingredients are good and they're so yummy. I bring them everywhere. I eat them every day. Hyper fixation 100%. Have they ever sent me any or paid me to say that? No, I just love them. Are you considering a home birth? No. I mean that sounds like lovely in theory, but like I've just heard too many horror stories I feel at this point. But we'll see. I would love to actually get a doula on the show to talk about that or a pregnancy expert because I have questions. How to increase your hrv? Mine is super low. I do think there's a big element of HRV that is genetic. I think there's a lot that we can't control, however good sleep. My HRV is the highest. When I was saunaing and cold plunging. But I haven't been doing that as regularly now in my fertility journey, using like blue light blocking glasses, winding down before bed, and probably like eliminating caffeine by 1pm I would say. Has your faith shifted? I see you have been streaming church services. I actually just discussed this with a guest in a previous episode about church and I don't know if I've spoken about it yet, but I'm not approaching it from this angle of like I believe in this. I'm doing it because of this. It's really just to be honest, going through IVF has been really mentally challenging and I'm at the point where we're like waiting for news, waiting for phone calls and I'm someone who can really easily spiral in. The anticipation of waiting and just the anxiety of it all and just needing a community and a positive uplifting environment and a space to kind of meditate and pray has been super, super helpful for me. I went for the first time on Christmas Eve and I have gone every single Sunday since and it's been a really helpful tool for me. So no matter what you believe in, whatever, that's not even what I'm talking about. I wouldn't even consider myself a religious person. It's just something that has been a really helpful tool for me, honestly. And I plan on continuing going because I think during this I just need that support.

Who is your best friend? I mean, I mean it's an interesting question. I feel like I have a couple best friends now which I never had before. Like this is my first time really having friends. I've had friends before in college but like during my time in LA and building Bloom, I really didn't make time for that. So I feel like I have a couple but at the end of the day I feel like it's always going to be Greg, to be honest with you. Best areas to live in Austin for someone in their mid-20s, it's a great question. I don't know the names of all of them but I really like Barton Creek Zilke. People like the east side, it's a bit more trendy and like coffee shops, restaurants, vibes. I wouldn't say I belong there, but some people do. Clarksville, which is near me. Super cute, walkable and Mueller apparently. So check those out. Can you share your sourdough recipe and process? I use the Ballerina Farms, my queen her recipe. If you go on YouTube and type in Ballerina Farm Sourdough from two years ago, I just continue using that recipe. It's a two day process. You have your starter, you add the flour. I mean I could talk through the whole thing but it's really boring. But it is amazing. I get two loaves out of it every time. I generally I gift part of it to someone cuz I just like want them to try my bread. But usually I eat one of them fresh and then slice the other one and freeze it. And honestly from frozen I was kind of skeptical. But it is amazing. If you freeze it fresh, it comes out so good when you put it in the toaster. So that's my method. How do you structure your week between podcasts and Bloom responsibilities? Great question. Okay, so I'm in a weird time right now because I'm doing ivf. I feel like I've definitely taken a step back from everything and I'm just now getting back into things with Bloom. My husband Greg is the CEO. I am still involved from a creative standpoint. I'm very invested in like our packaging, the way we present to the world, formulation, things like that. So I'm on meetings every week called the Weekly Brand Call where we're discussing those things and everything is approved by me in terms of visuals. But I've definitely taken a bit of a step back to focus on the podcast because I do believe my best asset and value is sharing and connecting with my community no matter what I'm going through. And this is my true passion. So I feel very happy with my shift in focus. And um, yeah, it's been interesting. It's definitely a transition for me because I was, you know, everything Bloom. My whole life was Bloom for, I don't know, four or five years. And now I'm kind of shifting that. So it's been interesting. But obviously still my, you know, my household is very Bloom coated. My husband lives and breathes it clean. Household product brands, dish soap, cleaners, et cetera. As I've told you guys, I only use branch basics. My cleaner only uses branch basics. It's the only product that I will use in terms of cleaning. Do you ever use a microwave? Yeah, I do. I don't know if that surprises people, if people think I'm like anti microwave but I use a microwave every day. Greg doesn't. Greg is sus of the microwave. Greg is like weird about certain things and not other things. So like really weird with water quality and microwaves and like me eating his food like germs. And I'm not weird about that stuff. Like yes, I'm picky with the products I use but sometimes when it comes to convenience, like I'm an use a microwave. Do you ever see yourself living abroad? Not really. I mean, I guess I grew up abroad and had that experience. I would not live in the UK again. I don't think it's like the right culture for me. I could see myself doing a month or two in like France. France is probably where I would choose. But it's not a deep desire I have. I feel like I not to get too deep with it but like moving to America was a very big culture shift for me and kind of a shock. But I feel like I ended up sort of having this like American dream experience where I, you know, obviously I had my really rough period but then I managed to work myself out of it and I really feel like America, anything is possible and entrepreneurship is really encouraged, which I like. So I really like being here. However, I like the way they eat in Europe and I like the healthcare system and there's a lot of things I really like about it there. Should I eat breakfast in the morning? I don't think that there's a clear yes or no answer to that. I think it depends. I think as long as you are getting your nutrition in at some point, if skipping breakfast deters the rest of your day, messes up your other meals, makes you feel a certain way, don't skip it. I personally wake up hungry. Like I need to eat within the first couple hours of waking up. If not, don't do it. I think everyone's routine is different. Whatever's sustainable for you, make it work, you know, Benefits from going dairy free actually, I guess this is an update for you guys. I've been reintroducing dairy and I haven't broken out from it. I've been drinking whole milk every now and again. I have like cheese every now and again, like Comte cheese. So yeah, I've reincorporated it without a problem. I actually always. It was a goal of mine to be able to reincorporate dairy, because I think there's some amazing benefits from real dairy.
Greg Llewellyn
Sure.
Mari Llewellyn
I think going dairy free could maybe help people with acne or gut issues temporarily. But I feel like there's a lot of benefit to real dairy. So I am a dairy girl now, I guess. Okay, this was a highly asked question. Next step for ivf. Did you test the embryos? Next step is we're kind of in this waiting period because we do have frozen embryos. Officially, I'm not going to say the number of them because I think it might be dangerous territory if I say the number because people might compare or, like, count down the amount that I have. I just think that might be too private. But we successfully have embryos on ice. They have top grades, which is so exciting. I think that's something I didn't understand before going into it, is how important the grading system is. Almost more than the quantity. It's about the quality. The grading system we have is good, good, good, fair, and fair, fair. And the majority of our embryos are good, good, top grade. And I think we have one that's middle grade, so that's really, really promising. I got that call a few days ago and I was really, really. I mean, at first I was like, is that good? Should I be happy? I'm so nervous about getting too excited. But it sounds like it's a promising number. Now they will go into genetic testing, and that's like, when they find out the gender or if there's any problems or anything like that. I have chosen to not know the gender because I want to have the experience of having a gender reveal and being surprised. But, yeah, it's a bit of a waiting game at this point, which is challenging. But I have really good feelings about it.
Greg Llewellyn
Positive thoughts.
Mari Llewellyn
And I also don't want to share when the embryo transfer will be because, well, number one, I don't really know right now. I think I know roughly. But also, I don't want to feel pressure on a timeline or if people are aware of it. They're waiting to see if it worked or not. I just don't want to do that to myself. So I hope that answered the question with enough detail. Skincare before or after working out? Generally, I'm doing it after. Unless it's Pilates and I'm not sweating, then maybe I would do it before. So it really just depends on if I'm sweating or not. Does Fiona still live in Austin? How is she doing? Fi is doing great. I just saw her a couple days ago for breakfast. She's coming on the show very soon, and we will get a full. I don't want to ruin it because she has so many updates, guys. Like, it's going to be a great episode. She does still live in Austin. We'll catch up with her and we'll ask her all the questions. What natural deodorant brands would you recommend? I actually don't wear deodorant right now, to be honest with you guys, and I find that I only smell if I eat bad. So if I eat bad or drink alcohol, that's when I'm smelling. So I've just decided that I don't wear it at this point. Maybe I smell. I mean, everyone in my life probably. No. Okay. Everyone's saying no, so I think we're good. Do you have your horses on your property or do you board them? Why? Um. So, no, I don't live in an area where you could really have horses on your property. I think it's like a rule in my town that the you. You cannot have an animal over, like £200 or something. I. I have looked into it. I bought my horse near LAKE Travis, like 30 minutes away. Of course, it's a dream of mine to one day have horses on my property. I would just freak out to have them right outside my door. That is my dream. But for now, he's close by, easy for me to get to, and it's been working for me. So no horses on property yet, but stay tuned. As of right now, I have chickens. When I was on the couch during IVF and I was bored, I was in the middle of doing a donkey deal. I found these two donkeys in Weatherford, Texas, that I was obsessed with, and they were mini donkeys and they were so cute. But the mat, the boy donkey wasn't. What do you call it? Neutered, gelded, whatever. So I was like, that seems. That seems dangerous. So I backed out of my donkey deal. But just know I am interested, but I feel like I should maybe have a baby first. Have you ever had any plastic surgery? No, but I have done Botox and filler. I've talked about that before. I appreciate all the embryo questions. I feel like I answered it the best. I could really appreciate your guys's investment in it. I feel like if I say how many I got, people are going to feel bad or make comments. And I just want to feel good about it for right now. So I'm just going to leave it how I did alcohol. Did you drink while losing weight and or now. So on My actual weight loss journey, I probably had like a glass of wine once a week. I will say that during my college years, like those really rough periods of time that I've spoken about, I definitely abused alcohol. Like, blacking out was like a very regular thing for me and it was something that I used as an escape. I don't think I've ever had a full blown alcohol. I mean, I. I would say that I did have an alcohol problem. I wasn't an alcoholic necessarily because I could give it up quite easily. So I definitely didn't drink a lot on my weight loss journey. Now, just to be honest, since moving to Austin, I feel like I have way more social engagements happening and I find myself drinking far more frequently than I ever have. So that's been interesting. But I never have more than like, if I have two drinks in a night, that's a crazy night for me. Like, I'm usually having one and I'm okay. But it definitely is a big factor, I would say, in a weight loss journey. Like, if you're going to eliminate anything, it should probably be that, like, general rule of thumb, you don't want to be consuming your calories in a drink. So, like, get rid of the frappuccinos, get rid of the alcohol. You know, focus on that. I'd rather you get calories in through your food.

How's the bit of land coming along at the back of your house? It's so cute, guys. So we have turned it into a park. So we basically laid grass down and we have a little trail going through it. And I put the chicken coop back there, the chickens. So we have a gate between my yard and the backyard. And now the chickens can roam all day without getting attacked by my dogs, which is really nice. And they seem really happy. They lay way more eggs and the eggs are super orange. So I think they are vibing back there. They're out all day, which does scare me. I am so worried about a hawk coming and taking pickle off the ground like that would just kill me. But we do have these bamboo bushes back there that they hide in, so I feel like they have a good system. The dogs Love the backyard. We actually have a sign that I got for Greg that says Lulu's park, which is kind of cute, because Lulu. I think I've said this before, but Lulu is. She's a sweet baby. Angel, loves everyone, but just doesn't love other dogs. It's not that she's aggressive, but, like, if another dog comes at her, she will come back harder, my girl. So we basically built a park for Lulu in her reactiveness, so she can be out there and just vibe by herself. So she loves it. What happened to your old horse? I've answered this a few times in other episodes, but I feel like I keep seeing the question. Nothing happened. I guess something kind of did happen. But I was riding English before, and I had a horse named Beau, a beautiful paint horse. He completely changed my life. The horse that got me into riding, like, obsessed with him. However, by the end of my journey, when I was trying to get pregnant and all this, I was. You know, he's a jumping horse. He's a hunter. I just felt like me jumping just wasn't fitting with what I wanted in my life. Like, why am I flying through the air on a horse? Like, really, is this necessary? I probably would have just as much fun on the ground, and I was already falling in love with Western. So by the end, him and I. And apparently this happens, like, every time I would get on him, he would kick out, kick the fence, take off, buck. The relationship just wasn't working. And it was getting to the point where every time I would ride, I'd end up in tears because I was scared or, like, frustrated. And then a little girl got on him one day, and he was perfect. So what the trainer said to me is, I feel like Beau just wants to ride with little kids. And that kind of made sense to me because his whole life before me was with little kids. So ultimately, I made the decision to sell him to the head trainer at the barn, Kelly, who's amazing. And it was honestly one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. I was so devastated, but I wasn't making him happy. Also, I think what's confusing for people who aren't in the horse world is, like, they're not pets. They are. Yes, in some ways they are pets, but they're also athletes, especially that type of horse that Bo is. So he's much happier now. I'm so happy for him. I think his name's Henry now, but I still call him Beau. And I got myself an American quarter horse, Red, who I've fallen in Love with. And it's just a much better fit for me. It's much more casual. We trail ride, we western ride, we open gates together. We do like ranch style riding. And I'm just in love with him. And he's the most gentle, soft, healing horse ever. So I've actually never fallen off red. I don't want to jinx myself, but yeah, that's been my horse journey. Where did you and Greg honeymoon? Greg and I didn't go on a honeymoon, guys. Like, I literally want to redo. I told Craig this the other day. Okay. No, I had the best time on my wedding day. Like, truly, it was basically a family vacation. It was 20 people total. Very small wedding in Cabo at Chileno Bay. But it was such a weird time in my life because we were in the trenches of building bloom. Like, we didn't have time for anything. I barely planned my own wedding and I didn't really have the friends that I have now because I was so, like, honed in on business. So we didn't go on a honeymoon. We just stayed in Mexico for a couple more days and then went home, bought a house, kept building bloom. It was like such a whirlwind of a time. And I said to Greg the other day, I was like, can we go on a honeymoon? Like, we never went on a honeymoon. So maybe at some point. I feel like when we hit 10 years, we'll do like a vow renewal and I'll like, do it at a ranch or something with all my friends and we'll go on a honeymoon. But I'm sure we'll go on a baby moon or something. Maybe that will. That can be what we do. Best movie you've watched in the last year. I'm not like a huge movie person, I have to be honest. But we're watching the show Billions right now, and I am obsessed with it. I keep calling Greg Bobby Axelrod or Greg Axelrod because I feel like that's the era he's in. That's the show I'm enjoying. Baby names you like? I actually feel like I have my name, which is crazy to say. It'll probably change. But, like, during ivf, I have hyper fixated on baby names because I feel like it's giving me, like, hope and it's just fun. So my entire TikTok for you page is baby names. Like professional baby namers and stuff. But I just to give you guys a little insight scoop, I really like short, cute. Like, I don't know how to describe it. Like, I Like, short, cute names, and I like feminine names. We've had our boy name now for, like, four years. Like, Greg and I have always had the boy name set, so I'm pretty sure the boy name is not changing. The girl name has changed a couple times. I have a long, long list of girl names. I also like having a British twang to them because I feel like that is how. Like, it feels special to me that it's from my culture, in a way. But then Greg's Italian, so it's like we want to have a little bit of a. A mix there. But I feel like I have my baby name. I'm scared to say them right now because I don't want to, like, give them all away. So I'll keep you guys posted on that once we fully decide. Would you ever open up a fitness studio? I do not think that's in the cards for me, guys. I feel like that sounds quite stressful. Oh, things that you've eaten during trying to conceive. Okay, this is a great question. I posted this the other day, but I recently heard that pomegranates are like, nature's fertility medication. Like, the seeds in the juice and then also beet juice can help with embryo transfer, implantation. Like, it helps the embryo stay. Greg found me pure pomegranate juice. No other ingredients, pure beet juice. And I mix them together with ice and a straw, and I drink that bitch every single day. Like, I am chugging this stuff, and it doesn't taste that good, but I don't care. Like, I am doing it. So if you are trying to conceive or you're on a fertility journey, pomegranate juice or pomegranate seeds and beet juice. I posted about it on TikTok, and I had multiple comments saying that women got pregnant with twins after chugging beet juice. So I'm just gonna put that out there. Do you like watching the NFL? No, not for me. No question. I just can't wait to meet pregnant mama versions of Marianne Powell when it happens.
Greg Llewellyn
That's so cute.
Mari Llewellyn
Me too. I feel like the podcast is going to shift in a good direction, guys. In a feminine, pregnant direction. How did you and Greg learn to relax again after you're building the business years? I feel like I've maybe learned Greg has not. Like, Greg has not learned to relax yet, guys. I think we're a couple years out from that. Go listen to, like, a recent episode that Greg and I did together. Greg is on the train. Like, Greg is grinding he was in New York last week. He said he would get up at 6am, work out, get a giant coffee, work till 8pm, go to Happy hour, go to dinner, do it all over again. He was actually on Bloomberg News, which was insane. It was so cool to watch Greg in his element speaking about business. And he was in the closing segment of Bloomberg News. So I watched it live. It was amazing. I'm so proud of him, but I feel like I'm a bit more in my relax era and Greg is fully in the opposite. Oh, and how did I learn to do that? I think it's a work in progress. Like I still have some guilt floating around for sure. Like, I do think I identify strongly with my work ethic and things like that. Like, it's difficult for me to let it go, but I think trying to conceive has really put things in perspective for me. And I'm like, you need to shift this mindset out of like hustle, busy culture and really get okay with being a bit more still and not having a crammed day because all of this stuff I'm going through medically is never going to work if my body's stressed. Anyway, guys, I'm gonna end that here. I really appreciate all of the questions. You guys are amaz and I will see you in the next episode. Bye.
