We all believe that the Lord is coming again very soon. The signs of the times are all around as never before. Prophecies are being fulfilled. Did you know that was just as true from 1890-1900 and that revival was breaking out in God’s church? Could it happen again? Could it be happening now? What does God want from us today? What will it take for the final Revival and Reformation that prepares the Remnant Church for Christ’s return?

What is Righteous by Faith? What does the expression, “Christ our Righteousness,” mean? These are terms that we will often hear in the Seventh-day Adventist church, but does anyone really know what is meant? And does it really matter? Ellen White calls it the “Third angel’s message in verity.” Now that sounds important. So maybe it is worth looking at more closely.

The Seventh-day Adventist church held a ministerial institute and General Conference session in 1893. Like 1888 it was a significant event in our history. The signs of the times indicated that Jesus would soon return, and it appeared that a major revival was taking place. Something happened shortly after that seems to have changed direction. We will study this and why it is important to us today.

The history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church was changed forever in 1888. 130 years later there is still talk and discussion about that General Conference Session. Why and what is the talk about? Does it matter in these last days? Elder A. G. Daniels, past president of the General Conference said, “In 1888 there came to the Seventh-day Adventist Church a very definite awakening message.” To set the stage for our week’s study we will review the history surrounding this remarkable event.
