Welcome to the podcast. I’m Rob Watson, an ex-pro marathoner with a 2:13:29 personal best (pre-super shoes), 11th place finisher at the 2013 Boston Marathon, and 20th at the World Championships in Moscow that same year. Nowadays, I’m a coach with Mile2Marathon and generally just a big running nerd.
On this show, we dive into all things running, with the occasional detour into cycling and triathlons. It’s a lighthearted, fun take on the sport we love, so sit back, relax, and let’s talk running.

It's been a while, but Rob and Shanimal are back to talk running...and life. On this episode we get caught up on life, recap racing the first 1/2 half marathon here in Vancouver, Hyrox and our ongoing training for the Rome Marathon. Thanks for checking out the podcast! Have a great one.

A few weeks ago, Mau invited Rob to a run retreat in Oaxaca, Mexico with Aire Libre. It turned out to be a truly transformative experience in an absolutely magical place. In this episode, we get together to reminisce and reflect on that journey. We touch upon the amazing running, the powerful cultural experience the retreat offered and more. Thanks for tuning in — I hope you enjoy the episode!

This week Shan and Rob discuss the Victoria Marathon. It was a tough day as Shan went 3:58, her 2nd fastest time ever, but she shy of her ultimate goal of a sub 3:50. Shannon absolutely left it all out there and I could not be more proud of the effort she put forth on race day. They aren't all great, but it is through struggle where character is revealed - our girl never quit and can walk away proud with how she showed up. Tune in as we talk it all out. Thanks for all the kind words and support. Thanks for stopping by.

This week we chat about our recent trip to Victoria BC where we took a little tour of the Victoria Marathon course in prep for Shan's Marathon in 2 weeks (It's my marathon now too, apparently). We discuss goals, course strategy and cats...lots of cat talk this week!Shan also reflects on running w/ gratitude and her overall relationship with racing. I hope you enjoy, thanks for stopping by!

This week we recap Shannon's experience at the Chicago Marathon. Things did not exactly go as planned, and she had a really tough day on Sunday. But in true Shanimal style she bounced back and made things right on Monday morning. These Major Marathons may just not be for everyone.

This week Shanimal joins as co-host as we discuss her Training heading into the Victoria Marathon- She's getting fit!We also recap some recent Triathlon endeavours including a Win at the Vancouver Sprint and a decent hit at Santa Cruz 70.3 Success - I'm starting to like these Triathlons, it's time to lean in proper. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy it! Rate and review if you're keen.

It's been a while, but this week Shan and I sit down for a training chat. We cover our epic bike packing trip to Quadra island, our Battle on mt. Baker and Shannon's training for the Victoria Marathon. We also introduce our new run club for Neurodivergent youth and teens. Thanks so much for tuning in!

Hello! This week we continue to follow along w/ Ellis Gray on his quest to PB and go sub 2:40 in the marathon. We touch upon how his 2025 has gone thus far and unfortunately we have to address a bit of a bump in the road in the form of a knee injury. Thanks for tuning in!

After having so much fun chatting w/ Dylan about his path to Grandma's I figured why not do the same thing w/ an M2M athlete, and here we are.Pt 1 of Ellis Gray vs. the 2:39 marathon. We'll follow along w/ long time M2M athlete Ellis Gray. Ellis is a hardworking, focused and very committed athlete (He's also simply a great guy) From his first Marathon- a modest 3:36, Ellis has had quite the journey- he's run many of the majors, honed his craft and worked down to 2:41, the next goal is to break the 2:40 barrier at the Victoria Marathon. Follow along as we track his progress of the build and do a deep dive into what it takes to put it out there and strive for excellence. Thanks for listening!

This week I am super stoked to have my buddy Mau join us for a chat. Mau is a runner, adventurer, explorer and entrepreneur.Mau is the founder of Aire Libre running and a fellow lululemon ambassador. We chat about why we run, how we experience the sport in our own way and how his sense of adventure led to him founding his company Aire Libre. It is a great chat and I hope you enjoy it. Afterwards Shannon and I take some time to chat training and bike races - we participated in the Oakanagan Gran Fondo - an event marred by tragedy. It was a sad day and we briefly talk about our experience there. Thank you for tuning in, have a lovely day.
