Samoa’s Ghost Sickness

High above a volcanic crater on São Miguel, an abandoned luxury hotel looms out of the fog - a five-star dream that collapsed almost as soon as it opened. Visitors today report footsteps in empty hallways, voices in stairwells, and the unmistakable feeling of being watched by something that never left. A little less exotic but equally as creepy, Lynze brings us a tale from Spokane. The story of an entity that has attached itself to a someone and still lingers close today. To wrap up, we go to a midwest county fair where two young friends get more than they bargained for at the fun house. Room 1009
Jan 14Tap to summarizeDan takes us to downtown Dallas, across from Union Station, to an old hotel that’s changed names so many times it’s like it keeps trying to hide from its past. Room 1009 doesn't seem to care what the hotel is called, though. Stories of encounters with its ghosts remain unchanged. The room allegedly has a long, sordid history of murders and suspicious deaths tied to it. Then we explore the lore of the elegant Adolphous Hotel. It’s been collecting tragedy since the first month it opened. On the nineteenth floor, guests still report hearing a woman sobbing like her heart is breaking in real time. Lynze starts off with a possible Grim Reaper sighting on the night of a confirmed death. Then, we head to Key West AKA Bone Island, for a ghost tour with an actual ghost. Lastly, on a long drive home after a long week of work, a man encounters someone who seems to have wandered out of their final resting place. The Watseka Wonder

The first comes from the state of Illinois and is the exceptionally strange late 19th century tale of the Watseka Wonder. Then his second story takes us back to the early 18th century to Canterbury, England. Did famed English author Daniel Defoe write the first based-on-a-true story ghost encounter claim? Lynze begins the back half of the show with a creepy encounter with a shadowy figure inside of the mind of someone playing a game. Then, we are off to New Orleans where we hear about two fans strange stay in a French Quarter hotel. Monthly Patreon Donation: This months charitable donation is going to Ignite Adaptive Sports. Ignite Adaptive Sports mission is to provide snow sport opportunities to people with disabilities. They believe that everyone should be able to enjoy winter sports, regardless of skill or ability level. We are a volunteer based organization that provide snow sport lessons to athletes with disabilities out of Eldora Mountain Resort. In 2024, 320 volunteers gave 22,390 hours of their time to provide 1,690 snowsports lessons to 459 athletes. Ignite Adaptive Sports provides sit skiing lessons, cross country and snowshoe lessons, downhill skiing, snowboarding and ski biking lessons. They rely on grants, donations, an annual fundraising gala, and our host mountain Eldora to be able to provide this much needed service. Dan and Lynze had the pleasure of meeting Sam Brady who works with this great non profit. Sam shared with us that Ignite Adaptive Sports is run by almost all volunteers with only 2 paid staff members. They typically receive funding for disabled veterans to be able to receive lessons at no cost to them. However, this year, due to budget cuts in the DEI space, it’s not looking good. Sam asked if we’d be interested in supporting this cause and supporting disabled people, especially disabled veterans. We sent $11,600 over to them and put another $1250 into the scholarship fund!
