The Bhagavad Gita is opened by setting the stage of the Kurukshetra battlefield. Two massive armies representing different loyalties and ideologies face a catastrophic war. With Arjuna is Krishna, not as a participant in the war, but only as his charioteer and counsel.

MAHABHARAT: Setting the Scene

The Bhagavad Gita, which is surely the basic text on the practice of detachment, is wonderfully explicit on this point. Krishna tells Arjuna that acting with detachment means doing the right thing for its own sake, because it needs to be done, without worrying about success or failure. Detachment can best be described as a process of letting go. It allows you to release difficult situations and, sometimes, difficult people. By detaching from past experiences and future expectations, you can look at your relationships, both personal and professional, more objectively, which gives you greater clarity.

Complex minds: One of the quintessential tenets espoused by Krishna resides in the profound significance of self-realization. He ardently underscored the imperative of introspection, urging individuals to delve into the depths of their being to unearth genuine essence and sentiments. In the wisdom of Krishna, authentic felicity manifests solely through the comprehension of one's innermost self and the establishment of a profound connection with the divine realm. Simple minds: Krishna taught that understanding yourself and connecting with the divine brings real happiness. He said it's important to look inside yourself to find your true nature and feelings.

The Power of Habit includes scientific findings on habit formation and change from the fields of social psychology, clinical psychology, and neuroscience. This is not a self-help book conveying one author's homespun remedies; it's a serious look at the science of habit formation and change. Power of Habit is more journalistic, though it does have the appendix at the back that talks about how to implement habit changes. The Golden Rule is that “bad” habits are very difficult to eradicate. Instead, seek to change them/ reprogramme them/ overwrite them with a new routine. Cue stays the same, reward stays the same, craving stays the same, but the routine linking the cue to the reward is changed.
