I've been using alter egos my whole life. Every day is a story. I'm Shannon Cason. Make sure you like and subscribe. Even back in high school, I wasn't like that loud, brash guy. I'd never been that. I'm just chill, laid back. But you can't be chill all the time. Basketball. On the basketball court, I had to make a switch. I had to. I had to become one of my favorite basketball players growing up. And it wasn't like Isaiah Thomas or Michael Jordan or anybody like that. It was Charles Barkley. I like Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley was the man in this time. I studied his game. I embodied it. His. His. In the paint, moves I perfected. He had this one spin, he'll kind of grab you and push you to the side. I perfected that spin to the basket. Could make that shot or dunk on you, you know? His strength. I was stronger than most of the kids in my age group, so I would use that thinking of Charles Barkley to kind of like, bully around the kids that I played with. My favorite thing was if somebody had to switch guarding me. I remember once I was playing basketball, and the other team was telling the guy who was guarding me and, hey, man, you gotta stop him from scoring. You gotta stop him. Because I was just scoring too much. And he yelled back, this motherfucker strong. You try to garden. And then they. They switched him off. They switched players on me. And I was just like, in my head, I was just smiling big because he was guarding Charles Barkley. So I use alter egos all the time. I use it for studying. I become Carl Sagan. Just got the Carl Sagan energy. I'm looking at everything with wonder and excitement. I'm seeking clarity. And everything that I'm looking at, I have a real respect for learning, for my hard workouts. Like, if I got to work out hard, I'm a lion. I become an animal. I'm a lion. I'm a Leo. That's my. My zodiac sign. So I become a lion. That dominant energy, that strong energy. I use the lion for other things too. You know, some people like that growl. I put that growl. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Okay. For hard workouts, I'm a lion. And then, like, if it's time to be more outgoing, I'm more of an introverted person. But I can be extroverted. And if I have to switch to that extroverted lane, I become Jamie Foxx. I really like, like, Jamie Foxx's personality. You know, it's confident, he's fun, he's funny, charismatic. I become more of a Jamie Foxx character or alter ego. And more recently, I've had to create a new alter ego. And this is perfect for this stage in my life. It isn't a celebrity. It isn't an athlete or animal in any sorts. This is totally original. I like original thoughts. This alter ego's name is Aaron. E R R A N D. Aaron. Aaron is totally selfless. He doesn't complain. He doesn't get too emotional about things. Aaron just executes the task at hand. He has a task and he does it. Also, Aaron loves listening to storytelling in true crime podcasts. If he has his podcast, he's perfect. Just don't bother him. He'll get the work done. He just needs his podcast. The longer, the better. Yesterday, Aaron had a full schedule. First, he had to take his uncle to a doctor, and he talked to his uncle about the Pistons game. Pistons lost the first game of the playoffs. We can't play around with this Orlando team. We got to close them out. So game two is today. Go watch the game. But then after that, Aaron just listens to his. His podcast. I heard this terrible story. This is a terrible story about the guy killed eight kids. Kill eight of his kids, like a month. There are monsters in this world. This was in Shreveport, Louisiana. Crazy, sad story. So I listened to that podcast. But Aaron had to get coffee and groceries for his mom, and he just listened to what's Racing. Got some new podcasts coming out. I listened to Ray talk about the army with this chaplain. Talked to him about his career. It was pretty good. Good interview. Good interview, Ray, if you listen to this podcast. But then Aaron had to go pick up Zoe from school and get her to the orthodontist appointment on time, or else they'll charge you. So I get her to the orthodontist on time and. And listen to either Risk or. Or Snap Judgment or the Moth or one of those storytelling podcasts where I can just listen to the stories. You could just let. And then Aaron had to make one last stop at the nail shop for Zoe. She's going to her DECA competition. She has the international competition in Atlanta this week that she's going to. She leaves tomorrow, actually. I'm excited for my girl. For my girl. Thanks to Tom Powers, too, for talking to her. Zoe doing a talk on. I think it's on marketing for motion pictures. She's really into movies and that kind of thing. So she's doing something on marketing. And she won her first her state competition. And now she goes on to the national and international competition, which is in Atlanta. So let's wish her well. But I had to get her nails done, take her to the nail shop. So Aaron did that. $140 for 16 year old nails, you know. But Aaron never complains. Aaron just pays the tab. And he tips well. Aaron tips well. And at the end of the day, I put Aaron away. When we get home, I put Aaron away. And this is what I have to do. I listen to some Westside guns so I can make the shift. Do do do do do. Ayo. I listen to that. You ever cook a brick in the air fryer? If I listen to that, I can make the switch. So I'm home. Shoes off, pants off, shirt off. Draw. Sitting in my easy chair watching papa meat on YouTube. Don't judge me. He's funny to me. Papa Meat is some funny topics that he goes through. But then Zoe calls me at night and asked me to go pick up some takeout food that she's just ordered. And I have to put Aaron back on. I have to yell inside of myself, hey, Aaron, wake up, Aaron. So Aaron is back up and at it. No complaints. Goes to pick up the food and listen to you had me at black podcast. You had me at black storytelling podcast, which just restarted. So go listen to you had me at black. And then I come back home and I crash out. So my moment of meaning and all that. We have different versions of ourselves to handle various parts of our life. It's normal. And sometimes you have to become someone entirely different to take care of what needs to be done. So question for you. Do you use alter egos? And what's your alter ego? When you really have to get something done, what do you turn into? What do you become? What's your story?
