Der Mättlich kann nicht singen, aber er macht Sound mit den Frequenzen seines Flügelschlags. "Mättlich" ist sächsisch, "mjetel" oder "mjetelik" ist obersorbisch, "mjatel" ist niedersorbisch. Alles das bedeutet "Schmetterling". Ein zweiten Track gibt es bei https://soundcloud.com/geigerzaehler/weich-gebettet-am-schonen-lack-kratzen Shannon Soundquist und Paul Geigerzähler bewegen sich improvisatorisch zwischen den Gegensätzen modern-traditionell, elektronisch-akustisch, Synthie-Violine, sorbisch-deutsch, abstrakt-konkret, nontonal-melodiös, nonverbal-Text, Folk-Tekno, laut-leise. Die beiden Künstler:innen arbeiten auf musikalischer Ebene das Sorbische im Deutschen heraus und öffnen damit Räume, die der deutsche Nationalismus mit seinem Antislawismus unter den Teppich kehrt. Gegenseitige Wahrnehmung, Anerkennung und Respekt finden in der Improvisation eine musikalische Form. Feb 27, 202400:02:36Tap to summarize"leaving the thankfulness in the room" – this track has a conceptual background. i developed it out of the soundtrack of one of my films "jeder schatz hat seinen preis" ("every treasure has it's price"). it's about two old tales located in german mountains saxon switzerland on mount lilienstein. two figures meet in a cave on mount lilienstein, one is frightened, the other curious. somehow they become solidary with each other. thanks to @cate_hops who invited me to her radio show within the female:pressure podcast and motivated me to produce a new track for it. https://soundcloud.com/femalepressure/fp-podcast-episode-150_cate-hops

Shellac Factory [PHO002]
Sep 30, 202300:07:28Tap to summarizeHave you ever played a shellack record? It’s like vinyl but much easier to break. It’s made of certain excrements of lice, powder of cotton and dust. And it is to be played at 78 rpm. I broke the first shellack record i played as a child – immediately. Thanks to digitisation and especially to @mudaki, who invited me to take part at „(Non)Obsolete Media - Shellac Records Revisited“, i dealt with shellacks in a different way: I made a composition out of samples from old shellack records from the archive of Usti nad Labem, mostly old records for theatre with sounds of door-banging, bell-ringing, train sound, hammering, horning, also an actress speaking a poem, an a promo-record for certain microphons. The results sound completely different, but some traces of the original sounds are still in there. And I played a 4-channel-live-set with that traces on Tuesday 6th of December. I took place in Ústí nad Labem at Dům umění, House of Art. There were be other artists playing live sets like Mudaki herself, Jan Krombholz and 4-channel-compositions by Oliver Torr, Moises Horta Valenzuela and Jan Machaček. The week before in the first edition of „(Non)Obsolete Media“ Jan Burian, Vojtech Groot and Inaki Rocha Echevarria played. Thanks a lot to @solidcoreinstruments who built himself a very insteresting and easy to handle 4-channel-mixer. What a joy to have it! It makes it very playful to operate with 4 channels. And thanks a lot to sound artist Vojtech Groot who explained this mixer to me! And of course thanks a lot to sound artist @mudaki – she organised all of that, gave a lecture on spatial audio and played as well. What a powerhouse!
