Vibe check. Here we go. Okay. So huge freaking win. First game in. In Vegas, like, sent the tone early. We were just on our. And, like, it was. It was good from the jump. Sense of urgency. Defensive scheme was perfect. Offense, like, Kelsey Mitchell's a freaking beast. I don't know if you watched. I think she had, like, 34 points. Like, she is just going off, and she was actually one of the runners, one of the, I think, final five for MVP voting or whatever, and Asia got it. So it's kind of cool that Asia has it now. Kelsey, now they're kind of, like, battling, which. I don't know if that's a thing, but I'm making it a thing.

Don't get me wrong. Vegas played better. They had junk defense, which was hard for us. We didn't. We weren't hitting our shots whatsoever.

Yes. Wes, I love this. So, like, normally you either play, like, man to man or like, a two, three zone. A junk defense is, like, when you do, like, a triangle and two or a box in one or, like, it's just, like. It's just a. It's. It's not a clean defense. So teams aren't just used to it. It's called a junk defense.

[Wes]

And why would a team run a junk defense instead of something traditional?

[Sophie Cunningham]

Well, so they. They were running kind of like man to man. I think on misses, I would say because it's hard to match up to get in your junk defense on. In transition.

[Wes]

Right.

[Sophie Cunningham]

But then I think what the ball was like, side line, out of bounds, or I wasn't. I can't really remember, but because they want to stop Kelsey. So, like, that is like our main offensive player. And so they box up, which is like, zones everyone else. And then someone just stays on Kelsey the entire time, wherever she's at.

Yeah.

So, I mean, it was. It was pretty smart move by. By Becky, but we have some tricks up our sleeves now. But. Yeah, so now they're coming into our house Friday tomorrow, um, and it's about to be good. Like, I. Our team's feeling good, so I'm excited.

Stealing game one in any series, especially when you're away, is, like, so. So massive. I mean, rarely is a team going to sweep the first two games, especially on the road. Yeah, that first. Any series, any sport, it's always if you're the underdog, if you can steal one, just one first two, and then go back home, you're set up for success. So that's awesome.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Yeah, it was fun.

All of that was from the jump, and it, like, punched him in the mouth early. Where this. This last game, we were just on our heels and we. We were too slow. Like, it. We weren't quick enough from the jump. And so against a team that's like that, who does have the mvp, who has great players on their teams, a bunch of all stars, great coach, and Becky, like, you just can't, because otherwise it's just so hard to. To come back from. So I think that everyone's just going to be more aggressive and it's going to be fun. Like, I know that gamebridge is about to be freaking loud and packed, and it is so fun and so hard to play here. So I don't know. We stole a game, and that's huge. Like, all the pressure's on them. We're just Here in.

I. I agree, I agree. How was the atmosphere in Vegas? I. I forget I live there actually randomly enough. I. My office was in Caesar's Palace. I didn't even mean to do that. I. But they. The Aces are one of the first pro teams in.

Vegas. They had the Aces and the Knights and like that was kind of like what made that city into like a sports city, like solid environment. Have you played in there in the playoffs before?

Yeah, I played. I played in there for like the last six years because I think my first year was their first year and it was their second year in Vegas. I will say I thought that that place normally it's like packed and sold out and loud and like it really wasn't like there was people there, but it was not how it has been in the past couple years. Which was like really interesting to me because last time we were actually up there, we played at T Mobile. That's like everyone was playing and we pretty much sold that thing out. And I say we like. I think they did that because the Fever were in town and so. I don't know why.

No, they play in.

So this is actually one of my longest hangovers of the year so far. Market down. What did you do? We just. Well, first off, all the Missouri boys were here, so I had them on this couch. That couch. My new little guest room.

I will say one thing. Nothing makes you, like, not only clean up your, like, living space, but, like, make sure it's. It's at its highest level than having people come stay with you. So this is the first time I was, like, hosting. So I was, like, getting. I was getting shit, like, hung up on the walls all day Thursday, making sure I had sheets, pillows for the guest room. Like, those are all very normal things, but, like, you don't think to do it. Yeah, you don't think to do it until, like, the people have, like, left for the airport, and you're like, oh, my God, I need clean pillow sheets for them in the guest room. But I think we crushed. And so we did this a few years ago when the Chiefs played the jets, but we did, like, had people over, and then a bus comes and grabs us, hangs out around Manhattan, and then. Then, you know, stop at a bar and then go to the game.

So did Heidi Gardner actually get on?

[Wes]

Yes. She rolled the road the whole time. It was like the. Was she so the best treat of all time? Yeah, I kind of just hit her up and was like, yo, I don't know if you're going to the Giants game, but I have a party bus. Like, all my Missouri boys are coming to. Want to come with us? And she was like, I also have a party bus. There's 10 of us. Like, should we just conjoin ours? And I was like, do it. So she canceled hers. And then, like, came to my door with, like, ten of her homies. And then they all. What? We. We. Everyone pre gamed here. Some of her friends got here before her, and I was like, oh, hey. Like, what's up? And they were like, we're Heidi's friends. We're from Kansas City. Blah, blah, blah, blah. And I was like, get cozy. Get a beverage. Like, let's do it. Then Heidi shows up. We, like, all go to the bus. Like, obviously, everyone knows who she is. She's, like, iconic. And, yeah, we're, like, riding around. We pit stop, a bar. And then I was like, where is Heidi? Like, everyone's on the bus. I can't find her. She comes running around the corner and has three giant pizza boxes, comes back onto the bus and is just, like, giving them out. Like, it's like a whole pizza party. Everyone's, like, taking slices. Like, it was the most fun day ever. She was good vibes. Everyone was good vibes. And, like, all my friends left her alone for the most part, which was cool because she's obviously, you know, important.

Yeah. She's, like, went to KU for a little bit, transferred to Mizzou, dropped out, went to LA to act, and now is, like, a Saturday Night Live icon. I think she left a freaking icon.

No, I. It's like, all our Chiefs friends, but I'll probably pull up, bring a bottle of wine, say, happy housewarming. I don't even know if it's their housewarming, but it was just so fun.

I think she's like, 40 maybe. I don't know. She looks very youthful. Yeah, she looks great. So, yeah, huge staple on the bus. And then we went to the game. It was like, an extra, like, 200 bucks to have the bus stay in the parking lot and, like, wait for us.

So then everyone comes back, we meet back on the bus, and it drives us back to Manhattan and, like, it was a nightclub in that goddamn bus. Did you go out? I'll tell you what. No, but. Well, it was Sunday, so you kind of gotta behave a little. But the day started at, like, one.

When you not using Sunday, you gotta behave. And isn't kickball normally on Sundays?

Kickball's on Thursdays, Mamacita. And we are recording this three hours before kickoff, and it's going to be a rainy one. I may or may not have ran and got football cleats from this.

I think you got to go trust. I think you got to go. I think you got to go history, because that means something to me. I think you can judge a person a lot based on, like, are all their friends, like, very new? And it feels very, like, oh, we're best friends, and we've known each other for, like, six months, and then they have a new best friend. I believe in history. Or, like, longevity. And then let's go. For me, fun, laughter. Like, being able to, like, not take yourself too seriously. Those are my three. And those are also the fevers. Fun, trust.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Damn near we over me.

[Wes]

Cats. Character, accountability, toughness, state. That's one. Do you guys have on the wall anywhere, like, a slogan?

[Sophie Cunningham]

You know? We do, but they have been changing our pictures and stuff, and I haven't been in there in a hot minute since I hurt my leg. But I do know ours is, like, standard over feeling. So that's a. That's a good one.

[Wes]

That's a great one.

[Sophie Cunningham]

I love especially because, like, feelings are so up and down. So, like, standard of feelings. I know one of them is we over Me. So, like, choosing the team above you, and then, like, you're. There's, like, so many of, like, accountability, trust, communication, all those. But, like, yeah, wait.

[Wes]

It's going to kill me if I don't remember the one that I was just trying to say. It's. It was about in order of things that matter. And it's like team, then your position, group venue. Oh, but that's like.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Yeah, that's kind of the we over me. Like.

[Wes]

Yes, very much so.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like that.

[Wes]

Those are good. Those are good.

[Sophie Cunningham]

I would say my, my relationship ones. I think mine would be more faith based. So like, that sets the standard. But out of those, I would say love, communication and fun.

[Wes]

Love. Yeah. I also, I guess when I was thinking relationship, I was thinking like dating, which is why I said trust. I guess I like, I have a lot of like, dumb friends who I probably don't trust, but they're still my boys and that's a good relationship. Yeah, but I trust them. As in, like, it's hard to say. I think I'm like blindly trustworthy. You know what I mean?

[Sophie Cunningham]

That's actually such a valid thing that, like, it depends what type of relationship I was thinking. He was thinking more romantic relationship, but like, there's so many of like, literally my best guy friends or best, not really girlfriends, but more my guy friends that like, I love them and I trust them, but if I was trying to date them, I would never date them.

[Wes]

Yeah, of course. So then. Yeah, that's interesting. And also like your parents, like, I have great relationships with them and I've never considered trust ever because I feel like that's built in. Yes, but like our boy who just called, maybe it's not. Well, so then maybe that is a pillar.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Well, I think also we, when it comes to like, relationships and stuff, I think us two really did get blessed with like, getting being raised in a great family of like, learning those things and like, being comfortable at home and having those great relationships with our parents that like, the more that I'm out in the world and learning, like, we're very blessed. Like, a lot of people do not have that. A lot of.

[Wes]

No. And I think I've had to learn a lot the last few years about this and like, kind of how it's made me. And I think that, like, I probably take for granted those things because it's like so stable where I grew up and my parents even still today that like, I don't walk outside looking for like a perfect relationship or like, feeling like I need to like, like find it because I've never once felt like it wasn't there for me, you know?

[Sophie Cunningham]

Yeah.

[Wes]

And like, my friends and family relationships are so strong that I don't. I guess I'm not like, trying to perfect relationships that I'm in like, Dating wise, you know, or also. And it's taken a long time to learn that.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Well, yeah, but I think. But that's not like, again, I think everyone has their thing, but it's not your fault that that's all you've known. So, like, you're gonna have to learn certain things through different situations and scenarios. But also it's like, when we know we can come home or, like, even call our parents and have, like, someone who truly loves us, I think. I don't know, it's kind of cool learning about other people's stories because, like, we relate in different, like, situations, you.

[Wes]

Know, it's hard to just wake up and, like, be able to put yourself in other people's shoes perfectly. But that's kind of why you have a life, is to, like, go through those and, like, learn things, whether that's, like, easy or the hard way. And then I think by, like, being empathetic and trying to, like, learn from. Every time you go through something that, like, sucks. That, like, you know, everyone's journey is different and it shapes us all.

[Sophie Cunningham]

Like, and we all struggle. We're all confident in. In certain areas, but we also all struggle, like, with certain things regardless. So.

[Wes]

I don't know.

[Sophie Cunningham]

I just think it's all about listening and understanding. So. I don't know.

[Wes]
