But I'm just saying, when you're not getting what you want with like playing time and stuff like that, like sometimes you just got to go through the in order to be the. Is that a bar? Let's get.
C
All right, guys, pardon me if I'm distracted for a little bit. I need our Atlanta Falcons to beat the Buffalo Bills. And they are up a touchdown with the ball so fingers.
A
Do you need it because you have money on it or why do you need it?
C
No, I'm. This could be a whole podcast episode. I can't believe that I'm going to get on a soapbox eight seconds into this episode. But I'm a football purist. I can't fucking stand people. Go to bars, watch games, talk about their fantasy teams and their bets. I'm rooting for the Falcons. I want the Bills to lose because it benefits the Chiefs in the afc. That's all I care about. I want the Chiefs to do well. Has nothing to do with money or fantasy and people who be like, oh, I hope the Chiefs win, but I have Trevor Lawrence on my fantasy team. You're a fucking dork. Don't do. That's fucking lame.
A
I can't help.
C
You don't know ball or watch ball.
A
You don't know ball. You don't watch ball. But I also can't help that you sound a little raspy.
C
It was way worse last week. Or, like, during the week. But yeah, I actually. Okay, we're gonna. I guess we can hop into this speech.
A
Dude, it's. It's everywhere. West. Like, I think you killed it. I think you actually killed it.
C
Well, so both my parents were there, and my mom was. No. Even if I went up there and, like, said the ABCs and a bunch of cuss words, my mom would have been like, that was so amazing. I love you. Yeah.
A
But my.
C
But my dad was like. I could tell he, like, really approved of it. And he texted me before I got back to their table and was like, you crushed? So I felt good.
A
It was.
C
But I was really nervous before.
A
Why?
C
I don't know. It feels like a big deal. Like, it's just in front of, like, boosters and I. I was seated at the table with the AD and the. And the president. So I was like, you know, it just feels like high stakes. And you don't do that every day.
A
It is high stakes. But also when you get to meet people, they're just people, right? Like, you're. You're more intimidated by the title, but, like, once you get to know them, it's like, oh, I belong here. And I think you killed it.
C
They're also the coolest people ever. And, like, our ad. Awesome. And our new pres. Seems like a great guy. He's new. We had the. We had the best president in the entire country for the longest time. She just retired. Shout out. Wadega Cruzado. But once I started talking, it was so easy. Because it was just about, you know, like, the tie you have with the community and alumni and just kind of, you know, it's not that hard to talk about, but it was a new environment for me, like, public speaking, and it was probably the highest honor. This is, like, real deal shit.
A
And, Wesley, it is a big deal because it really does show, like, when people pour into people what else they can do beyond sports and what else they like. Dude, I know everyone. Yeah, everyone sees people as just the athlete, but there's so much more to people. And so when you get to come back and speak into these donors who are giving a lot of their time, a lot of their money, just a lot of stuff they don't have to do, it shows them that they're doing the right thing. Pouring into athletes.
C
That is quite literally what the prompt of my speech, like, was. You just nailed the whole thing. So that was good. But it was. I think it was mostly serious, but I snuck some jokes in atlant. Like, I. I was really happy. And then, um. Then we went to the. Then we. You know, it was game day Saturday, a little rainy, but I brought two of my friends, and they had an absolute blast. So it was really fun.
A
Dude, you're. You should be proud, but you're fun. The fucking video of the dancers, and then you turn it to them, and they're just, like, staring at us.
C
How funny was that? That's. That one of those was Jesse.
A
I know I don't know the other guy, but I definitely knew Jesse. And, like, it was literally the dancers asses. And then you pull it to them, and there's like.
C
And I'm like, yeah. Drooling. Yeah. The other thing, the reason I'm wearing this letter jacket, kind of for symbolism. I don't know how long this story will take. Did you know I got robbed in Kansas City like, four years ago?
A
No.
C
Okay. I went to the Montana State. Montana game. We beat the. Out of them. Game day was there. Flew home to Kansas City. We parked at Power and Light, went inside to watch Chiefski. Came out, the whole parking lot, all the back windows smashed. And I was like, oh, my. Like, the worst day you could ever, ever, like, have the car, bro. Your car broken into?
A
Yeah.
C
I was traveling home for Thanksgiving, so it was my suitcase, backpack, like, everything I own. I think I was laid off, like, four days before. It was, like, a craziest week of my life. But my letter jacket was in there. And I was so sad because that's, like, such a big thing, you know, you have to earn it. It kind of matters. And I didn't get, I didn't get one for four years. And then after this speech, our ad was like, hey, just so you know, I like, I, I grabbed an extra letter jacket, like I've got back and it was really nice, really cute. And so this is new.
A
Aw.
C
Yeah. But so it was just, Just a great weekend. Yeah, a lovely weekend.
A
Wait, that, that actually really is cool because when people are kind of at that level, but they pay attention to just like caring for people, that's what it's all about at the end of the day.
C
Yes.
A
And that's what makes people really good at what they do is when they actually just do the simple things and the good things of life.
C
The one thing that's craziest to me with college sports now, I've like, not to sound like a fucking old guy, but like the portal is insane. And I am just so happy to have one school that I am proud to have gone to for my whole career. And like there are ups and downs obviously, but like I can go back and be a part of that family now. And I wonder now with everyone who transfers to like three, four schools, I'm like, would you. When you're like a party as like a 28 year old, like, where do you tell people you even went to school? Who do you root for? Like, it's so bizarre.
A
Can we also talk about though? Like, I think so. So many people, especially athletes are so. They want to be the star and they want everything so fast and if they don't get it, they just think that they can run and go to something else. But like, where do you really learn character? Like, where do you learn how to like, like we think sports is hard in college. That has, that's nothing compared to like when you're actually in the real life and you actually have real responsibilities. So like when you're just always running from it, where do these kids learn, like good morals and good characteristics?
C
I think I learned so much from like, I feel so much more. My cup is more full.
A
Yes.
C
Having, having so like I peaked as a sophomore in college. I played the most as often more than fucking, like wasn't. I don't know. I broke my leg. Whatever. Long story, but not blending on injuries. I just, I. That's what I played the most.
A
I didn't make it to the NFL because I broke my leg.
C
Guys. No, I would never say that.
A
I would never say it for you.
C
But I was like, not happy a lot of the time. And thought about leaving. But like looking back, I'm so glad I just stuck it out at the school I started at because the what I'm giving back now, getting to do shit like this is so rewarding and so special. And obviously you stay at the same school, like it just.
A
I don't think you also get to build.
C
It's also hard now when people offer you money but facts, facts.
A
But you also get to build a good changes everything. And you also get to build lifelong relationships that like if you're constantly moving, like I just. And I'm not saying it's wrong because sometimes there are situations where people should be leaving because you want a better your experience. And sometimes the coaches are to never be coaches. It's just not the right fit for you.
C
Right.
A
But I'm just saying when you're not getting what you want with like playing time and stuff like that, like sometimes you just got to go through the shit in order to be the shit. Is that a bar?
C
Yeah. And. But also the reason college sports are like, this is the douche thing. I'll say. But like people always say like, oh, like employers love hiring college athletes after they graduate is because we've been through hard and like made it out alive, you know. And so yeah, every time something's tough, you transfer. I don't know how you actually ever come to terms with like, I can overcome obstacles or like even if shit sucks now, like, I'll be better for it on the other side, you know. And I think that's what college sports taught me. I would imagine you. So.
A
So you did all that? Did you get there Friday?
C
Thursday.
A
Thursday. So Thursday, Friday. So did you still have time to watch the Chiefs game?
C
Yeah, I flew back the. Well, the Chiefs game last night. Yeah, I flew back yesterday like late morning. I got back just in time. And is it safe to say Chiefs are back in this bitch? As I'm watching. Knock on wood. The Bills fucking maybe lose again.
A
Dude, we look good. We did look good.
C
Great offense surging. Also I will say last night's Chiefs Lions game was a borderline like the most, the closest to a must win game that the Chiefs have played in like early to mid regular season in a long time. And they showed up. It looks great against a very, very, very good team. And they get Rashi Rice back next week.
A
Do they?
C
Very tasty. Yeah. Suspended for the first six years. Have you ever been suspended?
A
No. Wow, I'm surprised too.
C
That's crazy. Wait, you didn't get suspended after you beat up that girl, after the Caitlin.
A
Thing, beat her up. Relax. I didn't beat her up, but.
C
Grab your neck.
A
Yeah. That's not beating up. I. No, I didn't. I just got. I just got.
C
I. I will also say I am starting to get a lot. Like, obviously, when I meet people in the wild, a lot of people say, we love summer House. I'm getting a lot of love the podcast people.
A
Same. Oh, my God. I was. Okay. So I was almost a little late doing this tonight because I was at a dinner with a bunch of people I used to work with, and they were all raving about our podcast. And everywhere I go, they're like, you guys have something special going on here. I was like, yeah. And I was like, we don't even really know what the hell we're doing, and it's just going to get better. Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
Is that crazy, though? Like, when. When. When we're out, people are like, oh, my God, I love your podcast. Like, so many fans during the season when we started, that's like, all they talked about, so. Thanks, guys.
C
No, it's awesome. And I.
A
That is. Yeah.
B
And I did.
C
I did a post game or a sideline interview, and she was like, how's that? Like, one of the first questions was, how's the podcast? And I was like, that is nice. Sophie Carey's. No, there's a lot of. There's a lot of WNBA drama that I would have never expected to be involved in. And I'm just getting tagged in that and left and right on Twitter. But.
A
Well, I can't wait till the new season to come out, so then I can get caught up in the drama because I'm off. Or that tea. Oh, God, I can't wait.
C
That actually is. I would love for you to, like, I don't know, say something controversial and then just have Bravo people fudgeing.
A
Just love. Oh, my God.
C
I would love.
A
I can't wait. When's it come out? November. You said November?
C
No, not till, like, February or March. Takes forever. Yeah. Yeah.
A
Okay.
C
Takes a long time.
A
Never mind.
C
It's a lot of. But if you think about. If you think about our show.
A
Yeah.
C
Like, it's not like a lot of shows. It's where you film scenes. You just, like, show up, there's a couple cameras, then you go home. Ours is those GoPros running in the house for three full straight days. And, like, all those microphones and I combing through that to make a show. Sounds awful. Exhausting.
A
Well, I just feel like on reality TV shows, There's just so much, like, so many different routes you could go. Right. So it's like. It's totally based on the person cutting it up of, like, where they want to take it.
C
Yeah.
A
Do you know them?
C
Yeah.
A
Do you know that, like, the producers and the people who do that?
C
You don't know, like, everyone, but, like, at this point, I've met a lot of the people who, like, do posts and, like, when we do the confessionals and stuff, when they, like, interview us, and it's like, green screen stuff. That's people who are, like, doing the, like, creating the show behind the scenes.
A
Okay, but can you kind of.
C
They're all, like. They're all lovely.
A
Well, that's what I was gonna say. Can you, like, tell those people, like, what type of, like, character you kind of want to be or, like, what you're hoping to be? So. No.
C
No. Like, our show, again, is so unique because it's. It's not seen. Like, we're not showing up to, like, film a scene to get points done and then, like, go home. Like, we show up with our suitcases and are, like, in this house for three days. And so if you were gonna try. Try to be produced or act or whatever, it would be exhausting, and it would be impossible because, again, there's, like, there are cameras on us for three straight days and mics in every corner. So that. I think that's why show does well.
A
I feel like if I knew that was going on, like, say. There's a kind of say here, like, a hot guy, and there's a. There's a bar out here called Hot Chicken, and you meet him there.
C
Like, you're in Indy or Phoenix.
A
I'm in Phoenix right now.
C
Okay. Hot chick.
A
Yeah, hot chick. It's fun. And he kind of knows the people, like, knows the vibe, and you like him. I think if I was on the show, I wouldn't. I wouldn't pursue or do anything because I knew, like, I just don't think I could, like, be what I. Or, like, say or do what I would want to do, because I know that they're filming.
C
Yeah, but you also, like, have to get over it or you'll be. You would be, like, miserable in your head for a full summer. So, like, like, similar to, like, ours aren't scenes like you are. You're just living in a house and in the backyard, and it's. It's way easier than you'd think to, like, just wait yourself.
A
So when you're. When you're watching the shows come out. Is it the first time you've seen them, too? So you're like, oh, God, what are they going to choose from?
C
Yeah, but in the same vein, like, that part of it's scary, but also there are so many funny moments that I fully forgot existed. And you're like, oh, that was so cute. Or like, that was so fun and that was so silly. So you get, like, the surprise aspect is scary, but it's also kind of fun.
A
I like that.
C
As long as you're not like a fucking total maniac.
A
Yeah.
C
But.
A
Yeah.
C
Do you behave well when you're drunk?
A
Do you feel like I'm a great time?
C
Yeah. Yeah. Then you should be good.
A
Hey, speaking. This is totally off the topic of what we're talking about, but on the 27th, I'm going to be on Good Morning America and I'll be up in New York.

C

A

C
Is that a Monday?
A
Are you not going to be there?
C
Dude, I'm. The Chiefs are flying me out for a thing.
A
Oh, God, you're so annoying.
C
Well, I can't spoil it. I can tell you. Not on the podcast. It's like a fun thing. It's a little, like a little cute thing. But I'm. And then I'll be at the game. But that's actually might be the busiest week of my life. That week.
A
Of course. Of course. When I'm. When I'm in your city, you don't have time for me.
C
Well, how many days are you going to only be here?
A
Monday, Sunday. Monday. But then I'm really trying to get back out there on November, in November sometime.

C
You guys dropped a commercial.
A
I know.
C
Was it last week or this week?
A
I think it was like two weeks ago.
C
Okay. What is it? Like something small.
A
You would relate.
C
Wait, that was a good off. That's good. That's the whole. That's the whole bit is like something small. I. I remember seeing the commercial. I was like, this is good.
A
Yeah. So it's.
C
Who else was in that besides you?
A
It was like said Cedric the Entertainer and then There was two other people that I'm totally blanking on.
C
Oh, those. The golf guy.
A
Total blonde moment. But so. But on there, I'll be talking about Arby's, which is like, the main gig. And then I'll also be talking about our podcast. I'll be talking about the wnba. I'll be talking about just life in general. So I have, like, a big segment.
C
Wait. Yeah, well, you. I'll put it in my phone or I'll put Sophie on.
A
Yeah.
C
Good Morning America. Because I want to watch.
A
Yeah, that'll be fun. Really fun.
C
That's dope. That's really cool. Well, I guess I won't.
A
It's okay.
C
Sorry.
A
It's okay. Don't worry about it.
C
Did you end up.
A
Did you.
C
Did you end up watching any of the finals or. No, no, it was. It was a quick one.
A
No. Wow. I. I know The Aces won.
C
Sweet.
A
Actually.
C
Clean sweep.
A
Yeah, a huge sweep. So my. My. Actually, I'm not even going to be petty. I'm going to be good. But yeah, honestly, I think I heard it was like the most. The playoffs overall, I think was an increase of 6% from last year. So it's huge. Like, a lot more people were tuned in, which is a huge, big deal for the W. I do know that the Aces ride from, like, losing so much and then winning like 16 or 17 in a row, then like, overcoming so many obstacles and then winning, sweeping Phoenix is insane. That's insane.
C
That makes. That makes. That makes you guys look even better.
A
Well, I heard putting up a.
C
A dog fight.
A
Yeah, I. I haven't really researched this, so I could be completely wrong on this, but I did hear that, like, our games were maybe, I think viewed more than the finals game, like just our. Our series.
C
Ah, that checks out.
A
But I don't know. I. It's. I think it's fun. The W is as much as, like, there's so much drama and there's so much going on. It really has been a really cool year of, like, so many people have been tuned in. The. The players who are playing their asses off and. And at the level they are is just a big deal. And it's just a fun time to be a part of the W. Like, so many people are interested in it and it's fun.
C
For sure, but also not even because of if. If we want to talk star power or whatever, but, like, that your series was way better than the finals also. So, like, yeah, it was a winner take all game five and they went to overtime. Like, it makes sense that that series.
A
Dude, think about this. I was talking about this with a couple people tonight and it's like a couple calls going our way, we would be in, we would have been in the finals, which is insane to think about.
C
I agree.
A
I but I think it's, it's cool. Like the, the adversity that the Aces have overcome has, has been pretty cool. But like, I'm just a competitor and I'm just ready to win. And I think that, like next year. I don't know what that even looks like. I don't. Those conversations haven't even been had because of the CBA is still kind of delayed and whatnot. And so, but I just feel like if, if Indiana were to bring back their core, it would be a huge big deal.
C

A
She's awesome. You would really like. She. She's very much like our type of people. Loves the lake, loves country music. Loves to just, like, relax and have a good time.
C
Where'd she go to school?
A
She went to Stanford with her twin sister.
C
Oh, oh, oh, we'll just double trouble.
A
You know, Debbie Trubby, Lexi has a fiance, Will. He's awesome. And her sister has a great boyfriend, so. Sorry, bud.
C
It's all good.
A
It's like you're looking for anything anyway.
C
No.
A
No.
C
Okay. You're right. I'm happy for her.
A
Congrats, Lexi.
C
Wow.
A
You have a fiance, Lexi.
C
That's really awesome. Will you be in the wedding?
A
No, I don't think so. No or no? I would definitely not be.
C
You think. Do you think you'll get invited?
A
I don't think so. I think I love Lex. Like, I really do like her. I wouldn't expect to be invited to the wedding, but I think that they would. They're gonna have a beautiful wedding, and they're just fun, fun people. But I don't. I didn't. That does not hurt my feelings at all. Like, I just met her.
C
No, that's good. No. Yeah. But also then, like.
A
Yeah.
C
What is she gonna invite. Yeah, yeah. Then you have to invite the whole team if you get invited.
A
I think they're gonna do an.
C
That does get tricky, though.
A
It does, but I. You know, I kind of think about. Okay, let's think about it. If we got engaged and we got married, would you invite all the summer house people?
C
Well, so. Okay, so that's great question. The. I think everyone that I've done it with the whole time, I would like, from my first year to now.
A
Well, it's going to be interesting to see who's still there now.
C
I agree, but I. Those are, like. I consider them all, like, very close friends at this point.
A
You do, you know?
C
Yeah. Yeah. Oh.
A
Do you kind of feel like this show has brought you some lifelong friends that you have been missing?
C
Jesse's not. Not missing.
A
I. I not missing, but, like, that you can appreciate now, I guess.
C
I mean. Yeah, I just took Jesse to my college town for three days and, like, let him, like, go crazy. Like, that was. Yeah, that's because we like each other, you know, But I'll also say that, like, because you. Same, same. I mean, you'll, like, get this, but, like, you go through such a weird, unique experience with people. It kind of just bonds you.
A
Yeah.
C
Because other people don't get it, so you can't relate.
A
Yeah.
C
Have, like. You just have a weird attachment to these people because you only. You guys get it, you know?
A
Yeah. Yeah.
C
Oh, so.
A
Yeah.
C
It's cute.
A
Wait, so did you. If you flew out on Thursday, did you still do your kickball game?
C
No, I missed it. All of our guys. All of our guys were gone. All of our guys were, like. Half of our dudes were, like, out of town. But the report back I got was that we put up a good fight.
A
Everyone gets a trophy.
C
We were missing a lot of people, and it sounded like we. We gave them. We gave them a little fight, you know, but there's always next week, which is two days away.
A
I like your mind.
C
I think we have to win to make playoffs, which makes it scary.
A
We have a big announcement to share. We are so excited.
C
Arby's is coming on board as the presenting partner of the Show Me Something podcast.
A
We love Arby's, and we've got big plans in store for our fans.
B
Whoa.
C
What you got right there? Wow.
A
I know.
C
Arby's is introducing a new way to nugget.
A
If you are meat obsessed, Arby's has got you with their new nuggets.
C
I love a nugget because I can dip them in sauce. Dude, it's my favorite thing.
A
With these. You don't even need sauce.
C
This is steak you can take anywhere. Making the world your steakhouse.
A
Your nugget just got steak twist.
C
How's your knee?
A
Oh, actually, I did some really tough rehab today, and it was really good. Really, really good. Actually. I've been. I've been. I'm just actually really motivated, and I think I'm at a really good spot in my life where, like, I'm just excited to just, like, pour into my body, pour into things that I enjoy. And I'm just so excited for this upcoming season because I just. I don't. I don't know where I'm going to be, and I just feel like in the w. Your. Your golden years, I would say, is anywhere from 28 to 34, so. But I'm a late bloomer, and so I'm starting to. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm starting to just, like, be more confident and just be a vet and do all that. And so at the end of the day, I'm Just, like, really, I think. I know this sounds, like, dumb, and I don't want to get too deep here, but, like, at the end of the day, I'm so blessed to get to dribble a damn basketball for a living. So why would I not embrace and just, like, pour into my body more than ever? And so I started a new diet today. Like, I'm locking in.
C
Oh, that's big for you. You started a new diet while we're fully sponsored by Arby's today.
A
Yeah.
C
Which is beautiful.
A
Well, they might still be in my diet.
C
I.
A
It's. I do. Yeah.
C
You had to work in the roast beef.
A
I do the. I do the 8020 rule. Like, 80 of the time. Do good 20 of the time. Just enjoy your life.
C
We had a Dietitian Tell us 8020 my freshman year, and I've never forgot it. He said, you could either be 8020 every day, you could be 8020 during the week or 8020 by the month. Just do 80 20.
A
Like, literally. I think that is, like, because you want to eat good. And I just feel better when I take care of my body. Duh. But I also think, like, also enjoy life. Like, eat the dessert, drink. Drink the wine.
C
Yeah, yeah. Try to be healthy. But, like, oh, my. If you have. If you have ice cream, you're fine. The WNBA season is over, and you finished your first year on a new team.
A
Yeah.
C
So, like, I guess looking back, now that you've been in two different places, like pros, cons, do you feel like the transition, like, wasn't that crazy? Is it just still playing basketball or is it. Was it, like, entirely different organizations?
A
Yeah, I think. Great question. I think that there are so many. I'm someone who is just, like, I love to be where my two feet are at, and so I. And I love to see the positive in things. Like, I'm just that type of person, happy, go, lucky, go with the flow type of thing. But I will say, being in Phoenix, the city was absolutely amazing. And, like, the people that I met here, lifelong friends, and just like, the mountains, the sun, having warm weather, the restaurants, like, the. The city of Phoenix is hands down one of my favorite.
C
Nascar. Hell, yeah, nascar.
A
I got asked to go drive in nascar. Oh, shit. Remember when we went.
C
That's why I said it.
A
Oh, I'm so sorry. Well, they asked me recently to, like, go actually be in a NAS car.
C
Yeah, you should do it.
A
Yeah, that'd be fun. But this city just has so much to offer, and there's always something going On. And I love that. I really do love that.
C
Yeah.
A
Indiana, I think the basketball piece and the way that the Midwest people and culture love their sports teams, hands down. Yes. You can't compare. You literally can't compare. And so I am just so, so lucky to be a part of two great organizations. And I have loved Indiana. I've loved the. The team that I was on, the people, the way that the fans treated us, not only in Indiana, but everywhere we went. It was. It was amazing. And so I really have had a really amazing experience on. On both teams. So, like, I'm. I'm lucky because a lot of people don't have that. A lot of people have really shitty situations. So I'm. I'm lucky.
C
Right? That's beautiful. It is actually also not to take away from you. The Colts are ripping. Dude, right now.
A
I.
C
The Colts are ripping out.
A
Well, they kind of. I had the game on last night and I turned it on because I was at something that I came home and they were fucking losing. And I was like, what are we doing? What are we doing? Did you watch the game?
C
Are you talking about the Colts or the Chiefs? You said we, so I need to know.
A
Colts.
C
Okay, well, be careful with we.
A
All right. As. I'm all right, bud.
C
I. Cardinals are salty. This. Chug it away.
A
Yeah, but, like, the Colts could not. They should not have even been close to the Cardinals. I feel like. Wait, can we talk about this? Because this is more your expertise. Like, are the Colts actually good? Are they just not getting tested yet?
C
No. Being. What are they? 5 and 4 and 1. Being 4 and 1 in the NFL is not easy at all.
A
No, I'm not taking away from that. I'm just saying, like, are. Have they played top tier teams that, like, they test maybe their weaknesses?
C
The Internet, as you know, are so quick to, like, try to tear teams down who are, like, doing well to be like, they're frauds. The teams everybody suck. If you're 4 and 1 in the NFL, you're good. You have, like, NFL wins are really hard. So, like, we are not gonna. We're not gonna be. Be those people who are like, they're. They're frauds. They suck. Like, let's shit on every team who wins. Who wins a game.
A
Yeah.
C
No, so I. I'm saying that, like, yes, I. I would imagine that there's a ceiling with Daniel Jones as their qb.
A
But what is his story?
C
Does not. Okay. Played quarterback at Duke.
A
Oh.
C
Then drafted by the Giants. Um, not like, fine, but just. He might have won. I, I, I think they won a playoff game in Minnesota maybe, but like, just not the guy really there. If you smoke or dip, I'm going to give you a few good reasons to try Zinn Zyn Nicotine Pouches first, it's America's number one nicotine pouch brand, and Zynn offers a robust rewards program. There's a lot of options for nicotine satisfaction, but there's only one Zyn. So if you go to zyn.com find that's z y n.com find to find Zyn at a store near you. This product does contain nicotine. C
And the, the last like two or three years, the NFL has had so many quarterbacks that were like kind of thrown away by the, their like original franchise or like their second or third team and then they just end up in a new city, on a new team and for whatever reason, that quarterback, that team, yeah, Baker, perfect example, killing it. And they just, it just works. Sam Darnold has done it now in Minnesota and Seattle. Like there are just a lot of quarterbacks who like it just kind of all the puzzle pieces fall together at the right time and they let it absolutely rip. And so he's the guy right now you saying that.
A
I think that is so important that a lot of people do not understand that like everyone who gets drafted are really fucking great athletes. Really great athletes. But I think when you're at this level, you have to be able to adjust fast. And the system that you're drafted in, in the situation you're drafted in will hands down make or break your career. And a lot of people don't understand that. But I, but I really don't think a lot of people understand that like if you're in the wrong system, it doesn't matter how good you are, you're not going to be successful on that team. You know what I'm saying?
C
Do you not think though? Yes, I do think basketball allows individual players to take over to like propel a team more so than one good player on a football team does. Whereas like no matter where, like I, I would Im a healthy Caitlyn or like a healthy LeBron, wherever they go, that team will probably be above.500.
A
Yep.
C
But is that fair to say?
A
Yes, but I think that the reason behind that is because those types of athletes, they get to come into an organization, they have the green light and they can do whatever they want. Where that is very rare to get drafted and be able to control the whole system.
C
Right. Was CC making decisions like. Yeah, yeah.
A
As she should. As she should. But I also think that like they.
C
Oh, that's crazy. I didn't real, I didn't realize that. I just, she's just young. I just didn't think that, that.
A
But, but when you have a generational talent like that, she should have a lot to say of the system. I also think when you have, like when she got in with Kelsey Mitchell, like those two, they, it is very interesting to see how that they have. It is interesting to see how they've grown to be teammates because both of them need the ball in their hands. But I think that they have played together enough that they both get that opportunity. And when they both can elevate each other, that team is unstoppable. You get what I'm saying?
C
And yeah, also I guess you guys played at Iowa. This is year. Like, so what am I, I, I, I'm an idiot for not even thinking about that. But like, that's huge. I mean, yes, of course we do have a little special sponsor friend because all of our odds are brought to us by the good folks at Hard Rock Bet. And I wanted to give them a little POV into my brain for this week. The Chiefs are actually, The Chiefs are 12 point favorites against the Raiders on Sunday, which is going to be the first like, kind of dud team that they, they're playing. But, but 12 is a lot of points, especially in the NFL. And I think they have two big games coming up after against the Commanders and then the Bills. I think Coach Reed's going to keep his cards close to his chest and this is going to be one of those Chiefs games where you're like, oh my God, they're going to just make it interesting until the last play and then win by, you know, three on the final seconds. So I am going against the Chiefs this week. As far as the spread is concerned, I would take the Raiders here plus 12. The Chiefs will win like Chiefs Chiefs moneyline. But I just, it's more me trying to, you know, be realistic. You know, he's gonna be, he's gonna baby walk them in this game and give her she like a few targets and then really let him fly the next two weeks.
A
So I like this, I like that, and I like that your, your ego is not so big that you can like actually be honest about that.
C
Yeah, I'm not a freak. Some people are just football. Twitter is, is a dark place. And people like, just are so arrogant.
A
Twitter in general is a damn dark place. But yeah, true.
C
It's getting late and we should hop into my favorite segment.
A
Let's do it.
C
Come on. Tell, tell me something. Here we go. Hey, dudes.
D
Love you dudes. Why after a series in the NBA, in the wnba, you guys don't form a line and shake it out with the other team like the NHL does. And those dudes are crushing each other. And you guys are crushing each other. I love your podcast. I'm from British Columbia, Howard Stern. And show me something of the two favorite dog walking listenings I have. Take care of Pals.
C
So I. I can't say anything about the handshake line, but one, shout out to British Columbia. And two, Howard Stern is one of the most famous radio voices in the history of the world, so to be put into that category is quite the compliment. So shout out to this brother, Toby. The question is for you.
A
We're doing something right. And I don't think he's a brother. You should say dude, because he said, hey, dude. Love you, dude. So just saying.
C
Did he say doodle? Okay.
A
Said do it a lot, which is fine. I don't know why we don't shake hands anymore. Like, that's. I think Covid kind of stopped all that, and then we just haven't. I think that we all kind of shake hands with people that we are friends with and whatnot. But that is, like, I haven't even thought about that. That is a very good.
C
It's probably because they know there's people like you in those lines, and if you have with someone, you're gonna throw them a bow.
A
All right, well, in the ribs, then. Here's my thing to that. If you're gonna talk, then back it up, then you have nothing to worry about.
C
Well, yeah, that's what I'm saying is you guys are trying to back it up in the handshake line.
A
Well, that's a lot of those people who do that. They can't back it up. So I don't know. I. You know what I think? Shaking gay or shaking hands like, it's cool and whatnot, but, like, no one means it.
C
Do you dap up, like, before? Tip off?
A
Yeah.
C
With the starting five. We.
A
We all. We all shake hands before. Yes.
C
Okay.
A
Yeah, so that's. That's different than most, I think.
C
I wonder if. Should I ask Chad, GPT real quick before we move on, see if it knows?
A
I think.
C
I think it had to do with.
A
COVID It was, like, a Covid thing, and then you stop.
C
Does the WNBA not shake hands? This just says it's not a part of the league's protocol.
A
Yeah.
C
So it's like, not a thing, huh?
A
Yeah. But I love that he listens to us. I love that he listens to us. And Howard Stern, on walking with, like, walking his dogs, like, that's actually kind of cute and special. That's fun.
C
So cute. I would like to know what kind of dog.
A
Wiener dog. All right, next.
D
Hi, Sophie. Hi, West. Sophie, I just wanted to say you're my favorite player in the wnba, and I really hope that you're in A fever jersey next year. But I wanted to ask you guys for some advice. Oh, my name's Liz, by the way. I'm 22 years old, about to graduate college, and right now I really want to move to a new city where I don't know anyone. But my family is not very supportive of that. So I was wondering if you guys had any advice into moving to a new city where you don't really know anyone. Thanks, guys. Love the pod.
A
Do it.
C
Okay. Can I take this one, Soph?
A
Yes. Yes.
C
Anytime anyone ever asks me life advice, I'm like, I'm not really. Like, I'm not a wizard. I don't know. But the one thing that I can suggest is moving away from home and like, and being uncomfortable. You will learn you can always go home. So many things can always go home. It is harder without your parents approval. Yeah, I, I do think you're 22 so you can do what you want. I would. If you work a remote job, you should be okay, maybe start there and then try to find stuff when you get there. But obviously if you can support yourself financially, you should do it. If you still like, obviously you're still in school, so it's. You probably get a little help, who knows? And that then you're gonna have to like have some conversations with mom and dad. But I can. From a non financial parent standpoint, it is truly the best thing you can do for yourself.
D
Oh, whoa.
A
Hitting the table because he believes in it so much. Okay, Liz, I'm. Yeah, I'm gonna back up west 100% on this because I think that when you move away, you just learn so much about yourself. You learn so much about different cultures, different cities, you have a different way of thinking and you can truly learn different things about you that you wouldn't if you would just stay where you're at. And don't get me wrong, I am so proud and I love where I grew up and I miss home and when I go back, it fills my cup up. But I think the best thing that I could have done in order to get me to where I am today is, is I moved. Right. And it wasn't my, it wasn't. I got drafted out here. So like, if I didn't get drafted, I don't know if I would have, but it is the biggest blessing that has ever happened. Living in Australia, living in France, living in different cities in the United States has just like grown the way my. I think morally, how I think about just in everyday life, like you just mature so Much. And you get to choose who you. Who you are, and I just love that.
C
The one thing I'll also say is I didn't appreciate my home and everything I had growing up and what my home was until I left. Once I left home, I was like, oh, these things make me who I am, and these things are unique to me. And then that's when I really started to appreciate Missouri barbecue, my dad's farm, like, the chiefs, like, all those random things that all your friends care about now that, like, it doesn't make you feel unique when you leave. Then you'll be like, oh, these things are special. And this. This is who I am. And these things represent my friends from home. These things represent my family. These things represent, like, who I am. I. I could talk about this for a thousand hours, but it is so beneficial for you in so many ways, and I can't suggest it enough.
A
I think that everyone. Not everyone, but, like, if you're feeling a fire inside of you to, like, go experience those types of things, listen to your gut. It is for a reason. It is for a purpose. And go. Because I promise you, you will be living your best life, and you will become your best self because you took that risk. And you can always go back home. You can always go back home. But while you're young and while you don't really have a lot of responsibilities, like, go. Just. Just trust me. Trust west, too. Yep, that was good, Liz. I like that.
C
That's good, Liz.
A
Yeah.
D
Hey, Sophie. Hey, West. It's Steve from Houston. So, as you know, the new Taylor Swift Life of a Showgirl album dropped, and it kind of reminded me of the situation I had going. So me and my friend had a fallout last year. Big fallout. And long story short, I was basically living with her. But when we ended our friendship.
A
I.
D
Did not take my vinyls from her house. And it's been 10 months, and she still has them to this day. They're all my Taylor Swift finals. I've been trying to, you know, reach out and, you know, like, you know, try and, like, at least try and get them back, but I get no response. What do you guys think I should do? Should I keep bugging her, or should I just let them go now? Anyway, love you guys, and thanks for the advice. Bye.
C
If they're yours, they're yours. You can't keep them from you.
A
Go get your. Steve.
C
Like, go. Yeah, go get your. We're not saying, like, call the cops, but, like, you're not. You're not bothering her. She's keeping your stuff. Go get them. They're yours. And vinyls are, like, cool.
A
Yeah.
C
And those are yours.
A
Yes. And they just to have those think about in, like, 20, 30 years, like, you're going to regret if you don't go get them. And it's not like she bought them. It's not like you guys, go get your stuff at the end of the day. Go get it. It's yours. Who cares? Make her feel uncomfortable.
C
Yeah. Also, her ducking you, and you're just trying to get your things. You're not even, like, being weird or asking to get lunch or whatever. You're trying to get your shit.
A
Yeah.
C
Tell her to show her this and be like, yo, give me my shit back. Actually, here's my advice to make. If you want to get it, be like, super. Like, not give her the ability to, like, make excuses. Be like, I will, Venmo. You mail them to my fucking house. Like, these are mine.
A
Yeah.
C
End of story. Boom.
A
That's really. That one's a simple one. Like, we. We have your pullback. Steve. Go get your stuff.
C
Let us know when you get them.
A
Yeah.
C
Easy. Call back and that'll fucking do it.
A
I got the hiccups from that final. I don't know.
C
Oh, whoa. Hiccups. Imagine if you come back next week and you sell the hiccups. All right, guys, we're gonna do it. Sophie has hiccups. She can't even keep recording anymore. See you guys next week. If you're a smoker or dipper ready.
