Bob the Drag Queen
My name is Bob the Drag Queen
Monet X Change
and I'm Monet x change.
Bob the Drag Queen
And this is simply rivalry. On this week's episode, we recap our favorite concerts of the year.
Monet X Change
We talk about fairy tales.
Bob the Drag Queen
And we found out what made Monet say this.
Monet X Change
It makes my little gay boy heart very happy. And we find out what made Bob say this.
Bob the Drag Queen
That thing was thanging. We have been concert girlies lately. This year I have seen Lizzo. I have seen SZA and Kendrick Lamar. I have seen Lady Gaga two times. Have I seen any other concerts this year? Am I missing any?
Monet X Change
Who?
Bob the Drag Queen
Diana Ross? I saw Diana Ross. Am I missing any? I need to get my ass to go see Kesha too. Who have you seen this year, Ma?
Monet X Change
Rob. Rob, Rob. Rob Anderson went to see Cash. She said it was really good. Um, I've seen Lizzo twice this year. Marvin.
Bob the Drag Queen
What?
Monet X Change
He just. He just saw Kesha. He said it was really good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, work.
Monet X Change
Um, I've seen Lizzo twice. I've seen Beyonce twice. I'm gonna see twice. I've seen Lizzo twice. I've seen Beyonce twice. And I'm going to see Lady Gaga in Seattle. I'm very excited for it.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'd rather I saw Lizzo twice, too. We both saw it together both times. And I have not seen any flops this year. Every concert I've seen was all was fantastic.
Monet X Change
Yeah, I agree. Every concert I've seen so far has been great. I really. One of my favorite parts of the Lizzo when she did A We hope Pride was when she sang some over the Rainbow with Sasha B. Flute and it was very cute.
Bob the Drag Queen
I want to give a shout out to Jada Essence hall, who I think probably had one of my favorite. That I've seen. To be fair, I've not done a deep, deep dive, but J Essence Hall's Cowboy Carter look is so fantastic. It's kind of like a car. Cowboy cardi B.
Monet X Change
It looks. It looks really cool. I think. I think Jay looks. She looks great. I wonder who made this? Was this. Did she make. Because, you know, Jada can sell.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. She probably made this herself. Girl, knowing her, this looks so good. She looks insane. First of all, I think she's wearing a corset, which you better than me.
Monet X Change
I mean, I don't think. I guess it is a corset, but I think it just more so a bodysuit to lay the belts on top of. But yeah, I don't know. Joshuan made this or she kind of know. She gets a lot of her things made by Joshua. This looks. This also is very Joshua Ponte.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. This look is so good. She just ate so hard. She looks great in this outfit. This could be on the stage. You know what? Actually, what I really love about this? She didn't do Americana.
Monet X Change
Yeah. At all.
Bob the Drag Queen
But it still gives Cowboy Carter.
Monet X Change
Yeah, for sure.
Jacob
Who's the girl from Final Fantasy who wears all the belts?
Monet X Change
Lulu.
Bob the Drag Queen
Let's give him Lulu.
Monet X Change
Okay, girl. Lulu. Lulu's like gothic and dark and black.
Bob the Drag Queen
I thought Lulu was white and orange.
Jacob
I mean, I think it's more about the belts than actually the.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, Lulu was black? I thought she was white and orange.
Monet X Change
No, she's all black in Final Fantasy 10.
Bob the Drag Queen
White. Nor in your fifth element.
Monet X Change
No, he said Final Fantasy. Are you listening?
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, they said fifth element.
Monet X Change
The hell.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because she wears straps.
Monet X Change
That's Lulu.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, Jacob, how.
Monet X Change
Jacob, how is this J as a song?
Jacob
It's the belt. It's the use of belts in the album.
Bob the Drag Queen
You are on your mic so hard, Jacob. Like you. It is in your mouth, Jacob. I don't know if it's a gay thing or what.
Monet X Change
Jacob is deep throating his mic.
Bob the Drag Queen
This the. This is a cool look. I got to say. These video game designers, they designed some really fucking cool. They designed some really cool looks.
Monet X Change
I agree. That's what to me when I see pictures and videos of Sandy. Sandy. Well, yes, I guess Comic Con, they just had San Diego Comic Con. That's why it's in my brain when you see, like, people who go to Comic Con and they're like, Jacob, can you look at some. Some people. Some. Some cosplayers doing, like, the looks like, that's. That's to me, what made Fifi, or, sorry, Jeremy Carey's drag. Really impressive. That Jeremy is so good at drag that they could just make. Or can you look up a Lulu cosplay? See how much they nailed it. Jeremy would just make these looks, and they would be so freaking good. Like how he would create exact. Almost exact replicas of these video games. Really cool.
Bob the Drag Queen
Were there any concert moments that really stuck out to you? What was your. If you had to pick one, the one moment from the one concert that stood out to you in your mind this year, what would it be?
Monet X Change
The one moment that stood out from a concert to me. That I witnessed.
Jacob
Yeah,
Bob the Drag Queen
I think.
Monet X Change
Oh. When Jay Z came out for Crazy in Love Ended n. In Paris, that was a really.
Bob the Drag Queen
That was the other one you went to.
Monet X Change
Mm. They did it at the last show. That was really electric and like, the way that Clara just exploded. When Destiny's Child came out at the end of Cowboy Carta, every. The entire arena exploded, threw up. It was crazy how the original. Cause it was the end of the show. No one was. It was literally the last 10 minutes of the show. No one was expecting that to happen. And when Beyonce came, went back in the ground and came back up with fucking Michelle and Kelly. That was crazy.
Bob the Drag Queen
What song did they do?
Monet X Change
They did a few. They did Independent Women. They did Bootylicious and something else. It was amazing. It was great. Loved it.
Bob the Drag Queen
For me, the one moment that stood out as, like, my moment from SZA
Monet X Change
the entire time, for me, you're saying
Bob the Drag Queen
for me it was sza? Mm. It was not. For me, the one moment from all the concerts that I've been to this year was. It was really electric. The crowd went crazy. I felt so much energy. I felt like I was. I felt like I was witnessing this massive cultural moment in person finally, for once. And it was when Kendrick Lamar did not like us. It was just bombastic. Like, it was bombastic. It was like. And I was a little disappointed because I heard that everywhere else he did it, he did like, three, four, or five times. And in Detroit, he only did it once. Um, which makes sense. Cause they had just gotten back from the BET Awards, like. Like that earlier that day or something like that. They flew in from the BET Awards, like, literally earlier that day. But there was not anything about Kendrick Lamar's performance that seemed tired or anything. It was. I just remember being like, this is such a. An electric moment. It is. It was so fun.
Monet X Change
They not like.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was amazing.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Kendrick Lamar and Sza, why have you
Bob the Drag Queen
not gone to see Sissy yet?
Monet X Change
Because none of the. With my schedule, like, none of the dates that I could do worked out. Like, when I could go, it didn't work out because I couldn't. It was like. It just wasn't working out with my schedule this year. But I saw her twice.
Bob the Drag Queen
Are you still on tour?
Monet X Change
They're in Europe right now. But I saw it twice last year and I just heard by herself. And to be honest, I like Kendrick Lamar. I'm not a big Kendrick Lamar fan. I only know two song Kendrick Lamar songs that's not like us and a Luther because of SZA's on it. So I would just. I would rather just see SZA's solo by herself instead of seeing her with Kendrick Lamar, if I'm being very honest. You don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
Be humble.
Jacob
Humble.
Monet X Change
No singing how it go.
Bob the Drag Queen
Sit down. Be humble, bitch. Sit down. Be humble, bitch. Sit down. I know squabbles show me something natural.
Monet X Change
Like.
Bob the Drag Queen
But I will say this. I was having the exact opposite effect when I was on the tour. I'm not a big SZA fan and. And I did not want to sit through a SZA concert. I know, like two SZA songs. And I was like, I certainly appreciate SZA as an artist, but like, I'm just. I think that her. I'm not her target demographic, so it just doesn't speak to me much. So there are moments where I kept being like. And they were back and forth. It wasn't like one does their whole set and then the other does their entire set. It was like, first Kendrick Lamar came out and did his whole set. I mean, like a 10, 15 minute chunk. And then Sizzle come and do the same thing. And there was some crossover as well, where they have, like their songs together. But for the most part, it was. It was just very back and forth. And I kept being like, I want. I want to hear the songs from gnx. I want to hear the songs from, you know, Good Kid, Mad City. I want to hear the song, you know, that's what I kept. I want to hear the songs from Tipima Butterfly.
Monet X Change
See, that'll be me. I was. The whole time I'd be like, oh, give me, give me sos. Give me control. Like that. That will be me. So I'm like, I'm not gonna waste my money. I'd rather just see my girl by herself.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think you would. Still loved it, cuz. I still loved it. I still had a great time. But I was also there with My brother, which felt really, really nice. I was shocked at how many songs. How many scissor songs Justin knew. I was gagged, cuz.
Monet X Change
But you. You told me his wife likes scissor, right?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know if his wife likes scissor. I didn't say that.
Monet X Change
I think you did tell me that.
Bob the Drag Queen
I did not say that.
Monet X Change
I do.
Bob the Drag Queen
That is not information that I have. I think you made that up.
Monet X Change
Oh, I could.
Bob the Drag Queen
I said, Justin likes scissor.
Monet X Change
Oh, somebody likes scissors. So, like, so, yeah. So I guess I'm like, if he likes the artist, why. Why would you be shocked? He knows their music.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because Justin doesn't seem like a scissor fan. Like, I'm shocked that Justin likes is just. Just like. You're always shocked when I listen to some random music. There's something I listen to you like, wow, this is so odd that you listen to this song. And I'd be like, I guess it's odd. It makes sense to me. But I guess to Justin, it makes sense that he's a fan because I. I would have never pegged my brother who I've known. Now you want to peg. I would. That's disgusting. That's disgusting.
Monet X Change
You know, I'm into Justin. I'll pick Justin.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you want to. Do you want to dick Sean down into the earth?
Monet X Change
No.
Bob the Drag Queen
Anyway, I would never peg Justin as a. As a scissor fan. Like, I've known my brother for 39 years, and I just never thought he would ever listen to. Justin is the kind of guy who says female.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
And if that resonates with everyone listening, you'll get what I mean. He'd be like. Cause females, you know, that's who Justin is. Cause whenever I'm talking to a female, that's my brother.
Monet X Change
I think that just speaks to the breadth of how expansive SZA the diva is, honey. She got.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I mean, I was undeniable. Everyone loves it. Even Nicki Minaj was begging for. Begging to be on the verse.
Monet X Change
She sure was. That was wild.
Bob the Drag Queen
You think showing screenshots is tacky?
Monet X Change
You know, I think when people want to get down in the dirt and play, you got to. You got, you got, you got to meet them where. Where they're at. And SZA was trying to. I mean, Nicki Minaj was on this Internet trying to act like Sz wasn't this. She wasn't shit. Like, like come with all these insults about her talent, blah, blah, blah. I'm like you. So you think all these things are going on These whole diatribes on Twitter, but yet you want it to be on a. Me and my song mean you want. You want to be on one of your songs.
Bob the Drag Queen
M I B. Screenshot Stacky.
Monet X Change
I don't think so.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is recording someone without their consent and then posting on the Internet tacky? Kim Kardashian.
Monet X Change
Who. Who? About her sex tape.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, she recorded Taylor Swift talking to Kanye West. There was a controversy years ago where t. Where Kanye west called Taylor Swift and said, hey, I'm going to use. Use your name in the song. Are you okay with that?
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then Kim Kardashian posted it, because Taylor Swift was like, I didn't know you were gonna call me a bitch in the song. I don't appreciate you calling me a. I might be getting this wrong, but I don't appreciate you calling me a bitch in this song. And then Kim Kardashian posted a video of her and Kanye west talking. She was recording them talking, where she was like, oh, it's okay if you use me in the song. But then years later, somehow Taylor Swift got a. Or someone got ahold of the extended video where Taylor Swift goes, well, I don't like the part where you call something Taylor Swift. Something like, well, I don't like the part where you call me a. That part doesn't feel good. But Kim Kardashian edited out the part where she said that.
Monet X Change
Got it. Well, that's because now you're misrepresenting information.
Bob the Drag Queen
But I'm saying is. Is that. Is. Is recording. So what happened is Taylor Swift doesn't know. Doesn't know the conversation being recorded. Taylor Swift has no clue. She thinks she's on the phone with Kanye West. Meanwhile, Kim K. Is filming them while he speaks on speakerphone. Is that. Is that shady?
Monet X Change
I will say, I think. I think there's. There's nuance in it. Like, if. Like, if I record a thing. Like if. If I. You call me about doing a song and I say, yeah, you can do it. And then weeks later, I'm like. I'm like, bob, I did not. And I didn't know you recorded me. And then I like Bob. I did not. See, I was like, I never said I like Bob. I never said. And you're like, well, there's footage of it. And I. I think that's. I think that's fair, because how are you trying to go on the Internet and say that I'm lying and you didn't give me permission when you did?
Bob the Drag Queen
But to be clear, that's not What Kim Kardashian did.
Monet X Change
I know. That's what I'm saying. I'm talking about. This is. That's different.
Bob the Drag Queen
But what about how Kim did it, though? Cause Kim did something different, I think.
Monet X Change
Yeah. I think. I think that that's shady because you're misrepresenting the truth.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Cutting out the last chunk. I don't know why she would do that. I guess she thought to herself, no one will ever get this footage, but, girl, people be hacking iclouds. Like someone got Jennifer Lawrence's fucking sex pictures. You think your phone is safe?
Monet X Change
Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Unless it's from your burner account in your. In your. In your burner, burner itunes account. Girl, your information is not as safe as you think it is. You're not. You're not as secure as you think, mama.
Monet X Change
Secure.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know what I mean? So I. I wonder. I really wonder who got that footage? Like, who got that footage? How did that footage make its way back to someone who posted in Taylor Swift's defense? Because Taylor Swift seems kind of like the Beyonce route where they only address drama in songs. And they will. They. They will never do an interview or tweet a blog or a post about it, except what she said. I very much, like, be removed from this narrative. Was her last time addressing the drama.
Monet X Change
You're really up on a Taylor flu drama. I have. I have no.
Bob the Drag Queen
You.
Monet X Change
You. Are you really in these. You know a lot about this stuff, girl.
Bob the Drag Queen
Up on it. This is from, like, seven years ago.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but, I mean, I. I don't. I have no. I. I didn't know all this was happening. I mean, I knew, like, the general thing about their beef, but, you know, all the little details about it. Look at you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, literally, the Internet, it was. All the Internet was talking about Kim K versus. Versus Taylor Swift and Kanye West.
Monet X Change
It was.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was. It was a pretty big. It was a pretty big pop culture. I'm very pop culture minded.
Monet X Change
Got it. Is this a real Prada hat?
Bob the Drag Queen
Of course it is. Why would you ask me that question? That's crazy.
Monet X Change
Because you have fake designer stuff, so that's crazy.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is that a real silver necklace or, like, is it, like, a piece of garbage?
Monet X Change
It's not silver. It's gold, and it is real.
Bob the Drag Queen
And to be clear, I have my Versace Crocs, which are. I wouldn't call these knockoffs.
Monet X Change
They are.
Bob the Drag Queen
They're from Etsy. I supported it. I supported it. I supported it. And do what?
Monet X Change
They're not Versace. No.
Bob the Drag Queen
I know they're not, but they're also not meant to be Versace.
Monet X Change
So what are they?
Bob the Drag Queen
This is like Dapper Dan, but it's a level of style that you might understand. This is. I'll tell you after this break.
Monet X Change
Yeah, I don't want to understand.
Bob the Drag Queen
This is a small, independent person on. On Etsy, I buy these. Well, Jacob gets these for me, these Crocs from this lady, and she does these, like, bedazzled Crocs, which I really, really love. But they're not meant to. They're not actually meant to, like, be like Versace crocs. Like, anyone who can see themselves, they're not Versace crocs. It's kind of like when Dapper Dan. Do you know Dapper Dan?
Monet X Change
I know Dapper Dan, but the thing about Dapper Dan, Dapper then was remixing things from designs with the fabrics and stuff. But it. It looked like it could be from Gucci. It looked like it could be Louis Vuitton. Obviously, we knew it was.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, it didn't.
Monet X Change
I mean.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, it didn't. Gucci wasn't making anything like that. I think you made nothing like that.
Monet X Change
But I'm saying. But in a world where, let's say, I don't know, Pharrell started running for Gucci, you could be like, oh, I can see how that could work. Like, again at that time. No, but it looked like it could. Like, in a world where Gucci was doing a crossover with whoever it looked like it could have been. You know what I mean?
Bob the Drag Queen
I think you might be mis. Misremembering, because what it is is now it looks like it could be from Gucci because Dapper Dan actually changed that. So Gucci started emulating what Dapper Dan was doing. And now it looks like it could be something that Gucci does, because he ended up working with Gucci. They hired him as their. As their. As their artistic director or their creative director after one of his silhouettes was stolen by Gucci. So Dapper Dan was taking Gucci's logo and Louis Vuitton's logo and putting on these. On these R B singers and these rappers. And then Louis Vuitton and Gucci stole the idea back from. They took it. They were copying his style, and he was using their logo. So in 2025, it is something that Gucci would do, but back when Dapper Dan was doing it, no one would have been like, oh, this is. This is something Gucci would do, because they. They didn't do anything like that. But now in 2025, I can see how you can look back and be like, oh, this is something that Gucci would do. Because now they're actually taking ideas from the people who were using their logo.
Monet X Change
Right? So, oh, my God, looking at this, is this. Was this part from the 80s or was this first from now? I can't even tell.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, it's because Gucci started copying Dapper Dan. So Gucci. So what ended up happening was Dapper Dan got sued by Gucci because he was using their logo. So you. You cannot copyright a silhouette, but you can copyright an image like the Gucci logo or the Louis Vuitton logo. Right?
Narrator/Advertiser
And.
Bob the Drag Queen
And they're like, you can't do this. But then in like, oh, my God, 2018, maybe 2017, or I can't. The year I'm getting, the years I'm mixed up. Gucci copied one of Dapper Dan's silhouettes, which is perfectly legal. But the Internet was outraged. Like, that's crazy that you did that. How would you take this man's. How could you take this man's silhouette? And then they ended up hiring him to be on the. I think he may have been the artistic director, the creative director of Gucci for a while, but because they were trying to. Right there.
Monet X Change
Wrong.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know if he still is or if he's not, but he still has his. I believe he still has his Gucci store on 125. Like an official Gucci store. Like a Dapper Dan X Gucci store? I think so. At least it was there for a while. I don't know if it's still there.
Monet X Change
Interesting.
Bob the Drag Queen
There's a whole. This American. No, not this American life.
Monet X Change
No, it's. In 2018, Gucci partnered with Dan to reopen his iconic Harlem atelier on Lennox Avenue. The appointed only shop.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's what it was. I know something. I knew something.
Monet X Change
2018, the support conference. Designed by using Gucci raw materials, fabric sprints, embroidered patches and hardware. Dapper. That was so cute.
Bob the Drag Queen
So he. So he ch. So he changed the. He. He changed Gucci. Gucci's imagery and branding and fashion from outside of Gucci.
Monet X Change
Oh, he's still alive.
Bob the Drag Queen
Kind of.
Monet X Change
He's 80 years old.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Is he gay?
Bob the Drag Queen
He. I do not know. But he kind of invented the early 90s hip hop image. I mean, not early 90s, the late. The late 90s hip hop image.
Monet X Change
80s. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, he also did. He also. He did. He did a lot of people, though. He did people in the. In the early thousands, too. I Think he's the one who did Lil Kim? I might be misremembering. He did a lot. He did like a lot of stuff. He, you might call him a hood fairy tale. I mean I'm not interested in, in, in discussing this man's homosexuality. Cuz I do not know if this
Monet X Change
f. I just love finding out people who are so influential they're queer. It really makes me. It makes what? I love finding out that people who are so influential in fashion, in the world being queer. It makes my, it makes my little, little gay boy heart very happy to find out that they are queer people.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh my God, me too. But I ain't trying to out nobody if, if he's not gay. I don't know.
Monet X Change
I, I, I bet I can't out. I'm literally just googling it. I don't fucking know. I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
I agree. I'm not saying you're, I'm not saying you're outing. I'm saying I, I, I, I don't know he's gay or if he, I don't know. I do not know.
Monet X Change
I'm not gay no more.
Bob the Drag Queen
What's his name? Something Caldwell.
Monet X Change
I think it's, I want to say it's not Christopher. Don't you have the same name?
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm Christopher Caldwell. I'm Christopher Caldwell.
Monet X Change
I think his name is.
Bob the Drag Queen
His name is not Christopher Caldwell.
Monet X Change
Andrew Caldwell.
Bob the Drag Queen
Andrew Caldwell.
Monet X Change
Andrew Caldwell. I'm not gay no more.
Bob the Drag Queen
Christopher Caldwell is crazy.
Monet X Change
For some reason I thought there's someone else named Christopher Caldwell that did that is a celebrity. You know this, right? Am I making it up anyway?
Bob the Drag Queen
You talking about me?
Monet X Change
No, bitch. There's another person. Anyway, this is the other point.
Jacob
I don't, I don't. I mean there's nothing publicly about his sexuality, but he does have eight children with different women.
Libsyn Ads Announcer
Eight.
Monet X Change
Word.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jesus fucking Christ.
Monet X Change
Having eight children is a lot.
Bob the Drag Queen
That thing was thanging. It seems like he's giving it straight at this point.
Monet X Change
So today we're talking about fairy tales, Roberta. And I was not someone who grew up with like fairy tales. Like I knew them like, like, like my parents had to read me fairy tale stories. Did you grow up in a family like we were read fairy tale stories?
Bob the Drag Queen
I grew up with fairy tales, but I was not ready to fairy tale stories. But I grew up with fairy tales.
Monet X Change
Yeah, like I, I think maybe you
Bob the Drag Queen
grew up with fairy tales. You didn't watch Disney movies?
Monet X Change
I mean but like the traditional ones like Three Blind Mice or Snow White or like all those like I Do you know Rumpelstoltskin? No. I know of it because I watched that show on the WB when I was older.
Bob the Drag Queen
But not enchanted.
Monet X Change
I didn't grow up with the story of Rumpelstiltskin. I know.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's the one that once upon a time.
Monet X Change
Once upon a time, he grew up like a frog. And then was he the one that gave the girl the spindle on a spinning wheel?
Bob the Drag Queen
He was a rich landlord, basically. They kind of rewrote him as a rich landlord, basically. Wait, did you not watch Disney movies growing up?
Monet X Change
Not really. Like, I feel like I didn't watch A Little Mermaid growing up. I did not watch Aladdin growing up. I didn't watch Cinderella growing up. I didn't watch Snow White. These are all things I found out. You will have niggas walk on the back of this thing.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
People work here.
Monet X Change
You got to tell his ass. Wait, we're at work. They could wait.
Bob the Drag Queen
And we're at work, too.
Monet X Change
Anyway, so. Yeah, it was later on in life. I didn't grow up. St. Lucia has.
Bob the Drag Queen
You'd be having people hammering on the wall, drilling through the ceiling. Where. So I think we'll be fine.
Monet X Change
Where?
Bob the Drag Queen
And where is people walking? Where. Where is anyone walking? Just know that happening now doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But I'm saying you say because you point and go, now.
Monet X Change
Where?
Bob the Drag Queen
Now. Yeah, it's not happening now. But we have obviously been on the podcast with you with drilling and
Monet X Change
drilling.
Bob the Drag Queen
What are you looking at? What are you looking at?
Monet X Change
Anyway, I thought I heard the door. The door out there. But, yeah, St. Lucia had, like, their own little fairy tales, but, like, I guess traditional fairy tales, like, American ones. I didn't really grow up, and I had to, like, learn about them later on.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can't believe you didn't watch Disney movies. That's insane.
Monet X Change
I started watching Disney movies when I moved to America, and I started watching, like, the original Disney movies, like Halloween Town, Luck of the Irish, the 13th year. Like, cadet Kelly. Oh, my God, Hillary. Honestly, run. Hillary Duff back her Oscar for Cadet Kelly because she killed that movie. Oh.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think that's why I'm shocked you didn't watch Disney movies because you were such a Disney kid. But you're watching movies. You're watching Disney Channel originals. You're watching shows that were on, like, the Disney Channel.
Monet X Change
Yeah, movies that were on, like, ones they made. Number three. Ones that they make on the Disney Channel.
Bob the Drag Queen
Can you not make a scene every time someone walk down number three and he'll walk through five more times we.
Monet X Change
And he has proven that he will do so.
Bob the Drag Queen
And what, and what, and what domain do you have over here?
Monet X Change
He'll probably. I just have the domain, but I will point it out.
Bob the Drag Queen
And what domain do you have over here?
Monet X Change
I don't. That is your office. I don't have any domain over there, but I will point it out. And what will you do about that?
Bob the Drag Queen
Super correct. I'll do what I'm doing right now. I guess we're both gonna do what
Monet X Change
we're doing right now.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're just gonna, you're just gonna sit there and count?
Monet X Change
Yep.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're just going to sit there and count?
Monet X Change
You sure will.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then I'll sit here and point out when you count.
Monet X Change
Uh huh.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know that it makes for a particularly great podcast, but you know, I agree.
Monet X Change
So do you want to answer my question about. Get the fairy tales. There she goes. Slowly but surely. Walk around with that dress.
Bob the Drag Queen
What about, what about fairy tales? What was your question?
Monet X Change
I asked you what fairy. What was your favorite fairy tales growing up? Are you listening? We are doing a podcast.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, I'm listening to you counting people walking around. I mean I didn't have a. I didn't have a favorite fairy tale growing up. I wasn't like, this is the fairy tale that I love. I didn't have any fairy tales. I was obsessed with growing up. I just kind of liked fairy tales and I wasn't really looking at them as fairy tales. I would kind of see movies because some of the stuff I was like, I don't know that I would call Lion King isn't a fairy tale. But I was kind of grouping cartoons and Lion King is definitely not a fairy tale. Lion King is like Hamlet. Yeah.
Monet X Change
But I mean the Disney version of it is. It is a fairy tale. So I guess we have to find what is a fairy tale. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I reconcile.
Monet X Change
I think it is.
Bob the Drag Queen
What is a fairy tale.
Monet X Change
A fairy tale. Sorry, I'm a Internet. A fairy tale is a type of folklore typically a short story featuring magical elements like fairies was. And other mythical beings. I would, I would argue that talking birds and cats are mythical kind of these sorts.
Bob the Drag Queen
What's the magic element and that they
Monet X Change
have that they could talk?
Bob the Drag Queen
That's okay.
Monet X Change
Well, animal speaking I think is a
Bob the Drag Queen
pet's life is a fairy tale. Life of pets is a fairy tale.
Monet X Change
What's life of pets? This is.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's a movie where pets talk.
Monet X Change
I don't know it. And look at that. Wait, these stories are.
Bob the Drag Queen
Mr. Ed, it's a fairy tale.
Monet X Change
What's Mr. Ed?
Bob the Drag Queen
Mr. Ed is a talking horse. It's a sitcom with a talking horse in it.
Monet X Change
Oh, is that. You know what? I think I know that reference because of a joke Jada Pinkett made in a lowdown, dirty shame. You ever have that. Like, you may not know something, but because of how it was referenced using the movie, you're like, you're putting context clues of what it is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Maybe I can't think of anything on top of my head, but, like, Mr. Ed was like the 60s or 70s. There was this talking whore. He was like a sitcom, but the horse talks. His name is Mr. Eddie.
Monet X Change
Got it. These stories often include fantastical events and are designed to entertain, often with a moral lesson.
Bob the Drag Queen
So I don't think the Lion King is a fairy tale, Mama.
Monet X Change
It has some of these elements. It's a story with fantastical events, and it is designed to entertain with a great moral lesson that you should have.
Bob the Drag Queen
So Dr. Dolittle is a fairy tale? Dr. Dolittle, where Eddie Murphy, Teddy's Animal
Jacob
does it?
Monet X Change
Does it?
Jacob
Does it.
Monet X Change
Does it take the box on this. Is it folklore? Is it a short story featuring magical elements?
Bob the Drag Queen
It's not a short story. It's a. I mean, it's a feature film. You can make it short.
Monet X Change
Is. Is there a fantastical event? Does. And is it designed to entertain, often with a moral lesson? What is it? Dr. Doolittle. Don't be. Don't be mean to animals.
Bob the Drag Queen
I've not seen Dr. Doolittle in years. I. I've not seen Dr. I mean, I've never seen a movie that didn't have some sort of a moral lesson in it. Maybe. Maybe I have. Maybe the hangover, maybe. But I think in the. In the. In the typical context, the Lion King
Monet X Change
is not a fairy tale, a children's story.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is the Lion King a fairy tale?
Monet X Change
Another one.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, the Lion King is not a fairy tale. Another shares characteristics with the genre.
Monet X Change
Another. Another definition is a children's story about magical. The Lion King is a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think, according to this. I don't think. I would not classify the Lion King as a fairy tale, personally. I would say Cinderella is a fairy tale. I would say Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale. I would say Rumpelstiltskin is a fairy tale. I would say.
Monet X Change
Is Princess. Is Princess and the Frog a fairy tale? It's not.
Bob the Drag Queen
Princess and the Frog is a fairy tale.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but it's not. It's not, I guess There is magic. There's Mama Odie and Doxxo Facilier. They're doing magic.
Jacob
I mean, it's also based off the Frog Prince, which is a fairy tale, obviously.
Bob the Drag Queen
The Princess and the P. The Princess and the P is a fairy tale.
Monet X Change
They say Coraline is a fairy tale.
Bob the Drag Queen
Coraline. I've never seen Coraline. The girl with the buttons in her eyes.
Monet X Change
I've never seen Coraline either.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't have any thoughts about Coraline. I've never seen it before. I just know I would. I think I would know. She has. I think she has a bob.
Jacob
I would say it's a fairy tale. Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think Coraline has a bob with this black with, like, blue tint in it. And she has buttons over her eyes and she wears a yellow coat. Right?
Jacob
Close enough.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Isn't that the Corpse Bride?
Bob the Drag Queen
The Cor. Brian does not have buttons. She is wearing a white dress. She has black hair and she has, like, a white face.
Jacob
Coraline doesn't actually have button eyes, but other people in the movie do.
Bob the Drag Queen
Singing a song about Coraline she's something some. She's a friend of mine I don't know why I know that song, but I think it's from Coraline. And if it's not Tim Burton, it's Tim Burton esque, for sure.
Monet X Change
It seems if someone asked me if Coraline was Tim Burton, I would say yes. They seem in the same realm in the same chorus. Ride is definitely Tim Burton, right?
Jacob
It's actually Henry Selick. Henry Selick is the animator who worked on A Nightmare Before Christmas, which was one of Tim Burton's famous films. So people a lot of time assume Henry Selick's work is Tim Burton because they work together a lot. But it's not actually Tim Burton.
Monet X Change
Oh, wow.
Bob the Drag Queen
I knew that because I remember thinking myself there was something about Carla that seemed like, it's not Tim Burton, but it's Tim Burton. That's so weird. I was like, it seems Tim Burton s but not Tim Burton. Anyway, I guess that makes sense.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Would you have that directorial stamp? It really goes a long way.
Monet X Change
If you. If you. If you have kids, will you be the type of parent that, like, sits in the bed and reads fairy tales to put them to sleep?
Bob the Drag Queen
I would read them books. Not necessarily always fair. I would probably read fairy tales too. But I did like being read to as a child. I really love being read to. It was a really great way to get me to lay down and go to sleep. It felt like a reward to get Something read to me. And if my mother wanted me to get me in bed, then she was like, I'll read you a book. Then it would make me want to get in bed faster because I wanted her to read me a book. I wanted to be tucked under the covers. I wanted to be sitting there with my mom sitting on the bed and reading me a book. But my books were often about, they're like books about socialization, like, can you
Monet X Change
give us some examples?
Bob the Drag Queen
Books about sharing, books about being a friend, books about working together, books about lying, books about why you should tell the truth. Books like stuff like that. I can't remember the names of the books, but it'd be like this elephant who doesn't share his toys. And then this elephant learns to share his toys. And now because the elephant shared his toys, everyone wants to hang out with the elephant. So this is a book about sharing. This is a book about the elephant who wipes his nose. If you have a runny nose, you should wipe your nose. Because if you don't wipe your nose, everything's covered in boogers. And his house, then the desk was covered in boogers and his whole house is just covered in boogers. But because he wipes his nose now there, I don't remember that one as one. But like now there his house is booger free cuz he wipes his nose. It was like I was, my mother was reading me like socializing books about how to be a, a human being basically.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
You ever got stories read to you as a kid? How'd you go to sleep?
Monet X Change
Let's take a break and I'll tell you about that. And I'm black with a capital black. So no, my mom did not read because I would read to myself. That's how I stopped my stammer. I had to read to myself to help fix my, my speech impediment.
Bob the Drag Queen
What about when you couldn't read?
Monet X Change
I could, I mean. Oh, like I started reading pretty young. I started reading from like 2 years old. Again, I wasn't reading like, you know, the fucking Bible, but I was reading like Dr. Seuss books. I started reading them about 2 years old.
Bob the Drag Queen
You were reading entire Dr. Seuss books at the age of 2?
Monet X Change
Ask my mom. I did. I, I, I started reading, I started reading the Cat in the Hat before I was three.
Bob the Drag Queen
You read the entire Cat in the Hat book?
Monet X Change
I don't know if I read it like to completion or if I was like. I could get through it though, like from my memory, which, you know, my memory Before I was seven is like really, is really fuzzy. But I could like read it to understand again. I would be like, you have memories of being two? No, from like, from, from what I'm piecing together from what I remember. Like, I feel like I was able to get through it. Like I remember sitting in bed with a Cat in the Hat book and I was reading it. Now do I remember if I was reading it, like word for word? Probably not. I think I was stammering by then, but I was able. I would pick up books and read them.
Bob the Drag Queen
I just have a couple questions. Do you have memories from being two years old?
Monet X Change
Like vaguely, like very like foggy, like kind of maybe. I don't know if it's an actual memory or if it's something I'm thinking from later on, but I think so, you know.
Bob the Drag Queen
And do you think that you were reading, that you read, you were able to read the Cat in the Hat in its entirety before you were three?
Monet X Change
No, that's what I was saying. No, I don't know if I was reading them in their entirety. But I would sit in the bed, I would hold a book open and I would like read words. Was I reading description, story from like top to bottom though? But I was sitting my bed and read words and I fall asleep.
Bob the Drag Queen
So I have no memories of reading, of, of not reading of, of life before January 1990. I have no memories before that. Not, not my, my first memory.
Monet X Change
86.
Bob the Drag Queen
86. My first memory is in 1990. Is in January of 1990 when we got back to school. I already told the story before I remember. The first thing I remember was, was learning what a decade was. It's the 90s. It's a new decade. Do you guys know what a decade is?
Monet X Change
That's my first memory that says a specific thing.
Bob the Drag Queen
F4. And I, I was reading at a young age. I mean I don't, I think I have a pretty standard reading. I think I, I'm probably a. My reading level is probably at a very average reading level today for a 39 year old adult. But when I was a kid I was reading it in advance. I was like reading more than like the other kids were.
Monet X Change
Yeah. And again.
Bob the Drag Queen
But not, but not. But not at two. I mean I don't, I don't, I don't remember two. But I don't, I certainly don't think I was. But I also don't know what are, what are two year olds doing? Are two year olds.
Monet X Change
I do remember.
Bob the Drag Queen
I do have some memories of like, of memorizing a book.
Jacob
Now.
Bob the Drag Queen
There's this one book that my mother read to me so many times. It was like, my favorite book. I can't remember the book for the life of me. She'd read it over and over and over again, and because. And then I just memorized the book. So then I would say, let me read you the book. But I wouldn't actually be reading going from memory. I would just be reciting back. And then I remember mom. I remember my mom, like, being like, what's that word? And I'd be like, I don't know. Or I would guess. And I would guess it wrong, because I wasn't reading. I was just memorizing the entire book.
Monet X Change
That's probably also what I was doing, too. But I remember. I remember being in a bed, holding a book open and, like, saying the words of the story.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can't believe that you never got read to in bed. That's such a. I mean. But I guess. But if it wasn't kind of your family's thing, then I guess, you know, it's just not Yalls vibe. Would you read to your children?
Monet X Change
Totally. That looks so cute. When I see people do it in movies and TV shows. That seems so cute.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you wish that you had been read to?
Monet X Change
No. It doesn't feel like something I miss out on. I don't look back at my channel and be like, ugh, I really wish I was read, too, you know?
Bob the Drag Queen
How about at school? Was anyone reading you at school?
Monet X Change
I think in school, we just read out loud as a class. I don't.
Bob the Drag Queen
The teacher didn't read to y' all in school.
Monet X Change
I don't think we ever had, like, the thing of. All right, kids, gather around, and the teacher's gonna read to the class. That's not a thing.
Bob the Drag Queen
In St. Lucia, y' all wouldn't sit around the teacher. That's wild. No, we'd all sit on the carpet. There was like. Or beanbags or pillows or stuff. And then we face the chalkboard. We leave our desk, and there's a big space between the desk and the chalkboard where the teacher would sit down, usually with an easel next to her. Sometimes there'd be a gigantic book, a huge book, so we could all follow along, like, sometimes reading. Reading from the book and then turning it around and showing us.
Monet X Change
Yeah, I don't. I don't. I don't have any recollection of that. That's not how school was in St. Lucia.
Bob the Drag Queen
So what do the teachers do in St. Lucia?
Monet X Change
We would get books. And we would sit and we would, like, read as a class. Like, we'd all have the books.
Bob the Drag Queen
But how did she teach you to read? She's like, here, just read. You should know how to read by now.
Monet X Change
No, we weren't. We learned, like, letters and stuff on the board. Like, we learned, like, cat, bat, hat, rat.
Bob the Drag Queen
Shat, I guess. Shat. You did shat.
Monet X Change
We learned shat because on account of us being so young, we were probably shatting ourselves oftentimes.
Bob the Drag Queen
You ever shit yourself? Do you have any memories of shitting yourself as a kid?
Monet X Change
Yes. I will never forget. It was, it was stage. Stage three. I don't know what age, what age that is. It's stage three.
Bob the Drag Queen
Stage three. What is like.
Monet X Change
Yeah, so they go into, like, cancer in St. Lucia. Go. Stage one, stage two, stage three, stage four, standard one, standard two, standard three, standard four, to standard whatever. I think nine.
Bob the Drag Queen
So it's probably third grade, maybe third grade.
Monet X Change
And I remember I had a. I was.
Bob the Drag Queen
First of all, did you start school in. At 5 in St. Lucia?
Monet X Change
I don't remember.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay.
Monet X Change
And so it was recess time. And so I used to get in trouble for being so sweaty at recess, which is crazy to get in trouble for fucking running around in recess. Like, you're getting too sweaty. I'm like, yeah, bitch, I have a fucking glandular problem.
Bob the Drag Queen
Or it's also. Or maybe you're on an island outside playing, so.
Monet X Change
And then. So I would run around playtime, my shirt will be sweat. And they would be like, kevin, you cannot sweat so much and freeze.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm like, so.
Monet X Change
And this one did recess. I had a bad stomachache. I was. My stomach hurt so bad, and I had a really, really, really bad time. And I, I, I, I tried to go to the restroom, and I didn't. And I shit myself like a runny diarrhea in the bathroom. And I was so embarrassed, and I didn't know what to do. And I went to the principal and I got beat for shitting myself.
Bob the Drag Queen
That is insane.
Monet X Change
I think that is why I don't like public bathrooms. To this day. To this day, I will hold my stomach so my bowels so I have to shit in public.
Bob the Drag Queen
So you guys had corporal punishment?
Monet X Change
We did.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was talking to someone who was so gagged that I had corporal punishment at my school. They were like, what?
Monet X Change
I think that was me. Cause I didn't think that was a thing in America. But then I'm like, oh, yeah, you were in the south. And the south was different. But I think that was Me, I was gagged.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's what I was. I remember you being so gagged that we had corporal punishment. But y' all had corporal punishment.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but the Caribbean is so different. Like in America having corporal. I didn't. I thought that it was a federal law that you couldn't do that. I didn't realize. Realize that it was a state to state decision.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I don't know what it is now, but at the time there was no federal law saying that you cannot hit children at school. The teachers can't hit children.
Monet X Change
And so would you get corporate punishment a lot?
Bob the Drag Queen
I never got corporal punishment.
Monet X Change
Oh, so you never got beat by a teacher?
Bob the Drag Queen
No, never. Not once.
Monet X Change
Oh. So you see why I used to like girl like.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
That's why I was like gagged when
Bob the Drag Queen
I said I never got beat by a teacher. I saw corporal punishment. I saw the students get spanked. I never. Why would I ever get beat?
Monet X Change
Because you were telling me how much you would talk in school, how the teacher would be like. So I assume that they will have to fucking spank your ass. Bob, you were a mischievous little.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was not a mischievous. I was a very good kid.
Monet X Change
But you would talk a lot and you'd get in trouble talking.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, but I wasn't mischievous. I was a wonderful child. All my report cards always said, my God, he is such a smart and great and well behaved kid. He just talks a lot. But I was never accused of being mischievous, ever. I was a good kid. I was a kid.
Monet X Change
What are my experiences now?
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, that's. That's an experience that you're having. It's not experience other people have. People really love being around me.
Monet X Change
I just. I don't like being around you. But you are a very mischievous person. As in present day, to quote you, in present day, I don't think people
Bob the Drag Queen
see me as mischievous, to be honest. You could ask people who are. You could ask. You can ask Jacob. You can ask. You can call someone and ask them. Do you think Bob is mischievous? I don't think I'm mischievous.
Monet X Change
Not mischievous. It's mischievous.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jacob, do you think I'm mischievous?
Jacob
Yeah, for sure.
Monet X Change
Thank you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think I'm mischievous.
Monet X Change
One person there, but I don't think
Jacob
that's a negative quality.
Monet X Change
I didn't say it's negative, but Bob is a mischievous person.
Bob the Drag Queen
Are you mischievous?
Jacob
So, like, what about how. When you stole the. Yeah, absolutely.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is Monet mischievous?
Jacob
Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Monet, are you mischievous?
Monet X Change
I think so.
Bob the Drag Queen
What you mean when I.
Monet X Change
When I.
Bob the Drag Queen
You mean when I Took back my pillow when I reclaimed my property.
Jacob
Well, but I would say, what the way. That's mischievous. I would say mischievous. Is that wrong? The way what's mischievous is how you did it, baby. If you were just being like, I'm gonna take my pillow.
Bob the Drag Queen
This is by any means necessary. I had to reclaim my property.
Monet X Change
Or the time that you came to my home and you plot. You and your boyfriend did a whole plot to steal my vacuum. Is that not mischievous?
Bob the Drag Queen
You. You invited us to.
Monet X Change
I did not invite you to me. Saying that you cannot steal my thing is not an invitation to burglarize my home and steal my property. That's not how that works.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, what happened was you said you all could never take something. Then you were like, you know what? Give it a shot.
Monet X Change
I did not say give it a shot. You not.
Bob the Drag Queen
You said something like that.
Monet X Change
Now you're adding shit. You did.
Jacob
You did. You said it was a challenge.
Bob the Drag Queen
You definitely. You were definitely like, try. I have cameras everywhere. You literally. You literally couldn't.
Monet X Change
The challenge to y' all was saying that y' all cannot take something to my home. So y' all made the challenge like, oh. She said, we can't. We will.
Bob the Drag Queen
That is me, if I recall. If I recall properly, and I'm sure there's a podcast about it, and my recall is not perfect, but it's pretty good. You were telling us that because you have cameras all over your home, we could never steal something from you. And then we said, of course we could. And then you were saying, like, give it a shot. Let's see. And then we took it. We gave it a shot, and we saw.
Monet X Change
That's where the conversation ended. That sounds right. I said, girl, I have cameras all over here. Y' all cannot steal something from my home. And you're like, okay, Monet, we'll see about that. That sounds more accurate than what probably happened, which you expectation to burglarize my home and steal from me.
Bob the Drag Queen
You misremembering. Because you. Because you and I both know it would probably go something like this. If we were having a conversation, I would go probably like this. You go, you can't have cameras. And I would say, so you think that I couldn't possibly take something your house? And you go, no, you can't. And I would probably. Something like. So you're telling me that I. So can I. Something. Can I try? You can try. So I'm just. To be clear, I would probably. So just to be clear, you're giving me permission to come to your Home and try to take something, and you'd be like, you wouldn't be able to. And now, just based off of our dynamic, that's the conversation, probably, with something like that.
Monet X Change
No, you're adding things.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I think it might have been. I think it might have been on the podcast.
Monet X Change
Well, you know what? There's literally hundreds, I think at least thousands of hours at this point of footage that if it is.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I'm not going to come back through. I'm not. I'm not interested enough to come back through the footage and find the date and time, but. And I'm not going to ask anyone else to do it, but I. I would. I would be willing to bet that the conversation was probably much closer to what I said than to what you said.
Monet X Change
I disagree. And of course, you know, you always have all this footage that you're gonna. You have that you could probably.
Bob the Drag Queen
Again, I said. I said, I'm not gonna get it.
Monet X Change
I said, I'm not gonna look. You always have this footage. Like last night, there's this video you're gonna show me. We were at the studio. You're like, it's somewhere. I'll find it later. You always have this footage that never, never materializes. So I have it.
Bob the Drag Queen
The footage is here.
Monet X Change
It's par for the course.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, I mean, do you want me. You want me to see the footage now? You want me to Texas City?
Monet X Change
It's part for the course.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you want me to text to see right now?
Monet X Change
You do whatever you want to do. I'm just. I'm just.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm just out of the.
Monet X Change
So then you'll be able to reservation. That is par.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jacob, how do you remember the situation happening?
Jacob
Yeah, I feel like it was a challenge when I was like, if you can steal it, go for it. You're welcome to. I bet you can.
Monet X Change
Of course, Jake. So Jacob's gonna. Of course Jacob is gonna corroborate your story. Of course.
Bob the Drag Queen
Of course he'll cooperate myself every time. Well, Jacob and I cooper waiting because we have pretty good memories together.
Monet X Change
No, because y' all are in cahoots. Y' all literally lay in bed together and think about conniving in sneaky ways to disenfranchise me.
Jacob
No, and you're not wrong.
Monet X Change
I. I know. I'm aware.
Bob the Drag Queen
And we. And you've been bested every time. And still, like dust, you fall. To be a short episode, y'. All.
Jacob
Did you just make that up?
Bob the Drag Queen
Still like dust, you fall.
Jacob
Yeah. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I don't think it was like one of my. One of my bangers.
Jacob
I don't know. That sounds like truth Presser. Ground will sprout. Whatever.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, I took. Well, basically, it's Maya Angelou's reverse still, like, still like dust I rise. And I was like. But also dust fall. Can I just say, I never really understood why she still like dust I rise because dust falls, I think, when you rustle it.
Monet X Change
But when you make commotion or when you. Like, when you're commotion dust, the dust does rise. I think that's. I think that's what the point is. Like when you are a disruptor and you make.
Bob the Drag Queen
But then it falls.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but it rises first before it falls. I think. I think we want to focus on the positive of the. Of the. Of the analogy.
Bob the Drag Queen
Then air, too. Because air. Air can rise and keep going up and up and up, up and up for heat. Heat rises, and it doesn't really fall
Monet X Change
still, like heat I rise. Now you trying to edit Maya Angelou's words.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, she's not beyond reproach. Has a video of Maya Angelou basically telling that girl, like you have. You are not allowed to call me Maya. No, she's on Oprah. And this lady's name. Hey, Maya.
Monet X Change
To Oprah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Huh?
Monet X Change
She said it to Oprah. Don't call me Maya.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, she was on Oprah, and this girl from the audience was like, hey, Maya. And then Maya Angelou was like, I can't remember. She's basically like, you can't call me Maya. Like, you don't have permission to call me Maya. You can call me Dr. Angelou or Ms. Angelou, but you do not have permission to call me Maya. Do you agree with that?
Monet X Change
Um, I think that people can ask people to refer to them how they want to feel comfortable. Maya Angelou is. She can. She can request you. Do you address her how she wants to be addressed, whoever you are? And I don't think that's incorrect or that's unfair.
Bob the Drag Queen
What do you feel about people being like, if you're under a certain age, you have to call me this, and if you're over a certain age, you get to call me that. Like, if you're over this age, you can call me Maya, but if you're under this age, you have to call me Ms. Angelou?
Monet X Change
I think for your body and your. You are allowed to do that. Yes, I think she's 100% right to do so.
Bob the Drag Queen
And what about people who don't respond to it? What are they allowed to do with their bodies?
Monet X Change
I think that they are allowed to say whatever they want to. Now, if she. But Maya Angelou gets to choose if she interacts with you, if you do not obey the rules that she said for her name or how she wants to be referred to by your age, then she also has a right to not. To not respond to you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I agree. That's how I grew up. Basically. When I'm from. We call people older than us Ms. Blank and Ms. That and Mr. Blank and Mr. This and people younger than you. I mean, there's a few. I have one. I have two uncles that I call by their first name, but that's just because of how young they were when I. When we're so close in age. Yeah, is like 45, 46. Oh, really?
Monet X Change
He's that young?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Jacob
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Oh, wow.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's in his 40s. Well, like, when I. When John came to live with us, he was 16. I was nine.
Monet X Change
Oh, wow. Yeah, that's pretty close. That's the same. He was Sean.
Bob the Drag Queen
You and who?
Monet X Change
Sean.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, yeah, yeah. We. We're. We're basically the same age. Not basically. That's. That's. That's not even close to being the same age, but we were close in age or. As my Aunt Hazel is in her 60s, right? Late 60s. I don't know how Mon Hazel is. I should probably know how Mon Hazel is.
Monet X Change
Aunt Hazel.
Bob the Drag Queen
I have. I have. I have, like. I have, like, 14 uncles and aunts. I cannot remember everyone's ages.
Monet X Change
I have three, and I can't remember.
Bob the Drag Queen
You came around three of their. You know their birthdays, though?
Monet X Change
Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Who in your family's birthday do you know?
Monet X Change
Pretty much everyone. My grandma is November 20th. My aunt is April 3rd. My other aunt is April.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know everyone's birthday?
Monet X Change
Yeah. Why is that crazy?
Bob the Drag Queen
You're better than me. I know my birthday. My mother's birthday. Say again?
Monet X Change
Why is that crazy?
Bob the Drag Queen
What?
Monet X Change
Say. Why is that crazy?
Bob the Drag Queen
That's just too many people. I know. That's too many people. I know my birthday. I know my mother's birthday. I know Camion's birthday. I know Nevaeh's birthday. I know your birthday. I know Jacob's birthday. I know Tao's birthday. I know Ezra's birthday. I know Meryl Streep's birthday. Meryl Streep, Layla McQueen, Cyndi Lauper. And I know. I think I. I think I know Mateo's birthday.
Monet X Change
I know my aunts. I don't think I know my aunts. I know you.
Bob the Drag Queen
July 21st. No, no, in June.
Jacob
June 28th.
Bob the Drag Queen

I don't know my father's birthday. It's in June.
Jacob
Do you know Patrick's birthday?
Monet X Change
I know Patty's birthday. Bob, do you know Patty's birthday?
Bob the Drag Queen
What's Patrick's birthday?
Monet X Change

Bob the Drag Queen

Bob the Drag Queen

Monet X Change
October 1st.
Bob the Drag Queen
October 1st.
Jacob
Correct.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh.
Monet X Change
Oh. I know Beyonce's birthday.
Bob the Drag Queen
I know. I just don't mean birthday's birthday. I just don't. Whose.
Monet X Change
I know Beyonce. I know Britney Spears.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you know Taylor's.
Monet X Change
Taylor Swift.
Bob the Drag Queen
Taylor O'Rear. How are you remembering these birthdays? This is insane.
Monet X Change
I just. I don't know. I just. I just know them. I also weirdly know, like, I know your number by heart. I don't know why? Because we've never been in a time where I have to dial your number. The numbers I know by heart are the ones I had to, like, remember to dial before. I guess not before, but anyway. But I. I randomly know my birthday. What?
Jacob
When's Taylor's birthday?
Monet X Change
I don't know Taylor's birthday.
Jacob
Oh, I thought you said you did.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't even know what month Taylor's birthday's in. And he just told me yesterday.
Monet X Change
Like, you're numbered.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, I don't. You can I get. I believe you.
Monet X Change
They gotta beep it out.
Bob the Drag Queen
What's wrong with you? You crazy?
Monet X Change
They gotta bleep it out.
Bob the Drag Queen
I believe you.
Monet X Change
Do you know my number? I'll see y' all later.
Bob the Drag Queen
That was crazy. No, I do not know.
Jacob
Wow.
Bob the Drag Queen
I do not know your phone number at all.
Monet X Change
You're such a fake friend.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't. I don't even know the first three numbers.
Monet X Change
You're such a fake friend.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can probably guess one number of your phone number and I would just be guessing. There's probably a one in there.
Monet X Change
Maybe not.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is there a one? Did I.
Jacob
No.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I do not. I do not know your phone number. I will never know your phone number.
Monet X Change
Wow. My feelings are hurt.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, that's your feelings. That's yours to deal with. I will not take your hurt from you. I've learned in life people will knock you down to have their pain. I will not take your pain away from you.
Jacob
Can we say something to end this on a happy note? A nice note. Do you want to say something kind to each other,
Monet X Change
though?
Bob the Drag Queen
All right.
