Bob the Drag Queen
My name is Bob the Drag Queen.
Monet X Change
And I'm Monet X Change.
Bob the Drag Queen
And this is simply rivalry. On this week's episode, we talk about Whoopi Goldberg being suspended from the View.
Monet X Change
We talk all about Black History Month and.
Bob the Drag Queen
And we find out what made Monet say this.
Monet X Change
Okay, I can say it on my own terms with my body and my mouth. I can do it. And we find out what made Bob say this.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm obsessed. I can go. I can go on about hair tubing for literally. I mean, literally hours.
Shannon Maldonado
Hmm.
Monet X Change
You are such a child.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're engaging with me.
Monet X Change
Happy Black History Month, Bob.
Bob the Drag Queen
Happy Black History Month, Monet.
Monet X Change
Everyone's favorite time of year, except for white suburban.
Bob the Drag Queen
Most wonderful time. You changed the key.
Monet X Change
No, I was harmonizing with you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can't do that. You can't harmonize? Okay, I'm gonna try it again. Wait, here we go. It's the most wonderful time. As soon as you start singing, I changed what you're doing. How do you do this? It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Monet X Change
That was a good point.
Bob the Drag Queen
What are you saying, Jacob? What's your problem?
Jacob
You have a stand up show. You have two stand up shows.
Monet X Change
And Jacob. Jacob says, shut your fat ass mouth. He told me, shut your fat ass up.
Bob the Drag Queen
Be gentle to your voice during Black History Month, Jacob. Just shut the. Silence. Black voices.
Monet X Change
Silence of black voices. This white preserve.
Jacob
Black voices.
Monet X Change
Oh, reserve. Oh, so now it's your job as a white saber. You need reserve.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wow. One black guy.
Monet X Change
Girl, my dick has a history of black men.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not a history, but dick as Jesus.
Monet X Change
This season. Rose, I am sorry. This episode, Before we dig into the subject, you're embarking on a very fun project and we just saw a little piece of it. Looks, I'm very excited for you.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I'm really excited. So the thing about costuming and drag, how much time do you like to give a designer?
Monet X Change
It varies. I mean, ideally it will be weeks, but sometimes it's days and sometimes you Tell them weeks and you get days anyway. So true. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, when you were. I think I, I, I don't sew at the level. I've never sewn anything that took more than a day to make.
Monet X Change
Like, I've never been selling for days my Mortal Kombat. Look, you had me. That was one night. You know, you started the day before, before your gig, then we went back to your house after you get. You finished it. So it was technically two days.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, yeah. But yeah, we were like, we were like. It was like on the way to a thing and it was literally. It's hard. And some fucking leg warmers and a mask.
Monet X Change
And the gauntlets.
Bob the Drag Queen
And the gauntlets.
Shannon Maldonado
Yeah.
Monet X Change
That kept on sliding down.
Bob the Drag Queen
You sound so ungrateful. You sound so ungrateful. I want to see you today try to make that costume.
Monet X Change
I can make that a costume. Are you joking?
Bob the Drag Queen
You think it'd be better than the one I made?
Monet X Change
Absolutely it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Would you think that on this day you can make one better than what I made you?
Monet X Change
Absolutely.
Bob the Drag Queen
And how do you, how do you intend to prove this?
Monet X Change
I mean, I don't, because I don't plan on ever sewing again. But if I need.
Bob the Drag Queen
You don't sew anymore.
Monet X Change
No, I never liked sewing. I did it because I had to for work. I literally had to sew.
Bob the Drag Queen
I kind of. Sometimes I like it. I fantasize about sewing sometimes.
Monet X Change
Okay. Fantasize about sewing.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
They jerk off and come over the garment. Yeah. No, I fantasize about making something really elaborate, but the truth is, I don't actually have that skill set. So I've been working with a lot of designers to try to get this look together that I'm doing for, like, it took, like, I don't even. 30 minutes. No, no, 30. I. I found out they were doing the whole thing in, like, a few days, which is not the tea.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Hun tea.
Monet X Change
That's not the tea. Hun tea. So make.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was talking to Godoy last night. We keep bringing up on the podcast,
Monet X Change
I love Godoy and Danny Godoy. Shout out to Godoy, one of the fiercest direct performers in la. So good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Very funny.
Monet X Change
Very funny. I was telling. I was at Godoy's house because Godoy's making me sound for something. And then I was like, what do you not do? Because. Because he can style hair really well. Yeah, he can sew. He's a good performer.
Bob the Drag Queen
Very funny.
Monet X Change
And I don't, I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
That could do it. I've never seen good toy hold A microphone and talk, though.
Monet X Change
I know.
Bob the Drag Queen
So maybe that's where the talent stops.
Monet X Change
But he said he's good at that, too. So I was like, you one of those queens that's, like, that can do
Bob the Drag Queen
all the things, you know, Godoy can't do? Reach stuff on the top.
Monet X Change
Oh, wow. Shade Goodoy. You talking to Goodoy Goodoy.
Bob the Drag Queen
Sweet little. A sweet little 5:2 drag queen here in LA. And we were talking about, like, pulling off, like, some sort of, like, gorilla fashion stunt.
Monet X Change
Gorilla fashion.
Bob the Drag Queen
So I was inspired kind of basically by Cruella De Vil. The Cruella De Vil movie. Have you seen it yet?
Monet X Change
Oh, yeah. With all her little fears. The one where the garbage truck pulls out the garment.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. So you, like, do stunts in public, but with fashion.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, you cause a scene somehow. And I was like, would this be a good idea? You do a scavenger hunt, like, online, and everyone has to go to, like, I don't know. The scavenger hunt will be clues, and you'll end up at Dave's Hot Chicken, right? Then you get to Dave's Hot Chicken, you'll look under a chair, and then there's one thing, and it's like, all right, now go to, I don't know, Koreatown. It's like some store in Koreatown. Then you get there, and then it's like, now you gotta go to Mickey's. And we hug.
Monet X Change
We know the scavenger works, Bob. Not describing to us a scavenger hunt, nigga. We don't.
Bob the Drag Queen
Anyway, then at the end of the scavenger hunt, there is a guerrilla fashion show. Like a Runway fashion show. But you didn't know you have to, like, go on this hunt, and everyone's, like, kind of going all together, and then you get there, and then it's like this big, like. Like, Runway. You're just going to a show. It's just, like, fun. You're just going to a show.
Monet X Change
Bitch, if you send me around the city, there needs to be a me. Watching y'. All wearing nice clothes is not a prize for me.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, clearly you don't value fashion.
Monet X Change
I do value fashion. Clearly I do. Honey, look at this fashion I'm wearing now. Honey, you could never.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is a very nice sweater.
Monet X Change
Thank you.
Bob the Drag Queen
Sweatshirt. It's not a sweater. I tricked you. You fell for that.
Monet X Change
Are you wearing a jumper? Love?
Bob the Drag Queen
Is that they say in the UK you win a jumper, you actually look a little British right now.
Monet X Change
I look British?
Bob the Drag Queen
You look a little British. You're. You're giving very Very British. Oh, yeah.
Monet X Change
How am I giving British?
Bob the Drag Queen
It's the chain. The. The. The. The. The jumper. The. It's the chain and the jumper and the hat. It's just. It's just giving. It's giving, you know,
Monet X Change
so he's saying, like some black chav.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is that the word they're saying? Is that what the. Is that what the word is?
Monet X Change
I don't know. You tell me.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know what a Chavez. So I can't say if you look like.
Monet X Change
Is a hood.
Bob the Drag Queen
A little bit. A little bit. Little East London.
Monet X Change
East London. Well, you know. You know, I'm British.
Bob the Drag Queen
You like, you would say bruv.
Monet X Change
Yeah, bruv.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, bruv.
Monet X Change
Jamie. Babes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, no, that's. That's.
Monet X Change
No, no, no. The Chaz be saying babes, too.
Bob the Drag Queen
Does one show on the West End. You are not. You and Michelle Visage swear. Y' all are. Y'. All and you're not British. Last time I tried to talk about the Queen. Owning.
Jacob
Owning.
Bob the Drag Queen
Owning the place, you was mad at me. Now you're British now you from the uk. Wow.
Monet X Change
Why are you jealous of my cultural heritage?
Bob the Drag Queen
I was weirded out that you. I cannot believe you had the nerve to call yourself a Saint Bernard on TV today on YouTube. I cannot. After what. After the verbal tongue lashing? I.
Monet X Change
Well, I can say whatever. To quote you. I can comment about my body. You don't get to comment on my body and who I am. I can comment on my body, how I want to see that. That does not give you carte blanche to comment on my body and my physical body.
Bob the Drag Queen
Can't make any comments on your body?
Monet X Change
No, none.
Bob the Drag Queen
Interesting.
Monet X Change
Not a single one.
Bob the Drag Queen
Interesting. That is. That is.
Monet X Change
I'm just saying that is very positive things. And not look into.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm. I'm struggling with that one girl. So. But also. Or maybe if not that, maybe like, we do a fashion show, but just like in the middle of the street. Or like we go to an event. Like, let's say we go to the museum and then we just turn it into a fashion show with their permission.
Monet X Change
Not like a.
Bob the Drag Queen
No gorilla.
Monet X Change
You. You.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're.
Monet X Change
You are going to get arrested. You cannot just go to a private museum and start a fashion show.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is walking. You're just walking. All you're doing is just walking.
Monet X Change
Something about that does not seem like it is. It is legal. You will get in trouble for just doing. For just walking at the museum of a fashion show. You'll get in trouble.
Bob the Drag Queen
But all we would do is just walk like, we're not doing anything crazy. We just go. You just go to the. The museum. All of a sudden, everyone pulls out their chairs, sits in a row, sits in a row. And then someone comes around the corner, just works the Runway. And then. And then the designer comes out at the end, is like, thank you all with the loud speaker. Thank you all for coming to my. Honestly, that could be kind of major.
Monet X Change
A gorilla fashion show. I mean, but about Cruella De Ville, it was. It was the spectacle of her. Her fashion things. Like, she would, like, tie her lace and it will pull off a fucking dump truck. And a dump truck would dump on her as a gallon. Like, there needs to be some. Some aspect of that incorporated into the fashion show.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, she was also specifically trolling someone. She, like, her fashion was directed at a single person. So all these events that she was doing were happening at events that this other person was at.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know. I just love the idea of doing something like that. I like the idea of public stunts. I like the idea of causing a scene. I like the idea of not flash mo, but like.
Monet X Change
Oh, God, it's almost like flash mobs.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, flash mob is Disney this Like. Like, this is like. What I'm trying to talk about is Adult Swim.
Monet X Change
Okay. I. I mean, would you ever be in one? I would be in a gorilla fashion show for sure.
Bob the Drag Queen
We gotta do that.
Monet X Change
I think I need to be like, the closing look, though.
Jacob
Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jacob.
Jacob
Trixie Motel opening next Saturday.
Monet X Change
Oh, my God. The Trixie Motel is opening. Are you gonna. Are you. Are you gonna cause a scene at the Trixie Lounge? I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're gonna call the cops on me?
Monet X Change
Probably. You know, Jacob gonna be standing behind
Jacob
a car
Bob the Drag Queen
over there. Who, the white man?
Monet X Change
Yeah, I would.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean.
Monet X Change
Oh, my gosh. Should we do a stunt at Trixie's launch? Like. Like, like, like you and I have a fake rivalry, a fight, and one of us or both of us go in the pool, like, at the moment of, like, the height of the.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm not getting dressed up.
Jacob
Are you?
Monet X Change
No.
Bob the Drag Queen
Should we fight and fall in the pool?
Monet X Change
Yes. Cause a scene.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can't swim, though. So I have to put you in the pool. I can't swim. Bob, if.
Monet X Change
Okay, first of all, this is a motel. This is not a fucking Olympic size swimming pool.
Bob the Drag Queen
It may be four foot deep. I can't swim at all. Four feet goes up to, like, your pool. Not all of us are raised on islands. Swimming for our four feet is, like, up to, like, you're like, there's a deep end. I'm saying, okay, so we tumble and we're rumbling. I'm also leaving. I'm going on Saturday and leaving on Saturday, so I'm not trying to drive back sopping wet.
Monet X Change
Oh, I'm going back on Sunday morning.
Bob the Drag Queen
That could be kind of amazing.
Monet X Change
I'm down, bitch. I'm down. I'm so down.
Bob the Drag Queen
And this will be released afterwards. So, you know, they hear this, and we did not fall in the pool. They'll be so disappointed in us. They will be so disappointing.
Monet X Change
It has to be organic.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like.
Monet X Change
Like. Like I do something. I. Like, I knock. Like, your drink on you or something. Your Diet Coke. Like, Monet.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm like, girl, what?
Monet X Change
You're in my way.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm like, stop.
Monet X Change
And you push me, I push you back. We both end up in the pool.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is that. Is that rude to do the Trixie, or are we making her event spicy?
Monet X Change
We're giving press to her event.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's kind of like when Amy Schumer tripped in front of the Kardashians.
Monet X Change
Yeah, it wasn't Amy Schumer.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was Schumer, I think.
Monet X Change
Was it Schumer?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, Amy Schumer. She tripped in front of Kim Kardashian. Like, she purposely walked in front of Kim, and then she just hit the ground and, like. And couldn't get up and was, like, rolling around. I kind of wanted. I want to do some kind of a stunt when I go out. I'm kind of interested in doing, but I don't want. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or, like, upset anyone or ruin anyone's event. I just want to kind of, like, be silly.
Monet X Change
I think, okay, maybe we can go and feel the temperature and we can see if it would be appropriate or not. Like, if it's, like, really, like, everyone is, like, really. You know, I think if it's, like, a little more whimsical, everyone's having fun. I think. Let's just do it.
Bob the Drag Queen
That sounds really funny. Yes.
Jacob
Just ask Trixie. And I'd be like, keep this a secret. You want to do this? And it'll be a big thing, and we'll pull it up on social media. I think if you explain to her
Monet X Change
and be like, oh, sure, be good.
Jacob
Press the big old troll moment during the thing. I think Trixie would be in it.
Monet X Change
She's a big old troll. She'll be into it, too.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, Courtney did that. That.
Monet X Change
Yeah, with her. With her big brother entrance where she
Bob the Drag Queen
came down the stairs and her skirt ripped off. I mean, whose skirt opens up completely?
Monet X Change
A drag queen.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, a drag queen trying to show her specifically. And she had a reveal, but nothing to reveal to. It was just her duct tape. It was. Honestly, it was. And there was like a solid three days where I could not. Oh, yeah, everyone's talking about it.
Monet X Change
Yeah. It was smart.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was a stunt. Good, good on her.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Are we getting. I want to talk about black instrument so bad. All right, so I'm gonna take a break and I wanna talk about Black History Month. Is that okay with you?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I'm not gonna take a break.
Monet X Change
My negro.

1-800-contacts. And we're back. I never took a break.
Monet X Change
Yes, you did.
Bob the Drag Queen
I never took a break.
Monet X Change
You did, though. So it's Black History Month. And, you know, I feel like around this time of year. My ancestors are really. Their spirit is coming into me.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay.
Monet X Change
I feel my ancestral power. And it's also my birth month. So it's the intersection of my birth and black history. So I am black history.
Bob the Drag Queen
To quote Lady Bunny, she's black and she's history.
Monet X Change
Oh, God.
Bob the Drag Queen
So what. What is your relationship to black history? Because, I mean, okay, is black history for all black Americans?
Monet X Change
I think black history is for all black Americans. Black history is always happening, kind of. I mean, even as far as 2020, Black history was made where, because of racial inequalities happening in America, it was reverberated around the world. We have never seen people fighting for Black Lives Matter in the way that we did in 2020. It has never happened ever. So black history is always happening. And I think all black Americans experience black history. But growing up in Saint L, I didn't have a connection to black history. Black History Month is not a thing in St. Lucia.
Bob the Drag Queen
So, I mean, I think growing up, I thought that it was. Well, it's really interesting because I am African American, meaning my family is. I am the descendants of American slaves, and I am from the South. So there's a lot of. There was definitely slavery in my family. And you are a first generation American.
Monet X Change
I'm West Indian American.
Bob the Drag Queen
But your first generation.
Monet X Change
Yeah, first generation.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And like. Like, do you. So do you think that, like, you have the same connection to black history? I don't know. I don't know. Like, what is your family's connection to Black History Month?
Monet X Change
Yeah, my family does not have a big connection to Black History Month. I don't even think, honestly, my family, we never really talked really in depth about slavery in St. Lucia and how that affected my family. Where and where we fall in that and how, like, how far. How far back? Like, is it like, my great, great, great grandmother, was she a slave? Like, I don't. I don't. I don't know anything.
Bob the Drag Queen
When was slavery abolished in St. Lucia?
Monet X Change
I don't know what slave was abolished in St. Louis? I don't know these things. And I used to celebrate.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you know the century at least?
Monet X Change
I don't know. I really don't know. I never looked it up.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do they talk about it a lot in St. Lucian School?
Monet X Change
They don't. What we talk about a lot. What we talked about a lot in school was the 14 wars that happened in St. Lucia. There were 14 wars in St. Lucia, and the British won seven times and the French won seven times, which is why culture in St. Lucia is so heavily influenced by French. French, but also British culture as well. The two are very heavy in St. Lucia. So that's what you talk about a lot.
Bob the Drag Queen
And was that part of. Was the slave trade a part of that?
Monet X Change
Yeah. Hold on. When was slavery abolished in St. Lucia? Oh, my God.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, it's like yesterday.
Monet X Change
When won't they buy the maid? In 1834, France seceded from St Lucia to France, ceded to St Lucia to Britain. Following the Treaty of Paris, Britain proclaims the island a crown colony and brings in African slaves to work on the sugarcane plantations. I didn't know sugar cane.
Bob the Drag Queen
That is, I think, 21 years. No, 31 years before the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do not count. Don't fact check my math.
Monet X Change
I was right.
Bob the Drag Queen
65, 34, 31. 31 years. Yeah. So I guess it seemed like the world was kind of like.
Monet X Change
It was one. It was one Monet exchange, one Kevin
Bob the Drag Queen
Burton, one Kevin Bertrand. And so growing up, I. The way Black History Month, because I'm from. I'm from a black area. So it was. I mean, there were these. I don't know if you all remember this. There were these, like, pictures you would have up. And I felt like every school had them. Every classroom had them. There were these pictures of black people, famous black people in the dates. Dates and the dates.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was just their head, their name and the dates they were born.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And if they were alive or dead.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And they were like Harriet Tubman.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Also Oprah Winfrey. Was that. Was there Oprah Winfrey. We had Bill Cosby.
Monet X Change
I don't remember who was on ours.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, W.E.B. du Bois.
Monet X Change
Frederick Douglass.
Bob the Drag Queen
Frederick Douglass. Freddie Doug.
Monet X Change
Madame C.J. madam C.J. duck Walker.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's a great drag.
Monet X Change
That's a Great one.
Bob the Drag Queen
Madam C.J. mad, mad, mad Mama. Mad, mad, mad, mad Mama. Matt. Yeah. And they'd go around and so we had them up. Actually, we had them in our school year round.
Monet X Change
Definitely didn't have that in my school.
Bob the Drag Queen
But at the time, like, during Black History Month, we would like specifically every single day. Like, every day, our teacher would read us about a different Black History person every day.
Monet X Change
It's one thing I love about the View. The View. Do Black History Month, they read a Black History Month. It's called the Black History Month. It's called the Black History Month, FYI. And they read about a famous or not famous black person that contributes to black history. And ironically, you and I were talking about the View and how, if y' all don't know, Whoopi Goldberg, about three weeks ago, they were talking about the Holocaust. And she made a comparison. Well, no, no, she was.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, the Holocaust is not about race.
Monet X Change
It was. It's not about race. And she had this whole thing. And then. So the next day. So I remember in a moment listening to it. Cause I listened to the podcast of the episode. I don't always watch it. And I was.
Bob the Drag Queen
There's a podcast?
Monet X Change
Yeah, they just take the whole episode to put on a podcast. And I remember listening to it. I was like, oh. I was like.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was like, that's.
Monet X Change
I was like, I never heard that viewpoint. I was like, that sounds a little, like, weird, but, like, whatever. And then the next day, they had someone from the Anti Defamation League comment who, like, have a conversation about. About the Holocaust and all that stuff and come to find out she got suspended for two weeks. Two weeks. For saying that statement.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think she also went on. She basically. She went on two shows and apologized. And then they had the guy come on and, like, reprimand her on public
Monet X Change
television, television, international, as I say.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then. And then she got suspended for two weeks, which, I mean, I talked to Jacob, but Jacob is Jewish. And I was talking to Jacob about how he felt about this situation. Jacob, do you want to recant your thoughts?
Jacob
Yeah, I mean, I don't. I definitely think that refers back to her take. Wasn't a. Wasn't like, the best take. Wasn't a hot take. I don't know if it's necessarily worth. Worth all the hate and betrayal she's getting, and I don't think it's necessarily warranted to the feedback. I mean, I think there's a lot of other, like, more pressing issues that Jewish Americans can put their time and effort into. I mean, there are, like, active hate crimes that recently happened in Brooklyn that I feel have gotten, like, a comparatively very little press, like swastikas drawn on school buses. Anyway, like, in the scheme of things that Jewish Americans are dealing with, I feel like Whoopi Goldberg's kind of off the mark comment isn't one of the things we should be putting our effort
Monet X Change
into, especially what people have said on the View, and they have suffered no consequences.
Bob the Drag Queen
I ain't gonna bring up your buddy, but she.
Monet X Change
Your buddy is not my buddy.
Advertisement Narrator
You.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not even friends.
Monet X Change
We're not friends.
Bob the Drag Queen
Does she know this yet?
Monet X Change
Totally. She followed me on everything when I made fun of her for. Girl, please stop talking.
Bob the Drag Queen
Your former friend.
Monet X Change
Not my friend ever.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay, Meghan McCain, here we go. Meghan McCain used to say some really w crazy Especially she said quite a few things about Asian people quite a few times, and it just. It just seemed like nothing. Nothing ever happened to her.
Monet X Change
Yeah, there have been so many people who said so many. So is it. It just seems like, like Whoopi is being like. Like what. What she's getting just does not seem to be in line with how they normally handle misspeakings or ill speaking that other.
Bob the Drag Queen
But I feel that it might be how they it. I don't know. It kind of feels a little congruent with how they handle, like black women. That's why I don't know some. I'm not trying to defend Whoopi Goldberg's position on this.
Monet X Change
Yeah, yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
It just seems like. It just seems like a. Like a big reaction to Whoopi Goldberg. Have you seen Joe Rogan?
Monet X Change
Oh, girl. And I bring up. I. I bring up the Whoopi girl because there was a whole. I was reading this article on Twitter about. I was saying, like, you know, the timeliness of it all with it being Black History Month, obviously Whoopi said on remarks, what happened, what happened. And then it'd be like a shoe month. And just the treatment of a black woman for saying less than great comments on television like how. How big of a lashing she's getting.
Bob the Drag Queen
As opposed to see
Monet X Change
Joe Rogan. His apology I haven't seen. Did you see the compilation of him
Bob the Drag Queen
saying, I'm looking for it. I think it's been scrubbed.
Monet X Change
Oh, I have a bitch.
Bob the Drag Queen
It has been scrubbed.
Monet X Change
They have it.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, he goes, but crazy.
Monet X Change
And then Trevor Noah got in trouble too. You see this?
Bob the Drag Queen
What did Trevor get in trouble for?
Monet X Change
Girl, I just can't keep up. This is the Joe Rogan is. It's the Joe Rogan montage.
Bob the Drag Queen
More in Chicago you've already said is just like nigger. She's calling you a nigger. So like this boy that he's a starts calling them word. There should be a word like especially word. That's our about. He says die A.
Jacob
And there are start saying use the
Bob the Drag Queen
word out the word.
Monet X Change
Yes. Three more seconds.
Bob the Drag Queen
And they couldn't say there's more in this video than there are on the south side of Chicago. This is crazy.
Monet X Change
You know what I mean?
Bob the Drag Queen
This is crazy.
Monet X Change
It's insane. Well, you know, again, this is all because Joe Rogan has this Spotify exclusive deal. And then, you know, Joe Rogan $100 million. $100 million. And he's known for shame for having very shock takes on things.
Bob the Drag Queen
So it started when Joe Rogan People were very upset about Joe Rogan and his anti vax commentary.
Monet X Change
Young people, you don't need to get vaccinated. If you're young and healthy and go to the gym, you don't need to get vaccinated. Meanwhile, he got vaccinated and his parents got vaccinated.
Bob the Drag Queen
Vaccinated. So. So of course, once you say something people don't like, they just start looking into everything you're doing. So then they started deep diving and someone made the Nigger compilation, which is Joe Rogan saying nigger over the course of 12 years. Apparently he's had to have over Almost, I think, 80. Yeah. A lot of dozens of podcasts.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Removed from the platform because of his. His language and because of. I think because of the COVID misinformation as well.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Telling people that like. Like that Ivermectin, can you. Can you sell your device?
Bob the Drag Queen
My phone read, you are at work. Oh, my God, you're so childish. You don't want to do any shots at work.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Telling people that Ivermectin, it's like he's been saying crazy shit. So this is this spawn off of that people like, oh, we gonna find some more dirt on jail. But Spotify, they're not. They're not. Which I don't think Spotify is. Should take Joe Rogan. I mean, he. I think he's getting. He will get his just do for using. Like, you can say whatever you want, but you're going to face the repercussions of that. I don't think. I don't think that they should take him off of. Of. Of Spotify, cuz use the N word. But I do think that he should face consequences for using it.
Bob the Drag Queen
I couldn't be white because the. I feel like the temptation to the N word would just be too great. Like. Like I say nigga all the time. I've. I've never had to contemplate a life where I. Where I. Where I can't. I've never had to think to myself, like, I better try to avoid this word.
Monet X Change
Even around Shangela.
Bob the Drag Queen
I say nigga around Shangela.
Monet X Change
Do you. Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
You think I. You think I would stop myself from saying nigga because of Shangela?
Monet X Change
Shangela gonna dig in that ass when she hear this episode.
Bob the Drag Queen
But that's how she digged into you in London. She pulled you to the back room and said, don't you ever say that shit again, please.
Monet X Change
And you.
Bob the Drag Queen
And what y' all don't know is that Monet took the mix out Monet changed the mix. Money has. Monet has literally not done that mix since that day. Have you done the mix?
Monet X Change
I have.
Jacob
Where?
Monet X Change
I did it in Canada with Priyanka.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's a lie.
Monet X Change
I did ask Patty, but why is it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Why they have all the niggas bleeped out?
Monet X Change
The niggas were not bleeped out.
Bob the Drag Queen
You didn't do the Joe Rogan version.
Monet X Change
How do you feel about Jorge? And do you. Do you feel it? Do you feel Joe Organ should be punished for saying the N word?
Bob the Drag Queen
Let me put it this way. Do I think Joe Rogan should be punished for the N word? I think Joe Rogan will, like, punish. How? What do you mean?
Monet X Change
Like, do you think that Spotify should take Joe Rogan off the platform for using the N word?
Bob the Drag Queen
Do I think Spotify should take Joe Rogan off of the platform for using the N word? I think if their company policies don't allow that kind of language, then I think they should pull them. They should pull them off. I think it should be based off their company policies.
Monet X Change
It's a podcast. People say crazy on podcasts. I mean, I think. I think the big thing is misinformation is. Is what you're not allowed to say. Well, not allowed to say.
Bob the Drag Queen
You can say misinformation, but it has to come with a.
Monet X Change
A disclaimer.
Bob the Drag Queen
A disclaimer?
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, it has to be a disclaimer. Being like, this is not fact. This is. But also, it's really hard to give a disclaimer on a podcast. You can give a disclaimer at the very beginning of the podcast, but by the time this, this one piece has been chopped, cut and shared on the Internet, the disclaimer is nowhere near it. Yeah, the disclaimer is so far from the actual.
Monet X Change
But that's everything. You can put a disclaimer before anything. You just chop the ticks. Like the auto disclaimers before Drag Race about Sherry Pop. You just take all her scenes and put it together. Like I cann. There was a disclaimer just. There's a difference.
Bob the Drag Queen
For a disclaimer on a 12 second video and a disclaimer on a three hour. His podcasts are very long.
Monet X Change
Three hours. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And disclaimer, you've heard this camera three hours ago, bitch, it's gone. You know what I mean? Do I think he should be taken off the. Do I think I'm trying to think really hard about this. Do I think that he should be. Here's the thing. I've always said you can say Whatever you want, but you're going to have to deal with the consequences.
Monet X Change
It's got to happen.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know what I mean? I mean, now Joe Rogan gets to essentially feel uncomfortable around black people until the day he dies.
Monet X Change
And he has a. And he has a black stepdaughter.
Bob the Drag Queen
Does he?
Monet X Change
He has a black stepdaughter.
Bob the Drag Queen
So he has a black wife, I think.
Monet X Change
I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
How do these two white people end up with a black kid? Wait, is your right marriage.
Monet X Change
He had a black wife at some point. Yeah. Jessica Ditzel.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, so that was his wife or she and his wife.
Monet X Change
No, he had a black. Okay. No, his ex wife was black. X. Yeah. He has a black stepdaughter. Like this beautiful young black woman.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes. Jacob.
Jacob
The way that this works. So this episode, we submit to itunes and Spotify for the Black History Month playlist, but it's not automatically on. I am slightly concerned that we are centering Joe Rogan a little.
Monet X Change
Yeah. For Black History Month. It's fair.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think that this is the way the conversation naturally progresses. And it's just how the conversation. You know, I think this is a conversation about the way that black people feel about the state of the country that we're living in.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And the way that things are. Are happening to us. And I think Black History Month is. Think about Black History Month is. Is you talk about both things that have happened to black people and things that black people have achieved.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know what I mean? So you talk about, like, Kunta Kinte or you talk about Madam J. Walker and her accomplishments, or sometimes you talk about people's accomplishments in spite of things that have happened to black people. So in Black History Month, you will learn about Emmett Till while simultaneously learning about the first Rosa Parks. Yeah, I was gonna say the first black Millionaire woman millionaire.
Monet X Change
T.J. walker.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. We played E.T. match Jay Walker's.
Monet X Change
I did not watch the Netflix show. Did you?
Bob the Drag Queen
It was with Octavia Spencer and what's her name? Comedian.
Monet X Change
I didn't see the comedian.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like Tiffany Haddish.
Monet X Change
Tiffany was in it.
Bob the Drag Queen
She plays her daughter work, apparently. And she's a lesbian in the show, apparently. Man City. Walker's daughter was a lesbian.
Monet X Change
Was Madam T.J. a lesbian?
Bob the Drag Queen
No, Medicine Walker was.
Monet X Change
Do you know who was Maurini's Blues? Who? Viola Davis played in that. Did you watch Maurice Blues?
Bob the Drag Queen
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
Monet X Change
Black Bottom. Did you watch it? Did you love it? I loved it.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was good. And do you know what?
Monet X Change
There was Black History.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you know where Ma Rainey's from.
Monet X Change
Maureen's from Columbus, Georgia.
Bob the Drag Queen
Columbus, Georgia. Why are you rolling your eyes?
Monet X Change
Because I don't know if that's true.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is absolutely true. Ma Rainey is from Columbus, Georgia.
Monet X Change
Let me look it up.
Bob the Drag Queen
Ma Rainey's from Columbus, Georgia. And Coca Cola was also evicted in Columbus, Georgia.
Monet X Change
Where is Ma Rainey from? She's from Columbus, Georgia. Did you know that?
Bob the Drag Queen
Why would I lie to you that Ma Rainey's from Lie.
Monet X Change
I just want to double check.
Bob the Drag Queen
And if you go to Columbia, you can still see her house.
Monet X Change
Is it nice? It was rich. You had money.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was a very small house.
Monet X Change
Oh, but also back then, it's small by any standards.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is a small house. But America, they had big houses back then.
Monet X Change
This may shock you, but even plantations,
Bob the Drag Queen
even in Columbus, Georgia, they had a big house back then. But also. Okay, you said plantations. Maureen was not alive during slavery.
Monet X Change
And I'm saying. But like when you think of big ass houses, she may have been alive
Bob the Drag Queen
at the beginning of it, but I don't know if she was. I don't know when she died, but by the time she lesbian during her. I know there's no way she was not alive.
Monet X Change
Yeah, because she was. She was around in the 20s.
Bob the Drag Queen
She could have been alive in the 1860s. I don't know when she was born.
Jacob
She was born in 1880. 1886.
Monet X Change
So she was born after slavery.
Bob the Drag Queen
Just missed it. Shucks.
Monet X Change
Oh, is there like a piece of black history you remember learning in school and like, you like, you like really sank your teeth into it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Harriet the Fuck Tubman.
Monet X Change
When you were like a kid in school.
Bob the Drag Queen
Harriet Tubman has been interesting to me until like it is. This Harriet Tubman story is legitimately the one of the most interesting bits of American history ever. She's one of the most interesting people in the history of this country. The amount of things she did, considering that she was one about five feet tall, she could not read or write. She was handicapped.
Monet X Change
Where's your handicap?
Bob the Drag Queen
She, she had a. She had like a trauma induced narcolepsy. Basically where she would pass out. They would say sleep. But it was, if people were recounted,
Monet X Change
it was very, very jinx Monsoon.
Bob the Drag Queen
They would say. It wasn't like sleep. She didn't like lay down and like.
Monet X Change
Oh, so you seen a jinx Monsoon co opted her. Her?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I don't know if hers came from trauma, but, but I'm just saying that's, that's.
Monet X Change
Wow. Jinx.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was me with that girl, our little winning buddy. But yeah. Hair. Tubman got hit in the head with a weight. And then she suffered really severe migraines, like intense migraines. And she would just faint for like. Like hours on end.
Monet X Change
In the I Heard Something series. Why did they give her like, that's so Raven a feature? No. Was it the movie that she had
Bob the Drag Queen
that with Cynthia R. Yeah.
Monet X Change
As a movie. Aretha Singer. Okay. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because she was.
Monet X Change
She was Raven Baxter.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because Harriet Tubman often said that she would get vision so that God would talk to her to tell her where to go. So Heritage had a very, like, pristine track record for being on the underground Railroad. Most people would get like, tipped off or caught or lose people. Harris have been. Never lost a passenger in all of her years. I think she did about 12 years back and forth on the Underground railroad, and she literally never lost a single person. No one ever went back. No one ever got caught.
Monet X Change
No one should shoot you if you did.
Bob the Drag Queen
She would shoot you if you try to turn around. And she would. The people would say that she would do things like, she would, like, she would be like, let's not go. Let's wait one extra night. And then you'd find out that the house that she was going to go to next, they were like, oh, my God, the cop showed up yesterday. And like, if you guys would have came here yesterday, they would have like, they were. They were doing raids. This is so crazy. I don't know how you all didn't come yesterday, but you. But you really say. You really. You really dodged a bullet here. And then she ended up also being a scout for the US Military. She was a spy. She was the first woman to ever be a spy for the US Military. The first woman to lead a mission and heritage. I've been freed about. Yes, Harrison freed. Roughly. The. The numbers vary. Who's reporting it between 600 and 800 slaves. But what people don't know is that most of them were all in one day. I mean, one like journey. That's what most people don't realize. It wasn't on her journey that she did most of this. It was on her trip back to this. It was she. So she. Because she knew all the routes and she knew everyone and. But she was so. Thing is, she also wasn't a celebrity at the time. She was a. It was a. It was literally like she was a superhero. She had a nickname like Moses and all this stuff, but. But not everyone knew was her.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
The girls who know that, you know, if you know, you know, the girls who get it, get It. It was very that. So Harriet Tubman used her connections while she was also working as, like, a dishwasher. And, like, she would cook food to sell to the soldiers. And they were like, it's Harriet Tubman. Like, she literally knows her way all the way from Maryland to Canada. Like this knows where she's at. She is the General. She's literally. They called her the General.
Monet X Change
So Harriet, what a workout plan girl, right?
Bob the Drag Queen
So Harriet Tubman ended up going back and raiding the Combahee river raids, where she did three. She hit up three different plantations. So a bunch of soldiers would go to one plantation, take it over, and free the slaves. And they were like, now you can join us. And then they go to the next one. And now they have double the slaves, take it over, go to the next one, and do the same thing. So that's what people don't realize, that most of the slaves she free. She did all in one day. And she's the first woman to ever lead a US Military mission.
Monet X Change
Look at Harriet.
Bob the Drag Queen
And she was five feet tall.
Monet X Change
And that's our Black History Month, FYI, featuring Bob the Drag Queen on Harriet Tubman.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm obsessed. I could go. I could go on about Harriet Tubman for a literal. I mean, me, literally hours. I am obsessed with.
Monet X Change
What was the middle name?
Bob the Drag Queen
Her name was Araminta Ross. She didn't have a middle name.
Monet X Change
So with Harriet from Harry's.
Bob the Drag Queen
Her mother's name.
Monet X Change
Her pseudonym.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
So her. So when she became free, she chose a new name because you don't want to get caught. Especially later on, the Fugitive. The Fugitive Slave act came out, which basically said that anyone who. So you said to go up to Pennsylvania.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
And once you go to Pennsylvania, you were free.
Monet X Change
No, wasn't. It wasn't the line.
Bob the Drag Queen
Pennsylvania, which is in Pennsylvania.
Monet X Change
I thought it was in Washington, D.C. like, around Maryland.
Bob the Drag Queen
Pennsylvania. So you get to Pennsylvania, then once you made it into Pennsylvania, Maryland. There were slaves in Maryland, by the way. So, you know, you don't want to get them if you're in Maryland. Keep running, keep going. Really? Yes. So by the time you got to Pennsylvania, but then the Fugitive Slave act came out, and once the Fugitive Slave act came out, it said that any slaves anywhere in America, if you were formerly a slave and you escaped up to Pennsylvania or New York, you would still have to go back. You'd be captured and sent back to the slave owner, which is why people started going all the way to Canada. Which white people start going. Which people started going all the way up there. So I mean, she just had to figure it out. It's like so crazy, all the stuff that she did. So when she got free, you choose a new name because you don't want people to find you. You don't want people looking for our mentor.
Monet X Change
Right, right.
Bob the Drag Queen
Or Minty. Then she's like, I don't know. I don't know about her name. Minty. My name is Harriet Tubman, which is her mother's name.
Monet X Change
Harriet Tubman. Yep.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Growing up, I remember what I, what I. What I. What people in black history. What I was deducing from how they were spelling black history to me was that Malcolm X was bad. Martin Luther King was good. Did you ever have that?
Jacob
Not that.
Monet X Change
Not that Malcolm X was bad, but that he was like the radical mean one. And Martin Luther King obviously was often about peace and he was a pastor and etc.
Bob the Drag Queen
What I was told that Martin Luther King was a pacifist and that Malcolm X was by any means necessary. So that's how it was sold to me, which I.
Monet X Change
In school, when they painted it like, Malcolm X is the bad guy. He is. He like, he is how you do not want to do black liberation.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's not how they teach you in Atlanta.
Monet X Change
That's how I felt in school, for sure.
Bob the Drag Queen
But I mean, they say by any necessary. But that's also what Malcolm X said. Malcolm X said. So it wasn't like, you know, people were putting words in. I'm sure someone put words in their mouth over at some point. But I was taught that they had very opposing views and that Martha King was like, turn the other cheek. And Malcolm X, like, we. We carry guns.
Monet X Change
Yeah. And I will punch you in your cheek.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I don't know if there's any actual footage of Malcolm X hitting anyone. He was kind of skinny. I don't know.
Monet X Change
He wants to.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know. Who's the fighting type?
Monet X Change
The guy that, the. The guy that was. That was. He just got. What's the word? Exonerated for not killing Malcolm X. Literally like two, like last week. Well, it was. It wasn't him. He didn't. He did not come into crime. He spent 30 some odd years in jail.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, 30?
Monet X Change
Yeah. Or 20 something odd. Somebody years in jail.
Bob the Drag Queen
He. Wait, when do you think Michael Bex got shot? You think he got shot in 2000?
Monet X Change
No, but something about it was like a long trial and he went to prison. No, no, it was like a long try. He went to prison like, oh, okay. Like 20 years after the fact. Something like, that.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was like, j, can you look it up?
Monet X Change
The guy who. Yeah, it happened, like, last week. Like, he finally.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was like, 20 years.
Monet X Change
So now he's suing this. Now he's suing the state of New York for $20 million because he spent however many years in jail. And he was like, bitch. Can you imagine going to jail for killing someone? Like, I did not do this.
Jacob
Two different guys. One is named Protecting the microphone.
Bob the Drag Queen
I am.
Jacob
There are two different guys. One is named Thomas Hagen, and the other is Dream Norman Butler.
Bob the Drag Queen
Did you watch the. The Move with Denzel Washington?
Monet X Change
Yeah, a long time ago. Like. Like, as a kid, I remember watching in school.
Bob the Drag Queen
I remember hearing the words. Apparently, the words that Malcolm X heard, but, like, the. The Q word to shoot Malcolm X was. I think it was like, get your hands out my pocket or get your hands out of my pocket. And that was like, the cue to, like, to shoot him. And when he got shot, it literally, like, knocked off a huge chunk of the lectern that he was standing at. Because it was a shotgun.
Jacob
I know.
Bob the Drag Queen
Which sprays, you know, quite aggressively.
Monet X Change
Imagine being there. That's crazy. It's fucking crazy.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
It sounds like it would be very, very scary. I mean, I've heard gunshots in my life, but never in the same room I was in. Never, like, on, like, a. I mean,
Monet X Change
that's all you talking about. Like, hearing gunshots, like, in Washington Heights or. You mean. Or somewhere else.
Bob the Drag Queen
I've heard them in the Heights, and I've heard them in Atlanta, just like, in my neighborhood.
Monet X Change
Did you ever know that, like, when you hear gunshots in New York, do you really know it's gunshots?
Bob the Drag Queen
What would it be?
Monet X Change
I feel like there's many other things sometimes. Sometimes they could be fireworks. Sometimes they could be other things. Like people say, oh, I heard gunshots on my block. I'm like, did you really hear them, though?
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, there's also an app that you can download.
Monet X Change
Citizens, Whatever.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Last night.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Someone got fucking stabbed around the corner from here.
Monet X Change
Really? Yeah, girl, not by me, honey.
Bob the Drag Queen
Somebody got a fucking. I live in Hollywood is not a fancy neighborhood.
Monet X Change
If you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I walked from here to Me and Answer's Place, and I was like, this is
Monet X Change
the ghetto.
Bob the Drag Queen
Ghetto. The ghetto. This is not a nice neighborhood. This is not a nice neighborhood. Don't say that.
Monet X Change
Are you going to move to Calabasas one day?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think so. I mean, someone else. I think a big part of living in the city is because Jacob didn't want to live in The Valley.
Monet X Change
Got it. Work. You little American princess over there.
Bob the Drag Queen
You left out one of the words. What's going on? Why did you leave out one of the words?
Monet X Change
Oh, my God.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think you know American prince isn't a saying.
Monet X Change
You're trying to.
Bob the Drag Queen
What word did you leave out?
Monet X Change
You're trying to Whoopi Goldberg me.
Bob the Drag Queen
What word did you leave out?
Monet X Change
You're trying to Whoopi me.
Bob the Drag Queen
What is it? Why. Why is Jacob an American princess?
Monet X Change
Are you trying to whooping me?
Bob the Drag Queen
I just wonder why you calling Jacob an American princess?
Monet X Change
Because you said that, and Jacob literally crossed his legs and did this to his ear.
Bob the Drag Queen
But what is the phrase? Like, what is that phrase?
Monet X Change
An American princess. Kim Kardashian is an American princess.
Bob the Drag Queen
I just.
Monet X Change
She's well taken care of.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think Jim Kardashian takes care of herself. She's a wealthy woman because she's.
Monet X Change
Yes. She's well taken care of. Yes. By herself or whatever.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think. I think we both know what you were getting at.
Monet X Change
I don't know what you want to say, what you're getting at, because that's not. Maybe we can see if that was what I was getting at.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think you were kind of trying to call Jacob a Jack.
Monet X Change
What's the. What is that?
Bob the Drag Queen
It's a Jewish American princess.
Monet X Change
I've never heard that term. You know what?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know, girl. Well, listen, let's see. Let's find out if Monet's been suspended for two weeks when we get back. Are there any political figures or black history figure that you wish you knew more about?
Monet X Change
I know a bit. I wish I knew more about Sojourner Truth. I wish I knew more about her. I wish I knew a bit more about Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass has a big. I think that's Frederick Douglass. He has a big statue in New York. Right on one on 125th. And Adam Clinton Powell. Maybe it's Adam Clinton Powell.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's a statue of Duncan. No, I'm kidding. Do you know Dun King and Frederick kind of have similar hair? Do you know what Frederick Douglass's deal is?
Monet X Change
Yeah, he was a Supreme Court justice. The first black Supreme Court justice. Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're joking. Please tell me you're joking. I can't tell.
Jacob
You're.
Bob the Drag Queen
Just say you're joking.
Monet X Change
Wait.
Bob the Drag Queen
Just say it right now.
Monet X Change
Who am I thinking of?
Bob the Drag Queen
You're thinking. You're thinking Supreme Court is God.
Monet X Change
What's his name?
Bob the Drag Queen
Colin Powell. Not Colin Powell.
Monet X Change
Marshall. That's what I'm in.
Bob the Drag Queen
You think Thurgood Marshall.
Monet X Change
I The statue on 125th and Clayton Powell is Thurgood Marshall. That's who it is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. So Frederick Douglass was a former slave.
Monet X Change
He was an. He was. He's an abolitionist.
Bob the Drag Queen
He was an abolitionist. He was a former slave who, after gaining freedom, he was, like, touted as the most educated black man in the world, basically. Like, that was his. Like, his thing. He was. He was insanely articulate, and it blew people's mind that he was a former slave. He, like. He bought his own freedom. Go ahead. I want you. I won't make you wait. Go ahead, say yours.
Monet X Change
Oh, my.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Yeah.
Monet X Change
Well, I was thinking the grandmasters, because, you know, everything going on with the Supreme Court now, they want to nominate a black woman for the. For the Supreme Court justice. And because that fucking. That motherfucker that's there right now, Clarence Thomas. Yeah, he is.
Advertisement Narrator
Shit.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's not.
Monet X Change
He's a bad guy. And people think that because he's a black Supreme Court justice that he has good intentions for black folk, and he does not. He's a bad person. And I didn't realize how shitty he was.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, there's a. There's an entire. So he. Yeah, so there's an entire scandal with. With him and how he allegedly sexually harassed a clerk at his law practice named Anita Hill. The famous pubic hair on the soda can story. And there's even an HBO show about it.
Monet X Change
Oh, yeah. With Kerry Washington.
Bob the Drag Queen
Kerry Washington plays anything Hill. And Jennifer Hudson's in it. She plays a reporter.
Monet X Change
Does she really?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, she does.
Monet X Change
You know what?
Bob the Drag Queen
It is a very.
Monet X Change
And she's very good at Kerry Washington.
Bob the Drag Queen
J.
Monet X Change
Hood.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, Jennifer. Yeah, yeah, she's very good.
Monet X Change
It was. It is literally a crime against black Americans. How they did Jay Hud in the Sex and the City movie, I have not.
Bob the Drag Queen
I've never seen that.
Monet X Change
It is this. It is atrocious.
Bob the Drag Queen
What do they do to her?
Monet X Change
First of all, she plays Carrie's little happy, go lucky, black, black assistant. And then she's like, oh, yes, honey.
Jacob
Just.
Monet X Change
Just make her play characters herself. And also Carrie. Carrie Rash of this. This fucking rich bitch in fucking Manhattan will deliver her life. She gives her. She gives her a purse. It is the tiniest, ugliest fucking purse you could ever give somebody.
Bob the Drag Queen
But did she give it to her first?
Monet X Change
She goes to a first.
Bob the Drag Queen
Was it first Frederick Douglass, after he got his freedom, he ended up becoming a, like, not just like a speaker and an abolitionist, but he also. There's also allegedly a story that at one point, Harriet Tubman Brought a group to his house on the underground. I'm not sure. I think he lived in Philly. I think he probably moved, maybe. I think he moved around. But he also was an advisor to presidents, and he. He famously had a speech with Abraham Lincoln. A lot of people didn't know. Abraham Lincoln was not an abolitionist.
Monet X Change
Really? Yeah. People be. People think.
Bob the Drag Queen
Let me rephrase that. He was technically an abolitionist, but he was not anti racist because he was against slavery. But he was not. He did not think that black people.
Monet X Change
But he allegedly owned slaves. Allegedly.
Bob the Drag Queen
He didn't know slaves.
Monet X Change
That's. That. That have. Did you not see the. The one that. The guy who won the award for playing him in the movie.
Bob the Drag Queen
What's his name?
Monet X Change
Benedict Cumberbatch. No.
Bob the Drag Queen
Who played Abraham Lincoln?
Monet X Change
Lewis.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
There's a whole pardon about that. That.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, I've not seen it. It was written by Tony Kushner, who wrote Angel America.
Monet X Change
Really?
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, my God, I do love Tony. He's really. He's really talented. He's very talented. Pull it.
Monet X Change
Surprise.
Bob the Drag Queen
Pull it. Surprise. Anyway, so Abraham Lincoln was not. Was. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, he was against slavery, so I guess technically he was an abolitionist, but he was not anti racist. He was actually quite racist. He thought that black people and white people. He thought it was laughable. Literally, at one point he said it was laughable that your looks are laughable, that black people and white people would be ever considered equal. He, like, I did not think they should be. That they should be the same. And then at one point, he actually proposed. And Frederick Douglass was like, no. He was like, why don't we just send you all away? Why don't we all just send you back to where you came from? But Abraham Lincoln started. Go back to where you came from. He was like.
Monet X Change
He said, he's a girl, a wall. Build a ship. Send them back.
Bob the Drag Queen
He was gonna put us on the pince of the needle and the Santa Maria and send us back to Africa or send us somewhere. He was like, you always gotta go. You got. He thought that us being here was a problem. As showed up as if we bought ourselves to this country.
Monet X Change
We. Black History Month is being made with this Color Purple movie musical about to hit the street. Well, about to go into pre production. Going is in pre production. We're on the phone talking to Jacob and Jacob was like, colorful with the. They just announced the cast with col. I was like, wait, what? He's like, Vic's like, yeah, they're doing a Movie musical, Color Purple. I was like, no, they're not. I need to see this now.
Bob the Drag Queen
This is going to save the movie musical.
Monet X Change
I hope.
Bob the Drag Queen
So here are my predictions. So in 2023, there are three movie musicals coming out. Wicked, Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors.
Monet X Change
A Little Shop War is Coming Back.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes. And the Color Purple, who's in it. The only person they've announced so far is Billy Porter as the Plant.
Monet X Change
That's gonna be great. I can't wait. What's on that face for
Bob the Drag Queen
Billy Porter's the Flat Horse.
Monet X Change
I think it'd be great. Have you ever partied with Billy on Fire Island?
Bob the Drag Queen
Never. Not once. I've seen Billy a few times, actually. I think every time I've seen Billy was at backstage at Kinky Boots when someone else was playing the role.
Monet X Change
Did you work on Fire Island? He was always on Fire island. Having a good time. Billy Porter will tip you down.
Bob the Drag Queen
I worked at Firelin one summer and it was the worst gig of my
Monet X Change
life with Tina Burner. He believe Porter will give you 500 in hundreds. He'll be like, oh, yes, he would tip down.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, he's got a lot of money.
Advertisement Narrator
He's.
Bob the Drag Queen
Anyway, so. And then, of course, Wicked with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Rivo. But, baby, who's paying?
Monet X Change
Who's playing Madam Miss Marble?
Jacob
Warble.
Bob the Drag Queen
Billy Porter.
Monet X Change
Is he.
Bob the Drag Queen
Have you seen. There's this guy on TikTok who does.
Monet X Change
Billy Porter is playing her.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, I'm kidding. There's a guy on TikTok who does. Jake, can you please find it? He does impersonations of Billy Porter auditioning for different roles.
Monet X Change
I think I've seen it. The Black Eye.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, Larry gave it.
Jacob
Calvin C. Brooks.
Bob the Drag Queen
Billy Porter audition this shit. Every so often we long to steal.
Monet X Change
I don't know who song in there goes that girl. Sing and Heaven knows the way.
Bob the Drag Queen
And Instagram is Larry Gavid. His Tik Tok is the handle is Larry Gavid. We will put it on the screen.
Monet X Change
Right?
Bob the Drag Queen
Here it is. It's playing. You already saw it. It was on the screen the whole time anyway. And I think, okay, here's my prediction. My prediction is that Little Shop will come out and. And it'll be for the. It'll be for the theater nerds. It'll be for the nerds. I don't think they would be bold enough to make that puppet to make the plant cgi. I don't think they would make that mistake after the CGI disaster that was Cats. I don't think they would be crazy enough.
Monet X Change
I Think they would, though?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't. They could. No, there's no way they'd be done.
Monet X Change
I think they would.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I think they're gonna actually do a plan. I think they're gonna re. I think they're gonna rehire Henson to make the plan again.
Monet X Change
To make it like. Like animatronics.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. The plan was. It was kind of. It was. It actually wasn't completely animatronic. The plant that they used the first time was like puppeteered. But also it was like so many things and everything was filmed in slow motion.
Monet X Change
Right. I heard that.
Bob the Drag Queen
And they just sped it up.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I think that Wicked will be for the gays. Will be for the gays. And I think it'll be good. But it'll come under heavy criticism. And I think that the Color Purple will sweep the Oscars. I think it will be an immaculate work of art. I think it will be the best movie musical since Chicago. I think it might end up being my all time favorite movie musical. There's no way. Okay, first of all, here's the thing.
Monet X Change
Do you think they're doing original Broadway music or they're gonna do some of the revival music?
Bob the Drag Queen
What do you mean? It was the same music.
Monet X Change
No, isn't. Man, I Lay me down that was not the same as.
Bob the Drag Queen
What did you.
Monet X Change
What was it? The first one. The first. What's the first?
Bob the Drag Queen
When I lay me down asleep I will say a prayer that God love
Monet X Change
me so, dear sister, what you gonna do?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, that's in. That's in both worlds. Yes. Work, baby, Let me tell right now, baby it's just the staging.
Monet X Change
I was, baby, when it comes to
Bob the Drag Queen
Color Purple, baby, when it comes to Color Purple, babe, I'm telling you, baby, this is my jam. So I actually got tickets to go see the original Color Purple at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Georgia, my freshman year of college. But I couldn't because I was in a play. But I used to be in this thing called the Student Reviewer Circle. So Color Purple opened at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. But I couldn't because I was in my own play. But then. And I never got a chance to see it on Broadway. Todrick hall was in.
Monet X Change
It was in. On Broadway. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And he said that she was the best.
Monet X Change
Fantasia Barino. He said Barino.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, he said she was the first. The best Celie ever.
Monet X Change
Oh, her. I'm here is amazing.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I saw Cynthia Revo and
Monet X Change
she was very good. She was delicious.
Bob the Drag Queen
She was. She was so good. But a lot of people Say, like, if you see Fantasia, like, you've seen.
Jacob
You've seen.
Bob the Drag Queen
You've seen God sing like.
Monet X Change
Well, I mean, have you ever seen Fantasia just. Fantasia can sing. Just sing a song. The abc.
Bob the Drag Queen
But also a lot.
Monet X Change
Like, it's the emotion.
Bob the Drag Queen
She just sold, like, the story of the Color Purple is like. She can just connect to it in a way. She's this. This is gonna be amazing. So we have Danielle Brooks.
Monet X Change
She was great on Broadway, too.
Bob the Drag Queen
And everybody saw her on Broadway. I saw her with Cynthia and Jennifer Hudson. Daniel Brooks gonna be playing.
Monet X Change
I saw Heather Headley, too. Heather Headley was really good.
Bob the Drag Queen
She'll be playing Sophia. Ms. Sophia, which I'm very excited about. She was so good. She got a cute video of Oprah Winfrey.
Monet X Change
I know, it's so cute.
Bob the Drag Queen
Imagine you're in a zoom.
Monet X Change
You need to listen to the podcast Becoming Oprah. Have you ever listened to it?
Bob the Drag Queen
I was looking for it. I couldn't find it.
Monet X Change
I'll send it to you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was literally doing my makeup. I was like. I was like, becoming Oprah and I could not find it. And then we have Colman Domingo.
Monet X Change
I love Colman Domingo. He's playing mister.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's playing mister I love Colman. Mister Is a sister.
Monet X Change
He is. I love Coleman. He is one of the nicest people ever.
Bob the Drag Queen
So he's gonna be playing mister, which is so exciting. We're gonna have Fantasia Barrino, obviously, playing Celie, which is gonna be so good. I mean, she will win the Oscar.
Monet X Change
Who's playing Nettie?
Bob the Drag Queen
Nettie is going to be. I can't remember her name. I don't know her that well, but they've released who Nettie is.
Monet X Change
But the only weird casting to me is her playing Squeak. Cause Squeak is supposed to have, like, a squeaky high voice.
Bob the Drag Queen
Her is. You also said that people with deep voices can do high voice, but everyone. High voice can't do deep voices.
Jacob
That's what you said.
Bob the Drag Queen
As a bass, but not.
Monet X Change
Yeah, as a bass. As a male singer. But usually altos is different. It also going to be like. That's not a thing. I was think about Mariah Carey. No, but. No, no, but Mariah sings higher.
Bob the Drag Queen
Squeaks music. Mariah has a very deep voice, though.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but Mariah sings high.
Bob the Drag Queen
Mariah's low, too.
Monet X Change
Her. Her sings low. Her does not sing high. She's not a high singer. She's an alto.
Bob the Drag Queen
But also, Squeak's. Squeak doesn't have a whole like. Okay, so Squeak has.
Monet X Change
In the revival. It's very. It's.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's the same music. Moneo. It is mono. I called you Mateo.
Monet X Change
Monet.
Bob the Drag Queen
Monet. It is the same music. So she has a song. If you wanna eat apple off of this here treat. Whoa, bruh. Don't bring nothing but your sweet stuff home to me. So she does have, like. She doesn't have a lot of songs. She has very. She has very few musicality in the show. And it's mostly her speaking voice. She has to be like, that's not her. You ain't nothing but a big old heifer.
Monet X Change
That's not her. That's not her.
Bob the Drag Queen
If I can do it, she can do it. If I can make that voice, she can make that voice.
Monet X Change
I wanna argue you're not doing it.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jesus, guys, this is so mean. Anyway, and we had. Yes, dear.
Jacob
Her sister is going to be. Hi, Bailey.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh. Oh, that's right. That's right. H. That's right.
Monet X Change
Wait, Hal's playing Nettie?
Bob the Drag Queen
H's Nettie and Chloe's Little Mermaid.
Monet X Change
No, she's both. Chloe is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, Chloe's just. Lord have mercy.
Monet X Change
Yeah, but I mean, booted so big.
Bob the Drag Queen
All right, so she's going to be. Which, by the way, is just never happening.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
Can we all agree the Little Mermaid is never coming out? We can all agree. We've been talking about this fucking movie for 18 years. Didn't they get cast five years ago? No, it's never coming out. Okay. Fierce. Yeah. But so, yeah, she's gonna be playing Nettie. Which Nettie? Nettie is. Nettie is not a big part of Color Purple. She's, like, in the very beginning and she's in the end.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then Taraji is gonna be Shug every sing. Yes. Yes. I didn't know this.
Monet X Change
Great voice. Stunning voice. Beautiful voice.
Bob the Drag Queen
She's gonna turn it.
Monet X Change
She's such a good actress.
Bob the Drag Queen
She's brilliant.
Monet X Change
So fucking good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Brilliant.
Monet X Change
The range. The range.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, I really wanted to see in this role, too. No shade to her. Taraji will be. George is a brilliant actress.
Monet X Change
They asked me if I understand you're.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, Taraji is a good actor. You're way better. But Tashina. Tisha Campbell.
Monet X Change
Tisha.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, Tisha Campbell? The light skin one?
Monet X Change
The light skin, yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Tisha Campbell would have been a great Gina Arnold, though. Either one of them.
Monet X Change
Gina Arnold.
Bob the Drag Queen
They're both brilliant. Avery, Imagine, like, Tachina Arnold. I mean. Yeah, she's great.
Monet X Change
Like, everybody hates Chris. She would be. She.
Bob the Drag Queen
And they both have great singing voices, too.
Monet X Change
Oh, great singing voices.
Bob the Drag Queen
Imagine Tisha Campbell as Shug. Avery oh, my God.
Monet X Change
You know, I met. I met Tisha Campbell. Okay? I met her twice. Once, I peed in front of her on RuPaul Drag Race. The second time was when we wrapped filming and we were doing. They took us, all the girls, they brought us to someplace in Burbank to record our Meet the Queens and Whatcha Pack with Michelle. And we were just walking through the mall, myself, Vanjie and two other people, and she was just out there with my friends. I was like. I run into her. I'm like, oh, my God. I was like, tisha Kappa, I love you so much. I was like, you may remember me. I peed on the stage a few weeks ago in front of you on RuPaul's dragon. She was like, oh, hi, baby. And she took a picture of me, and I was there. I was like, it's me.
Bob the Drag Queen
I peed in front of you.
Shannon Maldonado
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Tisha K. And Monty Shinran are both brilliant. They could have been great. Sugar's as well. I'm so. I just didn't. I didn't know that Taraji could sing. I had no clue.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because I would think that you would have seen it at some point on Empire, but she never sang on Empire, did she?
Monet X Change
I don't sang on Empire, but there's. Siraj is a great singer. I don't know what I saw her sing on, but I've seen it, like, a couple times.
Bob the Drag Queen
Her career is so.
Monet X Change
The range.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like. Like, this woman came. I mean, my. The first time I ever saw Taraji was in Baby Boy and. Which is. Which is a movie starring. Come here, Tyrese. And it's like a. It's an interesting movie. It's definitely like. It's like. It's for the. It's for. It's. It's for. It's for the blacks. Like, I don't.
Jacob
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Jacob, have you seen Baby Boy?
Bob the Drag Queen
This may shock you. I have not seen Baby Boy, but it was. It was like a good. You know, he actually where. In arguably where the movie Baby Boy is. Is the inspiration for the song Let me smell your dick.
Monet X Change
Yeah, let me smell your dick.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then, of course, she was in tons of other stuff. Empire being, I think her big. Her big, like, pushback in Hollywood was.
Monet X Change
Was Hidden Figures before or after Empire.
Bob the Drag Queen
Hidden Figures, I believe, was after Empire. I'm almost positive of. Yeah, Chuck, double check. And then, of course, Hidden Figures, she was.
Monet X Change
I can do that all by myself.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, she's. I mean, she's great. She's going to do a. She's Going to do such a good
Monet X Change
job and be so good.
Bob the Drag Queen
H. This is going to change everything. I don't know. I don't know. I'm going to. I'm going to cry. I'm going to scream. We have to do something. We have to, like, an. We have to do something.
Monet X Change
Who do you think is going to play Miss? Miss Millie? Miss. You think. You're thinking it's Miss Millie. That's her name. We looked it up.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is it.
Monet X Change
It's Miss Millie. It's Millie. The one. The lady that gets. Yeah, yeah.
Jacob
Who do you think Whoopi's gonna be?
Bob the Drag Queen
Whoopi's not in.
Monet X Change
She's guessing it.
Jacob
I mean, Whoopi's gonna have a cameo at some point.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I hope. I mean, if they.
Monet X Change
They better have Whoopi in there. Are you joking?
Bob the Drag Queen
They have to put Whoopi. Yeah. At some. I mean, maybe.
Monet X Change
What?
Bob the Drag Queen
I know. The perfect cameo for them. They'll be Sophia's sisters. Oh, they can be Sophia's sisters. Yeah. Because the big scene where Sofia breaks up with Harpo.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I would say spoiler alert, but. But the book came out in 1980. 84. Yeah, 83, I think, so. I think we're good. Yeah. There's a big scene where. Where Sophia breaks up with Harpo and all of her sisters come back to. To get her. And the song. They all go, hell, no. Hell no.
Monet X Change
Hell no.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I would love to see the last one be Whoopi going, hell, no. Hell no. The last one is just Whoopi with a big shotgun going, hell, no. Oh, my.
Monet X Change
Who's playing Harpo?
Bob the Drag Queen
And if y' all do that, me and Monat need a credit, a creative
Monet X Change
credit, and I'll even sub for Whoopi. Who's playing Harpo?
Bob the Drag Queen
Harpo is. Wait, no. Harpo's Colman Domingo. No.
Jacob
Cory Hawkins is Harpo.
Monet X Change
Call the one from Mason.
Jacob
Matrix.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, well, drag, one more.
Monet X Change
Is he playing Morpheus right now in Matrix?
Jacob
He was most recently in the Heights.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, shinked on Heights. I really think that this is going to be the. The Musical, and I think that it's going to sweep. I think it's going to be one of the best movies of all time. I have nothing but faith in this.
Monet X Change
I mean, nothing but faith. I love good movie musicals. Dream Girls is one of my faves. Love the Rent as well. And I'm sure I'm gonna love Color Purple. Honestly, I'm excited to see all three of them. Little Shop of Horrors, Wicked, and Color Purple. I've never seen Wicked. I've never seen a musical. So I'm excited to see that. I see that Reva's gonna be such an amazing alphaba.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wow.
Monet X Change
She's gonna be so good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Also, not to mention everyone who's played Celie has been nominated for the major award in their respect.
Monet X Change
Cynthia did.
Bob the Drag Queen
Cynthia Revo won the Tony. Lashan won the Tony. Fantasia was not. Because she was a replacement.
Monet X Change
Was she a replacement?
Bob the Drag Queen
She was a replace. She replaced Lachanze.
Monet X Change
Really?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes. It's only been on Broadway twice, right?
Monet X Change
Yeah. Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
And LaShawn's open the role.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
And Whoopi Goldberg was nominated, but she didn't win. She who won that year, her name was. It was some lady who like. It was. She was like the Susan Lucci before.
Monet X Change
Speaking of Rob.
Bob the Drag Queen
She was Susan Lucci before Susan Lucci.
Monet X Change
Speaking of Rob. Queens. Do you see that clip of Angela Bassett on watch. On watch what happens live? Someone. Someone. Someone sending the question. They're like, Angela Bassett is there. Have you ever felt like you were robbed for the. For, for getting an Oscar, getting a nomination for something? And she's like, yeah, what's. What's I've got to do. And the name. The person that won her year played a mute. And she was like. She's like. And she's like, no shade to them. She's like, they did a great job. But she was like, I was acting, honey.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was, it was. It was her. Her best work today.
Monet X Change
Greatest. So good.
Bob the Drag Queen
As a kid, I thought she was. She was the Internet Turner.
Monet X Change
Oh, for sure. Me too. I grew up thinking that was Tina Turner.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, yeah. Tina Turner.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then I remember you watched the whole movie and then at the end, the real Turtle, I was like, who the.
Monet X Change
Who that.
Bob the Drag Queen
Who the Is this woman acting like. Acting like Tina Turner. I know who is not. It's not Tina Turner.
Monet X Change
Do you know another black stable the. The Jackson 5 movie, an American Dream?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, of course. Very good.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Every black person's watched it is you. You put it on, it'll come on bet at like 11 o' clock in the morning. That is not done until 8pm it is the longest movie ever.
Bob the Drag Queen
I watched it. It blew my mind because that's how I found out Michael Jackson was black.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
I did not know he was black until I was like. I was like. I remember asking my mom like, who is the. Who is this kid playing Michael Jackson?
Monet X Change
Why is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Why, why is this black kid playing Michael Jackson? She's my mom's like, but Michael Jackson is Black. I was like, what? She's like, michael Jackson is black. And I was like, okay, but I'm looking at him. Like, I'm, I'm looking at him, Michael Jackson, and he's not black. She goes, michael Jackson is black. And I was like, like, this is cr. I was like, how do you. How is he not black anymore? And she was like, I don't know. He just turned white. And I was like, what? She goes, he just turned white.
Monet X Change
Turned white girl.
Bob the Drag Queen
He kind of just slowly turned white over the course of, like, a decade. And then next thing you know, he was really white.
Monet X Change
What if I just started turning white?
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, you know, Michael Jackson had vitiligo.
Monet X Change
I know, but what if I started bleaching just, like, to. I. Because that.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, bleaching, yeah.
Monet X Change
That is a big thing for, For, For Jamaicans and, like, the Western community. So, so you're saying, okay, what if I, what if I had a skin bleach? I just, I started getting progressively lighter and lighter and lighter.
Bob the Drag Queen
If I found out that you were skin bleaching, I mean, this is your body. You can do whatever you want with it. And I would not try to tell you what you can and can't do with your body. I might ask you why you were doing it, and if you were and if you said it because it makes you feel good, I might try to gently and softly open up a conversation about why you feel like having lighter skin would make you feel good. Good work.
Monet X Change
That sounds fair.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I mean, but, but it's not my body. And if you want to bleach your skin, go off Mary, people beat your anuses all the time.
Monet X Change
I try bleaching my anus. I, I, I think I do black with that.
Bob the Drag Queen
What do you mean, you try?
Monet X Change
I went, I got two sessions. I was like, it look the same.
Bob the Drag Queen
I want to just say right now that I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this. I feel like I am now because you mentioned it 20 episodes ago. That was the thing. That was Monet's secret procedure she didn't want to talk about.
Monet X Change
Oh, my.
Bob the Drag Queen
No.
Monet X Change
It was my aesthetic procedure.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Just so y' all know, that was Monet's super secret aesthetic procedure. Now she's like, bitch, I bleached my asshole twice. Bitch. I squatted over a bottle of Clorox.
Monet X Change
It was somebody that was like, hey, you want to come in and do it? I was like, sure. I didn't even know what it even does. I was like, I'll go get anal Bleaching bitch. This is nothing to me.
Bob the Drag Queen
Look, you all remember back when Monet shut me down?
Monet X Change
My secret aesthetic procedure.
Bob the Drag Queen
That was the secret aesthetic procedure. You are wise.
Monet X Change
Okay, I can say it on my own terms with my body and my mouth. I can do it. Oh, now we talking about my mouth again?
Bob the Drag Queen
You were talking about. You were talking about my body and my mouth during Black History Month of all times. Mother, can you open?
Jacob
Can you.
Monet X Change
Clickety clack, swipity, lookety.
Bob the Drag Queen
You are wild.
Monet X Change
Oh, how do you plan? Okay, because Rob and I have talked about this back and forth about if we want kids, will we ever have kids?
Jacob
Whatever.
Monet X Change
Let's say you do have kids. How are you gonna go about. Are you gonna make Black Extra Month? Like a thing, Like a spectacle at your house?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I feel like I do want to, because I. More than likely I will not be raising my kids in Atlanta. And I don't know how they. I mean, if you said in New York City, they weren't even doing like, that. I mean, I would.
Monet X Change
Maybe just my school. Maybe they did. But at my schools, I went to my elementary, middle school, and high school, it was not like a. Like a major thing.
Bob the Drag Queen
I want my kids to. To have knowledge about Black History Month, and I feel like I'll probably just teach them some stuff at home while watching movies with them. I know as a kid, I was really interested in it. Like, it was really intriguing to me. Like, they didn't. You didn't have to, like, force me to learn about Black History Month. You know what I mean? So, for me, I was just, like, happy to. Just happy to be talking about. I remember being like, what's up with W.E.B. du Bois? Like, what's up with all these people? And there are still people to this day that I want. That I want to learn about, that I. That I don't know half as much as I want to know about. You know what I mean?
Shannon Maldonado
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
So I think that I will try to definitely just tell my kids a lot about this kind of stuff.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, and I was thinking that if I have a kid, I mean, our kid will have such an interesting perspective on life, because if me, Ezra and Jacob were raising a kid, this kid will have a black parent, a Jewish parent, and a Mexican parent. And this kid will be, like, between cookouts, quinceaneras and bar mitzvahs, this kid's gonna be lit.
Monet X Change
I think that during Black History Month, I do think that maybe because I'm a queer person, coming from that lens, I feel like they should be more of a. I wish they did better about teaching about more queer black historical figures.
Bob the Drag Queen
I agree. I wish that. Yeah, I thank you for mentioning that. I really do wish they would talk about. I mean, I'm upset that it was. I was in my 30s when I found out that Angela Davis was queer.
Monet X Change
I. I found out at black. When she did Blackwear Town Hall.
Jacob
Yeah.
Monet X Change
I was like, oh, really?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yep. They just. They just kind of really pushed that part of her personality under the rug and didn't want you to know. Alice Walker Square where she really is. Color Purple still is to this day. And she's alive. Alice Walker's alive.
Monet X Change
No, no, I'm saying for those who don't see. She wrote the Color Purple. Yeah, yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Alice Walker actually kind of famously outed another celebrity, Tracy Chapman. Tracy. I was. Damn, Jacob.
Monet X Change
I mean, I guess we're double out now.
Bob the Drag Queen
She outed Tracy Chapman because Tracy Chapman is like, like kind of Jodie Foster about her. Her love life.
Monet X Change
Queen of tea for you.
Bob the Drag Queen
I am what I am. And B, B, B. And I was walking like, yeah, yeah, we used to date.
Monet X Change
Really?
Bob the Drag Queen
So, yeah, I was fully dating Tracy Chapman. We were fully dating. Next question.
Monet X Change
I was walking.
Bob the Drag Queen
Look like she looks exactly how you think she looks like. Once you say you're gonna be like, yeah, I mean, she looks exactly how you think she looks.
Monet X Change
Maybe.
Bob the Drag Queen
What were you saying?
Monet X Change
She's so pretty.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, but is she like a professor?
Monet X Change
I was thinking of a Tracy Chapman look, actually.
Bob the Drag Queen
But doesn't Alice Walker look like a professor of African American studies?
Monet X Change
She does.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, she looks just like. This bitch would definitely teach African American studies at.
Monet X Change
Do you know what I want to do? I would love to go back and just take. The thought of going back to school sounds gross to me, but I would like to just take like, pay to take a course on like African American studies studies.
Bob the Drag Queen
You don't have to. I mean, yeah, you can take a course. You can also.
Monet X Change
I always go to like UCLA or.
Bob the Drag Queen
You also do people saying what. What the anti vaxxers doing. Do your own research.
Monet X Change
No, I would like to go to like a course. Like I. I need. I need to. I thrive in school. I need the structure of school to like. I learned a lot in school. I did well in school. I like that structure. I need that. I'm too fly by night.
Bob the Drag Queen
There also so many movies, documentaries, amazing
Monet X Change
things and having that, like. And having that discourse of people in class, like discussing different books you're reading and different. I love that. I love that.
Bob the Drag Queen
You have any black history Books or books about black authors you want to recommend?
Monet X Change
Yeah, Black Fatigue. I'm reading it right now. Forgot the author's name.
Bob the Drag Queen
What's it about?
Monet X Change
It's about the black. It's about black fatigue and how growing, being, being a black person and experiencing the world through as a black person over the course of your life, it causes immense black fatigue on you because you, you cannot turn your race off. You are constantly dealing with your race.
Bob the Drag Queen
Michael Jackson,
Monet X Change
wow, it's Black History Month. I'm sorry. And how that can really tire you as a black person as in a way that white people will never understand. You can't experience white fatigue. You know what I mean? Because you. Because the way that we experience our race in this country, I don't know,
Bob the Drag Queen
I find white people quite fatigued.
Monet X Change
It's a really, it's, it's. I'm really enjoying reading it, actually. I'm learning a lot.
Bob the Drag Queen
I really want to recommend, if you like. So I love historical fiction. It's like honestly my favorite. So historical fiction is basically this like genre where they take real people and just kind of put them in their own made up scenarios.
Monet X Change
Mary Frances Winters work Mary Frances in
Bob the Drag Queen
their own made up scenarios. And I really can't recommend the Good Lord Bird enough. The Good Lord Bird, I think won the National Book Award. It is a really great book. It is about John Brown. Do you know John Brown? John Brown was this. He was, he was white. He was this crazy abolitionist. Crazy abolitionist. He basically walk up to you and be like, are you pro free state or are you pro slavery? And if you say pro slavery, you were fully capped, right? They clocked, done, fucking clocked out. Deleted outlaw. Put in the trash. Put in the trash bin.
Monet X Change
Love it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like right on the moment. And his death is what is people say sparked the Civil War. And there's a song, you know, John Brown's Body Lie Emojin in the grave. Anyway, a lot of people were seeing that during the Civil War. It's like a war chant or war song. And he is reaching for my hand.
Monet X Change
It wasn't, but I saw you reaching out. So I wanted to make you feel supported and loved.
Bob the Drag Queen
But anyway, it's about his life. Loosely about his life and a slave that he kidnapped.
Monet X Change
And he thought it was a girl.
Bob the Drag Queen
He thought that he was a girl. So this kid lives as a girl for like seven years while. While traveling with this like outlaw abolitionist.
Monet X Change
I want you and Andy's arm wrestle.
Bob the Drag Queen
I want to wrestle.
Jacob
Andy.
Monet X Change
Do you think you'll be you. Do you think you can beat Andy in arm wrestling?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know.
Monet X Change
Probably. Oh, you think so?
Bob the Drag Queen
Probably.
Monet X Change
Interesting. Just.
Bob the Drag Queen
Just anything can beat you up don't mean shit, honey.
Monet X Change
No, he don't beat. Andy does not beat me up. Honey. He beat the pussy up. That's why he beat up.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is Black History Month. Stand up, yo.
Monet X Change
Also, I hate when I did not call myself, but I don't know why I called him pussy. I would. I do not. That sounds so strange. I would never refer to my genitals as a pussy. I don't know why I said that. That was so weird.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think an anus is a genital.
Monet X Change
I mean, yes, okay. I would never. I would never refer to my anus as a pussy. I don't know why I said that. I also don't believe in bussy. Do you believe in bussy?
Bob the Drag Queen
No, I don't say pussy.
Monet X Change
Yeah, I don't. I don't. Pussy or bussy.
Bob the Drag Queen
What, Jacob? Oh, what? I don't know. You what?
Jacob
That was just a reaction. That was just. That was just a reaction to bussy. That's just.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't say. Well, now you're making it sound like I say. You're making it seem like I'm lying.
Monet X Change
Bob, you can say whatever you want. I just don't. Bussy or.
Bob the Drag Queen
I have no problem with people saying pussy or pussy or anything they say. I have no problems with qualms with any of those terms.
Monet X Change
Work.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're wild.
Advertisement Narrator
Oh, my.
Monet X Change
Wild.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're instigating.
Monet X Change
I'm the wild one.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm not wild. I'm just sitting here while you and Jacob were doing this thing.
Monet X Change
Me and Jacob were doing a thing. Okay, so it's the year 3022, and someone is giving their Black History Month presentation about you. How do you want to be remembered?
Bob the Drag Queen
Why? 3022. That's so a thousand year.
Monet X Change
I mean, I was reading what the prompter said.
Bob the Drag Queen
I know. I mean, history. I don't think we've ever learned about anyone from. I mean, not never. Like a thousand.
Monet X Change
Jesus. 2,000 years ago.
Bob the Drag Queen
2,000 years ago.
Monet X Change
More than a thousand.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, I'm trying to think, like, who do I know from a thousand years years ago?
Monet X Change
Noah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like Genghis Khan was Genghis Khan a thousand years ago.
Monet X Change
I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
When was Napoleon? What the Napoleon. When was Napoleon?
Monet X Change
Like the 1700s.
Jacob
Genghis Khan was over a thousand years ago. Napoleon was not a thousand years ago.
Monet X Change
Maybe 1645.
Bob the Drag Queen
Y' all name someone for thousand. Why? Y' All. Why y' all niggas, Kiki and this. Name someone for a thousand years ago. Since you got all the facts in the world.
Monet X Change
Maybe, maybe, maybe. Confucius.
Bob the Drag Queen
Very good, Monet.
Monet X Change
Thank you.
Bob the Drag Queen
Correct was Confucius from a thousand years ago.
Monet X Change
Yeah. So you still.
Bob the Drag Queen
You name somebody. Don't be. Don't be. You correcting over here like, like, you know, Cleopatra, Amy, Socrates, Aristotle. Socrates. Socrates, Nuts. Why? Socrates was actually 1500. So. Also, according to history, no black people existed thousand years ago.
Jacob
And just to clarify, Socrates was not 1500. Socrates was 399 BC.
Bob the Drag Queen
399. So what's. What's. What is. What is 2002?
Monet X Change
2022 -1500 years ago.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. So more than that, Henny.
Monet X Change
Anyway, how do you want to be remembered?
Bob the Drag Queen
Let's make the. Let's. Let's do 50 years ago. That seems more appropriate.
Monet X Change
So in the year 50 years from now. 30. 72.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, yeah, apparently I'm the. I'm the dumb bitch who can't do math.
Monet X Change
I mean, 2072, some old dumb bitch.
Bob the Drag Queen
I guess it'll be like, let's talk about 50.
Monet X Change
That's not a long time.
Bob the Drag Queen
50 years ago is a long time ago. How long ago do you think Martin Luther King was shot?
Monet X Change
I know. It was in 1968. I know. I get it. But I'm just saying.
Bob the Drag Queen
So 50 years is a long time. I know.
Monet X Change
Okay, let's say 100.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay, sure. Gleep Glorp. The aliens are here.
Monet X Change
Glip Glorp.
Bob the Drag Queen
A hundred years. Okay, 100 years.
Jacob
How'd you.
Bob the Drag Queen
Because I don't want to be talked about like, I don't want to be talking about, like, they talk about. Like, I want to talk about me the way they talk about, you know, I don't know, Prince or. Or mlk, but not the way they talked about, like fucking Sojourner Truth.
Monet X Change
Frederick Douglass.
Bob the Drag Queen
Frederick Douglass. I want them to say, we're gonna talk about Bob the Drag Queen, or
Monet X Change
affectionately known as Caldwell Titty Q.
Bob the Drag Queen
Now, Bob the Drag Queen was from Columbus, Georgia, and Bob the Drag Queen went on to accomplish something that very, very few people have ever been able to accomplish. Bob the Drag Queen went on the record having multiple full length conversations with one of the most difficult people. She was gaslit, she was girl balls, and she was gate. But somehow her endurance. They still use episodes of sibling rivalry podcasts to show how to persevere through deep, intense psychological trauma.
Monet X Change
My name is Alex Telly and I want to give my presentation on Monet X Chain as they Call it Kevin Burton. Kevin Burton was a Drag Queen in 2007.
Jacob
16.
Monet X Change
And he went on a show, Rua Drag Race, and he won Miss Congeniality. After Congeniality, he went back again for Allstars, and he won
Bob the Drag Queen
after.
Monet X Change
After RuPaul Drag Race, Kevin did lots of talk shows, and he did a lot of commercials, and he kept on doing drag.
Jacob
Thank you. I don't.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, I said a while back, I stayed at my audition table. I was like, I'm going, you know, I'm gonna. If I. If I remember saying this, probably they were like, this bitch. There were probably several times in my Drag Race process, they kept thinking themselves, who is this bitch? And who does she think she is? But I said to them, I said, I am gonna go on to.
Monet X Change
I think.
Bob the Drag Queen
I do think I'm gonna win this show. I think I'm gonna be one of the biggest queens to ever come out of this show. And I said, and I'm gonna tell you this, too. Winning Drag Race will not be the biggest thing I do. And they're probably like, wow, that is really bold for someone recording a tape in the living room in front of, you know, wigs. But I really felt that way at the time, and I. And I really do hope that I'm able to. I don't know. It's not about leaving a legacy. I just really hope that someone down the line can see me and feel seen and be like, oh, I could do that. Or, you know, if Bob the Drag Queen can achieve these things, I feel like I would be able to. To, you know, achieve these things. Do you think that down the line, when they're talking about you, will they call you Monet? Will they call you Kevin Burke? Are you one of those drag queens who starts going by your, like, your. Your, like, real name, like, down the line?
Monet X Change
Probably.
Bob the Drag Queen
You think so?
Monet X Change
I think I would not. My. I'll never be Kevin. I. I don't. I. Maybe nothing. Always be Monet.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I mean, do you want people being like, give it up for Kevin?
Monet X Change
No.
Bob the Drag Queen
Even if I do stuff, even if I stop doing drag, I'm still gonna go back by Papa Drag Queen. I really don't see a world where I'm just like, give it up for. I mean, maybe people got. So when I did Angels in America, I did go by Caldwell, but that's my union name. My union name is Caldwell, and all my co workers called me Caldwell and stuff. But I just really see myself, like, in the professional world. I'm Bob. Bob. And that's just kind of how I see myself. And I think that you could also just be moving.
Monet X Change
Although there is already a Mo.
Bob the Drag Queen
But also, she went on the show was like, my name is Monique Hart. And I was like, I thought you said your name was Mo Heart.
Monet X Change
Oh, wait, she did say on the
Bob the Drag Queen
show, but I think she changed it after the first episode. Tell me you're not watching Drag Race. You came across the world without telling.
Monet X Change
I watched the first episode. What do you think of the first talent show?
Bob the Drag Queen
I thought that this was the Black History Month episode. You know, we'll talk about it as a little Patreon exclusive.
Monet X Change
Okay.
Bob the Drag Queen
They were Monet. Thank you so much for. Your hands look so light skinned.
Monet X Change
Not on the Black History Month episode. And there's nothing more of a light skinned people. I'm just not light skinned.
Bob the Drag Queen
But look at your hands.
Monet X Change
They're so light, they can't see them because of the iPad.
Jacob
Right, y'? All.
Monet X Change
Not in a Black History Month episode. This is insane behavior.
Bob the Drag Queen
I love you very much. Happy Black History Month.
Monet X Change
Happy Black History Month to you too.
Bob the Drag Queen
We always have these plans. Black History Month. And then it sneaks up, up. It's every year. It's after January every year. The thing is also, like, October to December is crazy time for drag queens.
Monet X Change
Oh, yeah, it's crazy.
Bob the Drag Queen
And then in January, you're like, oh, like, shit, it's February.
Monet X Change
I know. Fuck, they should have made it March or April.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you remember why?
Monet X Change
Why did they choose February as Black History Month? Because. Is it really? Because it has the least amount of
Bob the Drag Queen
days and it's the coldest month of the year.
Monet X Change
Do you think that's why? Like, why February?
Bob the Drag Queen
And maybe it's because when is MLK Day?
Monet X Change
It's January.
Jacob
It's the birthday of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Jackson.
Monet X Change
Ew.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not Abraham Lincoln being the reason why we do Black History Month. Not this nigga who didn't even think we were equal to white people.
Jacob
And Frederick Douglass.
Bob the Drag Queen
And Frederick Douglass who was an advisor to Lincoln, who told Lincoln not to ship us off like Amazon packages,
Monet X Change
Take them back to the Whole Foods instead of back. All right, Roberta, Happy luck History Month. And I'll see you when the month is over.
Bob the Drag Queen
Five minutes.
