B
my name is Bob the Drag Queen. And I'm Mona Xchange. And this is Sibling Rivalry.
A
This week on Civiling Rivalry, we talk about Bob the Drag Queen and how much we love him and how great he is at keeping up his plans.
B
We talk all about makeup with special guest Kim Chi.
A
And we find out what made Monet say this.
B
Every time we go to a city, one of the production people got stopped because he had too many poppers in his bag. And we find out what made Kim say this.
A
Like, I would get so many followers every day, and I would get so many, like, DMs on people asking me, like, are you the secret Asian queen? And then I'm like,
B
Well, well, well. Ladies and gentlemen, we are graced at Sibling Rivalry podcast with the Queen of Shade. Honestly, the original Queen of Shade. People underestimate how shady Kim is. Kim is savage. But, y', all, it's Kim Chi. Hi, Kimmy.
A
Hello, Queen of shade. I prefer the queen of inner beauty and kindness and
B
love.
A
Everybody say love.
B
These headphones, what are these? Are they like, are they. Is that kid Icarus?
A
No. So it's like a regular headphone and there's just like pieces that you like, attach to it.
B
It's actually very cute.
A
So I actually have, like, different ones. I have like, devil horn or, like little roses that you guys can like, switch it out.
B
Well, you should wearing the devil horns because that's the real kimchi, honey. Naboo.
A
I'm an angel, which is why I'm wearing these little angel wings.
B
Kim So y', all, we. Bob and I talk about Kim on a podcast. There are people we talk about pretty regularly. We talk about you, Naomi. Who else? We talk about some other folks.
A
I think we talk about everybody. Y' all talk about everybody?
B
No, but we bring you guys up a lot because obviously, like, we have more interaction with you guys in our daily lives, you know, regularly.
A
And.
B
And, I mean, primarily, Bob has this big thing that all of us hang out without him, and he's never invited. And I'm happy. I want to thank you.
A
I would like to. I would like to make it clear on this podcast.
B
Thank you.
A
Not at all. Bot fans are listening in. First of all, Bob has never invited me to anything. Like, Bob does, like, million things, but he has not invited me to a single, single work. And every time I make a plan with him, and I always invite him to things you do. Like, on the day of, I call him, be like, hey, Bob, are we still hanging out today? And he'd be like, oh, I'm in Atlanta, or, oh, I'm in, like, blah, blah, blah. And then I'm like, great. Our plan, like, don't mean anything to you?
B
You see?
A
Okay.
B
Yes. Oh, this is so good. Oh, this tastes so good. Oh, this is so good.
A
And, and, and, and, and. And. I mean, I love Bob dearly, you know? Like, I would love to hang out with Bob, but, you know, he just doesn't invite me to things. So after a while, like, where he, like, flakes on all his plans with me, it's like, why do I even, like, invite him to places when he doesn't invite me to anything?
B
Thank you, Kim. See, y' all are hearing it straight from Kim is no one is making plans. Bob is hard to pin down. And sometimes Bob will. Bob only wants to hang out at his house. Bob doesn't like to go out to eat. So it's like, what? I mean, what are we supposed to do? Like.
A
Like, I've tried to hang out with him so many times, but, you know, like, all the plans just, like, over his head. And then last time, I was like, hey, Bob, let's hang out. Oh. He's like, oh, like, I'm so busy. Can you check with Kennedy for my schedule? And I'm like, I'm not checking with your assistant.
B
You lying.
A
I'm not lying.
C
Okay, so I would. I'm going to stand up for my man now.
B
Here comes Jacob. Here go, Jacob.
C
I think that's a fair thing. I think the issue with him flaking in the pastimes is because he's bad at doing his own scheduling. And that's something that's varied constantly throughout his life. He will tell you he never does his own scheduling because he's bad at it. Because he always double books himself. So it's not while that he's trying to make sure that he can hang out so he doesn't flake on you.
B
Let me tell you something as someone, as a friend, I'm not going to your assistant to find time for us to hang out. If I have to go to your assistant to find time to hang out, then we're just not going to hang out. I like it takes out the casualness, like the frivolity of just like, hey, let's like make casual plans and let's keep them. You know what I mean? So I'm with Kim. I'm not doing that also like I'm a person.
A
Like if you know me, like if I make plans with you, like I am showing up that day. Like you get a text for me that day like confirming our plans.
B
Very, that very. That can like again, I moved to, I moved to LA after a few things. I moved to LA after Bob. Bob. Bob was friends with Kim and Naomi and everything way before me because obviously they did season eight together. But yet I'm able. And Kim is really busy. I'm really busy. But Kim and I make plans to hang out all the time. We go to each other's game nights. We have dinner often. Like so there is a way to make it work. So Jake is trying to stick up for his man. No, Mary, no ma'. Am. Get it together. Kim and I even took Bob out for his birthday two years ago.
A
Yes. And he doesn't even text me or has ever called me on my birthday. And I've, I've taken Bob out twice for his birthday gag, you know. But this, you know, I, I don't do anything. I'm not keeping tabs on our friendship. You know, I just like genuinely do it because I love my friends, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
But you know, like after a while, you know, like I just like hate being like on like a one sided street, you know. But I love Bob. I genuinely love Bob.
B
Oh, everyone loves Bob.
A
I'm not shading Bob, you know.
B
Yeah, yeah, everyone loves Bob. Bob is a very lovable person. Also, Bob is a very loyal friend. I mean as we talk about. Bob is a very loyal Bob.
A
If you can hang out with him. Yeah, you can get a hold of him.
B
So the first time I met Kim Chi, it was the season eight? No, it was the season eight. I think they announced the cast, and all of y' all ended up being in la. And then, like, I think you and some other girls came to me and Ms. Cracker's Sunday show, and it was like, again, I had. As soon as Bob came back from filming season eight, he talked about, you know, to me, like, confidently, like, how he. He became really good friends with you and Naomi.
A
And Bob broke his NDA.
B
He broke the NDA girl, but he didn't tell me he got top three. But he told me that he was really close with you and Naomi. So, like, I put two and two together. I was like, oh, they're probably top three. And then, so when I. And because Bob spoke so glowingly about y', all, I was like, if Bob likes them, I'm gonna like them, too. And Kim and Naomi are truly like, Kim is. Kim is also a ride or die friend. Like, Kim is like, ride at ice to the core. Like, when you're Kim's friend, you're Kim's friend. Kim, success for you. Kim ISO. And we've been friends ever since. Even when Kim used to come into New York, I used to, because Kim could. They would give her cars and stuff. I would always like, kim, can I come pick you from the airport? I will pick up.
A
Monet would pick me up from jfk. And, you know, like. Like, that's a true friend. If someone is picking up from the jfk.
B
Girl, Girl. And then after, like, the third time, kid was like, you know, girl, I really appreciate it, but, like, they sent me a car service. Like, I'm good. You have to pick me from the airport. I was like, okay. But, like, I was. That was. I was. I was. I was that girl for a little bit.
A
Mm. It was lovely. You know what's lovely? The first time Monet ever hung out was and we met at the. Chicago's jewelry district.
B
Yes, the Chicago jewelry district.
A
And, like, right away, like, Monet was, like, so fun, so sweet. And I'm like, oh, I fuck with Monet.
B
Here's the thing. Do you think Chicago's jewelry district is better than New York's jewelry district?
A
I haven't been to New York's jewelry district. And also, really, I haven't been to Chicago's jewelry district in, like, 80 years. I don't know what it's like now. I heard a lot of the shops closed, closed down.
B
Right.
A
And, like, during the COVID times. So I can't really compare the two.
B
Well, what I find annoying is that LA does not have. And maybe I'm just wrong. LA doesn't have a good jewelry district. I've found. Again, I. I'm not like in it like before, like when I was, you know, more like a local girl, like going that pretty often. So I don't really go often, but when I have had to like go run and get jewelry, it's just like not as meaty as like Chicago or New York. I'm like, bitch. It's like two stores. Whereas in Chicago they were like a fucking street full of stores. You can find all types of jewelry at.
A
You know what I realized after doing drag for so long?
B
What?
A
Those, like jewelry shop jewelry, they're very sparkle and they're very beautiful, but they break after like one or two wear.
B
Yeah.
A
And for me it's almost better to just like go to a vintage shop and actually get vintage jewelry.
B
Yeah.
A
Or like, like get custom jewelry from like jewelry makers that makes like really sturdy like pageant jewelry. And those actually last a long time.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
So in the long run, like it costs more like at first, but in the long run it's like a better payoff just to get better quality jewelry for drag.
B
Yeah, I would agree with that. They had one time, like when I first started drag, I like stumbled into like a Buffalo Exchange and I got like some really, really nice vintage Givenchy, like costume, like costume jewelry that's like, you know, that high quality stuff. But back then I was just starting out, I didn't really know what. I treated that shit so bad. And if I had, if I could go back in time, I would have been so much nicer to the jewelry because it was like nice, heavy, like really good costume jewelry by Givenchy that I just. I would like throw it around. I would like leave it in water. I like fucking didn't take care of it and I'm so mad.
A
Leave it in water.
B
Why?
A
Why the jewelry is like floating in the water?
B
Because I was, I was trying to like wash. I would like, leave it to like soak in like 100% alcohol to like clean it like an idiot.
A
No, girl. Kleenex and paper towel.
B
I know. I didn't know though, Kim. I didn't know.
A
Speaking of which, I actually got these earrings from the vintage shop that I got for you year and a half ago. And they've been sitting in my. Let me bring it to you real quick.
B
Oh my God. I want to see Kim. Oh my God. Kim got me juicy. Well, that's not true. Bob gives me stuff on the last Episode, y'. All. I talked about these boomerangs Bob got me. I'm going to take a picture of it. And here they are now. Oh.
A
I mean, it's not something fancy. I just saw them at the vintage shop, and they look like something you might wear.
B
Okay. Oh, I love that. Those are very cute. Yes.
A
I was like, these colors are very, like Monet.
B
I. Kim, I love that. Okay, where I need to go, I need to get some more. I, I would love those. And I'm trying to shift my jewelry, I'm trying to set my jewelry game up into more stuff like that. And so I always wear, like, the same sparkly studs or whatever. Recently, I bought, you know, those, you know those Bottega gold airdrop ones? The big ones? I bought those.
A
Oh, my God. Those are really cute.
B
I love them. So I, I, I, I'm trying to, like, step my jewelry game up. So that is definitely a step in that direction. I need to do more vintage shopping.
A
Yes, vintage, like, it's the way to go. And there are great jewelry makers out there. You know Chanel Hunter from Michigan? No. She's a queen. If you ever, like, do a gig with her, she'll, like, bust out a box, like, full of jewelry, and she'll be like, oh, this ring is, like $50. These earrings are $60. Like, fierce jewelry.
B
Okay.
A
And then there's, like, a jewelry maker in uk. Every single jewelry for I've had from her, I've tossed it around. I've, like, like, dropped it, but they're still sturdy. Crownjewels.uk and Instagram makes jewelry.
B
Yes, girl, I'm writing all this down. I need to crown jewels.
A
Crown jewels.uk honestly.
B
But here's the thing. Like, I see y' all listening. I see more civilians, like, everyday people wearing drag jewelry now. Kind of like, you know, oh, my God, this is a makeup trend. I'm sorry, I cannot get with it. Kim. The people wearing, like, the big 301 Spider Lashes, like, in every day.
C
Every day.
A
Yeah.
B
It looks insane. I don't understand how people do that or go to an eyelash place and think that looks good. I think it looks so bad, honestly.
A
It's not a matter of, like, whether it looks good in them or not. If it makes you feel good, wear it. Life is too short. You know what? If you want to wear 301s, by all means, you know, wear 301s, I guess.
B
But, girl, you go to sleep like that, it's because it's like the install. So they're like, there all the time. I think that. I mean, you're right. If you're happy, if you love. If you like it, I love it. That's fierce. But I'm like, also.
A
Yeah, also, like, know your proportions, you know, like, those big lashes are intended for people that wear big makeup.
B
Big makeup.
A
But you know, what if. No makeup, big lashes, like you're saying, you know what? If it makes you happy, do it. You know, life is too short. We're all going to die soon.
B
We are, girl. This world is really. We are not long for this world, girl. I'm. I. I need to start riding this till the wheels fall off. Like, I don't care. It is. We're really out here. Literally. Today I was driving down. I almost got into an accident on, On. On Sunset today because this fucking lady, I think she was. She was driving. She was clear, like, maybe like, falling asleep or on the influence of something. She was literally rearing into my lane. Like, that's as important. Like, I'm moving my car over, too. So I almost had, like, a crazy accident on Sunset today by this fucking drunk bitch or something.
A
Oh, my God. So there's something about LA drivers. So, like, I mean, I'm a relatively new driver. I've been driving for, like, two and a half years now. It drives me insane when I'm going highway and Everybody's going, like, 80, like, miles per hour, so many people just change lanes without putting, like, their, like, signals on the signal. And it literally takes, like, one second to, like, put that signal on. Like, do you have a death switch? Yeah, you know?
C
Yeah.
B
It's crazy. Like, I have noticed that a lot in la. People in LA do not use their signals, their blinkers. That is a very early thing. Just, I don't know. Put the fucking thing on. I agree.
A
I agree to the point where, like, I'm almost like. I hate, like, driving on highways when it's not rush hour, because everybody's just, like, rushing and, like, changing lanes so fast.
B
Yeah.
A
At least with rush hour, you know, like, there's highs and lows, but everybody's going slow enough that, like, if someone changes lane quickly, like, it's not too big of an issue.
B
Yeah. Well, here's the thing, y'. All. Kim lived in LA for Madlon without a license. I don't know how anyone lived here and didn't have a car. Like, I. I moved here in By March 1, by April 1, I had a car.
A
I mean, you've also been driving. You've also drove in New York. Get a car in New York, which, like, that. No one has.
B
I did. I did.
A
So I was just, like, bred into that lifestyle.
B
Yeah, well, you live in Chicago. Everyone has a car. Everyone has a car in Chicago. Really?
A
No one has a car in Chicago? Yeah.
B
Oh, interesting.
A
It's like, a very, like, small amount of people that actually has a car.
B
Gotcha.
A
And I only learned how to drive because Covid happened, and then there weren't any Ubers. So every time, like, I need to go to a grocery store, it'll be, like, 30 minute wait for one Uber.
B
Oh, God.
A
And it'll be so extra, you know, like.
B
Yeah.
A
Even if you, like, cop slightly because you're choking on something, like, they're looking at you like they want to murder you. So I was like, you know what? I'm gonna learn how to drive. I'm just, like, funnel to deal with this, like, Uber crap.
B
Yeah. Okay, we're. Take a short break, y', all, and we'll talk more about driving in Los Angeles. And the topic at hand today.
A
Los Angeles.
B
Los Angeles. And we are back. So, Kim, it is no secret. I mean, everyone knows you are a mother. You are the makeup queen, right? Like, you. I want to say. I. I don't want to go. I mean, I am going to. Gonna go on the record saying this. Like, you. There are about five people in Drag Race that have, like, super iconic mugs, and you were, like, one of the first ones to have just a very signature, unique mug. Would you agree with that?
A
Well, thank you. I mean, I pride myself on being able to, like, achieve, like, different makeup looks effortlessly. I mean, there are so many, like, great makeup artists, you know, to have, like, come in and out of Drag Race, but. But I think it's important to venture out and, like, make your mark in the world outside of, like, the Drag Race world.
B
Yeah, agreed, agreed.
A
I've always wanted to, like, you know, get into the makeup business, because just makeup, like, when I was, like, starting drag was so expensive and the products were, like, so crappy.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, So I want to make makeup for everybody. Even if, like, you don't do drag, you don't know me. Like, that's totally fine. I just wanted to, like, create products that, like, everybody could fall in love with.
B
Did you.
C
Did you.
B
Did you start at Mac? I remember making that up.
A
No, I never started at Mac.
B
You didn't start a Mac. So you just. How did you. How did you figure it out? Because I. I learned I wasn't a YouTube girl. Well, not really, because no one did dark skin, but I would follow Petrolude. Misty. Misty Maven. Misty Maven. I learned.
A
Yeah, I'm. So initially, Pearl and I started doing drag together at the same time. So she taught me, like the very basics on just, you know, like, what products to get and then, you know, like how to contour and all that. And then after I learned the basic, it was like all self taught from that point on.
B
Got it. And you just trying shit out.
A
Just basically trying everything, trying all the different makeup and learning that most makeup out in the market at the time was not right for drag.
B
Right, Bitch. I used to spend money on, like, and again, Mac is. But I guess I didn't know how to use the products. But Misty Maven, she worked at Mac, so all of herself was max. So I would like find my shades and do everything that she did. But, like, I would buy like Studio Fix foundation that was like 55 and I was just wasting it because I didn't know what the I was doing.
A
Like, I would watch like the Miss Fame makeup tutorial. But all the products that she uses in her video are very expensive and they're also, like, very specific to her, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
I'm like, oh, my God, I just feel like I'm like burning through money, girl. And then, you know, I'll buy like those, like little Ben Nye, like, shadows that were like $20 a pan.
B
Yes.
A
A lot of the colors actually weren't pigmented. The only color that was like pigmented was like the hot pink. So then I'd always, like, use like the high pink eyeshadow. And the hot pink eye makeup was unintentionally my signature for a while when I started, because it was hard to find, like, good pigmented stuff.
B
Yeah. And then so. Well, I haven't. I've never asked you this. I always wanted to know. So because you also, like, you had a really big Instagram before you got on Drag Race. Like, was that because of the makeup or because you were doing all those Neverland parties? Like, how did your Instagram get so popping?
A
So there were two turning points. So the first turning point was, you know, just doing all the Neverland parties. And before, not like it is now, but before. The anticipation for new seasons every year was so big, so everyone would speculate, like, who's gonna be in next season. And then people vote on, like, all these, like, random sites and, like, who they want to see. And my name was somehow, like, would always be, like, on those lists.
B
Yeah, I remember those.
A
Do you remember? Yeah, yeah.
B
Yes, I remember those. And you all. Yeah, people. We would all. It would be going on Facebook, the link, and you would vote for the person we really wanted to do. And you were always on there. Mayhem Miller was always on there.
A
Always on there. Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
And. And there was, like, before, like, now, like, people, like, don't care, but before the bars would do, like, cast release parties, like, new season, you know, like, announcement parties and things like that. Like, because Drag Race was just, like, a phenomenon, and it was just like, a big event to look forward for.
B
Yeah.
A
Now there's, like, so many seasons, and bars don't care. Whatever. They're like, we have Drag Race on. Come watch it if you want, you know?
B
Yeah, for sure. That's so sad. I miss those days, honestly.
A
And then second turning point was so when they announced the cast for season seven, there was no Asian Queen on season seven. And somehow there was this rumor that there's a secret Asian queen on the season that they haven't announced. And for some reason, everybody assumed that secret Asian queen was me. I have no idea why. And, like, I would get so many followers every day, and I'll get so many, like, DMS on people asking me, like, are you the secret Asian queen?
B
And then I'm like, the secret Asian queen. I can't.
A
Like, why would Drag Race do a secret agent queen? And who started this rumor?
B
Oh, random.
C
But.
B
Yeah, but it got you. Like, I. I don't know how I remember this, but, like, before the cast announced, you had, like, over, like, 50,000 followers. Like, that's a fact that, like, that's. That's in my head. Or am I making that up?
A
I think so. I. I feel like that was so long ago. That was, like, almost 10 years ago.
B
I know. Yeah, I know.
A
Like a blur in my head.
B
Work. Okay, so to get your iconic look, Kim. The iconic Kim look. Because you also. I think that because we've been friends for so long, and I've just seen your face for so long now, your makeup doesn't look crazy to me. It doesn't look big. It looks like, to me, it looks like normal because I've seen you so much. Do you. Do you think that your makeup is big still?
A
I think it's not as big as it used to be.
B
Really smaller.
A
Because before I used to wear, like, 30 pairs of lashes at once. Like, my eyeliner will be, like, up to here.
B
Okay.
A
Like, it's still big, but it's not. It's just not as big as I used to be.
B
Gotcha.
A
I think before I was, like, a full on, like, maximalist. You know, like, the hair has to be the biggest hair. The lashes have to be the biggest lash. The eyeliner has to be the biggest. Like, you know, like, the nails have to be the longest.
B
Yeah.
A
Now I'm just like, yeah. I don't need to dwell.
B
Well, speaking of that, yo, Bob tells a story all the time about how you and Naomi would come for his makeup on season eight. All the time say that because he was apparently really in his feelings. Y' all was saying he wasn't wearing any makeup.
A
I mean, honestly, you know, like, at the time, I mean, we all knew Bob was going to win. You know, while the season was filming, we knew Bob was going to win, you know, like, hands down. Yeah. Yeah. And also, we didn't want to win because, like, it doesn't matter who you are. The winner gets, like, so much backlash from the fans.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
It's actually, like, really insane. And even. Even if you don't win, you still get backlash from people saying, like, this is why you didn't. You know, it's just.
B
Yeah.
A
It's a lot to deal with, you know, like. Like, Naomi and I, we never want to win. Like, we're just happy to be there. We're happy to be featured in every episode. We were happy to, like, show the looks that we got to show, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
But, you know, while the film is going on, you know, Bob loves to, like, make fun of everybody, you know, it's just. That's just who Bob is, you know, And. And Bob had it. You know, Bob was, like, killing in all the challenges, you know? So the only thing that we had on Bob was his makeup. You know, that's sort of like the. The chip in the china,
B
you know, girl, that probably drove him crazy. He was like.
A
But to be fair, I mean, to be fair, some of the makeup was really crunchy.
B
And I think Bob, when we. We did season eight for Watch for you one time, we went back and we talked about that, and he knows. He knows. I mean, Bob is not crazy. Well, that's not true. Bob is crazy. But she knows.
A
But, you know, if you want to come for Bob, the makeup was the only thing we could come for her.
B
Right, right. So now, this week, you celebrate. Well, this is gonna. Yeah, this week. This week, you celebrated four years of kimchi shik beauty. Congratulation. So I remember when we were on Work the world in 2019, you were, like, that very first day, it was you, myself, Naomi and Aquaria. That when Aquaria was acting wild.
A
Oh, my God. In that dressing room. It was Madrid, yo. For some reason, we didn't even have a real dressing room at that venue. For some reason. And they shoved four of us into a tiny room with like one table.
B
Tiny.
A
And it was hot as hell in there.
B
So hot. And it was like the first day of the tour. So, like, y', all, like, when we do these big tours, like, the first day is always like the first couple shows. You know, it's kind of like the dress rehearsals. Like, we're trying to get all of our costume pieces, all the dancers. Like, it's.
A
We have to do like a dress rehearsal and then we still have to get ready for the meet and greet. And the first day is just insane.
B
It's insane. So it's like myself, Kim, Naomi, and Aquaria in this tiny room. And Aquaria is just on like 12. She's like running. She's like, she's like, she has her outfit on, but she's getting ready for the show, painting herself, but she has no pads on. And then she's running out of the dressing. She's tripping on bags. I was like, aquaria, you are making me crazy. Sit down, girl.
A
And for some reason, she decided to, like wear blue shadow that day. But then she decided she hated her blue eyeshadow. So she will not stop talking about this blue eyeshadow when I'm like, your makeup is literally perfect. Like, I don't know what you're talking about.
B
Yes. And then y', all, she's harping, she's just going off on this blue shadow every five seconds. Like, and then. And then the criminals goes, aquaria, you look beautiful. Your makeup looks great. The blue eyeshadow is fine because we were like, individually.
A
Naomi was like, aquaria, shut the up. Do you remember that?
B
Yes, I do. It was so good. And this is my first time doing work the world. So I was just living. I was. Everything was so funny. I had. It was a blast. I love that.
A
Oh yeah, that. That tour was fun. That tour was also really fun because, you know, every time, like every day when we like finish the show and we eat our catered meal and we get on the bus and we had our switch hooked up to the tour bus.
B
Yes, yes.
A
And then every day until, like, we pass out, we play like intense game of like Super Smash Brothers with everybody on the tour bus. Uh huh. Everybody brought their controller and sometimes it would be like an eight person game, two person game, four person game, but wild.
B
Oh my God. I wish I had that Black mirror episode where I could, like, put that thing and, like, rewind and. Because I. I missed that stuff was so fun. And then this one dancer, Jeremy Kim, would just bully him and smash all the time, and he would get so frustrated and so angry that, I mean,
A
it's not my fault. Like, your character keeps getting killed by my Jigglypuff, you know?
B
And he would. Y', all. He would get, like, legit. But he was trying to play it off like he wasn't mad. He's like, like, what the fuck, man? It was good.
A
And honestly, like, Jigglypuff is very easy to counter, you know?
B
Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. But when we were in Madrid, I remember you gave me, like, this. You were. You were sampling, like, you, like, testing out your powders and stuff with her, with us. Like, you, like, gave me, like, a thing of the. Of the puff, puff, pass and like, him when you, like, if you. If you want, like, you just, like, tell me, like, how it. How it, like, feels like, how it holds up and stuff like that, which I find. I think it's so smart. But also I think about if you were testing it back then and, like, when it came out, like, the development time is so much. You have to really be forward thinking about, like, developing products.
A
I mean, it takes, like, a full year to develop something, you know? And so we launched Kimchi Beauty, like, right after, like, Trixie Cosmetics came out. And some of the comments I was reading was like, oh, Kimchi just piggybacking off of, like, Trixie Success, or she's just copying Trixie. And then I'm like, both of us have been working on our makeup line for, like, a year, you know, like, it doesn't work like that.
B
Yeah.
A
Or even, like, other makeup brands, when they release something, another brand releases something similar, like, a week after. And they're like, oh, this brand copied this. It does not work like that. It's just pure coincidence. You can't just quickly copy something and put something out in a week.
B
Yeah. That's not how I make a world. That shit takes so long. Let me tell you something. That shit takes forever. Like, but since also, can you talk about fudgeing the puff, puff past blowing up on TikTok?
A
Oh, my God, it's insane. It just randomly blew the puff of past the concealer. Like, the lipstick. Like, I feel like a random different product was going viral, like, every other day.
B
That's so fierce. It was on my for you page. Like, I would. I would keep after Selena Kylie. Kylie's guy did said a thing about it. After that, I just kept on seeing all these videos about your powder conceded all the time. I was like, she better work, bitch. Yeah.
A
I'm really, like, grateful that people finally discovered how amazing my products are.
B
Well, I mean, honestly. And here's the thing. Y', all, like, drag queens. We wear a lot of makeup. We wear a long time. Like, why would you not trust our products? You know what I mean? Like. Like, why would you not? Like, we're not. We're not out here wearing some BB cream and a little thing. Like, we're, like, working with this shit multiple times a week. A lot of it. Like, we're going through it. Like, we know what the fuck is popping with makeup.
A
You know what we're doing. And also, I wouldn't put it out if I didn't believe in it. Like, when I get ready from, like, start to finish, I use my own products now, basically.
B
Really? All your own stuff?
A
Yeah, mostly, yeah.
B
Work, work.
A
Can't wait to try this BOMO beauty.
C
Oh, my God.
B
You got the pretty funny palette. Yay.
A
So what I think is really funny about this Beaumo, like, beauty product is you guys sent a PR of this palette to me a year after it came out.
B
I know, girl. We are over here at bomo. We are figuring it out. We are getting it together.
A
When I thought of package, and I'm like, oh, today launched something new, and I opened it, and I'm like, didn't this come out last year?
B
No, it came out in January. It's still this year. About to be a year. You're not wrong, girl. We are getting our shit together.
A
Very beautiful.
B
Oh, thank you so much. Well, can you guess who's a pretty and who's a funny?
A
You're pretty funny. And then Bob did the packaging.
B
Oh, we have 30 minutes. Okay, we're gonna take another little break, y', all, and we'll be right back to talk more about some makeup. Kikis and Aquaria with kimchi ch. All right, okay. So, Kim, I. This year, for my birthday, I want to have a. Because, you know, I. I have my. My house is almost done. I want to do a big shindig at my house this year.
A
Let's do it.
B
I want to do something local and also something away, but I don't know. I need to start, like, planning it now. It's already October, and February is, like, around the corner.
A
Book the dates. You want recommendations. I got recommendations.
B
Okay. Yes, please, please.
A
You want to go somewhere away?
B
I would Love to go somewhere away.
A
Are we having fun away?
B
Yeah, absolutely.
A
Yes.
B
Okay, wait, so I want to go back really quick. So. So here's the thing that I struggle with because. Because we are, you know, we are celebrities, and we are also in makeup. I get, like, a lot of promo packages of, like, makeups of other people's makeup that, like, of yours and Trixie's are products that I use because, like, I like the products. But what do you do with all of the other products that you. I know if. I know if I'm getting a lot. I know you were getting a bajillion from all these fucking people. What do you do with them?
A
So the makeup, like, I'll post about it, you know, because as a thank you for sending it to me.
B
Yeah.
A
And then if the products that I think I might use, I set it aside, and then the other ones, I put it in a bin, and then I give it away to, like, my girlfriends.
B
Yeah, that's what I've been doing, too. Andy's. Andy has a niece who's really into makeup. So, like, I'll, like, send her, like, some stuff that I just know I'm not gonna use. You know what I mean? Because also, they did certain products. Like, I like. I do. I do my face. I know my face is, like. Unless there's, like, different colors I want to try or try different stuff. But for the most part, I'm like, I'm pretty, like, set when I use.
A
I like. I love to try. For me, like, I always, like, swatch and test it just because, like, if someone in makeup, I love, like, seeing, like, what other people are putting out and see, like, how it goes on. But there are certain products that, like, where like sheer foundation or sheer foundation, like a sheer lipstick, you know, and like, anything, like, sheer, like, I just know, like, I'll never use, you know.
B
Right. Yeah.
A
Like, those going to bin. But skincare stuff, I'll always hold on to get.
B
Oh, I got a skincare thing from Kiehl's, a box full of deal stuff. I was very grateful for it. Also, Tata sent me a box of, like, skincare stuff. And Tata is expensive. And I said, I want air. Lamar, send me something. La Mer.
A
Have you ever used pharmacy?
B
No, I don't know. What's pharmacy?
A
Their makeup remover is really, really good. I'm not being paid to say this. Okay, so have you ever used Then I Met yout?
B
No.
A
Then I Met you. It's just, like, Korean brand. But all of their skin stuff feels so luxurious. Oh, my God. It feels so nice on my skin.
B
Okay. Then I met you. I mean, right now, Jesus, I need to thank God. I have my little posters here, y'.
C
All.
B
Kim is always like, a wealth of knowledge. Kim. Kim and Willem are two of my friends that, like, you mentioned something, and they have an entire thing of recommendations for the thing that you talked about. Then I met you.
A
We're like good people to bring on trivia game nights.
B
You and Willem.
A
I don't know about Willem, but me.
B
So. Yes. Oh, my God. So we. So Kim, Rob Anderson, and I, we're supposed to hang out in New York the other day, but Kim canceled on us.
A
I didn't cancel. So we're supposed to hang out on Wednesday, but I miscalculated the days that I was in New York, and I had to fly out Wednesday morning. So I was like, can you all hang out on Tuesday, like, instead? And everybody said no. And I'm like.
B
Because we were on set. We were filming a thing. We were on set, like, for, like, 14 hours. It was so long.
A
What did you film?
B
It's this. We filmed for this series coming out for something. I'll tell you.
A
Okay. It was.
B
It was really cute. We were. We were co host for this thing together.
A
I saw a picture of two of you, and I'm like, damn, they both look so skinny.
B
I know.
A
Skin tea. Give me some of that skinny energy.
B
Oh, I need. I. We have not. I've not done a game that in so long. I need to do one. I know. Yeah.
A
Oh, my God.
C
So we did one like, three weeks ago.
B
We did.
A
Y' all did a game night?
B
Did we do it? Oh, yes. It was you, Mikey, myself, Andy and Danny, Dan and Jen. I forgot. I forgot we did one. Well, let's do, like, another one. We also. I mean, here's the thing. In my new house, I'm excited because I'm gonna have way more space to have just, like, really epic parties and game nights. I'm out.
A
Here's game night.
B
Yes. I want with this house. I'm going to be my party game night era down. I'm very excited about it.
A
I should host more game nights, too. Like, I keep buying all these, like, entertaining, like, homeware, like, cheese board sets and, like, party glasses and, like, cheese plates and things like that. But I'm like, I don't host anything, so I'm like, why do I keep buying this stuff that I'm not going to use?
B
Okay. Kim makes a great charcuterie. Also, once I have a game night at her house, Kim made this fucking loaded baked potato dip.
A
Mm.
B
Girl, that shit is so good. And you have it with like. And here's the thing. It wasn't like the little flimsy little, little chips, y'.
A
All.
B
She had like the thick, wavy, uh huh. The good chip so that when you get a nice scoop, it don't snap off.
A
It don't break.
B
It don't break, girl. It stays together. Oh, that shit is so. Next time we do a game like him, I'm a request. A little baked potato dip.
A
Oh, girl, I'll bring. I love to bring dips to game night. I love it also. Oh, my God. The last time Monet did a game night, Rachel Bloom was there.
B
Oh my God.
A
And like, I am such a huge fan of her. And I've been a fan of her even before she was on television when she was like, on YouTube. And I was like, don't fangirl out. Just like, be normal. Like, just treat her like any other human being. And I called her stupid. And she's like, you called me stupid? And I'm like, yes.
B
Well, I met. Also, I met. Are you. Are you. Are you a fan of Atsuko the comedian?
A
Yes, I love Atsuko.
B
Yeah, we met at jfk. JFK at LAX a couple weeks ago. And we like. Well, she had on this, like, really. She. Oh, she has really dope airport clothes. So I saw her, she had this like, big, like, fucking robe on and stuff. So I just like. And I recognized who she was. I went up to her, I was like, hi, you have no idea who I am, but I'm really. I'm obsessed with your comedy and I think you look great. She goes, oh, my God, Monet. And I was like, oh, my God, Asuko. And then so we, like, exchanged information and she's like, next time you do game night, invite me, please. Like, I want to come and do a game night. Me and my husband, please. Yeah, that'll be fun.
A
She invited me to her birthday party or no, her housewarming party or something like that. And she's like, oh, Chelsea Handler, be there. And then she like, lists all these celebrities and I'm like, I can't go to this party.
B
Why? Kim. Kim, you are a celebrity.
A
But like, these are like actual celebrities. I know.
B
Okay, here's the thing.
A
I just can't. Like, you're.
B
Go ahead.
A
What? Like actual celebrities, right? I just don't know what to say to them because there's nothing I can tell them that they haven't Heard million times.
B
Yeah.
A
And I was like, would I even want to talk about their work? Because I don't want to talk about my work when I'm hanging out, you know?
B
Right. I struggle with that, too. Like, you know, with some, like, with our podcast and just, like, personally, like, I become friends with Chelsea Handler. And then, like, again, y', all, I've said this on the podcast before. I'm, like, a huge Chelsea Handler fan. I've been a fan of Chelsea since Chelsea lately. Like, I watched every episode of that. I watch every sort of Chelsea on Netflix. All of a sudden, I'm up. I think she's so funny. It's so brilliant. And then so now it's like, this weird space. Like, I don't want to obviously bring that stuff up when we hang out, but I'm like. I'm like. I'm, like, insecure that my conversation will be good enough to, like, hang out with her and, like, talk. You know what I mean? I'm like. I'm so insecure about that.
A
Yeah. Like, am I even funny enough to be around Chelsea Handler? You know?
B
Yeah. That's how I feel, too. That's how I feel. But I'm like, you know what? And, like, do you. Do you consider yourself a celebrity?
A
I feel like maybe in the gay world, maybe I'm like a. The list.
B
You know, I think in gay world, we are, like C. B list celebrities. But it's like, overall celebrity world. I think for me, I think I'm like. I'm probably, like, an E. I mean.
A
Yeah. Like, I wouldn't even consider myself, like, a celebrity.
B
What you said, Jacob.
C
I feel like you are all your A list gay celebrities. Who would you say the A list.
B
Gay celebrities are A list gays A list.
A
Gaze. We can't even.
B
Wanda Sykes.
A
Mm. Queen Latifah. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Is she. Wait, does she identify?
B
I don't know.
A
With the community. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
B
I think.
A
Okay. RuPaul's A list.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Celebrity Lil.
B
Nas X. A list.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Yes.
B
So I guess I was. Yeah. I would say we're B. I would say we're B, not C. I think we're B list celebrities because a lot of gay people know us, obviously. But in celebrity, because it's also. In Celebrity world, I would say RuPaul is a list in regular celebrities, too.
A
See, I feel like Trixie will be B list.
B
I would say Trixie's A.
A
You know what? Trixie would be a. Trixie's A. You're right. Trixie's A. And maybe we're like bc.
B
Yeah, we're like vca. Probably like B minus. Yeah, yeah.
A
Like Adam Rippon or Gus Kenworthy will be like a. Because, like, everybody knows, you know, Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippin.
B
Yeah, I would say that. Yeah. But I mean, okay, Kim, people will literally. They literally bootleg your makeup in Santi Ali. Girl. That is like up there. People like bootlegging your products.
A
Yeah, I think that's so funny because I think my makeup is so affordable.
B
Like, also, like influencers. Like, like, will we. Will we put James Charles? Is he a list.
A
Now?
B
The now?
A
No, I'm genuinely asking because I feel like, I mean, my personal experience with James Charles, you know, I've only like met him in passing and he's always been nice, but I know, like, there's like a lot of like, issues, you know.
B
Yeah, yeah. I would say my interaction with him have always been. James has been always very nice, very kind, very sweet to me. Like, we've hung out a few times and he's always been. But again, I know that all the things like, about him that have come out. Well, I don't know all of it, but what I've heard on social media, whatever, and so I can't speak to that. But like all my personal experiences. Have you always been really kind, very nice, a nice person?
C
So.
B
But I don't know. Yeah, I mean, what do you think about Ms. Troye Sivan doing Dragon? That music, have you seen it?
A
Oh, my God. He actually not. He actually looks beautiful.
B
She did look beautiful.
C
I.
A
Wait, what's. What's Troye Sivan's pronouns? Is it he or she or they them?
B
Jacob, can you check that out for us? I don't know.
C
It's he, him, he, him.
B
Okay, he, him.
A
Okay, well, he. He looks beautiful.
B
Gorgeous. But again, he also has like a team, like getting him the together, you know?
A
Oh, for sure. You know, like, I don't expect him to. It almost looks like classic tiara. Like put him in drag, you think? I mean, like, just like that beautiful, like natural woman, but like effortlessly, you know.
B
Yeah, he looks really beautiful. And also the guy in the video was really hot too.
A
Yeah, I wish I was white and skinny and rich.
B
Because also, you know that wig on his head, you know, that's probably like a 20 inch wig. And a 20 inch wig on me is like at my shoulders. It's like in the middle of his back.
A
A 21. Shit's like a buzz cut on me, girl. Like, like, I feel like the wigs that, like, Naomi and Plastic Tiara wear backstage. And on them, it looks so long and so full and so, like, luscious. And I put it on, and somehow it all magically turns into a bob. Like, a thin, flimsy bob. I'm like, what is this magic that, like, I just make any wig look like it's, like, much thinner than it is.
B
Oh, my God. Okay. We had to talk about this, Kim. So I was telling. I told a story in the podcast before of the. Of the reckoning of Sharon Needles on the Work the World tour.
A
Oh, my God.
B
And so it was Work the World, Asia, Australia, and how we're at the Sydney airport and Kim is going into the Gucci store. Can you tell the story, Kim, from your mouth? That probably fucked me up.
A
You know, Sharon Needles will probably listen to this.
B
I mean, I've told one before. I'll tell it.
A
No, basically, like, we're going through the airport, and, you know, Sharon had her moments, you know, like, sometimes she's fun to work with, and sometimes, you know, she's like, extra. And she was just very, like, extra that day. So I saw her at the airport, so I just, like, ran into the Gucci store just to get away from her. And then she follows me into the Gucci store, and she's like, let's deal.
B
I can't.
A
I feel this is also, like, a long time ago, so, like, my memory is, like, a little cloudy now. And then I remember, like, the staff, like.
B
Well, also, do you remember that? That was also when she quit the tour. And then. So we. The last time we saw her was at, I think, an airport in Taiwan or, like, a gig in Taiwan. And then we all got to the airport because she was going home and we were going to the next city, and we were all in the Delta Lounge together. So we all rolled in there together, and she was already in there. So it was just, like, weird meeting of, like. Oh, yeah, you just.
A
Oh, yeah, you remember that?
B
She's like, we. She quit the tour, but we saw her at the airport. It was so weird, so wild.
A
So it was. I don't. I. I don't even know if I should, like, spill, like, this much tea. Like, I feel bad. I mean, you know, just, like, substance abuse and things like that, you know?
B
Yeah, for sure.
A
But that day, like, during the show, like, the whole, like, closing was, like, thrown off because, you know, she just had a lot of fun that day.
B
Yeah. Yeah. When I tell you, like, like, the dance move is for all of us, like, Go this way. Sharon Neal is going the opposite way. Doing a twirl, Doing a backflip. We're like. It was that. That tour was so wild. That was also when we were chasing Covid around the tour. Every time we go to the city, one of the production people got stopped because he had too many poppers in his bag. Yeah.
A
But after that show that day, we all texted, like, in the group chat, like, hey, let's be conscious and like, listen. Let's, like, be professional, you know, and maybe like, you know, like, have fun, like, after the show, you know, just something along those lines, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
And then. Yes. She wrote a giant poem for all of us.
B
I don't remember that.
A
And then. Do you remember? It was like a group text. And then it was basically like a poem for each one of us. And then she left the tour. I wonder if it's, like, somewhere, like, in my drafts.
B
I don't remember that.
A
Let me search.
B
I. Let me tell you something. Kim and Naomi will screenshot everything. I am sure you saved that picture. I know that is somewhere in your.
A
In your.
B
In your file.
A
Let's see.
B
Oh, my God. If you have that, please do a dramatic reading of it.
A
Oh, my God.
B
That's what. That's exactly why I don't ever delete. Delete text messages. I have every text message I've ever sent from my iPhone.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
So that means I probably have it too.
A
But wait, hold on.
B
I think search wtw. Let me see what the world.
C
Work.
B
Wcw. Wcw Asia, Australia.
A
I think it was like a. Maybe like a queen group text.
B
Oh, okay. Yeah. Because we would always send a secret.
A
Everyone Asia Queen chat. Just different Asian queen chat.
B
Oh, my God. Y'. All. These group chats used to be. So remember, this is also the one where John removed all of us. Oh, he moved. They removed all the dancers from. This was so wild.
A
Yes, yes, yes, yes. A lot of drama happens on this tour.
B
This tour was so wild. Oh, my God.
A
It's not the canceled queens.
B
Canceled queens.
C
This is a little bit too much of looking at phones.
B
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
A
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
B
Okay, wait. So Jacob prepared a game for us. Kim, Jacob is going to show us different Hot or not.
A
Fuck, marry, kill.
B
You're going to show it just the eyes of a queen, and we have to see if we can guess what queen it is just from.
A
Just from the eye.
C
So there are 10 different queens, and you're just going to say it as soon as you guess. And whoever gets the most out of the 10 is going to win the game.
B
I'm probably very good.
A
And what's the price for winning?
B
The winner gets a lifetime supply of kimchi chi cosmetics.
A
Lifetime supply of fomo. You just get the pretty funny palette in the mail every month.
B
Touche. Touche. All right, Jake, are you gonna do it on the screen here?
C
Yep, I am.
B
Work off the top of the. I'm trying to think what queens have iconic. Oh, all right, There we go.
C
Okay. Can you see it?
B
It's white right now. No.
C
Yeah, yeah. All right.
B
Okay, so we're gonna.
C
We're moving to the first one.
B
Okay. Also, if you want to see this, y', all, you better go to the Patreon and subscribe to our Patreon to see this game in real time or otherwise, you're going to have to listen to this part, honey.
C
All right.
B
Okay.
C
One, two, three.
B
Valentina.
A
Valentina.
B
Who said it first?
C
You make up that a little bit first.
B
Yes, clearly. You know why? It's okay. So Valentina's eyebrows and this, like, it's so also the color of the hair, too, gave.
A
Yeah. And those brows does have brought their very signature, like Valentine's Day.
B
Valentina. Yeah. Oh, that makeup is beautiful. Look at that.
A
I know. Valentina's so stunning. Oh, I'm so happy for her.
B
Me, too. I really am.
A
She's crazy, but I'm happy for her.
B
Same. I. I love her so much. She's great. All right, watch.
C
One, two, three.
A
Bianca Del Rio.
B
Yeah. You know what? It's the. Oh, it's the contact and that goddamn eyebrow. Yeah. Bianca. Yeah, Bianca has. Yeah, Bianca has a very signature mug. I guess everyone's mug is quote unquote signature, but. Yeah, but this is very Bianca, very Bianca work.
C
One, two, three.
B
Oh, I don't have no idea.
A
Aquaria.
C
That is correct. Kid, you better work.
B
Damn. You know, Aquaria always changes. She tries different makeup a lot, too. She, like, changes. Yeah, but this is her. Yeah.
A
I could only tell because of, like, that little hair color in the corner. I feel like only a Korea would, like, rock down.
B
Oh, I see it. Yeah. Work. Yeah. Give it a word.
C
All right. One, two, three.
B
Bob the Drag Queen.
A
Bob.
C
I'm gonna give that to Monet.
B
What is.
A
What is that glitter in the bottom lash?
B
I don't know. I know, girl. That is old glitter from those. Those lashes. Girl, that's glitter. That's on the last, for sure.
C
All right, you're tied right now, two to two.
A
All right.
C
One, two, three.
