Monet X Change
and I'm Monet's change. And this is simply rivalry. On this week's episode, we talk about how Bob spends his birthday.
Bob the Drag Queen
We talk about new music versus old R& B.
Monet X Change
Well, you got real old R and B. And we find out what made Bob say this.
Bob the Drag Queen
Also, are y' all motherfuckers stapling the sheets to the bed like these sheets be in the it's crazy. And we find out what made Monet say this.
Monet X Change
It's very Gen Z. It's very like relaxed. It's very, like, not a lot of energy. It's very that shining, shining, shining, shining. Why you be dressing up in the podcast lately? This nigga be dressing up since they started complimenting you of like, oh my God, Bobby looks so nice in your little denim romper. She's all she knows she want to look snazzy for the podcast.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think I have a History of wearing button up shirts for the podcast.
Monet X Change
Not always a history.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Meaning in the past. I've worn a lot of button up shirts in the podcast.
Monet X Change
Okay. In that case, you can say you have a history of existing. You have a history of like, you
Bob the Drag Queen
can just the word history of existence. That's correct. They do.
Monet X Change
When you say I have a history of, you give something a lot of weight and a lot of gravitas that I don't think you have a. Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I feel like if I think about the things that I've worn on the podcast and in general, there's usually. There's usually only three things. I'm usually wearing a T shirt, one of my little sacks, or a shirt that buttons to the top. And those are pretty much the only three things that I wear, like in general. Button up shirt sack or a T shirt. And I'm in the button up shirt era right now. Which I feel like if we scan through the podcast and look through episodes, we'll see that pattern repeated over and over again.
Monet X Change
Do you. But do you acknowledge that saying something has history is. Gives it like a lot of weight? Like.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. And I think that I've worn a lot of button up shirts on the podcast. I think that that is a. I don't think it is a far fetched notion that I have worn a lot of button up shirts on the podcast.
Monet X Change
The term history just feels. Does not feel like it fits this conversation.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well. I'm talking about me and my fashion, the way I dress, and it feels like it fits. I have a history of wearing button up shirts in the pockets.
Monet X Change
Stop saying the word history. Stop saying the word history.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't understand what the big. The big deal is with me saying I have a history of wearing button up shirts in the podcast.
Monet X Change
It's also. I said this before. It's also your thing of. What is it as a rule? I don't. What is it? What do you say?
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, there are certain things, like I don't give relationship advice to my friends.
Monet X Change
As a rule.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't give relationship advice.
Monet X Change
No. About scheduling stuff. Like, as a rule, I don't schedule.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't schedule myself as a rule.
Monet X Change
It's just so heavy. Like, as a rule, it just looks so heavy.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, that's my way of setting a stand. That's my way of setting boundaries. If someone's like, would you like to do this? And I'm like, as a rule, I don't do that. That's my way of also saying, like,
Monet X Change
I pay someone else to do that. So don't ask me to do it.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, no. It's like when I say under no circumstances. So when you say under no circumstances, I feel like you're setting a boundary that you're like, just so you know, there is not a scenario that you can come up with where I will end up where I will end up doing this. You can come with a B through A through Z and it will never result in, you know, this outcome. So I think as a rule and you know, under no circumstances are some great ways to set boundaries for yourself.
Monet X Change
My sweet little bobber. I tried to call you a few times yesterday. And I am not coming at this in a combative way or any type of energy. I was just saying yesterday was your birthday and I tried to get in contact with you, but it was your birthday. You're probably really busy. I know you're working, so I didn't get to tell you happy birthday. On your birthday yesterday, I called you
Bob the Drag Queen
three times and I guess our schedules didn't align.
Monet X Change
You call me two times yesterday?
Bob the Drag Queen
Three times when I've seen the screengrabs, but I called you three times.
Monet X Change
I will literally post mine right here.
Bob the Drag Queen
I always tell you this. Whenever you don't get the call, it's either because you didn't have service, maybe your phone was in airplane mode, but whenever you don't get the missed call, it's because you didn't have any service. I'm not saying you ignored my call, but I am saying I did call you three times yesterday. Which usually if someone calls someone, they do not receive the call, that means that they didn't have service. So you notice when you land, you don't have a bunch of missed calls. That's not like when you. When you fly a whole flight from like here to Australia, it's not that no one called you for 24 hours. It's just that you didn't receive any of the calls. That's how those calls are.
Monet X Change
I think in my experiences living my life yesterday, I don't believe there was a time. Actually, you're. I might be correct. I recorded. I was in a recording session for six hours yesterday. So you may have called me in that timeframe where I had to have my phone on airplane mode. So I take that back.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay.
Monet X Change
And you're right, you probably did contact me. You're.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know what I mean? I did. This is not a question.
Monet X Change
I believe you. I am in this moment. I'm having a real time in realization that you probably absolutely right. I Called you yesterday morning around 9 o'. Clock. So it makes sense.
Bob the Drag Queen
Otherwise, why would I lie? Why would I lie about. Why would I lie about that?
Jacob
I said you were.
Bob the Drag Queen
I just say you were.
Monet X Change
I'm literally. I am literally saying, you know what? You're not.
Bob the Drag Queen
But you did give a little bit of pushback. And I was like, why would I lie about that? Yeah, I called you, but we just didn't. We just didn't line up. I don't think it's. I really don't think it's. Into the world. I was fielding a lot of phone calls yesterday and my phone died pretty early in the day.
Monet X Change
Well, it's a little. Because I Facebook video called you. Cause I had, like, a little ditty I was gonna do for you. But so I will admit, when my Facebook video call was not answered, I was a little perturbed. But I quickly gathered those feelings. Cause I recognized, you know what? It is your birthday, and I want you to do whatever you do on your birthday. My feelings aside,
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm glad you had that moment of clarity.
Monet X Change
Thank you so much. How was your birthday?
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, it was a great day. It was. My birthday was a lot. There was a lot going on.
Jacob
And
Bob the Drag Queen
it was. It was a fine day. It was.
Monet X Change
It was.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was. There was some really great. There was some really, really great moments. There was some, like, annoying stuff going on. That's when. That's when I was trying to call you. But I had fun. I went, I saw some friends. I hung out with Two Face and
Monet X Change
Garquifa Taylor.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do what? Garquifa who?
Monet X Change
Garquifa Hall. You went to the Garquaquita, Two Face
Bob the Drag Queen
Taylor, Trixie, Big Frida, Boy Radio.
Monet X Change
Oh, y' all all went out last night?
Bob the Drag Queen
No, I was just bouncing around. I was bouncing around.
Monet X Change
What was Trixie doing in New York?
Bob the Drag Queen
Trixie was doing her Solid Pink disco and she had Big Frida, Amanda Lepore, which. I mean, I don't really know Amanda Lepore like that. I mean, I know Amanda Lepore, but we're not like buddies or anything.
Monet X Change
Right?
Bob the Drag Queen
But I did get to hang out with Big Freeda, which I don't see Big Freeda a ton, but it was cool to just chat with her. We were like, talking about just music and her Queen of Bound, her Row youw Boat.
Monet X Change
Well, Big Freeda is the center of a little discourse right now. Because she played a character on a children's show or she voiced a character's show.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's like a very. It's called Gracie have you seen Gracie's Corner?
Monet X Change
Haven't seen Gracie's Corner.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is like one of the most popular kids shows on YouTube. It's like huge work.
Monet X Change
And then so she voiced the character on there. And then now, of course, these dumb motherfuckers coming out there and be like, yo, how can y' all have a man voice? A female character? She's not a man. And like, I don't think that BigFeed
Bob the Drag Queen
wasn't big free to. Wasn't playing a female character. Big Freedom was playing herself.
Monet X Change
So Big Frida is a, is a, is a trans woman.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know. I don't know that Big Frida identifies as a trans woman.
Jacob
Does she?
Monet X Change
I thought she.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think, I don't think Bigfried identifies as a trans woman. I mean, I could be wrong. I think that people, you know.
Monet X Change
Oh, well, I stand corrected.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, I don't. I. I might not be right. No, no. Big Freeda is gender non binary. And she's not. She's gender non conforming.
Monet X Change
Got it?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. She says I'm gender non conforming fluid, non, non binary. If I had known the Queen and Queen Diva would cause so much confusion, I might just call myself the King. That is a page from a Wikipedia thing. So she's. She's truly one of. She just really doesn't conform to the construct of gender.
Monet X Change
Yeah, she's. She lives as a motherfucking deity. As she, as she. As she should. And. But it's this whole discourse online which,
Bob the Drag Queen
which does seem to cause confusion for people who don't construct of gender outside of the binary. But that's also not her business to accommodate. Accommodate in whole space. To, to not confuse those people.
Monet X Change
I will say, like, I just, I just. Those people who, who reject the notions agenda nonconformity and being non binary and all those things. Those people who just. Who as a rule who have a history of just rejecting those things. I'm like, if they realized how fucking colorful and dope their fucking world would be if they just gave themselves an ounce of that. If they just allow themselves to experience that without their stupid biases and all these things that they come in with, their world will be so much fucking better. It just. And I'm like, y' all stupid people are robbing yourselves of so much fun in your goddamn life. It's so crazy to me.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, you know, for some. I think for some people, existing within the binary is really affirming for them. And it is.
Monet X Change
Can't relate.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, same I mean, literally same. I, I don't. I don't get a lot of, or practically any what you're looking for, affirmation from existing within the gender, not binary. But. But also, there are things that I, I don't think that anyone can completely escape the gender binary as a concept. Right. I think that just by. Just by dressing up in drag, we are acknowledging that there is a gender binary that we are stepping outside of. That's true. I don't think that acknowledging the gender binary makes. I don't think either one is good or bad. But I do agree that for me, once I started going fluid between the two and acknowledging myself outside of manhood and womanhood, my life got a lot better, and I feel like I got a better understanding of myself. But for some people, crossing the gender binary and being really strict about it has really affirmed them. And for some people, staying within the gender binary that they were assigned at birth has really helped them, too. You know, for some people, some AFAB people really just leaning into their womanhood is a big part of their affirmation for themselves. And, And I think that maybe there's a little space for all that.
Monet X Change
Wait, so do y' all have yesterday off or you. You had yesterday because it was your birthday?
Bob the Drag Queen
I. I had yesterday. Well, a lot of us had yesterday off. Yeah. And I had yesterday off, too. Yeah, it was, it was. It wasn't because of me.
Monet X Change
Everybody off on my birthday.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, it was. It was not because of me. It was just a coincidence that, that we had yesterday off.
Monet X Change
Imagine if you rolled out into the clubs, into these streets with Madonna. Just.
Bob the Drag Queen
I did.
Monet X Change
She was out with you.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not yesterday. But, you know, me and Madonna and Jacob all went to ota. I was, you know, LEGO Giovera is a friend of mine, and I was going to OTA every Monday for months. And. And then one day I was like, I'm. I was like, I'm going to get Madonna to come. This is going to be great. And I told her, I was like, girl, you need to come to ota. And she, she came out and she had a good time. And me, Jacob, was up there in a VIP with Madonna.
Monet X Change
That's hilarious.
Bob the Drag Queen
I guess we didn't, we didn't tell you that yet. Hanging out, it was, it was really. It was really a key.
Monet X Change
I'm talking about you, like, going to, like, hardware, going to industry, going to pieces.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, like, club hopping.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Clubhouse Madonna. That would be. That would be so funny to me.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can see whether that would be hilarious.
Monet X Change
People Would be. People would go up, imagine strolling some. Strolling to Queen with Madonna. And the opening number is I'm Madonna.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, it was honestly low key giving that at ota. Like, that was. I mean, not. But there wasn't. No, we weren't doing Bitch, I'm Madonna. It was like. It was. We were at the fucking gay club with Madonna. It was wild.
Monet X Change
Yeah. I never been to ot. I've never been to an ota. OTA is something that was not around when I was a little 14 year old sneaking into Escalita and shits. So I don't even. I don't know what the OTA experience is. Like a Kiki function. I don't know what the experience is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, yeah, it is. And it's, you know, it doesn't seem too different than. Well, not too different. It kind of has some of the energy of, like, Vogue nights. You ever do Vogue nights?
Monet X Change
No. Well, I mean, yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. It kind of has like some of the same energy as Vogue nights, but obviously it's not as intense as like a latex ball. Latex ball.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know, it feels lighter and it feels like a place where you can. I feel like if you're new to ballroom, OTA is probably a great place for you to go, especially if you want to get your feet wet and walk. Some categories. I would 10 out of 10 recommend going to OTA if you're not.
Monet X Change
My favorite thing is anytime someone does anything in the world of Vogan online, they'll be like, oh, watch out.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, AJA does the pre show at ota. Aja does the pre show.
Monet X Change
So what does that mean?
Bob the Drag Queen
There's like a show right before OTA. So OTA happens at like 1 in the morning, 1:30 in the morning. Ish. And before OTA, there is a. Like a. Like a pre show that AJA does. It used to be hosted by, you know, Jasmine. Lady Jasmine.
Monet X Change
Lady Jasmine Van Wales, who.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Wears her hair up in the big old tv. Usually with the hair up in a bun. Yep.
Advertiser
Huh.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. You know. Yeah, we used to. We used to always have on her the monster honey.
Monet X Change
She was hilarious.
Bob the Drag Queen
She does those legendary hand performances. And if y' all ever seen that one woman online who does the hand performance where she's like, ODing on, like, drugs. It is like, it is iconic. That's her work. She's also one of those folks, like, with like nine last names. She's like Jasmine Ota. Jasmine. Like Lady Jasmine Jasmine Van Wales. Like one of those people.
Monet X Change
Wait, really quick. We're going to break. Have you ever met Princess. Have you ever met Princess Diandra, bitch?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes. I used to work at Lucky James with her.
Monet X Change
Princess Deandra.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes, baby, I know. Princess Deondra. Give me my coins. Give me my shekels. Give me my bit. My. We're on the way back.

Bob the Drag Queen
Princess Diandra is one of those people. So Princess Deandra is a legendary drag queen in New York City.
Monet X Change
So good.
Bob the Drag Queen
And she's quite possibly one of the best performers I think I've ever seen.
Monet X Change
Diana Ross down with my own eyes.
Bob the Drag Queen
I've seen her do one of the best Patti LaBelles that has ever.
Monet X Change
Oh, yeah, Patti's really good.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, but she's not. She wasn't actually doing Patti. She was just lip syncing Patti.
Monet X Change
Yeah, the lip syncing.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. Herself, she did.
Monet X Change
Not really good too.
Bob the Drag Queen
She does do a Diana Ross impersonation, but she was just doing Patti LaBelle as herself. And I remember seeing her at the Ritz and we were just. Everyone was just going crazy. And I met her when I started working at Lucky Chang's. That's when I met a lot of the queens, like Mayuko or Japanese fucking bitch. That's. Her drag name is Japanese fucking bitch.
Monet X Change
Oh, my God.
Bob the Drag Queen
Mayuko's drag. So her name is Mayuko, but her
Monet X Change
drag name is Clarify. They're like Bob Hay, Japanese people.
Bob the Drag Queen
No. And of course, I mean, tor a dress and like, all these queens. And Lucky Chang's was like a place kind of where almost kind of like a drag time capsule, especially, because once they move uptown, we kind of split into two. There's, like, not too lucky, but there's like, the girl. The new girls who were hired on the uptown location, and then all the
Monet X Change
Lower east side girls, which was a low. She was from, like, the Lower east side days.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. But she became a one of. But she was considered one of the newer girls because she was like, our age. But she did start on the Lower east side. There was a lot of girls. So the newer girls like me, Thorgy, Lily, Heavenly. Who else?
Monet X Change
Summon up Delilah Brooks.
Bob the Drag Queen
Roxy was like, divine.
Monet X Change
Roxy Brooks. Delilah Brooks.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, A lot of us, but, yeah. Why would you ask about versus Deandra?
Monet X Change
Because I don't know. I had a gig with her, like, a few years ago with screaming queens, and she was just so funny, and the way she talks. We were talking about ballroom, and she talks in a very, like, old school ballroom, New York City cadence to her speech. And I just think she just. She's just so funny to me.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, a lot of the queens from Lucky Things too. I remember being there, I would be like. I would literally be like, what are y' all like? And I had been doing drag for years. At the point, I'd be like, what are y' all saying? Like, I come in. I come in with a new wig, and they'd be like, girl, I love this hat. And I'd be like, bro, that's a hat. And they would call wigs hats. I love this hat. I don't know. That's. That's not. I don't know if that's ballroom, but I just know it was, like, a part of the way the queens used to talk in New York City. Or they would always. Whenever they get time to get paid, they'd always go, baby, I'm here for my shekels. That was always the thing, Baby, I'm here for my shekels. Give me my shekels, baby. And I think that's something that a lot of them got from Deondra. I don't know where DeAndre got it from, but I know, Deondra seem to have introduced their vernacular to Lucky Chang. And my favorite thing, DeAndre says she'll go to the tables, and whenever they order drinks, she goes, nothing cold. No. She go, nothing hot, nothing frozen, and don't ask me for no goddamn mojito. That is, like, such an iconic moment.
Monet X Change
One of the biggest, like, the biggest culture shocking moments, I think, like, going, like, growing up, like, the use of the word fierce when it comes to drag versus ballroom was so different because in ballroom it means, like, it can mean bad, it can mean. It has, like, a multitude of usages, whereas in drag it only means. Or I guess now it's just queer speech because a lot of it has been co opted into the whole thing.
Bob the Drag Queen
Obviously, drag, and obviously it's only a pog in the ballroom. Have drag. I was gonna say, obviously Dragon Ballroom have a lot of crossover. I think there's kind of this notion that Dragon Ballroom are mutually exclusive, which is. Which. Which is kind of wild because ballroom was started by drag performers.
Monet X Change
Yeah. So because in ballroom, they'd be like, ooh, Miss Thing, Miss Thing, you look fierce. Like, you look bad. Oh, Miss Thing, you look fierce. Yes. Like, it's just. But in drag, you don't ever. You never use fierce as a. As a negative. It's always a positive.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I would say in the drag scene outside of ballroom. Yeah. Fierce is pretty much consistently a compliment, like, across the board, pretty much every time.
Monet X Change
I'm going to ota. I want to walk ota.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, what category do you want to walk?
Monet X Change
I would want to watch. I would want to walk Drag Queen face.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay.
Monet X Change
And I think I would also excel at. Butch Queen.
Jacob
Butch.
Monet X Change
I mean, that's all right. I want to walk realness with a twist. I think that would be. That would be very My tea.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know if Butch Queen is
Monet X Change
a category, but I meant realness with a Swiss. That would be me down. Because I will, you know, I'll come and give them realness. Give them realness and bitch, turn it and pay it and give them cut.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay. I mean, I think they'd be fierce. You know, they always post. If you go to OTA's page, they. I think every Monday, they post the. I don't actually. I'm not sure what day they post the categories, but they post the categories so that you can prepare for when you. When you. When you get there. So when you. When you go. We should. I said we should sponsor a category.
Monet X Change
What's the ota? What's ota?
Bob the Drag Queen
Instagram I think it's called, like, OT I don't have my phone next to me.
Jacob
It's open to all entertainment. Opentoall entries work.
Monet X Change
Oh, they follow me. Let me follow back.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was saying you and I should sponsor a category.
Monet X Change

Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, BOMO should sponsor a face category. Monet.
Monet X Change

Bob the Drag Queen
Have you had an opportunity to listen to Ocean Kelly's album yet?
Monet X Change
But I do love the album artwork, and I think it seems like a very beautiful concept. I have not listened to the album yet, though.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is a. It's a pretty quick listen. It's 37 minutes. Oh, you go for a walk, you can get the whole listen in in one walk. And I cannot recommend that you listen to this enough. It is a beautiful piece of work, and I'm just like Ocean Calandra. I am constantly in awe of Ocean Kelly's abilities to share his experiences and feelings through artistry and music. I mean, I just can't say enough good things about it. So you all should go listen to Ocean Kelly's.
Monet X Change
And it's all self self produced. The whole thing is just him, right?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, well, him and. And his producer, Seabreeze.
Monet X Change
Seabreeze.
Bob the Drag Queen
He also has cornbread on the. On the album the Snap. He has camera time on the album. He has b Ames on the album.
Monet X Change
I saw that. I saw. I saw the. The track list and the features. I did see that.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I. I think you'll. I was just reminded because this song, Alakazam, I feel like you would really love it just. And. And it's one of those. Listen to it. Listen to it, like, from beginning to end. This is good. This should be one of those things. Have you heard the Nikki song? The Nikki Barbie song? No. Nikki has a song on the Barbie. Is it on the Barbie?
Monet X Change
It's her and Ice Spice.
Bob the Drag Queen
I haven't heard it. Wait, is it. They have another song together.
Jacob
Do you want to. Do we want to take a break and listen to it? It's about a minute long. So they have.
Bob the Drag Queen
They have two songs together now.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Jacob
Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
Work. Let me listen to Nicki's Barbie song. Hold on. We will be back in just a second for you. I don't know, like, a whole lot of Ice Spice's music, but she has a very, like, signature flow. Like, Ice Spice has a signature Ice spice flow. It was pretty good. I'm shocked that it's so short. Like we making two minute songs.
Monet X Change
Songs are getting shorter and shorter. Girl, it's not even two minutes. It's less than two minutes. A lot of rappers have a. Like Nikki has a signature flow. Meg does.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I wasn't saying she's the only one. I'm just saying. Yeah, like she. She really has a. A signature signature.
Monet X Change
It's very Gen Z. It's very like relaxed. It's very like, not a lot of energy. It's very. That.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, I'm thinking more like.
Monet X Change
Send me a pen. She'd be like, we look at that. She'd be like, like Nikki's like. You know what I mean? It's very. Nick has a lot of energy. It's very animated.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, but I mean, so it's like it's an aqua. I didn't realize a lot of covers
Monet X Change
the last Nikki's past couple songs.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not cover.
Monet X Change
So I'm a sample sample.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Like Red Ruby the Sleaze was a sample. Nelly, Nelly Furtardo. This is sampling that she did the one with. With what's the name? With Kim Petras. That sample. That raper song alone with Kim Petra Alone. Nikki has really been in her sample bag recently.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, Nikki's also the queen of the feature. Like Nicki is. Literally. I would love to know if there is an artist who has been featured more times than Nicki Minaj.
Monet X Change
I would say those are features on her record.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't have the information on this, but it feels like she must be holding some sort of a world record for having the most features.
Monet X Change
But. But those are all people featuring on her records.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, she's featuring on people's records. Nikki is featuring on people's records.
Monet X Change
But the past three. I said were all people featuring on her.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Monet X Change
That.
Bob the Drag Queen
That aside, I'm just wondering. I still feel like Nikki must have
Monet X Change
some sort of a 50k for a personal album out.
Bob the Drag Queen
Kim Vetches was. Kim Vetches was featuring Nikki, wasn't it?
Jacob
Yes.
Monet X Change
Yeah. Like Kim. Kim was featuring on Nikki's record. Not. Not Nikki featuring in hers.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, it was. Oh, I thought. I thought. I thought it was a Kim record. I thought that was a Kim Petrus record.
Jacob
It is a Kim Petrus record.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is Kim Petrus featuring Nicki Minaj.
Jacob
Yeah, yeah.
Monet X Change
Oh, I thought it was Nicki featuring Kim.
Bob the Drag Queen
So like she. There must be. There must be some record held by Nikki for this, which is part of why she.
Jacob
Actually, I'm Looking at it right now,
Bob the Drag Queen
there are a lot of male rappers
Jacob
who just have a lot more. The most featured person is Snoop Dogg.
Monet X Change
Really?
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, you know what?
Monet X Change
Double opd.
Jacob
And then after Snoop Dogg is a Little Wayne. There were no women in the top 10 of the most artists.
Bob the Drag Queen
The thing about it too is like, I. I guess I just don't. I. I listen to. I listen to straight men rapping. I do most of my rap is ggt, girls, gays and days. And. And I was having this. Me and Monet had this. Well, Monet wasn't there. I had this. This like black family meeting on the. On the Patreon where we're just talking about black issues and things in the black queer space. And someone mentioned something that I had not thought of yet, which was that I could. I just. I'm just not in like a lot of spaces with like a lot of straight people unless I'm at work usually. And usually the straight people are like cameramen and. Or like crew who were like build a set and stuff. Because we were mentioning someone was like someone in the family meeting was like, whenever rappers date white people, there isn't really any controversy about it. Rappers, they white girl. There's any controversy about it. And I was like, yeah, I was like, I've noticed that. And then this other lady, this other lady in the Patreon was like, actually it's a big thing, but it's just in like the people who are having these conversations are often a lot of times like, like black straight women. And I was like, yeah, I guess I'm just not in a lot of spaces with like a whole bunch of straight people. To hear though, to be privy to those conversations. I was like, I just. I never heard of them. But yeah, apparently it is like a. It's a. Anyway, what I'm saying is like, obviously I'd be forgetting that the world has a lot of straight people in it, not just me and where. And where I just. Where everyone's queer. You know what I mean? I'd be like, yeah, I guess straight people are having. Moving in entire ways that I just be forgetting about. So I was like, thank you for mentioning that because, yeah, I just. I just didn't realize that.
Monet X Change
I mean, I guess I don't have that same experience because I guess you also listen to way more rap than I do. Everyone knows I'm more of an R B girl. Like, I'm a lot of Summer Walker, a lot of Sza, a lot of Tinasha. Like, that's literally like all My fucking music that I listen to all the time. And to me I feel that's very straight. Like again, there are queer RB singers out there, but a lot of the demo are like black straight women in
Bob the Drag Queen
R B. I listen to black straight women too, but usually, but usually they're rapping. I just don't. But I don't really listen to a ton of like straight men in music. Like most of the music I listen to is what I would consider ggt, you know, but I don't, I just don't listen to. But if I, and if I do listen to like straight man and music, it's probably something old that I, that I have been listening to for years. So like I like, I listen, I listen to Jay Z, you know what I mean? But I don't really. But not like any of like the new, like, like any rapper. Like pretty much after like I don't know if you're like post 2005 and you're like a straight guy in rap. I probably have. Don't know much. It's like I don't even know much of Drake's music.
Monet X Change
I don't drink music only because some of it does lean a little more R and B. Well, not R B but like for example we have like I got into not his most recent album album before Lover Boy or whatever it is because he had a song with Yeba on it. Yebba's Heartbreak is one of my favorite fucking songs I ever heard. But literally it inspired one of the record. One of the records of my new album with an artist I'm working with. Because it's just so beautiful me and I just love it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Let's talk about that when we get back.
Jacob
Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Now I was looking for fun ways
Monet X Change
to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited Premium Wireless for $15 a month is back.
Jacob
So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills, but it
Monet X Change
turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try@mintmobile.com Switch upfront payment
Advertiser
of $45 for three months, $90 for six months or $180 for a 12 month plan required. $15 per month equivalent to taxes and fees. Extra initial plan term only greater than 50 gigabytes. Me slow when network is busy.
Bob the Drag Queen
See terms like for example, I don't think, I don't think I can name a Bad Bunny song I'm not and Bad Bunny, by the way, Bad Bunny is massive.
Monet X Change
Oh When I found out that massive is not the word. Bad Bunny is colossal, girl. He is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, yeah. You know, else is insane. When I found out the Weeknd was the number one artist in the world.
Monet X Change
Isn't that crazy? I was like, oh, the weekend.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh, that was like.
Jacob
I was like.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was like, you sure it's not Doja Cat? It's.
Monet X Change
I know, yeah. The Weeknd is.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was like. I was like, are you sure? I was like, are you sure it's not Nikki? Are you.
Jacob
Are you.
Bob the Drag Queen
You're positive?
Monet X Change
Yeah. The Weeknd is out here. He is the. He is the top. He's the most, like, streamed artist on Spotify. It's like 180 by a mile, by the way.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's like a lot miles in front of the person right behind.
Monet X Change
I'm a starboy.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can't really name them that much music by the weekend, but, you know, also all these music are. They're doing. They're doing very well without my support. I think they're all doing great. You know, who's apparently a massive deal. And I just did not realize that he was like this big of a deal. Who, Ed Sheeran. Do you know he's like, hum. Like humongous. Humongous.
Monet X Change
Like bigger than the Weeknd.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, not bigger than the weekend. I'm going to reiterate. The Weeknd is literally the number one artist in the world right now. I just want to say that one more time for the record.
Monet X Change
The number one artist in the world, the Weeknd is.
Bob the Drag Queen
The Weeknd is right now currently the number one. He's, like, huge. He has the most Spotify streams, which is a part of the way that people are quantifying it, I believe.
Monet X Change
I'm about to say, are we only on Spotify?
Bob the Drag Queen
There's ticket sale, there's itunes, there's this. But Spotify is a barometer of success in the music world for sure.
Monet X Change
I don't think the Weeknd is the biggest artist in the world.
Bob the Drag Queen
He's the number one artist on Spotify.
Monet X Change
That's the only place, though. Where else?
Bob the Drag Queen
Again, I think that it is a multitude of things. I think that I don't have all the information, but I'm just reporting what I had seen on the news. The Weeknd is the number one. He's massive. He's selling more than anyone in the world right now. The weekend. The weekend, bitch. The weekend. That's what I said. I too, but it's also by a lot. So right now is the weekend number one on Spotify. Number two is Taylor Swift. And the Weeknd is about. I'm not good at math. 15 million more listeners than the person right behind him who was Taylor Swift. So it's not like. It's not like there's like, 1 million. There's 106. No, 106 million people listen to the Weeknd. 91 million people listen to Taylor Swift. So it is literally 16 million more people listening, which is wild. But he's. He's huge. He just. He's just. He's massive.
Monet X Change
I didn't know that he was number five. She's.
Bob the Drag Queen
If you would have told me that Ed Sheeran was number three in the world, I would have been like, the shape of you guy. That would have blown my mind. Blown my mind.
Monet X Change
I just think there also. There are so many avenues to measure this. So, like, you're never really going to get, like, a true answer. Like, sure, we can, like, use Spotify monthly listeners as a type of, like, a metric, but there's, like, no way to really tell.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, there's some way. I don't have the way. There is some metric that people could use where they compare ticket sales to itunes, to radio play, to Spotify, to YouTube views, to TikTok streams. I'm sure there's someone out there who has all those numbers. I do not have them. And I don't think it takes away the validity that the Weeknd is doing really well. Like, he's great, and I'm not here to take away his.
Monet X Change
I'm not here to take away the Weeknd. I think the Weeknd is great. My first when I realized one of his songs was when he came out with that song, and it's that iconic video where he has the girl in the split. She has the X's on her butt, and it does the dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun. That's how I became aware of the weekend. I was like, oh, wow, he's great. That was like, my first intro to the weekend.
Bob the Drag Queen
So when I think of the top five, I think it's the Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna. Am I missing one?
Monet X Change
That's cool. Rihanna has not put out an album in over five years, and she is still. That is a testament to how fucking great these. Her records are still, like, fucking dope. They're still lit.
Bob the Drag Queen
So when it comes to the top four, two of them are straight men, and I can only name one of each of their songs. I can only name one of the Weeknd songs and one of Ed Sheeran songs.
Monet X Change
What is the name song? What is the Ed Sheeran song?
Bob the Drag Queen
Shape of youf.
Monet X Change
I'm in Love with shape of 902. What is of the song?
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know. I can only name one. He also did let's see. Ed Sheeran also sings Eyes Closed. He sings Perfect Shivers and photograph. These are his top five songs, I think. I don't photograph.
Monet X Change
Look at this photograph.
Bob the Drag Queen
And that's not Ed Sheeran. That's not Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran doesn't go, look at this photograph. That's someone else.
Monet X Change
That's Nickelback.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know photograph, but I know that's not Ed Sheeran.
Monet X Change
That's Nickelback.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah. I don't know who that is, but I know that's not Ed Sheeran.
Monet X Change
And we can.
Bob the Drag Queen
But, you know, maybe I should diversify my listening and listen to some straight men. But I think they're doing fine without me, and I don't. And I think they're. I think they're doing well.
Monet X Change
Do you like Streetman and R and B?
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, are you liking the Weeknd's music? Me not knowing the Weeknd's music doesn't seem to be harming him in any. I mean, he just did a track with Madonna and I haven't even heard it.
Monet X Change
Are you. Are you. Do you know, like, straight R and B man? Like, do you listen to, like, Giveon. Like, Bryson Tiller?
Bob the Drag Queen
I listen to. Again, like, any. Pretty much not. It's not 100%, but like, any straight man who's made music since, like, after 2004. So I listen. Yeah, I know, like Tyrese and Tank and, like, old, old stuff, but not, not, not anyone new now, really.
Monet X Change
But you.
Bob the Drag Queen
You don't like R and B. I didn't say I don't like R and B. I feel like you keep. I did not say that. I just don't.
Monet X Change
I don't specifically. When you hear, like, a straight man doing a song, even though it's popular, you just, like, not interested.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think I'm taking it like that. I'm just. I'm just not listening. Like, it doesn't find its way. Like, the weekend's music just hasn't found its way into my ears.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
You know what I mean? Like, I'm not like, ew, is that a straight. The music just isn't like Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran's music is just not finding its way to me. For whatever reason. Me and Ed Sheeran are having no crossover.
Monet X Change
Yeah. I would agree with that. I'm not really. I'm not like. I'm not like a. I'm not. Not looking it out, seeking it out, but it's just not. It doesn'. It doesn't come across my world.
Bob the Drag Queen
But I'm not avoiding it. I'm just not seeking it out.
Monet X Change
I think I'm also really into disco and funk in my Mind. Jessie Ware's new album is one of the best things I've ever heard in my life. Sonically From Top to Bottom is just such a beautiful project. I've talked about the Kylie's disco album. I think it's so fucking good. But also something about someone I think Bob, you'd really love. You'd really get into. You need to listen to Kahlo. Kahlo has such great fucking music and you would love it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Wait, what? Kahlo. Okay, what kind of music is it?
Monet X Change
K A H L O. It's like. It's like house. It's like a new house rap or like new house. Like house club music. I can't explain it, but she's this black girl. She's so. Her last ep. Oh. Oh, I thought something. I lost you on her last ep. Spaceships is so good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Okay. Work. You know, I used to listen to a lot Gerald Lavert. I was a big Gerald Lavert fan, y'. All.
Monet X Change
Old ass. You old black motherfucker,
Bob the Drag Queen
you.
Monet X Change
Gerald.
Bob the Drag Queen
What kind of art. Yeah, I listen to and this is usually the women and it's. And also to be fair, the R and B I listen to is also older in general. Like, most of R and B I listen to is actually older. But I don't know, just my music since has just gotten a lot more queer and to be honest, a little bit niche. Like if I go to. If you go to, like, go to your. Oh, you don't have Spotify. Nevermind, we can't do that. Nevermind.
Monet X Change
What, baby? There's an Apple version. Stop trying to exclude me from the conversation.
Bob the Drag Queen
So there is a. A thing called On Repeat where it basically is basically telling you your. Your top artists right now and who. Who you're always playing.
Monet X Change
Yeah, for me.
Bob the Drag Queen
And I realized, like, I didn't realize that my music taste has gotten as niche as it has gotten. But like, it is. I was like, wow, a lot of these artists are really super niche artists. And I was like, damn, this is kind of crazy.
Monet X Change
Like, in my most recently added. I have snow. Allegra. I mean, I had snow. Oh. Because there's a song I didn't I didn't. I really found out recently. It's called Find Someone like youe Snow. Allegra. I have vaults. I just heard this song the other day. Literally this from 2015. I thought it was really cute. I have tems and I have Jacques and Chris Brown. Oh, Put In Work is a really dope song I found. So that's kind of like my 5 most recently added songs if that tells you anything about what I'm listening to.
Bob the Drag Queen
My. My top five on repeat songs are Fever by Camera Time. If I want to Connie Diamond. Geez Louise, King Kitty, Bob the Drag Queen. Take My Picture and See Me Now Camera Time. Those are my current on repeat songs also. Ray, are you listening to Connie diamond at all?
Monet X Change
I don't know who that even is.
Bob the Drag Queen
Connie diamond again, I wouldn't expect you to because she's not. She doesn't have like a ton of followers. But I just, I just stumbled across her. I guess my algorithm was like you like you know girl hip hop.
Monet X Change
Oh I saw on my tick tock she had like. She had like a viral tick tock video of her like rapping like a street. Right?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, it was, it was if I
Monet X Change
want to Yes I have seen this person.
Bob the Drag Queen
I can talk about that if I want to. And I don't give a what you gon do if you Anybody's from New York. Right out her frontal. Yeah, I love the line. Any bitch feeling froggy then leap bitch. Cause I'll snatch a bitch right out her frontal. My favorite lines of hers.
Monet X Change
Yeah, I remember, I remember I've seen on TikTok. I didn't know they have a lot of. Have you seen that girl? She's very. She's. She's giving very, very Williamsburg very. She's a black girl, bald and she goes honestly one of the greatest one in the grade.
Bob the Drag Queen
Oh yeah, she's amazing. I love her. I can't remember her name. They're their name. They're. They're number gender non binary their name.
Monet X Change
I cannot, I try to find them on. On Apple Music. I cannot find their music and I really want to listen.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well you just gotta. You just gotta. You gotta just. I can help you with this because they are on. I love that I'm gonna say hold on. I will be one of the greatest. Their name is.
Monet X Change
I will be one of the green.
Bob the Drag Queen
Their name is Aniko.
Monet X Change
Oh no.
Bob the Drag Queen
Now you beat me.
Monet X Change
Yeah, Aniko.
Jacob
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
They're. Yeah they're, they're, they're. It's called the King's Affirmation is that what it is called.
Monet X Change
This must have been new because when I remember when it first. When I saw the clip, I was like, I want to find this song. And I could not find. I could not find. I could not find it. And now I'm finding because I. I did. Because in Apple you can search lyrics as well and it would not pop up, but it just pop up. So I just added it,
Bob the Drag Queen
you know. Iniko, they're amazing. They. They. I love. I love. That's. That's music I listen to. That's not. That's not rap. That's like really. I love that for some reason, her. Their voice and the way they rap and the way they sing is. The way they sing is just really.
Monet X Change
It's mesmerizing.
Bob the Drag Queen
They don't really rap, but they think they're mostly just singing. Something about their voice is just really. It like sucks you in and you kind of like get lost in this, like, space when they just is amazing. They're phenomenal.
Monet X Change
Also. Ray. Ray. Ray is big in my. Ray is a British artist. Her album my 21st century blues is so fucking good. She has a song called Escapism. When I tell you bitch.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's just Ray, like R. How do you spell it?
Monet X Change
R, A, Y, e. It's called 21st Century Blues. Yeah, my 21st Century Blues. I think you'll get into Ray. She's dope. She's fucking dope. She is really. She's opening for SZA right now. Well, she was opening for SZA in Europe on the tour, but she had like a vocal injury. Like, she's like. Her vocal cords were like, hemorrhaging and she has to like, cancel her dates. But her album is so good. So, so good.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, girl. The fucking vocal injuries are gathering.
Monet X Change
The girl I know vocal. And I was. I was talking to somebody recently and I was like, if people knew how fragile their vocal cords were. Like, you don't. Like, these two little muscles the size of a dime are responsible for you for what a lot of us have the privilege of being able to do, which is speaking and singing. And it is. They're so. They're so fragile.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, they're very delicate, but also like even like simple emot. Which obviously, obviously I want to be clear that you can communicate any mode without vocal cords. And people who don't have the ability to talk can communicate. But even like. Oh, you know, like that. Like those little things your vocal cords give you. You know, if anyone who's ever been blessed enough to hear Two Face, Two Face's remarkable laugh. I don't know how he doesn't lose his voice just from laughing. I saw Chiquita show last night. It was. It was it. I was sitting there being like, this is New York City drag. Like, this is why New York City drag is just.
Monet X Change
She's been doing that show for a century or two.
Bob the Drag Queen
It was her. It was her. It was. She kept saying 10 years, but actually been 11 years.
Monet X Change
Wow. Why is she leaving the show? I saw her post. She was like, this is my last show.
Bob the Drag Queen
Moving to Vegas.
Monet X Change
Oh, to do the work. To do the Vegas show.
Bob the Drag Queen
To do something with Vegas. I don't know, something with Voss Events. I don't know what's going on there,
Monet X Change
because a lot of the girls. So Voss hit me up. He was like, hey, girl, do you want to. Do you want to come host a Vegas show? I was like, I'm not interested. He's like, come on, girl. I want to come do her just for two months. I was like, I'm not interested. So maybe Shaquille's gonna go do it.
Jacob
Maybe.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't know. I think she posted about it. Shaquita is posted. So if you all want to know Shaquita, I'm sure she will be more than happy to post about on her Facebook, what she's doing. I love Brandon Voss.
Monet X Change
Voss was nice.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's always been very nice to me. I might go see what. I ran into Flotilla Debarge randomly in these streets, in these drag queen streets. Do you know Flotilla Debarge to who you ran into?
Monet X Change
Who?
Bob the Drag Queen
Is Monet frozen or am I frozen one?
Monet X Change
It's me, Jacob. Is it me or is it Bob?
Bob the Drag Queen
It's Bob. It was me. I saw my little WI fi trying to. My WI Fi struggling.
Monet X Change
Do.
Bob the Drag Queen
Do you know FL to bars?
Monet X Change
Bla. Yeah, I know Flotilla with.
Bob the Drag Queen
With.
Monet X Change
With the afro. George always got an afro.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, I ran. I ran into Flotilla, like, randomly, and she was like, come to my show. And I was like, I'll try to make it.
Monet X Change
I didn't.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't. You know me. I don't like to commit to stuff in public. I'm like, I don't know if I'm gonna make it or not, because I don't schedule myself as a rule. You know, this about me.
Monet X Change
My God, I can't.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's. It's. It's important to set boundaries. You gotta set boundaries.
Monet X Change
There's this. I told this Tick Tock video. It's this mom, and she's in the mirror with her daughter, and she's like tickling her. And she noticed her, her daughter's body language change and her daughter like set a boundary with her. Like, this is like a young kid, like I think like maybe like three or four. And she's like, no, stop. I don't like that anymore. Her mom was like, I'm sorry you don't like when I tickle you. She's like, no, not anymore. And she's like, I'm sorry, I won't do that again. She's like, thank you. She was like. She was like, do you still love me though? And she's like, yes, of course I still love you. And I was like, look at this little three year old kid setting a boundary. I'm like, you better work. Like, don't. I don't like that anymore. That's fierce.
Bob the Drag Queen
Whenever I tell you, Jacob's mom, she's very proud of Jacob's ability to set boundaries as a very young child or use his words. And I keep forgetting the one story that she always tells. Jacob knows it. What's the story, Jacob?
Jacob
Which one?
Bob the Drag Queen
The one where you were like in the chair and you were like, I don't like that. What was it?
Jacob
Oh, I was, I was getting stitches because I fell and I hit my head on a coffee table when I was like three and the doctor was stitching me up and I was like, hey, I do not like this. This does not feel good. I would like this to please stop now. And like, instead of crying, I was a child. I was like 3 years old.
Monet X Change
So did you not get the stitches then?
Bob the Drag Queen
No, no, no.
Jacob
We still need to stitch you up. But that's really great communication.
Monet X Change
Got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
She was saying like, instead of crying, he was like, I do not like this. This does not feel good. Please stop doing this.
Monet X Change
This.
Bob the Drag Queen
Please don't. This hurts. But instead of like wang, it was like, I. Please don't do that. This does not feel good. Stop doing that. When I was a kid, I. I did not possess that level of articulation. I was just a cry. I was a crybaby. I would just cry. But I was also one of those kids who was like, accused. I was one of those kids who was accused of talking like an adult. Why do you talk like, like an ad? Like, you don't talk like a kid.
Monet X Change
Like you. You were guilty of speaking like an adult. Like an adult.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, I would speak in full sentences. I wouldn't use. I didn't use. I didn't use baby talk ever. I was just one of those adults who Just I was one of those kids who just kind of had like a. An advanced vernacular, I guess. And I used to get made fun of for. For or either made fun of or adults would be like, you talk like you sound like a little. Like a little adult when I tell you. Thank you.
Jacob
I have.
Monet X Change
I don't know if it's trauma. I don't know what. I have no recollection of anything from my childhood in terms of like, any memories like that. I cannot tell you anything like that.
Bob the Drag Queen
Like, from what age?
Monet X Change
Like, probably I start remembering stuff like seven.
Bob the Drag Queen
Seven?
Monet X Change
Yeah. Like, if I think right now my earliest memory as a kid would be a sleepover I had for my birthday party. I had a Batman birthday party. And I remember driving up the driveway and my mom had this big Batman birthday party for me. And I also. Friends, like, slept over. It was a Batman brother party that was also a sleepover party. That's like my first memory. I can remember, I think, like, vividly. Where.
Jacob
What was this? In St. Lucia, New York.
Monet X Change
This was in St. Lucia.
Bob the Drag Queen
Were you. So you were just in these streets on autopilot for seven years?
Monet X Change
I think so. Operating.
Bob the Drag Queen
Operating in a blackout for seven years.
Monet X Change
My memory has always been like, that's how we should have known. And like, there are other memories. Like, I also have this memory of my dad when, like, my dad used to love to go on little, like, hikes with us in St. Lucia. So it was one time we, like, walked. We hiked from my house to this, like, path through the woods to this, like, secret beach. Like myself, my dad, my brother, and our two neighbors, like, all, like, we were all kids and just my dad was taking us on this hike and I don't know if that happened before the birthday or after the birthday. I don't know.
Bob the Drag Queen
I mean, your memory's always been low key.
Monet X Change
Shit.
Bob the Drag Queen
No shade. You know, your memory is shit, Monet. I mean, would you like me to mince? I can say it kinder. Money. You've always had issues with ruin.
Monet X Change
Can I call things about you shit?
Bob the Drag Queen
If you. You have. And you. And you can continue to if you want to.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think that my. My earliest memory that I can recall was coming back to school after the winter break in 1990. And I remember my teacher being like, it's the 90s now. Like, it is a new decade. Do you guys know what a decade is? And my first memory is learning what a decade was.
Monet X Change
So that means you were like, you were like 4.
Bob the Drag Queen
A decade is 10 years. I was, I was 4 years old? Yeah. A decade is 10 years.
Monet X Change
Okay, that's three years before me. So. So you. So you think you. Sophia is. That's three years before me.
Bob the Drag Queen
I think that not having a lot of memory from one to three is pretty standard. One to seven is significant.
Jacob
Four years.
Bob the Drag Queen
Four years is a lot when it. When it's. When it's. When it's. Those ages. I think most people don't have any memories from at least one to two. A few people have select memories starting at three, and I feel like most people kick in at four.
Monet X Change
Okay, can y' all comment? Can y' all comment? Can y' all comment if y', all like, when y' all memories started? Because I. I would. I. I'm interested to see people be like, no, I don't have anything until I was nine. I'd be like, oh, nine.
Bob the Drag Queen
That's wild.
Jacob
Jacob.
Bob the Drag Queen
Jacob, how old do you do when you start remembering stuff?
Jacob
Like, we're like, my earliest memory, I was probably. I remember my sister's birthday party when I. And she was probably like 7 or 8, which means I was like. Actually, I was probably like three, right around three. I remember sisters. My sister's seventh birthday party. And I remember. Which I guess maybe is three or four. Maybe. Maybe she was six. I don't know. And then I remember when I was three, my grandfather was driving me, and I was in a car seat, and he couldn't get me out, so he picked me up and put me just on my bed in the car seat. And I remember waking up in my bed, but still in my car seat and being very upset, you know?
Monet X Change
Well, also, I don't know if I think maybe I have these memories, but I forgot what they are, that I forgot that I had these memories.
Jacob
You forgot the timeline of where they are. So your memory, it's a memory you had in year three, but your memory.
Monet X Change
Yeah, maybe.
Bob the Drag Queen
I like to connect my memories to years, to grades and to other people's ages.
Monet X Change
But how do you remember what grade you were in?
Bob the Drag Queen
Because I remember it was the 1990s. Like, I have the year. It was, like, after winter break. 1990.
Monet X Change
That's like a pretty 1990. I think you're saying, like, it was somewhere in the 90s. I'm like, bitch, that's 10 years.
Bob the Drag Queen
No, the teacher was like, it is a new decade. It is now the 90s. Do you guys know what a decade is?
Monet X Change
God, I got it, got it, got it, got it, got it.
Bob the Drag Queen
Did you forgot what I said?
Monet X Change
Oh, my God. Oh, my God. So we're supposed to do this episode about stand up. And we'll. I'll save this story for the.
Bob the Drag Queen
For.
Monet X Change
For another.
Bob the Drag Queen
For the.
Monet X Change
When we. Actually.
Bob the Drag Queen
So since we're here. So, guys, now that we've reached. Now that we're 55 minutes in, let's talk about our actual topic, which is stand up comedy.
Monet X Change
Well, really quick, I'll tell the story. But last night I did my first show here in Madison, Wisconsin. Last night. Fucking amazing. The audience was great. So funny. It was so good. And I thought I was gonna have my first heckler by this fucking drunk asshole that was right in the front, right here. You know how the stage is literally right here in the corner of the stage? And I tell you, Bob, just talking loud, drunk, falling over, walking to the bathroom every five minutes. I was like, oh, I'm gonna have to like, fucking call this guy out. But. But I made it through.
Bob the Drag Queen
It's weird to me when people pay that much money because they're like, I actually don't know if at Comedy on State those tickets are more expensive, but they're like in the front row, you know what I mean? And to anyone out there, I should tell you all that if you want, you can watch my comedy special, available exclusively on Patreon. Woke man in a dress. It is currently available right now on Patreon. And I filmed it at Comedy on State, which is a really phenomenal, phenomenal club.
Monet X Change
I really like it.
Bob the Drag Queen
I love that fucking comedy club.
Monet X Change
What about it did you like so much?
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, I love that the way the staff accommodates the talent. The. The green room upstairs is a green house. Let's keep it real. The green suite upstairs. I really love the stage. I love how much they utilize the room because you're really in a corner. So it's not a massive stage, but there's so much audience, you know what I mean? Yeah, the crowds seem to have been. The crowds at Comedy on Stage seem to be, like, conditioned and taught how to respect comedy. Except that one loud guy in the front row of your show.
Monet X Change
A mess, A fucking mess. I was like, you fucking jealous bitch? Yeah, he was gay. He was there with his husband. And like, from the time I walked on the show, like, you know, you know when he's talking, he's telling your jokes and they're like, yeah, yeah, girl. I was like,
Bob the Drag Queen
you didn't say anything to him?
Monet X Change
I did. I made a few jokes to him, like one or two. And the audience laughed and kind of moved on.
Bob the Drag Queen
I haven't really had to, like, go in on A heckler. Since I was like, doing local shows in New York City, I haven't had to like, go in on a heckler since like my New York City show days.
Monet X Change
Yeah, me either. I've never had to. I mean, in New York, have I? Yeah, of course, of course. A couple of times at Hardware. Because, you know, I would do the brunch show on. I would do my. My Wonder Woman show on Saturdays and Hardware and me. I mean, on Saturday at like 7pm, 8pm bitches are tickety turned. I would. I would always have a little. I have to have a moment with somebody. Often.
Bob the Drag Queen
There's no video on my YouTube page of me, like, yelling at this drunk guy who's just like, literally lying on the stage. Like, he just. He just got up and just laid on the stage where Barracuda. The video is still up. It's still on my YouTube page. I think it might be. Still be there. I'm typing Bob the Drag Queen heckler. Let me see if. Let me see if I'll. Because it's a really.
Monet X Change
It's.
Jacob
Hold on.
Bob the Drag Queen
Bob the Drag Queen Heck.
Jacob
Where.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yep, it's still there. How to deal with a drunk at your show.
Monet X Change
Eight years ago, he just laid on the stage.
Bob the Drag Queen
He just laid on the stage. I mean, go look it up. How to do the drunkard show. He just laid down on the stage and was just like. And that was when. And Or Lindy was there too. So I had to like, gather. Cause I was like talking to this guy about. About why his behavior was completely inappropriate. And then look up and this girl's on her phone, like, just using her phone. And then I was like, you need to like this. So I. I had to like, get it, like, do a double. A double dip between Orlandi. Back in the day. Back in the day when someone was using their phone to drag show. Because, like, nowadays there's a very real chance that they're probably just posting what they just recorded of you on their Instagram. But eight years ago, there was no Instagram stories. There was no. Like, that would. That wasn't a thing like you. That's just not how it worked back then. You know what I mean? So she was just in the front row just fully texting. Just texting. And I was like, all right, well, now. Now I gotta double dip and get. Get both of these.
Monet X Change
You had a. You had a Pixie Aventura moment.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think. I think I handle it well. I've seen Pixie handle some with. I use humor. I Use humor. Because I didn't want. I needed the room to still be fun. It was the very, very, very top of the show and I still needed the room to be fun. So I didn't go check it out. Y' all can watch the video and decide if you think I'd deal with the world. It is called. The video is called how to Deal with a Drunk at yout show. And it is an eight year old video on my YouTube page.
Monet X Change
Pixie Aventura, as she handles it with extreme prejudice.
Bob the Drag Queen
And she was, oh, fire, fire and fire. She inflames the situation. She goes, how inflammatory can I make this?
Monet X Change
Like, why the. You don't even fall in the middle of the show, then go, they're gonna sit the fuck back over there. Then
Bob the Drag Queen
why'd you give her a New York accent?
Monet X Change
Because she's a New Yorker, Bob. Wow. You cannot erase Pixie's identity. She's a New Yorker now.
Bob the Drag Queen
Not all New Yorkers have New York. Lady Bunny does have a New York accent.
Advertiser
Yes, she does.
Bob the Drag Queen
She lives in New York City way. And Lady Bunny lives in New York City way longer than you way.
Monet X Change
Wow. Not calling Lady Bunny.
Bob the Drag Queen
Once they turned the heat on New York City, you ran, you skedaddled out of the city. Honey, I'm gonna.
Monet X Change
For the 19,000 times. All of y' all who have. Who are tried and true sibling rivalry listeners, y' all know this motherfucker from Bumble Andalucia, Phoenix. Bama has. I'm born and raised, bitch. My blood.
Bob the Drag Queen
I'm not from Alabama.
Monet X Change
But you live there.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah.
Monet X Change
Anyway, you see, we're having a good time. We're all having a good time now. No, I'm having fun.
Bob the Drag Queen
How do you know where you were raised? You don't remember anything from 1 to 7? You don't know where you were raised. For all you know, you could have been in Nova Scotia. You might be Swedish. We don't know.
Monet X Change
You don't.
Bob the Drag Queen
You don't even know. You don't know anything about the first seven years of your life. Talk about some born and raised. How would you know? Moneto. No, she fully lived in Beijing for five years.
Monet X Change
Clueless me, Nihama. I want to learn Mandarin. I've realized I'm too stupid to learn. I can't learn. I'm dumb.
Bob the Drag Queen
I don't think that's how that works. I don't think that language works in terms of dumb and smart. I think that I can't. I think that. I mean, there's a lot. I think there's a lot of quote, unquote. I don't. I don't believe people are dumb and smart, but I think there's a lot of quote, unquote, dumb people who speak a lot of languages, who. I think a lot of dumb people who speak lots of languages. You know what I mean? I think it's just about maybe the way our brains retain information. And also my memory, the age at which we learn. The age at which learn has a lot to do with that.
Monet X Change
Oh, yeah, for sure. And my memory shot. My brain does not. I don't have enough space. My. My memory. A lot of language is memory. Like, you need to remember shit, and I can't remember.
Bob the Drag Queen
Yeah, yeah. Languages. Yeah. A lot of memory. Not just the words, but also remembering the rules of syntax and.
Monet X Change
Right.
Bob the Drag Queen
And it's a lot.
Monet X Change
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Monet, what do you plan to do for the rest of your day before we go?
Monet X Change
I'm gonna go to the gym. I think the housekeeper just knocked. They probably want to clean the room. So I'm gonna go to the gym, and then I'm gonna take a nap.
Bob the Drag Queen
When you go to house, they knock and barge. They're knocking and opening.
Monet X Change
Well, I never respond. I think now because I'm so loud, they hear me, but normally I'm in bed, I'm like, no, thank you. And they're still knocking. So I just wait till they open the door, and I'd be like, no, thank you. I never respond until they open the door.
Jacob
Also.
Bob the Drag Queen
Are y' all motherfuckers stapling the sheets to the bed? Like, these sheets be in the. It's crazy.
Monet X Change
One of my favorite things, when Bob and I, we were in New York together, we were doing a bunch of stuff, and he came to my hotel room so we could do this meeting. And then after the meeting, we're going to go to Mateo's show. And I was like, monet, I need to. I need to take a nap. I was like, okay. And then Bob just disrobes. Bob, you and Andy. I don't know. It must be a sober thing. Y', all, like, disrobe? Like when Bob. Bob would be in the middle of the room. Bob just starts peeling off his pants, peeling off his shirt, get down to his skivvies and gets into bed. He goes, oh, I just need to be horizontal. Oh, Monet, I just love being horizontal.
Bob the Drag Queen
Well, to be clear. To be clear, it was a hotel room, so there was only one room. There was nowhere to go, and the most I could have done was gone. To the bathroom, But I would have had to walk from the bathroom to the bed in my underwear anyway, so I just went to the spot where I was gonna lay down. I asked Monet for permission to lie down. I know that Monet does not like. I also know that Monat does not like clothes from the outside in her bed. So I was respecting that boundary. I mean, I guess I could have shown some modesty and put on a robe and then disrobe and then snuck into the sheets and then through the rope.
Monet X Change
It feels so good to lay down. It just feels so good to lay down.
Bob the Drag Queen
I was tired. I was so tired. I don't know why I was so tired, but at the time, I was very, very tired. Very tired also. Speaking of which, you also go. If you all don't know, and we already know, you should also go watch Mateo's comedy special, too.
Monet X Change
Yeah.
Bob the Drag Queen
Pasta and Heartbreak. No, no.
Monet X Change
Hair Bugs and Heartbreak.
Bob the Drag Queen
Hair Bugs and Heartbreak available.
Monet X Change
My comedy special. Damn. Can you. Can you promo me, too? All you do is want to platform your little comedy friends.
Bob the Drag Queen
Fist of Glory. Monet has a special called Fist of Glory, which is also available, by the way. Loki. It is hard to find. Do you know that?
Monet X Change
Is it?
Bob the Drag Queen
Yes, it is hard to find. I went to go back to go watch it. I had to use the. I was like, let me go ahead and buy this real quick. The other day, I had to just go and look at the link you sent me. That shit is hard to find. Have you ever tried to find your special?
Monet X Change
No, girl.
Bob the Drag Queen
It is not easy because, you know, Jinxes is available on YouTube. I bought Jinxes on YouTube.
Monet X Change
Oh, work.
Bob the Drag Queen
When I got in Fist of Glory, Monet, Nothing. Nothing. There's a YouTube short from Comedy Dynamics, but that is. It's wild.
Jacob
It's only available to buy on Amazon overseas, but you can stream it all right now on Spotify. If you just search for Monet Exchange on Spotify.
Monet X Change
Thank you, Jacob.
Bob the Drag Queen
Is the word on Spotify?
Jacob
Yes.
Bob the Drag Queen
So we can listen, but we can't. There it is. Monet has the album out on Spotify. Okay. But yeah, Monet, we need to get your shit easier to stream because Jinx's is. You can go to. You. I bought hers on YouTube.
Monet X Change
Queen of queens. The queen of all queens and the
Bob the Drag Queen
queen of being easy to find, apparently. All right. I love you so much.

Hosts: Bob The Drag Queen & Monét X Change
In this lively and hilarious episode, Bob and Monét take a meandering yet insightful dive into music—old and new—exploring the current state of pop, rap, R&B, and queer representation in the industry. The duo mixes personal anecdotes (from birthdays to club nights with Madonna) with sharp observations on trends in streaming, notable new releases, and what’s getting the girls moving. As always, playful banter and shade abound, with detours into memories, stand-up comedy, and the importance of boundaries.

Rather than sticking strictly to “new music,” Bob & Monét let the conversations flow naturally—showing how music, memory, boundaries, nightlife, and identity all intersect in their lives.
Listen for: New music recommendations, queer music history, drag/ballroom tea, generational perspectives on R&B, and why the Weeknd is quietly ruling the world—even if you can’t name his songs.
