Welcome to Kate's Take, where I share my quick thoughts with you about Pinterest marketing and where it's at. I am the owner of Simple Pin Media and the host of the Simple Pin Podcast. So if this is the first time you're ever hearing a podcast from me, I just want to let you know that we alternate week to week. This one is our short five minutes or less. Just my thoughts. It's only audio in the podcast players and then on the opposite weeks I do an interview about somebody doing amazing things in our online industry, so make sure you're subscribed to get both. Also, that interview will be always be on our website and YouTube. All right, I'm going to title this one Everything is Fine. Someone said to me recently that I might be putting on a happy face, but Pinterest is going down first. I would say that might be a fair assessment, as I always do like to see the good and I have an entire community following me to understand how to view and navigate the platform. So I take very seriously and always have, making sure that I am neither overly optimistic or overly pessimistic. So let me address where I'm at. I think Pinterest has changed drastically in 2026 and I've not been shy about saying that. Maybe some people haven't heard me mention it, but I did a webinar last month where I talked about what was the same and what was different. I think AI slop has invaded the platform and while Pinterest has made some attempts, it's not enough yet and it's really hard to watch. Users still like the platform, but some are becoming more exhausted with it daily. Just check Reddit. It shifted more to products and for some of our product sellers they are absolutely crushing it, both organic and with paid ads. We had our first ever 90 ROAS on one of our ads for our client campaigns. That's mind blowing. I should take a screenshot. Elliott Investments just put $1 billion into Pinterest, which frankly makes me a little nervous. If you've watched the massive changes on Southwest Airlines and wondered who made those changes, look no further than Elliott. They won't do anything sudden, but it's something to watch for sure over the next two years. So where does this leave content creators? Frankly, in a tough spot. But I don't think all hope is lost. I don't. But I do think every business owner has to benchmark their goals, their progress, their time and investment just like they would on any other platform. I think the entire Internet has had A massive overhaul since 2022 when chat GPT was introduced and we're all still trying to figure it out. My team and I are talking daily about trying new things on Pinterest. We're investigating, testing, going deep on Reddit threads. By the way, I love Reddit, looking for articles and working with a platform to make it work for our clients in the best way that we can. Do we nail it every time? Certainly not. And I will be the first to say that it's frustrating not to be able to win for our clients. We care about their businesses just like we care about simple Pin media. So to those who want my deep thoughts on Pinterest, thoughtful discussions, and maybe to see a little less sunny side of me and to be with business owners who are troubleshooting where Pinterest is at in 2026. Join me in SPM Insiders. And no, I did not start this podcast with a plan to pitch that. But honestly, this group has been an incredible place to crowdsource ideas and all the people in there are committed to finding a way to make it work that is not a hack or some kind of black hat trick. It's $9 a month. You get a call with me monthly and constant conversation. Not. Not so much that you're going to be annoyed. I think it's worth testing out just for a month to see that I'm not all sunshine and roses about Pinterest all the time. So if you're interested, simply click down below in the description and join me. I'll part by saying this. I've chosen to build my Pinterest, my business, on a platform that I don't own. I'm not talking about email, I'm not talking about podcasting, even though those are a big part of what I do. I built my business on Pinterest, so do I have a vested interest in making sure it succeeds? Absolutely. And am I going to find every single thing that is positive about what's happening? You bet. But I feel like in the last year I've been really great at partnering with Pinterest, being part of the Verified Educator program, and speaking to them about the things that can be changed and should be changed. But I'm just one person, so I'm still going to be here, teaching, sharing, giving my feedback in hopes that those who want to use Pinterest can do it in a dynamic way for their business. Thanks so much for listening.
