Foreign hey there and welcome to Kate's Take number seven where I share with you simple, actionable tips about Pinterest marketing or what I'm thinking about the current environment. These are five minutes or less. You can simply listen to them, have a little bit of a jog of your brain and then go to implement or maybe not. This week I'm going to be sharing with you something that came up for me recently and that was during an SPM Insiders. This is our group. It's $9 a month. It's on school. It is this group where we troubleshoot all things Pinterest marketing. We have really thoughtful conversation. We are asking questions about what's working and not working. And during this season of time, I believe that crowdsourcing ideas that feel practical and achievable for most businesses is going to be what carries us through. So in our recent call in the March recording, if you want to see it, you can go back into the group. You can watch the recording, simply go to SPM Insiders on our main website, simplepinmedia.com and we were having this call about where Pinterest is at and some of the members were asking what's working, what's not working? And what I said was, I, I don't know, right? And I don't think anyone knows. I think we are looking for breadcrumbs along the way and we're latching onto those breadcrumbs and we are going full, full on and deep, right? And then somebody asked, do you think that new accounts or old accounts work better on Pinterest? And this sparked an idea for me that had been kind of rattling around in my brain for a little bit. But it was to actually start a new brand new website that centered around my husband's cigar habit. So I want to preface this by saying I hate the smell of cigars. I don't love it. But he loves, he's really into it. In fact, when we went to the Grand Cayman last year, we visited this woman who runs a non profit from Cuba who hand rolls her cigars. We got a whole lesson in it. I love that he loves it. And he's not a bro and he's not pretentious. He's really this middle ground of cigar smokers who don't want something expensive but don't want it cheap. So I was working with Claude, I like to call her Claudette, to give me this idea about what to do with this particular business idea, how it can be monetized, all these kinds of things. And because it knew about my Pinterest marketing, because I use it all the time for work. It said Pinterest, Pinterest could be a blue ocean for this type of content. So I thought, how can I take this idea and use it as a case study to whether or not a new account can actually get growth on Pinterest in a niche that is not the biggest niche on Pinterest, but one that Pinterest is said it is, you know, targeting men and it's targeting a consumer. Could I get good growth with that? With a goal to make money off affiliates? Now, the reason I did the affiliate piece at first was because everybody on YouTube is like, you can make $10,000 in a month off of Pinterest with affiliates. I think that's garbage. I think the ethical way that people are making money off affiliates is by actually understanding and reviewing products. I could be wrong, but this is just what I've seen in conversations that I've had. So then it's led to this experiment that I'm going to be doing inside the Insiders group. And right now my steps are basically to establish the site and also really fun. I had my daughter, who's really good at art, create a logo for this particular brand. And I'll share with you the brand once it gets launched. But share with you this brand how it went along with how he smokes, what he smokes. Starting to get into content writing. He's going to write most of it. Not so much reviews, but kind of his perspective of what he thinks of certain cigars, how he orders as like the normal guy who smokes in the backyard. And then really get into this whole idea of a newsletter and see where we can go. But definitely posting all content to Pinterest with two to three images per post. Here's what I'd love your feedback on. We are wrestling with where to build this. I know that I could have Claude whip up some HTML, slap it up and get a website, but it's not secure. That feels like there's a lot of gaps. And honestly, when I started in this industry, 2010, 1112, you did WordPress, you played to the Google machine, you did all of that. But I'm also challenging myself and saying, maybe those rules can be thrown out. Maybe that's not the way that you grow a business in 2026 in this landscape of AI. Or maybe use something like Substack or you use Beehive. I'm going to try to meet with Beehive and see if this is a good plan because I can create a site, then I can create a newsletter and then even have the option of a podcast or a video. He's a he. I didn't think he'd do video, but he actually said the other night that he'd be totally open to it. So the whole goal of this is to see is there room for a new website to grow in 2026? And can Pinterest be used as one of those levers to help it grow? I want to get into the trenches. I want to see whether or not it's going to work or not work and do what lots of other business owners, maybe even you, are doing today to try to grow your business. So I love your feedback. I'd love your thoughts. You can email me. Hello simplepin media.com. you can always comment on our Instagram. We're not over there much, but I will be chatting on threads about this. I'm at Simple Pen Media over there. I'm just really curious how it's going to go. So if you have any tips for me, any thoughts. The last time I started a website was 2020 and that was my other site, Kate All.com, where I do coaching. So I. I'm just not quite sure. So there you go. There is my Kate's take for the day. Let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks so much for listening.
