Foreign hey there and welcome back to another episode of the Simple Pin podcast. This is Kate's Take number eight. These are my quick thoughts on Pinterest marketing or the current economy. So just recently I was on Threads and it seemed like every other post was about feeling burnt out. And Q2 is historically a really hard quarter for businesses. Sometimes it can feel like there's no movement. We have no major holidays. If they're in the US Then you just paid a crap ton of taxes and you're feeling the itch of summer. But it's not quite there yet. So I have a couple of guiding principles that help me through these seasons that I hope will help you as well. A few things 1. I ask myself where the money is flowing. This is especially true when there's a lot of talk of recession or gas. Gas prices are really high, our grocery prices are really high, and we're generally feeling the squeeze. But I also tell myself there's money somewhere. It is going. People are buying something. So where is that money flowing and what industry is it? Now? This isn't going to be instant, it's going to take a little bit of time. But it puts you on this alert to say or to ask yourself, where is the money flowing? You're now curious about it. And the number two I ask myself, where do people need transformational wins, big or small? When I started out in 2010 with Facebook and affiliates, coupon clicks, coupon prints, it basically felt like the wild wild west of the Internet. The joke was that the 2010s you could basically print money. A lot of people got rich off courses, affiliates, and it was so fun. But it's harder now. Algorithms discovery is more difficult and neither ads nor organic work a hundred percent of the time. So you have to stay curious. You have to stay open to new pathways and be agile. But I acknowledge it is very tough to do when you're burned out. So take a step back, get out of the office. One of the things I do is I leave for a coffee shop, a corner of a hotel lobby, a library, or something different that jogs new ideas and ask yourself, what's the one thing I can do today to position myself in the flow of commerce in my industry? Or is there someone I need to connect with or a group of people that need my help and support? Oftentimes in business we operate in these circles that they can feel like it consumes the whole of business, but then when we stand back, it's just a tiny little bubble. But what if we went to A local event? What if we went to a one day conference? What if we went to a conference in another part of the country or even another part of the world? I often find that putting myself in positions where I don't know a whole lot about the event, I don't know a whole lot of people there, opens me up to an entire new world of people, which often answers my question one, where is the money flowing? And where do people need transformational wins? So I just want to encourage you today that if you are burned out, it is normal, it is natural in business. And when I had my first major burnout session in business, I thought I was the world's biggest failure. I thought I had done everything wrong and people had been doing everything right. I was the exception, not the rule. And I've now realized in this really tough economy, it's not a you problem, it's a collective problem. And we're all trying to figure out how to find these pieces and places to make it work. And that is oftentimes what leads to burnout is because you can only get creative so many times. You can only transform your landing page 1700 times. Like, it's a lot. But when we stand back and go, okay, where's the money going back, who needs a transformational win? And what's one small thing I can do to step into that flow? I promise you it will make a big difference. Cheering you on today and hoping that you're a little bit lighter after listening. And this jogs a few more ideas. Thank you so much for listening. Also, I'd like to say this. We tried something new this year and if you're a new listener in 2026, this is our 10th year of podcasting on the Simple Pin podcast. The new thing we TR tried this year was that we were going to do interviews. And then on the off week I would do these Simple Kate's take episodes that were only in podcast apps, Spotify or Apple. I'd love to know what you think about it. I would love to hear your feedback. So if you're in Apple, you can always leave a review or if you want to email us hello@simplepin media.com I acknowledge that is not super easy while you're listening to a podcast, but if you have five minutes and you have appreciated these, I would love to hear from you. I would love to hear from you about the format. I know a few people have posted on Instagram how they've been impacted by their interviews. That is huge. But I haven't heard much about these Kate's takes, so I'd love to hear more from you. Hello@simplepinmedia.com thanks so much for listening.
