I mentioned recently that someone in my life has been using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to address a health issue. And I spoke about the idea of concentrating oxygen to increase its potency and how we can actually concentrate our minds on specific ideas and attitudes and to increase their potency. Well, the hyperbaric experience has taught me another big patience. You see, my friend's condition was pretty serious and chronic and no other treatments were working. And when the hospital suggested 42 hour treatments in order to shift this seemingly intractable condition, it seemed like an absurd prospect, especially within the hospital environment. You know, it made me realize that we're accustomed to hospitals and medicine in general acting quickly. We get surgeries in a day, we take pills that have an impact almost immediately. There's a connection between the action and the reaction that is relatively direct and simple. But with this, 40 sessions over two months, and my friend would simply get rolled into a tube and watch Downton Abbey for a couple of hours. No side effects, no pain, no stress. And weirder still, they told us we wouldn't see results for quite a while. Well, after 20 sessions, his condition seemed to be exactly the same, if not a little worse. It was devastating. Even the doctors who'd worked with this technology before said that he was not responding well. So after experiencing hope, we all felt deflated, depressed, and then boom, a complete turnaround in like a day as amazing as a crocus shooting up through the snow. It was amazing. Now, I say all this because it is the time of year, at least for us in the Northern hemisphere, when it feels like nothing is happening, nothing's moving forward. It feels still stagnant, like winter will go on forever and our conscious minds can become frustrated, even depressed. But like with the hyperbaric oxygen below the surface, on another timetable altogether, things are moving, developing in their own way. There is incremental change going on below the level of our anxious, impatient, overstimulated minds. And we must remember that. And sometimes when we're told to be patient, it can feel like we're waiting for something to happen. But if you turn the whole thing around and perceive from that other, deeper timetable, patience is actually faith in the natural unfolding of things. And patience is a skill, a mindset, and even a profound form of inner strength.
